This might be long shot, but the past few weeks I have been trying to find pictures of actors/dancers who have played Meg Giry on Broadway, West End, US Tour and UK Tour, especially from the pre-internet years (1986 to mid-2000's). I noticed that the main cast had individual photographs for the souvenir brochures (especially BW/US Tour). But for some reason these are really hard to find. Luckily I have been able to trace down some of them due to people selling their brochures and posting pictures of the cast page, but I had no luck in finding more. So I am asking the Phantom brochure collectors out there, could you please help me if you have a brochure with clear pictures of one of the following Meg Giry's? Thank you very much!

OK I can't resist sharing my reasoning for each character/candy:
Elinor Kit Kat: Not terribly exciting, but still so so good and universally liked. A very solid candy.
Wentworth Snickers: Has a little something for everyone, the whole package! Though some people can't look past the peanuts.
Fanny Milk Duds: Very sweet, but you gotta work at it and be patient to get the reward, and some people don't see the point in that. They're missing out.
Henry Reese's Cup: The pinnacle of Halloween candy. Everyone is wild about it. Near perfection.
Edward Nestlé Crunch: At first glance, seems a little boring and disappointing, yet every time you bite into one, you're surprised at how much better it is than you remembered. Unassuming yet wonderful.
Catherine Skittles: Bright and sweet and fun.
Edmund Hershey Bar: Ought to be good, and isn't bad, per se, but so so disappointing. Technically not as bad as circus peanuts, but it's a chocolate bar, so you expected so much better from it.
Jane Starburst: Soft and super duper sweet.
Knightley M&Ms: Solid. Not thrilling, but always great.
Brandon Butterfingers: Super sweet and wonderful, but some of its qualities make it a bit polarizing. Pretty unique and dramatic with that sticky yet crunchy thing it has going on that none of the other candy bars do.
Marianne Nerds: Tastes good, but a chaotic mess that gets everywhere.
Darcy Almond Joy: Refined, sophisticated, the candy for grown-ups that you refused to even try when you were a kid because ewww coconut ewww almonds and then you finally grew up and tried it and holy shit you were so wrong this might be your new favorite candy!
Emma Twix: Has everything. Candy and cookie?? Wow. However, occasionally ends up tasting a bit artificial and disappoints you. But still worth eating, because when it's good, it's so good.
Anne Milky Way: My beloved. Sweet but not overly so. Just right. Maybe overlooked for the flashier candies, but always reliable.
Elizabeth Sour Patch Kids: Sweet with a bit of a bite, a little zest, a little zing. Fun and well liked.
Bingley Swedish Fish: Similar to the Starburst in that it's sweet and soft, but not as sweet and not as soft. Has a bit of chew to make you work for the payoff.
Austen heroines and heroes as Halloween candies
Before you get mad at me, this is based on the qualities of the candy itself, NOT the name of the candy. No, I am not saying Fanny is a dud (that's Edmund), nor am I saying Darcy is full of joy, Lizzie is sour, Marianne is a nerd, etc. My choices are rock solid and I am prepared to defend them.
Tumblr media
I didn't pick the candies, just used the chart from here.

Top 20 Queens of Hearts
“I pictured to myself the Queen of Hearts as a sort of embodiment of ungovernable passion - a blind and aimless Fury.” This was Lewis Carroll’s brief description of the arch-villain Alice faces on her quest through Wonderland in the first book. The statement was given in a review entitled “Alice on the Stage,” in which Carroll both provides his feelings about a recent stage adaptation of his works, but also tells the readers about his ideas for what the characters were like in the original books, and how he came to craft them.
In the book, the Queen is undeniably the villain, but she isn’t necessarily the main antagonist; really, there is no singular antagonist in Wonderland, but the Queen comes the closest. Her presence is teased almost from the start, and as the story goes on, and we learn more about her, our anxiety and expectations grow. It’s not till the last third or so of the book that the Queen finally comes into play, but from the moment she appears, she proves to be a force of unstoppable rage, the likes of which few readers have ever seen. Carroll states that the Queen “has only one way of settling all difficulties, great or small,” and that is via execution...and it’s implied she will execute anyone, even her own children! (Yep. The Queen has kids in the book; that’s something I don’t think has made it into almost any version, or at least, not to any significant degree.) The book softens the blow at first by claiming that no one ever actually dies, because the King pardons her victims...but then it turns out the King is not above using the threat of execution himself, and does nothing to halt the Queen in later efforts, so it’s hard to tell how true that statement really is. The Queen of Hearts has become one of literature’s most iconic villainesses: her unfathomable anger and beastly temper make her a force to be reckoned with, and the illustrations featuring her are intensely dynamic. She can be humorous, but she can also be frightening, like so much else in Wonderland, and like so many great villains often are, in fact. Different adaptations and reimaginings in media and literature have reimagined the Queen in numerous ways: some make her nicer, some even make her more terrifying, and some go somewhere down the middle. You’ll find ALL sorts on the entries to come. For the next Wonderland list on my week of countdowns, it’s time for me to give Her Imperial Viciousness the credit she is owed! Now, I should state one more thing: over the years, there ahs been some confusion between the Queen of Hearts and a different character from the books, the Red Queen. They are NOT the same character, but the name is often use interchangeably, with the former often being wrongfully addressed as the latter. For the sake of this countdown, I’m going to be looking not so much at the NAME, but at the CHARACTER: if she’s called the Red Queen, but very obviously meant to be the Queen of Hearts, or even if the two names are used interchangeably but the personality remains that of the one specific figure, then she can count. Takes on the ACTUAL Red Queen from “Through the Looking-Glass” will not be featured. Having said this, allow me to present My Top 20 Portrayals of the Queen of Hearts!
