Mabye he was able to save her, and in the process, his body got damaged bad enough that he had to replace it. In this situation, it would be more so because he was hurt so badly he nearly died but didn't wanna leave his daughter.

He'd likely want to keep her as safe as possible but still ended up becoming a space ranger anyway due to sharing the ideologies, but for the first few years of her life, he likely ether stays out of trouble as much as possible or has a safe house for her when he absolutely can not take her with him. On the missions where he does carry her along when she's fairly young, he's just got her attached to a baby sling on his chest. Though i dont see that being extremely common, he doesn't want to risk even a 0.0000000001% chance of her getting hurt

Once she gets older, she's more steady with her walking, she's talking in full sentences, and finally, tall enough to reach his hip, hed likely start teaching her to use a gun.

It's a very serious moment due to how important he thinks it is for her to be able to defend herself when he can't be around. Hed likely has a target set up as he knelt behind her, helping her hold it and aim.

'Keep your breathing steady, don't close both eyes it puts your aim off, keep your elbows loose, respect the gun but don't fear it'

He knows he's going to have to get to work getting his revenge for the rest of his family, so he can't keep coddling her so teaching her to use a gun, or disarm someone and fight hand to hand becomes his top priority. That's not to say he over works her or forces her when she's tired, that's still his little girl, so when she's tired from training he makes sure she gets plenty of rest.

As much as being prepared is important, being well rested and happy is too.

On to more domestic and sweet ones, i donno if he'd have his own ship or just have some safe house on some random planet, but either way coming home to seeing his little girl happy healthy and alive is probably his favorite part of the day, the big bad gunslinger persona immediately melts away and he goes straight into silly annoying dad mode.

This means he has a million dad jokes to make poor cherrys eyes roll out of her head. Though I'd imagine she'd end up just like him, funny phrases, stupid jokes, and a bit of an attitude.

Once she's plenty old enough, say around 16 or so, and wants to go out on more dangerous missions with her dad, i think she would follow the path of abundance. Shed likely wants to protect others like her dad does, plus it's pretty helpful when your father is a cowboy who runs around getting into trouble. It does help put boothill at ease as well, seeing as she can heal herself if she gets hurt....as if he'd ever let that happen.

I'd think that for a while, he's more focused on his daughter rather than finding a partner, however were he to meet you at some point when cherry was fairly young one thing that would likely make him interested is you acting kindly towards her and cooing over her. Showing positive interest in his daughter is a pretty good way to get on his good side. Doesn't quite mean he'll trust you just yet. it just means you're on good terms with him.

I feel like he'd have to trust you pretty well before he lets you watch his daughter. She is his pride and joy, and his one most important person in his life. he almost lost her, and he won't risk someone trying to take her from him again.

However, once cherry is older and can, for the most part, care for herself without her papa watching over her, then hed show more interest. If you were there sense she was young and helped him care for her, he likely already started liking you early on but just didn't make a mood due to focusing on her. Due to you being closer to her in this situation, i can imagine her calling you her mom/dad/parent, too. Extra brownie points!

I imagine cherry being, like i said, like her dad. A bit goofy at times with weird phrases and a slight attitude, and growing up with his censor shed likely copy that too, yelling out "fudge!" When she stubs her toe. I can see her having an interest towards guns sense it was something her papa introduced her to it but also music. Hed likely have taught her guitar by this point so shed probably make up her own little songs and sing them to him (and you once you join the little family) and no matter if their bad or good hes always just happy to hear her sing with the biggest smile on his face, and you best be too.

Oh, and of course, shed get her own cowboy hat, but choose to keep stealing his anyway.

Overall, if she had survived, i imagine him being mostly the same, just with a little girl following him around.

angel dust is also incredibly protective over you and he isn’t above attacking anyone who tries to cause you harm (or that has succeeded at harming you in the past) — he was part of a gang in life and, rest assured, he’s more than happy to make use of the skills he gained throughout his mortal life to keep you safe (or even just to gain your approval if you have a habit of praising him for being an excellent shot)

while he’s definitely appreciative of words of affirmation as a love language, angel dust mainly resonates with the idea of quality time — being able to be with you as himself without the expectation of acting like something he’s not, or even having to do anything at all, is incredibly important to him and allows him to become more comfortable with being his real self (being ‘anthony’ instead of ‘angel dust’) around you

I feel like her distrusting keefe and then slowly learning to trust him would have made the book MUUUCH better!!

You’re so right about Keefe. That definitely doesn’t get dropped after lodestar, or even nightfall—it’s one of his character’s main flaws, and while it does shift and evolve as the series moves on, it’s kind of there, you know? And I’m really hoping it resolves in some way by the end of the series, because his arc is just… so interesting to me. Because it is NOT arc-shaped. At all.

I get what you mean about Sophie being the only one who doesn’t distrust Keefe when he comes back. I really like that too acknowledge that it’s a Sophie-specific thing, though! Too many people forget that this is a third person limited story told by an unreliable narrator, and act like Shannon Messenger herself is telling us Keefe deserves to be fully trusted. Sophie Foster decides, at the end of Neverseen, not to hate him, and Lodestar is where she has her moments of doubt and distrust, but even in Lodestar, she always believes in Keefe’s good intentions. There’s even a scene where she says something like “Yes, Keefe’s plan is horrible and I hate it, but his heart is in the right place. I have to believe that.” The part about keefe’s plan is paraphrased, but she did say she needs to believe his heart was in the right place, in that wording, and it’s fascinating to me. She’s very attatched to Keefe (obviously) and I think it’s mostly for her own sanity that she chooses over and over to believe that there’s something right about what he’s doing, because letting him go sounds excruciating, even by his own fault.

I actually have no issue with this being Sophie’s perspective, and I actually find it interesting especially in the context of sokeefe, but I wish we got to see this portion through another character’s eyes. For example, Fitz. Someone who does distrust him afterwards, and rightfully so.

As far as Fitz discourse goes, that stuff stemmed less from nightfall and more from flashback and legacy. I don’t hate Fitz in either of those books, but you’ll probably notice the moments that made people kind of go nuts about hating him and ran away with his character (personally, I think Fitz is fully understandable in both books, but don’t fully condone the way he acts in a few scenes, particularly in legacy. I’ll explain later after you’ve read it)

I have found some time to let me ramble into this box for an hour LETS GO...

First of all thank you I also love my fox girls. I also assume you are probably the same person sending me misc asks about foxgirls regularly which I keep them because I like them so don't be discouraged that I don't answer them all the time lol

I can go on for a long time so I'll just keep things about Tetra today...

This is Tetra.

This is also Tetra.

They are the same character but I have implemented her into two universes. She was originally made for my GURPS (ttrpg) game and then I adapted her into my own headworld setting; Vanus. She is very slightly different between the two settings, but overall it is the same character and the way I draw her just determines the setting i'm drawing for at the moment. I tend to talk about both of these versions of her randomly but for the sake of things being entirely my own writing and not things from the TTRPG I play her in.

I'll be mostly talking about Vanus Tetra today. (So the one on the right)

Tetra is a sarcastic socially awkward alchemist who likes to test new reagents and concoctions by putting them in her mouth and immediately getting sick. She is a laid back, mostly carefree weirdo. She is very interested in making medicines for people, however she also has a blatant fascination with poisons to the point where her continued taste testing has given her a poison resistance. Her ears are floppy because she has overly sensitive hearing. She likes harmless pranks. She is so aroace she does not understand innuendos nor any kind of flirting to the point of confusion. The list goes on.

Tetra was born to a ~rather important~ sorceress and her bodyguard. What exactly the important thing they are doing remains unknown, but for REASONS they had to leave her in the care of her mother's old friend/other bodyguard, Terasu, when she was PRETTY young Probably around 8-10 or so.

Terasu basically raised her for a few years, lending a lot to Tetra's snarky and mischievous personality and the way she presents herself. However Terasu was chronically ill and was very good at hiding it. When her illness suddenly took a turn for the worse she sought the help of an old dragon alchemist that lived in the depths of a dark fungal jungle. He did his best to help, however Terasu ended up succumbing to her illness, leaving a still very young Tetra with this rather eccentric dragon they had both dubbed "Grampa" when she was about 12.

Grampa took her in and taught her alchemy due to her unyielding persistence in wanting him to teach her. She fixated on the craft, believing that if she had known sooner she could have done anything to prevent her caretaker's death, and wanted to do all she could to help others in the future.

She took to the craft incredibly quickly and her skill grew just as fast. She easily adjusted to her life in the fungal woods and grew very attached to Grampa, treating him like a father figure. Before either of them knew it, she had been there studying alchemy for a good 15 years... However Grampa when she started living there was already very old, even for being an older-lived species, and when he passed, it basically broke her. First her parents vanished, then her caretaker died from illness, now she had lost Grampa too. She had already developed a separation anxiety at this point and this amplified it to the point where, despite burying him herself, she was still regularly talking to Grampa, acting like none of it had happened, like he was still there.

Due to her psychosis, "Grampa's" guidance caused her to set off from home truly for the first time. To gather new reagents for alchemy, to hone the skill more and to potentially meet new people. Maybe figure out what the hell happened to her parents, because she is definitely mad about that. She is an odd animal trying to learn how to process grief and discover a found family. She is sad but she stays silly to the point where it's not something you would notice unless you spent a lot of time with her since she is too busy generally being a weird goofball to let others in the know of her own problems.

Initial thoughts after Completing Canto 7. Spoilers below the cut

For where Id place Canto 7 Id say somewhere around Canto 5, not sure if it's above or below. I know there was no way it was going to top Canto 6, something just had to give. Its just a bit of a shame that its this much of a drop yknow? Not to say it's bad yknow, cause even Canto 2 I still consider alright.

Easily the worst dungeon in the game. Only 1 floor and it's short as hell. The fights range from absolute jobbers to "Spam E.G.O and Pray" with absolutely no in-between.

In Order: Teddy Bear was interesting if a bit bland, mostly just need to pay attention to status effects and you're good. Lasso was threatening with his Rupture until you realize that's all he does. I just kinda clashed with him for 20~ish minutes until he died.

Camille/Peri is funny as shit in a fucked up kinda way for a number of reasons. 1) the fact that they're death is handled in such a lazze-faire way. Not only is it such a piss easy fight, but like they don't even get named in their fight nor does Peri get a new talk-sprite, they're just "corroded Zwei/Cinq Fixer". 2) The fact that it's supposed to be our stand in for the 400-Roses fight, so you just know that they're going to make a big deal when it inevitably appears in RR5. Like I know exactly what you're planning PM, you can't trick me. 3) The fact that this piss easy fight is immediately followed up with 3 of the most bullshit fights in the game is funny as shit.

Pequod Trio: Vampire Edition, while a funny name isn't quite accurate. While that fight was nonsense by design this fight was nonsense in a very "Lobotomy Corp" kinda way where it just throws 3 bosses at you and says "good luck fucko". Yeah they're at like half-health but that still doesn't stop Dulcinae's "inflict 50 Bleed and 20 Bleed count" shtick from being Bullshit.

Sancho was the most E.G.O spam fight I've ever E.G.O spammed which is saying a lot. Made all the worse by certain mechanics and a few unfortunate rolls meaning that she was at Max SP for basically half the fight. I love the cutscenes and all the character development from the other sinners but fuck me I burned through All my Lust and Sloth on that fight alone.

Lastly, Mancha Quixote Might just be the worst fight in the game. Like its insane that they said "what if we took all of Dulcinae's problems and made them all 10x worse". Like the only reason I made it through that was because of Solo Cinq Don, Fluid Sac, and Luck. I can say a lot more about *why* his fight and these guaranteed damage mechanics don't work but for now I'll just say that chain battles just do not have enough incentive to justify this kind of encounter design. As a character the man's fairly interesting cause you can tell his heart is in the right place but his naivety meant that his plans were always gonna fall apart in the face of reality. Also I'm curious if P Corp is gonna bring him back as like a cyborg or something cause unless Sanson pulls double Duty I have no idea who Don's N Corp counterpart is gonna be.

To wrap this up: To me the most interesting parts of the Canto are all the lore implications and, as mean as this is gonna sound, all the character moments from all the *other* sinners. I think they finally managed to top "Break from your Birdcage" as the best End-of-Canto Moment, just full-stop. Otherwise yeah. Keep on Cooking PM

Fred - Donnie, HAH, BET YOU WERE EXPECTING ME TO SAY HE'D BE VELMA WELL NO. listen, yeah, on the outside, he probably would fit Velma the most, but exploring Donnie entirely as a person <- (and with my knowledge of growing up with the guy), he's Fred. Daphne - Raph, mostly because if they did have a set leader, it was her all along like seriously she took charge alot and not many people give her credit for it I don't think, just like Raphie. She's super smart! She's more than being pretty! She is not a damsel! I'm pretty sure i've seen her clock a bad guy once or twice and she also helps with planning. I think Fred said he always thought she was the leader in one of the iterations too!!!! So yeah, raph.

Velma - April, okay I know velma doesn't believe in the paranormal and April does and she finds that stuff super exciting but the enthusiasm Velma has towards investigating reminds me of April and her whole obsession with being a news reporter or something. She isn't afraid to stick her nose where it doesn't belong in order to find the answer and April just seems like the type to know the answer but keep it to herself until the the last moment for like...dramatic twist...

Scooby - Mikey, he's loyal and will stick by your side during danger and also I just think the fact that Scooby and Shaggy are the duo ever that are terrified of ghosts and um...you know...thinking back to the gumbus...ANYWAY. I think the whole shaggy and scooby jumping into each other's arms screaming fits us. Thinking more about my role swap au, particularly how much Wyll would probably fucking DESPISE Astarion at first.

Cause like, in this au, Wyll was the one turned into a spawn and forced through 200 years of awfulness, and I think that probably would give him a very different opinion of heroes than the Wyll we know and love in-game.

This Wyll felt a deep sense of betrayal at never having been found by his father or the Flaming Fist- at almost no one being able to suss out his master’s true nature, and those that can either being too prideful in their attacks and getting themselves killed or being in in on the cruelty and letting it continue unfettered.

This Wyll has a GREAT distaste for so-called heroes, convinced that the vast majority of them are self-aggrandizing louts that are just in it for the acclaim.

I say “the vast majority,” however, because I think that the idea of a true hero is still something he clings to at his darkest moments: that maybe there could come a day where someone good and just could do in his vampiric sire for good and finally end his reign of terror, and that maybe, just maybe, he could be recognized as more than the monster he’s been turned into.

This, however, only increases his contempt for those that fail to live up to that paragon status.

Enter this au’s Astarion: the most dramatic bastard to ever play hero.

Wyll’s attention goes STRAIGHT to Astarion once the group reaches the grove, probably having heard tell of the illustrious Blade of Frontiers in the taverns he frequented and being curious as to whether the legend held up in reality.

And oh. Oh it certainly does not.

Adventuring wasn’t really a choice for Astarion. It was either mope about his banishment and his eternal servitude to the Fae till something killed him OR use his newfound powers to earn some respect and get by that way.

Archfey pacts mostly deal in charming those around them, enhancing their presence beyond what a mortal alone could accomplish. As a result, a lot of how Astarion works is by having his reputation preceded him, letting the subsequent fear or adoration do a lot of the heavy lifting in his encounters.

In this way, the Blade of Frontiers is completely an act, one that Astarion profits from by keeping it up. Yes, he’s helping the people at the Grove because it’s the right thing to do, but he’s also totally doing it because he knows they’ll be willing to give him food and shelter despite not having much to go around in exchange for the protection he provides.

Astarion upholds the charade of the Righteous Defender in front of the Tiefling refugees but is quick to show his true, not entirely selfless nature with the other tad-fools since there’s no use in putting up a front when they can literally read his mind and they might all die in a few days time.

And ohohoho man will Wyll have PROBLEMS.

Wyll, in this au, is far from the fairy tail hero we know him to be in canon. He follows a lot of the same playbook that in-game Astarion does for most of the journey. He tries to manipulate those around him into protecting him, will always go for whatever option is more in his favor, and has a very dry, borderline gallows sense of humor that he uses to cope with his situation. In his eyes, though, he comes by his selfishness honestly. Astarion, meanwhile, seemingly shoves his hero status in everyone’s faces while, in Wyll’s eyes, not having truly earned it.

To Wyll, Astarion is a hypocrite of the highest order who works in his best interest and then would chastise him for doing the same.

It makes when Astarion’s fae ties are revealed and he’s punished for sparing Gale all the more satisfying. Wyll damn near revels in Astarion’s transformation into a faerie, watching him struggle to come to terms with the giant ram horns sticking out from his skull and his sudden change in eye color. Because that’s what you get for messing with powers beyond your control. That’s what you get for pretending to be a hero when all you are is a failed magistrate toying with those around you.

That’s what you get for thinking yourself so much better than the monsters you keep for company: you become one yourself.

Wyll finds it funny, a karmic justice for all the times the folk hero had looked down on him for voting for the less virtuous option or for joking about what flavor their companions might be.

It is so very, very funny.

…until it isn’t.

Because the transformation doesn’t force Astarion to drop the hero act like he thought it would. Oh no, if anything it has the only strengthened his resolve to do the right thing no matter the consequences. He wears the mantle of the Blade with more vigor than ever before, earnestly trying to live up to his own impossible legend now that it will never be within his reach.

It makes no damn sense to Wyll. Why bother? Why go to the trouble when you know the effort won’t be appreciated? When everywhere he goes, all anyone will see is a fae creature looking to cash in a favor?

He just doesn’t get it.

He doesn’t get it until they make it to Last Light Inn. It’s there, as he watches Astarion talk to Councilor Florrick, to the High Harper, to Isobel, Alphira, Rolan, Raphael, everyone they meet as the threat of the Absolute weighs heavy on them all, that Wyll hears something in Astarion’s words that he hadn’t before:

Fear. Desperation.

Astarion doubled down on his Blade persona for the same reason he made it in the first place.

It’s all he has left.

And if he doesn’t, then everything he’s done since his banishment will have meant nothing. He’ll have given up his life, his reputation, even his own body for nothing.

But if he can be a true hero, if he can use the power his pact grants to protect those who have none, if he can be the kind, just man that the Blade represented, maybe it would all be worth it somehow.

It truly sinks in for Wyll just how heavily it all weighed on Astarion the day after they first make it to Moonrise Towers. Wyll had gone out into the night searching for any living creature he might get a meal out of within the all-encompassing darkness of the Shadow Curse when he heard groans of pain nearby.

Keeping to the shadows, he followed the noise till he found a disheveled Astarion, pulling at his horns and knocking them against trees in some half considered attempt to pry them from his head. Looking at him closer, Wyll could see bags under his eyes from weeks of sleep made uneasy by the two additions. He watched as frustrated , pained tears gathered in the eyes of the same man that had brushed off any concern from their traveling companions about whether he was coping well with his sudden, agonizing transformation.

Wyll tried to grasp at that satisfaction he’s felt when that liaison of Astarion’s patron had bestowed the punishment for letting Gale live.

Instead, he found a profound sympathy he wanted to bury as soon as he’d found it.

Because he remembered his beginning days as a vampire spawn. How long it had taken him to be able to speak clearly around the new protrusions in his mouth. How he’d cut his tongue on them every other sentence. How he’d succeeded in ripping them out once only to regret it when their absence only left him starved and still expected to entertain and seduce victims anyways.

Wyll backed away before Astarion could notice him, but the sight of his seemingly unflappable companion buckling under the pressure stuck with him. Come the next day at camp, Astarion was back to his usual flamboyant self, all signs of his previous anguish carefully hidden out of sight and out of mind. Things were, as far as anyone else knew, as they’d always been.

And yet, if one knew to look, they might have seen Wyll covering for Astarion more often in fights, taking down enemies before they could get too close to their raucous hero. They might have seen him sneaking extra health potions in his pack when he wasn’t looking, or being the first to assist if he went down. They might have even noticed Wyll collecting bits and pieces of cloth, fabric, and other softer materials that whenever it was possible to scavenge.

About a week later, there finally comes a day where Astarion goes out and Wyll stays back, and after coming back from a long and concerning day exploring the Gauntlet of Shar, Astarion is shocked to find a new addition to his tent: a patchwork pillow resting on his bedroll, thick enough to give the extra support needed for someone with horns like his. When questioning the others left behind, Karlach eventually tells him that Wyll had been oddly absent for almost the entire day.

And when Astarion questions Wyll on whether or not he had anything to do with it, Wyll merely shrugs. “Us monsters need to look out for each other, don’t we?”

The Disabled Tyrant’s Pet Palm Fish by Xue Shan Fei Hu -- a brief review (VAGUE spoilers under the cut)

This novel is a fun silly romp with plenty of face-slapping and courtroom drama. Overall, this is a fun one and while I enjoyed it very much it is perhaps not one for everyone. Our main character is pretty OP and seemingly able to overcome any and all trials with his powers of being a CUTE MAGIC FISH.

Content warnings and some VAGUE SPOILERS in regard to the disability and representation under the cut.

What kind of story is The Disabled Tyrant's Pet Palm Fish?

DTPPF is a transmigration story. So anticipate all sorts of transmigration shenanigans and tropes. It's also a story that is clearly meant for fun and not to be taken seriously. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't have heart -- there were a few times I teared up and cried as I got hit right in the feels. This is also a story with mpreg -- something that I hadn't anticipated just from the title and synopsis.

(If you are worried about the mpreg just know that it is vaguely referenced and kinda handwaved in a 'it just works' way. The novel does not go into the how or physiology. It just happens.)

What about the disability? The tyrant is mute -- and there are some genuine moments of how he struggles with it. There's even a couple moments when he sort of uses his muteness to his advantage. It is an integral part of his character as it has changed how others treat and perceive him. It also affects his life in the imperial palace and his right of inheritance as one of the emperor's sons. It does not feel like an afterthought. That being said please check below the cut to see some more of my thoughts on this matter.

Overall while this story does have a good amount of courtroom intrigue, drama, and backstabbing I'm still left feeling that it's a fairly lighthearted and fluffy story. I think this is mostly due to how seemingly easily and consistently our main character and his love interest are able to solve the problems they run into. It was also terribly endearing as the reader to see the tyrant falling desperately in love and just wanting to tell the main character that he is loved and that he accepts him no matter what kind of creature he is.

Who are the main characters?

Without going into details here's a little bit about our main squad:

Li Yu aka Xiao Yu - the main character of our tale, he is a modern young man transmigrated into a webnovel he had been reading... but as the protagonist's fish! He is tasked with helping the tyrant but how can he help when he is but a small fish? He gets creative and gains some special abilities that allow him to help cause chaos and help the tyrant before eventually he is able to regain his human form for a certain amount of time. (He is referred to as "Xiao Yu" at first by the tyrant as he is a "small fish" (xiao = small, yu = fish.))

Mu Tianchi aka Jing Wang - the protagonist of the novel Li Yu had been reading. His name is Mu Tianchi but is often referred to by his title "Jing Wang" especially at the beginning of the novel. He is said to have been born mute and as such he is not considered as a viable heir to the throne. This does keep him out of some courtroom drama but certainly not all of it. As the other brothers are fighting, scheming, and taking each other out Mu Tianchi does continue to prove to be very capable and difficult to manipulate. He also goes above and beyond when it comes to spoiling both "Xiao Yu" (the fish) and Li Yu (his human form).

Wang Xi - protagonist's eunuch / advisor / assistant / caretaker. He's incredible and deserves so many props. He would do anything to help Mu Tianchi and Li Yu. I don't have much to say about him other than I don't know what Mu Tianchi and Li Yu would have done if Wang Xi had turned against them.

Chu Yanyu - the original love interest of the tyrant in the novel. I won't spoil things but I will say I wanted to yeet this character every time he showed up. Just when you think you've seen the last of him he. keeps. showing. up.

What is the plot of The Disabled Tyrant's Pet Palm Fish?

The plot of The Disabled Tyrant's Pet Palm Fish follows Li Yu's journey on regaining his human form, helping prevent certain events he knows about from the novel, uncovering the conspiracies and mysteries from Mu Tianchi's past, and securing Mu Tianchi's place as crown prince. Meanwhile Mu Tianchi and Li Yu fall in love with each other of course.

Small critiques

I've only read this title once (so far) but unlike Silent Reading and Heaven Official's Blessing, I feel like DTPPF doesn't really have clear arcs in terms of where one book would end and the next would start -- I will be curious to see how Seven Seas splits this one up into volumes.

There are some characters that never get names. This is not the only webnovel I've read where this happens but every time it happens I'm a little disappointed. Like, on one hand it can be hard to keep track of a ton of characters and their names but... it also is just so weird to me whenever a character continues to show up but is only referred to as "the scarred man" or in the case of this novel "the princess of JinJue." She's a pretty great character but she never got a name!

I do hope that when Seven Seas releases their translation that they will include a character list like they have in other books to help keep track of everyone. Because when the emperor's sons are mentioned sometimes it's by their birth order or title and sometimes it's by name. And of course they all have similar names (they even share a generation name -- Mu TianZhao, Mu TianMing, Mu TianChi, Mu TianXiao, etc).

Disability representation in the novel

Without going into the HOW and WHY I feel it is important to mention that Mu Tianchi's disability is CURED pretty late in the novel. While I did find the outcome touching (when the main character hears the tyrant's first words and how the tyrant feels upon finally being able to speak) I think that this could be a touchy subject. I think that the novel could have not had the tyrant be cured and I would have enjoyed it just as much. And I imagine that if you're a person with a disability and or chronic illness that is reading a story where a main character struggles with his own -- only to end up magically and conveniently cured of his disability -- that it could be frustrating.

There is also discrimination against Mu Tianchi for his disability -- he isn't considered a viable heir for the throne because he is mute, even if he is the best choice. Also since he has this disability the other characters (and the tyrant himself) worry that his children would also be disabled.

content warnings: there's several times when jokes are made about bestiality (and a couple characters assume that Mu Tianchi's feelings towards his fish are not strictly platonic).

There is also various attempts of harm towards young children that might inherit the throne including poison, kidnapping, and threat of physical harm. Similarly, there are attempts at drugging (with aphrodisiacs, getting someone overly drunk, etc) and dubious consent situations -- (however this does not occur between our main couple). This is done in hopes of earning someone's favor, forcing them to take responsibility, and or moving up in rank and society.

There is also a character that was taken as a concubine (against her will) after her kingdom was defeated in war. All of this seems fairly standard to courtroom drama stories but I figured it would be good to mention. If you've also read this novel and think I've left some cw out let me know and I'll add them to this list.

Another user pointed out that the character of the JinJue princess is 16-- so there's some setting compliant marriages / relationships with folks who are under 18 years old. I would be surprised if she was the only character this applied to but I can't remember others right at this moment.

Slime HRT - 6 Months

Back again for six months of slime hrt. Starting to see more noticeable changes over the last two months, things are revving up!

First things first: I’ve actually got some slime now!! It’s only the skin on the tips of my fingers and toes, since they’re the thinnest part of my body, but they’re slime! (my hair’s also changed some more, but I’ll talk about that after this) It is a little weird since it’s only the skin, so I can see the musculature that resides beneath since the slime is translucent, but hopefully that’ll turn soon too. I was a little worried about infections, since obviously the skin is normally there to protect all the inside bits, but apparently my slime does the same job, if not better, since it can dissolve any germs and stuff that enter it.

I have gotten a couple of weirded out responses from people who’ve noticed, although one or two were a little fascinated by it as well, and a few people have given me… less than nice looks and remarks, but I've been trying to ignore and shrug them off… 

The other thing I’ve had to get used to is that, while my slime can dissolve microscopic things like germs and viruses, fluff and lint get stuck in there, so I have to pull them out. It’s a little annoying, since I kinda pick up any small fragments of anything, but it is a kinda nice sensation, almost like peeling dried glue off your hands, although that still wins on most satisfying.

As I said before my hair has also changed, it’s basically completely slime now, and is more one solid shape than individual strands, although there’s still a few holdouts. It has made it much easier to style as well, since it’s more like shaping clay, so I’ve been messing around with that a little too. Wearing a headset to play games does tend to cause issues though, since the weight tends to deform it, and I’m not at the point where I can just mentally reshape it, so I always have to find a mirror to help fix it after I’ve finished (Had a few embarrassing moments where I had a lovely imprint of my headset in my hair). Having a solid blob of slime around and at times resting against my face has been… interesting and it can be a little uncomfortable at times, since it kinda feels wet and, well, slimy. Kinda hoping that that’ll change once my face changes to slime as well, since they’ll match, so my sense about it will change too.

Naturally, actually being part slime now, my thirst has gotten worse, and I’m really having to keep on top of it; my body is sure to let me know if I’m not. I’m hoping that I won’t need to drink so much once I’m done, but we’ll have to see. 

On top of the thirst, I’ve now also been getting small cravings for sweet things, which I’m guessing is ‘cause I’m gonna be a sap slime, so I need to get the additional sugar for sweetness. On that note, my fingertips actually do taste a little sweet when I lick them, so that’s neat.

My skin is also undeniably orange now, although it’s a subtle shade for now, which is a small blessing, but yeah, really reaching the point where I can’t pass things off as a trick of the light. On the note of skin, where the slime meets skin is really weird, and I’ve had to stop myself picking at the less sensitive areas - found out the hard way that hitting mostly exposed nerve ending really fucking hurts.

That’s pretty much it for this month, but yeah, glad to have really noticeable changes finally. Will see you in the next update.

Dru Gru Romantic Headcanons

A/N: I know Dru is a old man but gosh he's such a cutie I cant help but love this character- hear me out-

• Due to how Dru grew up with his father always reminding him of being a failure for every second of his life, he grew overly clingy to people who ever remotely liked him platonically or romantically. Was often left alone having no friends and all. He was homeschooled, so he did his own thing by himself as a kid since his father didn't allow anyone into the mansion without his say so. Let's just say his father was very distrusting with people, only person he could trust was Fritz.

• Dru is not really experienced in romance, but he does his best to learn how to be a perfect partner! Romantic encounters were always very rare for Dru, if you could even call them that… The so called few who were interested were only interested in money, you know, those type of toxic people. Those encounters still stick with Dru… often making him feel insecure and paranoid, since he gave his heart, mind, and soul to the people “interested” in him, seeing their interest in him as genuine.. He didn't read the room in time and got hurt in the end emotionally. Falls for people too quickly, an absolute hopeless romantic.

• Speaking of emotional, he's very emotional, more so then Gru who isn't really. Being emotional doesn't mean it's always a negative of course, but it definitely makes certain situations a bit more challenging for Dru.

• Persuading Dru romantically would be a challenge, since he's quite dense when it comes to love, and due to his past experiences with it as I explained - as friendly and sweet as he may seem, he keeps a lot of his true self tucked away, afraid of being hurt again, so I’ll be definitely a slow process before anything romantic would come about.

• Dru’s always down to be anyone's friend, but being romantically pursued or romantically seeking someone? Help the poor lad he doesn't know what to do or how to respond.

• Like he does with people he cares about, he also rubs his face against his lover…. way more often, and afterwards kisses. Continuous hugs, he’s needy and lonely. If his S/O isn't the physically affectionate type, well they better adapt. Dru’s a total cuddle bug. 100% his love language.

• Also gift giving too. He would go way overboard often. If he sees something his S/O likes he’ll look for anything else like it and buy it for them as a surprise. Always has treats he gives his S/O too making sure they're properly fed and loved. Being a gift giver Christmas and birthdays is his favourite times of the year.

• Dru started a tradition of dressing up as “evil” Santa and cause mischief around the neighbourhood for fun a week before Christmas. His nieces, mostly Edith, drag Dru’s S/O into their “festivities” causing mayham. Pretty innocent pranks and mischief.

• Dru may be considered a villan despite his villainous nature, but gosh he's so loving and protective. Pure and true and would never truly hurt anyone unless provoked to do so. Dru is just a thief with only some morals, well, close to morally grey but not really. If anyone hurt Dru’s family or S/O, though usually a coward, turns into a knight of shining armour. That's were his skills really come into play, usually holding himself back due to low confidence outside of that, he doesn't when it comes to protecting his loved ones.

• Still learning boundaries. If he has a not so physically affectionate partner, he can completely miss the boundaries quite a lot in the moment, oblivious to his partner's discomfort. Always profusely apologises after and making up for it by giving them space. He just can't help himself to be close to his S/O… he loves their touch.

• Same thing if his partner doesn't want to talk about something that's bothering them. Sometimes he can read the room of the tense vibes, so he often accidentally pressures his partner to share what's going on, not out of anything malicious he has good intentions even if it's not the best decision to choose at the moment, so communication is key for being in a relationship with Dru as he often misses social cues. Doesn't do it on purpose that's just how he is.

• If his S/O is sad, bothered, any uncomfy feeling, as Dru has done many times before, wallow in silence while eating ice cream in bed with them, or whatever his partner may like that's a comfort food for them.

• Supppperrr affectionate and sweet, very wholesome, obviously, also obnoxiously affectionate, but he always means well. Wants a family of his own one day. If his S/O doesn't he's fine with accepting that fact… yet it doesn't take away the fact that he’s a family man at heart, but would rather make his S/O happy if it meant not having one.

• Loves loves LOVES taking his S/O on dates. His favourites are when they're at the beach… or when they're doing a heist together as they're running for their lives with loads of loot with the help of minions. He sees it as a "romantic date” what a goober.

Being mostly OC based, to be faaaaaaaaaaaair - It's not something fixed in place but I can say with my whole ass that my ships with @intcritus and @avaere are most likely OTPs. Due to the length of time of knowing these two and just how deep our claws go into each other it's almost hard not to think about my muses that I ship with them / without them being mentioned, Muse-wise for sure. Like a part of my muses is made with them in mind, or they've made their corresponding muse unbelievably integral to my muses life and creation as a whole so it's like, yin and yang honestly. A few others are on that road too; eg; @asinusxdomi and @bonesofchaos

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

Everything to be fair, ain't no limitations when we're consenting adults, imo. Obviously nothing agreed on will happen and nothing plotted out for darker themes will be just like forced on people cause that's just shitty but also I know what I'm getting into when I go for those types of ship wants.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

I personally don't feel comfortable in reading about muses having any thoughts about children muses in that way and that's a hard no for me personally. I couldn't write it even to test the waters like I have with a few dark topics, ( dub con / non con etc ) It's just up there with those kinda of topics that I can't personally say 'yeah I'm comfortable with writing this for an experiment', not for me, so yeah long story short, no.

It's just common sense to not ship adults with children muses / characters, it's a big no thank you.

The youngest I could possibly ok in terms of just passing, is the 18-19 with someone in their 20 - 23 space - tops but even so, it still makes me wrinkle my nose a bit.

I think anything younger isn't something I'm looking for to read or write. Younger writers of that age can do what they want but like I'm 31, 32 next year, I ain't got that young-mind leeway anymore mentality and I cringe at the idea of making younger muses like below 25 to ship.

Encore CJVerse Chatroom Post

Just a long post about the Encore au guys in the cjverse chat. I'll be explaining what they've been up to also just their general presence in the chat here. Sooo enjoy!

Due to events of the chat- that I will explain soon- the Encores are all humans again so I'm just going to quickly talk about each of them individually.

Mind is named King. At first he kept his distance from chat but overtime he got more used to it and is now mostly friendly with everybody. He rarely gets in fights, mostly only doing so when it's in defense of Hearts lol. Here's his current profile picture!

Heart's name is Paladin, he is also commonly called Pal, or even Padin by one specific individual. Back when he was a puppet he was called Dove but he will kill you if you use it now. Pal tends to be a lot in chat, he gets in fights easily but ultimately has more friends than anybody else in his psyche. He's the only one with different pronouns in the psyche using she/her and he/him. Here's her pfp!

Soul's name is Piper. When he was a puppet his name was Wander. Wander was much more active in chat and had a few friends but Piper mostly keeps to himself and doesn't talk much now. When he does talk he's mostly pretty awkward. Here's his pfp :)

Finally there's Whole also named Snare. He is not active in chat at the moment due to being murdered (he's fine). However when he did talk in chat is was mostly arguing with people. Pretty much everybody hates him. Anyway, here's the shithead himself.

Not too long after that Snare found out that Wander and King were off their strings and took Wanders memories before restringing the two. He took interest in the chat and had Dove keep an eye on it, acting like a spy, while he wasn't there.

Now onto the general stuff they've been up to.

Wander joined first and it was a lot of just him and King chilling and talking to people. I believe the first important thing that happened was King becoming friends with MP Heart, otherwise known as Elm, when he joined chat.

The chat clearly reacted poorly to this, especially Elm who ran off and caused quite a problem. Which lead him to being chained up in Stein's (MP Whole ofc) house.

Ennui eventually talks to Dove and mostly gaslights him into having some self worth lol. This conversation lead to Worm (A Heart made by Kai) sending Snare some unfriendly drawings. Which got Dove's phone taken away. Dove was upset by this and due to Ennui's gaslighting friendliness Dove decided to escape his cage and free King because he wanted somebody to talk to. King had the idea to made them a place to hide from Snare that they could put Dove's phone in so they can continue to use the chat.

When King returned to chat he heard that Elm had gotten hurt so he messaged Stein to try to help. Stein told him that Elm had cut off his hand trying to make a doll replica of King. So King removed his own hand to send to Stein hoping Stein could use it as a model to make a prosthetic for Elm. Stein had been lying about the situation and was only looking for a way to make a prosthetic hand so he could use it to build a Mind who was named Galvan. Elm did try to tell King this but Stein would pull his hair any time he tried to type out the message.

King did get his hand back but he had to make another plan with Dove to blame Wander for it as well as the fact Dove's old phone was now gone. King got put back on his strings after having his hand repaired and Dove let him go again, as a part of said plan.

King spent most of his time in chat after that, now having some hope that the chat can help them get out of their situation somehow. He ended up involved in a chat about saving somebody from the SCP foundation. The chat wanted to have somebody send him a tazer and they volunteered Stein, who agreed. King tried to argue against it for Elm and Galvan's safety, he was mostly dismissed other than being told Elm could be sent to live with him in case of an emergency.

Not long after that Galvan and Elm got in a fight and Stein reacted by electrocuting Elm. After being oh so inspired by the SCP Foundation. King tried to be there for Elm and comfort him through it and was reasonably pissed at Stein. About two days later Elm and King decide it would be a great idea to test the receiver to see if Elm could safely come to the Encore psyche if the SCP Foundation does try anything. Which results in Elm sending himself to the psyche when he wasn't meant to. King wasn't sure if it would be safe to send Elm back so he let him stay until Stein tested to see if the transmitter would be good to send Elm back. It didn't take long for Snare to find the two which quickly became a problem.

Snare attempted to tie up Elm with strings and Elm freaked out and hit his head into a wall trying to pass out. King had been hiding in Elm's pocket because Snare entering the psyche was causing him to have a panic attack but he climbed out to check on Elm after he got hurt. King got strung up and Elm got locked away in the Encore's storage room.

Wander's strings came undone because of this and he met Elm and freed him from the room. He also tried to free King but King didn't want to be freed worrying things would get worse. When Snare returned to the psyche he decided to turn Elm into a plushie to be easier to manage. Seeing Elm as a plush sort of caused King to have a breakdown, being worried that Elm had also lost his memories or was going to. Elm calms King down and Snare leaves the room, being made uncomfortable by the twos friendship.

When Snare returns he makes a deal with Elm that if Elm cooperates with Snare attempting to take his memories, he would leave King off his strings. Of course because Elm isn't a member of the psyche taking his memories doesn't work. Yippee!

Speedrun time: Dove's a bitch, they go to find Wander, Wander's missing, Elm takes a nap, Wander find them, they talk for a while, Wander runs off again, King naps, Wander shows back up with Dove, Dove and Wander play some games till King wakes up, the group plays games together, Dove and Elm get in a bit of a fight so King takes Dove back to his cage and talks to him, King comes back and has Wander sleep, and him and Elm take another nap.

While the three were asleep Snare returns to the psyche. When Elm wakes up he decides to go talk to Snare and King goes with him. The conversation is sort of ok and Snare sends Elm and King to go get Wander for him. They listen and bring Wander back to Snare , Snare uses the moment to attempt to make King string Dove and Wander for him. King refuses so Snare strings his hands to force him. Elm tries to stop him by rolling a stool at Snare so Snare uses his strings to retrain Elm squeezing him in the process.

Once Snare gets King to string up Wander the blue strings from King began infecting Snares golden ones. Which caused Snare to freak out and leave the psyche, freeing Elm. Being forced to String Wander caused King to disassociate which worried the others. Again more talking and a nap from Elm later Dove suggests King use the strings again. King says no at first and Dove yells at him until the other two agree with Dove, pushing King to try messing with the strings. As soon as he does the blue strings begin to take over the psyche and Snare comes back freaking out and threatening the group.

Heart turns human again first and King and Elm go to see what happened after he falls off Snare's desk, breaking it. Pal and King have a little reunion and Elm leaves again to continue having a moment in the other room until he passes out. Pal, King, and Piper talk a bit and catch up while King's strings basically destroy the theatre. Paladin and Piper bring King back to the house after finding it in the void again and leave him in his room. They take a moment to try to calm King before going back out to get Elm. Elm and King talk a little bit before falling asleep again in his room, Elm sleeping on the floor.

Snare threatens to put Elm back in the transmitter, King panics at that still not knowing if it would be safe for him to go through it. The strings in response turn Elm back to how he normally is and he murders Snare. Yeah remember when I casually mentioned that earlier? Anyway. Snare gets murdered for his crimes and King and Elm go cry on the floor together for a bit after the strings turn King human again.

From there they decided to have Elm live with them and they've all mostly been just trying to get better after everything. They recently changed the house to be better fitting for Elm and to give him his own room. Pal and Elm have been working on becoming friends, King has just been trying to enjoy life, and Piper has been rotting away in his room writing music.

That should be all for this post. There's a bunch of other things that have happened or are happening but this post can't go on forever. There may be more updates in the future, but for the time being, take this heights ref I drew of the guys!

What about the reader being from another universe (Like from another show/anime) and being much stronger than Aizen and plus mostly scary because of how powerful she is? At first, she is cold to Aizen, but him being mysterious makes the reader more interested in him, so she is not really cold towards him unlike how she is cold towards anyone else. She would slowly start to like him.

This was very clear! Thank you for providing so much detail, this is within my rules. So I couldn't think of a show for reader to be from so I hope it's alright that I made her just a typical goddess character, kind of like Artemis if that helps! Also like needy Aizen cause Idk it just happened. More under cut~

It was only natural that Aizen would notice when someone new showed up. The rush of power was impossible to miss and it only made him more interested. Perhaps this person could be useful, it was a thought that lingered in his mind while he searched. At least she was easy to find. It seemed she wasn't worried about people wanting to hunt down that power and thankfully he was the first to find her. Regal yet strong she stood out from the things around her in this wasteland. It felt almost overwhelming standing so close and Aizen knew right away he needed to keep her around. From that day his feelings only grew for her. This goddess was powerful he learned, far stronger than him but that only made him more interested. Aizen wanted no, needed more, he needed to be the one she focused on most and maybe he could be.

It seemed simple enough at first. Getting people to like him was never a problem yet this goddess wouldn't fall for anything. Not the smiles or small talk, not the invites for tea, nothing seemed to work. It was then he realized that she likely just wouldn't fall for his lie. She was not as easy to manipulate as the other captain and people of the soul society; she was better, smarter. No way would she believe such simple lies. With that out of the way he figures there's no point in hiding his true nature then, it's likely she already knows anyway. For a few weeks after things go on like normal. There's no longer an attempt to hide what he does or plans, instead it's laid out in the open for her to see and so begins the hesitant friendship that blossoms into something more.

Aizen is not someone who give up easily and the moment he notice you treating him differently is the moment he's sure he's won

It's not often he can make a real connection with people but you make it feel worthwhile 

With such power he can see why others respect and fear you, he himself would never want to be on the other end of your skills but that just adds to the thrill

At first he wanted you to be his queen but after seeing what you could do, seeing the power and control you had he knew empress was a far more fitting title 

The Espada are fully at your will and Aizen is willing to do almost anything to get in your good grace

That's part of why you end up taking a likely to him

Though he's willing to help, Aizen never goes out of his way to be kind anymore and he refuses to spill all of his secrets 

Anything with him is very push and pull. No matter how much he wants your attention he won't beg and in the same way you won't bend to his will

When the two of you become closer he wants to fight against you at least once 

Knowing you wont kill him makes him excited to take on the challenge, you're someone he can't predict, someone far stronger than he thought possible and it drives him mad

Your love makes him more ready to take over the soul society preferably with your help 

Love and obsession will become a part of your everyday life, such a powerful goddess is someone who can full handle whatever he wants to give and the fact you can set him straight only adds to it

I would have loved to see Jadzia central episodes after she got together with Worf, and ones that's didn't focus on their relationship only. There was so much more to her before and then it seemed like being very immersed in everything Klingon was one of her very few traits.

yes--I absolutely agree. probably not the first to say it. she becomes this quirky, hot sidekick/girlfriend in season 5. how they wrote worf and dax getting together was cute and "screwball comedy" but they sort of tried to keep up that energy but not as successfully (screwball banter is cute only when both parties are getting jabs in equally, and dax seems to just smile like worf is being cute when he accuses her being ridiculous all the time)(like i said, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)(it's just when it doesn't, worf comes across as annoying and dax comes off as Not a person). she's around quite a bit, offering her quips and support and playing her role in other people's journey's...

but episodes that are about her and depend on some issue she has within herself are not present after the romance. not like "rejoined" or the episode where she's being accused of murder bc of curzon. of course, of the episodes that are about her in previous seasons, all of them except "rejoined," arguably, are about her struggling with some past self. while i think the character can go beyond that simple sci-fi-what-if design (like, for example, i think spock goes beyond the alien-conceit in most of the spock-centric episodes), i found myself missing even that watching everything after she and worf get together. if they had even drawn out that romance and showed her genuinely trying to get worf's attention for more than one or two episodes, that would've been more interesting then what ended up happening.

i also sort of get that ds9 isn't so much the "new world" part of star trek as the "new civilization"---that is, it's mostly focused on ongoing diplomacy and war plots with the same handful of richly made-up peoples. but they managed in previous seasons to still write episodes about discovery and scientific work. in season 5, scientific work all seems to be focused on julian, due to the exigency of his role, rather than dax, or both of them. like, within the typical star trek roles to play, the science officer drives the fun discovery and new-weird-stuff plots. instead of episodes about any of that in season 5, though, there's a lot of quark and odo and sisko and julian and worf all juggling their various definitions of identity. (miraculously, dax never seems to waver in that regard. with kira, it's debateable.) which. fine. it was all interesting.

i do think that the show still manages to show dax as someone particular and complex--the writing just doesn't genuinely explore any of it after writing the worf/dax relationship. the moments she does have in episodes not about her are for the most part very good and very interesting and she provides context and wisdom and motive in the way her role dictates. but the fact that i think her character is so fascinating and has so many rich options for sci-fi storytelling only makes the absence of stories focused or driven by her all the more frustrating to me. there's only so many episodes about odo's feelings i can retain interest in.

maybe give jadzia a planet to explore with a bunch of geode formations that emit a protein that causes mutations within biological creatures to cease which somehow causes changelings to crystallize while the protein is in their system and jadzia has to fight on behalf of the planet to just exist so it's not turned into a super-weapon against the dominion and this turns into a struggle with basically her and julian against everyone (they're the most idealistic) and causes real tension between kira and dax for the first time ever and sisko has to say something about how life is sacred and resources are sacred and one has to choose and then dax does something that can't be taken back and the creatures give her a small geode/collection-of-geode-creatures in thanks and she carries it around like she carries all her past-selves.

(which would then justify the way worf constantly seems to characterize her as impulsive and impractical or whatever. bc she did this one dramatic thing that no one can now forget about her. and she just takes it bc she would do it again. and the audience just doesn't know who to agree with.)(but that would make her person with deep conviction and interiority and some perhaps truly un-likeable traits. instead of the hot, smirky-quirky jester that gets men 18-24 to tune the fuck in once a week.)
