that kind of love never dies (I)
summary: the one where barbara thinks about an act of rebellion.
pairing: jake x mc
word count: 1.3K
warnings: tkolnd takes place after the events of episode 10; cover images found on pinterest; english is not my first language.
author’s note: even though she lives in the usa, my main character, barbara, is brazilian. i added terms and expressions that we use in our country, as well as cultural elements, to this fanfic. the words that appear in portuguese are highlighted and you can contact me if you have any questions.
masterlist
Barbara was sprawled out on the dorm carpet, reading a Lucy Maud Montgomery novel she found by chance in the university library, when her cell phone began vibrating on the nightstand. Without wasting time, she closed the book and got up, waiting to hear from her roommate, Meera, but, when Barbara swiped her finger across the lock screen, she found some text messages from an unknown number.
i would like to invite you again to eat something at that chinese restaurant
if you want to meet me, just show up there tomorrow
i'll be waiting for you :)
Her head started to throb just at the possibility of it being who she was imagining, but she quickly pushed the thought away.
Jake wouldn't put himself in danger like that.
After everything that happened in Grimrock, Duskwood's chief of police, Alan Bloomgate, personally went after her to conduct the interrogation, and, more than once, made it very clear that it was best for her to stay away from her new friends for a while. He didn't go into detail when he told her about what happened at the Ironsplinter Mine, but he confirmed that Richy was alive — despite having some serious injuries — and that Jake had fled from the FBI agents during the confusion caused by the explosion.
All the messages she sent and received during that time became evidence. Barbara had what it took to close Hannah Donfort's case literally in the palm of her hand, including the kidnapper's confession.
Consequently, she also had the means that could lead the people who were after Jake straight to him.
She was interrogated by the FBI countless times for months, until Alan decided to intervene and convinced her to hand over her cell phone to them in exchange for her old life. Since then, Barbara has not been part of the joint investigation. Or at least that's what they say — she's too smart to really believe that.
For a few seconds, she considered the chance that it was someone trying to play a trick on her. The video Lilly Donfort posted accusing her of kidnapping had gone viral across the Columbia University campus. Even her grandmother, who lived in the interior of Brazil, found out about her involvement with a hacker wanted by the North American government. However, no one else knew about the brief conversation they had about the chinese restaurant.
Except, of course, the FBI.
Without a doubt, it was a trap. Barbara felt her face turn red. It seemed that solving an old international murder case, giving up her privacy, being forced to abandon her group of friends and possibly cheating on the guy she was in love with was not enough. She also needed to act as bait when it was convenient.
Barbara huffed, irritated. Little did they know that Jake had no contact. Their partnership in crime had ended almost a year ago.
Still, there was no reason to decline the invitation. She could very well take advantage of the opportunity to tell some truths to those nosy agents, and as a bonus she would have an excuse to go to Germany without Alan being able to question her too openly.
Her lips lifted into a smile as the plan emerged in her mind.
After going through customs at Zurich Airport, picking up luggage and going to an exchange office to exchange some notes, only an hour and fifteen minutes by car separated Barbara from Duskwood. Luckily, there were several yellow taxis forming a line next to the sidewalk, because it would be a nightmare to have to deal with someone trying to compete for the same vehicle as her.
She walked out of the lounge, pulling her hot pink rolling suitcase, and turned on her smartphone to announce on the family's group chat that she had arrived safely. But before she could check her contact list to see if her parents were online, she collided with a young man's broad chest.
She jumped away from him, apologizing — or at least trying to — in german. He laughed softly, grabbing her arm to stop her from tripping over herself, and for a moment, Barbara forgot to even breathe. The young man seemed to be a few years older than her, he was tall, had dark hair and prominent round eyes that resembled the curve of a teardrop, he was wearing a white sweatshirt with a hood and black jeans.
“I'm sorry, I didn't see you.” He spoke in english, with a slight accent.
“No problem, it was my fault.” Barbara quickly straightened up, realizing that she had somehow stared too long.
The young man analyzed her from head to toe with amusement before bending down and picking up the cell phone that had flown out of her hand during the impact.
“I believe this is yours.” He joked, handing the device to her.
“Thank you.”
He nodded curtly and turned, making his way through the travelers entering and exiting the airport, as silent as a wraith.
She was inexplicably disappointed to see him leave, however she had more important things to deal with. Then, she handed the luggage to the driver to put in the trunk and got into the taxi, giving the address of the Gates Hotel, on the outskirts of Duskwood.
Barbara ran across the room, feeling the cold floor beneath her feet. She was considerably late, but as far as she remembered, she had never arrived on time to participate in the interrogations, so whoever was waiting for her at the restaurant wouldn't mind too much. She put on a black strapless dress, put on her highest heels and curled her wet hair with her fingers, leaving a small trail of water on the floor.
Through an opening in the peach curtains, she noticed that the rain had picked up outside, beating violently against the window pane. She cursed under her breath, hoping someone at the front desk could lend her an umbrella, and before Barbara could procrastinate her meeting with the FBI Special Agent any further, she took one last look at the floor mirror near the entrance hall, realizing that she was dressed for revenge.
“Someone would definitely approve of that.”
Smiling to herself, she went down a small flight of stairs to the ground floor, where the girl at the reception was reading a magazine with Nicholas Galitzine's photo on the cover.
“How can I help you?” She asked in english, without taking her eyes off the celebrity gossip.
“Hey, how you doin'? Could you lend me an umbrella, please?”
“Of course.” She said, reaching for the object under the counter and handing it to her. “A fee of two euros will be added to your room bill.” Barbara sighed, surprised, as she mentally converted the currency. “What?” The receptionist looked up, frowning. “Did you think it would be free?”
“No, obviously not.” Barbara lied, smiling politely.
“Return it by midnight or I will have to charge the full value of the item.” The girl announced, turning her attention to the magazine. Then she added: “Nice dress.”
“Okay, I'll pay when I check out.” She assured, walking towards the glass doors while opening her rented umbrella. “And thank you.”
“Have fun, Cinderella!”
Barbara regretted walking out the door as soon as she set foot on the sidewalk. Not just because of the rain, but because of the wind blowing your hair back. In any case, she had come too far to give up, and despite the storm, she could see the lights of the chinese restaurant through the blue haze a few meters ahead, on the other side of the street.
Before she could take another step, someone grabbed her arm and turned her around.
“What?” She blinked in amazement at the handsome young man she had met at the airport.
“Come with me.” He said, pulling her away from the hotel entrance.
“You are crazy? I do not know you!” Barbara shouted, dropping the umbrella near her feet. The rain completely drenched them both in moments. “Me solta!”
“Barbara, please.” He asked, breathing short.
The sadness in his voice stopped her struggling.
“How do you…?” She gasped, eyes wide. “Jake?”

... the one where spence takes an interest
Pairings; Spencer Reid x fem!Reader
Words; 0.6k
Warnings; one use of Y/N but this was written back before I stopped using it lol but other than that, none, just fluff!
Summary; {requested} "Not to pester you, I had this thought and wanted to share is all, but could you imagine talking to Spencer about something you're really excited about (like a movie/tv show/game or something) and the next day he starts talking to you in length about it, and it turns out he went home that night and read/watched everything he could on the subject."
A/N; goodness, I wrote this years ago on another blog and since I've been rewatching Criminal Minds, I figured I'd go ahead and post it again (cause why not?)... the one and only thing I ever wrote for Dr. Spencer Reid ajdhsakdshak
{ masterlist }
You didn't plan this. Really, you didn't. But you know how it goes when you start binging a new tv series: just one more episode... and then before you know it, it's 2:00am.
Now you're sitting in the bullpen. It's 8:00am and you're constantly rubbing at your tired eyes and chugging coffee like your life depends on it.
And Spencer is wearing a curious expression, already extrapolating possibilities as to what could have kept you awake last night.
But he doesn't mention it. Not when the team is discussing the new case, not even on the jet en route to your destination. He waits until it's just you and him, paired off to go talk to the medical examiner about the latest victim.
"Are you okay?"
"Hmm? Oh yeah, just a little tired."
He smiles warmly, offering you an amused glance before fixing his eyes back on the road. "I gathered. What kept you up?"
"You know, I just..."
But then you realize you don't want to tell him, not really. To you, staying up super late to watch a tv show seems embarrassing when compared to how he most likely spent his night.
You imagine that he read around six books, most of which were probably in a language you didn't understand. Or maybe he called his mom to check in with her. Or maybe he had nightmares himself and so he thinks that's exactly what happened with you...
Any scenario you think of infinitely sounds better than oh, you know, I just stayed up super late watching some trashy guilty pleasure tv show because I have no self control.
"Nothing really," you settle on, "it's dumb."
"Try me."
So you cave, mostly because you're too tired to fight. He listens intently as you tell him about the new show you found, how it's completely ridiculous but it allows you to step out of your life for a bit and relax.
He doesn't say much, just nods along as you talk and before you know it, you've arrived at your destination and it's back to work.
Spencer actually doesn't mention your conversation again for the remainder of the case and finally, the unsub is in custody and the team is back home to enjoy a nice, long weekend.
You don't see or hear from Spencer during this time but first thing Monday morning, he's greeting you as you step off the elevator with a cup of coffee and a bright smile.
... and then he tells you he spent the weekend watching the first season of the show you mentioned and to his surprise, he really enjoyed it.
To say you're confused is an understatement but you listen as he discusses every character and what he thinks of the current story arc.
"Spencer," you laugh, resting your hand on his arm and halting his speech. "Not that I'm not thrilled to talk about this but I really wasn't expecting you to go home and watch an entire season of a show just because I mentioned it."
He smiles sheepishly, eyes lingering on where your hand still rests on his arm.
"You were really excited about it though."
"And?"
"And it seemed important to you... so it's important to me."
A smile pulls itself across your face and you open your mouth to respond when you're both interrupted by Garcia letting you know there's another case.
"Hold that thought," you inquire.
"It's impossible for me to forget it."
And just like that, you're discussing trashy tv with Dr. Spencer Reid during any downtime that you're granted. You gush about your favorite character and he theorizes future story arcs while simultaneously pointing out behavioral inaccuracies.
"People do not speak like that in that kind of situation, Y/N."
"It's tv, Spence, it's supposed to be unrealistic. That's what makes it fun."
+ Bonus: if it's a series that is currently airing, you both come into the office the next morning and excitedly discuss every single thing that happened and then theorize on what could possibly happen next.

this is a part of my Summer Suntacular Event, come check it out!
guys i am SO BEYOND EXCITED TO FINALLY POST THIS!!! ive been waiting a WEEK...anyway sorry for starving my obey me followers for almost a year...my bad
Lucifer:
surprisingly not wearing his dorky scuba suit
hovers around the grill while Beel cooks
brings extra water and sunscreen in case anyone forgets theirs
pesters you about reapplying your sunscreen like every 20 minutes
tries to beat Beel at chicken but almost instantly loses
brings his extra paperwork and refuses to participate in anything until he finishes it
the only one who’s jaw doesn’t drop when he sees you in your bathing suit
he still thinks you’re hot—he just doesn’t show it like everyone else
insists on getting a group photo of everyone but it takes like ten tries before he gives up because everyone keeps squinting at the sun
wants to be the “responsible” one and not drink so he fills his thermos with sangria to be sneaky
literally everyone knows it's sangria cause who brings a thermos to the pool
Mammon:
asks for your help taking pictures of his brothers in their bathing suits so he can sell them
does not burn and refuses to put on sunscreen unless you beg him to
and then acts like he’s not doing it for you but just protecting himself
doesn’t bring his own beer or anything and just leeches off of everyone else’s
has another, secret mission of trying to push Lucifer in the water without getting caught
succeeds and blames it on you like the bastard (affectionate) that he is
thinks you look too hot in your bathing suit and tries to cover you the whole day. does not succeed.
will cause a fight if anyone compliments you
“Mammon are you jealous or something”
“tch the Great Mammon doesn’t get jealous. you’re crazy.”
Levi:
a miracle that he even came outside i'm afraid
wears his dorky ass hawaiian button up and goggles around his neck
burns SO easily please slather him in sunscreen
hates that the other brothers get to see you in your bathing suit and pouts about it like the baby he is
lays on a lawn chair and plays on his switch + refuses to get in the water
however as soon as you ask Beel for a piggyback in the pool, he’s Michael Phelps
carries a water gun and pretends like he’s assassinating people
accidentally ruins Asmo’s makeup and starts a brawl
super blushy and flustered if you come near him in your bathing suit
and if you touch him his system does a hard reset
refers to the whole day as a ‘filler episode’ much to everyone’s confusion
eats about a thousand different popsicles with increasingly weird flavours
wears a pair of purple crocs with anime charms (he’s been begging you to get a pair for months so you guys can match croc charms)
Satan:
does not care much for swimming but he’ll lay on a lawn chair and read his book
talks to you at least three times about the dangers of UV rays and the importance of sunscreen
has a really dorky sun visor that he wears anytime he’s in the sun like an old man
brings an extra matching one for you
needs to challenge Lucifer at absolutely everything
the second Luci steps in the water to play chicken, Satan is throwing you on his shoulders
has one of those lounge floats decorated with cats that he lays on while he reads and sunbathes
only drinks moscow mules and insists that you try them
has a meticulously maintained pair of Birkenstocks that he wears everywhere
tries to wear them into the pool and has a five minute argument with Lucifer about why he can’t
lays out your towel in the sun for you so it’s nice and warm when you get out of the pool
bonus points if he wraps you up in it
Asmo:
comes an hour later after everyone else because he had to shave everywhere and paint his nails to match his bathing suit
takes a thousand and one pictures of himself
and about a million more of the two of you together (his favourite of which he sets as his lock screen)
has an incredible collection of cruelty free, reef friendly, non-comedogenic sunscreens that he applies liberally
goes in the water but refuses to get his hair wet and WILL cause a fight if anyone splashes him
weirdly good at chicken but only because he doesn’t want to fall in the water
loves aesthetic cocktails served in fruits and drinks them the whole day
probably the best at making cocktails too
has a timer set for when he has to reapply sunscreen and asks you (and only you) to help him apply it
also forces you to wear sunscreen
Levi uses his expensive face sunscreen on his body and Asmo almost kills him
Beel:
the absolute grill master
he’s got 10 different things on the go, a beer in one hand and tongs in the other
challenges everyone to a game of chicken and refers to you as his ‘secret weapon’ to win
the Satan/Asmo duo get surprisingly close to winning but Asmo chips his nail and concedes
has one of those floaties that you can put drinks and snacks in and drags it along with him in the pool
lets you hang off his back while he swims
if you’re laying down on your towel he WILL come and shake the water off of himself on you like a dog
will only throw you in the pool if he 100% knows it won’t upset you
threatens the other brothers to do the same or face the consequences
forgets to put on sunscreen but somehow doesn’t burn???
comes out looking like a greek god
Belphie:
spends 90% of his time lounging on a pool float like the lazy mf he is
bats his eyes at you and asks you to bring him drinks everytime he finishes his
did not inherit Beel’s ability to tan and burns
five minutes in the sun and he becomes a lobster
only leaves his pool float to play one (1) round of chicken (that he loses) and if he gets too hot
also his pool floaty is definitely black and white like a cow
everytime he hears Satan lecture you about sunscreen he repeats it in a high pitched nerd voice
belphie pls wear sunscreen
probably falls asleep on the floaty at least once until Beel comes and flips him into the water
if anyone splashes him he WILL retaliate to the fullest extent
compliments how you look in your bathing suit just to annoy Mammon
steals everyone’s drinks if they leave them by the edge of the pool bcs he’s too lazy to grab his own

episode two: trick or treat, freak
“Why do you only ever care about me when I’m some kicked fucking puppy?” Steve’s words are vicious, and you flinch at his tone. “You know that’s not true,” “It’s not?” He scoffs at you. “Then explain what happened this summer.” “I…” You can’t. Steve sees your reluctance to say anything and lets out a harsh laugh. “Yeah, whatever. Some real fucking friend you were.”
Summary: you and nancy have a bonding session in the library (kinda hot tbh), billy gives jonathan and steve a common cause to unite on: Protect Y/N, you're a chauffeur to a very sad steve harrington, and dustin uses will's trauma to his advantage.
Rating: general, slight cursing
Warnings: fem!reader, use of y/n, slight sexual harassment (billy corners reader and is gross), cursing, alcohol
Words: 7.9k

-
The Henderson house is pure chaos morning of Halloween.
Dustin is running around the house, screaming about how his costume has to be absolutely perfect and that if you don’t hurry up with the jack-o-lantern pancakes then he’s going to just leave without eating breakfast. Meanwhile your mother is running after him, straightening his suit and tidying his hair.
“The pancakes are almost done, my god.” You flip the last pancake, but in your rush the jack-o-lantern’s smile turns into more of a grimace, but hey, food is food. You quickly set Dustin’s plate down on the table and practically shove him into the seat.
“Eat.”
“But my proton blaster–”
“Is on the steps, I’ll grab it. Eat, I want pictures with you.” You kiss the top of your brother’s head and then run over to grab his costume’s prop.
“I’m thirteen now, I don’t need my sister doting on me–” Dustin complains, but then his eyes land on the mini Reese’s Pieces you’ve decorated his pancakes with and quickly changes his tone. “Oh! Candies! Yummy!”
You laugh at him and bring his backpack over. The Ghostbusters matching costume idea that boys have planned for today makes you want to just sweep them all into your arms and kiss their tiny little faces. They may be getting older with crushes and angsty feelings, but they’re still the same nerdy little boys you met when you were twelve.
Dustin wolfs down his pancakes and your mom prepares her camera. You woke up earlier than usual this morning specifically so that you could make Dustin’s annual Halloween pancakes and then take pictures of him with his costume on. As soon as he’s done eating, you and your mom whisk him towards the fireplace for pictures.
“Oh, I want to see those pearls!” Your mother squeals as she takes a million pictures of Dustin. When he smiles, she loses her mind. “Yeah! Lovely, I love it!”
You’re just as ecstatic as your mom. “Who you gonna call Dustin?”
“Ghostbusters!” He sings along, holding up his proton blaster with an even wider smile on his face.
It’s a happy morning.
Dustin puts on a show as he poses for your mom, and you even join in for some. Sure, you aren’t in costume, but who knows how many more mornings like these you have left? Dustin is getting older, all the boys are, so you plan on cherishing these mornings for as long as possible.
You and Dustin are giggling as you now stand back to back, him holding his blaster and you holding up finger guns, and your mom is taking multiple final pictures when Jonathan arrives. He knocks on the door before letting himself in. When he sees you and Dustin posing, he starts loudly belting the Ghostbusters song.
“God, bee. At least let my coffee kick in before you subject me to your horrible singing.” You playfully groan, grabbing your own backpack and pancakes to eat on the road.
Jonathan ignores your teasing and ruffles Dustin’s hair. “Nice costume, bud.”
Dustin, seemingly still holding a grudge against the guy after your conversation from last night, slaps his hand away and glares at him. “Don’t mess up the hair.”
Your brother proceeds to stare Jonathan down, gives him an “I’m watching you” gesture, and then walks out the front door without any further words. You, Jonathan, and your mom all stand in the living room in varying states of emotions. You’re trying not to laugh at your brother’s antics, your mom is happily looking at the photos she took, and Jonathan is standing there in complete confusion.
“What was that about?” He asks you, slightly hurt by Dustin’s rebuff.
“Shhh,” you hand him a plate of pancakes and then walk towards the front door. “Let’s get to school, bee.”
–
At school, the mullet guy from yesterday finds you at your locker as soon as Jonathan has walked away. The two of you had been running behind schedule, so you’d told Jonathan to head to first period so at least he’d be on time while you tried to find your history textbook.
As you’re digging through your locker, the mullet guy stalks up behind you.
“I never got your name,” he says with a breathy voice, standing way too close behind you.
You straighten your back, but don’t turn around. You know that if you do, the guy will only get a kick out of having your face close to his. “You never asked.”
“So there’s some sass to you underneath all that sweetness.” His breath hits the back of your neck and you shiver, but in a way that makes you feel dirty and unclean.
“What do you want?” You ask the guy, your fingers wrapping around the textbook that you’ve finally found. If needed, you’re sure it’ll make a handy weapon. It’s only you and the guy in the hallway. Everyone else has holed up in class and you’re now regretting sending Jonathan away. You feel trapped, vulnerable, and you hate it.
Mullet man chuckles deeply, his voice reverberating against your back. “Nothing yet. Just thought I’d introduce myself to such a pretty face.”
You don’t say anything, your fingers only tighten around your textbook. If he gets any closer, you’ll swing.
Though you can’t see him, you can feel his eyes flicker to your textbook and he lets out another cruel laugh. “Loosen up, sweetheart, I won’t hurt ya.” You don’t move, and he seems to get another kick out of this. “My name is Billy. Remember that for me, alright?”
Finally Billy steps away from you and you slowly release all the tension that’s built up within you. You still don’t turn around, he hasn’t left yet, but your hands are shaking a bit and you feel unsteady.
“Would you do me a favor, Billy?” Your voice is steady, there’s no trace of the fear within you.
“I’m listening,” Billy is practically purring and you want to gag at how much his cockiness oozes around you.
You turn, now finally facing him, and slam your textbook against Billy’s chest. “Learn some fucking personal space.”
Billy’s only reaction is a smile, which only makes you more uncomfortable, but you refuse to show him this. Instead, you square your shoulders and walk towards your first class. You’ve dealt with assholes in the past; you’ve known Steve Harrington since you were twelve. But Billy is different.
You’re not sure if you want to find out just how different he is from Steve.
–
Another small highlight of your school year so far has been your study sessions in the library with Nancy resuming. The two of you had drifted apart this summer, you just rarely ever saw the girl in between your hectic work schedule and her dates with Steve, but from the first day of junior she’s helped you with your math equations and you’ve helped her with her english essays.
It’s a good trade off and you’ve enjoyed spending time with the girl. Unlike last year, Jonathan doesn’t join anymore. He can’t be too close with her now that she’s back with Steve. So, it’s just you and her for an hour every day during study hall. It’s nice, if you’re being honest.
Today though there’s something off with Nancy.
She’s been tapping her pencil on the table for the last few minutes. Right before you can politely ask her to stop, the tip of the pencil snaps in half. She sighs. “Shit,”
“There’s a sharpener over by the window,” you point towards the general direction. “Sharpen your pencil before these equations officially end my life.”
Nancy laughs, excusing herself and walks over to the sharpener.
You focus back on your homework, the equations swimming around in your brain. It’s not that you’re necessarily bad at math, but you’re no whiz at it either. You get lost in the practice problems, erasing and re-erasing frequently, and you don’t realize just how long Nancy has been gone until she returns. She sits down, and you’re about to make a horrible joke about how stupid it is to find x, when you notice how shaken Nancy looks.
“Woah, hey.” You set your pencil down and turn your attention to Nancy. “Are you okay? You look upset.”
Nancy looks towards one of the library’s private study rooms and you see Steve’s retreating figure. You gather that something’s happened between them, but it confuses you because they’ve been nothing but lovey dovey ever since they got back together. What could possibly cause strife between them?
“C’mon, you can talk to me. I’m known for my fantastic advice.” You probe again, and this time Nancy lets out a soft chuckle.
“It’s… complicated.”
“Take all the time you need. I’ve been stuck on question five for like, twenty minutes now. Any distractions are welcomed.”
Now Nancy lets out a genuine laugh and you find yourself laughing as well. The storminess behind her eyes from earlier has lessened, she looks more relaxed now. Once she’s done laughing, she takes a deep breath and starts from the beginning. “Steve and I have been having dinner with Barb’s parents.”
When Barb’s name leaves Nancy’s lips, you feel your stomach twist with guilt. Had you known this would be about Barb, you wouldn’t have pestered Nancy so much into speaking. You know how much she misses her best friend still, no one blames her.
“Well that sounds nice,” you try to comfort. “I’m sure they appreciate your company.”
Nancy bites her lip and looks away from you. “They wouldn’t if they knew Steve and I killed Barb.”
Shock washes over you. “Can I ask for some context?”
“Steve and I… When I forced Barb to come to his stupid party with me, we–we left her alone that night. By the pool…” Nancy’s voice cracks, and you grab her hand to encourage her to keep going. “We went upstairs to have sex, and Barb–she didn’t want me to leave her alone but I–I did and–”
You remember the photos Jonathan took last year, specifically the one where Barb had been sitting all by herself along the pool’s edge. Behind her had been a shadowy figure, a monster you soon would learn was from an alternate dimension with an intent to kill.
“You think Barb died because you left her alone to go have sex with Steve.” You finish for Nancy, her tears rendering her unable to say more.
She nods, looking away again as more tears stream down her face. You feel horrible for her, knowing first hand just how cruelly guilt can eat away at someone. Jonathan doesn’t know this, but you still think you’re the reason Will disappeared last year. You were the one who left him alone that night. If you had been there, if you had dropped him off at the Byers’ doorstep, you’re sure that he would’ve never ended up facing the horrors that he did.
As for Nancy, you understand everything she’s feeling and more. It isn’t fair how one simple choice, one moment of selfishness, can lead to such tragedy and pain.
Cautiously, you ask Nancy a question. “Does Steve know about the guilt you feel?”
“He knows, but he doesn’t understand.” Nancy’s voice laces with grief and bitterness. “He found me by the pencil sharpener. There was this girl, she looked so much like Barb and I just… I zoned out. I was stuck there, thinking about her, when he found me.”
“Did he notice you were upset?”
“Of course he noticed. He’s Steve, I could shed a single tear and he’d be all over me like I’m some baby.” Nancy scoffs, which makes you frown. You’re not sure what’s so wrong with that, having someone so attuned to your emotions because they love you that deeply.
You push aside your thoughts, however. “What happened, then?”
“We went into a study room and I snapped.” Nancy’s close to tears again. “I just… I want to tell Barb’s parents what really happened. They’re selling their house, Y/N. They’re selling their own home to afford this private detective who promised them he’d find out what happened to her. What–what kind of person would I be if I let my best friend’s parents go bankrupt for being worried about their only child?”
“Nancy…”
“And Steve, he just… He told me it was a bad idea, that–that our families could get hurt and all that bullshit, but what am I supposed to do? I’m trying to figure something out, to fix this, and Steve just wants to go to some stupid party and pretend everything is okay?” Nancy is almost shouting now, and you nervously look around to make sure you're not disturbing anyone. It’s still a library, after all.
Nancy takes a few seconds to collect herself, to steady her breathing and control her anger. You let her take all the time she needs, and when she seems calm enough, you speak. “I understand where you’re coming from and why you’re upset. What happened to Barb is despicable, but… Well, I also agree with Steve.”
“Y/N–”
“No, okay. Listen for a second,” you pause, trying to figure out exactly how to say what you’re thinking. “I think Steve means well, he doesn’t have a malicious bone in that silly body. The Halloween party can be a good thing for you if you let it, a way to destress. You have to move on, you have to allow yourself to move on.”
Nancy tries to argue some more but you continue. “I understand your guilt better than anyone else, I was the one who lost Will that night. But we all signed those contracts, Nancy. If we told anyone what really happened to Barb… It wouldn’t be fair to everyone who gets hurt, all our family members, because we broke a legal oath. You understand that, right?”
“I understand, but it’s not fucking fair.” Nancy’s eyes have a determination in them that startles you. You’ve always known that she was fierce, but seeing the edge in her eyes almost scares you. She’s angry, more than you’ve ever seen her before.
You sigh. “I know, I wish I could do more, but…”
Nancy nods, understanding that there’s not much else you guys can do. You hate to let her down like this, you know she needs to hear something else, to feel supported, but you don’t know what else to tell her.
Steve’s right in his own way, and so is Nancy.
“Can you at least come to the party tonight?” Nancy softly pleads. “It’s just, I’ll feel more comfortable with you there, like I’m less crazy… I mean, that is if you even want to come and–”
“Of course I’ll come, Nance.” You don’t even hesitate to promise her this, nor do you realize that you’ve just called her “Nance”. It slipped from your tongue naturally, as if solidifying your friendship with the girl. You hate parties and loud crowds, but if Nancy needs you there by her side, to hold her hand and remind her of how brave she is, then you’ll happily do so.
Nancy sinks into her seat, relieved. “Thank you, I owe you one.”
“I’ll hold you to that, you know.”
Nancy throws a piece of paper at you and you dodge it, throwing your pencil at her in retaliation. The two of you break out into a fit of giggles until the librarian eventually snaps at you guys and reminds you to be quiet.
You reluctantly get back to work, and as you’re writing down more complex equations, you notice that there’s still a far off look in Nancy’s eyes. You know that she’s still thinking about Barb, the guilt eating away at her, and you know that the topic is far from settled.
–
Halloween is in full swing the second Jonathan drops you off at home from school. There’s already kids milling around up and down your block in an assortment of costumes, all squealing with joy as they collect their candy.
“Meet you in two hours?” You ask Jonathan as you unbuckle your seatbelt.
“Yeah, but remember that I’m not wearing a costume.”
“C’mon, bee! It’s Halloween, where’s your holiday spirit?”
Jonathan groans. “Nag at me all you want, I’m not dressing up. I will, however, offer to be your arm candy.”
“That’s the spirit!” You kiss Jonathan’s cheek and run out of the car and straight into your house. You have two hours to wrap up goodie bags for the neighborhood kids and then get dressed in your costume. It’ll be a tight schedule, but luckily you’re off of work tonight.
It takes you about an hour to assort all your gift bags, separating the boys’ bags from the local kids’ bags, and before you know it you’ve successfully hand packaged goodie bags for an entire army. Once you’re done, you run to your room and throw on your costume. The dress slips over your head and settles gently over you.
You stand in front of your mirror and smile.
It’s perfect.
You’re going as Princess Buttercup tonight for Halloween. You read the Princess Bride around the end of summer and quickly fell in love with Buttercup. You’re not sure if you fell in love with the character because you read the book right after pushing Steve away, or because you saw yourself in Buttercup, but you came to adore her.
Buttercup may have been a bit ditzy, but she loved with everything within her, and with such a passion, that you couldn’t help but admire her. It was her love for others that ultimately drove the story further, and you think there’s something beautiful about that.
The red dress fits perfectly around you and you grab the gold chain that will serve as your belt. Once you’ve secured it around yourself, you place Buttercup’s golden circlet around your head. The costume had been pricier than you would’ve preferred, but as you stand in front of the mirror, you truly do feel like a princess.
Your bee necklace, a wonderful gift from Jonathan, catches light from your window and you smile, bringing your fingers up to the pendant. It’s the only jewelry you need.
“Y/N! Are you almost done? Will radioed that they’d be here soon.” Dustin pounds on your door.
You fling the door open. “I’m done, I just need to put on some makeup.”
Your brother makes a face as he walks into your room and plops himself down onto the beanbag. “You own makeup?”
“Yes, dear brother. I’d wear it more often if I had the time, but between herding you around and my school assignments, I can’t.” You dig through your makeup bag, opting for just mascara and a shimmery pearl eyeshadow. You’ll put on your lipstick in the car to save some time.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with Jonathan, does it?”
You roll your eyes at Dustin. “No, believe it or not I can choose to do things without the influence of others.”
“Hmm, alright. Hurry up though, Mike had this awesome plan to hit up every house with the big candy bars and–”
“Dustin!” You throw a pillow at the boy, shutting him up. “Shush so I can focus.”
He grumbles but remains silent, now watching as you put your makeup on. It’s been a while since you’ve last worn any, so you’re slower than usual. Just as you’re finishing up your mascara, a car honks outside.
Dustin runs out the room and you quickly grab your lipstick and follow after him. You’re wearing your mother’s mary janes again and they pinch your feet as you run, but whatever. You feel pretty tonight, you’re somebody else for now, a princess free from any burdens and stress.
Jonathan is standing outside his car, waiting for you, and when you see him you practically fling yourself in his arms. “You dressed as Westley!”
He spins you around a bit, his plastic sword hitting against his leg. “You wanted me to wear a costume, right?”
You nod, inspecting his costume with glee. He looks amazing, dressed in Westley’s iconic all black attire, his sword by his side, and a mask tied loosely around his neck. To anyone else, Jonathan would look like a regular guy with an affinity for black, but to you, he was dressed as your knight in shining armor.
He’s the Westley to your Princess Buttercup.
Jonathan kisses your knuckles. “Well then, as you wish.”
His words are smooth velvet against your skin, they warm you as the late October air encases you. As you wish, words that became their own I love you within the book. A promise, similar to the one Jonathan made you last year in the passenger seat of his car, pinkies intertwined.
Something stirs within you, seeing Jonathan’s proud smirk on his face because he’s once again managed to surprise you, and the feeling is sickly sweet like syrup. It runs through you slowly, covering every inch of you, and you bask in it.
For now, he’s still yours.
“Can we go now? You guys are gross.” Dustin calls from the car, annoyed.
You and Jonathan spring apart in embarrassment. He laughs, rubs the back of his neck, and tells you, “You look beautiful, Y/N.”
“Why thank you,” you curtsy. “You look rather dashing yourself, good sir.”
“I wasn’t kidding. You look… you’re beautiful.” The sincerity in Jonathan’s voice cuts through you, it cuts through everything between you, and you can only smile.
“Thanks, bee.” You try to keep your voice playful, light and airy as always. “Now, open my door like the brave hero you’re dressed as.”
Jonathan opens your door with a bow, causing you to laugh. You’re sitting in the backseat with Dustin, Will is in the passenger seat, and once you’ve buckled up, Will spins around in his seat to talk to you as Jonathan starts the car.
“Do you think it’s lame that you and Jonathan trick-or-treat with us?
You blink. “What did I miss?”
“I think it’s kinda lame,” Dustin voices next to you, but he lets out a pained squeak after you’ve elbowed his ribs.
Jonathan turns onto the main road and scoffs at the boys. “You think we’re lame?”
“No, but…” Will sinks into his seat, and you watch as he begins to fiddle with the strap of his bag. He’s nervous. “It’s not like Nancy’s coming to watch over Mike, you know?”
Jonathan’s silent, and you catch his eye in the rear view mirror. You know what he’s thinking: Will has been having even more problems in school, he’s sick of being babied, and yet here you guys are, babying him.
You sigh. “Look, Will. We like trick-or-treating with you guys, we don’t go are your babysitters. We go because it’s fun and I get to enjoy free candy as a sixteen year old.”
Will looks out the window and doesn’t acknowledge what you’ve said. You sigh again, knowing that nothing will appease him. He’s only allowed you to see a small portion of how much he’s struggled this year, but you can see his foundations crumbling.
How is he expected to adapt if you and everyone around him refuse to let him do so?
You catch Jonathan’s eye again in the rear view mirror and he seems to be thinking the same thing.
Mike and Lucas run out the Wheeler’s house as soon as you guys park in the driveway. Dustin immediately bolts out the door to greet them, obviously uncomfortable with all the tension, leaving you and Jonathan with Will.
Jonathan looks at you one last time and you nod your head in encouragement. He has to do this, he has to let Will grow on his own.
“Hey, listen.” Jonathan says, stopping Will from leaving. “If I let you go on your own, you promise to stay in the neighborhood?”
Will’s face lights up. “Yeah! Yeah, totally.”
“And be back at Mike’s by 9:00.”
“9:30?”
You reach over and pat Will’s back. “Now you’re pushin’ it, buddy.”
“What Y/N said. Be back by 9:00.” Jonathan instructs, but there’s a fond smile on his face. “Deal?”
“Deal!”
The brothers shake on it and you watch them with a smile. Jonathan hands Will one of Bob’s cameras and makes a poor Dracula joke and you love these boys so much. You wave goodbye to Will as he quickly gets out of the car and runs over to his friends. There’s a new skip in his step, he’s happier than you’ve seen him in a while.
“Alright,” you crawl over the passenger seat and plop yourself in rather ungracefully. “I’d say that went well.”
“We made the right choice, right?”
“I hope so.”
Jonathan sighs and watches the kids, who have now started hitting each other with their candy bags. You flip down the windscreen and use the small mirror in it to apply your lipstick. When Jonathan sees what you’re doing, he does a double take.
“Wait, are you putting on lipstick?”
“Mhm,” you knit your brows together, focused. “We’re going to a party.”
“We are?”
“Nancy begged me to come, and we just left the boys to go trick-or-treating on their own, so what else are we supposed to do tonight?”
“Nancy begged you to come–”
You finish your lipstick and flick Jonathan’s nose to shut him up. “Stop asking so many questions and just start the car, doofus.”
–
The Halloween party is in full swing by the time you and Jonathan arrive. There’s a bunch of drunk teens in an array of costumes, ranging from classic heroes to dumb movie references, and the music is so loud you could hear it while you were still five blocks away.
Jonathan parks the car and looks around wearily. “Are we really doing this?”
“Unfortunately I hate disappointing people, so yeah. We are.”
“One day your people pleasing needs will get you in trouble.”
“I will stab you with your plastic sword.”
“So sweet to me,” Jonathan quips, which you roll your eyes at.
As you’re walking to the front door, you hear a crowd chanting Billy’s name. You freeze, knowing it could only be that awful mullet guy from earlier, and quickly shove Jonathan inside the house.
“Who’s Billy?” He asks, confused.
You shake your head. “Don’t worry about it, let’s try to find Nancy–”
“Nice costume.” A girl dressed in goth attire interrupts you, her eyes only on Jonathan.
Oh great. Another girl interested in Jonathan.
Jonathan looks between you and the girl. “Huh?”
“Nice costume. Going as a goth with a sword?”
“Actually,” you step in front of Jonathan now, forcing the girl to acknowledge your presence. “We’re matching. He’s Westley, I’m Princess Buttercup. Do you like it?”
The goth girl rolls her eyes. “Yeah, totally.” She steps past you and faces Jonathan again. “I’m Samantha.”
Jonathan is again looking between you and the girl, this time with even more fear and confusion on his face, and you almost want to laugh at him in pity. He’s never had a girl so blatantly hit on him, it’s almost hilarious if you ignore the fact that you’re in love with him.
You leave Jonathan to handle the situation himself, scanning the room for Nancy. When you finally spot her, your heart sinks. She’s dancing with Steve, who looks fucking criminally good in his costume. You’re not sure who he’s dressed as, but he puts his Raybans in his mouth and smirks at Nancy and suddenly you understand why so many girls whisper in the halls about his lips.
Nancy looks even better, her white blouse accentuating her beauty even more. She’s dancing with her arms around Steve and now you suddenly really want a drink. Seems like they’ve made up, then.
Right as you’re about to pull Jonathan away from that Samantha girl and call it quits for the night, defeated and pride wounded, you see Steve and Nancy begin to argue over by the punchbowl.
Shit.
You head towards them, shoving past hoards of people who seem to refuse to move. Nancy sees you approaching and only seems to become more upset. Her movement is unsteady, her eyes droopy and glossed over, and even before you walk up to her you know she’s heavily drunk. She’s in a tug of war with Steve and a cup. It’s clear he’s trying to cut off her alcohol intake.
“Hey, Nancy is everything okay–” Your words are cut off as punch splashes all over her white blouse.
Everyone around the couple gasps, and you wince at all the attention. Everyone stares between you, Steve, and Nancy. You quickly find some napkins and begin blotting at her blouse, trying to get as much of the punch out of it, but she drunkenly bats you away.
“Don’t need help,” she slurs, but you shush her.
“I got it, why don’t we go get some water?”
Steve steps in front of you now, aware of the fact that everyone is still staring, and says his first words to you in months. “She’s my girlfriend, I’ll take care of her. Just… just go, Y/N.”
He dismisses you with a wave and you feel hurt wash over you. He hadn’t even spared you a single glance, he just treated you like some annoying fly in his way. You watch, defeated, as Steve guides Nancy to a room and you’re left alone at a party you hadn’t even wanted to go to in the first place.
How fun.
You crumble up one of the napkins in your hand and will away your anger. You don’t deserve to feel angry at Steve’s actions, you’re the one who was so dismissive of him in the first place. He’s just following along, doing what you’ve forced him to do.
As you’re lost in thought, Billy corners you in the kitchen.
“We meet again, sweetheart.” His breath reeks of alcohol and you cringe, the smell burning your nose.
“Didn’t I tell you to learn some goddamn personal space?”
Billy laughs dryly, stepping forward every time you take a step back. Too late, you realize what he’s doing. Before you can stop it, he has your back pressed against a nearby wall. “Now where’s the fun in that?”
You look around, but everyone who had been in the kitchen earlier seems to have left or are far too drunk to realize what’s happening. Billy is peering over you and every part of you wants to run away, to cower. You’ve never been able to handle aggressive men well, no matter how much of a front you put on around Lonnie, you always trembled when he was near.
Billy is no different, and he sees your unease. “Aw, is the princess nervous?”
“I’m surprised Max taught you what a princess looks like.”
At the mention of Max’s name, Billy’s cocky grin slips. Confusion masks his face now, making him appear more human than obnoxiously handsome. “So you know my little sister?”
You try to shove past him, but Billy plants his feet down and places both arms against the wall, trapping you. He’s surrounded you, he wants a reaction out of you. Taking a deep breath, you force yourself to steady your heartbeat and appear indifferent.
“I have my ways,” you shrug, but your heartbeat still pounds rapidly.
Billy raises an eyebrow. “Pretty and intelligent. Why, look at you. I’m impressed, and yet I still don’t know your name.”
You try again to move, but Billy leans his head down and brings his lips to your ear to whisper, “I’ll beg for it, if you want me to.”
“Get off–” He’s too close. He’s too fucking close and his lips against your ear makes you want to throw up, you don’t like this and you feel so fucking pathetic being cornered by such an egotistical asshole.
“Tell me your name, and I’ll go.” There’s a smile in Billy’s voice, you can hear it without even having to look, and it enrages you. You fucking hate men like him.
“Just get the fuck off of me–” You’ve closed your eyes now as you shove harshly against his chest.
Suddenly there’s a thud, a loud “oomph”, and a collective gasp from onlookers at the party. Your hands meet the air, there’s now no one there to push against. Slowly, open your eyes. There, standing in front of you, is Steve holding a very angry Jonathan back while Billy is on the ground.
Jonathan yanks his arm free from Steve and stands over Billy, who is laying on the ground with yet another unnerving smile on his face. Your friend shakes his fist out, which you now see is red, Billy’s face showcases a matching mark. “She told you to get off of her.”
A silence falls over the crowd.
Billy slowly stands up, wipes himself off, and then takes a bow. “Not bad, loner boy.”
Jonathan tries to step closer to him, but Steve grabs his shirt and shakes his head. “He’s not worth it, man.”
“And what do you know about worth, Harrington?” Billy chuckles, now practically in Steve’s face. “Where’s that little girlfriend of yours? You should go ask her what she thinks you’re worth.”
Steve’s face hardens, but you can see dried tears in his eyes. Seeing him about to crumble, you step between the boys. “Enough.”
They look at you, but you ignore them and then wave to the crowd of people still watching. “Show’s over! Go back to drinking away your sorry fucking lives.”
Jonathan pulls you close to him. “Bug, are you okay? Did he hurt you? We need to go home, I’ll bake you brownies and we can just–”
Jonathan’s concerned rambling is enough to make you smile, albeit faintly. “I’m fine, bee.”
Billy observes the interaction, he notices how Steve’s eyes flicker between your interlocked hands with Jonathan and the way your hair frames your pretty face. He sees it all, and he understands exactly what’s happening here.
“Oh, Harrington.” Billy can’t wait to see what happens next. “You’re fucked.”
Steve watches as Billy leaves, confused by his words but too tired to think much of them. He’s had the worst fucking night of his life. His girlfriend just told him she doesn’t love him, then he came outside to see Billy pressing himself against you like some fucking creep. He hadn’t even gotten to help you, Jonathan had beaten him to it. All Steve could do was hold the guy back afterwards.
Now Jonathan is holding your hands and whispering comforting words to you and you’re dressed in Steve’s favorite color, your lips an even prettier red, you’re wearing a goddamn tiara on your head like the princess you truly are, and Steve’s had just about enough of tonight.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Y/N.” Steve tells you tiredly. He then turns to Jonathan. “Uh, Nance and I sorta… Can you just, give her a ride home? She doesn’t…”
Steve’s words catch in his throat and you grab his hand before you can stop yourself. “He’ll take her, won’t you, Jonathan?”
Jonathan stumbles over his words. “Sure, uh. Yeah, I can do that… What about you, though?”
You think about your conversation with Nancy earlier, how she seemed so upset with Steve, and how not even ten minutes ago they’d been fighting over by the punchbowl. There’s a hurt between them, one you think may be too big to patch up with just one conversation, but Jonathan doesn’t know all of this.
“I’ll drive Steve home.”
Both boys stare at you like you’re insane, and honestly? You can’t blame them.
You haven’t spoken to Steve in months, and Jonathan knows this better than anyone.
“Y/N,” Steve lowers his voice. “I haven’t had anything to drink, there’s no need–”
“Too bad. I’m taking you home. Jonathan, go find Nancy and make sure she gets back okay.”
Jonathan and Steve try to argue, but you yank Steve’s hand and make him come with you. It’s long past time the two of you had a talk, anyways.
–
When you exit the house, the weight of everything that’s just happened catches up to you. Your skin still feels raw, Billy’s presence lingering on you. Steve’s hand is warm in yours, but he isn’t holding on the way you secretly hoped he would. Jonathan’s confused and concerned eyes remain in the back of your mind, the image of him standing alone in the party makes you feel guilty.
But you have to do this. You’re tired of being a coward.
Steve is silent as he guides you to his car. He’s parked pretty far, which you hadn’t been expecting. “What, do you not get a special parking spot as King Steve?”
He ignores your attempt at a joke and instead drops your hand.
Okay. You deserved that.
When you get to his car, Steve throws you the keys and silently gets into the passenger seat. You inhale, willing this to end well, and get in the driver’s seat. You start the car and the engine warms your fingertips.
You start to drive.
Steve is looking out the window, and you’ve never seen him appear so small. He’s closed into himself, his shoulders are hunched and his carefree smile from earlier is gone.
“Not to make this awkward, but I kinda don’t know where you live.” You break the silence.
“Make a left up here.”
“Do you want to talk about what happened tonight–”
“Why do you only ever care about me when I’m some kicked fucking puppy?”
Steve’s words are vicious, and you flinch at his tone. “You know that’s not true,”
“It’s not?” He scoffs at you. “Then explain what happened this summer.”
“I…” You can’t.
Steve sees your reluctance to say anything and lets out a harsh laugh. “Yeah, whatever. Some real fucking friend you were.”
You take a shaky breath. You knew this would be hard, but it still hurts more than you thought it would’ve. While you can’t tell Steve everything, you can offer him a half truth. It’s all you can afford, and it isn’t nearly half of what he deserves, but it’s all you can do. “I got scared.”
Your confession causes Steve to turn to you. “Scared?”
“Yeah, scared.”
“Gee, Y/N. That really explains a ton.”
You’re losing him again, so you offer him more. “I’m sorry, Steve. I really am. It’s just… I got scared, I’ve never been good at letting people in. I know it doesn’t excuse my actions, and you didn’t deserve any of it, but you just… You scared me.”
Steve is silent again, only mumbling a quiet, “Turn right after this light.”
“Look,” you push down your fear, you need him to hear you. “You came crashing into my life in such a violent way, and it became the best goddamn thing that happened to me. There you were, spending every day at my job just to talk to me. You asked me questions about myself and noticed things no one else had before and I just… I couldn’t do it.”
You look over at Steve and soften your voice, putting every ounce of your guilt and sincerity into your words. “I missed you.”
“Missed?” There’s something in Steve’s voice that you can’t quite decipher, it’s almost too delicate to examine.
“Miss. I miss you,” you correct, and it takes everything within you not to confess more. To tell him you miss how his eyes turn a warm toffee in the late afternoon light, that you miss his obsession with his mom’s banana bread and that you have a recipe at home that you never got to make for him. You almost tell him that even though you pulled yourself away, you can’t seem to separate him from you. He’s everywhere.
But what you can’t tell Steve, what would break you if he ever found out, is that you’ve come to love how he’s everywhere.
Steve is silent, and you swallow down your tears. It wasn’t enough, but at least you tried.
As you turn into his driveway, Steve finally speaks. “All my life, all I’ve ever wanted was for people to like me.”
“Steve…”
“And every time I think someone finally likes me, I’m wrong. They leave me. I mean, you left me without a fucking word, Nancy lied about loving me, and my bullshit friends at school have replaced me with Billy.”
Nancy lied about loving him?
Steve looks down at his hands, his eyelashes are wet with fresh tears. “I don’t know what I keep doing wrong.”
You throw yourself across the car’s console and wrap yourself around the boy. “You’ve done nothing wrong.”
Steve places one arm around you, then slowly he places his other, and for the first time in months you’re finally back in his arms. He’s surrounded in you again, and he never, ever wants to let you go.
“You won’t leave me again?”
Steve asks this so softly, as if too scared to bring the words into the light and risk them scaring you away. You tighten your arms around him and bury your nose into his neck, his cologne making your brain dizzy. “Never.
And it’s enough for now.
The pieces settle between you and Steve. Something clicks into place and you know that he feels it, too. He tightens his own arms around you, draws small circles against your back, and you stay like that for what feels like hours.
Eventually the two of you break apart and head into his house. He offers you something warm to drink, but you decline. It’s late, you should be heading home soon. You ask Steve where his phone is and then call Jonathan, telling him to come get you from Steve’s.
Jonathan doesn’t ask any questions, his own voice sounding off on the phone. You know that tomorrow you’ll have to explain to him what happened with Steve, and he’ll have to explain what’s happened with Nancy. But tonight, you both settle on ignoring the topic for now.
Steve waits with you downstairs for Jonathan.
“If we’re going to be friends again, then I demand my nickname.”
You look up at the boy and laugh. “What if I told you I still haven’t figured it out yet?”
“Can you at least give me a hint?” Steve bats his eyelashes at you and you shove him away with another laugh.
“Hm,” you think for a moment, reveling in the simplicity between you two again. “It’s lovely. That’s all I can say.”
Steve makes a face. “Lovely? That’s all I get?”
“Mhm.” You poke his face. “For now, please just trust that I’ll stay.”
Steve looks away for a moment, and you admire his lovely side profile, before he finally seems to settle on his thoughts. “Fine, but I expect some type of baked good every day from here on out.”
“Deal.” You raise your pinky and offer it to Steve, who smiles and shakes his head, but wraps his own pinky around yours.
Steve’s eyes are still red, from exhaustion and heartbreak, and yours are probably no better. You know there’s so much the two of you have to face tomorrow morning, to talk about and deal with. Nancy, Jonathan, Billy. But for now, Steve’s pinky is around yours and you couldn’t ask for a better end to your night.
It’s a start.
It’s all you could’ve asked for.
Jonathan arrives later and waits in the car, seeming to sense that you want some privacy as you say goodbye to Steve.
“That’s my ride.” You nudge him. “Oh, don’t think I forgot about the Nancy thing. We’ll talk about that tomorrow.”
“What–”
“We’re friends again and I nag all my friends about their emotions. You were spared last year, but this year? Buckle up, buddy.”
Steve lets out a tired laugh. “Do I have to sign another contract?”
“Nah, you just have to trust me.”
“I do.” He says, no ounce of hesitation.
You squeeze his hand. “Then that’s all I need. Goodnight, Steve. Get some rest.”
Steve nods and watches as you walk towards Jonathan’s car. He stays outside for a while, long after the car has faded in the distance. The cold air makes him shiver, but after everything that’s happened tonight, he welcomes it. His mind is spinning, he’s not sure if he feels more heartbreak or relief, but he decides he doesn’t care.
For now, he’s content.
Now that he has you in his life again, no matter what happens between him and Nancy, he knows he’ll get through it with you holding his hand.
–
The drive home is quiet. Both you and Jonathan seem to be lost in your own thoughts. When you get to your house, you simply tell your friend, “Tomorrow. We’ll talk about it all tomorrow,”
Jonathan nods, his eyes as tired as yours. “Tomorrow.”
You walk inside your house and notice all the lights off. You’re home later than you originally planned, your mom must be asleep already. You kick off your shoes and sigh tiredly. Tonight has exhausted you.
However, you feel bad about skipping out on the boys, so you walk towards Dustin’s room and quietly knock on the door to apologize. After a few knocks, Dustin cracks his door open. “Yes?”
“Hey, just wanted to ask how tonight…” You notice Dustin’s stance, how he seems to almost be trying to block your view of something. “Is everything alright?”
Your brother quickly repositions himself. “Fine! Nothin’ to see here!”
He’s definitely acting suspicious.
“Open the door, show me what’s inside.”
You go to shove your way in, but Dustin scrambles and ends up shouting, “Will had another episode tonight!
“What?” You freeze.
Dustin lets out a breath of relief. He knew using Will’s episode would be a good distraction from what he has in his room. “Will, he had another episode. He’s fine, though… Just thought you should know.”
“Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?”
“Actually,” Dustin lets out a yawn. “I’m kinda tired. Ya know, trick-or-treating is hard work. Can we just call it a night and talk about it tomorrow?”
“I mean, I guess?” Your list of things you need to talk about tomorrow keeps growing.
“Sweet! Goodnight, Y/N!” And with that, Dustin slams his door in your face. He presses his back pressed against his door as he steadies his heartbeat. That was close, too close. After a couple seconds, he walks over to his turtle’s tank and greets Dart again. “Sorry buddy, had to get Y/N away. She’d freak if she found out about you.”
Dart lets out a small screech in response.
“Wonder how long I can keep this from her.”
Meanwhile, you stand in the hall for a moment, completely bewildered as to what’s just happened. It feels like you missed a few important details. There’s something happening, but you have no idea what.
You go to your room and make a plan. Tomorrow, you’ll order a code blue with Dustin and demand information. For now, all you can do is get ready for bed and hope that whatever he’s hiding, it isn’t as monumental as El had been.
Tonight, you go to bed thinking of Nancy and Steve, worried about them both.

i was watching Gilmore girls at the beginning of the year i think and then i suddenly got the urge to watch again, so i'm finally on the last episode of season 2. Im completely in love with Tristan but at the moment i'm loving jess (i also searched up jess edits on tiktok and i've spoiled things for myself so i will be debating on skipping that one scene)
Also Ik this is not the best but I hope u guys like it
Warnings— none
Summary— Jess is turning into a great student and Luke not lorelai can think of a reason he’s become an amazing kid all of a sudden.
The library
Two full weeks, two full weeks had gone by now and no calls from the school had been made to Luke's phone. This was more concerning than actually getting calls from the school. And another notable thing was that Jess started leaving every day at the same time 6:30 and he'd come back home at 9:30 or even earlier.
Luke was getting suspicious but he didn't exactly know how to bring it up since it was very possible he was cheating on his tests, maybe copying off some one else for work. So he decided he'd mention it another day, and every time that decided day came by he'd put it off again, and again.
the two of them were in the diner, it was surprisingly very quiet, there was only one person which was also surprising and then the person walked out. Jess started cleaning up the table before checking his watch.
6:15
He dropped the towel and rushed upstairs, he came back down with a backpack, had he been hiding that thing?
"where are you goin?" Luke asked, finally looking up from the counter “somewhere.” “what do you have in there?” “some things” he shrugged and opened the door, before he could even get one foot out the door he could hear Luke’s heavy steps get closer to him, he turned around again.
“What do you have in there” Luke said again, “why do you wanna know, it’s nothing important” Jess rolled his eyes and checked his watch again.
6:20
“I’ve never even seen you come outside with a backpack, and I need to know if you’re stealing things again” Luke gave him an annoyed stare, Jess unzipped the the bag and showed the books in his backpacks.
“Oh” Luke muttered, and looked over to the side “happy? Cause I need to get going” he zipped the bag up again. “where have you been going?” Luke sighed, it was time he got the truth.
“why do you wanna know?” Jess rolled his eyes again, “because I gotta know these things” another sigh came out of Luke, and Jess mumbled something. It took a good few minutes to get him to admit.
“I’m goin to the library”
He said it quietly but at least it was coherent.
———
“You’re late” you smiled as Jess sat down in front of you, “I know, I’m sorry, Luke wouldn’t let me go until I told him where I was going and what I was bringing” he smiled back at you and took out his books. “well, you’re here now, that’s what matters to me, now what’s today? math?” You smiled again and the two of you started opening your books.
“Today is math day” jess nodded and started reading your math notes.
———
“Jess, in the library? Is he meeting behind it and doing something?” Lorelai drank her coffee, “I didn’t think about that” Luke said as he gave her a doughnut.
The moment very quickly ended when Jess came in and quickly went upstairs without saying a word, Luke and Lorelai could hear the thud from Jess’s backpack hitting the floor.
Jess came back down and grabbed a doughnut; pink icing. Very weird to the two adults in the diner. Unknowing to them the only reason he grabbed it was because you swore that the pink icing on the doughnuts taste different.
———
“So anything new and interesting happening?” You asked as you and Jess walked around after studying, it was the quickest you’ve ever studied but that was because it was English, all jess had to do was read and write some answers.
“no, but, if you call getting a new shipments for the diner interesting, than yes, there something new happening” he smiled at you, “sounds very interesting” you smiled back at him.
“what about you?” Jess turned to you again “what about me? Nothing” you shrugged “cmon there’s gotta be something that’s happened so far this week” Jess said, “there’s nothing, nothings happened, and im 100 percent sure nothings gonna happen” you smiled again at him.
He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and smiled “how about I give you something to look forward to then since you’re free” Jess’s brows perked up, “really? how?” your hand reached up and grabbed his that was on your shoulder.
“how bout you, me, and chinese food, and we can do it on, Friday? You said your parents are leaving on Friday right?” He smiled as you two got closer to Luke’s diner.
“yeah, my parents are going on Friday.. that sounds like a plan” you smiled “it’s a date” he smiled. “Cmon I’ll walk you home” he walked past the diner “thanks Jess” you wrapped your arm around his waist as the two of you continued you way down the street.
-
“Did I see that right?” Lorelai’s eyes were wide and her brows were furrowed, “wow” Luke said, it was the only thing that could be uttered at the moment as they had just seen; You and Jess walking together.
“That must be why he’s going to the library so much! y/n’s always at the library!” Her mouth hung open in shock, it was silent for a few moments “y’know what, this is good” like said as he nodded while drinking his coffee.
“This is good?” She looked at him confused, “yes, he’s doing good in school, and it seems like he really likes y/n, as long as he isn’t hurting her, or doing bad things than I’m happy about this” Luke smiled “I guess this is good..” Lorelai smiled back at him.

'Cause I love, to love, to love you
Pairing: Wednesday Addams x Fem!reader
Summary: Ever since Wednesday had been gifted a phone you decided to steal her phone to play a prank on her. But much to your surprise you see something unexpected on her phone.
Warnings: bad writing, some swearing
Words: 1.833k
A/N: i wrote this on my phone since my laptop is having a mental breakdown on me rn. not proof read since it's 3am and it's exam season lmao. sorryyy. also this is my first 'fic' post here. hope this isn't too bad lmao, enjoy:)
One of your absolute favourite hobbies, if it even counts as a hobby, is to "borrow" someone's phone for a few minutes and do something to the phone.
Whether it be quickly change their ringtone to something embarrassing, take a ungodly amount of selfies in thirty seconds, or even send yourself a message complimenting yourself or agreeing to do something stupid.
You always found an annoying trick to play. But you always had one that was your absolute favourite. A classic, some might say.
"Borrowing" someone's phone and changing their wallpaper to something incredibly stupid.
If you were lucky the persons phone would already have unattractive selfies they took as a joke, or a friend would send them one of themself that would automatically save to the phone.
You've done that over a thousand times to all of your friends and family members, and to you it never gets old.
Enid has always been the easiest victim because, one, her passcode is literally '2929', two, Enid always has a grip on her phone but in your or hers dorm room that grip instantly weakens and she always leaves her phone around the place.
The hardest victim to play this prank on is your girlfriend, Wednesday Addams.
Although the goth is not often using her actual device, she always makes sure to keep it close to her person.
The rare times you've managed to snag it while she's in the bathroom or during her writing time, if she isn't looking, for the life of you, you cannot guess her passcode.
Hers has to be much more complex than Enid's simple four digit passcode, since you've tried everything you could've thought of as a six digit passcode, yet to no avail.
You've tried birthdays, important dates to Wednesday, her favourite numbers, secret messages using numbers.
Nothing works.
You've been patiently waiting for the day to finally play the harmless prank on your girlfriend for weeks, and on a quiet Saturday night, it finally happened.
_____________________________________
Saturday had always been your favourite day, who doesn't think Saturday as the best day?
You especially loved Saturdays since the fact the following day follows is Sunday, a day with also no school. Which meant Wednesday was allowed to come over to your dorm room and stay over for the night.
The school had a rule where sleepovers weren't permitted unless it was on the weekend, something that annoyed you greatly, but it was better than nothing.
This particular Saturday you and Wednesday decided to have a simple day. Both of you wanted to have more of a relaxing day rather than one full of plans for once.
It was ten in the evening and you and Wednesday had just finished the first episode of Criminal Minds, a show that took you a while of begging to get Wednesday to actually agree to watch with you.
With a smile you turned your head to look at her, her head already turned to look at you.
"So, what did you think?" You asked eagerly, hoping the goth actually enjoyed one of your favourite shows.
She gave a blank expression as she answered the question. "It was tolerable at best." You grinned at the response; pride filling in you since in Wednesday language that meant she actually liked it.
"I knew you'd like it!" You had the urge to add 'I told you so' but you opted to leave that out. "Whose your favourite character?"
Wednesday's raises her brows slightly at that. "A favourite character? I've only seen a singular episode and don't have a good enough concept of each character's personality to answer that question." She replied in a monotone voice as she glanced back at the screen before back at you.
You stared at her in silence for a moment before a slight smirk replaced the grin on your face.
"It's Hotch isn't it?" Wednesday gives you an annoyed stare as she crosses her arms over stomach. "Just because you've watched this show a myriad of times doesn't make you a profiler." She grumbled, confirming the answer to your question.
You chuckled as you teasingly nudged your shoulder with hers. "I know. I just know my girlfriend so well."
The corners of Wednesday's lips quirked up for a moment before they returned to their normal straight line. "Don't get too cocky, Y/n."
You chuckle once again as you moved your hand to holds Wednesday's, knowing the simple display of affection was one she didn't mind much.
Your smile only grew when Wednesday didn't hesitate to interlock your hands.
"I wouldn't dream of it. But I do know when we watch season two you will definitely love Emily but say otherwise."
Wednesday let out a scoff at your words. "I only remember agreeing to watch one episode of this show, not an entire season."
You shrugged your shoulders before saying. "Fine, I guess I'll have to watch the next episode alone while you sleep then."
Her dark chocolate brown eyes narrowed the ever slightest at that, as if she was trying to profile you to see if you were lying or not.
You stated back with the same amount of intensity, using it as an excuse to admire your girlfriend's beauty.
Wednesday uncharacteristically broke the eye contact first as she let out an angry huff.
"Only one more episode then." You grin at her words, already knowing that meant there were a lot more episodes ahead of you two.
"But I need to empty my bladder first." She states before she let go of your hand to stab up. Once she was out of the bed and standing she gave you a menacing glare before saying. "Don't start the episode without me."
You nodded your head.
"Go piss girl." You said as you let out a small laugh at your own words, still finding the meme enjoyable.
Wednesday stared blankly at you for a few seconds before she turned around and headed towards the bathroom.
She never understood the joke no matter how many times you told her the meme.
Once you heard the shutting of the door you didn't hesitate to roll over to Wednesday's side and retrieve her phone.
Pressing on the screen her lock screen appeared, her lockscreen wallpaper simply being a black background.
Very Wednesday, you thought to yourself. Was the chances of you actually figuring Wednesday's password slim? Yes. Impossible? No.
You were determined to change the girl's wallpaper to something stupid at least once.
Swiping up the phone presented the password screen to you, the circular numbers taking up the entire screen.
Your thumb hovered over the numbers as you thought of what possibly could her password.
Your first guess was '233267' since under each number was one letter that in order spelt 'Addams'.
Much to your disappointment the phone vibrated as the password emptied, telling you that the password was incorrect.
Knowing you didn't have much time to waste you quickly thought of another password you hadn't tried before.
'782378' This time the letters under the numerals spelt Pubert, the name of Wednesday's youngest brother.
Once again the phone vibrated angrily, taunting you that you got it wrong once again.
You sighed as you glanced over at the bathroom door knowing Wednesday would walk through them any minute.
Accepting your defeat you decided to give one last attempt before giving up. This time you just mimicked Wednesday's blank expression as you entered a six digit passcode you hadn't tried before.
'111111' You rolled your eyes as you entered the final digit expecting to hear the vibration once again, especially due to the fact how simple the password was.
But to your surprise you didn't feel a vibration in your hand. Instead you heard nothing.
Your eyes snapped back towards the screen and to your utter delight and shock you were in Wednesday's phone.
You actually managed to guess her password!
(You decided to ignore the fact it was literally more hackable and easier to guess than Enid's passcode)
A smug smile appeared on your face as you straightened your posture, pushing yourself slightly up as your mind rushed with different things you could change her wallpaper to.
Your eyes glanced at her home screen and you fully expected her home screen to be the same as her lock screen.
But it wasn't.
Her wallpaper was a picture of you two on your first date.
You were not expecting that.
The picture itself was a selfie you took, your face closer to the camera with Wednesday sitting behind you. You had a wide smile on your face while Wednesday had her iconic death stare.
In the background of the photo was the gorgeous forest of Nevermore. It was where you had your first date with Wednesday.
Wednesday had prepared a picnic and mapped out the best spot in the forest where she apparently knew the two of you wouldn't be interrupted. It was truly magical.
The longer you stared at the home screen the harder you found it to go actually change the picture.
Suddenly, you heard the obnoxiously loud taps from behind the bathroom door, indicating Wednesday was going to come out any second.
You glanced at the door before back at her phone. Even if it was a few seconds before Wednesday emerged that was still plenty of time for you to change it.
You smiled slightly to yourself as you shut the phone off and placed it back to its orignal spot before shifting back to your side of the bed.
As expected the bathroom door opened a few moments later and silently Wednesday walked over to the bed and got in.
She skilfully sneaked under the blanket you two were sharing and entered your personal space before she turned her head to look at you.
"Are you going to put the continuing episode on or not?" She asked impatiently with a tilt of her head.
You didn't reply at first. Instead you leaned down to kiss Wednesday's cold lips.
The shorter girl took a second to notice what was happening before you felt her kiss you back, you couldn't help but smile against her lips at the feeling.
The kiss itself was brief but it still managed to take away your breath as Wednesday pulled away.
She looked up at you with the smallest tint of pink tainting her ears, something you so desperately wanted to comment on.
"Although that was pleasurable why did you kiss me?" You shrugged your shoulders weakly as your grabbed Wednesday's hand with your hand. "I just wanted to kiss you." You said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
The rare small smile slowly appeared on Wednesday's face as she turned to look at the TV screen at the foot of your bed. She shifted closer to you as she did so.
You pressed one final kiss to Wednesday's head before you grabbed the remote with your free hand and pressed play for the next episode.
Although your prank was a failure this time you didn't mind.

“You know I can hear you two,” Joel drawls from his spot by the window.
You and Ellie exchange wide eyed glances before erupting into hushed giggles.
“We’re just trying to have a few laughs,” you counter, raising an expectant brow.
Joel levels you with a look that says he’s not amused.
“Come on, one of these has to make that fucker laugh,” Ellie whispers as she turns the page of the book.
She points to a pun and covers her mouth.
“Hey Joel. I’ve got one for you,” Ellie starts. “Doesn’t matter how much you push the envelope…it’ll still be stationary.”
She lifts her eyes from the book and smiles at Joel. He narrows his eyes and purses his lips.
“Shit,” Ellie groans, but despite Joel’s grumpiness she still laughs.
“I’ve seen him smile before,” you tell Ellie. “We can get him to crack.”
She holds your gaze and her eyes soften. “He definitely smiles more since you’re around.”
You give her shoulder a soft bump and whisper a quiet “thanks.”
“Oh! What about this one,” she says excitedly.
“Hey Joel,” Ellie says, grabbing his attention again. “Why did the scarecrow get an award?”
Joel pushes off the wall with a grunt and slings the rifle over his back as he moves past you and Ellie and says, without looking back, “because he was outstanding in his field.”
“You dick. You read this didn’t you!” Ellie exclaims with a laugh.
You try to cover your snort but when Joel turns around with his deadpan expression it only makes you laugh harder.
“Gimme that,” you tell Ellie, reaching for the book. “I’m gonna find a really good one that has to make him laugh.”
After an hour of thumbing through it, your finger running over page after page, you finally find one that you don’t think he can resist. With a pep in your step you trot over to Joel, who is now sitting on the edge of an overturned cabinet, his arms crossed over his chest and an extra grumpy look on his face.
You slip in front of him and rest your hands on his thighs, eyeing Ellie over his shoulder with an assured look.
He remains still, his expression neutral as he holds your stare expectantly.
“Did you know diarrhea is hereditary?”
You ask the question with such sincerity that you see his resolve waiver, his features relaxing just for a moment.
Even so he doesn’t smile.
“What?” he replies.
“It runs in your genes.”
You crack a smile and can’t stop the laughter that escapes as you wait for his reaction.
“Jesus,” he mumbles as he drops his head with an exasperated shake.
Despite his grumbling his shoulders start to jump and it makes you laugh harder.
“That is so god damn stupid,” he says, keeping his face hidden.
“YOU LAUGHED YOU ASSHOLE!” you shout as you dance in front of him.
When he lifts his head you see his slight smirk just before he chuckles again, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers.
“HE’S LAUGHING!” you say again, catching Ellie’s eye.
She’s smiles widely before she exclaims, “gotcha fucker.”
He straightens up and puts his hands on his hips, ready to give both you and Ellie a snarky retort but you start to laugh harder, which causes him to do the same.
Without thinking you launch yourself at him and throw your arms around his neck.
With a light ‘oof’ he catches you and at first seems surprised, his body slightly tense, but when you don’t let go he tentatively closes his arms around your waist.
You squeeze him harder and he lowers his head to your neck, your name leaving his lips on a soft inhale.
When you finally pull away it’s only enough to slide down his body and look him in the eyes.
He’s lips are still turned up into a smirk.
“I like this look on you. Not that I mind the grumpiness…considering it’s almost all the time.”
His lips twitch and you can tell he’s fighting a bigger grin.
“You’re allowed to smile you know,” you tease.
“And you’re definitely allowed to kiss her,” Ellie chimes, suddenly standing beside you.
Joel’s eyes go wide and you can feel his fingers dig into your skin.
“Ellie,” you chide, but it comes out soft as you turn to give her a ‘what the fuck’ look.
“What? I’m not blind,” she says, her tone full of sass. “I see the way he looks at you when he doesn’t think you’re paying attention.”
You drag your eyes away from Ellie and find Joel staring at you.
“Ellie,” he says gruffly, his eyes still on you. “Why don’t you go take a quick look around.”
Ellie nods with a sly smile and grabs her gun.
“Don’t forget to…” Joel starts as he turns Ellie’s way but his mouth shuts quickly when she interrupts him.
“I’ll be quiet and check my six, find the high ground and look for tracks,” she says knowingly. “Don’t worry.”
She winks at Joel before smiling your way and turns on her heel, skipping out the door, clearly following Joel’s instructions.
Joel watches her for a moment before he slowly brings his eyes back to you.
“I really have to teach her to keep her mouth shut,” he murmurs.
“Don’t think that’s possible,” you answer, “and besides, I think she’s just what you need.”
He hums low in acknowledgement as he pulls you closer. “Might need a lil’ more than that darlin’.”
“And what might that be?” you ask him.
His eyes drop to your lips as he smooths one hand up your back. His free hand lifts to your face and he presses his fingers under your chin to tilt your head back.
He lets out an exhale, your name a whisper on his lips as he dips his head. He pauses for a moment, his mouth hovering just above yours and he smiles, and you smile back, before he leans in to kiss you.

Conception*
a/n: there’s no link or anything but I’m assuming you’re talking about the steve edit i posted LOLLLL
summary: Steve comes home from a high risk mission and decides he doesn’t want to wait any longer
warnings: smut, lil bit of angst, breeding kink, rough sex, dirty talk, creampie ofc, needy Steve, aftercare
word count: 2.6k
~
YN hums softly along to Video Games by Lana Del Ray, a look of concentration adorning her face as she puts the finishing touches on the dinner she’s prepared. She’s expecting Steve home sometime tomorrow morning so she fills a tupperware container full of half the delicious meal she made.
Her stomach grumbles in hunger as soon as she gets a whiff of the potatoes, steamed vegetables, and steak bites, her mouth practically watering in anticipation. Once she’s plated the other half for herself, she makes her way to the couch and sits down to enjoy.
A small smile forms on her face and she does a little happy dance as she quickly turns on her favorite show and digs in. She manages to finish almost the whole plate and sits it on the coffee table in front of her, pulling her legs up onto the couch to relax as she finishes up another episode.
When it’s over she finally forces herself up off the couch and to the kitchen to clean up the dishes she’s messed up, turning on some more music to keep her focused. Just as she’s finishing up, she hears the sound of her front door being opened and ultimately slammed shut. She apprehensively makes her way to the entrance of the kitchen and peeks her head out, relieved to see Steve standing in the living room, still in his uniform.
“You scared the shit out of me,” she chuckles, stepping into the room with him. Only then does she realize he’s literally panting as if he’d ran here from his mission, and she frowns as she begins to ask him what’s wrong.
Before she can even blink he’s got her pinned against their living room wall, his lips on hers. It takes her a moment but then she’s kissing him back with the same amount of aggression he gave her, and then he’s lifting her up until their hips are touching, immediately grinding against her.
The material of his suit is causing great friction, the fact that she’s wearing nothing but a pair of flimsy panties helping as well. They’re moaning into each other’s mouths, as they grind against one another, desperate to get off as quickly as possible.
They’re both lost in the bliss of their bodies on one another until Steve pulls away abruptly. “No,” he shakes his head. “Can’t take you right here, it’s not right. Have to go to the bed,” he says, but it’s more to himself than her, and she’s obliging and turning to leave. Until he grabs her arm and pulls her back to him, hoisting her up to his waist and pressing his lips to hers again. His hands move down to grip her ass cheeks as he begins the trek to their room, and he somehow manages to successfully tear the panties off of her with one hand, letting them fall to the floor as he walks.
As they finally make their way into the neat bedroom, he tosses YN onto the bed and she sees the literally feral look in his eyes, not concerned but curious as to what’s got him this way. Before she can ask him, he’s on her again, his hand reaching forward to palm her breasts, but she needs to make sure his head is in the right place before they move forward.
He’s a bit shocked when she rejects him, making him snap out of whatever daze he’d been in. “Steve. What’s going on with you?” she questions, a look of confusion on her face as she tries to think of what’s made him this way.
He looks at her for a beat as he reads her face, trying to figure out what the best way is to say this. A quick battle in his mind leads to him just coming right out and saying it. “I wanna have a baby,” he blurts, and YN’s eyes widen a fraction before going back to normal. For a moment it’s just silence, and he’s worried he’s done something wrong.
“Are you…sure about this?” she questions, choosing her words wisely. “I thought you weren’t ready,” she finishes. Her eyes wander over his face as she makes sure there’s nothing off with his demeanour, and sure enough, it’s the Steve she knows. But that doesn’t quell her confusion.
Steve is slightly offended by her question, his mood shifting just a bit. “What do you mean am I sure? Why else would I say this?” he scoffs, moving off of her to sit next to her. She sits up when he does, now a bit upset at his tone.
“Steve, just last month you told me you weren’t ready. You can’t be mad at me for wanting to be sure,” she reasons. Steve is confused for a moment until it all clicks.
~
One month earlier
YN and Steve both finally have a free day, deciding to spend it together. Instead of staying home, though, they opt for a day out on the town, hitting some shops and even stopping at a nearby bakery. In quiet bakery, they sit and indulge in their pastries and coffee as they make conversation about anything under the sun, until the sound of small cries catch their attention.
They both whip their heads over to the source and see a little baby boy no more than a few months old crying, and after a few moments of investigation they realize he’s dropped his binky out of the stroller. YN hops up and grabs it for the overwhelmed mother, tapping her on the shoulder as she’d been trying to console her son.
The woman is a little startled by YN’s presence but her eyes soften as she realizes what she’s holding, thanking YN for returning the binky back to her. “No problem, I couldn’t just leave it down there while you tried to find it or figure out where it was,” she explains, smiling softly. From there, the woman and YN go into a small conversation about her son, and YN’s heart just melts at how fondly the mother, whose name she found out was Harper, spoke of her son Jacob.
The two finish up their conversation with an exchange of numbers, and YN heads back to Steve with a pep in her step, sitting down with a smile. Almost immediately she goes into how cute Jacob was and everything she and the mother had talked about. In the midst of her rambling, she hadn’t noticed Steve had gotten quiet until now.
“I can’t wait to be a mom someday! Can you imagine a little me or a little you running around one day?” she asked, still smiling brightly. The smile was quickly wiped from her face when Steve didn’t answer her, but stood up and announced he was ready to go home. Her frown deepens at that, and she quietly gathers her things and they start the trek home, walking in silence beside one another as YN keeps herself from breaking down on the middle of the sidewalk.
They arrive home after what felt like an eternity to her, and she speeds to the bathroom and closes the door behind her, turning on the shower before letting herself begin to cry. She thought she’d been discreet with her sobs, but not long after she hears the bathroom door open and she silences herself. Through the foggy glass of the shower she can see Steve begin to strip down before he’s climbing in with her. Her back is to him but he already knows what’s happening so he turns her to him and pulls her into his chest.
The sobs start up again immediately, now with no restraint as she doesn’t need to hide from him anymore. He’s soothing her silently, rubbing his hand up and down her back and hasn’t stopped scolding himself for the way he reacted. “I’m so sorry,” he whispers once her cries quiet to small sniffles.
She shakes her head against him and he frowns, leaning back to get a good look at her face as she begins to speak. “No, I’m sorry,” she starts, and he’s about to say something but she stops him. “I jumped the gun, I shouldn’t have put so much pressure on you so early. I know we’ve only been married for two months and-,” she’s cut off by the feeling of his lips on hers, silencing her rambling.
“Baby,” he whispers, even more guilty now that she feels it’s her fault. “Stop that right now. This is not your fault, it’s mine. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did,” he firmly tells her, making sure she doesn’t believe she’s at fault. “You did nothing wrong. It’s just…I think I need a little bit more time. My life is so crazy and I want to be invested fully,” he explains.
“I should have expressed that, and I want you to know that as soon as I am ready you will be the first to know,” he finishes.
“I know and I’m sorry. We definitely need more time with just us,” she responds, her worries not completely leaving but staying in the back of her mind for the time being.
~
Now
“The mission I was just on…we were outnumbered,” he starts, taking her hands in his. “We almost died. And all I could think about as we were fighting as you. How you were here waiting for me to come home. I thought about coming home to you and our kids, the way I know you’d love them the way you love me, and I don’t want to die without getting to experience that with you,” he explains, and she’s listening intently as she takes in his words
“It’s just… I don’t want you to regret this later. I’d rather not be pregnant or a mother alone or have you resent me because I rushed you into this,” she explains to him, expressing her worries.
He was a little hurt by her words but he understands where she’s coming from, frowning as he sees the tears falling from her eyes. Reaching up he thumbs them away before speaking again. “I know, baby. And I’m so sorry I made you feel that way. I would never,” he starts, pausing to think over his next words.
“I’ve taken a break from saving the world for a bit. They’ve got it under control,” he smiles, pulling her in again as she cries harder at his revelation. “All I could think about while I was in there was us and our family, how happy we could be together. There’s nothing I want more,” he finishes, his little speech making her heart melt.
She scans his face for any sign of regret and when she finds none, she’s all in. He can see her eyes change almost immediately, and she’s taking her shirt off before throwing it somewhere in the room. “Well if you’re ready, why don’t we get to it?” she questions, and there’s no hesitation. He’s up and stripping so fast she has no time to comprehend it. The moment he’s naked he finally looks up at her to see her with her legs spread, a hand in between them.
Thinking back on that day now, he can’t believe he even thought like that. All he can imagine now is the fact that he’s about to get his own personal slice of heaven, manhandling YN until she’s on her hands and knees in front of him. To provide himself with even more access to his favourite place he just reaches forward and pushes on her back until her face is buried in the duvet.
Seeing her all dripping and clenching around nothing sends the last bit of his restraint practically bleeding from his body as he takes his cock in his hand and strokes it a few times. YN wants to look back and see what he’s doing but she knows better, staying where he’s placed her.
“Can’t believe this is all for me,” he chokes, rubbing his thumb over the leaking, throbbing tip of himself. It’s only a few more seconds of his filthy moans and grumbling under his breath about how beautiful she looks before she’s inhaling sharply at the feeling of him parting her lips with his thumb and spitting filthily right where she needs him, her weepy hole clenching around nothing in anticipation.
“Please,” she begs, and Steve, never being one to deny her when she looks and sounds so pretty for him, obliges almost instantly. Not even a seconds later he’s gently gripping the base of his aching cock and parts her lips with the head, running it through to lubricate himself before he’s got the tip nudged at her entrance.
The sound it makes when he finally sinks himself into her is nothing short of obscene, a wet squelching sound accompanying the both of their moans of relief. He can barely contain himself when he immediately begins to thrust in and out of her, his body seemingly moving on its own to take what they both need.
“Fuck, I can’t wait to see you pregnant,” he grunts, his thrusts getting harder as his thoughts get dirtier. “Gonna keep you so full of my cum at all times to make sure it sticks. God, I can imagine it now. How beautiful you’ll look round and full of our kids,” he continues, and the way he used it in plural form doesn’t get lost on YN, her loud moans of pleasure being muffled slightly by the sheets.
Steve, always being one to want to hear what he’s doing to her, reaches forward and grabs a fistful of her hair and pulls her up until he can hear her loud and clear. He can feel her legs start to shake and give out beneath her but he’s holding all of her weight up, fucking her as if his life depends on it, and to him it does. “You like the sound of that?” he asks, not slowing his punishing pace.
She can barely nod with the grip he has on her hair but she manages to, choking out a plea for him to do exactly that. “You wanna be so full of my cum at all times that you’re leaking down your legs, exhausted from how many times I work you on my cock?” he grits out through clenched teeth, trying to stave off his impending orgasm in an attempt to wait for hers.
No more words can leave her lips, just cries and sobs of pleasure as he’s drills so deep inside of her she can barely breathe. I mean he has to be puncturing her lungs at this point. Her orgasm is coming and it’s coming fast, but of course she can’t warn Steve, speechless. He knows her inside and out, though, and doesn’t need a warning to know what’s coming. (double pun is crazy)
“I know, don’t have to tell me. I can feel how tight you’re squeezing my cock. Go on, soak me, show me how much you want to be full of me and I’ll do just that,” he demands, and YN, always the obedient one, cums instantaneously. Her orgasm makes his hips stutter immediately as she locks down on him so tight, her body so tense that he can’t move. He lets go of her hair in a split decision, and he’s glad he did. He uses that same hand to reach around and rub at her clit quickly, making her tense up even tighter before relaxing entirely as she squirts all over the bed sheets below them, Steve praising her throughout the entire time.
Her orgasm sends him flying over the edge with a loud swear, his hips flush against hers as he floods her with his warm cum. It seems like it lasts for forever, his balls seeming to get fuller the more he cums. When he’s finally drained of all he has he stays buried inside of her for warmth for a while before he’s pulling out slowly and just sitting there and watching his cum start to drip from her.
He helps her fully lie down on her stomach before he’s getting off the bed, shushing her whines of protest. “Just gonna get you cleaned up, gonna be right back,” he coos, running a hand on her back to ground her a bit more so he can leave. She gives him a weak nod and then he’s hurrying out of the room to get a wet washcloth for her.
The process of cleaning her up is a bit rough with how sensitive she is but he makes it work, cleaning her up quickly and throughly before cleaning himself. He then helps her to the bathroom to pee, her body very weak but he knows she needs to do so.
When she’s all done they end up going into the guest room and sleeping there instead of sleeping on their soaked bed, Steve making a mental note to clean up first thing in the morning, he’s way too exhausted right now. When in the room, he helps her get all comfortable and tucked in before turning off the light and climbing in as well, pulling her into his embrace. The both of them start to doze immediately, and within a few minutes they’re both out, soft snores filling the room.

Summary of some answers from today's Q&A with Ron Corcillo!
(July 29, 2023)
Bullet points are below the cut, since it's a pretty long list! Some combine multiple answers, and they're categorized for ease of reading (obviously not every single answer is included, but I tried to get most of the ones I thought people might find interesting!)
Apocalyptic Future
The turtles were fighting side by side with Cassandra when Casey Jr was born, and Leo trained him to be a warrior. Casey Jr only has brief memories of his mother from when he was very young, and he was mostly raised by Leo.
The chips on Leo's plastron are probably battle scars.
Mikey was likely the equivalent of being in his 70's. He was powerful enough that he could unlock almost any mystic ability you could think of, but using them took a toll on him physically. The more powerful the ninpo, the more potential it has to sap your energy.
Mikey can open up portals through all of space and time (as opposed to Leo, who can mostly portal over relatively short distances), but it took him a long time to get to that level of ability.
Mikey probably grew a little taller than seen in the movie, but shrank as the use of his powers depleted him. Donnie would be slightly taller than Leo, and Raph would be at least 6'6".
The characters have obviously taken hits and lost some things from years of fighting the Krang, but Leo still does have his ninpo.
They never worked out the specifics for how Raph and Donnie died, just that they lost their lives in the war against the Krang.
Future Leo was mortally wounded in his bleeding side, and that was why he didn't go with Casey to the past.
If season 2 hadn't been cut short
The sudden declaration of Leo as leader wouldn't have happened, and was more of a joke because of how abruptly the show ended. The original plan was for the transition to be drawn out over much of season 3. Raph and Leo probably would have been co-leaders for a while, and the transfer of leadership wouldn't have caused tension since Raph would like to share the burden. There might have been some situations where Mikey or Donnie took the lead, too. Ron never saw the turtles as a group where there had to be one absolute leader.
Karai would have lived for much longer, and been training the boys in person for a number of episodes.
If there was a season 3 / plans they had for future seasons
They probably wouldn't have ever taken a dark turn with the show, but may have gotten into more of an extended plot line after the movie.
The missing sister who was Big Mama's henchperson would probably have been a very disciplined super serious ninja, to the point where she's actually funny. She was going to be named after a female artist, possibly Frida Kahlo, and the turtles would have had to win her back from Big Mama by helping her to see that she had been brainwashed as a child.
Their other missing sister was going to be trapped in another dimension for years, and might have been "a little kooky" from being there so long. The turtles would have split up to rescue their sisters, but there were no definite plans beyond that.
We would definitely see Casey Jr again. Ron would love to see a spin-off where Casey and Cassandra roam the world and fight the Krang and remnants of the Foot.
It was going to be revealed that a Krang spaceship had crashed into the back of the crying titan in the Hidden City. The ship's fuel was the source of the ooze that gives the Yokai their power, and possibly the origin of the Yokai themselves. The crashed spaceship is what drew the invasion there a thousand years ago.
Mikey's powers could have opened the door to some multiverse episodes.
We might have seen some redemption from Big Mama, but then also seen her relapse to her villainous ways.
The Rat King likely would have been the next big villain. Shredder's story is pretty resolved, so they wouldn't have gone back to him, but maybe they could have revived the dark armor. There were no existing plans for Bishop, but once the turtles became better known heroes, he could be a thorn in their side. They would have done a lot more with the Krang.
Donnie probably thinks he's much smarter than Raph, so it would have been fun to do an episode where he got to see how Raph beats him in common sense and emotional intelligence.
The turtles would probably talk to Karai's Hamato spirit when they need guidance.
Season 3 would pick up where the movie left off. They would have launched a new story right away, but the aftermath would have been in the background. We would have seen how they changed as a result of the movie events, as well as how they deal with now being in the public eye as heroes.
Miscellaneous
The 2012 series was very traditional TMNT, so a big goal of Rise was to mix things up. Making Raph the leader opened up a lot of possibilities for both Leo and Raph: Raph didn't have to be angry all the time about not being the leader, and Leo was free to be cocky and fun-loving. It was a breath of fresh air for writers who had done previous TMNT versions.
As for how the turtles take after Yoshi: Donnie got a lot of his cockiness from him, as did Leo. Mikey senses that Yoshi misses his family, and that's part of the reason he always tries to hold the family together. Raph got his courage and sense of duty from him.
For Halloween, Raph would be a kitten, Mikey would be a lion, Leo would be a rock star, and Donnie would be J. Robert Oppenheimer.
Raph's favorite music is R&B, Leo's is glam rock, Donnie's is techno, and Mikey likes boy bands.
When asked about the turtles "favorite" brothers (obviously they all love each other): Mikey is Raph's favorite. As much as Leo gives Donnie a hard time, he really likes him. Ultimately, the three younger brothers all really look up to Raph.
The turtles all had their mystic powers inherently, but they didn't know it and couldn't unlock them without a little boost. Their mystic weapons acted as a conduit.
Splinter has a lot of power that hasn't been revealed, and there's a good chance he can do anything the boys can do if he really tries (which is how he could use Leo's portals). Their powers all would have grown and expanded over time.
Ron really likes fanart of the turtles, Splinter, and April in emotional family situations, as that is the heart of the show.
They didn't really get into romance in the show, but fans are free to use their imagination.
Hueso would never admit it, but he and Leo do have a close friendship.
While Ron doesn't think the show will be brought back any time soon since Nick's focus is on Mutant Mayhem (which he thinks Rise fans will enjoy, since they seem to have a lot in common), he does think it could be brought back further down the road. The most helpful thing is fans' continued support through watching, posting, and spreading the word!

DIABOLIK LOVERS Haunted Dark Bridal Anime DVD, Official Online Shop Tokuten CD ☽ Episode 0
Original title: Episode 0 Voiced by Midorikawa Hikaru (Ayato), Toriumi Kōsuke (Shuu), Konishi Katsuyuki (Reiji), Kaji Yūki (Kanato), Hirakawa Daisuke (Laito), Kondō Takashi (Subaru) English translation by @otomehonyaku Click here for the audio (special thanks to @uzi-boozii for providing the audio!)
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
SUMMARY | As the title of the CD suggests, this drama can be seen as a '0th episode' in the first season of the Diabolik Lovers anime. The setting is a night of incessant rain unlike any other, and even through the rain clouds, the full moon is unusually bright. Eerie, even. It leaves the Sakamaki brothers feeling uneasy as their monthly family banquet approaches. The family discusses if this abnormal weather could be a sign of things to come... Happy reading and listening along, friends!
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
[The scene starts in Reiji’s laboratory.]
00:00 Reiji: Good grief, what a downpour… And precisely on the night of our monthly banquet. That’s harsh. I wonder if Father predicted this. Heh.
[Reiji walks into the dining room and toward his familiars who are busy setting the table.]
Reiji: Oh, no. We won’t be using that tableware tonight. Use this instead. It will compliment the food better. Hm? The moonlight is peeking in through the window…
[Reiji decides to check on the weather and opens the door.]
Reiji: It’s still raining. However, the moonlight is so strong, even through those rainclouds… What will happen on a night like this? Something is coming…
[Reiji closes the door again.]
Reiji: Hm. I wonder whether our banquet will be able to begin on time.
[A crow screeches in the distance.]
Reiji: Well, I suppose that’s impossible.
[The scene shifts to Reiji walking into the Sakamaki manor’s library. There, he finds Laito.]
Reiji: So you’re here, Laito.
Laito: Oh, Reiji. It’s rare for you to come looking for me. Do you need something?
Reiji: It’s rather rare for you to be here, reading a book.
[Laito snaps his book shut.]
Laito: I do read books, you know. Especially on nights like these. If I don’t, I won’t be able to control my impulses. Ah… If only the school would revert my suspension…
02:12 Reiji: Even if they did, you would be suspended again in no time at all if you keep acting that way.
Laito: Huh? But it can’t be helped, can it? I don’t like suppressing my urges. I’d rather live by my instincts.
Reiji: Nevertheless, it would cause me just as much trouble to keep you locked in here. You seem to be forgetting something.
Laito: About what?
Reiji: I took the trouble to come all this way to see you, so would you not be able to guess?
Laito: Hmm… Ah, I see. It’s that time of the month again. It’d be great if we could take a field trip somewhere…
Reiji: I have said this many times already, but this is Father’s order. His word is final. Come downstairs within 10 minutes. That is all.
Laito: You’re so uptight.
Reiji: About what?
Laito: It’s not like he’s watching, anyway.
Reiji: What an insult to your father.
Laito: Well, it’s got nothing to do with me. Hey, are you going to go get Ayato and Kanato as well?
Reiji: I cannot count on you to do that, so…
Laito: Well, I’ll do you a favour and get them for you, then. Hehe.
Reiji: Well, then. If you please.
Laito: Gotcha. Leave it to me!
Reiji: You say that you will look for your brothers, but if I catch you running away instead, I will show no mercy.
Laito: I know, I know. You’d chase me into the depths of hell, Reiji.
04:06Reiji: That is a rather unpleasant way of putting it. However, if you understand—good. Well, then. I shall go fetch Subaru.
[Reiji leaves the room. The scene then shifts to the nearby lake, where Laito finds Ayato.]
Laito: So you were here after all, Ayato. Did you come to stare at the lake?
Ayato: What?
Laito: Reiji is looking for you.
Ayato: Reiji? Why?
Laito: It’s that time of the month again.
Ayato: Ah. Time for that useless banquet?
Laito: Yeah, that’s it. Well, let’s get going. Reiji’ll be annoying as hell if we’re late.
Ayato: Tch. Shit sucks. Laito. How’d you know I was here anyway?
Laito: I just know. I thought you’d be in a spot you usually don’t go to when it’s rainy. You don’t like lakes, right?
[Ayato throws a skipping stone across the water. ]
Ayato: Shut up. I just don’t like lakes… or rain.
Laito: So? Do you feel comforted being here?
Ayato: Huh? Why would I? I can’t calm down on days like these. I’d rather be here than anywhere else.
Laito: Hmm… So even you think that way, Ayato.
Ayato: Laito. Are you pickin’ a fight with Yours Truly?
Laito: No, not at all. I just thought it’s unusual for you. It’s actually quite refreshing. I like it.
Ayato: Tch. Don’t say such stupid things.
Laito: Still… It’s a pretty strange night, isn’t it? It’s raining cats and dogs, and yet the moon is shining brightly.
Ayato: What?
06:08 Laito: I mean, it’s almost like a glaring, fiery-eyed beast. I wonder if the moon is chastising us for some reason.
Ayato: Who knows.
Laito: Something’s going to happen. Something we’ve been avoiding for a while now. Hm? What’s up, Ayato? Did you perhaps sense something too?
Ayato: Nothing in particular.
Laito: Why are you lying? You felt it, didn’t you?
Ayato: It’s nothin’! Besides, what ‘something’ are you even talkin’ about?
Laito: The next time it rains as heavy as tonight again, something will happen. Very soon.
Ayato: Hm.
Laito: Well, we won’t know until it happens, though! Hey, Ayato. Come with me.
Ayato: What? Where?
Laito: To go get Kanato.
Ayato: Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Kanato around today.
Laito: He’s probably at that place.
Ayato: What place?
Laito: The one place where he can relax. His wax doll museum.
Ayato: Ugh. That’s such a boring spot. Well, fuck it. I’ll go. Let’s hurry ‘n go get him. I don’t want it to be the two of us versus Reiji.
[The scene shifts to Ayato and Laito walking into Kanato’s wax doll museum.]
Ayato: Yo, Kanato. You here?
Kanato: At least knock when you come in. Don’t you think it’s impolite to my girls to barge in so rudely?
Right, Teddy?
Laito: Ah, so you’re here. Sorry for forgetting to knock, Kanato.
Ayato: What’s so fun about being surrounded by a bunch of wax dolls? I don’t get it.
Kanato: A bunch of wax dolls? You clearly don’t understand the beauty of these girls whose lives have been preserved for all eternity. How utterly foolish.
08:23 Ayato: What? I was only askin’, though.
What’re you gettin’ your panties in a twist about?
Laito: Well, seems like Kanato isn’t in the best mood tonight either.
Ayato: Yours Truly’s feelin’ just fine.
Kanato: I’m not particularly ill-humoured. It’s just that… When I look at the moon, I get this feeling that something’s about to change.
Laito: Oh, so you’re feeling it too, Kanato?
Kanato: Yes. I can’t quite put my finger on it, though.
Ayato: Stop spouting bullshit. What’s about to change?
Kanato: Hehe.
Ayato: Kanato! The fuck’re you laughin’ about?
Kanato: Hehe. Ayato, are you anxious? You seem awfully reluctant to accept new things.
Ayato: The fuck?
Laito: Ah, Kanato—I did come here with a message to you from Reiji…
Kanato: I’m busy. I haven’t got time for something as frivolous as a banquet.
Laito: Aw, so you knew already. Well, then. Come with us.
Kanato: I’m not coming.
Laito: That won’t do. Reiji seemed pretty serious.
Ayato: We’ll be in trouble if one of us is missin’. Come on, Kanato.
Kanato: I told you, I’m not coming! Why don’t you understand what I’m saying? You’re all just taking pleasure in bullying me, trying to coerce me into doing your bidding…
Laito: It’s not like we actually want to go, either. Right, Ayato?
10:12 Ayato: Yeah, ‘course. Who would ever go to that shit willingly?
Laito: Listen. We’re all in the same boat, Kanato. So let’s go together.
Kanato: But I…
Laito: You remember what happened last time you didn’t come when Reiji called you, right?
Kanato: He truly likes bothering us with useless activities. Right, Teddy?
[The scene shifts to Reiji knocking on the door to Subaru’s room.]
Reiji: Subaru.
[Reiji enters Subaru’s room.]
Reiji: He’s inside his coffin again.
[The coffin suddenly flies open and Subaru comes at Reiji with a knife, thinking him an intruder.]
Subaru: Reiji?
Reiji: If you know it’s me, then drop that silver knife immediately. Good grief…
[Subaru drops the knife.]
Reiji: This is quite a greeting, even though I went through all this trouble to come get you.
Subaru: I had that dream again… Fuck!
Reiji: Not even an apology? You are a lost cause.
Subaru: Shut up! You’re the one who came in here unannounced! I can do whatever the fuck I want. Why’d you come in while I was sleeping?
Reiji: I came here for a reason.
Subaru: Huh?
Reiji: There can only be one reason why I come to find you here once a month. Even somebody so feeble-minded such as you should be able to know what it is.
Subaru: Ah, so it’s time for that stupid fuckin’ banquet again.
Reiji: It is far from stupid, actually.
Subaru: Hah.
11:58 Reiji: I should be punishing you for brandishing a knife at me, but today is the day of the banquet. I shall pardon you. I implore you to be careful, though. It is your obligation to be present at the banquet. Understood?
[Reiji leaves the room.]
Subaru: ‘Pardon,’ he says? Bullshit!
[Subaru throws something across the room and accidentally breaks a window.]
Subaru: Oh, shit. Why’s the moon like that? Is something gonna happen?
[Subaru tries to get himself together. The scene shifts to the banquet, five brothers now present.]
Reiji: Now, let us open the banquet.
Subaru: Hey, Shuu’s not here, though.
Reiji: There is no need to wait for someone who has forgotten about the banquet. We can do without his presence. There is no reason for him to be here to begin with.
Laito: I saw him in the hallway and called out to him, at least.
Ayato: Did he answer?
Laito: Nope, no reaction as usual.
Reiji: He will not come even if you call out to him. We do not need that good-for-nothing.
Kanato: Ah… We should’ve pretended not to hear him too, Teddy.
Reiji: That will not do, Kanato.
Kanato: Why?
Reiji: Because you have a different kind of importance to the Sakamaki family.
Laito: I see. So does that mean you don’t need me here, either?
Ayato: Great, you won’t need me, either.
Subaru: Then I’m leavin’, too.
Kanato: That’s mean! Is there something wrong with just me?
Reiji: Wait. None of your importance to the Sakamaki family has changed. However, I am merely saying that that good-for-nothing is worthless.
14:00 Ayato: Huh. So it’s only fine if Shuu’s not here?
Reiji: Exactly. Let us now quit this foolish conversation and eat dinner.
[The door opens and Shuu joins the others in the dining room after all.]
Laito: Ah, Shuu! You’re late.
Kanato: It seems like you still heard what Laito had to say, despite the fact that you were listening to music.
Shuu: Hm? Did you say something?
Ayato: Anyway, Shuu… It’s kinda surprising that you came to this banquet all by yourself.
Shuu: Banquet…? Oh, right.
Subaru: Isn’t that what you came here for?
Shuu: I just thought I’d be able to sleep in peace here.
Laito: Huh?! So this is just a misunderstanding?
Shuu: What a bother.
[Shuu grudgingly sits down at the dinner table.]
Reiji: You truly have no manners, barging in here and sitting down without so much as a greeting. I am flabbergasted.
Shuu: I’m here, so it’s fine, right?
Reiji: The end result matters none. I am merely finding fault in my family. Well, it would be a waste of time to continue this any longer. Let us begin the banquet.
[The brothers start eating.]
Ayato: Pasta again? Why’re we eatin’ this shit?
Reiji: Ayato. No talking while eating. Mind your manners.
Ayato: Reiji, make us somethin’ we actually like to eat!
Laito: Yeah. You’re the only one who likes pasta carbonara, Reiji.
Ayato: I want takoyaki!
Kanato: I agree with Ayato. Make me something nice for banquets like this, too. It’s unfair that Reiji is always the one to compile the menu.
16:04 Ayato: Right? Let us pick some stuff, too!
Reiji: I thought you all had no desire to participate in the banquet? I suggest you stop complaining. No matter what we eat, it all tends to taste the same to us, anyway. After all, human food does not nourish us.
Ayato: Well? We can pretty much eat anythin’, right?
Reiji: However, this banquet is a serious matter. This is not the time to eat takoyaki.
Ayato: It ain’t that different from pasta, though. It’s all flour-based.
Laito: There we go again. You’ve been pointlessly complaining about the menu for a while now. It’s getting out of hand, don’t you think? And then Kanato takes out a bunch of candy, Subaru finishes eating and leaves without a word… You know how it goes.
Ayato: It can’t be helped, right? It’s already a stupid fuckin’ banquet and then we don’t even get any satisfyin’ foods.
Reiji: Well, then. Do you have any substantial suggestions on how to host a proper banquet?
Subaru: Yeah. Don’t host one.
Reiji: We have been over this many times, Subaru. It is Father who orders us to have these banquets. We will not go against his word. As it is imperative that we continue holding these banquets, I ask you whether you could make suggestions on how to make it worthwhile.
Subaru: This sucks.
Reiji: Anyone else?
Laito: As for me, I’d like to discuss what the most delicious blood we’ve ever tasted was like for each of us. We don’t really talk about that sort of stuff, do we? It might be fun!
Ayato: Huh? I never remember shit like that.
Kanato: Teddy says he doesn’t remember, either.
Laito: And Subaru?
Subaru: Tch. Like hell I know.
Shuu: Wouldn’t you let someone with such delicious blood actually live?
Ayato: Right! Whoever pleases me that much becomes Yours Truly’s possession. Besides, you’re the only one who’s havin’ fun talkin’ ‘bout this, Laito.
Laito: Huh? I, for one, perfectly remember where and how I sucked the most—
18:21 Reiji: Hold on, Laito. I know I am interrupting the conversation, but we are having dinner. Please refrain from such vulgar topics.
Laito: Oh? Is that bad?
Reiji: It is.
Laito: I really thought it’d be fun. Why don’t we hold a review session, properly including everyone’s opinions?
Reiji: A review session? A splendid idea indeed. The lot of you could use some self-reflection, after all. It would definitely be useful if you reflect upon the faults I point out in you and try to better yourselves. Subaru? It is bad manners to make so much sound. Why don’t you join the conversation?
Subaru: Tch. I don’t wanna. I don’t care about your conversation. I figured eating would be better than actually listening to your bullshit. I don’t have anything to reflect on to begin with.
Reiji: I am telling you to reflect upon that exact behaviour.
Subaru: Shut up! I can do whatever the hell I want.
Shuu (who hasn’t been paying attention): Ah, you’re still at it?
Reiji: Be quiet, Shuu. It seems all of you have more than enough faults to reflect upon.
Laito: This is a little different from what I was going for, but… how about you, Ayato?
Ayato: I ain’t got shit to reflect on, because I’m always perfect.
Kanato: Hehe. Are you, now? Ayato has more faults than I can count. Haha, Teddy thinks so, too.
20:15 Ayato: Ah? The fuck you sayin’?
Shuu: Well, I guess he could do something about his simple-mindedness.
Ayato: Shuu, too? You motherfucker— You should all start self-reflectin’!
Kanato: I have absolutely nothing to reflect upon. Laito’s the one who came up with this idea, so how about him?
Laito: Huh? You could probably think of something, Kanato. You always turn your prey into wax dolls right away, after all.
Kanato: And what exactly is wrong with that?
Subaru: Fuck. He’s actually being serious.
Laito: If turning someone into a wax doll is considered okay, then I definitely don’t have any self-reflection to do, either.
Reiji: No, Laito. I assure you have plenty of faults. You were suspended for a reason. Reflect upon that.
Shuu: Yeah. You definitely cause too much trouble. I, of all people, should know. Fuck, you’re a bother.
Laito: I’m only living by my instincts! It gets the blood flowing. I like that feeling. And what you’re referring to did take place during a full moon, by the way. I just can’t suppress my instincts during a full moon! Hehe.
Reiji: No, it was excessive. There is such a thing as cleaning up afterwards. To think that even such lowly humans at the academy would suspend you… You bring shame upon the Sakamaki family. Repent.
Kanato: I, for one, am able to finish without leaving a trace and properly dispose of the leftovers. Teddy helps me. Don’t you, Teddy?
22:02 Laito: No, I did it properly! It was just… kind of bad timing…
[Subaru slams a fist on the table.]
Subaru: That’s exactly why we’re telling you to reflect! You’re inconveniencing us!
Laito: Ah, even Subaru is angry with me! Well, I got caught, so it doesn’t matter, does it? Nothing I say could change that. Wouldn’t it be more fun to talk about what you’ll get angry at me for in the future?
Reiji: What are you saying?
Laito: You saw the moon tonight, right? It really does feel like something’s about to happen. Kanato felt it too.
Kanato: I think it left a stronger impression on Ayato than on me, though. Right, Teddy?
Ayato: You’re being way too persistent. I told you, I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about!
Kanato: But that’s why you’re anxious, right? What do you think will happen, Ayato?
Laito: Subaru is even more irritated than usual, so he’s probably feeling it too.
Subaru: What? Who’s irritated now, huh?
[Subaru gets up and punches a wall.]
Ayato: Subaru! Don’t go poundin’ the wall again!
Reiji: Stop it right there, everyone. You are all making baseless claims at this point, so it cannot be helped. Hurry up and clear the table. The banquet is over.
Laito: What? Don’t you like it, Reiji?
Reiji: It is no matter of liking or disliking. I merely think that conversations like these are a waste of time.
It is pointless to spend time feeling sorry that you were suspended from school if you do not understand the reason why.
Laito: Come on, stop the talk about my suspension! What about you, Shuu?
Shuu: I wonder.
Reiji: What would a good-for-nothing like you know?
Laito: So then you’re feeling something too, Reiji?
24:03 Reiji: It has nothing to do with me. However, there is no way this waste of space would be able to pick up on such subtleties.
Shuu: Ah, now that you mention it…
Reiji: There he goes.
Shuu: No, I’ve been thinking I should probably tell you all something…
[Subaru hastily tries to finish his meal]
Reiji: Subaru! Use the tableware with care!
Subaru: Shut up! We’ll be done when the table’s clear, right? I figured I’d clear my plate first. The fuck are you complaining about?
Laito: Hey, everyone. You should know why I’m being persistent about this. We’ve seen such heavy rain combined with such a bright moon before. Right, Ayato?
Ayato: What? Oh, you mean back then. You’re beatin’ around the bush.
Laito: Besides, Shuu—you said you’d seen Uncle recently, didn’t you?
Subaru: Uncle… Richter was here?
Shuu: I think I saw him near the lake.
Subaru: He hasn’t visited us in a while. Why would he be here? Shuu, did you get to talk with him?
Shuu: Talk with him? No, I only saw him. I’d only just woken up, so I don’t remember it very well.
Reiji: You truly are worthless. Sometimes I even wonder why you are undead (1) at all. Well, then. I propose we end this meeting.
Laito: Why are you trying to avoid this conversation, Reiji? Uncle was here. Last time the moon was like this, he was here as well…
Reiji: I only care about the truth. If nothing is happening yet, there is no use in talking about it. However… judging from your current discussion, you consider the fact that the moon was somehow bright enough to shine through the rain and that Uncle just so happened to appear as an omen. I merely think that line of thought is absolutely ridiculous.
26:16 Kanato: Hehe. Reiji seems pretty afraid of something happening, Teddy.
Reiji: As I said earlier, I only care about the truth. I most certainly am not scared.
Ayato: Figures. You’re all a bit too carefree.
Kanato: Carefree? You’re the last person I’d like to call me that. Especially since you’re so lacking in mental capacity that “I’m the best” is all your brain knows how to say.
Ayato: Hey, Kanato. You’ve really been pissin’ me off.
Laito: Whoa, now. Calm down, you two. Don’t you think the heavy rain and the moon are the cause of all of this bickering?
Shuu: As far as I know, it's always like this.
Laito: I feel like it’s a little different this time, though.
Subaru: What? What’s different? They’re always picking fights with one another for no reason. It’s stupid.
[Subaru pushes back his chair and storms off.]
Subaru: I’m done eating. I’m going back to my room.
Kanato: Subaru doesn’t seem to like to talk about these kinds of things, either. Are you so afraid of change?
Subaru: Shut the fuck up!
[Subaru punches the wall again, sending parts of it crumbling to the floor.]
Subaru: No matter how big the change, I’m not afraid. Even if this mansion is swallowed by the lake, if it’s burned to the ground, I don’t care. Maybe it’s even better off just reduced to ash.
[Subaru leaves the room.]
Kanato: Teddy, it’s quite funny that Subaru’s more nervous than usual, isn’t it? Hehe.
Reiji: Well, then. Subaru has left, and this is becoming quite the argument. I declare this meeting over.
28:09 Laito: I wanted to hear what you had to say, though, Reiji.
Reiji: Laito… Make fun of me all you want, but your will lose your ground eventually.
[Reiji gets up.]
Reiji: Well, I shall be returning to my laboratory now.
[Reiji leaves the room.]
Laito: Ah… I ended up getting scolded in the end.
[Shuu gets up as well.]
Laito: Oh, Shuu, are you leaving too?
Shuu: Well, it looks like this troublesome dinner is over. I’m tired.
[Shuu walks off and leaves the room. Ayato gets up as well.]
Ayato: Ah—I could really go for some delicious blood on days like this.
Laito: You too, Ayato? Let’s head out together later, then! Let’s go drain some people to the last drop and have fun!
Ayato: I’m not going. Fuck you. I’m going back to my room too. But Laito—like you said, the moon does look weird today. I’m feeling thirstier than usual.
Laito: Right.
Ayato: The only thing that could quench this thirst is some extraordinarily tasty blood. I don’t think blood like that even exists.
[Ayato leaves.]
Kanato: Teddy, should we get going, too?
Laito: Won’t you come have fun with me, Kanato?
Kanato: There’s no way I’ll go with you. I haven’t had my dessert yet. I won’t rest until I’ve had my petit gâteau… Right, Teddy?
[Kanato leaves as well.]
Laito: That’s a shame. I didn’t really feel like going alone… Maybe I should go back to my room, too. The moon is a little too bright, after all. Hehe. I’m looking forward to whatever happens next…
[The scene shifts to Shuu, who is now soaking in the bath tub.]
30:36 Shuu: There’s nothing like a nice bath. I feel like I can relax and sleep here… Come to think of it, I had this itch in the back of my mind earlier. I forgot to pass on Karl Heinz’ message to the others, saying that a new sacrificial bride would be arriving. Oh, well. No matter who it is, we already know how the story goes… I don’t really care what happens. They’re nothing but prey to us, anyway. Ah… but there was something else he said… I think this time it’s the real sacrificial bride…
[Shuu falls asleep in the bathtub.]

The calm after the storm.
Pairing: Dad!Spencer Reid x reader
Wordcount: 718
Summary: Spencer comes home after being kidnapped.
Warnings: None. I imagined this happening after the events of the Criminal Minds episodes Believer (13x22) and 300 (14x01), but it's not necessary to understand the story.
Note: This is not my best work, but I still put in effort and I'm proud of it anyway. Any feedback is welcome, just be kind about it.
Also, even if all you do is read this without leaving a like or comment or anything else; thank you. I might never know you read this, but it still means a lot.
Story:
The whole apartment smelled like fresh baked sweets. The entire kitchen was covered in bowls, kitchen utensils and flour that you were itching to clean. But, hearing your daughter laugh and seeing how exited she was pressing all the different shaped cookie cutters into the rolled out dough, made that itch disappear like snow in the sunlight. The sound of keys hitting the bottom of a bowl made you turn around. It couldn’t be…
The only person it could be was your husband, but it couldn’t be him. He was an FBI agent with the Behavioural Analysis Unit. His job was dangerous and yesterday you had gotten one of the two calls you had been dreading since the start of your relationship. Your husband had been kidnapped. Your hearts weight had tripled the moment you heard. Your husbands boss had promised their team would find him, but in what state? The only guarantee in this situation was that there were no guarantees. All you could think about were your daughters. Your little girls had just turned four and you had no idea how to raise them without their father. You couldn’t tell them what happened, so, in an attempt to distract them this morning, you were baking cookies with one of them, the other still sleeping. Until you heard that one sound you didn’t expect.
“Daddy!” Your daughters voice pulled you out of your thoughts as she jumped off her step stool and ran toward the door. Your eyes followed the little girl until she flew into the arms of the person who had just entered your apartment. The man you had been married to for over seven years. Your husband and the father of your children. He was okay. He was safe. He was home.
You walked towards your husband as he hugged his daughter. “Hi pumpkin! I missed you!” He told the four year old in his arms. “I missed you too, daddy! Mommy and I made cookies, do you wanna see?” Abby asked enthusiastically. “Absolutely, but where’s Amy?” Her dad asked her about her twin sister as you watched in awe a few feet away. “Amy is still sleeping.” Abby told him. “Ah, in that case, I’m just gonna say hi to mommy and then you can show me all the cookies you made, okay?” Your husband asked your little girl. She nodded and so her dad put her down on the ground, opening his arms for you. He didn’t have to wait even a single second. Without having to think about it, you stepped closer, wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him as close as you possibly could. Feeling your husbands body against your own, caused you to release a breath you didn’t even know you were holding. “I was really scared.” You breathed into his ear. “I was too, but I’m here now. I’m home.” Spencer whispered as he hid his face in the crook of your neck. “I love you.” You whispered back, mirroring his actions. “I love you.” He whispered back, pressing a kiss to your cheek. He loosened his hold on you just enough to press his lips on yours. You wished you could stay in that moment forever, but you had to breathe. As you pulled away, you heard a door open behind you. “Daddy!” You heard and moved aside just fast enough for your husband to catch the little girl running straight at him. She wrapped her little arms tightly around her father and hid her little face in his neck. “Hey peanut, you okay?” Spencer asked her. “I missed you, daddy.” The little girl answered. “Aw, I missed you too, sweetheart. Hey, mommy and Abby made cookies. Do you want to go see them?” Her dad then asked her. That caught Amy’s attention. She loosed her hold on her dad and turned towards you. “You made cookies without me?” Your little girl then asked you. Her big brown eyes and quivering lip almost broke your heart. “We did, but we still need to decorate them and we couldn’t possible decorate all those cookies by ourselves.” You told her, exaggerating a little, hoping it would prevent a tantrum. “Can daddy help?” Amy then asked. “Absolutely.” You smiled, happily knowing your family was together, healthy and safe.

Better Than Your 2D Men
Fandom / Pairing: Attack On Titan / Eren x f!reader
Rating: SFW / Fluff
Genre/Theme: Established relationship; non-titan au
Content warning: fluff, teasing, language, suggestive (?), they make out a little.
Summary: When you crush over your fav anime men, Eren gets jealous cause homeboy wants all the attention to himself.
Author's Note: Hello, here’s a short fluffy one-shot with my fav 2D man cause I wanted to have an ambitious crossover of my fav animes. Thank you for reading <3
~ Eren’s Birdie
Song Dedication: 3D (Alternate Ver.) by Jung Kook
“Baby… pay attention to me…”
You ignore your boyfriend's pouty voice as he lies across the bed, near your feet – instead, you focus on the laptop screen on your lap.
“How much longerrrr?” You hear him sigh and feel fingers caressing the bottom of your feet.
“You know I'm not ticklish,” you reply plainly, eyes still glued to the screen.
“Hmm, that's why…” you hear him mumble before you feel a set of teeth bite around your right foot toes.
“Eren, ew… what the fuck,” you cringe, pulling your foot away from him as you slide the laptop to your side, abruptly halting the anime you were watching to finally look at him.
Your boyfriend smiles ingeniously, proud of his accomplishment at finally getting your attention redirected towards him.
“So that’s what it takes for you to finally pay attention to what really matters,” he ponders as he crawls up to lie between your legs, tilting his head to rest his face on your right thigh.
“I was focusing on what really matters,” you roll your eyes as you grab your laptop once again to rest it on your other thigh. However, Eren’s quick to move further up till his torso is splayed over you, almost like a lizard trying to cover as much surface area of a wall it possibly can.
“Rennie, please let me finish these episodes, I haven’t had the time to watch them for like… weeks now,” you sigh as you try to move his heavy body to the side.
He doesn't budge but simply wraps his arms around your waist, tucking his hands into the gap between your body and the mattress, resting his cheek on your belly, “Okay, you can continue watching.”
You sigh in defeat as you tilt your laptop screen, pressing play and focusing your attention back on the show despite the awkward position you’re in.
It isn’t another 10 minutes into the episode before you hear your boyfriend speak again, “Sometimes I wonder if the only reason you watch this show is cause the men are attractive. There’s no way a slice-of-life person like you enjoys such violence and death.”
You don’t reply, trying your best to ignore his commentary and focusing on the fight scene.
“Oh my god, I’m right! Who is it? Do you like Gojo? Or Nanami? Or who– what are the names of other hot men in this one?” Eren chuckles in disbelief, looking up to scan your face to see if you give away anything.
“Shh, let me concentrate… it’s an important fight,” you mumble without looking at him and the scene is almost over.
“Yeah right,” he scoffs as he pauses the episode right when Choso enters the frame, “tell me, do you find this guy hot?”
“Eren, are you seriously jealous of a 2D character?” you counter, trying not to laugh at his actions.
“Well, if he’s stealing my precious time with my girl then ye–”
“We’ve literally been in bed the whole day,” you interrupt him.
“And is it so wrong to want to be closer to my girlfriend?” he gasps.
“Yes, you were lying around, scrolling on your phone… doing random shit the whole day but the minute I decided to watch JJK, you suddenly want my attention,” you roll your eyes at him.
“Don’t change the topic– who’s your fav among them?” he dodges your accusations.
A smile creeps up on your lips as you decide to indulge him, “Well, they’re all so hot, it’s hard to choose really. There’s this guy, Choso… and Geto, and Toji! Now that I think about it, all of them are equally attractive.”
“All brunettes,” he notes.
“What?” you ask, confused.
“All the men you just named have dark hair,” he states.
“Yes… so?”
“I’m basically like the real-life version of them – I have long, dark hair, a good physique, handsome face–”
“Okay, Narcissus, chill,” you snort. Eren pulls away from you to move further up till he’s hovering over you, caging your head between his arms.
“No, my point being… if you have all of this right here,” he points at himself as he smirks, “why waste your time on some stupid anime?”
“I can have both,” you grin, pressing your palms over his chest.
“One is clearly better than the other,” he dips his head down for a peck.
“I seriously can’t believe you’re jealous of a bunch of sexy 2D men,” you giggle once again.
“No, I'm not… Can your 2D men do this?” he whispers, tilting your face and burying his face into your neck. He licks your skin before sucking on it roughly, causing goosebumps to rise all over your body.
“Can they?” he asks once again as his hand glides under your t-shirt to cup one of your breasts, playing with the nipple. Eren nibs at the spot behind your ear and you let out a soft moan. “Yes?”
“No,” you huff, closing your eyes at the feeling.
“So, am I not better than your 2D men?” he whispers in your ear before biting your earlobe. His hand abandons your tit, instead travelling down to dip into the waistband of your shorts, pressing two fingers over your mound.
“Y-yes,” you sigh. He laughs at how desperate your voice comes out and you tilt your head to kiss him on the lips to end this awkward conversation.
And Eren, being the good boyfriend that he is, lets you mask your embarrassment into his embrace – delighted at being the centre of your attention once again.
~fin~

visitor
show: alice in borderland
character: chishiya shuntaro
summary: you visit your idiot brother at the while he's injured and in the process, meet someone new. you caught his eye and now you have another reason to visit so often.
warnings: g/n! reader, they/them pronouns used, spoilers for season 2 episode 8
"you're so dumb!" you call as you walk into the room, a doctor flailing behind you in worry. but you only focus your eyes on your brother, who lays in the bed fully, glancing back with you. an annoyed sigh leaves his lips before he closes his eyes. "i told you i'd pick you up! and then i get a call saying you were already there? and you were in an accident!"
niragi knew you'd be the first to come. the only, actually. but he could never deal with your shouting, especially not when it happened so frequently. it's been a day since the accident, and he has finally woken up.
you put your bag on the floor against the bedside table. "you could stand to listen to me at least once! this is why you're always getting hurt and i'm always the one checking up on you."
you made it sound like a hassle, but the both of you know that no matter what, you would stick by. you made a promise to yourself to make your brother a better person, and niragi vowed to protect you from the bullies in life. you needed each other.
"yeah, yeah, i got it. god, you're so fucking loud." he grumbles back to you, "can't you see i'm in pain?"
you hold your angry gaze before a bit of sadness falls in. you stand at his side, pressing a gentle hand to the bandages on his arm. "you look like shit, suguru." you mutter out under your breath, "the hell were you doing there so early? we were supposed to meet at 2!"
"i got tired of waiting! i was calling you to tell you to hurry the fuck up!" he exclaimed, making you drop your jaw, "how about you answer your phone next time, huh?"
you retract your hand, pointing an accusing finger at your brother. "i told you, moron, i was in a meeting! 2 was the earliest i can do!"
"ah, please... there are other patients in this room..." the doctor says, waving his hand to dismiss the situation, "we don't want to cause a ruckus..."
you look back to the doctor. "sorry, i forgot..." you say in a quieter tone. your eyes gaze upon the two other occupants in the room, both staring right back at you in frozen shock. you give a little bow. "i apologise, i just needed to talk to this... dumbass... but i promise, no more yelling."
"thank fuck."
"suguru."
"it's alright." the furthest one, in the corner near the window, says to you. he has a bandage on his cheek, and grins to you softly.
the one beside your brother, notably taking his eyes off of you and on your brother. "don't worry about it. this guy your boyfrend or something?"
"oh, hell no." you laugh, the doctor then leaving the room, deeming it safe, "he's my older brother."
suguru glares back at the man beside him. "are you stupid?"
in response, he raises his brow at the stranger's words. you widen your eyes and slap your brother's shoulder. "shut up, suguru!" you scoff, turning back to the strangers, "sorry about him, he can't read social cues... my name is y/n."
the black-haired man in the back sits up, throwing his legs off the side of the bed. "i'm arisu. it's nice to meet you." he says.
the blonde speaks up, "chishiya. it's a pleasure."
arisu stands up, holding his back a bit. "i'm going to go get a drink." he states, leaving the room.
chishiya keeps his eye on you. you were obviously so caring of your brother that you would berate him this much. but your tone conveyed an annoyed feeling. your face showed that you were stressed, but relief had washed over you when you realised he was as good as he could be.
"there's a chair here, stop standing there." suguru tells you, nodding to the space in between him and chishiya at the ends of their beds. you walk around, taking the spot, ignoring his ignorant voice.
"the doctors said they wanted to run you through a couple more tests." you say, your voice sounding softer now as you stare at your brother, "they're going to come in soon."
"more tests? fuck, they won't let me go." suguru grumbles, leaning his head back against the pillow. he hated the stares people gave him because of all the bandages on his face. he hated being small in their eyes. "whatever... you staying? or heading out after i leave?"
you think for a moment, tapping your knee, before you respond, "i'll stay. i want to talk to you some more before i leave."
as if on time, the doctor from earlier comes in, holding a clipboard with quite a few papers on it. "mr niragi, we've set up the rooms for testing." he claims, looking at the both of you, "although, there are many. this would take at least an hour."
suguru looks back at you as nurses come in, ready to transport him to the first test. "you still gonna' stay? you'll be lonely, like a loser." you give him a look.
"they won't be lonely." chishiya speaks up, leaning comfortably against the bed. he smiles at your brother, with some teasing hint behind it. "i'll keep them company."
"i already hate you." suguru claims, beginning to move out of the room while he hears your chuckle at chishiya's claim. soon enough, he's gone and the door is closed. just you and chishiya.
you rub the back of your neck with a big sigh, "he's going to be the death of me... i can't help but worry for that guy."
chishiya sits up, leaning away from the bed's support. "he does seem to be a bit of a handful." he says in response, "you have it all together for the both of you, hm?"
you shrug your shoulders, staring back at the guy. it was strange, he didn't look to be injured. "so what happened to you? if you don't mind me asking."
chishiya smiles, placing a hand over his stomach first. "impaled. twice, what are the chances?" he says, "missed any vital organs, so that's a plus."
"you sound weirdly fine with being impaled twice." you say, smiling awkwardly. chishiya shrugs. he grins back at you softly, and you can't help but stare for a few more seconds. he sure was pretty. "so... job?"
"is this a first date?" he raises his brow.
"i would hardly call this place suitable for a first date." you joke, shaking your head, "maybe when you're out of here."
chishiya stops, his brows lifting a little more and his lips parting. you were confident, he could give you that, it was obvious that you and suguru were related. the way you smile at his silence makes his chest squeeze, and he sits up straighter under your heavy gaze.
"i should be released in the next few weeks." chishiya states, tilting his head at you, "and to answer your question, i'm a medical student."
"smart." you say, impressed. chishiya nods his head, asking about your job. "i'm a part of a publishing firm."
"creative." he compliments.
the both of you talk for the hours that your brother is busy doing tests. usually, chishiya wouldn't spend all this time just speaking to a stranger. but you were kind and didn't make him feel uncomfortable in silences. you would fill them with questions or simply just explaining things about you and your brother. chishiya was glad you weren't the nervous type.
you began to come over more in your spare time, dropping off supplies for your brother and talking to him for a while with chishiya in the background listening. sometimes, suguru would be out on his walk or in physical therapy (without telling you so you couldn't follow) and you'd be in the hospital room waiting for his return. but it was okay, chishiya was always there to keep you company. he'd tell you all the things that the doctor's were saying about your brother, what it meant, and most importantly, his progress.
you learnt from what he told you that your brother would be sent home after a month. relief washed over you and you thanked him. chishiya was more than happy to help, especially seeing how glad that made you.
"do you know when you'll be released?" you questioned that same day he informed you of suguru's last day.
chishiya, who sits across from you in the open hospital yard at a coffee table, watches as you stir your drink. it was his idea to leave the room today and get some coffee or tea, feeling stuffy in that room (and quite lonely since his only friend arisu was occupied by some girl he heard named usagi) and you just happened to drop by as he was getting ready to leave, your brother out of sight. so he asked you to come along, enjoying your smile as you accept.
"itching for that first date?" he mutters to you, leaning back in his spot.
you chuckle, "that wasn't the point. you know, after suguru comes home, i won't have a proper reason to visit the hospital anymore. they only allowed family to come see the patients, with how many there are."
you made a good point there. chishiya doesn't think he's seen anybody other than you or arisu's father or brother come around to visit them. and judging by niragi's personality, he was surely stringing some girls behind, no?
"so, yeah, we can go out on a date when you're released. or we can just continue talking casually." you offer him, holding your drink, "i don't mind."
chishiya raises a brow. he's a bit suspicious. why would you be so willing to spend time around him? some sort of game? he hums, "you don't mind? really?"
you shrug your shoulders as you sip from your cup. when you place it down on the table, chishiya eagerly awaits your response. "i really don't. you know, i like spending time with you, chishiya."
he's only known you for a good two weeks. is that long enough to develop feelings?
he's heard stories from people he worked with and around. proposing on their anniversary, chasing them to the airport before they board, dating since they were fifteen. he's even heard of some couples who move in together mere months after dating. he used to think it was all too fast.
but was it okay for someone to fall in love that quickly?
he decides to test the waters, overturning his hand so his palm is presented to the person in front of him. "i like spending time with you too, y/n."
you reply with a simple grin, resting a gentle hand in his. "that's great. then we can hang out more once you're out of here."
"i'll be released next week. thursday, 9 in the morning." he states, confident that your hand was the only thing keeping him warm in the spring weather. you blink at him, making chishiya nervously tilt his head with a grin. "too soon for you?"
you shake your own head and say, "no, it's not that, it's just that you made it sound like i'd have to wait another fortnight for you to be out of the hospital." you squeeze his hand ever so gently. "i'll spare some time."
"did you want to get breakfast with me?" he asks, nearly too fast for his liking.
you mumble, "what day?"
"thursday." chishiya is confident he is coming off too strong. but who was around to tell him off?
you laugh in response, "now it sounds like you're the one who can't wait." he wants to crumble into the ground. "but sure, i can do thursday. have a spot in mind?"
a loud huff interrupts the both of you. suguru, in crutches, lands in the chair beside you as soon as chishiya goes to answer. he's almost like a bad luck charm. your brother is breathing heavily, leaning his crutches against the table as he lets out a hefty sigh.
"god fucking damn it, i hate these things." he tells you, throwing his head back. the nurse helping him before standing a few feet away to give you privacy, but it was obvious that they were trying to get your brother back to his room. "remind me to never break my leg ever again. this fuckin' sucks."
"i would think so." you murmur to him.
that's when his eyes suddenly go down to your hand, linked with chishiya's on the table. and now, he's confused.
"what the fuck is this?" he questions, furrowed brows. he stared stupidly at you two as you noticed your hands and pull away at the same time. his gaze turns to chishiya first. "you gotta' be messing with me. no way you fell for this smart-ass, y/n."
chishiya places a hand over his heart. "you wound me, niragi." he sarcastically says, finishing off his drink as he stands up, "i'll let the two of you talk. if you need me, i'll be in the room."
he doesn't get very far before you call his name again. chishiya turns around, watching you scribbling something on the spare napkin you brought took you with the pen the nurse so kindly provided. he can already guess what it is, and now he's even more sure this isn't real. nobody would actually write their phone number on a napkin, right?
"feel free to text or call me whenever." you say, handing it to him. and sure enough, it's the digits to your cell. accompanied by your name and a smiley face, as if he was one to received many numbers from pretty strangers such as yourself. "i'll see you before i leave."
chishiya pockets the napkin securely in his pocket, holding his hand there for safe keeping. "i'll keep an eye out. see you, y/n."
"bye, chishiya." you respond, watching as he walks back towards the main building.
suguru is going to throw up, is what chishiya hears him say. you two speak loudly that he can still catch what you are talking about.
"why him of all people? i woulda' accepted even arisu over that guy." suguru scowls, making you roll your eyes.
you mumble back, shaking your head, "don't be mean, you barely talk to him."
"that's a fucking lie, he belittles me when you're not around." he points out, glaring holes in the back of chishiya's head. he can feel them.
"well then, soon you'll only have to see him when i'm around." you claim, holding your chin in your hand as you smile to yourself, "so no problem."
suguru gets one look at you and sees that you're being dead serious. he groans, eyes up to the sky, "what do you see in a guy like him?"
you trace the rim of your mug. "i like him a lot. he's smart."
chishiya is out of earshot as soon as that's said, and he's almost glad. he doesn't want to walk around the hospital with some dumb smile on his face.

read time: 3 mins 23 seconds
The walk home seemed longer tonight. Maybe it was because of the sheer exhaustion from not sleeping in almost days, or maybe it was just from the horrible day you had.
The vision of the woman with the fresh bite on her leg plagued your mind.
Her sobbing baby next to her made matters even worse.
The tourniquet didn’t work. The infection spread too fast. The woman didn’t even know she was bitten for days. How could you not notice an open wound on your leg?
How could Tommy had let someone into the compound who was clearly not well?
You shook your head as you fumbled through your keys to get the right one. It was silent. The crickets were even gone, nothing else moved except the flickering light on your porch.
Joel had to fix that one of these days.
The old door creaked open. The only light left on was the lamp Joel would leave on for you when nights like this would occur.
What time was it now- after 11? He would most definitely be asleep.
You kicked your boots to their place and set down your bag. Angry with the state of your scrubs, you began peeling your coat off and leaving it on the floor.
The stairs creaked slightly as you made your way up them. You pulled at your socks that clung to your feet. The bedroom door was left slightly ajar, you could see the lamp light peering through the crack.
Pushing the door slightly open, you found Joel propped up in bed with a book.
“Your still awake?” you asked, immediately taking the top of your scrubs off.
“You know I can’t fall asleep without you,” he said, a harmless dig at your absence lately.
You genuinely felt bad for being gone. It wasn’t your intention to work a double at the hospital wing and then have 3 people come in with all very serious problems.
“I’m sorry,” you sighed, opening your drawer and searching for a comfy shirt.
Joel raised his brows in concern. Your tone was off. “Everything alright?” he asked, folding the corner of his page and slowly placing the book next to him.
Ignoring the question that would most definitely bring tears to your eyes if you answered, you changed into some of Joel’s old flannel pants that were two sizes too big.
You turned to the mirror in your bathroom, staring blankly at your toothbrush.
“Y/N?” he asked, the bed creaking as he sat on the edge. “Please don’t,” you whispered from the bathroom, finding the courage to turn on the water to brush your teeth.
Looking up from spitting out your toothpaste, you found him standing adjacent of you with a worried look on his face. Your eyes looked tired and he knew you had an awful day. Joel knew there was definitely a story behind that face causing your mood.
The stress of the day always seemed to fizzle out when you were around him.
“Come here,” he says, accepting your embrace. The tiny sniffles you gave broke his heart. He held you close to his chest. One hand rested on your head, another arm wrapped around your back.
“It wasn’t supposed to happen. She could have lived,” you choked out. “Mhm, I know baby. Let it out.” he sighed.
Joel didn’t have to know the story to understand what was happening. He felt the energy coming off of you. It was bad.
“Everything will be okay.” he whispered, kissing the top of your head. “Let’s get to bed now, hm? We both could use some sleep.” he said, placing his hand on your waist and walking with you towards the bed.
You anxiously sat at the edge of your bed as Joel turned off the hallway lights. He hated the look on your face when he returned. Zoned out, you stared at the tiny photo on the dresser of him and Sarah. His large body broke your trance, engulfing you in another hug. “Everything’s going to be alright. Stop lookin’ so pitiful,”
Your hands grabbed his hips and drew him closer. The scent of pine filled your nose. He had been on patrol earlier that day you assumed. His hand carefully rested on your head, stroking your hair. Your forehead sat against his stomach. Joel’s stomach gargled, causing you to let out a brief laugh.
“Get in,” he said playfully, tipping your shoulder back as you fell into bed.
“Gassy,” you whispered, bringing your eyes up to match his. He was standing over you, your knees in between his legs.
“What did you say now?” he asked, smirk on his face. His large frame fell over yours. You yelped as he caught himself with his forearms next to your body.
“Watch it,” he whispered in your ear. He showered your face in kisses as you squirmed. Using his body as a catapult, you forced yourself out under him. Finally free.
You scooted over to your side of the bed and curled into the smallest ball you could. Joel knew exactly what you wanted.
He pulled up the sheet quickly with a snap, and let it fall over you slowly. He knew you loved this.
“Pillows good?” he asked. You nodded, a small smile appearing on your face. “You need anything else while I’m up?”
“No. But thank you.”
He climbed slowly in next to you. Joel clicked off the lamp and moved in right next to you. It was almost as your body was fit to compliment his. You two matched perfectly.
“We can talk about it in the mornin’ if you’d like.” he offered. He felt your head nod against his chest.
“Goodnight darlin’,” he said, wrapping an arm around you. “I’m sorry today didn’t go well. Tomorrow will be good, I’ll make sure of it. We can make a day of it,”
A sigh of relief came from you. He always made things better. He was right. Tomorrow would be a better day.

I'm Going To Kill Him
Chapter Warnings: Brief Implications of Homophobia
---
The feeling of Wanda's arms around you, wrapped tightly like a blanket of security, was one of your favourite things, her body pressed up behind you, chin resting on your shoulder as the show played on the tv, your mind elsewhere as your thoughts drifted to the woman embracing you.
A couple episodes effortlessly passed by, the sound of your stomach rumbling quietly interrupting the comfortable silence that had enveloped the room.
Your cheeks tinted pink at the noise, Wanda letting out a soft, delicate chuckle, pressing her face against the side of your neck as she smiled against your skin, murmuring softly,
"Sounds like someone is hungry again," her tone wasn't too teasing, but you could hear the hint of amusement in her tone, her lips softly pressing against your cheek as she moved her head, lips lingering against your skin.
"Shush," you mutter back, turning your body around so you could hide your face at the crook of her neck, mimicking her earlier movements, cheeks still coloured from the small embarrassment.
"Do you want to go out for lunch Detka? The twins won't be back for another couple of hours," she whispers, taking mercy on you and not teasing you any further, her fingers toying with the fabric of her shirt you were wearing, drawing random patterns against it.
You pull back from the warmth and safety of her neck, your eyes meeting her tender green, the various shades overflowing with love as she gazes into your own, her lips pulling up into a smile at your enamoured state. You can't help the smile that takes over your face, relishing in the amount of affection and attention she was giving to you before answering her question.
"On two conditions," you murmur, her brow raising curiously at your words while her fingers slip under the shirt, causing you to pause in your words for a moment. You notice the subtle smirk on her lips at your reaction, only just managing to get your thoughts together to continue speaking, "I get to choose where we go andIget to pay."
Angelic laughter spills from her lips, her nose scrunching up in that adorable manner at your adamant tone, the determination you have to pay for a meal with her making her heart melt as well as the idea of you wanting to treat her.
"Why are you so adamant on paying for something?" she mumbles softly, leaning forwards for a gentle kiss, her soft lips pressing delicately against your own, your mind addicted to the feeling of them.
"Because I want to treat my girlfriend for a change," you mutter, making her smile at being called your girlfriend, before she agrees to conditions, a little nervous and excited for where you were going to take her.
***
"You brought me to a diner?" she asks, turning her head to you as you walk towards the door of Odin's diner, ready to hear the nostalgic bell ringing at your presence.
"Yep," you say, popping the p with a wide grin on your face, wanting the older woman to see the place you loved to go to when you were younger, as well as giving her the opportunity of trying the delicious food made here. "Now come on, you're going to love it," you encourage, her hand clasping yours as you pull her inside, taking her to your usual booth and sitting opposite her, watching in an adoring way as she admires the retro styled furniture and restaurant.
"It's interesting in here," she comments, her tone not displeased or anything, simply commenting on the old style in an amused way, her eyes flickering over to you, noticing a certain glint in your eyes, "What?"
"Nothing," you say, a smile permanently engraved on your face as you gaze at her, the sound of a booming and familiar voice reaching your ears, causing the smile to grow that little bit wider.
"Well if it isn't Lady Y/n," Thor's tone full of joy as he approaches the two of you, his usual charming smile plastered on his face, his brows raising in a teasing way when he notices it's not Natasha with you. "With a lady friend," he adds, his smile growing.
Wanda looks over to you, a little confused but still smiling as Thor hands you both a menu, his charismatic form swiftly winning the older woman over as he continues to tease you playfully.
"I'll leave you two lovely ladies to decide on what to eat, I'll see you at the counter soon," he bids his farewell, moving onto the next set of customers who were taking a seat, Wanda biting her lip to contain her smile as her eyes travel back to you.
"Seems like you're a regular here," she teases, her hands interlocking with yours across the table, thumb brushing the back of your hand in a comforting manner, your eyes flickering back up to her eyes.
"My dad, Nat and I used to come here a lot when we were younger," your tone reminiscent as memories of the place filter through your mind, "When it was our birthday, he'd let us order as much as we'd want to, Nat and I practically ordering the entire menu and stuffing ourselves with as much food as possible." Wanda rests her head in her free hand, listening attentively to your story as you keep your eyes on her, "We'd never be able to eat it all but we really enjoyed the challenge," you chuckle at the end, remembering the many times you both would lean back against the seats, holding your stomachs and vowing to never eat again until you would see Thor coming over with milkshakes and sundaes. "The milkshakes here are to die for," you say after a moment, her chuckling at the passion behind your words, unable to stop looking at your content state.
"Well I guess we're just going to have to order one then," she says, theatrics added to her words to make you somehow smile even more.
Soon enough, you both are relaxing against the seats of the booth, Wanda teasing you about how unhealthy you'd both been today, eating pancakes for breakfast and now more junk food for lunch, but you simply brushed it off saying how, after the 'workouts' you had last night and this morning, it was ok. More conversation casually came about, random stories being told again as you tried your absolute hardest not to torment the older woman about the table story after finding out the truth, a warning look that shouldn't have been so hot being sent your way when she could tell you were about to say something, her head tilting slightly when you got too close to teasing her.
Once you had both digested, you were about to go up and pay when Wanda said she was going to go to the 'bathroom', not falling for this trick again as you told her to wait a moment. The older woman chuckled as you kept your eyes on her as you went up to pay, sending a triumphant smile her way when you successfully did so. What the older woman didn't see coming, was that you would come back with two milkshakes to go, not having had any during the meal, making her smile fondly as she strolls with you back to the car, proving how the trip to the bathroom was going to be a decoy.
A small moan escaped you at how good your milkshake was, Wanda's head turning at the soft noise in the car as she buckled her seat belt, your eyes meeting hers after a moment, a timid expression on your face at the darkening green. You watch the conflict between her eyes, unaware of where her lustful thoughts were drifting before she regained her self control, getting ready to drive the two of you back home in time for the twins, her hand resting on your leg whenever she could.
***
Once home, you returned to your seats on the sofa, once again wrapped up in Wanda's arms so you could watch another episode of The Dick Van Dyke show, only being snapped out of it by the sound of a car door slamming and a few muffled voices.
Almost instantly, Wanda's smile grew that little bit bigger at the idea of her boys being home, motioning for you to sadly leave her embrace so she could welcome them, hoping to have as little contact as possible with Vision.
You leaned your head back against the sofa, shamelessly letting your gaze drift to the sway of her hips momentarily before watching her open the door, Billy standing on the steps waiting for his mother, Tommy running up from the driveway after talking to his father a little longer.
Wanda's brows furrowed at the deadly glare Vision sent her way, wasting no time in setting the car into reverse, Tommy practically storming past his mother with a scowl on his face directed at you. Wanda's head snapped around to watch Tommy make his way over to you, caution and worry on both of your faces at Billy's timid frame, your body moving to stand as the boy approached you.
"Hey, what's wrong Tommy-" You were interrupted by the boy trying his hardest to shove you, his arms pushing you back again as you didn't fall, your strength beating his attempts.
"How dare you!" he grits out, his hands hitting you again, Wanda almost slamming the door shut at her son's actions, ushering Billy in quickly to check on Tommy. "You ruined our family," he says and your heart breaks, face emphasising the hurt flowing through you.
Wanda calls out his name but it falls on deaf ears, Tommy's face full of anger and annoyance aimed at you, his hands being caught by yours to stop him trying to hit your body.
"You're never going to replace my dad," his small hands fight against yours to no avail, Wanda coming over, her voice stern as she calls his name again. "I don't want you to be my new parent, I already have my mom and dad, I don't need you!"
"Tommy!" Wanda shouts, her voice cold and harsh, making the boy shut up and turn to face her, his hands roughly pulling away from yours to wipe the angry tears that had spilt down his cheeks before running off upstairs, his door slamming shut.
Wanda's gaze softens when she sees the crestfallen look in yours, the peaceful atmosphere from earlier shattered at Tommy's outburst, Wanda murmuring something to Billy before offering you an apologetic look, moving to climb the stairs after her son.
Billy practically runs into your arms for a hug, his small body crashing into yours, arms wrapping around you causing your hurt and confusion to quickly fade into worry at the boy's state, wrapping your own arms around him and crouching down to be at his level.
"I'm sorry," he mutters against your shoulder, "I didn't mean to tell him, I just wanted to come home," he sniffles against you and you're just confused as to what's going on, hands sliding up and down his back in a comforting manner.
"Hey, breathe for me Billy," you pull back from the embrace, putting your hand over his and guiding it to your chest, letting him feel your steady breathing and heartbeat. "Deep breaths for me, like this," you encourage him to calm down, eyes conveying your worry as he moves his other hand to wipe the tears from his cheeks, gradually slowing his shallow, panicked breathing.
"I'm sorry," he manages out again and you gently shush him, offering him a gentle smile.
"What are you sorry for?" your tone soft and calm, despite the anxiety building within yourself at what must have happened at Vision's house to set both twins off into such an emotional mess.
"I- I accidentally told dad about you and mom," he mutters out, your mind putting to pieces what probably occurred, Vision most likely ranting in front of the boys and telling lie after lie. "He was so angry," he sniffles once more, your arms pulling him close, lifting him up as you sit on the sofa, letting his body rest against yours. "He was being mean to you, I didn't like it so I told him to stop," your heart melts a little at Billy standing up for you, pressing a kiss to the top of his head as he continues, "He sent me to my room and wouldn't talk to me until was time to leave this morning. I just wanted to come home."
"Oh Billy," you coo, holding him closer as you can hear voices from upstairs being raised slightly, trying your best to comfort the boy in your arms and not let your emotions take over, Tommy's words stinging. His words mixed with your mothers, her hatred to you and what you supposedly did to your family, but you pushed it down as Billy hugged you tighter. "You're home now, it's ok," your words a soft whisper, his body relaxing against yours as he calms down, his eyes trained on the Dick Van Dyke episode playing on the screen still, the show seeming to calm him down even more.
You let him adjust in your arms, moving so his body was in between your legs so you could wrap your arms around him from behind, his head leaning back against you as he continued to watch the show, seemingly losing himself in the sitcom reality like his mother does.
A couple minutes later, you can hear the sound of someone walking down the stairs slowly, your head tilting to see Wanda running a hand through her hair in a stressed manner, her tense green catching yours. She notices how your eyes and smile aren't as bright as before, the way Tommy spoke to you causing disappointment to rise within her, despite now knowing all the sick and twisted lies Vision put into his head to cause the outburst.
Her gaze then flickers over to Billy who's snuggled into you, her features softening at the sight before her before she realised how hard the last day must have been for Billy, her pace increasing as she steps off the stairs, making her way over to the sofa you were on.
"Dorogoy," she murmurs, gaining Billy's attention and opening her arms up for a hug, the boy leaving your embrace for his mother's as she speaks to him in Sokovian, you staying out of it as they have their moment. He runs off to the kitchen after speaking to Wanda, the older woman telling him he could go and get some snacks to bring in for you all, so she could talk to you alone for a minute.
"How's Tommy?" you ask tentatively, her resting her head against your shoulder, letting out a deep sigh as your perfect day had been tainted.
"Angry and confused," she whispers, "He's calming down now and will apologise to you later," her words become firm at the end, signalling her disapproval of his actions.
"What happened?" Your hand interlocks with hers, eyes searching hers for any sort of emotion that you could make out, the green mixed with anger, sadness and annoyance as she lifts her head to face you properly.
"Vision's convinced him you want to replace him and that you don't even love me, you're apparently only with me to spite him it seems. He also kept saying how we were wrong," she mutters, your face conveying your irritation with the man, her making an expression of agreement. "What's Billy said?"
"Vision was 'being mean to me' and Billy tried to stick up for me, but that only resulted in him being sent to his room and not spoken to until they got in the car earlier," her jaw visibly clenches at Vision's actions, so hard you're scared she's going to hurt her teeth.
"I'm going to kill that man," she grits out, your hand cupping her jaw and letting her lean into your palm, her eyes fluttering shut as she tries to calm down, knowing Billy will be back soon.
"Mom, can you help me reach the big bowl?" Billy calls out shyly at the door frame, his gaze flickering away when you both turn your head at the sound of his voice. She sighs out softly once more, quickly leaning in to peck your lips for some comfort before standing up.
"Of course, Dorogoy, what are we having?" she asks in a gentle tone, ushering the boy back to the kitchen.
***
You're currently sitting on the sofa with Billy, his hand digging into the bowl of popcorn while the film Cars plays, the end race consuming all of the boy's attention. Wanda, on the other hand, is completely disinterested by the film, murmuring how she was going to check on Tommy as he still hadn't come down yet, his mother worried about him.
You watch her climb up the stairs, your brows furrowed with concern for the other twin. You understood that his words were put into his mouth by Vision, but that didn't mean they still didn't hurt. You would forgive him, you knew that, but you couldn't get rid of the heavy weight in your chest that had settled there.
A couple minutes later, two sets of steps come down the stairs, your head not turning as you watch the climax of the race with nostalgia, remembering your excitement the first time you watched the film all those years ago.
"Y/n?" calls a timid and nervous Tommy, Wanda standing behind him with her hands on his shoulders, squeezing them in an encouraging manner. "Can I talk to you, please?" The boy doesn't meet your gaze, looking at his sleeves instead while your gaze meets Wanda's, her face softening at your small smile.
"Of course," your tone is calm, not finding it any use to be angry at the boy and make it even harder for him. "Let's go to the kitchen?" He nods his head in response, moving reluctantly out of his mothers arms to the kitchen, you doing the same as you leave Billy on the sofa, pausing in your tracks when you get to Wanda.
"Thank you for being so mature, Detka,"she whispers in appreciation, worry evident on her face at her son's newfound sadness and distress. "I know this isn't fair on you-"
"It's ok," you whisper in reassurance, placing a quick kiss to her cheek as you go to follow the boy, Wanda watching you from the hallway.
"Y/n?" Tommy murmurs quietly as you lean against the kitchen counter, the boy sitting on one of the chairs. "I...I'm sorry for what I said earlier." He doesn't meet your gaze, guilt taking over him as he had time to realise how nasty his words were. "I didn't mean any of it. I need you here with us," his tone quiet but genuine, eyes hesitantly flickering up to look at you, his shoulders relaxing at seeing your calm gaze, expecting to see anger. "I was just so angry and confused," he mutters, "I know that shouldn't be an excuse but-" When he starts to ramble, seeming to stress himself out, you interrupt his apology.
"It's ok Tommy," your tone is nothing but soft to ease his nerves, "I won't lie and say the words didn't hurt, but I know you didn't mean them, did you?"
"No," he quickly rushes out, making you smile a little.
"Good," you sigh out, opening your arms out for him to hug you, to which he does so swiftly. "Just remember to think about what you say to other people, alright? Because words can really hurt people, and it's not fair to them if they don't deserve to be hurt."
"I will," he mutters into your shirt, still hugging you tightly. "I'm sorry again," he whispers, your arms moving to his shoulders to push away from the embrace slightly so you could look at him.
"Come on, let's go join the others," your tone soft as you guide him back to the living room, the boy jumping on the sofa next to his brother and whispering something to him privately while you join Wanda on the other sofa. You flop in the seat a little dramatically, the older woman chuckling at your antics before tucking her feet under her body and letting her body lean into yours.
"Thank you for being kind to him," she whispers, pressing a kiss to your cheek as you wrap your arm around her, your smile not quite as wide. Despite your maturity and the kindness you showed to Tommy, you couldn't help but overthink his words now as you all sat together, insecurities and doubts cruelly coming to gnaw at your mind despite your adamance to not be annoyed with the boy. It wasn't his fault you repeated in your mind, it was Vision's, but that didn't mean the words couldn't be true.
Did you ruin their family?
Just like you ruined yours?
No.
You refused to go down that dark spiral of thoughts, doing your best to remember all the comforting words Wanda whispered to you lovingly, reassuring you that it wasn't your fault. It wasn't.
During your inner turmoil, Wanda noticed how you seemed to tense next to her, becoming restless as you shifted continuously by her side, seemingly agitated by something. She was worried that you would overthink Tommy's words and she could tell you were while everyone was watching something else on the Tv, her hand moving to squeeze your leg to try and bring you back to reality.
"I love you Detka," she murmurs in your ear, her tone laced with tenderness as she tried to subtly comfort you with the twins nearby, your hand moving to grasp hers, playing with her fingers as you fidgeted a little, the old nervous habit seeming to come back.
"I love you too," you whisper, meeting her eyes to convey the honesty behind your words, only breaking the gaze at the sound of laughter spilling from the twins lips, trying to enjoy the afternoon as much as you could.
***
As soon as the bedroom door shut, you were engulfed into the older woman's arms, head resting on her shoulder while she let her hands glide up and down your sides, noticing how crestfallen you seemed. You didn't want to be put down by the words, knowing he didn't mean them but you couldn't stop thinking what if you did ruin it for them? What if-
"Detka," Wanda murmurs against your hair, her hands at your waist as she guides you towards the bed, letting your body fall onto it first before she straddles your lap, not in a sexual way, just trying to bring you two as close as you could physically be. Her arms loosely wrap around the back of your neck, your arms snaking around her middle while your head moves to rest against her chest, listening to the calming sound of her steady heartbeat. The older woman knew you loved hugging her like this, being able to feel all of her pressed against you in a tight embrace, so she let you savour the moment briefly, the room being enveloped in a comfortable silence until you spoke up.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, making the older woman frown. You had nothing to be sorry for. "I know it wasn't his fault but I just-" you sigh, interrupting yourself as you try to piece together your thoughts. "Did I?" You ask, voice cracking a little, Wanda's heart clenching at how hurt you look. "Did I ruin your family?" Her hands immediately move to cup your cheeks, confusion evident on her face as how could you possibly think that?
"No," she says with no hesitation, searching your eyes to see the doubt still there, your insecurities winning the battle. "You haven't ruined anything Detka," her words firm to emphasise her point, her thumbs brushing over your cheeks as you peer up at her. "The only person here who's ruined anything is Vision," she grits out his name, unable to keep her anger at bay when thinking about him. "Y/n, Dorogaya, you are the best thing that has happened to us, to me," she confesses, your lips tugging up into a small smile, the pools of green overflowing with care. "I love you Y/n and so do the twins, in fact, I don't think I've ever seen them as happy as they are with you," her fingers move further back, softly scratching your scalp as she continues, "So please don't ever feel like you're not wanted here, that you have ruined anything because you haven't."
You lean upwards to press your lips to hers, soft lips meeting your own as your eyes flutter close, truly trying to savour the feeling of them pressed against yours firmly to show you she's there for you but also softly to show her love for you. It's slow and intimate, everything you need right now, Wanda being everything you need right now.
"How are you so perfect?" you whisper against her lips, eyes still closed as you lean your forehead against hers, her lips tugging up into a smile. She remembers when you first said that to her, at the end of the twin's birthday party when it was just you two outside, Wanda desperately wanting to kiss you that night, to hold you tight and promise you everything was going to be alright.
"I'm not perfect, Detka," she murmurs back, your lips tugging into a matching smile as she replies back in the same way as she did all those months ago.
"You are to me," your tone barely above a whisper as she claims your lips against for an intimate kiss, both of you pouring your emotions into it before pulling back, simply relishing in the embrace while processing her earlier words.
Not soon later, you were both cuddled up under the sheets, legs a tangle of limbs as your head rested on her chest, arm wrapped around her middle to keep her as close as possible. She hummed a soft Sokovian lullaby, the room filled with a comfortable atmosphere as your eyes fluttered closed, an idea popping into your mind at something she said earlier in your sleepy state.
"How are we going to kill Vision?" you mumble against her shirt, partly asleep, Wanda unable to stop the laughter spilling from her lips, hand coming up to hide her giggle as her nose scrunched at your random words. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she looked down at you, her mind thinking this is why she loved you, you would always make her laugh, no matter what. "I'm sure Nat knows how to hide a body," you mutter, voice slightly muffled against her chest as you spoke, torn between letting sleep completely take over you and staying awake to enjoy her company.
"Let's talk about that in the morning," she whispers lovingly and playfully, brushing some of your hair out of your face as you're already drifting off, her smiling down at your adoringly as you sleep on her, "Sweet dreams, Moya Lyubov."
