seeing glimpses of east end in the penguin has made me miss selina’s presence terribly. unsure how they could incorporate her back into the story seamlessly without diminishing the impact of her leaving gotham at the end of the batman, but east end needs her!!! i keep seeing people talk of batman’s absence being felt throughout the show but really i think catwoman’s absence is felt exponentially more in scenes like this.

i want to see her interacting with eve and sofia… i want proper acknowledgement of her commitment to helping the vulnerable and her connection to sex workers… i want the depth of her character portrayed correctly in her role as protector of east end.

we’ve gotten glimpses of this side of selina; sparingly so in the dark knight rises, while the batman fleshes things out more with the addition of annika. i believe a tv show set in the batman universe is the best shot we have at getting a raw and accurate rendition of her character and purpose as catwoman onscreen. again, not sure how they’d manage bringing her back to gotham without weakening the impact of the batman’s ending, but she never should have left gotham in the first place! this is her home and we need to see her back fighting for it.

selina has had such a huge impact on me throughout my life and is so important to me, i want her to be just as important to other people too. they’ve held back from properly exploring catwoman’s motives on the big screen for far too long, inhibiting those who aren’t familiar with the comics from understanding who she really is. with all the love the penguin is receiving now is the time!!!! give her her show!!! bring her back!!! and do it right! get a team of female writers, of bipoc writers, and get a female director!!! it’s what she deserves.

Beyond any other reason, you know what’s really funny about the whole fanon idea that Batman hates having metas in Gotham?
Catwoman’s a meta. She touched a magic cat statue and got superpowers from it. This is canon. It happened in her 2002 solo.

i am here again asking the good people of tumblr.com for comic recommendations... i am in such a reading slump and the world is so big and i don't know what to start
i'll take anything that's not batfam or harley/ivy centric. it doesn't just have to be dc either... and a shorter run is always appreciated

Do we see any male civilian characters in comics shut down after trauma and have to be institutionalized the same way we do female characters?
Like ATM I have
Shondra Kinsolving, after having been captured for weeks and forced to use her healing powers to kill people.
Maggie Kyle, after having been captured and tortured by black mask and watching him kill her husband.
Dana Winters after her husband died.
Sarah Olsen, after having been captured for a few weeks by Mokkari and Simyan in the evil factory.
like this is not me seeking out characters its just literally noticing a pattern from reading 2 many comics... do we see male characters respond to trauma in a similar way?

catwoman (2002) #1–4
[ID: the four covers for the above mention comics. In all of them, Selina Kyle is in front of a white background and is in her black Catwoman costume. In the first photo she doesn't have her mask on and her short hair is combed back while the front zipper on her costume is slightly lowered. In the other three photos she has her mask on and it's fully zipped. In the first photo she's sitting with one of her knees bent and is looking at something off panel while flexing her clawed glove. In the second, she's shown from a higher angle and is looking up indifferently at the viewer with one of her hands resting against her hip. In the third, she's leaning to the left of as she looks down at her muddied shoe with disgust. The lower right corner of the panel has a splash of purple and mud splattering up towards the left of the panel and on Selina. In the fourth panel, she's shown in a low angle as she leaps with a grimace! One of her legs is fully extended as the other is slightly bent. END ID]

The empty room wakes me up when she leaves... like all the warmth she brought in escapes out the window with her when she goes... and leaves me in the cold, wonder what the hell we’re even doing.
