My Kastle Scene Wishlist

I’m not sure what Kastle content we might get in Daredevil Born Again, but there is also talk that they might make a new Punisher show. What are some scenes/parallels that you would like to see between Frank and Karen? Here’s a few of my musings

Reversed Hospital Scene! I would like to see Frank momentarily panic over Karen getting hurt and have a turn holding her hand in a hospital bed. I feel like we deserve this scene so bad. (Caveat: Frank CANNOT be the reason Karen got injured, even if it’s just she got shot in the arm or has a concussion; Karen is in dangerous situations regardless of Frank being near her or not and he needs a wake up call for that). Bonus points for the total opposite of telling her to walk way—this time HE GETS IN THE HOSPITAL BED and puts his arms around her and just holds her and Karen gets to feel completely safe for a few minutes. Just go all out with the hurt/comfort trope for these two. Anyway, I have a whole WIP fic devoted to this, so honestly it has become my top wish to see some parallels drawn with another hospital scene.

Karen gets to help in a fight and shoots someone. I feel like since they never got to have the Wesley conversation, a way to show-not-tell would be for Karen to kill a bad guy and then Frank come check on her to be like, ‘hey are you okay?’and she’d be like, ‘yeah, I am.’ She’d be a bit shaken up but grimly holding it together because it’s not her first time killing someone. This would also work in contrast to the scene where Amy shoots the guy in the hall and then Frank infamously takes the gun from her and takes the responsibility of his death away from her. Sorry to make Karen suffer because I know she’ll feel bad about it, but I’d be okay with seeing her character go a little bit darker to save someone’s life. She’s been carrying that gun since DDs2, she deserves to take out a baddie on her own and it’d be a great segue into rehashing some of her past that Frank NEEDS to know about

Frank meets Paxton Page. Will the show make time for this? Probably not. But damn do I want to know what Frank would say if he knew that Karen’s dad cut off his only daughter, when Frank would do anything—anything—to spend one minute with Lisa again. I’d love to see Frank go to Fagan Corners with Karen to put flowers on her mom and brother’s graves. We spent three seasons of Frank being able to open up around Karen and talk about his family with her. Meanwhile she has never once said anything about the losses she’s suffered. Frank needs to know and I don’t want it all jammed into one big backstory dump where she tells him she killed her brother and Wesley in the same conversation. Another option would be for Frank to accidentally visit Karen on the anniversary of her mom/Kevin’s death and she is having a breakdown. If we can’t get into any of Karen’s past, have Frank find out Karen has his burner phone saved in her contacts listed as Home. I’ve seen that idea in several different fics and it just needs to be canon. They are Home to each other.

A scene where Frank holds Karen all night and they don’t have sex, but it’s profound. (Think like Spike holding Buffy). If they are nervous about comics fans being mad about Frank Castle finding love again, give us some physical intimacy and closeness where you know they mean everything to each other but can’t cross the line and make things real. Fan fic writers will know we won and then fill in the rest for those cowards.

If they’re willing to make Kastle real, give us a goddamn kiss. Actually, just let them have sex, because Karen Page has been forced to stay chaste for YEARS and she deserves to get laid. And Jon Bernthal seems to be more than comfortable doing sex scenes soooo please just make it the most beautiful thing ever filmed because they are so in love with each other. It has to be noticeably different in tone from the scene with Beth. And Karen cannot get shot the next day, don’t even start with any of that bull$hit trauma for Frank.

Kastle pillow talk scene. Since it’s Disney Marvel now, I don’t know how much we can hope for with a sex scene. So the pillow talk scene that follows had better be some life-altering confessions of love and cuddles. Do not even think about him sneaking out before she wakes up like he almost did with Beth. Karen deserves something good to happen to her for once, let her have a perfect night and a gentle, soft morning after. She deserves it even if Frank isn’t sure if he does.

Karen Page and Dinah Madani Friendship. I’m rewatching The Punisher s2 and one thing that pissed me off was the scenes of fake bonding between Dinah and Krista Dumont, drinking wine together and discussing men (Frank and Billy, who else). So. To make up for that, we need some genuine female friendships, like Karen and Dinah going to a shooting range together or gym or going out to a nice bar for girls night. Even if Frank has been keeping his distance, these ladies have struck up a friendship and Karen has someone to hang out with besides her lawyer coworkers.

Karen gets to meet Micro/The Lieberman family AND Curtis. David knows how Frank really feels about Karen. Curtis needs to find out Frank DOES still have something good holding him in this world. And Karen should meet Frank’s friends.

Okay those are some of the scenes I want to see for Frank and Karen! If someone could please get this list to the Punisher writers for the future of the show, it’s actually very important that we get some of this or I’m gonna have to come write for the show myself. 🙈

wip wednesday three (nothing wrong with me)

thinking of mmmaybe doing these every other wednesday....? we'll see. it honestly just may be whatever wednesday i feel like. i'm balling

usual caveats apply. this is basically the first pass of things, and this snippet in particular is a bit older and now i'm waffling abt when lucy is introduced in-canon so this is one of those scene's that's definitely teetering between actual canon and a character exploration

Have I started a family? Grimm didn’t know where Lucy was going to end up. She was sticking with the two of them for sure, at least until they no longer had to look over their shoulders constantly, but after that? Would she be adopted by someone else? Would Yarrow and it become her parents? It didn’t think it could raise a child, Yarrow had some sort of inclination towards nurturing a kid, but Grimm? Grimm was good at wrangling animals, sneaking around, and aiming a gun. 

Its thoughts shifted to its own parents. They had been good parents, loving, the kind that wanted to have children for the sake of sharing the joy of life with others. Things had been peaceful for the first twelve years of its life, really. A lot of places, a lot of music. But they had died more than half its life ago, how much of what Grimm missed was actually real?

Yarrow would never get to meet them. Then again, Grimm didn’t think it would ever meet Yarrow’s parents either, but from what little they knew, they were still alive—a rope severed instead of snapped. It had a feeling they would have taken a liking to Yarrow. He was charming, and hard to dislike at first meeting. He was also still awake, and shifted to kiss Grimm on the underside of their jaw.

“Everythin’ alright?” Yarrow murmured into its neck.

“I’ve never told you the name my parents gave me.”

Yarrow stilled. Fully stilled in the way they usually were only in sleep. Grimm couldn’t tell how Yarrow had been fidgeting with their hands or their feet a moment before, only that the whole world had stopped and turned its eyes toward Grimm. All six of them.

“You can’t tell anyone.” Was it too late to back out? No, but it shouldn't.

“Never.”

“And it’s not my name.” It belonged to a dead kid, Grimm only carried it with them for sentimental reasons. 

Yarrow nodded. A blanket of quiet settled on the two of them before he spoke, “You don’t have to tell me, Grimm. I don’t mind if you keep it for yourself.”

It didn’t want to keep it to itself, not with Yarrow, who knew almost everything else about it. Who had given them so much with no expectations in return. Grimm would only die with Yarrow, for Yarrow, or by Yarrow’s hand.

And so it spoke that name, the only gift it still had from its parents, the one that hadn’t been said in years.

“You have a saint’s name,” Yarrow said, amused, “That’s fitting, in a way.”

"What does that mean," Grimm asked flatly.

I've been meaning to put together a rec list for forever, but @kprecfest finally gave me the kick in the behind I needed to do it. This is a little long, but in no way exhaustive—I still have so many fics on my to read list and I haven't had the chance to venture far from VegasPete yet (but there are a few non-VP recs at the end there). Such Precious Hours by ellieellieoxenfree (wip, explicit, post-canon)

Nobody ever really escapes this life.

One of my favorite takes on post-canon injured Vegas, treating it as the disability it realistically would be. And Ellie is so deft at grounding the physical with emotional pain and vice versa. But this fic has an incredible emotional depth that is alternatively sweet and heavy and hard, with truly great family moments and a lot of heart.

Pete rolls onto his back, thunks his head back lightly against the floor. “Goddammit,” he says.

Lu has such a fantastic skill for writing action and bamf!VegasPete. This was the fic that made me fall in love with her writing. It's action-packed and sexy as hell. Super fun.

walking shadows by Lise (oneshot, teen, post-canon)

Even if almost everything else in his life still kind of sucks, Vegas at least thought things with Pete were going pretty well. The past is in the past, right? Everything's fine. Or not. Pete's reliving his trauma at night. Vegas has a crisis about it, and tries to figure out what he's supposed to do now.

Annnnnnnnnnngst. The only fic to legit make me cry so far in this fandom. Vegas is really going through it in this fic as he deals with his guilt and self-loathing in the aftermath of canon. Heart-wrenching and devastating.

The Blood in Your Mouth by folie_a_yeux (wip, explicit, f/f au)

She could stay like this for hours, just staring at Pete. Making her stare back. She could snake her fingers through her hair, like she’s done now, countless times, and bare that exquisite neck. She could run her hands over her stomach, down her thighs, feeling her gasp and squirm. And she could take her. Right here, on the dirty floor of this cramped, filthy room. She could bring back the light in Pete’s eyes, that look she hid in that Bangkok cell. She could make her do more than scream. F/F PeteVegas, or "Torture is Always Sexier With Lesbians."

God. I love this fic so much. This version of Vegas, with no hope of ever being a heir because of her gender, is truly unhinged and breathtaking. And the writing is just so lush and sharp and visceral.

The Opposite Of Hate by kerrikins (oneshot, teen, character study)

Or, three times Pete should have killed Vegas but didn't. Or, Pete's filled with emotions and doesn't know what to do with them or what they mean. Set between his escape and the end of the season.

Kerri is maybe more known for her AUs, but this shorter canonical Pete POV fic is still one of my favorites. I love her take on Pete's mindset through this period of the story and how it transforms over the short period between episodes 13 and 14.

where it's so sweet and heavenly by saru (oneshot, explicit, post-canon w/Venice)

Hornbills mate for life. Vegas thinks he understands. or, Pete is the perfect business partner, lover and father. Vegas wants him to have his babies. Figuratively speaking.

Another gorgeously written post-canon fic, this time with a lush sense of setting and symbolism. Also Vegas's obsessive adoration of Pete is this is just top notch.

golden hour by honeydrip (lmeden) (oneshot, teen, post-canon)

Pete stretches as he wakes, a languid gesture that fills up the bed and presses him against Vegas. His spine cracks and the muscles in his shoulders scream and he feels the bruises on his side begin to burn. He is a symphony of pain, and he smiles into the flesh of Vegas’s arm. Pete and Vegas get ready to go out on a date.

If you are in love with Vegas's wardrobe like me, this is a great fic for you. Also has gorgeous writing and the intimacy is so good.

fool's gold landed on my shoulder by phnelt (oneshot, mature, canon-divergent/au)

Today is the day the minor family attacks the major family’s compound. It’s the seventh time for Vegas. (Time loop fic)

Vegas is stuck reliving the minor family coup over and over again. A short time loop fic with a whooper of a punch.

Lost Pet by clandestinegardenias (oneshot, mature, canon-divergent)

Vegas has very few things he truly allows himself to care for, in this life. Going through the routine of feeding his hedgehog, only to find that a second pet has left him in as many weeks, might finally be the thing that pulls him under.

Events go differently with Pete's escape and Vegas's hedgehog. I'll be honest, this one is on here because it feels like it was written for me a little bit. I'm quite fond of it.

Separated by a degree by shamiram (wip, explicit, au)

Pete doesn't quite know how he went from being a street thug working at an illegal boxing ring to being a bodyguard for one of the most powerful men in Thailand, but he isn’t exactly complaining. or: Vegas meets Pete at an underground boxing ring, and everything spirals uncontrollably for both of them

This is an omegaverse fic with omega!Vegas and Alpha!Pete. Also a boxer AU. I really love the VegasPete dynamic in this one and how the author approaches canonical events through this AU.

dancing in a snow globe by incendir (oneshot, mature, post-canon)

“Can’t sleep?” Pete echoes back. “Without you, no,” Vegas says quietly. “I can’t.” [Or, five times Pete is asked about Vegas, and one time he isn't]

Conversations Pete has in the aftermath of canon. I really love their dynamic in this one. It's all about the codependence and mutual obsession.

The Coexistence of Opposite Values by destimushi (oneshot, explicit, post-canon)

Vegas can’t remember how it started. Can’t remember the day he decided inflicting pain would also bring him pleasure. Not satisfaction, not fulfilment, but a burning pleasure that sets his dick on fire. Pete asks for a caning. Vegas has thoughts about it.

I really love this fic's exploration of Vegas and his relationship to kink before and after Pete.

take me to your planet by any_open_eye (oneshot, explicit, missing scene)

Pete’s face is doing something. He thinks he might be smiling. He feels fucking high. What the hell is happening to him? He knows afterglow and this isn't it. If it was, he'd be way more into sex. There were people in high school and then one long-term girlfriend a few years ago, but she never—it was nothing like this. This is like… that blissful moment between sleeping and waking when you're conscious of your body but not yet of your mind. Just a vessel of receptors and processes. Electrified meat. “That was good, right?” Vegas's hands are on him. “Tell me it was good.”

Probably my favorite fic set within canon. I've reread this one so many times. It so beautifully connects episode 12 to the start of episode 13, and I really love Pete's headspace in this one.

even the clearest water by LuckyDiceKirby (oneshot, mature, post-canon)

He pulled Pete in for another kiss. Pete shoved him, hard, and Vegas fell back a few steps. He was breathing fast, his palms flat against the door. Vegas hadn’t seen him this scared in a long time. “What’s wrong?” Vegas asked. “I need you to shut me up,” Pete said. “I don’t care how. Use your belt, your shirt, I don’t care, just don’t let me talk.” - Vegas and Pete get dosed with a truth drug. No one ends up having a good time.

Pete's characterization in this fic is painful and incisive. Darkly delicious, this one.

Brand Recognition by iffervescent (oneshot, explicit, au)

Vegas wants his top billing back. Pete likes being on the bottom.

Super hot, smutty, smutty porn. I really loved Vegas's characterization in this too, especially his obsession with aftercare.

If You Had Something to Lose by raelle (wip, explicit, au)

When Pete saves a bleeding, gorgeous stranger from being killed by the Yakuza, that man opens doors to a world of submission and pleasure he’d never known before. When Vegas is saved by a beautiful college student, he knows he doesn’t want to let the man slip through his fingers. The two of them start up an arrangement: kinky sex, but only casually. But with the Yakuza on the hunt for the person who took down their men, and the main family asking questions about where Vegas goes when he disappears, how long will their casual arrangement last? – OR: Pete is a college student. Vegas is in the mafia. They shouldn’t meet, but they do, and their spark is impossible to ignore.

This one is just fun. I've been super enjoying the wild ride it takes me on every Friday. If you are looking for a fun fic to really dive into and spend some time in, this is it.

Other Recs

Intermission by Lise (Macau centric, teen, missing scenes)

His brother's in the hospital, his dad's dead, and his only ally is the main family bodyguard who was stalking Vegas, who seems to be a little unhinged. Macau, in the aftermath.

Really great exploration of Macau and what he might have been going through in episode 14 (aka he was not having a good time). I really love the range of emotions Macau processes in this and how he bonds with Pete. Great fic.

Dad Joke by nonplussed (Macau & Porchay & Pete, teen)

Technically written for day 1 of VP Fan Week for the prompt 'fake relationship', except there is no fake dating in this fic. There is, however, fake dad-ing

Delightful little fic about Macau and Chay bonding and giving Pete a hard time (with special guests Porsche and Vegas). Love this one.

reignite by lusn (Namphueng centric, teen, post-canon)

Namphueng has been endlessly dreaming. She can only tell because for the first time in years, she might finally be awake.

A darkly compelling exploration of Namphueng as she reacts to canonical events. Deeply love this character exploration and all it's terrible implications.

fuck it all back down by syzygetic (Vegas/multiple, explicit, canon-divergent)

Everything about sex is performative. There is no such thing as fucking without an agenda, at least in Vegas’s experience. He wouldn’t have survived to adulthood if he was precious about shit like that. Vegas and some of the men he sleeps with in his desperate, rage-filled attempts to be loved or hated--either will work.

I found this one to be a really compelling Vegas character study centering on his obsession with Kinn.

checkmate (series) by majestictortoise (teen/mature, post-canon)

I've actually only read the first few fics in this series, but I adore all of them and plan to finish the rest as soon as I have the time. The author has such an incredible grasp on the characterization for pretty much everybody and I love how they are continuing the story post-canon (aka operation kill korn).

With the caveat that I tend to make deep cuts before I post, here's an unedited snippet from Ch 18:

“What happened” was a broom accident that ruined everything. If it hadn’t been for that broom accident, she’d be flying instead of taking tea and talking. She’d be sneaking out between classes and she’d… … she’d lift up above the ground and all her problems would be way down there in a teeny-tiny somewhere. And she’d barrel down the pitch, building speed as she swooped and swerved to finally hurl her Quaffle - the left hoop would be Salazar Slytherin with his stupid secret chamber and the right hoop would be his supersized sidekick snake and right in the center hoop would float Tom Riddle’s stupid smug face and she’d spend all year slamming Quaffle after Quaffle after Quaffle at all three of them, until she could no longer picture that trio without bloody noses and blacked eyes. But there had been a broom accident. So now she was stuck on the ground staring at runes and fading her freckles and pretending stick figures were art and slurping stupid-arse tea.

Bunny, you are WONDERFUL, thank you for asking about them/this story!! <333333 hmmm, okay, things to say about the story that don't totally reveal the mystery...what about a grab bag of lore about the upcoming chapter and things that have inspired different aspects of the whole piece?

the next chapter involves literary riddles (which will make this the second third fic in which I will have sent Nate on a bookish scavenger hunt lmao. at this point i might be indistinguishable from a bridge troll with my riddles three...or the library equivalent of one)

the term the ~mysterious voice~ called them in ch3 (Nachzehrer) will (probably) pop back up again next chapter

some things I've been (re)reading specifically for Story Reasons:

a book of love letters between Rainier Maria Rilke and Lou Andreas-Salomé (there are some lines in that book that are so deeply N-coded that they make me a little crazy)

a lot, a lot of Adrienne Rich (and specifically this poem, especially the first 1-2 stanzas of section II...the "what is not simple: to wake from drowning/...these two selves who walked half a lifetime untouching" destroys me, in general, but particularly in the context of N + A...!!)

I do ALSO have a snippet from the scene I was working on earlier today — dropping it below a cut with the caveats that:

1) it's not from the next chapter (and *probably* won't appear for at least another couple of chapters) and 2) it's somewhat spoilery as it's from a more...emotionally intimate section 😌 BUT it doesn't have any spoilers that pertain to the plot/overall mystery! (and like, it's not exactly a spoiler that they love each other ahaha)

“Did you mean it? What you said back…there?” For a long while, Adam was silent, his face inscrutable. Long enough that Nate wondered if he ought not to have brought it up, to have prompted a revisit of that particular conversation.  That particular confession. But Nate had never been good at pretending not to feel as he did. Had never had Adam’s gift for locking his emotions away, unexamined and ignored.  Still, after another long moment, another glance at his oldest friend’s face, another attempt to see whatever thoughts and emotions churned beneath that impassive facade, he offered, “We can leave it there — in that...place — if that is what you wish. Only tell me, please, if you meant it. What you said, before. Just…please.” Nate could not quite bring himself to say it more plainly, to let that bright kernel of emotion fill his mind — fill his heart —  just yet. “Only this once, please: tell me, and then we need never speak of it again, if that is what you would prefer.”

Have you ever drawn fanart for a fandom?: Aside from the Shadow vessel sponge painting I did in eighth grade art class, no. I’d like to change that though, because some of my off the wall AUs could do with visual content.

You’re trying to convince a friend to get into your current fandom(s) with you. what episode, clip, or scene are you showing them?: I am not showing ANYONE Halo, unless you come to me saying you want to watch it. And then I’m going to give you a bunch of caveats about how I’m obsessed with it but it’s really not that great except for when it is and you shouldn’t take it too seriously. Buckle up and grab your adult beverage of choice.

For game-verse Halo I’d show Johnson’s speech about the tank in Halo 2 because that’s what Mr showed me to rope me in.

Mandalorian, the first episode.

Babylon 5, I would start with the pilot movie if I could find it and then not let up until you’d watched five seasons of emotional roller coaster. I’d tell you what JMS said in the commentaries for Shattered Dreams and Sleeping in Light and Deconstruction of Falling Stars and how many of the actors died too young. After War Without End I would show you the video where JMS drops the bomb about why Michael O’Hare left the show. By the end of it you’d love the show but you might not love me anymore. 🤣

And finally, what does fandom mean to you?: A place where I can explore the highs and lows of the human experience in a safe environment. Sometimes I can put a little broken piece of myself into a fanfic or headcanon and not feel so broken anymore. I can “talk” about things in fiction that I can’t in real life.

A place where I can meet cool people whose paths I never would have crossed had we not been abnormal about a certain show or character. ❤️

Words posted: 102,068. This is the first year I've ever broken 100k posted to AO3. Word count is divided between 35 complete works, six themed DADWC snippet collections, and two WIPs.

Highest Kudos: Not counting those fics visited by whatever guest kudos generating entity, it was instead of just leaving (Dragon Age, Alistair/Zevran, E) at 68 kudos.

Highest Kudos to Hits ratio: Oh this is too much to think about... I think it may currently be this tiny ficlet, No Rest (Dragon Age, Sigrun & Velanna, G), which had 3 kudos and 12 hits last I looked. In general, though, I write for many small fandoms and rare characters/ships with a high kudos to hits ratio!

Highest Hit Oneshot: Looks to be cherry pink (and apple blossom white) (Fallout: New Vegas, f!Courier/Veronica, T). My preferred story for this is that it got linked on a forum somewhere, and people who like video game femslash but don't comment or use AO3 are reading it. I hope my imaginary audience is enjoying themselves.

New Things I Tried: DADWC! Writing omegaverse.

Fic I Spent the Most Time On: caveat emptor! (Dragon Age, Anders/Nathaniel Howe, M). There were 20 drafts and three betas. I agonized. I have also been spending an obscene amount of time on an unfinished drabble sequence and another longish DA oneshot that is unlikely to be completed anytime soon

Fic I Spent the Least Time On: As I've said before, this was you’d never forget me (Fallout: New Vegas, Christine/Veronica, T), which resolved itself from nothingness in about a day and was a pleasure to write. I was trying to treat everyone who requested Fallout: New Vegas in the Chocolate Box exchange last year, and I'd really hit my stride when I was writing it.

Favorite Thing I Wrote: I think it was actually this tiny fic for sunrisetune about Anders as a cat!

Favorite Thing I Read: The "Dream-Talks" of Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav, translated by Arthur Green. I read them aloud with a friend who does dream research and it was a good time.

Writing Goals for 2023: Wouldn't you like to know!! No, jk. I would like to complete at least three one-shots over 10k words, one more than this year. And have fun.

Michael thinks it's funny, cute even, and teases Luke relentlessly. But the couple Luke's trying to date now is actually really nice, and that's fine; Luke deserves the best, right? Then why does Michael wish they'd dump Luke?

Summary: Luke’s boyfriend touched him all the time, but it didn’t feel right anymore. It made Luke’s skin crawl, which was fucked up, because he used to love being touched. In hindsight, it was probably his body trying to tell his brain something wasn’t right with his relationship. At the time, he just thought there was something wrong with him.

Regardless of the reason, the strength of the urge to smother Calum against his chest took him aback, because he hadn’t felt anything like that in so long. And he kinda liked it, which really scared him.

Summary: “Yeah, you can come along,” Calum says, smiling while he rocks the porch swing with his toes. “I could use a co-pilot.” After all the time he spent reminiscing on his bedroom floor, it feels like in a strange way he misses Luke.

Or actually, it’s not really Luke he misses, it’s being young and carefree, just happy, with no caveats.

But still, Calum craves the reconnection, curious to see if the Luke that’s next to him now can still make him feel even a taste of what seven-year-old summer Calum felt.

All fic requests are for entirely new fics, no continuing on preexisting WIPs (except for adding onto a series that is explicitly set in the same universe, such as the TMA/BNHA crossover brainrot <3 universe, the todofam-plus-izuku's adventures in vigilantism universe, or The Phantom of Shinomori Prefecture universe. Additionally, I'm also open to anything that would fit into the afohiko peddling series or the in which tim stoker is entity catnip series). If you want me to work on my multichapter WIPs because I have so many of those and never update any of them, I also have an option to Sponsor a WIP!

My rate is $10 per chapter for any requests sent! The first chapter will be roughly 2k words at a minimum, any later chapters will be a minimum/rough estimate of 1k. The fandoms I will write for are listed (alphabetically) below the cut, as well as what kind of prompts I will or will not write:

Crossovers! Any crossover between any of the fandoms listed below. I'll also do a crossover with Tokyo Ghoul on request (just not a Tokyo Ghoul fic, like, on its own. I am not caught up on anything and quite frankly I straight up don't remember who anybody is)

Six Sentence Sunday

New Dathomir AU below the cut. Feral's chapter's done, so I've started poking at Savage's just to get a sense of what his motivations look like. Three or four other WIPs on rotation until the end of the month, at which point I'm going to crawl back into Crown of Horns (which my husband is now calling Crown of Hornies 😩) and you probably won't see me until the spring.

Caveats: I sort of suspect that this is only relevant for maybe two people who are tracking my work at this point, but you don't get the Fandom Cryptid badge without mysteriously disappearing for months at a time to work on something obscure that will only appeal the smallest sliver of a virtually non-existent readership. I love those two people, though. Y'all keep me from deleting.

Three Princes / Pt. II - The Shadow Hand (Savage x Reader)

Caveat: this is how many I've posted, I've written way more but I ain't doing that math right now. I only went as far as calculating how many words carried over from 2020 and subtracted them from my statistical total. So this includes the tail ends of Twist, The Cutting Room Floor, A Wolf Named Vengeance and Just Like Fire, but not the wordcount of each from last year.

New Things I Tried: Deliberate epic-ness. I set out to write What a Wicked Game to Play as fully fleshed out as possible. Twist being over 150K words was kinda accidental. I'm curious to see just how long I can string WG out without losing the plot entirely.

Fic I Spent the Most Time On: WG, for sure. I started it initially in January, put it down for a couple months, had Imogen spring fully formed from my head like a thunderbolt, then by April I had started writing it again and I'm still working on it now. No end in sight.

Fic I Spent the Least Time On: Tossup between several oneshots that were all written, edited, beta'd and posted on the same day. The winner, however, is probably Could You Get Any Louder?, a tumblr prompt that I wrote in the ask box reply then polished up and posted to AO3 as well. Incidentally, this is also the last thing I wrote for Mass Effect, the rest of my work this year being for DA:I.

Favorite Thing I Wrote: *snorts in poly* I don't play favorites, but there are some standouts. WG, obviously. I love Imogen with my whole heart and soul. But also: Hope Is a Fragile Thing, where I successfully wrote the whole fic before posting a single word of it. No More My Heart Beats Without You, an attempt to write something heartshatteringly tragic. And Of Ruins and Restoration, a surprise that slid in and out of my head just three days ago. It has promise to turn into a whole new fic (and pairing) for me.

Favorite Thing I Read: Again, favorites aren't a thing with me. But if we go by fics I binged to catch up on, followed from the start or went back to time and again, I have a list.

Indavisable, by Elvesinmyheart, Pikapeppa. The Ancient Elvhen Boyband and the fantastic women who love them. With art, both in and of the fic. *chef's kiss*

Dead Pasts and Dread Futures, by youworeblue. I was scared of it at first. A fix-it/do over that starts with death isn't usually my cup of tea. I have never been more wrong. This fic led me to a new friendship, joining a new discord server and ultimately becoming a better writer myself.

Coiling Time, by Enceladus(EspressoComfort). TTMCIT, that's Time Traveling Modern Character In Thedas. The concept hooked me from the start, the writing kept me coming back for more.

Sunday, Domestic, by JessaLRynn. (This one is locked, so you have to be signed in to AO3 to see it) Did you know that I have a soft spot for the Ninth Doctor? Well, you do now. The characterization of him and Rose is so good in this I think I've read it nearly a dozen times.

I'll Still Destroy You, by Yours_Truly_Commander_Shepard. It's dark, it's tragic, it's powerful. I've read it and reread it more than I should admit to. Sometimes you just need words that hurt your heart.

The Taming of Fen'Harel, by beaubashley. And sometimes you just need a feel-good, happy ending road trip with your favorite eldritch trickster god. Even if (when?) he's an idiot.

Probably goes without saying that these are all rated E, because I am shameless about loving smutty fics.

Writing Goals For Next Year: Keep going on WG. Write the rest of R&R and a couple other WIP's I have stashed on the back burner. Hopefully get to have my shot at being my bestie's beta.

Considerations... (8/26/2021)

Greetings everyone! This post is meant to summarize everything that’s been going through my head in regards to my content creation/curation recently. This will be a long post, so I’ll put most of this under the cut!

Starting with my Youtube content, I’m thinking about doing some quicker, lower effort videos to make the gap(s) between videos less than a month long. Of the ideas that adhere to that quicker model, I I have three that include... - Idea Blurbs Summarized: A series in which I read off the ideas I keep in my Idea Blurbs Doc, going one month at a time in terms of release. - Hero Makers: A series where I (and possibly some friends) make original characters from a prompt/concept. - Sorta Dumb Summaries: A series where I attempt to humorously summarize X thing, whether that be a story, event, or friend interaction. Another thought I had was getting a standalone camera for live action filming, though it’s on the the bench for the fact that my phone works mostly fine for video production.

I really don’t know what to do with my Twitter besides liking cool art and occasionally sharing some shorter thoughts of mine.

In regards for this platform, I’ve been thinking about making monthly posts that contain all of the art I made within said month. They will likely be released on the final day of each month so long as I remember and am not caught up in some other time sink. On top of that, I’m still workshopping what will be the next digitally written story that will hit the airwaves on this platform, so maybe I should do a poll for that.

As for the possibly exciting bit, I’m considering opening up commissions for more than just my own gain! My mantra has always been that I enjoy being of assistance when it comes to most things, including visual assets. Once again, I’m not too experienced with commissions due to the fact that my only commissioners have been people I know in person, but I’m willing to start work on setting up a commissions sheet with some caveats. Those caveats include... - I will not take more than what the listed price is unless there is more than one item. - I will gladly utilize reference images if provided. - I will do animated commissions at a higher price than non-moving art. - I will send the WIP versions of the commissioned item when prompted. This commission sheet will be included in the coming update of my FAQ post once it comes to fruition.

It’s Ficlet Time!

It’s been kind of a while since I did proper more-than-”three-sentence” ficlets, and I’m between WIPs without enough time to do a proper one before NaNoWriMo! Which means I can write some ficlets for people for the next ~two weeks.

If you’re new around here, or would just like a reminder of the rules: drop a trope/other kind of prompt and a ship (or group of gen characters) in my askbox! I can’t promise 100% of prompts will be answered, for which I apologize, but I do try to write at least something. Anything you’ve seen me talk about or write about is generally fair game. If you don’t have prompt ideas, I have a tag with some curated.

Caveat #1: If you tell me “for whatever ship or canon” you are getting D&D fic, so prepare yourself for that.

Caveat #2: If you say “whatever you want to write for [x ship]” you may not get your ficlet written, any prompt at all is better than none!
