Some people act like being a fair reviewer means being very harsh and critical. Sometimes, being a fair reviewer means actually acknowledging when a book is good

When I was “I want him” about a male character im not saying I wanna fuck him. I want him like a spoiled little girl wants a pony, I want to him so I can put him on my shelf for safekeeping, I want him like a good hearty stew on a winter’s evening, I want to put him in a jar and shake it.

I don't know if it needs to be said but if you haven't figured it out yet I don't want any Trump supporters following or interacting with me. Stay the fuck away from me

Sometimes you just have to step back and remind yourself that reading isn’t a competition. If you don’t feel like reading, don’t read. Don’t force yourself to read to meet a monthly quota. Take things at your own pace

Currently reading Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell and my main thought is that tumblr would eat this shit up (it’s a sapphic love story between a shapeshifting monster and a human who is on a quest to slay the shapeshifting monster because of a curse. The human doesn’t know the girl she’s in love with is the shapeshifting monster.)

A reminder to please take a chance on indie authors the same way you might indie films or indie video games. A lot of us work hard to create quality stories that are too subversive or unmarketable for a mainstream audience and if you're tired of the schlock that gets turned out by the big corps your next perfect read could be being peddled by a tiny nonentity on the corner of social media sending posts out on nothing but hope and a prayer. Don't write us off.

Note
do you have any book recs?
I'm currently reading The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath and Macbeth and would recommend both, especially Macbeth, since it is a great read for spooky season.

Since some authors are a little too obsessed with their goodreads ratings, I'm curious to see what rating will make people not want to read a book
#bookblr#it depends tbh#anything under 1.5 stars w a lot of ppl reviewing is just not for me#but then there’s a bunch of books where it’s like 2.3 stars but only a handful of ppl star rated it and even less actually reviewed it#yk?

Getting tired of new books constantly getting marketed as [blank] meets [blank] like why must new releases constantly have to compare themselves to other already existing books instead of being able to have the opportunity to stand on their own

Sometimes, I feel like people over-romanticize the idea of giving a book a five star rating, if you know what i mean
#bookblr#no fr#normalize enjoying things more 🥱#like idk but I had a fabulous time with a lot of stories that weren’t 100% Perfect in Every Way
