"I think Cavestar is flirting with me," Redstem said.
"Yeah?" Pansypoppy replied halfheartedly. He'd long since tuned out the talkative warrior's words.
And it wasn't like collecting soft oak leaves from young shrubs took any focus. That Pansypoppy preferred focusing his attention on his mind-numbing task rather than Redstem's prattling was only testament to how quickly the red warrior grated on his nerves.
Redstem wasn't even helping.
Pansypoppy didn't needed help gathering herbs, but he'd be foolish to venture into to the Daylands alone.
Therefore, Redstem.
Though Pansypoppy thought being a healer's escort into one of the more contested zones of the Daylands would involve far more looking for DuskClan threats and far less talking.
Redstem was undeterred by Pansypoppy's lackluster response. "You talk to Cavestar a lot, Pansy. What do you think?"
Pansypoppy's tail lashed and his claws took off more than just leaves. He hated when Redstem shortened his name, had told the tomcat to stop many times, but always when he least expected it, there Redstem was, Pansy, like he hadn't worked his tail off to get his full name!
He hoped that Redstem would take his silence as an opening to go off on another ramble, but, annoyingly, for the first time in his entire life, maybe, the selfish warrior actually wanted his opinion. "Pansy?"
"I don't know," the grey healer said, swallowing his frustration. It wouldn't help anyone to start an argument here, this close to the Horizon.
The Waterwings were uncharacteristically calm today (which is why Pansypoppy had been so eager to go out, even if the only warrior escort available was Redstem) and his pelt was dappled in shadow from budding trees. He'd simply been following his nose: plants this way! the wind sang, and with Redstem's self-guided soliloquies distracting him, Pansypoppy hadn't been paying much attention to his surroundings.
They shouldn't be this close to the Horizon with only one warrior, especially one that wasn't doing a very good job of keeping watch.. Worry prickled his pelt. Pansypoppy turned to Redstem, intending to tell him that they should leave before they were wearing DuskClan warriors for pelts, when Redstem abruptly stepped into his space, bumping under the healer's chin.
"Come on, you can tell me," the ginger tom wheedled. "If Cavestar does have a crush on me, I've already figured it out, haven't I? No harm in dropping the feather."
Redstem's fire-tipped tail poked Pansypoppy in the nose and it took all the healer's willpower not to snap at it. Instead, he blew a long breath from his nose, picked up the small bundle of herbs he'd collected--a pitiful amount, really, not worth this--and quirked his tail back toward the Dawnlands.
"Yes!" Redstem shouted, leaping forward with far too much enthusiasm. How many DuskClan warriors heard his yowl and were headed their way? Pansypoppy picked up his pace. "That means it's true, right? She likes me! I knew it! Stars, I'm good."
The Waterwings stirred and a slight rain started to patter against the leaves around them.
Wonderful.
At least Pansypoppy had an excuse for why he kept his ears down and why his tail lashed in frustration as his pelt grew heavier and heavier with water. Even Redstem's commentary slowed as the sprinkle turned to a constant drizzle.
All for a few measly leaves.

Welcome To The Outpost: Part 2.3 - Swept Away
Fandom: The Bad Batch Characters: CT-9904 Crosshair, Clone Commander Mayday Word Count: ~1375 Read Here on AO3

Read Part 1.1 - Frozen Read Part 1.2 - Rise From The Ashes Read Part 1.3 - Lost Battle Read Part 1.4 - No Way Out Read Part 1.5 - Rock And A Hard Place Read Part 2.1 - Last Chance Read Part 2.2 - Broken
Once the rocks stopped tumbling to fill the cave mouth, the mountain rang with silence.
Crosshair turned to survey his work, lowering his rifle with little satisfaction. It had been a quick way to end things; targeting the crate of explosives to collapse the mountain cavern network, instead of tackling another wave of raiders rallying from inside their base.
Not that they had struggled with the combat. He had been reluctantly impressed at how the reg commander, a blaster in each hand, had stormed the encampment with ruthless efficiency. Crosshair had worked with command-class clones in the past, and they were the only ones who were even close to operating on the same level as him and his brothers.
Don’t think of them.
Eliminating the raider’s base with the reg commander had almost – almost – reminded him of the mission on Desix with Commander Cody.
He had known he would work well with Cody; there was no doubt about that. They had a long history together.
What he hadn’t expected was for Mayday to shadow his movements so effectively, bringing the brutal skirmish to such a quick conclusion.
There was something to be said about the ferocity of men with nothing left to lose. The hollowness that radiated out from the commander threatened to consume Crosshair too.
Mayday faced down death and the elements on the word of an officer he didn’t respect, because he was loyal.
Loyal to the Empire.
And Crosshair was at his side because the commander also carried the intense loyalty to his clone brothers that the sniper had never understood, but had found himself on the receiving end of in the tunnels.
Mayday had no business saving him from the pressure mine. It had been his own idiotic mistake to trigger it. If it had been him, he would have scoffed at the reg commander and left him; not worth the risk of accidentally detonating the mine whilst trying to disarm it, just to save one man.
But Mayday had thought it worthwhile. When he had brushed off Crosshair’s ingratitude with little more than a resigned chuckle, it made something inside Cross burn all the brighter.
The faint, creeping sensation of eyes on his back shivered up his spine – the reassuring version, the one where those eyes were his brothers’, watching out for him just as he watched out for them.
He’d had that, briefly, when Cody had requested him for Desix. Then the Marshal Commander had absconded.
Rampart’s insidious voice sounded in his mind again. Clone loyalty doesn’t seem to be as advertised any more.
Crosshair thought Cody had had his back, but the Marshal Commander abandoned him. Just like his brothers had.
He couldn’t bear to confront the nauseating fear that Mayday might do the same.
*
“Crosshair.”
“What?” Crosshair’s tone was short, but without his earlier aggression.
Mayday gestured down the mountainside, towards the snowmobile which had crashed and spilled its pallet of crates after Crosshair shot the driver.
“Let’s load the cargo and get out of here.”
Although it was night, the whiteness of the snow bounced the little light from the sky around, giving them enough to see by without drawing their torches. Sliding to a stop in the powdery snow, Mayday pulled off his helmet, loosing his unkempt hair to the wind and feeling the bite of the icy chill against his cheeks. Behind him Crosshair mimicked the action, tucking his helmet under his arm, silent and observant.
Mayday faltered as he approached the downed skiff. His eyes skipped over the tumult in the snow, the once-smooth surface marred by scattered debris where one of the cargo crates had burst a seam at the impact and spilled its contents into the night.
White on white. Gleaming plastoid against powdery mountain snow.
“Gear?”
The edge of Mayday’s voice shook. The fingers of his free hand dug into the seams of his own armour, curling against the coarse fabric wraps keeping the cold out.
“We’ve been risking out lives to recover equipment we could have been wearing this whole time?”
He sensed more than saw the sniper come to stand at his shoulder.
“It’s not clone trooper gear,” said Crosshair. The way he softened his voice at the acknowledgement spoke volumes.
“Right.” Mayday dragged the word out into a derisive snort. “New toys for their shiny new military, and we get the scraps.”
Holstering his blaster, he knelt and scooped up a cuirass from the snow, turning it to inspect the item. A coldness that had nothing to do with the mountain night curled around his chest, constricting, forcing bile to his throat.
“We were good soldiers.” The words choked past a knot of fury and sorrow. “We followed orders. And for what?”
His companion remained silent. That was fine by Mayday. He didn’t want to hear the sniper’s brand of biting commentary right now.
He dropped the cuirass in disgust, kicking it towards the other items spilled from the fractured crate.
“For three years we fought in the war,” he continued, his voice low, words spoken mostly for himself. “Earned their freedom with our blood, and never asked thanks. It’s what we were made for.”
Now he turned to Crosshair.
“Do you think they’ll even remember us?” he asked, fixing the lean sniper with a piercing stare.
Crosshair held his gaze despite its intensity, brow furrowed in a frown. He’d drawn a toothpick from somewhere, and his teeth clenched around it as he shrugged a response to Mayday’s question.
Mayday continued. “I heard the rumours about phasing out clone troopers. I didn’t really believe them until now.” His face twisted in a glare, one hand scrubbing over his face and beard as he sought to control himself. “What does that even mean? They just let us die, and not replace us?” His voice shook with anger. “I heard Kamino was destroyed. Does that mean… the end of us clones?”
Something flickered behind Crosshair’s eyes, an expression quickly shuttered. He turned his face away from Mayday, letting his gaze go long over the mountainside.
“It was.”
Mayday stared at him blankly. “What?”
“Kamino was destroyed,” said the sniper through clenched teeth. “I was there.”
Taking a careful couple of steps, Mayday positioned himself in Crosshair’s eyeline. The sniper still tried hard to avoid looking at him.
“You were on the Empire’s ships.”
“No,” said Crosshair, and his voice was barely more than a breath shuddering up from his chest. “I was in the city.”
For a moment the wind dropped away to nothing, and now Crosshair met Mayday’s eyes. Behind that hard exterior there was a fracture of fear, wide-eyed and frightened, and Mayday’s breath seized to realise how young the other clone must be.
Not much older than Veetch.
A rumbling, rushing started up. Blood in his ears.
Except Crosshair was reacting to it too. Whipped his head round to gaze up at the mountain peak, far above the destroyed cavern.
To where icy death tumbled down the mountainside towards them.
Reacting on instinct, Mayday pulled his bucket back on and clapped Crosshair on the shoulder. “GO!” he roared, and he was already running, adrenaline driving fatigue and fear from his body as his long legs ate up the ground and he raced, heedless, down the mountainside.
In moments Crosshair had drawn level with him, helmet in place also. The two clones, light armoured and dark, slid and sprinted wordlessly through the night, racing from the devastation which descended from high to sweep them away.
The avalanche would catch them. Thousands of tons of snow and ice gathered speed, must faster than their exhausted bodies could hope to outrun it.
Mayday scanned their path for something, anything, that might offer safety. Somewhere to shelter. To hope the wave of snow would crest over them and spare them.
Looming from the darkness, a jagged boulder jutted up from the mountain surface, black and forbidding.
“Look out!”
Shoving Crosshair to one side, Mayday watched as the tall clone tumbled head over heels, the unexpected push breaking his momentum.
Then the snow was on them and Crosshair was lost to his view, and the crushing wall of ice swept him against the boulder and everything went black.

Karakal (Chronicles: The Lost Page)
A creature also known as the "paradox beast" that emerged from another dimension in order to cause havoc across the timestream. It was summoned by Nyako, embodiment of primordial chaos, to destroy the Satori Family Line and send the timeline into eternal darkness. In intervention, the seraphim Kairos, guardian of time, emerged to grand his blessing to Treck Satori, ancestor of Koros Satori, in order to defeat the paradox beast and save the timeline.
Karakal is the final boss of the game "Chronicles: The Lost Page", a spin-off of the Chronicles of Chronicles series set 980 years before Chronicles Meteorfall and 15 years after Chronicles Calamity. It was the first game in the series finished and released in a completed state. TLP went through many different, vastly different versions through it's development. Originally in the 1.0 release, Treck was the ONLY party member, leading to incredibly difficult gameplay especially for the bosses. Most of the armors and weapons and many of the maps including the entire western area of the desert weren't even made yet! 1.1 was mainly just bugfixes and some dialogue changes, while 1.2 was a SIGNIFICANT update added in Izzy, Treck's companion, as a second party member straight from the bat as well as a secret third party member with Vivian. It also added in a huge amount of new weapons and armors for the new members as well as many new areas including Uran Oasis, Desert of Desolation - West, and "Skull Cavern" an optional dungeon. Version 1.3 drastically rebalanced the game on a massive scale while fixing some bugs present in 1.2, and Version 1.4 was yet another rework, specifically for the final boss Karakal who was made more difficult with brand-new moves and a new custom-made design. 1.5 was the next update which fixed a large slew of spelling and grammar errors, and updated Karakal's design once more to what you see now with shading and eye lasers created using visual effects. 1.6, the absolute FINAL update, is planned in the near future which will fix the last few bugs, change some dialogue, change enemy placement, rework the Chimera Den dungeon, add in new equipment, and add in a new post-game bonus dungeon along with its new superboss.
To properly fight Karakal you must have the "Kairos Ring" equipped to Treck before engaging Karakal in battle. Otherwise, Treck will become petrified at the beginning of the fight, and you will be locked into the bad ending, kicking you back in time to the moment you last entered the final dungeon. To obtain the Crystal Ring, you must help the old lady after she gets kidnapped by the Chimera Ants, which requires you to head north off the beaten path into the semi-optional (not really) Chimera Den mini-dungeon.
In battle Karakal uses various arts representative of his different colored eyes. These include "Violet Gravitron", "Flood Ray", "Empty Rosae", "Orche Curse", "Verdant Force", and "Amber Emperor". He can also use "Destruction Ray" and "Crawling Curaka" under certain conditions. Here's what each of these arts do.
Violet Gravitron: Deal gravity damage to all foes equal to 25% of their current HP.
Flood Ray: Deal severe water damage to one foe x4. Empty Rosae: Deal severe dark damage to all foes while lowering their BP by one. 10% dread chance.
Orchre Curse: Lower all stats for all foes.
Verdant Force: Deal severe force damage to all foes x2. 100% poison chance.
Amber Emperor: Raise all stats for the user.
Destruction Ray: Deal colossal almighty damage to all foes. Damage blocked by guard.
Crawling Curaka: Heals 9999 HP for the user.
Karakal will only use Destruction Ray every 5 turns, and he will only use Crawling Curaka while on the bad ending route. (in order to prevent you from killing him before you die due to petrify) Karakal will always use "The Eye Consumes" at the beginning of Turn 1 to attempt to inflict petrify on Treck. If he succeeds due to the Kairos Ring not being equipped, you are locked into the bad ending.

There's several things bothering us that these people keep saying and screaming things that they want to try and do and they won't let people alone about it the two in the apartment are screaming at the top of their lungs to let us in the adjacent apartments and they're going to get arrested. And people in the neighborhood can hear it no but spies are there and they all have to watch these jackasses
I'm throwing up a warning sign our son is not feeling good we need to get him medicine or get him out and right now and I mean to a house or apartment or even a hotel
Everything's going on right now it's not time for the nightly report but we do have about 3 million and it's not billion in the rings and 2 million in the Everglades and it's because about 10 million total died this morning and the building up but the build-up is fast it's twice as fast as yesterday and the day before and it's really fast they're Manning up and they're trying to get heavy and they're trying to do all sorts of things that they shouldn't and it's going to be a disaster pretty soon leadership of the minority will be at 1.1%, you think by nightfall and of the pseudo empire it will be probably 2.8% by nightfall come out pretty quick and only about 3 hours we have other things to discuss this is important very important because they are going to be out of power momentarily and practically all of them bja is running a huge work campaign and his leadership is dying and still following orders and they're passing it but they're not experienced some of them are fairly sharp and do a lot of work and they know how to do it so it's working for him but Trump is losing people that know what they're doing and the people that replace them are just greedy bastards and he's going to dissolve himself and that's happening there's nothing we can do now his organization has gone terminal so we need to pitch in and it's time so I'm going to put it up and he works on it with us okay he's relaying information about his attitude his demeanor his statements and the frequency him drawing people all day long and I'm hoping that they do it to him and they don't and he goes around does it again and he has been naughty on it it's getting more and more prevalent and fierce and he's changing disguises three times as fast as last year which was very fast and obnoxious and is doing it here and people noted and they can't stand him and they need them out and it's true they're getting horrendous they sit there knowing the apartment sucks they're just trying to move in there cuz it's terrible cuz they're assholes and we have to do something so we are and they can go to the clinic who cares they have to go somewhere else
---you seriously have ways of doing it I guess they're going to be blamed for their own destruction and that's the key and Trump is playing a big fat loser and he left only to return as a more obnoxious person wete sure
---so he's ruining it all he says you'll have to depend on Dave he says you're right and a smug arrogant way and her son says and daughter so what the AI falls to everybody you need an army to support it and everyone knows it but you and this is a small army you made it small everyone wants you going to take your stuff and you didn't do anything it's always angry about it Its what it is
---there's other things happening the clones are attacking again and they're trying to increase the speed at which the five quarter mile caverns disintegrate and they're out there fighting the pseudo empire both sides are fighting fiercely now it's only a matter of time before something happens. Huge that's on our son but that's just the way it goes there's other things going on we will mention in a moment
Well the red has been up to 1.7 twice for 10 minutes and it's going to up to 2.2 for 10 minutes and it tapers down over 30 minutes to 0.7 and over 45 minutes to 0.3 and it happened this morning and early this afternoon it's coming up around 3:00 p.m. and another at 5:00 and overnight it will be 1.7 about five times that should help clear out the primal SEC and he's appreciative and thank him and him just sitting there is actually helping it he's under covers but the covers don't really do much they absorb some it's not particulate it's microscopic. This type of blanket does not hold the radiation no it does and it doesn't hurt him it's going to be very low the low 0.1 is very few blankets that don't polyester is one that will hold it it's just like a filter cotton kind of holds it on the outside but it seems pretty quick it is really only a few things that have satin on it but you have to wash it we're proceeding right now to alter the diet hopefully and people have to do it here

re(vee)sion | Vee | Trial 1.1 | Re: Harriet, Bian, Miles, Shinjuku / Attn: 19, Amber (+ general question to everyone)
Vee considered himself realistic to the possibility, or even the expectation, that someone would eventually die in time, because that was the outcome Kali and Amber had intended with the motive. Death is no stranger to anyone who works or has worked in the medical industry, and violent injuries are part and parcel of that, but the level of brutality involved in Francis' death had sparked a mini-existential crisis within Vee. Even with the gained knowledge that this had been a trap by any other name, that someone had possessed (and then subsequently acted upon) the impulse to drop over half a dozen swords on a fellow Incarnate...
It was not a thought she was comfortable keeping wound up inside his head. Even if that person might have been Francis to start. She had stayed quiet throughout the initial sharing of information, nearly speaking up to comfort Bian before the repeated condolences from at least three different people made her adding anything else a moot point. Instead, Vee had moved on and scribbled away at their own notes in the meanwhile, and had offered his neighbours reassuring glances of their own. It was nice to be flanked by two people they could wholeheartedly trust, naïve as the thought was, and a lull in the conversation eventually prompts them to speak up.
"I don't... h-have much to add in terms of my w-whereabouts, seeing as how I've been in the L-Library since... 8.45? That's about the t-time I left our room," Vee gestures between Harriet and himself. "I can confirm t-that Miles, 19, Bian, and Miss Theophania w-were present until 9.30, when the former two e-exited via the west door. Harriet came in shortly a-after, and was in the Library with me u-until... About 11.45, which is when s-she left and subsequently returned... to get Frank, which l-lead to us bein' called over after that." That's the kindest (and quietest) way they can frame their roommate's actions. "Between then, Frank e-entered the Library at 10.20 or so - the books on I-Incarnate memoirs were his, for clarification. Bian left through the south door t-to the training hall around 10.40 with her book, and Esmée entered s-shortly after 11. She left around 11.30, takin' t-the west door back to the bedroom hallway. That is the record of everyone who e-entered or left the Library tonight, and Miss Theophania, w-who stayed in the Library with me, should be a-able to corroborate all of that."
They pause. "Can I ask if we're a-all on the same page about somethin'? Where do we think w-whoever was responsible for Miss Foxe's passin' was at the time of h-her death? Because buildin' on Miles and S-Shinjuku-san's point about the positionin' of the blood... t-there wasn't a struggle, I agree, which m-means Miss Foxe was likely l-lured into the location of the trap. Therein lies my d-discomfort - she was found at the b-bend in the dark hallway, nearly out of the range of the magical l-lanterns and their light. I can navigate the d-darkness without issue, as a few others can attest to, b-but I can't... quite picture someone likely as c-cautious as her to approachin' the dark so blithely, and there wasn't a-anythin' of note in the cavern further in that w-would indicate somethin' lured her inside. What, or who perhaps, caused her to go f-further in? And what does that s-say about who could've been responsible for all this?"
Vee takes a moment to let all of that sink in, and also to take a breather of their own. "T-There was a gun, by the way." The others have referenced it, but for Bian's sake since she might not have seen it in her fear, they're willing to restate and explain further. "One of t-the flintlock pistols from the a-armory was close by to her right hand, a-and it was fully loaded. The metal was c-cold and there were no powder burns indicatin' that it was f-fired at any point. I don't... know if I c-can say for particularly sure who took what f-from the training hall, but I'm goin' to w-wait to hear 19 clarify if she saw Miss Foxe t-take the short swords directly or only around t-them. The separate handwritings between Mark and Gun, however faked, were d-different enough that I don't want to r-rule out the possibility that it could be two different p-people."
They also turn to Amber, raising their hand nervously. "Um, s-seein' as how you have to be involved to s-some extent, Miss Amber, I would like to ask you to c-clarify how much you were responsible for. Just... W-Whether or not you had helped set up a-all of the vines in the nature they were found in and the sap creature in the c-crevice, or simply created them for w-whoever created the trap to do as they w-wished."

Peter Lik
Peter Lik is a Australian photographer who specializes in landscape and nature photography. Landscape photography is one of my favorite types of photography to do and he is one of the best so I draw a lot of inspiration from him when I am out photography nature. Lik is a widely renown photographer and has broken records for the most expensive photographic print sold selling at 6.5 million dollars. The photo that sold for that absurd amount of money was called was titled Phantom and was taken in Arizona’s Antelope Canyon a popular photography spot due to the due to the unique shape of caverns and rock formations created by millions of years of naturally flowing water.
while this photo above sold for the record 6.5 million dollars he also sold two other pieces form the same set called “Illusion” for 2.4 million and “Eternal Moods” for 1.1 million making him 10 million dollars from one collection.
While Lik's specialty is landscape he aslo takes amazing city scape photos using panoramic techniques to capture wide shots showing off very large portions of a city or landscape. Lik's technique with composition and color grading come together to create some of the best landscape photos of this generation.

CW: NIGHTBEAST, CLAUSTROPHOBIA It was hard to miss Nightbeast scent. Each Nightbeast smelled different, but in a way, they were all the same: so sour it curled his lip and made Plumstripe sneeze, buzzing with ozone and with a hint of carrion, of something long dead and rotted.
This Nightbeast also carried the musk of a reptile and an earthy scent Plumstripe couldn't identify. "Peat moss?" he suggested.
"Pond earth?" Furledstar added. DuskClan's leader crouched beside the drop of dark ichor, his nose wrinkled, either from concentration or distaste.
It was Tulippaw that had the most insight, the young tom's grey eyes going wide as he checked the scent beside his mentor. "It's willow bark," Tulippaw said, licking the scent from his lip. He looked surprised to have recognized it. "Mothpuddle gave me some for headaches, it smelled just like that."
"Nice, Tulippaw," Plumstripe praised the black tabby tom, who ducked beneath the praise, bashful.
"Have none of you ever had headaches before?" Tulippaw mumbled.
Furledstar flicked his tail, calling Fireglide back from where she'd been watching on a nearby Star jutting from the ground while the others investigated. "Let's see if we can't get eyes on it. We don't know how big it is, so I'll leave it up to you, Plumstripe. But don't take unnecessary risks."
"Sounds good."
The Nightbeast's trail ran parallel to the Nightlands, so Furledstar took Tulippaw south, back towards DuskClan's camp, leaving Plumstripe and Fireglide to take the northbound tracks. "It got far too close to camp," Fireglide said softly, once the two were on their way. The scent was thick and impossible to lose, the trail following the path of least resistance through tumbles of rocks and pools of water.
"That's why we're here," Plumstripe noted. "Furledstar and Tulippaw scented it earlier, when they were training, but didn't risk investigating further since it was far into the Dimreaches." It was always disturbing to find one, though. Usually the Nightbeasts were hesitant to venture into the Twilight, and finding one brave enough to stay on their borders for so long meant it was certainly dangerous.
The trail led into a tunnel, where the cavern walls pinched close together. It would open back up on the other side, Plumstripe knew, but the narrow tunnel was long and dark, Stars absent, and they couldn't see more than a few paces into it. The idea of being trapped inside made his hackles prickle. "Wait here," he said to Fireglide, gathering his courage. "I'll scout it out first. If it's clear, I'll call you." And he wanted someone to protect the entrance on this side, so he'd have somewhere to retreat to if things went sour. The last thing he wanted was to run from a Nightbeast on that side, only to be boxed in by another threat on this one.
"Yeah, totally, sure," Fireglide said, looking relieved that he'd offered to go into the darkness. Plumstripe knew Fireglide was faster than he was, but the tom couldn't bear putting her in harm's way, especially when Furledstar had left him in charge.
Plumstripe didn't give himself a chance to second guess himself, pushing into the darkness. It wasn't actually that narrow, plenty wide enough for two cats to walk shoulder-to-shoulder and tall above besides, but it certainly wasn't open like the rest of the Caverns, and the absence of Starglow was stark, the darkness absolute after only a few moments. But while he didn't like being in the dark, he certainly had been in plenty of dark tunnels before--it was hard to avoid them, really--and so he was confident relying on his other senses--touch and scent, mostly, but also the air pressure on his fur and whiskers--to navigate the space.
It was also how he realized that the Nightbeast was here, in the tunnel with him. Its rasping breath echoed, a warmth pressing into his fur. It was close.
Plumstripe didn't hesitate, he ran. And not a moment too soon, as he heard jaws snap behind his tail, a sudden wind pressing against the backs of his paws as something large displaced the air. He pushed his paws faster. From the feel of it, the Nightbeast would struggle to push its mass through the narrow tunnel, but that didn't stop Plumstripe from running as fast as he could towards the smudge of light at the end of the tunnel.
He burst free. He didn't need to warn Fireglide, who was already at his flank as they left the tunnel behind and climbed a short hill. Only once they had a vantage did Plumstripe look behind him, skidding to a stop when he knew the Nightbeast wasn't close on their heels, collapsing against the moss-covered stone when he didn't see it erupt out of the tunnel's mouth behind them.
Fireglide sounded the alarm, a high-pitched yowl that would echo through the Twilight, alerting Furledstar and Tulippaw that they'd encountered the beast and needed backup. She kept on her toes, watching the tunnel entrance so Plumstripe could gather his breath and his thoughts. It was only now, sitting, that his paws began to sting and he stifled a hiss of pain as he licked the blood from the scrapes.
"How big was it?" Fireglide asked, once his breathing was even. The Nightbeast still hadn't appeared, and by this point, Plumstripe doubted it would. It had struck fast as a snake, but perhaps it was slow at walking. That would explain why the scent trail was as thick as it was.
"I couldn't tell, I was still in the tunnel when I ran into it. Has to be small enough to fit in there, though," he said, flicking his tail towards the dark mouth. "And either it got to the other side and was coming back through, for some reason, or it was small enough to turn around in there because it certainly snapped at me." There were only a few places in the Nightlands that bigger Nightbeasts could come through, and it hadn't been spotted at any of those, so it was likely that the creature wasn't more than double the size of a cat.
Still, with the potential of venom or other dangerous weapons, even a small Nightbeast was deadly. "We should try and trap it there," Plumstripe decided. "It would be hard, but if we kept watch on both sides of the tunnel…"
It was then that Fireglide saw Furledstar approach, standing and hailing the leader with a wave of her tail. Plumstripe waited until the patrol was together before continuing. "It smelled aquatic," he said. Now that the danger was past, he couldn't help but yawn, exhaustion tugging on his limbs. His paws still stung and would probably need Mothpuddle's attention when he got back to camp too.
"We should trap it in the tunnel," he put forth again. "It's headed for the marshes, and I fear it will be impossible to drive out once it reaches water." Furledstar looked about to argue, but then tipped his head, regarding the tunnel beyond. "I don't think we should fight it. Maybe it will dry out."
"DuskClan doesn't have the resources to guard the tunnel for more than a day, maybe two," Furledstar said, but Plumstripe could see thoughts turning behind the cunning tabby's yellow-green eyes. "But if it is truly aquatic, perhaps that long away from water will weaken it enough that we could kill it there. The terrain certainly works to our advantage, if we have enough cats."
In the end, they left Fireglide to watch the tunnel with Tulippaw to serve as messenger, while the two other toms returned to camp. "You've done enough today, Plumstripe. Have Mothpuddle look at those paws," Furledstar had said, helping the ginger tabby to his paws and back to camp. They talked strategy the entire way back--Furledstar did most of the planning, using Plumstripe as a sounding board to smooth out some wrinkles--and by the time they heard the twin waterfalls of DuskClan's camp, they had a solid plan for dealing with the Nightbeast.
Plumstripe wasn't chosen for the battle patrol, as he was ordered by Mothpuddle to rest his scraped feet until they healed. But he worried the entire time, at least until Tulippaw and Foggypaw raced into camp, matching grins on their faces, eager to tell everyone that hadn't been there--only Plumstripe and Mothpuddle in the healer's den, and Cloudheart and Maplesong in the elder's--how successful the fight was. "Furledstar thought of everything!" Foggypaw gushed. "He even let us fight!"

headcanon in two parts, sorry. Ask does not miss it. 1.1 Oh, you know the insecticons from the tfp? Can I have a headcanon where a S/O person is on friendly terms with insecticons?
[TF PRIME] S/O Is Friends With The Insecticons
———————————————————————
* [S/O] meets them by accident quite a bit before the events of the Energon Eaters. Arachnid is still “leader” of the Insecticons by technicality as the only available ‘Queen’ for the hive-mind, however she never really patrols the area or takes care of the hive as she should, rather choosing to wander as a free mind, disobeying orders from everybody.
* You had stumbled upon the hive while taking a short walk along the side of the Jasper highway, leading out of town and to an old coal mine you liked to inhabit on your days off work. A home-away-from-home of sorts, it brought you peace of mind to have a quiet place.
* At least you thought it was a quiet, desolate area until you broke through a thinning in the rock floor of the entry shaft and ended up crashing an Insecticon tea-party.
*It was a rather awkward fall, and it had injured your hip joint on the way down, leaving you temporarily paralyzed in throbbing pains and nerve damage.
* The giant bug-like robots and their shiny, metal wingspans immediately armed themselves and aimed at the shifting dust and rockfall, growling and chittering in a language of some sort, unknown to you.
* “Is it one of those ugly-faced Decepticons ploys again?”
* “It’s too small and squishy, much sooner to be a predacons’ chew toy than any weapon.”
* You looked super confused, absolutely stupefied, completely duped, utterly incomprehensible, awkwardly awed, amazingly idiotic, a-
* Their manner of speech and vocal patterns was practically lost on you. You could pick up remnants of a language similar to broken [language], but really nothing else. In an attempt to make contact with the metallic giants to gain help, you enabled your parroting capabilities.
* Humans have the stunning ability to mimic sounds and specific noise frequencies, at levels other earthen animals, especially mammals, cannot. Using this ability, you managed to copycat the grinding and chattering noises coming from the vocal mass of bug-bots.
* [S/O]: “¿Krrt-grrut vvurrr chechch?”
* Hardshell: “¿Buzzzz vert-tet-brrrz, Erreech?”
* [S/O]: “¿Erreech?”
* Hardshell: “¡VRREE BUZZZ-EECH CLICKLICKIK!”
* The contact went well, unbeknownst to you, and the successful communication meant that you might actually have a chance at escape, or finding a hospital!
* Congrats! You are now [Tiny Bug Child]! You have no idea what they were speaking about, unaware that they were contemplating how to execute you, but you successfully managed to evade death by being cute and cuddly! People say curiosity killed the cat, but it evidently saves the naive human-who-fell-into-an-insect-cult-meeting!
* Hardshell, the Insecticon you nearly landed on top of, begins to lift you out of the rubble, and place you down upon a makeshift stone table, partially destroyed by the collapse. The others—including Wingflap, Bombshell, Shrapnel, Blockhead, and Kickback—gather closely around you, cooing and chirping in their weird language again.
* This was, evidently, how you became the new Queen of the hive, though you didn’t know it, and managed to befriend your way through the entire enclosed community and worm into the spark of every Insecticon, though they were very few in number.
* You made easy friends with Bombshell, and remained close with him up until his untimely death by Bulkheads hammer fist. He would often lay atop the Jasper cliffside with you, and make out shapes in the clouds, constellations in the stars—regaling to you tales of the Old Cybertron, when his own kind weren’t so despised, and were respected as viable assets and allies amongst those with forms like and unlike their own—until the Autobot Elitists ensured they were seen as ugly and malformed, made to hide away in the shadows and step away from society for ‘the greater good’.
* It’s how you came to hate the Autobots—and Decepticons—for all they had done, to their planet and yours, and to your friends as well.
* Your mimicry slowly turned into actual speech patterns and recognition. Repetitive sound signals were a key portion of Archaic Insecticon speech, which made it easy to recognize simple words or phrases, each indicated by a set of whirs, clicks, or beeps.
* Now that you could actively communicate with most of the hive, it was far easier to make friends with even the hardiest of bots.
* Hardshell, of course, was tough to crack. At your constant insistance, he spoke with you once or twice, and made sure to acknowledge your presence when in the room, as well as save you a seat at the underground pub every other weekend. It wasn’t actually a pub per-say, rather a dugout chamber with smooth walls and some stone slabs insert for seating, where the cons enjoyed engex they could sneak off the Nemesis from time-to-time.
* After awhile, he warms up to you, welcoming you back to the hive every day after work, standing alongside his multiple siblings, and pushing others aside to get to hold you first.
* Meanwhile this all happens, they still don’t know what a human is. Their simple understanding of earth comes only from what they’ve seen on the highway from the cliffside, or from video footage of the Autobot pests on the Nemesis. Due to their bulky size and noisiness, they’re banned from most human-inhabited areas.
* Don’t doubt that some of them have attempted to follow their [S/O] home. They have. And some of them won’t stop trying. It’s been more than one awkward encounter between you and some teens to get them to realize they could get you in trouble.
* You all eat [dessert] together sometimes, made with energon supplements for ‘The Boys™️’, with some good ol’ 25-something-kg of sugar mixed in.
* The boys were worried when you didn’t show up for a week due to hospitalization via severe food poisoning medical coma.
* When Arachnid finally returned to Earth, and her fight against Arcee had proceeded about as well as expected, she located the hive and proceeded to force them to engage in business with Megatron. She believed that by implementing her own soldiers amongst the ranks, she’d be better equipped to backstab Megatron when the time came.
* She was undoubtably surprised when Hardshell and some others adamantly refused to take part in her plans at first, until she enforced their compliance through the hive-mind.
*When she learned of your existence, and the very gauge of your importance to her former hive, she came at you with full force.
*The Insecticons were fully unprepared to deal with a fight between their small [S/O] and an extremely angry ex-Queen. In refute, they returned you to the surface without so much as a goodbye, and begged you to escape before Arachnid scented you out.
* It was soon after these events that you learned of Breakdown’s death, Bulkhead’s coma, and Bombshell’s demise due to the combined effects of a substance called Tox-En and injuries sustained during his battle with Bulkhead. It broke you inside to learn there was nothing you could have done to help, but you refused to disobey their pleas to stay away for awhile.
* At the hive, Arachnid rules supreme. Being able to control the hive-mind was a feat a human was incapable of achieving, only Cybertronians able to easily access the imbedded chain of command.
* Hardshell mourned the loss of a true friend—a small, squishy human—but a friend nonetheless.
* Wingflap and Kickback went through a collection of memories you’d left behind with them. Pictures and small objects gifted over the years, a small treasure trove of important parts of their lives, now without you in them.
* Shrapnel stims a lot more now, and has nervous tics that he believes are the result of the loss of his dear friend. He knows you aren’t dead, least not yet, but he knows that you’ll likely never come back.
* Blockhead, as dumb as everybody thinks he is, is actually very emotionally intelligent. He has a way with words he barely understands, and [S/O] acted as a big support for someone like him. Without them now, he can no longer function like normal, and now has nobody left to talk to.
* Arachnid could care less. She absolutely despises [S/O], and would smite them for all she cares. You matter little to her, and only worry her for the loyalty and capacity of her troops.
* It isn’t until the Energon Eaters appear that everything turns completely south.
* [S/O] finally builds up enough courage to march themselves back down to the mine, and demand to meet Arachnid face-to-faceplate.
* The desert is hot, Nevada is hotter, and the trek down the highway seems endless and tedious. You pass by 5 interstate signs on your way to the hive, and count the steps it takes to reach the entrance, parched by the time you make it there.
* In all your sweaty glory, you, [S/O], make your way down the carved pathway into the mineshaft, dark and cramped—just as you left it.
* But everything is exactly as it was left, not an item out of place. The entire hive was empty, including of those you cared about. Their rooms are full of memories, and their energon cubes still lie in a corner, collecting dust and grime.
* The search seems profitable, yet it leaves you with nothing, and the emptiness of the hive echoes around you, and in all the chambers, through the cavern walls of every room.
* You know they’re gone, that they have left without you, and without so much as a simple passing note.
* Perhaps someday you’d find them, hiding away in another Jasper mine, but you never would.
* In their haze of a hive mind, they barely even remember the face of the human they left behind. A long line across the moon—stretching on for miles—and a vampire on a false throne, draining the lifeblood from their veins, and the image of [S/O] from their minds.

A short wip
He glanced at the faces around him. General Windu looked grave, General Skywalker looked angry, he had never been able to read General Yoda’s face, and when Kanan Jarrus (who used to be Caleb Dune) met his eyes it was with an intense glare. He wished his general were here. But the man had vanished without a trace, a week standard ago. When they went looking for him, they found the elder Commander Tano instead.
“We need to do something about this now.” Commander Tano’s was strong and held no room for argument.
“Need more information, we do. Need proof, we do.” General Yoda’s voice was a reprimand.
“I agree.” General Windu said. “Before we go poking around in our men’s heads we need proof that there is a reason.”
“Proof?” Commander Tano sounded incredulous. “The proof is in their heads.”
“If there are chips,” General Windu reasoned, “then we have no way of knowing their purpose.”
“No way?!” Commander Tano exclaimed “No way! Oh, I suppose you’re right. Except the time travelers sent from the future where it happened to tell you what they did.”
General Windu took a breath but Kanan beat him to it.
“Computer play recording OBWK 1.1-5” His voice was strong and it was angry.
“Kanan-“ Commander Tano protested, but Cody was no longer paying attention. His eyes were focused on the holo-display in front of them that was playing a recording. It was grainy and looked like it was the auto record from a ground canon. He could see himself in his armor surrounded by his brothers. The middle of a battle then. He watched as his General rode a creature up next to him. A pang went through his heart. Oh, but he did miss the man.
“Commander, contact your troops. Tell them to move to the higher levels.” His voice was calm, though the creature seemed a little restless.
“Very good, sir.” Cody heard himself reply and he turned halfway to Boil to relay the message before turning back. “Oh, by the way. I think you’ll be needing this.” He saw his counterpart hand the General his lightsaber.
“Thank you, Cody.” Cody could hear the smile in the General’s voice. “Now let’s get a move on. We’ve got a battle to win here.”
“Yes, sir.” Cody watched as the General moved the creature to start climbing up a cavern wall. He watched his counterpart turn and relay the orders. Then he saw himself answer a comm. He couldn’t hear what the comm said but he watched himself snap to attention. He hung up his comm before turning and motioning to the canon behind him.
“Blast him!”
What?
Cody felt his legs give out under him. He leant forward, his bucket falling out of his hand, gripping the edge of the display for stability. In the back of his mind he was aware of Rex putting a hand on his shoulder, but he couldn’t really notice much through the horror and the stream of
nonononononononononoNo
that seemed to permeate his whole being. He watched the canon fire and the blast hit and the body of his General fall down as if it was in slow motion. It could be for all he knew. The General was falling, falling. He fell out of range of the camera and the display shut off.
He stared where the final image of Obi-Wan had been. Had been- falling-to his- his- because Cody- Cody had ordered-
He wasn’t sure he was breathing. Did he know how to breathe? Did it matter? He had just watch himself order the execution of the man he- the man he-
“-dy! Vod! Hey!” There were hands on his face dragging his sight to his worried brother. He focused.
“Cody!” That was Tano’s voice. She was closer to him that he had been. He could hear the Generals talking in the background.
“Cody,” Tano repeated. “Master Obi-Wan survived that attack.”

I finally have a semi-coherent thought about A:TLA again!
Zuko and Katara (or Sokka or whoever, it truly doesn't matter) in the crystal caverns... except they don't know he's Zuko. He's just some random -apparently- Earth Kingdom teen stuck down there with them.
They have no clue why this guy (who introduces himself as Li) is in there with them.
Then everything goes wild when Azula comes down and starts talking to them and inevitably calls him 'brother' or something.

So I've just been excited that c!Tubbo told c!Ranboo what happened. That he got executed because c!Quackity and c!Schlatt peer-pressured c!Techno and that he made the burns from that attack canon.
However I keep seeing people upset that c!Tubbo is not upset with c!Techno and that people are saying that the peer pressure was enough to cause him to do that.
However, I don't think any of them are actually thinking about the facts of c!Techno here because their arguments are always along the lines of "Oh, he could have fought his way out :/ He could have easily beaten them".
They're probably right, even against high odds, c!Techno could beat a lot of people. However, c!Techno isn't one to take a risk he doesn't have to and also -
The peer pressure does come into play, like it or not.
I would like to bring to the table that both cc!Techno and c!Techno have rather severe social anxiety. This is true and canon fact.
Do you know what it's like to be in a situation where everyone is staring at you when you have even normal anxiety? It's fucking terrifying. I'm saying this as a person with anxiety, both social and just plain anxiety.
So important people like c!Schlatt and c!Quackity, suddenly calling for c!Techno to execute c!Tubbo? He would be feeling all of those eyes on him in a situation where he doesn't have any authority and isn't mid-battle.
Fucking hell that sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Put me in that situation and tell me to stab someone? That knife is gonna look like a good option for getting out of an awkward and terrifying situation. Just thinking of it makes me nervous to the point of my chest getting tighter.
c!Tubbo was in no position to really call him off either, he was literally trapped and couldn't do anything. He had no power to help c!Techno escape the situation of being watched while called to do something, which meant that c!Techno also felt trapped.
Not to mention that c!Techno and c!Tubbo usually got along before that. So c!Techno didn't exactly have ill will towards him either.
Had someone he trusted and worked well with - c!Tommy and c!Wilbur come to mind - tried to call him off, he more than likely would have hesitated more and even potentially just not done it.
But I'm sure some of you would argue that just c!Schlatt and c!Quackity doing it and no one speaking out against it isn't enough.
However, it wasn't just c!Schlatt and c!Quackity was it? it's something we don't want to think of for one very simple reason.
It was us too.
Chat is canon and Techno bends to our will quite often. When it comes to violence, we're the ones who get the final say and get to call the shots.
After all, our favorite phrase is "Blood for the Blood God" and we called for it that day.
And we aren't exactly small in number.

Has anyone ever noticed that when people in the Dream SMP fandom go "Oh, what this character did was unforgivable", "This character is bad", "this character is flat", or "This doesn't make any sense". You can always tell whether or not they watch the person they're complaining about?
Like, c!Tubbo's execution for instance. Every time I see someone say that c!Techno didn't care at all or his character enjoyed it, I can tell they don't watch Techno or completely misunderstand his character.
c!Techno spent several minutes stalling, all while trying to find a way to free c!Tubbo.
If you watch it from c!Tubbo's POV or any other character than c!Techno, it does look like he's just lining up a shot and trying to avoid c!Tubbo's talking, but if you watch Techno all that movement makes more sense. He was looking at c!Tubbo's imprisonment for a way to release him.
He can't. He's forced to go through with it. He gets close to use a weapon he himself doesn't know is effective because he knows at close range fireworks do more damage. Then fires off multiple shots until he gets the message. He also apologized beforehand for what he's doing.
The thing about c!Techno is he doesn't apologize if he doesn't mean it. If he didn't care about killing c!Tubbo he would have fired off his shots immediately and without a word of apology because he wouldn't have a reason to even pretend. He wouldn't have bothered stalling and he wouldn't have bothered with even a half assed apology.
---------------------------------------------------------
Another thing is when someone says that c!Phil's is two dimensional. They clearly aren't watching lore from his POV, only from other people while he happens to be in the room. That or they completely don't understand what's going on. cc!Phil isn't an actor or writer by any means so of course his side will seem a little flat.
If you actually pay attention from his POV and to what's happening rather than purely how he's executing it, c!Phil does have a lot of motivation.
I've also seen people say that his character half-ass tries to explain away shitty things he does, but here's the thing. From c!Phil's POV, those excuses make sense. They aren't half-assed because to him they're exactly why he did it.
Just because you don't like it or it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean that it doesn't in the end make sense.
There are more situations than just this too, but people need to work on stopping and thinking about things and not just jumping in on a take that doesn't really have ground to hold it.

I swear-
c!Techno was abundantly clear to c!Tommy from the beginning that he was going to destroy L'Manburg. He stated it several times. He made no illusions about not wanting or planning to.
c!Tommy chose to ignore every verbal statement c!Techno gave him about this however.
Yes, c!Techno stated they could talk about it at one point, but need I remind you that any chance they had to talk about it was completely disrupted by c!Tommy leaving and therefore c!Techno had no reason to even hesitate anymore.
Also, despite seeing several people who seem to think otherwise, c!Techno had no intention to force c!Tommy to help him destroy L'Manburg. He asked but he also stated that c!Tommy didn't have to help and that he should just stay out of the way. c!Techno was essentially saying, "Just stay at the cabin, you don't have to be involved" and meant it.
Not to mention c!Techno showed c!Tommy a room with HUNDREDS of wither skulls. c!Tommy isn't dumb, he knows what that would mean.
So, NO. c!Techno did not lie and hide his intent to destroy L'Manburg and NO, he wasn't going to force c!Tommy to help him.

Things that piss me off when people ignore them, Dream SMP edition. (Surprisingly TikTok and Tumblr are innocent today, I'm just mad.)
c!Techno did not blow up L'Manburg. c!Wilbur did. c!Techno set Withers on the already destroyed city after they set up a government in front of him while knowing he was an anarchist that they had employed partly because he was an anarchist.
c!Wilbur manipulated c!Techno by lying to him multiple times throughout Pogtopia. He claimed Pogtopia was not a country -which is directly opposing what he told c!Tommy as they made Pogtopia- then proceeded to tell him that he wouldn't be making a new government when they took back L'Manburg.
Releasing Withers on L'Manburg was not c!Techno betraying them as he had no loyalty to them in the first place. He had been hired by Pogtopia to help them train and farm. He had no ties of loyalty beyond helping them regain the country. When betrayed and finding out he was lied to, he then proceeded to set the Withers on them. You cannot betray someone who you were never loyal to in the first place and he had no loyalty to L'Manburg.
From c!Schlatt's view, executing c!Tubbo made perfect sense. He was a mole that he found, not only in the country he was in charge of, but in the actual cabinet. Even if we don't like it, it made sense from his view.
c!Techno did not enjoy executing c!Tubbo. He was forced to. He would not have apologized or stalled for time while attempting to figure out how to free him if he had wanted to do it or didn't care.
c!Tommy did not mean to burn down c!George's house, it was an accident. He had set out to steal from people that day.
c!Ranboo was as much to blame for the destruction of c!George's house as c!Tommy was.
c!Tommy took all the blame for c!George's house being burnt down despite the fact that he knew that c!Ranboo was there too and he could shift some of the blame to someone else.
c!Quackity had no right to cause the formation of the Butcher Army. He went to c!Techno's land knowing that he wasn't causing any problems right then. He knew that c!Techno had no intent to fight and used Carl against him. Even when informed that c!Techno was retired he didn't care. Also, c!Techno simply responded to c!Quackity coming after him with the same reaction as c!Quackity gave him. Violence.
c!Wilbur was manipulating c!Tommy for a long time. Even as far back as the Disc Wars. When c!Wilbur told c!Tommy to give the discs to c!Dream, seconds later he privately messaged him to tell him to run, which caused even more chaos and harm in the end.
No matter how much you head canon otherwise, Sally was just a regular salmon.
