The Mousetrap (Agatha Christie play, 1953-Present)
After many years of waiting, today I finally saw Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.
For those of you who don't know, The Mousetrap is the world's longest continuously running play; whose current and only run has been going since 1953.
The play is outstanding and is guaranteed to have everybody in the crowd playing amateur sleuth by about halfway through.
The cast including Cathy Shipton (Duffy in Casualty) and Todd Carty (Tucker in Grange Hill), were all brilliant, and played each part to perfection!
A must for everybody who loves playing detective!

Concept: the queens learning about trick or treating (possibly from their American fans, who lead them to believe that trick or treating, in the UK, is regarded JUST as it is in the USA, as a wholesome, popular neighbourhood activity, rather than as the mild-to-severe nuisance that most people here ACTUALLY see it as.)
And either:
They sort of get the gist (or THINK they get the gist) and end up being like ‘Ok this is basically like mumming right? Yeah that always sounded kind of fun, let’s do it!’ and the police end up getting called because it turns out the queens nearest neighbours are weirdly uptight and unamused when confronted by six women (who they were already a bit iffy about having as neighbours because they’ve heard that they’re actors or performers or dancers or something equally disreputable and they keep very odd hours and their lack of enthusiasm for garden work is bringing down the property values of the whole street and they don’t always open their living room curtains and one of them keeps trying to feed their cat) dressed VERY oddly knocking at their door and trying to scam money off them with a clearly rigged gambling game....
OR they actually go get the gist of it and get really excited at the idea of dressing up and they all end up dressing up in really really niche costumes. So Cathy goes as Johannes Gutenberg and even though she has a little mini model of a printing press made out of a cereal box, NO ONE gets it! Anna goes as Holbein, with a ‘potrait’ of her looking exaggeratedly hot as a joke and the neighbours wonder why she’s carrying around a picture of herself in a frame. And Kitty goes as Mother Shipton and is SO frustrated when people just think she’s dressed as ‘some old woman’! Like NO, she’s a witch! But not just A Witch, The Witch! The BEST witch!
The next year, they decide not to bother with it all and just buy a ton of halloween themed sweets to celebrate at home instead.
