I have a personal headcanon that Augustus’ parents had a hard time conceiving children. Mrs Gloop couldn’t get pregnant for a long time. When she finally did the baby ended up being very sick and couldn’t put on weight and didn’t make it. When she could finally get pregnant again and it ended up a healthy baby, she ended up spoiling him with food because she was so afraid of losing another child. That’s also why she was the oldest mother out of all the parents (based on the actresses ages at the time)

No but why is Augustus getting killed in the musical so sad to me because they literally mentioned that he “never tried to make a friend” and in the West End when he’s up the pipe he literally says “I’m so lonely!!” LIKE THIS POOR BOY DESERVED NONE OF THAT HE LITERALLY DIED WITH NO FRIENDS. (In the musical version ik he doesn’t die in other versions)

Thinking about some things about CATCF and rewatching the movie, the theory about the characters representing the seven deadly sins seems kind out of place to me.

For many, the order is like this:

Charlie : sloth

Augustus : Gluttony

Violet : Pride

Mike : Wrath

Veruca : Envy

I don't know if this theory is because of the book or the movie, since they come from different authors. But either way, some things seem out of place. I personally don't think Charlie has anything to do with the sloth, and it is not known if Veruca is Envy or Greed, since she wants what others want (The Golden Ticket, Wonka's Squirrels) But at the same time, being a rich girl, many believe that it is greedy and yes, she is very greedy, Nobody mentions if she can be two at once. Lust is also out, if the seven sins are going to be represented, why not all of them? I never knew about this, because the fandom is dead and many forget this theory.

Do the characters represent the seven deadly sins, or are the seven deadly sins represented in the movie? It is seriously necessary that they are the main characters .

But looking at the parents/grandpa, I want to think that the order is like this:

Grandpa George: Sloth (This man literally didn't want to work for his family once he got fired but got out of bed immediately when his grandson won a trip to a fancy factory 😭 )

Scarlett Beauregard : Lust ( I think so because of the way she acted in some of her scenes, flirting with Wonka (and I think Mr Salt) Although this may just be flirtatious, or a slightly more PG version to not represent it as lust really is. )

Mike Teavee : Wrath

Augustus Gloop : Gluttony

Violet Beauregard : Pride

Veruca Salt : Envy ( Again, what she sees that others have, she wants. Seeing that Wonka had trained squirrels and she didn't, she ordered her dad to buy/get them for her. And maybe when she saw the other kids with the golden ticket before her, she ordered her dad to get it. )

Rupert Salt : Greed (?)

This is just my opinion, something I was thinking and needed to share, RIP if it's a flop . This is the opinion of someone who only saw the two movies (70s and 2000s) and never managed to read the book.

Augustus' would be Carnaval Festival and he'd be the only person on the ride enjoying the song

Veruca's is definitely Droomvlucht, and her favourite scene would be Elfentuin

Violet would be at Joris en de Draak all day but ONLY Water/Blue screaming at Mike

Mike would be on Fire/Red screaming back at her

I like to think of Jerry, Cherry & Barry just chilling at like,,, Gondoletta or Pagode or something

Grandpa Joe would also just be chilling but at the Oude Tufferbaan

Herman is still mourning Spookslot

The other Oompa Loompas can always be found staring at the little trains in Diorama

Mrs. Gloop would be maining the horses of Stoomcarousel

Mr. Salt would be fascinated by Volk van Laaf but has to leave because Veruca wants to do another round of Droomvlucht

Mr. Beauregarde would be on Baron 1898 FRONT ROW

Mrs. Teavee would just be glad she can take a break at Raveleijn

Mrs. Bucket would love Sprookjesbos, specifically Meisje met de Zwavelstokjes
