Manifestation Without Woo: Avoiding Unhealthy Thought Patterns
The whole "don't give any attention to the old story, ignore the 3D" advice can get toxic when you end up ignoring real problems, but there is a grain of truth in that advice.
What is that truth, you might ask?
Don't give into rumination, don't entertain catastrophic thoughts, and don't beat yourself up.
Rumination is when you keep thinking about negative stuff for a long period of time. It can be your fears, bad things that happened to you in the past, or unpleasant things about your present that you can't really change right now. It's a very unhealthy behavior, and it's good to practice mindfulness so you can catch yourself if you start doing it. Anyone can ruminate, but it's especially easy to get caught up in it if you have OCD. There's a lot of info on managing rumination out there, which you can search up. Catastrophic thinking is when your brain starts spiraling into worst-case scenarios. For example, you might make a post and someone might respond in an angry way, and you might spiral into fears that you're a horrible person or no one will love you. Another form of catastrophic thinking is spiraling into a fear you can't heal from trauma or toxic indoctrination, and you're doomed to be where you are right now. Beating yourself up is essentially a form of psychological self-harm, where you indulge negative thoughts about yourself. You might do it because you think it'll help you become a better person, or let you atone for your wrongs. (It won't do either.) If you find yourself indulging these kinds of thoughts, you can try the strategies in the articles linked above. One strategy many people on Tumblr have used is deliberately thinking positive thoughts about themselves whenever they catch themselves thinking a negative one. For example, if you find yourself thinking, "I'm so ugly," quickly think to yourself, "I'm incredibly fabulous."
Practicing mindfulness in general is always good, and if you continue struggling with negative thought patterns, it might be good to seek professional help.
And remember, thinking negative thoughts can't make bad things happen on their own. They can be highly stressful and keep you locked in fear, but they can't make bad things manifest out of thin air.

I was having one of those "she swallowed the spider to catch the fly..." worry trains about something absurd in the shower yesterday, and then suddenly I could just see The Face my psychiatrist makes when I describe those thoughts to her. The Face that usually precedes a question like "So, would you say you've been having more catastrophic thoughts since our last appointment?" Stopped me dead in my tracks. 😂 I was just like, "Oh yeah, that is ridiculous catastrophic thinking. Alright, moving on." Counting this one as a win!
(I should note it's not a bad or judgmental or even obvious face. It's just that we've been working together for almost 15 years, so I've picked up on her habits over time.)

I just need to take a moment to express how proud I am of my staff.
I slaved day-and-night giving it 110% to turn that shit-hole store around for the better with no training, having to figure out everything out on my own. I worked overtime every week, came in on days off and covered shifts so my team wouldn’t struggle. I also dedicated my time into every single individual I employed to make sure they knew they were valued, appreciated and most importantly, cherished.
Yesterday, I finally quit my job after a year of toxicity and lack of care for my store by my bosses and the owners. Within 24 hours, only four employees remain. Everyone else followed suit behind me and took a stand for themselves, resigning as well. Not to mention many reached out to me saying they want to work for me once I finish training at my new job and am assigned a permanent store.
Holy shit, y’all, I absolutely love them.
These individuals have been such a blessing in my life the last year and I’m so proud that they are able to see their worth like I do.

Timmy doesn't like how they taste. No matter who, how or where they're made, the muffins are all the same to him. It's frustrating because he knows they shouldn't be.
And each time he walks away feeling immense disappointment. Like something should've happened.
He does his best to avoid eating them, but, Timmy found that people react weirdly when you say you don't like muffins. So he eats them anyways. He's unfortunately surrounded by muffin-nuts.
