OTTERSHAW PARK
The mansion
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi guys!!
I'm sharing Ottershaw Park. This is the 18th building for my English Collection.
I decorated most of the house ground floor, for reference.
The interiors:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
History of the house: In 1784 Thomas Sewell died and ownership of Ottershaw Park passed to his son, Thomas Bailey Heath Sewell, Lieutenant Colonel in the Surrey Fencible Cavalry. He sold it in 1796 to Edmund Boehm who improved the interior of the house and enlarged the estate by buying tracts of wasteland and allotments.
In about 1805 Boehm built, to the design of the eminent architect James Wyatt, two Grecian-style lodges at the new entrance to the estate from where a coach road ran to the mansion. The same architect may also have designed for Boehm the Gothic Chapel which originally served as a kitchen, bake house, dairy and pantry but was demolished in 1962.
Ottershaw Park was bought in 1819 by Major General Sir George Wood, a Lieutenant General in the Bengal Army. At this time the estate was largely self-supporting with stables, smithy, brew house, bake house, laundry, dairy, slaughter houses, ice house and two farms.
Sir George died in 1824 and the estate passed to his son, also named George, who in 1841 sold the property to Richard Crawshay who built a new bailiff’s house, farm buildings and brew house.
On Crawshay’s death in 1859 the estate was bought by Sir Thomas Edward Colebrooke MP, who made a number of alterations to the mansion. He also gave the money and land for the building of Christchurch and the first village school.
The estate was later sold to Lawrence James Baker, a stockbroker and MP who sold it in 1910 to the millionaire, Friedrich Gustav Jonathan Eckstein. Eckstein demolished the old mansion and replaced it with the present building designed by Niven & Wigglesworth which is more magnificent and much larger.
During World War I Eckstein made the building available to the British Red Cross as an Auxiliary Home Hospital but soon after the war sold it to Miss Susan Dora Cecilia Schintz, the daughter of a Swiss nitrates millionaire. Miss Schintz lost most of her sizeable inheritance through gifts to charity and bad investments and finally had to sell the estate. Much of it was acquired by the Ottershaw Park Investment Company (OPIC) which planned to develop the rim of the estate for housing. In 1932 the mansion and central part of the park became Ottershaw College, a boarding school for boys which for a short time was very successful, but eventually became insolvent and finally closed at the outbreak of World War II.
During the war The Vacuum Oil Company leased the mansion as offices and laboratories. From 1940 much of the surrounding land was either ploughed for crops or grazed as part of the war effort and the woodland areas were used by the 19 Vehicle Reserve Depot (VRD) for storing vehicles.
The Vacuum Oil Company moved back to London at the end of 1947 and Surrey County Council established Ottershaw School which was opened in 1948. The school prospered until 1980 when it closed due to financial constraints.
In 1982 the developers DeltaHome converted the mansion and other buildings into the present residential estate.

hihi its time for even more lancer fic
this one is about a girl who died in a bomb, and got stitched back together by a forbidden superweapon, victim of the cruelest of fates. now she's bound both psychically and physically to a weapon, made in the image of one of the Five Fiendish Weapons of Old Mankind.
please enjoy!
Arablissa Sopora ix-Nerva died once already. She was on her Grand Tour, leaving the holdings of the House of Smoke for the first time, with her household guard and ladies-in-waiting all in tow with her, as befit her status. It's just how she died was kind of a conflux of bad luck. Maybe its payback for the blessed life she had already lived. The seventh daughter of an Underbaron of the House of Smoke- a man who adored and spoiled her as the only child he did not have to apprentice to his various patrons. She went to a little shop down a back alley, directed by the scent of Eyaleti spices, finding a sweets shop, and ordering a flan. It was a little treat to share with her accompanying maids. The Old Man had said it was his specialty, a spiced flan one could only taste thanks to his friendship with a Karrakin spice-merchant. A little taste of home, this far in the bordermarches.
That's when the bomb the Grammaton had set went off, just like that, a prophecy was supposed to be severed. A great karmic whorl stopped. The Old Man was the target, but he always had a way out- but not Arablissa and her maids. The ones that died looked a bit like hamburger. But the Barons of the House of Smoke, they tend to breed… redundancies, into their children. Takes them a while to die properly, they spend a long time in a limbo-state of shock. A wonderful failsafe when you expect to be pulling your heir out of a wrecked cavalry frame or claiming his body after a duel. So it ended up that Arablissa could survive for a little bit while missing most of her torso.
And the Old Man saw a chance for a little impromptu experiment, like in the old days. He had an idea that involved this half-dead scion. He had something in the basement, an old toy he recovered from his last laboratory. It was no Conqueror of Mars, but… it had its uses.
And so he interred the now mostly-dead Arablissa inside the maw of a Forget-Me-Not; a banned biomachina, a thing crafted in the image of one of the Five Fiendish Weapons of Old Mankind. He linked the dying Arablissa's brain with the neural matrix of the mech, and he abandoned them.
And a few hours later, Arablissa was alive again. Stitched back together with the flesh provided by her maids and the Berserker Cells provided by Dinner For Two.
=======
The young lady is sitting in a bare concrete room, on a shitty plastic folding chair, in front of a shitty little plastic table. Next to the table is the last of her luggage, slightly burned, filled with what few outfits and necessities she had with her. All she had with her. For example, the fine ceramic plate and sterling spoon that sat upon the shitty little table. Atop the fine china for the evening was a small slice of cake. Her clothes are rumpled, gone off, unwashed as the rest of her seems to be. Her head tilts wearily at you, lank hair hanging in strands around her eyes. "Oh. Uh. I didn't expect a guest. I don't. Have any extra to share. And… I don't have the kettle on, or unpacked…" She rights her head and looks behind her, eyes following the umbilical linking her to the mech. "I think… there might be one in there?" She gestures sort of vaguely at the mouth-like cockpit opening in the mech's chest, from which the umbilical spills.
"I… wouldn't go in there if I was you though. You know. Mech security. Genetic template reads. That… kind of thing." She gives a weak smile. Her words are at once very truthful, and a complete lie. Her face really says it all. 'Please don't go inside the mech I think it will eat you and I don't want to think about what that means while I'm cycling fluids with it.' She picks up the sterling spoon and slices the cake with it, parting cream and icing and syruped fruit with a smooth motion. "If you um… don't mind waiting for me to finish eating, I can put on some tea and we can talk… Cause… are you here to give me a job? I could… really use one."
You cannot properly see her skin, under the sleeves of her once-fine jacket, cut in Karrakin military style, the slate gray of House of Smoke stained in a few places with what… seems like blood, on second inspection. But you can see her right hand, which… doesn't look like proper flesh. If the rest of her looks clammy, it simply looks fake. You can see, in the veins on the back of her right, pulses of gray. Little nodules pushing their way slowly through the veins, up and back towards the sleeve. Her other hand looks like it had been split in half and roughly glued back together. Between her middle and ring fingers, running down to her wrist, is a fresh and red scar. You think you see it begin to weep a thin gray liquid. She eats another spoonful of cake, and the mech behind her stirs.
Its taloned hands rest upon its thighs, it kneels in the concrete room, back scraping the ceiling. Its blunt, lizardlike face twitches to alertness, swinging a blind skull towards you before settling back to rest. Its body is all smooth black musculature, covered in long woven layers of flesh- all bound together. It almost looks like the thing is wearing a long duster. You feel like the mouth-cockpit closes a few feet, and the umbilical is definitely slithering back inside. Its certainly getting more taught against the woman's back. "My name is… Arablissa. Arablissa Sopora ix-Nerva. You… probably knew that, right?" You shake your head. She looks kind of like she wants to cry, but manages to just eat another spoonful of cake. "Um. If you can transport us-" She jerks her head backwards, towards the mech. "-we'll fight. We really will. Just. If you're getting offworld, that's… that's what I want."
She pauses a moment, splitting the heel of the cake in two, eating her second-to-last slice. "I… you're here about the Old Man, right." You nod your head. "I. I don't know where he is. He did this to me. So. I'm not hiding him. I want to know what this is… that he did to me…" She picks up her last slice withe the spoon with a gentle scoop, and finally meets your eyes. Hers are yellowed, and you would say bloodshot- but they aren't red. There is gray, in her eyes. You see something black swim through the scalera of her left eye. "You can hire me… to hunt him. If you want to. I'd take… that job." She eats her last slice of cake.
"Do… do you want me to put the kettle on for you? I… I used to have like… servants for this. I'm… really sorry about being inhospitable."

BeeTober 2023 Day 7 - Interview
Albedo has barely settled into his newly assigned laboratory when the door is being flung open with no regards for propriety. Albedo is upset over the entrance but by no means surprised.
He was only waiting for the other Captain to corner him ever since he saw the star-shaped pupil.
“So,” the Captain drawls out as he closes the door behind him and Albedo guesses the motion is supposed to be intimidating.
The effect is missed on him though, since it’s not as if anyone in Mondstadt could really hurt him. Besides, so far everyone has been really nice and accommodating to him and Albedo is willing to take his chances, even with the barely concealed fury in the other’s eye.
“Hello,” Albedo gives back as politely as he can, turning towards the other man to give him his full attention. “What can I help you with?”
“Cut the crap,” is the hissed answer he gets. “What are you doing here? What’s your objective?”
Albedo tilts his head at that.
“Is this an interrogation?” he asks, because he just talked to Jean the other day and she asked him all kinds of questions too. He thought he got that out of the way.
“Think of it more as an interview of sorts,” the man answers, his voice not at all friendly and Albedo sighs.
“Well, Jean started the interview with an introduction.”
It’s not a subtle dig at his manners and it seems it takes the other Captain off guard because he blinks at him for a moment.
“Unbelievable,” the man mutters as he rolls his eye. “Kaeya. Cavalry Captain.”
“Nice to make your acquaintance, Captain Kaeya,” Albedo gives back, pleasant as everything, and he has to admit it’s kind of enjoyable to see how he gets under Kaeya’s skin. “My name is Albedo.”
“No last name?” Kaeya sneers out and Albedo frowns.
“I guess the Acting Grand Master put Kreideprinz down but that’s more of an informal title than anything else.”
Since it’s already put down in official documents Albedo doesn’t see a problem with sharing that with Kaeya, though he still dislikes the fact that Kaeya doesn’t provide his own last name.
“What are you here for, Albedo Kreideprinz? What’s your mission?” Kaeya asks, discarding every last shred of politeness and Albedo narrows his eyes when the temperature in the room drops slightly.
“I could ask you the same, Kaeya,” Albedo gives back, not willing to discuss anything with him.
“I’m not the one running around with proof of my allegiance out in plain sight,” Kaeya hisses, his gaze dropping to the star on Albedo’s neck.
“No, you just show it to everyone who bothers to lock gazes with you,” Albedo shots back and sees how Kaeya flinches back. “Besides, it’s hardly a proof of allegiance if it’s a birth mark imprinted on me by my mother.”
He’s not about to go into the fact that he’s not entirely human, but this Kaeya could mean trouble for him if he goes around telling everyone that he’s from Khaenri’ah. He would probably have to explain why he knows it, which he seems unwilling to do, but Albedo is not going to take that chance.
“Right. Who is your mother?” Kaeya asks him next and Albedo knows that the lack of a proper surname must bother him; Khaenri’ah only has a few stablished families and it would be easier for Kaeya to figure out what Albedo is up to if he had one, that is for sure.
But the same can be said for Albedo.
“What’s your last name?” Albedo asks instead of answering him and he sees how Kaeya works his jaw in anger.
“What does it matter to you?”
“What does it matter to you who my mother is?”
“You could be a danger to this city!”
“As could you. Where’s the difference?”
“I’ve lived here for years, you hardly have a connection to this town, so what would you care?”
“People here were nice to me,” Albedo says, in a tone that makes it clear he’s excluding Kaeya. “Sometimes that’s all it takes, isn’t it?”
It seems he has hit a nerve with that, because Kaeya falls quiet, clearly contemplating if revealing his last name is worth it.
Albedo doesn’t mention it, but he can probably just look it up in the official register.
“Alberich,” Kaeya finally gets out and now his reluctance makes a whole lot more sense.
Rhinedottir has kept Albedo out of court, hasn’t formally introduced him to anyone before they left but of course Albedo knows that the Alberich clan is the current ruling family.
Albedo’s gaze is drawn to Kaeya’s eyepatch and while before it didn’t make sense why he would hide one when the star and therefore proof of his ancestry is so visible in the other it comes together now. In every ruling family, there’s one born with the sun in his gaze, destined for more.
Albedo suspects it would draw attention, even up here.
He knows he should probably fall to a knee, or at least bow—Kaeya is a prince after all—but Albedo finds that he couldn’t care less. He didn’t care when he was still in Khaneri’ah and he definitely doesn’t care now.
Here, they are on equal footing.
But since Kaeya answered him, it’s only fair that he does the same.
“Gold. She’s my mother.”
Kaeya pales at that.
“You mean your creator,” he then whispers out and Albedo shouldn’t be surprised that he knows these things about Rhinedottir when she was working for the royal family most of Albedo’s life.
“Did she plant you here as some kind of bomb?” Kaeya demands to know and Albedo wonders the same, though of course he’s not going to mention that.
“She—” he hesitates because the assignment she gave him feels to personal to share but then again it’s just a general question. “She asked me to figure out the meaning of life,” Albedo admits with a shrug. “Whatever that entails.”
“Right,” Kaeya scoffs out, clearly not believing Albedo a single word he says. “Just remember this: if you hurt this city or anyone who lives in it, I’m going to make you pay.”
“That’s rich, coming from the hope of the Nation. What are you going to do if your family comes for you?” Albedo shoots back, because he will not be intimidated by a man who’s allegiance might be even more unclear than Albedo’s own.
“They won’t,” Kaeya says with more confidence than he clearly feels. “Anyway, don’t talk to me again,” Kaeya calls over his shoulder has he makes his way out of Albedo’s lab and Albedo is left staring after him.
“You came talking to me,” he then says into the now empty room, completely over this entire interaction and he vows to never talk to this irritating Captain ever again.
~*~*~
Albedo wakes with a smile and soft kisses being peppered over his face.
“What’s got you all smiling first thing in the morning?” Kaeya whispers, his every word accompanied by a kiss and Albedo laughs.
“What else am I going to do when you dote on me like that?” he gives back and pulls Kaeya in for a real kiss, morning breath be damned.
“You smiled even in your dream,” Kaeya says when they part and Albedo’s smile widens more, if that is even possible.
“I dreamed about our first meeting,” he cheekily says and watches how Kaeya’s eyes go wide.
Albedo loves the fact that Kaeya doesn’t feel the need to hide his eye around Albedo anymore and he breathes a kiss over the exposed eye.
“And that has you smiling? Our first meeting was so bad!”
“Because you were an unreasonable brat,” Albedo laughs out and pulls Kaeya into a hug. “An unreasonable brat who was scared,” he whispers into Kaeya’s hair and enjoys the way Kaeya hugs him close.
“I was shocked and panicking,” Kaeya admits. “And I apologized.”
“More than once,” Albedo agrees, kissing Kaeya’s hair. “And there was nothing to forgive.”
“But you did anyway, right?”
“But I did anyway, because you wouldn’t shut up about it,” Albedo says, slightly tugging on Kaeya’s hair. “But seriously, you were scared for the home you found for yourself. And you knew nothing of me. It was a reasonable course of action you took.”
“It was childish and immature,” Kaeya whines into Albedo’s neck. “Why did you have to dream about that? Couldn’t you dream about the time I confessed to you?”
“Because that was less childish and immature?” Albedo shoots back and laughs when Kaeya groans and tries to pull away.
Not that Albedo would let him.
“Shut up,” Kaeya grumbles. “You agreed to a date, so I must have done something right.”
“You did many things right before then, otherwise I wouldn’t have agreed,” Albedo tells him and tightens his arms around Kaeya. “I already loved you before that first date.”
Kaeya melts in his arms at that confession and when he peers up at Albedo he can’t help but to lean in for another kiss.
“Lucky me, I guess,” Kaeya mumbles when they part and Albedo smiles at him.
“Lucky us,” he corrects him and then pulls the blanket back over both of them.
There’s no need for them to get up yet and Albedo would rather spend some more time like this. And since there’s no harm in indulging that particular wish, he vows to keep them in bed for as long as he can today.
Everyone else can deal without them for a day.

Here’s another fic. Writing for these characters kinda sucked
It was a fun challenge though, so hopefully it’s up to par :)
Content Warning: some boring science stuff & tword content
Albedo murmurs to himself as he sketches, looking out at the snow that falls outside of his laboratory.
After a few moments, the alchemist breaks the silence, “you’ve finally arrived.”
The former Royal Guard of Khaenri’ah speaks from his post at the entrance of the lab, “yes, about those results I requested…”
“Yes, the Romaritime Flower extract has potential.”
“Do we have any other candidates?”
“Not as of now, but I have a colleague of mine on the way with a promising specimen.”
“Who is this ‘colleague’, I might ask?”
“Ah, Kaeya, the Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius.”
“Kaeya…Albreich?”
Albedo nods, “yes, Dansleif, you don’t seem as reluctant to meet him this time around.”
“I’ve had a drink or two with him back in Sumeru.”
“I see, which tavern?”
“The one south of Port Oromos.”
“Mm, interesting.”
The two stand there in silence. After a few minutes, the awaited specimen delivery arrives.
Kaeya nods to the two men, “hello, order for two?”
Albedo approaches Kaeya, “naturally, do you have it?”
Kaeya smiles, revealing a rare flower that Dainself has only seen a handful of times after the Cataclysm.
Dainslef’s eyes widen, “is that…an Inteyvat?”
Kaeya nods, “it is.”
Albedo takes the flower, resting it in a case, “this is the specimen I informed you of, Dainself.”
The former Royal Guard tilts his head slightly, “I know but…how did you get this, Kaeya?”
Kaeya smiles, “I just asked nicely, on behalf of a good friend of mine,” he pats Albedo on the shoulder.
“Yes,” said the Alchemist, “thank you, once again.”
Kaeya takes a seat in a spare chair, “of course.”
Albedo examines Kaeya as he sits, “you seem troubled, my friend.”
“Oh, it’s nothing you need to worry about, naturally.”
Dainself looks off in the distance as he speaks, “the atmosphere is heavy. Khaenri’ah is a mass grave at this point. Be grateful you’re not fated to hold onto this until Celestia falls.”
Kaeya sighs, looking depressed behind his smile, “heh, well, if you ever want to sit down and have a chat. You know, to take a load off for a bit, drinks are on me.”
Dainself looks at Kaeya, studying the Captain’s face, “I see. Well…thanks.”
Kaeya grins, “of course.”
Albedo tilts his head, “Kaeya, I have an experiment I would like to run. Are you willing to be my subject?”
“My, my, me again? Why not our new friend over there?” Kaeya nods at Dainself.
Albedo smiles and tilts his head, “I would, but I doubt the…predicament Dainself’s body is in would allow him to be a suitable subject.”
Dainself asks, “does this have to do with the Inteyvat flower?”
Albedo shakes his head, “no. The flower will have to ferment for a bit so I can confirm and explore the properties within it.”
Dainself sighs, “alright…continue your experiment, then. I will wait.”
Dainself sits down, ready to wait for however long it takes.
Albedo nods and approaches Kaeya, “so, are you willing to be my subject?”
“But of course, my friend.”
“So, just loosen up your collar just a bit…yes, just like that. I’ll take this for now,” Albedo takes the wolf’s fur draped over Kaeya’s right shoulder.
Kaeya sits there with his collar undone, the window of his outfit that revealed his clavicle was accentuated. Albedo takes a long, soft feather from a drawer in one of his desks in the laboratory.
Kaeya smirks at the feather, “I’ve never seen a feather that type before.”
“Naturally, I’ve crafted it myself.”
“Aha, I see. I assume asking about specifics would be beyond my understanding.”
“No, it would simply take a while.”
“Ah, and that’s an understatement, isn’t it?”
“Precisely.”
Albedo approaches Kaeya with the feather, lighting dragging it across his neck. Kaeya tilts his head, looking up at Albedo as a slight smile tugs at his lips. Albedo nods, watching his subject’s reactions, making mental notes of them. The tip of the feather goes up the back of Kaeya’s neck. Kaeya suddenly looks upward, scrunching up the back of his neck as he lets out a small giggle.
Albedo continues dragging the feather up and down as he speaks, “this is posterior to the spinal cavity. Your nervous system has peripheral sensors that go down the spine. It’s very common to feel sensitivity here. Due to the feather stimulating your nerves, it will put the rest of your nerve endings on alert. So, a place that originally triggered no response, will be more sensitive.”
Albedo drags the feather back along the front of Kaeya’s neck. This time around, Kaeya laughed softly, proving Albedo’s knowledge to be reliable.”
Kaeya grins, looking off to the side to project his giggles away from the alchemist.
Dainsleif watches them, expressionless, “what a peculiar experiment.”
Albedo continues studying Kaeya as he responds to the formal Royal Guard, “it’s so I can map out the nerves of the human body. I cannot do it based upon myself.”
Albedo drags the feather down to Kaeya’s clavicle, and the Captain’s giggles increase.
Kaeya speaks through his laughter, “am I- hahahaha- helping?”
Albedo nods, “yes. This is providing quite valuable results.”
After another second or so, Albedo removes the feather, setting back within the drawer it was pulled from.
“Thank you,” said the Alchemist.
“Anytime,” Kaeya snaps his collar back into place and takes his wolf’s fur drape from Albedo, rearranging it back upon his shoulder.
Dainsleif speaks up once more, “what is the status on the Inteyvat Flower?”
Albedo looks at the flower, slowly fermenting within the case, “yes. Yes, we may continue with the elixir you’ve been waiting for.”
“Good.”
“Let’s get started, shall we?”

I was trying to rewrite this encounter from Fëanor’s pov for the longer fic I’m working on, and it’s not really working so I might give up, but please enjoy this bit of Fëanor going about his days blithely not realizing that Maedhros has usurped most of his kingship:
There wasn’t less work to do when Maedhros was away from the fort. Objectively there was more, for there was no one Fëanor trusted so much to review paperwork before passing it to him for signature, or to handle meetings on his behalf, or a hundred other duties which only a crown prince—only a crown prince as excellently competent as Fëanor’s firstborn son!—could be deputized to manage.
But there was undeniably an additional measure of flexibility when Maedhros was absent. A crown prince might badger his father out of the laboratory; petty courtiers either wouldn’t dare or didn’t have the strength of will to keep trying after the third time Fëanor told them to go away; couldn’t they see he was busy? A crown prince might screen would-be petitioners so that only the important or interesting ended up before Fëanor’s seat; with Maedhros away hunting with his youngest brothers, Fëanor took meetings on the military budget (important but dull), saw new proposals for banner designs (none superior to the current banner), and spent exactly one afternoon formally hearing convoluted arguments about a disputed piece of land in southern Ladros before ruling that the cows themselves would own the land for the next fifty years, throwing all parties out of his throne room, and declaring that no more judgements would be passed, unless they be matters of life or death, until the prince returned.
Not that he begrudged Maedhros his respite! Quite the opposite—his son worked tirelessly at his craft of state, which now included war as well. It seemed like every time Fëanor came into his office, there was more correspondence on the desk, whether Maedhros was there or not.
With Maedhros away, Fëanor looked through it himself, of course, save those few that seemed private. Many were from Indis’s… from Maedhros’s cousins, and Fingolfin and Lalwen, because one of the greatest favors Maedhros had done his father was to take point on managing them. Fëanor skimmed several letters to be sure none of them were taking advantage of the generous heart behind his son’s sharp judgement…
Turgon was complaining about ‘unjust’ taxes on pearls, an ongoing argument. Finrod offered thanks for a royal edict Maedhros had managed entirely on his own regarding new discoveries about optimal farming strategies. Fingon suggested another joint military exercise next year between Lothlann’s cavalry and soldiers of Dorthonion. Of course he did! But all were adequately deferential, if familiar—as was best, of course. Neither treason nor fear of treason had any place here! The House of Finwë was united in might and purpose!
Fëanor returned to his laboratory for a few hours, then sent a courier off with new formulae to the larger experimental compound in Tumladen, where the test explosions might go unnoticed by all but the Eagles. He would get through the enemy’s mountains one day.

clara's vault: attention (kaebedo)
more days than not, the cavalry captain would look for him at the end of the work day and wait until he was finished. this could range anywhere from an hour to the end of the night, and he'd have to be coaxed out of his laboratory to go home, eat, and sleep for a handful of hours until the cycle continues again. on occasion when he finishes first, the alchemist would wait in his office to do the same, though the day always ends sooner than the other way around.
albedo sits on one of the plush seats across from him. his sketchbook is propped against his lap, pen caught in his fingers as he idly sketches his lover's office. it's small but brighter than his underground lab, though the curtains are drawn and shadows dance across the walls. the bookshelves are filled with old files and reports from his predecessors, open spaces decorated with trinkets.
a lantern resides on either corner of the table to illuminate the papers that kaeya works on through half-lidded eyes, feather quill moving languidly across the page. his cursive is unlike any other that albedo has seen, characterized by harsh lines, tight curves, and minimal strokes. it is impressive that it is legible despite its overall messy look.
whatever report he is writing continuously trips him up, as he often hesitates while choosing his words. whenever he does this, his gaze would focus on the edge of the table, faraway gleam in his eye. albedo would catch him out the corner of his own, tip of his pen caught lightly between his teeth. he's seen how multifaceted his partner is - cunning while at the bar, fearless on the field, efficient during meetings, loving at home. behind the desk, though, he's quiet and, single-mindedly focused on his task.
he's shed his jacket and gloves, stripped down to his white shirt with a low v-neck. albedo's gaze drifts from his contemplative expression to his chest, unable to help but admire the beautiful shape of his muscles, the contrast of colors, and its steady rise and fall. a voice jolts him out of his daze. "oh? is my dear prince checking me out?"
"i-i was just…" albedo shakes himself and tightens his grip around his pen to tap against the page. "i was simply observing."
his chuckle is low, eye soft with affection. "feel free to observe all you want. you've seen this and more." the comment makes albedo blush, and he hastily returns to his sketch. kaeya also goes back to his work, grabbing a new page to continue.
a few more minutes is all he needs before his report is completed. albedo helps tidy his desk and organize the papers for submission tomorrow, skimming over the contents. "this took you a while to write. what was it about?"
"unsavory business that you don't need to concern yourself with. it's been over and done with, and i'd be happier to put it behind us." he takes the papers from him to smooth out and place at the desk's center. "where shall we go for dinner?"
"good hunter? unless you feel inclined to cook."
"my own cooking? no. yours? always." kaeya pulls his jacket on and pockets his gloves. "i'm in the mood for meat."
albedo slings his bag over his shoulder. "how do you feel about skewers and salad?"
"sounds delectable."
they exit his office, hand in hand. spontaneous dates are uncommon because albedo also takes care of klee. however, she's at an overnight camp with her youth group, which leaves the couple free reign to do as they please.
after a quick trip to the market to pick up ingredients, they return to albedo's home. they often spend time there than kaeya's bachelor apartment, which is intimate yet bare because of his work. it is a narrow townhouse, the last in the residential block. the kitchen space is shared with the living room, the bedrooms on the second floor. there is also an enclosed backyard garden that is meticulously cared for, and a basement alchemy lab for nights when work must be continued after hours.
memories are everywhere - affixed to the walls with painted scribbles or inked sketches, photos along shelves accompanied by souvenirs to reinforce the memory, and a distinct number of dishes and cutlery to accommodate the occupants. albedo doesn't keep any possessions for himself, but traces of his presence are caught in the corners.
with their jackets strewn over the couch, the pair works alongside each other to prepare dinner.

category : 米哈游 原神 work title : borrowing a friend’s shirt and he’s jealous
Tumblr media
you were the kamisato estate’s favorite gardener. you made it your duty to ensure the greenery and the flora were tended to on a daily basis. with a strenuous job like yours, it was expected that things can get messy. after all, you spent most of your days kneeling on the soil, lugging around a heavy water can, and carrying your gardening tools to every area you worked on.
ayato narrowed his eyes at the sight of you standing, proud in the garden. you had your hands on your hips, visibly satisfied. he was in the middle of an easy stroll after staying cooped in his office for the past two weeks when he spotted you and your ‘interesting’ attire.
although you weren’t greatly familiar with one another, you were cordial at best. he shared a couple of conversations with you to break the tension in the air. it still didn’t prevent you from bowing at him out of formality; or the addled look you shot him for his haphazard question.
you wipe the sweat off your face in an attempt to make you look somewhat presentable around him. “pardon, my lord?”
“your clothes — they look different,” he explained, causing you to look down at your attire.
“oh!” you gasped. it finally clicked inside your head what he was trying to ask.
out of all the answers he anticipated, what you said left him the most disgruntled. you were in your work wear earlier when thoma saw how dirty and sweaty you had gotten, and offered an extra set of clothes for you after you cleaned up.
“hm? well, i didn’t know you two were well-acquainted…” he commented. though, the underlying tone of his voice made you raise a brow. he sounded rather annoyed.
when tomorrow arrived, you found yourself facing the same exact predicament. however, this time around you were prepared. right before you could reach for your bag, koharu intercepted and placed a fresh set in your hands. you didn’t question it, specially if it’ll save you from doing the laundry.
huh, it looked familiar… smelled like it too. you squinted. the shade of blue reminded you of someone… but who? welp, it didn’t matter anymore; you were too distracted by how soft the fabric felt against your skin to ponder.
unbeknownst to you, a certain hydro user smiled to himself when he caught a glimpse of you in the distance.
Tumblr media
the majority of the patrons of angel’s share weren’t a rowdy crowd, albeit inebriated, they continue to maintain a proper composure. neither shattering a glass and spilling its contents nor starting any brawls. overall? your shifts at the beloved tavern were mostly peaceful and uneventful.
you may have spoken too soon tonight because a drunkard accidentally spilled his beverage on you on your way out after your shift. luckily for you, kaeya was around when it all happened. the cavalry captain insisted you borrow his shirt in the meantime. unluckily for albedo, though, he was in for a shock when you arrived at his laboratory wearing another man’s clothes.
did he catch a fever? or what about the flu? he felt… funny. your lover couldn’t pinpoint what it was but he knew that it had something to do with you returning to him in an unfamiliar top. aside from that, he took note of its ill fit and concluded you didn’t own it.
he felt proud of himself that he immediately deduced it but that feeling was fleeting. his grip on his pen tightened once it dawned on him that you were wearing a shirt that neither of you owned. so, if it wasn’t yours… or his… then whose is it? while he was still in the middle of wrapping his head around the whole “love” and “romance” thing, even he was aware that dressing in another individual’s clothes, no matter their relationship status, was a sign of intimacy and closeness.
he was brought back to reality thanks to your touch. “relax, my love,” you beamed, resting a hand on top of his, “you’re seconds away from snapping your pen in half.”
“what happened to your blouse?”
“i was exiting the tavern when a patron spilled their drink on me. kaeya was there earlier — he was kind enough to let me borrow his shirt for the night...” pause ensued for a moment before he chose to respond. how petty of him to do that.
“very kind of him indeed.”
hearing his pointed tone, you hugged him from behind and rubbed his chest to soothe his growing annoyance. to your relief, it worked.
“hey, hey. there’s no need to be upset,” you softly chastised, earning a low hum of agreement from him, “i’ll make sure to return it when i seem him tomorrow so you can go quit your jealous charade.”
jealous? albedo contemplated, inwardly sounding off every syllable inside his head. is that what he felt? he didn’t know but he chose to humor you anyway.
“thank you, darling.”

3k milestone masterlist | main masterlist
you always liked flowers.
there was always something about them that pleased your eyes. maybe it’s the colors that make each flower stand out from the rest on display whenever you walk past floral whisper, the way it makes mondstadt beautiful during festivals where people use them as decorations, or how they remind you of someone.
they remind you of albedo.
he’s pretty, just like them. he stands out, just like them. he grows, just like them. he’s admired, just like them. instead of its aesthetic that you admired from flowers, it’s the fact that they all reminded you of the chief alchemist that won your heart, just like how they too won your heart.
you were grateful that there are a lot of commissions from the adventurers’ guild that can take you to dragonspine, the place where the alchemist often goes to for his personal laboratory. you honestly could care less about the fact that the region is also one of the most dangerous ones known around mondstadt, but you didn’t care. besides, you have your pyro vision with you to help you warm yourself up from the freezing temperatures.
on occasions when you’re doing the commissions in the mountain, you often mine starsilvers and pick resources that you think would be helpful to both albedo’s paintings and experiments, using that as an excuse to stop by and chat with him.
he’s quite a charmer, you thought. though, not in a way like the cavalry captain that could make most ladies around the city swoon from it, but in a way that made you all the more fall in love with albedo more.
even if he’s just talking about the ways of life, paintings, or even his experiments, when you asked him to indulge himself with that soft-spoken voice of his, it charmed you completely.
he’s undeniably nice as well if need be. whenever you come by, he’ll immediately offer you a chair nearby and let you sit by the fire, knowing that you’ll be staying with him for a while to keep yourself comfortable from the cold. he also sometimes cooks up food for you if the both of you stayed longer than intended in the laboratory, and you could instantly hear wedding bells as soon as you first tasted his foods. how could a man be so perfect?!
you didn’t mind if his feelings for you were unrequited, your crush was just a small one anyway so it wasn’t a big deal.
until it became one.
it was one morning when you found yourself instantly waking up from something that’s rising towards your throat before you rushed towards the bathroom and tried to puke it out, only for you to be horrified at the sight of blood-covered cecilias on the sink.
it can’t be, you thought to yourself, covering your mouth in disbelief. how is this possible? how did i get the disease – wasn’t this just a small crush?!
it wasn’t, unfortunately.
as gods and visions exist in this world, so does the rare disease called the hanahaki disease: the disease of unrequited love. it’s not a common case to get it, but it’s one of the most severe ones that can be easily gotten for someone who falls in love with someone so badly. it doesn’t happen unless the love that the victim has is that strong and if the victim is unsure if the person receiving such affection returns the feeling.
due to this, this led to many people trying not to think about being in an unrequited love in fear of getting the disease.
you feel like a fool for assuming that the disease won’t get to you.
after the discovery of your hanahaki disease, you decided to go for easy commissions from the guild to collect your thoughts.
you cringed to yourself when you felt the flowers inside of your body whenever you inhaled, the petals and leaves brushing your ribs and lungs. you couldn’t help but shudder when you thought of the possibility of getting those prickly flowers instead of cecilias.
more importantly, was your crush on the alchemist not as small as you thought?
you genuinely thought it was. though, you can’t blame yourself for it since you never had a long-lasting crush on anyone with intentions of confessing since you never had such affections for anyone else until now.
that’s why you can’t bring yourself to try and go to the cathedral to get rid of the cecilias that began to sprout in your body.
you’ve heard of the consequences if one were to choose the removal of the cecilias. you either die from the flowers, or get it treated with the price of losing your feelings forever. how cruel could this world be for such a tragic fate?
you can’t afford to lose your feelings that just made you the person that you are. wouldn’t this mean that you’ll never get to experience the happiness you feel from flowers and from albedo? how could you fall in love with someone else after this?
that’s why you have decided to confess to someone about your condition.
“...oh.” is the only thing that came out of kaeya’s mouth after you told him about the hanahaki disease.
you let out a sigh, leaning back to your seat as the both of you wait for your meals in good hunter. “yeah… i didn’t know who to talk about this with since i’m sure they’ll just be too worried about my health to not answer my question, so i want your honest opinion about my situation.” you explained.
“so, what should i do if i don’t want to lose the only thing that makes me feel human?” you asked.
the cavalry captain stays silent for a moment to think deeply, his face unreadable.
“i’m not one to fall in love so easily,” he spoke casually, placing an arm around his chair. “though if i were to be in your shoes, i’d confess to the person first to see if there’s hope for me to let my feelings stay.”
“..and if the person doesn’t reciprocate your feelings…?”
“then i’ll have the surgery,” he answered. “there’s nothing else left to do than to either die or lose, and i’d rather lose than to lose my own life from something like this.”
you nodded slowly in understanding, though his answer doesn’t satisfy you.
before you could let the words come out from your mouth, you suddenly felt a cecilia rising up your throat once more, causing you to immediately cover your mouth with wide eyes.
kaeya seems to be taken back from your reaction. “are you alright?”
you didn’t manage to reply, feeling yourself dropping to the concrete floor from your seat as you cough out more cecilias, not caring about the sounds of people around you gasping at such a gorey sight.
you suddenly felt a cold hand on your back as well as a large shadow looming in front of you, and you realized it was kaeya who was covering you from people who were watching, causing you to continue coughing out more bloodied flowers to the ground.
unnoticed by you, however, a certain man was watching the scene from afar with his mouth open agape.
as days flew by, your condition and worries started to grow.
the current gossip around mondstadt is how the hanahaki disease has now been reported after not hearing the case for more than twenty years. if it weren’t for the cavalry captain talking to every single person who had witnessed your embarrassing outbreak, your identity would’ve been leaked as the poor victim who’s in an unrequited love.
just like the first day of your disease, you continued to do easy commissions that didn't require you to do much physical combat, and you couldn’t find yourself to visit dragonspine for albedo. what if he sees the flowers and finds out that you like him? wouldn’t he just lie about how he liked you back out of pity?
of course not, you knew albedo too well to not do that. he’d probably try to find something that could help you tolerate the disease if he were to find out about it. but you’re honestly too scared to test it and confess, not when you could risk both your feelings and your friendship with the alchemist.
how could you live without being able to feel and without someone such as albedo to make you feel happy?
it didn’t help that kaeya’s answer started to haunt you when you lay down on your bed at night to slumber, your stomach sinking whenever you thought about it.
there’s nothing to lose when you’re about to lose everything, but it’s scary to take the leap.
when a week had long passed, you started puking out flowers more frequently than ever, tears started to form in your eyes from the pain of cecilias coming out from your mouth one by one until you could breathe properly again. it was starting to become more brutal and you hated it.
it led you to no longer be able to do commissions peacefully without puking out flowers. you couldn’t hold the petals in like back then, and you could not afford to let people see your crisis again, not when those pity and horrified gazes made your stomach feel sick.
you still haven’t visited dragonspine either.
you assumed albedo must’ve been relieved that you’re no longer visiting his laboratory to bother him, because now that you have nothing else to do much, you realized how a nuisance you must’ve been to the busy alchemist.
it hurts your heart to think about him.
“stop thinking about him,” you mumbled to yourself, placing your hands on your heart as you stared at the ceiling with an empty expression. “you’ll only continue to hurt yourself in the end.”
even when you tried your best to not think about him, you couldn’t escape even in your own dreams, a reality where you’re with albedo and not suffering from the disease that you despise. deep down, you dearly missed visiting the cold region and its quiet atmosphere. you missed the feeling of a welcoming cottage that’s in the middle of nowhere when you arrived at his laboratory, the sight of the light from the fire nearby that illuminates albedo so beautifully that made you smile, the random topics you could think of for you to talk about, you missed it all.
“you should tell him,” kaeya told you one day when he visited your home, the usual smirk plastered on his face was no longer there. “you’re getting sicker and sicker everyday, you have to do i–”
“i can’t.” you spoke, your voice cracked as you looked down at the ground in shame. “i… i can’t bring myself to tell him. he must’ve been happy i’m no longer bothering hi–”
“he recently came up to me yesterday,” he interrupted. “he was looking for you.”
your breath hitches, looking at the cavalry captain in surprise. “why? does he need me to look for some–”
“he said you haven’t seen him for weeks. he wanted to see you to check up on you.” you immediately noticed how the blue-haired man brought out a wrapped item from his pocket, gesturing you to take it. “you should open it. it’s a gift from him.”
your heart beats in anticipation, and you hesitantly took the gift away from his cold hands.
kaeya then faces sideways. “i’ll leave you alone to open it, but i suggest you to meet him and tell him the truth before it’s too late,”
“because for as long as i know that man, i had never seen him being so worried until that day.”
the gift is a brooch. a handmade one.
made with perhaps the finest ores of mondstadt, albedo managed to create a beautiful brooch that matches you a lot. you honestly felt teary-eyed when you first saw such a magnificent jewel displayed.
it was the final push that made you finally decide to talk to albedo.
it seemed as though celestia’s on your side, because when you went past good hunter on your way to dragonspine, you came across to albedo, who was chatting with timaeus by the alchemy stand nearby.
“y/n?” he called out, the words he was supposed to tell to the man across from the alchemist died in his throat when he saw you.
you try to smile. “can we talk privately?”
albedo nodded without hesitation. “of course, i apologize for the sudden excuse, timaeus.”
the brown-haired man smiled reassuringly, giving you both a thumbs-up. “it’s no problem for me, i’ll be waiting for you.”
the chief alchemist nods in gratitude before he gestured to you to take the lead.
hence how you find yourself sitting by good hunter once more across albedo, who’s been staring at you ever since the both of you sat down.
“...listen,” you spoke up softly. “i.. i’m sorry that i didn’t visit you for weeks. i’m going through something that i want to talk to you about.”
“it’s alright,” he replied with a gentle look on his face. “i’m just glad i get to see you again. you can tell me anything.”
you hesitated for a moment, staring down at your lap. there’s nothing to lose, you reminded yourself.
“...i love you, albedo.” you said, looking back at the blonde-haired man with a serious look on your face. “i realized it way too soon, and.. i-i understand if you don’t return the same feelings, i just want to continue this friendship if you allow it.”
you could hear your heartbeat beating so loudly, you thought albedo could hear it too. you just hope those stupid cecilias in your body won’t ruin the time right no–
“i’m sorry, y/n,” he said after moments of silence.
your breath hitches, feeling your heart dropped.
you knew it.
“i’m sorry but i– Y/N!” albedo immediately stood up from his seat as you felt light-headed, your vision fading to black as you found yourself slowly leaning to the side. ah, you must’ve been at your limit now.
i’m sorry albedo, you thought to yourself as your body hit the ground with a loud thud, feeling the flowers starting to creep up to your mouth once more. i’m sorry you had to see me like this.
i’m sorry i wasn’t brave enough to do this sooner and sacrifice my feelings.
you slowly regained consciousness after feeling like you’ve been in the sea for so long.
the first thing you saw was the light, then it was the white ceiling, to be followed by the light coming through the stained glass windows of what appears to be the cathedral.
how are you still alive–
“y/n?” you flinched when you heard the familiar voice of the man that you last saw before everything went black, causing you to look at the doorway and see the disbelief chief alchemist standing there.
“..albedo?” you called, wincing when your voice was hoarse. “what happened?”
“why didn’t you tell me you had the hanahaki disease?” he asked, walking towards you. “you should’ve told me sooner–”
“i didn’t want you to pity me like everyone else.” you said, your hands slowly rose to your throat when you realized you could no longer feel the flowers inside your chest. “did you–”
before you knew it, you felt his arms wrapped around your upper body, causing you to gasp in surprise.
“you shouldn’t have scared me like that.” he spoke in a tone you couldn’t recognize. “you had no idea how… how worried i was when you fell down before i could even finished what i said – i thought i was going to lose you when i didn’t had the chance to say i love you back.”
your eyes instantly widen from his words.
“...you…” you stumbled on your words, trying to process what he had just said. “you love me back?”
he nods without a question. “of course i do.. i didn’t realize it sooner until i found myself missing your presence when you didn’t come by for a week.”
you shut your eyes closed. “i thought i was bothering you…”
“never,” he said as sincere as he can. “you could never bother me. not when i always looked forward to your visits. i even learned many recipes just so i can cook any food you want.”
your heartbeats grew loud as you feel your cheeks warming, and you slowly wrap your arms around him as well with a relieved sigh. “...i’m sorry i scared you like that.”
you feel him hugging you tighter, but not enough to make you feel like you’re suffocating. “just don’t do that again.. i don’t want to lose you.”
and at that moment, you felt like you can finally breathe now.

ಌ wc: 4.6k
ಌ notes: this was requested by anon! sorry it took so long, i hope you enjoy<3 (edit: this is a repost, it flopped horrendously because i posted it at the wrong time lol)
You hadn’t seen each other properly in weeks. Was that an over exaggeration? Not really. Your alone time was always interrupted, he’d always have to run off to do his duties as cavalry captain or having to look after Klee in Albedo or Jean’s place. This, about 99% of the time, would end up with him being in solitary confinement with her. Now, Kaeya was a good babysitter, but putting Klee and himself together alone was a bad mix. He’d keep her safe and looked after her properly, but he’d turn away for one second and she’d be planning her next scheme. She is a true menace, especially after using a bomb on the cooker beside Good Hunter or blowing up the fish in the lake and causing a disturbance. Kaeya was always the one in her care when doing this, because he’d just laugh at whatever she did and didn’t actually reprimand her for it. How Jean and Albedo continued to let him look after her was a mystery, as she only did stuff like this in Kaeya’s presence. He had apologised to you by letter time and time again, saying he’d make it up to you.
In the days you couldn’t see him, you took up more commissions to pass the time. The commissions spread from Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma, leaving the Mondstadt ones for last. Albedo had put out a commission for someone to gather ingredients for him, so you gladly took it. You were thinking of random stuff in the inn you stayed at in Inazuma after completing everything you took on for there, and you got the bright idea of what to ask for from Albedo in return for doing his commission, a ‘favour’ of sorts. Just thinking about it had you excited, something to look forward to. You missed Kaeya an unhealthy amount.
So here you were, starfished on your bed whilst holding a vial of liquid above you. The warm breeze from outside, gliding and tickling over your skin. With noise from the people of Mondstadt outside and the birds chirping songs, you sighed to yourself. The ‘favour’ you had asked Albedo for in return for completing a commission of his… You thought of nothing but Kaeya when describing what you wanted in detail. You watched as the light from outside your window hit the liquid through the crystalfly-like vial, it twinkling at you. In all honesty, you didn’t think you’d miss someone’s presence as much as this, yet here you were and here was the ‘favour’. Your arm falls to the side, hitting the soft mattress under you. You wish you could enjoy today with Kaeya, since it was so nice. Today was the only day you didn’t think to take up commissions. You looked over to the window, watching as the sky was being washed over with an orange hue.
A week before…
Finally returning to Mondstadt, you decided to go and pay Albedo a visit. You needed more information on his commission you took up, it was far too vague. He wanted you to collect ingredients for him, but there was never a list attached to the commission sheet, so you expected it to be lengthy. Making your way to the alchemy laboratory, you bump into Sucrose on the way.
“Sucrose! Are you on your way back to the lab?”
“Yes, are you on your way to see Albedo? He said he was waiting for you.” She fixes her glasses, looking toward the laboratory.
“I’m glad he’s there, I was on my way to ask about that commission of his. Shall we?” Smiling at each other, you make your way to the lab. You ask her about what she had been working on recently, and she says she’s been running around like crazy because Albedo is close to a breakthrough. She’s quick to add that this was the purpose of the commission, but it was genuinely just collecting ingredients for him.
The walk to the laboratory felt shorter, especially with Sucrose for company. You open the door for Sucrose, following closely behind her as she enters in a rush towards the table Albedo is scribbling away at. Timaeus was there too, handling papers that Albedo hands to him. When the door shuts, Albedo looks up to see Sucrose.
“He’s here, you can give him the list now.” She says shyly, before walking in front of Timaeus to start sorting the papers. Darting his eyes towards you, Albedo jumps out of his seat. He flips through the bundle of papers he hadn’t handed away, finally picking up a certain piece and strides on over to you.
“Great, you’re here. This is what I need you to get for me. I specified what should and shouldn’t be done with certain things, so please be mindful.”
“Thanks… For the reward, can we discuss something different? I’m not really in the need for mora, and this is more of a favour I want to ask of you.” He nods, quickly running back to his desk to grab some paper and a pen. You knew Albedo wouldn’t think twice about what you were requesting, especially with his mind solely focusing on his breakthrough.
“What are you thinking of? Is it something I can make?” You nod, before looking up to where Timaeus and Sucrose were busy chatting away whilst sorting through more things for Albedo.
“It is, but I want to keep the purpose of it a secret from the others in your lab. It’s a bit personal, so…” He nods, looking at you to continue. “I was wondering if you could make me a type of lubricant. It has to be safe for use on and inside of the human body, something water-based.” He doesn’t question you, scribbling down onto the paper he brought over. You continue, “If there’s a way, could you have it so it’s not terribly sticky and that it doesn’t dry out? Something with a cooling effect as well would be great.” He hums to acknowledge the rest of the details, underlining his work and placing his pen down. He reads over what he wrote down, before handing it to you.
“You’re going to have a lot of ingredients to get then, but it is something I can make. I won’t speak of this to Timaeus and Sucrose.” You look over both sheets of paper, nodding and looking back to Albedo.
“Thank you, I won’t be long in gathering everything. I’ll try and have everything brought by tomorrow morning.” You smile, and he nods again. He made his way back to his desk, and you wave and say goodbye to them all. Walking out, you plan where you were going to go first.
Most of the ingredients were in Liyue, whilst the others were located in Dragonspine and Mondstadt. They weren’t difficult to find, and they weren’t things you didn’t know of. Out of all the commissions you had taken up, this was the easiest. The ingredients in Liyue didn’t take long, despite expecting it to. You bought a lot of the ingredients from Bubu Pharmacy, and then went and looked for the rest yourself. The place that did take the longest was Dragonspine, and you had to run back to Albedo’s camp a few times just to escape some monsters or to warm yourself back up. You hoped you wouldn’t have to visit there again for a while. When you got round to Mondstadt, you took your time after the nightmare in Dragonspine. It did feel great to just go out looking for things, but you were yet again thinking of how you’d have liked to had done this with Kaeya. Though, you probably wouldn’t get it done as quickly and you both would have messed around a lot... It did take you an entire day by yourself after all. You placed everything separately, the stuff Albedo asked for in one bag and the stuff you needed for your request in another. Happy with everything, you made your way back to your home. You noticed a letter shoved under the door when you walked in, immediately recognising the writing. Smiling, you dropped the bags near your dresser and walked to your bed to sit down. Yet another apology letter from Kaeya, explaining yet another mess that happened on his duties. He promised to make it up to you, as he always did. Every letter recently were just apologies, but you didn’t mind. He was busy, and you knew how much he did actually enjoy looking after Klee or doing his duty as cavalry captain. You sighed, putting it into the box underneath your bed. You kept every letter he wrote, reading some of them over and over in hopes you’d see him the next day. It had been a couple of weeks already.
You got up early the next day, grabbing the bags and making your way over to the laboratory. Albedo was looking at a board on the wall, closed hand on his chin whilst looking like he was deep in thought. You knock on the door.
“Albedo, I’m back with the items you requested.” His head snaps towards your voice, seeing you peeking behind the door. He makes his way over to you, hand reaching out to take the bags from you. He peeks inside both, nodding and humming to himself.
“Thank you. Everything looks in order. Your request will take me overnight, so you can pick it up in the afternoon tomorrow.” You nod, looking around the room to see it was just him.
“Just you today?”
“Ah, yes. We have been working nonstop lately, so I told those two to come in later today. Well, also because I knew you’d come in and they’d ask why there was much more than what I needed.” You thank him, and he smiles slightly before shuffling to place everything in its respectful place. “Your request has something to do with Kaeya, doesn’t it?” You nearly choked. It wasn’t exactly a secret that you and Kaeya had a thing, but it was more surprising that Albedo just came out with that after not questioning your request before.
“Haha… what makes you say that?” Albedo just hums, setting the bag with your stuff in it beside some already set up apparatus.
“I remembered after our chat that he was complaining of, in his words, a ‘sore ass’, a few weeks back. He asked me to make him something to soothe it.” You cursed to yourself. So, the soothing cream he told you about came from Albedo? That’s embarrassing…
“I see… Well, I should get going, you’re busy. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You wave to him, and he bids you goodbye. You were quick to run out of the laboratory, and when you got outside you pinched the bridge of your nose.
The reasoning behind the request was to make it better for Kaeya since every other lubricant has dried out quickly when you and Kaeya had fun. They would need re-application, and after a while it became annoying. Kaeya told you not to stop and not re-apply any one time, since he was enjoying it too much to care about it drying out. When you stopped listening to his protests of ignoring it, it was already too late, and he had what he described to you as “carpet burn but inside of his ass.” You laughed at his wording, but now you knew that he’d gone and asked Albedo for something, and then you coming and asking for such a thing just let Albedo know of your business. Whatever. It’s not like Albedo would blab about it. You decided to stroll around Mondstadt, bumping into a few familiar faces and chatting away with them. You wanted this day to be over, to finally have those favours of yours.
When it finally came to picking your request up, Albedo was alone yet again. You thanked the archons for being on your side, but also hoping that Albedo wouldn’t have an attempt to tease you again.
“You’re here sharp. This is for you, it’s exactly how you wanted it as well.” He handed you several pretty vials, all of which looked like he had directly put the liquid into the anemo crystalflies. Heart going wild about finally having something specifically for you and Kaeya, something that won’t annoy you both or hurt him from chaffing, was great.
“It has a slight cooling effect, like you wanted. It isn’t noticeable at first, but it’s to help with discomfort afterwards. Alongside that, it’s water-based with a light and slippery consistency, something you won’t be needing to constantly re-apply. I hope it’s up to your standards, but please make sure he doesn’t come back and tells me how it was. I don’t want to know what you and Kaeya get up to.” You gawked at him. Where did this type of Albedo come from? You snorted.
“Got it, thanks for making it. I apologise if the request made you uncomfortable.” He folds his arms, shaking his head at you.
“It didn’t make me uncomfortable; I’m just hoping you keep it a secret from Kaeya that I made this.” You nodded in agreement, and he continued. “He had no thought for his surroundings the last time, any louder and the whole of Mond would have heard him.” You sigh, your hand rubbing the back of your neck. Albedo doesn’t show much emotion, considering his circumstances. I think he was more concerned for how people would look at them both as a whole, especially if he was doing it on purpose to try and embarrass Albedo.
“He spoke about it that loudly?” Albedo nods, before putting his hands on his hips.
“You can come back and request for more, of course. Thank you again for gathering everything so quickly.” You thank him back as well, and you take your leave.
Back to the present…
A sharp knock at the door snapped you out of your thoughts. You placed the favour back into your bedside table. Getting up and answering it, you see one of the knights that normally guards outside of Jean’s office at the Knights of Favonius building. He hands you a letter, explaining it was from the cavalry captain. You were quick to open it, reading every word carefully. He was personally requesting help from yourself. It detailed that Jean was called away on urgent business, and he had been left to do all of the recent paperwork. You didn’t let it show, but you were internally scoffing. Kaeya was more than capable of doing all the work by himself, you knew this all too well. This was his excuse to see you, even if it meant doing it in a roundabout way. You fold the letter neatly in half, looking back to the waiting knight at your door.
“Please tell the cavalry captain that I will be over shortly.” The knight saluted and left. You closed the door, making your way to your bed to grab the box underneath. Placing the letter inside, you sat down for a brief second. This could be your chance to use the favour, looking towards the bedside table, where you had kept the stash of vials in. Grinning to yourself, you decided to pack some ‘essentials’ into your adventurers pouch. You weren’t letting this opportunity go. Looking around your room, you nod to yourself. Opening and shutting the front door, locking it with a click, and almost skipping away towards the Knights of Favonius.
Upon your arrival, the same knight that delivered the letter waved you over. Greeting each other once again, he knocked softly on the door before opening it for you to Jean’s office. There he sat at the main desk, pen scratching away at the paperwork with his face resting against one of his closed fists. You looked around, and you had to hold in a laugh. There was hardly any left to ‘help’ with, looking over to the table to the right of you, seeing that there were a few papers laying atop it. With the door closing behind you, Kaeya looked up and got out his seat to walk towards you.
“Ah! You’re here. Good. I’ve already set up the paperwork I want you to work on, come over here.” His hand ghosting your lower back, walking you both to the table you were just looking at. You sit yourself down, noticing everything was neatly placed for you. A new fountain pen with an unopened ink pot sitting beside it. His hand squeezes your shoulder, and he makes his way back to the main desk. He sits down, picking his pen up to scribble away at the paperwork again, as if he were in a rush to finish.
The paperwork was neatly sorted into different small piles, little paper-notes littered on top to signify what he wanted you to do, what to accept and what to decline, with little hearts here and there. Smiling, you open the new ink pot with a pop, dipping the fountain pen in and getting to work with what he’d given you. The silence was enjoyable, only the sounds heard coming from both your pen and Kaeya’s on the papers. From what you were doing, nothing was difficult. You were thankful that you at least got time to spend with him finally. He had detailed everything in the notes to near perfection, like he had already done all the paperwork he had set in front of you. You checked over everything, and once you were satisfied, you wiped the fountain pen clean and popped the lid back onto the ink pot. Gathering all the materials, you made your way over to Kaeya.
Standing in front of the main desk, Kaeya looked up at you as you handed him the papers. He stands up, taking them from you and the papers he was working on to file them away. When he comes back, he stands behind the desk and just looks at you, not saying a thing. Confused, you go to open your mouth to ask him what was wrong. But before you can, he grabs the front of your shirt and pulls you in for a kiss. You had to steady yourself, hands slapping onto the desk. It was sweet to begin with, little nips to your bottom lip and soft sighs of satisfaction coming from Kaeya. You cupped his face with one hand, thumb swiping across his cheek. You had missed this; it had been far too long without him. Pulling away first, you rest your forehead against his and you smile, looking at him.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you as well.”
Kaeya pulled away from you fully, walking around the desk this time to pull you into another kiss. His arms wrapping around your neck, pulling you in deeper. You knew where this was going, his tongue pushing it’s way into your mouth. Stumbling, you were both trying to find a surface to lean against, most preferably a wall. Your lips moved quickly and messily against his, clearly not getting enough of each other. Eventually, Kaeya was all but slammed against the door. Hands gripping his hips and smirking into the kiss as you grind against him, happy that more than just he himself had missed you. He pulled back again, groaning at the friction you were giving him. Giving him a quick peck, you turned him around, hands flying around his hips to unbuckle his belt, eager to get his pants off of him. You keep a hold of his belt, hanging it from your own. Pulling his pants down to his ankles, your hands landed on his ass. You pulled one side apart, noticing that his hole was slick already.
“Did you prepare yourself?” You push your thumb in, relishing in the mmm that comes from him. He’s quick to nod and say yes, that he did it knowing he’d get time to see you today. You hummed back in appreciation, twisting your free hand to grab one of the vials of lubricant from your pouch. Removing your thumb from his hole, you popped the vial open and covered your fingers in it. Knowing you didn’t have to go slow, you plunged two fingers in and worked them in and out of Kaeya. Whines coming from him, the stretch burning yet feeling delicious. He juts his hips towards you, bending himself over and pushing himself further onto your fingers. Delightful moans came from the man, and you were more than happy to hear them until a soft knock and the twisting of the door handle made Kaeya go quiet, hole squeezing around your fingers.
“Sir Kaeya? Is everything alright?” Clearly having forgotten about the knight that guards directly outside the door, Kaeya panicked. You wickedly kept going with your fingers, enjoying his reactions a little too much. He twists his head to glare at you, eyebrows furrowing at you curling your fingers, pressing against his prostate. Trying to keep himself together, he replied to not worry the knight.
“Ye- Ngh. Yes. Everything is fine.” He had applied cryo to the door, sealing the door shut. Completely frozen. You didn’t expect that reaction, anyway, pulling your fingers from him. His hand still laying on the door, he looked at you again from behind his shoulder. You pulled him away from the door, and he kicked his pants off. Taking him over to the main desk again, you bend him over it. He looks over his shoulder for the third time, this time adorning a smirk on his features. Taking his forearms and binding them with his belt behind his back, you smirk back at him. Leaving him to stay like that whilst you unbuckled your own belt, taking your pants off, and taking yet another vial from your pouch to slick your cock with. You line yourself up, rubbing your cock head over his rim and at this point you’re desperate. Looking at his face again, he nods towards you.
“I’ve missed you, and you’re not gonna fuck me already?” You felt your eye twitch at that comment, so you sink yourself into him, hissing as you bottom out. Taking a minute, in fear you might just cum immediately. “Hurry up, want you.” Kaeya whines. One hand on his hip and the other gripping his bound forearms, you pull out until only the head of your cock remains, before ramming yourself all the way back in. A choked cry comes from Kaeya, as you repeat the same motion time and time again. He’s babbling a plethora of ‘love you’s and some ‘so good’s here and there, so you wrap your hand around the remaining bit of belt and yank on it, pulling him back in time with your thrusts. A vice grip around your cock, with choked sobs coming from Kaeya, you weren’t even sure you’d last long. Especially considering how long it had been since you last did this. Hitting his prostate over and over, Kaeya was no longer forming coherent words to you and nothing but his pretty voice was singing in your ears.
Pulling him off of the desk slightly, the hand that was on his hip circles round to mess with his neglected dick. Plowing into him, abusing his hole in time with each stroke of his cock, he’s a moaning mess. You could definitely tell the difference with the ‘favour’, thanking Albedo silently in your head. Kaeya’s walls were squeezing you a lot more than normal, his cock leaking like no tomorrow. Tugging on the belt again as you slammed into him, his ass jiggling with each slam of your hips.
“Are you close? You keep – ah – squeezing me so tightly.” Your voice keens, and he let’s out a choked sob again. You pull all the way out, cock head remaining again, and he squeezes around you. Groaning, you plunge back in.
“Fuck… fuck, fuck, fuck–” Kaeya chants out, as you pick up the pace again. Relishing in the way Kaeya attempts to buck back into you, you bottom out and cum inside of him. Pumping his cock and slamming into him repeatedly, with a shiver, Kaeya releases all over your hand. This doesn’t stop you though, you wanted to make up for the time you lost. You slip your cock from him, releasing the belt around his forearms, flipping him over and pushing him further up the desk. He looks at you, shocked being an understatement. You take no time to sink back into him, hissing at the feeling. Legs wrapping around you, he keeps you there for a second. He pulls you in for a kiss, just as sweet as it was before, and you took his eyepatch off. Pulling away, you look at him, forehead against his again. With his hands cupping your face, looking back at you, you begin to move. Rolling your hips painfully slow, savouring the way his face contorts back into pleasure. You moved to pull one of his thighs further up his body, sinking into him further. Your cum from earlier squirting out the sides, bubbling and dripping down his ass. Kaeya started pleading you, his moans driving you insane as you began to drill in and out of him. You’ve never felt such ecstasy before, Kaeya’s back was arching slightly. You watched as his mouth hangs open, moaning your name and looking at you with glassy eyes. All you could think about was how pretty he looked, so you kiss him. It’s messy, your tongues dancing and the noises coming from your mouths and from where you’re joined fills the room. If the knight had knocked again to see if he was alright, you both wouldn’t have heard it. His gorgeous cock is making a mess, precum smeared over his slightly exposed stomach as it bobs up and down in time with your movements. Walls fluttering around you again, you could tell he was close, angling him in a way that lets you hit his prostate more frequently.
With a whine, he cums again, and the sight is all it took for you to be cumming in him for the second time. This still wasn’t enough for you, so you pull out and pull your pants back up. Leaving him bare for a second, you grab his pants, helping him into them. You hold the belt and eyepatch in one hand, before moving towards the window to open it. You extend a hand, Kaeya shivering as cum dribbled out of him as he wobbled towards you.
“We should go back to my place and have a few more rounds… I need to have my fill of you before you disappear on me again for your duties.” He chuckles, both of you not really caring about how you look as you both climb out the window, bolting in the direction to where your home is.
What you both didn’t know was that was a lucky escape. The ice that sealed the door was melting at an alarming rate, before an angry Jean and a bored looking Diluc enter the office. Jean looks around, the knight guarding the door in hysterics as he tried to calm her down. She made her way to the filing cabinet to check the paperwork, happy enough that it was done but still angry that Kaeya was nowhere to be seen. Diluc moved towards the desk, spying something. A grimace washed over his face, before signalling to Jean to let it go.
“Why should I let it go? He should be here!”
“Trust me on this one, you really don’t want to know why he’s not here.”

Tumblr media
For the first time, Kaeya manages to be by your side for your last moments. Blood thickens, overflows in his hand as he cradles your head and your breaths become shallower. The raindrops from the downpour carry the crimson away, but your skin becomes increasingly pale as they do.
With whatever strength you have left, you grip his hand that’s clasped around his vision. You plead with him not to do what he was about to do.
Tears begin to well upon your eyes when he pries your hand away. When he removes his hand from his vision to cup your jaw, you see imprints of the metal in his hands. Kaeya presses a feather-light kiss to your eyes, then your cheek, then finally your lips; and you struggle to reciprocate.
Against your lips, with steel in his voice, he swears, “Time again and time to pass, I'll come back for you. Always.”
-
Kaeya’s eyes jerk open. He’s sitting in his office, the dazzling sunlight blazing in through its glass windows. The documents are sprawled out just as he remembers them – your application form in front of him, at the very top of the pile.
It should be about time for you to walk into his office. He takes a deep breath and runs through his plan in his mind again.
The door clicks open and Kaeya resumes back into his ever-popular, amicable persona.
He watches as you arrive to stand before his desk and you bow. “Good morning, Sir Kaeya. I am [name], the newly appointed vice-cavalry captain. I will do my best under your service.”
“Pleased to meet you, [name].”
In his heart, he’s relieved it’s the same familiar touch when you shake his hand. He only pulls away when you do.
He takes a seat and props himself up with both his elbows, his fingers intertwining with each other.
“[name], I’m stationing you at Dragonspine with Albedo.”
Confusion crosses your face and you stay silent for a while.
“Sir, please excuse me if this is rude but… Wouldn’t it be more appropriate if I follow you instead? It is my responsibility as the vice-cavalry captain to provide close assistance in your duties.”
Kaeya chuckles, “The Grandmaster has already taken everyone in the Cavalry unit for an expedition. Leave for all but those around Dragonspine, my duties are of no extraordinary note and require no assistance. Besides, it’d be beneficial for you to become a little more familiar with Dragonspine. Albedo’s laboratory has been raided recently too, so I believe he’d appreciate a little extra security .”
“But-”
He stands up and leans into you, his index finger hovering above your lips. “Hush, I’ll train you when the time comes. I’ll come by often to check on your work and progress. Let's head to Dragonspine.”
You open your mouth to protest, but Kaeya walks out of the room without looking back. On the way to Albedo’s lab, Kaeya makes light conversation, asking you about trivial things such as your family. He asks about things he already knew from the previous time loops, careful not to let anything slip.
When you arrive at Albedo’s lab, Kaeya gives Albedo the same explanation as he did to you. He searches Albedo’s face for any sign of knowing. Albedo keeps his eyes on his vials, sparing both of you only a glance. Good, he hasn’t caught wind of Kaeya’s plans yet.
Once all arrangements have been made known and settled, Kaeya takes his leave. When he does, the sensation in one of his hands dulls. He faintly sees the pure white of the snow on the ground through his hand. In the next moment, he can’t and the feeling in his hand returns.
-
Kaeya visits you at least once every week. The looks that you cast Albedo’s way don’t escape him – saccharine honey that drips from your iris, brimming at the edge of your eyes. Its sweetness is made even more palpable as you gaze at Albedo while he’s focused on his experiments…
… The same gaze you’ve given him countless times in the past, and all he felt back then was an overflowing waterfall of love. Seeing that it’s for someone else, makes his stomach churn as if he had too much. Sickeningly sweet.
“Do you fancy the chief alchemist?”
You get frantic and wave your hands in denial. Kaeya forces out a laugh. “I see that your type is calm, collected and incredibly talented.”
You continue trying to refute Kaeya’s claim. He leans into your face, his breath fanning your cheek. With a lowered voice, he asks, “What about me?”
Kaeya searches your eyes. There’s panic and your mind is fumbling for what should be the correct answer.
He retreats backwards. “Hmm, since you can’t give me an answer, how about you fulfil a request for me?”
“I’m sorry, Sir Kaeya. Please, let me know. I’ll do anything.”
Anything, huh?
“Stop calling me ‘Sir’. Just ‘Kaeya’ will do.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. Anything, isn’t it, sweetheart?”
After all, he can’t accept you calling him that when you call Albedo by his name.
-
As time passes, Kaeya visits you less. His hands flicker like a flame on a candle more often than he likes, the translucent quality creeping up his arm.
Kaeya doesn’t realise that his vision has been too either. He only does when Albedo points it out after Albedo asks you to help him to collect some starsilver (in which you oblige with great enthusiasm).
“Kaeya, your vision’s flickering again.”
He unfastens his vision from his belt and inspects it. The glow in his vision stops flickering when he brings it close to his eye. The turquoise blue looks faintly duller to him.
Kaeya just laughs, dismissing it with an excuse he pulls out of thin air.
The silence almost settles like dust until Albedo says, “You’ve done something with time, right?”
He says it as if he’s testing his hypothesis, yet Kaeya hears it having a thin layer of disbelief.
Albedo continues, “I’m not one to trust dreams, but I’ve been having dreams… that make sense. I’ve been going along with my day and it's as if things are supposed to be another way.”
Kaeya keeps his eyes on Albedo’s back, staying silent until Albedo tears his eyes away from his concoctions.
All Kaeya gives Albedo is a confident smile. Silence gets its opportunity to settle and rest atop their shoulders with weight. Albedo sighs in defeat and tells Kaeya to let him know if he ever needs anything.
“Take care of [name] for me, will you?”
When he stands up to leave, you return to Albedo’s lab. Kaeya gives you an amicable hello but he doesn’t wait for your response.
Confident that you’ve taken your eyes off his retreating back, he slows his pace. Your laughter is muffled, but the elation that he hears is crisp. It rings and echoes, even though there’s a valley right beside which should have swallowed the sound up.
-
You’re not sure how long Kaeya has resigned from the Knights of Favonius. Some guilt weighs down on your heart. You’ve been too preoccupied with the object of your affections to notice that your superior has resigned.
Even though he doesn’t know the reason, the alchemist reassures you not to blame yourself.
“Perhaps you should visit him?” Albedo suggests.
“Is there anything you need me to do?”
Albedo shakes his head and tells you to run along to Kaeya’s place.
There’s no response when you knock on Kaeya’s door. You turn the doorknob to find it unlocked, muttering an ‘excuse me’ when you enter.
He lies sprawled out on his bed, his limbs peeking out from underneath his blanket. Sunlight filters through the window, and you think that it seems to filter through his skin too. You realise you’re not being delusional when you approach him.
“Kaeya! Is there anything I can do for you?”
You don’t wait for him to respond and you’re about to leave, but he grabs your hand. His hand is almost crystal clear and a wave of worry overcomes you. Without letting go of your hand, Kaeya shakes his hand and says, “I’ll be happy as long as I can see you.”
There’s a bittersweet undertone that you don’t miss and you want to ask him to explain the situation to you. But your thoughts are all in a jumble and nothing comes out of your mouth.
He gestures for you to lean down to him and you do. His trembling lips press against yours. You close your eyes and kiss him back. In that fleeting moment, you forgot about the alchemist that resided in your heart. At that moment, Kaeya saunters into your heart and makes himself comfortable. It's as if he’s been there before.
You feel Kaeya trying to sit up and you help him up without pulling away. His hand slides up your chin, settling his hand behind your ear. One of your hands lies atop of his chest and the other has its fingers tangled in his navy blue hair.
Memories you don’t remember flood into your mind.
Under the stars, he said he would rip out all the stars in the sky for you. At dusk, he said one day he’ll steal a horse from the stables and he’ll ride into the horizon with you. In the comfort of your bed, he promises he’ll tell you his secret and about the weight of a forgotten world he’s carrying.
When you stop feeling his lips on yours, you open your eyes and fall forward onto the bed. He’s gone. There’s no sign of him when you do a quick sweep of the room. You hurl all the doors in his house open. The doors tremble and shiver when they hit against the wall, but with decreasing power, as you make your way towards the last room. What or who you’re looking for and why you’re slamming doors open start to trickle like water out of a palm.
You try to grasp at them, but it is all in vain. Soon enough, you don’t know why you’re standing by a vacant bed with a lonely, dead vision lying on it.
You don’t know that you saw the last of Kaeya. Only the time that swept him away with its waves knows that he loved you. But time only moves forward, it doesn’t stop for anyone. All you can comprehend by standing alone in the empty room is that something wrenches your heart and it feels more empty than you could ever understand why.
Tumblr media
Havoc runs underneath your feet in the form of rumbling as you climb up the hill towards the Golden House. The unconscious bodies of the Millelith line haphazardly outside and they do nothing to quell your worry. Screams loaded with fear cut through the thick air, causing you to quicken your pace.
You burst through the wide-open door into the brilliant gold room. Purple sparks fly against the twinkling gold rays of Mora. Childe hovers in the eye of the storm. Aether’s body lies still at the edge of the chaos, with Keqing, Ganyu and the meagre numbers that remained of the Millelith flanking Childe from all sides. Yet, with every attempt to approach him, he would blink away to the other end of the room.
When you call out Childe’s name, he doesn’t even spare a glance your way. You’re clueless on what warranted this from him – this was nothing like him at all. You take a few steps towards him, getting a closer look at him.
Cuts on the armour blanket his body, blood brimming on its edges and spilling over. A stubborn arrow lodges in one of his forearms, crimson red trickling out. He swings his arm and sends a soldier flying as if the arrow only inflicted an ant bite. Blood outlines his jaw and drips down his chin. Catch a glimpse of his eyes from the sides of the mask when he turns his head away, you see is the bottom of the ocean where light has no reach.
Keqing cautions you to stand back, but you pay her no heed, taking a few more steps closer to him. You call his name again. He releases another ray of purple electricity towards Ganyu and she dodges it by a hair.
There’s a voice in your head that warns you that you'll anger him by using his real name in front of others; but the dire circumstances before you have pushed you to the edge of your composure.
“Ajax!”
Childe’s raised hand halts in midair and he turns his gaze to your direction. A crimson red instead of purple glow in the orb embedded in the mask. It flickers between the two colours.
Your name comes out from his mouth muffled and broken up like an unstable connection. The hand that hovers in midair starts to quiver, moving towards the mask. The flickering of the eye of the mask intensifies. The red abruptly takes its place again, his hand dropping to his side as if he’s done a reset of himself.
You realise there’s something about Childe’s Foul Legacy form that even he himself has failed to realise. Something grave that has led to the consequences in play at this moment.
Your mind starts racing. The puddles of crimson on the ground below Childe tell you they’ve been battling for quite a while. Concern starts seeping and piling into your heart – you don’t know how long more Childe's body can last.
From the corner of your eye, Keqing charges up her sword that glows a vibrant purple. You step in her path. She pulls back and her amethyst eyes widen at something behind you. You dodge Childe’s attack, his clawed hand scraping your arm.
He gets persistent in his attacks and you dodge all of them by a hair. You realise that who – or what’s – controlling Childe has deemed you a threat to be eliminated.
From the corner of your eyes, you see the others striking him. Bringing their sword down on him, throwing spears and firing arrows. You plead for Keqing and her troops to stand back, tone teetering on the edge of a demand.
You almost fail to dodge yet another attack. You notice Childe’s hand wobbling as it nears his face again. The red flickers to purple and back again. A puzzle piece clicks in your head.
When Keqing runs towards him for an attack, you parry her sword.
“Please! Stop! I know how to end this, so please help me!”
You turn your head in Ganyu’s direction, entreating her, “Ganyu, please, shoot his mask!”
She shoots a glance at Keqing beside you, hesitant to follow your request. It’s only seconds but to you, it was precious time ticking away before Ganyu aims her bow at him at Keqing’s nod.
You don’t ask for Keqing to help, but she dashes up behind. She supports you as you fend off Childe’s attacks from others and yourselves.
To keep his attention on you, you yell his name and insult his attire (which in reality, you think is neat but the ends justify the means, so you lie). His attacks become less thought through and he starts to look like he’s only flailing about. Cracks start to spread around the mask, about to shatter. Everything goes on until he realises that Ganyu has become the biggest threat.
Before any of you could stop him, he discharges a ray of electricity towards Ganyu. She narrowly dodges it but breaks her arm in the process. You blink and he’s already towering over her with a raised hand that grips a violet spear wrapped in sparks.
Ganyu scrambles up and dodges the waves of his spear. You urge her to run over to you. Childe’s attention turns in your direction. He thrusts the spear towards you.
You leap towards him, reaching out for the mask with cracks that run across it. Ganyu passes you and the spear impales your torso. The pain paralyses you and you almost black out, but you remind yourself of your conviction. Mustering a last burst of remaining strength, you claw against the mask. Your fingertip brushes the tip of his mask and it breaks in half.
The sight of a familiar ocean blue eases the immense anxiety in your chest. At the sight of his widening eyes, you forget the pain for a brief moment and cup his face in one palm, leaning in towards him. The next moment, the spear fades and you drop to the ground. Childe catches you but his hold on you is weak. His knees buckle and he kneels on the ground with you lying in his arms.
His eyes do a sweep of the surroundings. The Millelith help their injured comrades out of the Golden House. Keqing’s authoritative voice thunders through the gilded chamber, desperately ordering her troops to request help for you. When he looks at the gaping wound on your torso, his eyes widen.
“[name]... [name]... I’m sorry.”
He chokes on his apology and tears brim in his eyes. A few teardrops trickle down his cheek and drip on your closed eyes. Your eyelids twitch and it opens, half-lidded.
With a shaking hand, you outstretch your hand to cup his cheek again. You tug at the little amount of skin that you’ve pinched. It’s always been the silent way both of you ask for a kiss.
“Ajax, I’m sorry too.”
Childe shakes his head before his lips only brush against yours. He yanks his jacket off and applies pressure to your wound. The blood soaks his jacket through within a matter of moments.
You sputter out a laugh, quipping, “I’m glad I chose to love a hot man.”
“Stop joking, [name].”
Everyone sees the panic in his eyes. The notoriously fearless harbinger has quivering lips and a face that screams about the cruel deed he’s done to you. He remains motionless while staring at your face. The sight of this extraordinary scene unsettles everyone before it, including the ever-rational Keqing, who’s trying to keep her composure. Childe hears her race to the entrance, questioning with impatience as to when medical help would be arriving.
In a hushed tone, you ask with the same half-lidded eyes, “Ajax… Are you there? I can’t see you.”
Childe chokes on his own breath, opting to hum as a response while he tries to hold back a barrage of tears. His hand that cradles your head tightens and he kisses the crown of your head.
“I’m… here.”
He pecks your lips, repeating his previous words when he speaks against your lips. Your eyes flutter shut, and it’s not long when he feels your body still.
Every part of Childe’s body aches, but nothing more so than the heart pounding in his chest. He leans down and brushes his lips against yours. His thumb rubs circles on your scalp as if in a forest searching for signs of life. He breaks away but not long later, he presses another kiss, his hand pushing your head towards him.
You will wake up. Just like in those fairytales where true love’s kiss brings characters doomed to slumber back to the waking world like a magic spell. He wants to believe such magic exists. He has to. He has to… If not… If not..
Doubt is the downfall of any endeavour of chance. That day, he learns that truth the hard way. (And he even doubts that he was your true love).

Hypothesized plausible pet names:
Beautiful
Oxytocin
Honey

Cutie
Princess
Albedo is a man on a mission today. If you had known him for a while now and had been used to his antics, you can see the twinkle in his beautiful teal eyes carry a different degree of flame within it. Intensified, more so when his gaze landed on where you laid on the couch inside his stuffy laboratory. Your brows were furrowed and eyes too focused on the 48-paged research on Mondstadtian spirituality to notice his gaze and endearing smile aimed at you.
His other half for four months now clad in a white lab coat yet still looking as elegant as a cecilia softly caressed by Barbatos' winds. It had been quite a while but you know by heart of how he copes with the ways of normalcy and relationships. Your patience for him was one of the things Albedo loved about you. And now he thinks that it should be him that carries, that moves the relationship forward.
Your glistened orbs stared at his when you finally noticed his gaze on you, offering your own smile that he replies to. Yes, today he will finally reach a conclusion to his latest research:
Finding the best term of endearment for his lover.
1. Beautiful
"Hello there, beautiful." Albedo was the embodiment of not only a generous amount of wisdom but also of elegant composure. Yet the test tube of pink liquid slightly shakes from the way his hand slacks before it was pressured upon his tight grip. There will always be a person that seems to defy the general order of this world, besides your beautiful self, of course. In a good way. "Here's the executive summary and copy of your research that Lisa looked over."
The rustle of thick paper overpowered the boiling liquids in the master's alembic in front of him as he heard you gasp in delight of the news. Excitement and gratitude spilt from your lips (ever so humble, Albedo smiles to himself) as he places the tubes back into the racks, turning to finally acknowledge the presence of the Cavalry Captain.
Kaeya would send him an acknowledging nod as he leans on the door, starting small talk once again as he watches Albedo trudge over to where you two are. "So, the Prince still ignoring you, Beau-," you flinched at the loud smack the door produced upon hitting the Captain's face, pushing him off the doorway and out of the room as the laboratory door closes at Albedo's guidance.
There was a strangled cry at the other side, muffled. A sweat drops from your eyebrow as you kept a close eye at Albedo's back, who still had his hand on the doorknob. "Sorry, Captain," he doesn't sound sorry at all, "Can't let the chemical fumes escape the laboratory."
You let out an awkward laugh after holding your breath from the tension.

2. Oxytocin
Oxytocin is a peptide hormone and neuropeptide. It is normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary. It plays a role in social bonding, reproduction, childbirth, and the period after childbirth. Oxytocin is released into the bloodstream as a hormone in response to love and in labor.
Albedo remembered this little snippet by heart even if he's only seen your paper's abstract once in a once over; he gladly memorized it upon your introduction of the pheromone, claiming that it was something that played a huge part in you developing feelings for him, and probably vice versa.
Whenever you hug him, you always linger for more than twenty seconds. At first the preciseness of it was confusing (yet interesting in pattern) until you claimed that the oxytocin starts to trigger upon prolonged exposure with those you love. He felt his heart be pierced by some astral arrow, not in the painful way, but he had been indulging you ever since.
It was adorable, and he finds himself following the practice unconsciously too. Placing down your binded research, Albedo would wrap his other arm around your waist as the other one was already looped around your shoulders. The action made you lean to him more with a delighted purr, and he hides his warm cheeks by nuzzling to the crown of your head.
"Oxytocin," he experimented with the 'nickname' and waited for a response or recognition. "Oxytocin." He tries again.
"Huh- no, you're pronouncing it wrong, dear!"
You lean back far enough to loosen the hug and started on your lecture on how it's correctly uttered, which would then turn into a little debrief of your research on the matter. Albedo would smile and slightly nod to your explaining ministrations, while in his head he was face-palming at the ingenious attempt.
He shouldn't have bothered with that one.

3. Honey
After a proper and sanitary clean up of the used equipment, in which in a honesty you have zero clue what kind of concoction he was making before Kaeya came, you are now both out beyond the walls of the city of freedom for a rare leisure time of relaxation. Albedo hums to himself at the feeling of the cool breeze brushing past his cheeks, reducing the warmth that came from him being cooped up in his laboratory.
"Ventilation really needs to be fixed there, sweetie."
He hums again as he felt your hand pull him closer to the treeline overlooking the city further away. The trees look much more lush than the last time he'd seen them, ah, maybe there's something here that could be of inspiration for his current research.
He doesn't notice the wondrous look you gave over his contemplating gaze, smiling at the thought of his mind coming up of a million questions or theories to experiment about. What a genius your lover is, you pat yourself on the back for the achievement of having him in your life, completely oblivious to his actual musings.
A buzzing noise from above had pulled you both out of your reverie, seeing a familiar structure of yellow mush and hexagonal design. A drop of honey plops on the tip of your nose. Albedo snorts. "At least we know the bee population has yet to deteriorate, honey." Ohhh, pretty smooth Albedo, Albedo nods to himself in his delivery.
"Yep, pretty sure this is honey on my nose," you chuckle as you wiped the said liquid with your thumb, looking at it in contemplation. The Alchemist's shoulders sag at his failed delivery, but he has yet to lose hope, maybe it was the distraction that ruined it. It's the perfect opportunity to try it out, he has more time.
The buzzing comes closer, Albedo straightens his back once again. "Do you wish to get some samples, Ho-"
"THAT'S NOT A BEE, THAT'S A GODDAMN WASP, RUN!"
The blonde watched your form immediately shrink as you ran like the wind, to which then he'd look at the wasp simply hovering where you were, as it stares back at him with almost human confusion.

4. Muse
When Albedo had finally caught up to you (you went really far) with both of you very breathless (you both have shitty stamina, he mused, you two need to get out more), he found a nice spot to settle down on to finally relax by. A spot with a nice elevation to overlook Mondstadt's glory accompanied by a nice bed of grass and stray flowers.
Inspired the artist flops down further back to start sketching the view while you and your white coat decided to haphazardly flop down on the grass, basking in the way the flowers tickled your exposed skin as you watched the clouds.
Suddenly you were talking about the clouds and dreams, about the stars and how they somehow correlate to the personalities of a human being. You closed your eyes when the sun peeked through the clouds, but you didn't mind the warm kiss, as your God's winds continued to bring the most cooling breeze.
Somehow between the grassy landscape and the distant city, Albedo had ended up including you in his sketch. You looked ethereal with the sun kiss, the white coat sprawled around you accentuating your heavenly touch, his hands making quick work to capture it all perfectly. When he looks back up again, he finds you stretching, blinking away the unexpected nap from your eyes as you start to sit up.
"Please stay still, my muse. We are in no hurry, you can rest more."
You held yourself in an awkward 45 degree angle, turning your head to his direction as you continue to wipe at your eyes. Strands frame your face perfectly as you tilt your head with a tired smile, "Muse? Dear, are you drawing me?" The sketchbook raises to hide half of his face.
Artist nerves always felt embarrassed when getting caught drawing, especially when it's the subject of the picture. "I'm simply drawing the landscape."
"Can I see it then-"
"No."
If calling you by that triggers your curiousity, maybe it's not the most convenient choice of them all. At least, not until he gets comfortable showing you the 50 pages of drawings of nothing but you.

5. Cutie
Head cleared and break well-spent, hand-in-hand the two couple walks back into the city of Mond for their last stop before they once again dive into their work in their respective crammed places for days on end. This statement is more appropriate for the Alchemist rather than the Sociologist, seeing as they had just finished one of their major researches and only needing proofreading to officially publicize the results. While the other was still trying to wake up from the remnants of the power nap, Albedo indulges himself with the chatters that had spurred on upon the arrival.
"Look at them, oh how cute they look."
"What a cute couple, so lucky they got THE alchemist as their cute lover."
Despite the praising directed at the other's achievement, Albedo felt more smug about his own triumph. The public does not know how lucky he was to have someone like you, so caring and patient, understanding and reflective. And more so, as they word it, absolutely-
"Cuties, it's so nice to see you two out and about." The sultry voice sent unsavory shivers down his spine, ever so subtly.
"Miss Lisa! I was just about to look for you!"
"Well here I am now, cutie. I assume this is about the proofreading?" As the two scholars delved into the specifics of the report, Albedo slightly dimmed at the loss of the warmth of your hand as you skimmed through the papers you had carried with you for reference.
Ah, he supposes it's not the most appropriate naming scheme when someone was already using it. Especially when it's connected to such character of... words he doesn't dare say now that he's in a relationship.
Lips slightly low at the edges, Albedo consults the list haphazardly written on his clipboard of sketches, crossing out his second to the last resort.
1. Beautiful
2. Oxytocin
3. Honey
4. Muse
5. Cutie
Which leaves him to his last resort, and the cheesiest one of that. "Princess, it's almost night time," he taps his pencil on the paper before looking up upon realizing the conversation had stopped on his behalf.
There you stood with your head looking over your shoulder, eyes wide and lips parted as a brush of a blush painted your cheeks. Behind towered Lisa with a knowing smirk on her face, amusement and a bit bark squeal evident at the rare public display of affection. Even if it was not physical, the scholar knew of the couple's struggles.
"Y-Yes, my prince." You mumbled slowly, and when Albedo nodded, you turned back to the librarian to finalize quickly over the book binding order. The witch knew it beforehand anyways and soon she was nudging you towards Albedo almost too enthusiastically.
"Have a nice day, Miss Lisa," he parted with those words before pulling you back to your quarters, hands immediately finding each other to intertwine. Still flustered, you shyly took a peek over Albedo's shoulder to see a triumphant smirk splattered on it as he continues to walk straight on.
How charming and adorable, you thought with a smile, as you crumpled up the numbered list of paper in the pockets of your coat.
Your own little research finally resolved.
