Jana and Elena are BESTIESSS! Elena reminds Jana a ton of Maeve, and she loves getting to hang out with Elena when she's younger. And ofc Elena loves how excited Jana always is to see her, and she gets super excited.

Elena always goes to Bruna when she's injured and cheers her up. The forward tends to get really upset and in her head, and one day Elena toddles over to her and asks to play and manages to get Bruna feeling a little brighter. Every time she gets a knock or anything, Elena always wants to go over and kiss it better for her.

Salma panics hardcore whenever Elena is around. She's terrible with kids, she always feels super awkward and NEVER knows what to do, so the whole idea of hanging out with a child really scares her. But for some reason Elena LOVES Salma, which generally creates a funny little oxymoron there.

Pina and Elena are both totally on each others wavelengths, so they are constantly screaming together and one is chasing the other. Pina will sneak up behind Elena and tag her, and then run away. They both live for the chaos.

Elena loves when Cata picks her up, because she gets to be tall and see what everyone is doing at training. The goalkeeper will sometimes steal Elena and use her as a weight when they are in the gym, and it always makes her dissolve into giggles. She loves it, its the best.

Martina also gets kind of nervous around Elena, but because she doesn't want to mess anything up with her. She looks up to Mapi and Ingrid a lot, and the thought of their daughter getting hurt on her watch is her worst nightmare. So she comes off as super protective of the little girl, which is very endearing to both Ingrid and Mapi.

In her formative years Rioga was a feral child, her family Exiled leaving her behind in a panic; the wilds raised her. Her primal temperament was sculpted by an elder druid passing on his gift. Passing her trials as a Kaldorei by saving the life of a fawn rather than further harming it for a meal in the lake of Elune’ara, Elune blessed her with the gift of healing aside from feral.

BC: The opening of the black portal would have her dislike for Medivh and mages for destroying the environment, giving her dislike early on for Draenei and the Kirin Tor by association with arcane magic. She'd possibly make her feel as if we were wasting resources on aiding them in the outlands, until coming upon the black temple with Illidan and learning the true cost of life. Her ability to use Common would still be limited having her come off as crass to other alliance she comes in contact with. Knowing Rioga at this point in time, she'd be rather hostile or frustrated with most unless close to the character. She'd be more likely to have contact with other Kaldorei.

Lich: Her previous hate for mages grows to all of arcane magic during the Nexus War. Malygos having had turned his aggressions into Azeroth, Rioga strictly blames arcane users doing this upon everyone. Absolutely hostile, she turns her frustrations unto the Scourge completely giving herself giving herself over to the war effort. Rioga would be fully against connections with mages and very weary of death knights.

Cata: Rioga is deeply upset over the global impacts caused by Deathwing, with the world's shamans having joined to repair the harm caused to the land and its elements a deepening respect for shamanistic allies. Rioga had joined the aid in Gilneas helping the affected learn to control what she considered a gift, always having a dangerous interest in pack form. She had liked Thrall’s leadership for the fact he was more interested in the greater good of all but could not shake her hatred for the horde to look past that. Upon Garrosh’s use of arcane to inflict a toll on Theramore, Rioga had seen Jaina as someone to rally with letting up with some of her bias with mages.

Panda: Rioga had an interest in the teachings of the Pandarian, melting away some of the bloodlust she had been building into wanting to invest in pack form, inspired by the fact her youngest sibling had enrolled herself as a monk. She was deeply invested in the execution of Garrosh, leaving a crack in her belief in Varian as a leader; and a strong distaste for Wrathion. Preferring the warlord is punished even if it means she must take on the legion and horde herself.

WoD : Rio took the call to aid in setting up the garrison doing what she could to gather resources, to relax from a day’s efforts she would drink with allies boasting and telling stories of previous fights to numb herself from oncoming conflicts ahead. Upon the death of Velen in this timeline, Rioga is fueled with disgust for the atrocities done; she takes careful measures to begin her hunt with her fellow Kaldorei and her personal need for justice. During the destruction of cities in Talador, she resided in Shattrath giving aid to residents during the time of conflict and scouting for any signs of Gul’dan’s presence. Upon further destruction and invasions, she gives way from her mission to protect the sick and the weak. Reuniting with her sisters despite the chaos, their meeting was cut short they rushed to provide aid.

Legion: Upon the death of the king, Rioga takes to Val’sharah adding to the efforts to save the the wild gods. Debilitated from the sheer loss of life she experienced by the previous attack by Gul’dan in Draenor she takes to the grove exasperated and morose. She finds herself changing, her grasp on language and ability to be socially inept from where she had been as a child became muted; reverting to something more similar to her former self. Quietly sullen amidst the tall grass favoring her feral form despite the war continuing.

I'm really about to throw a fucking kinnie tantrum. Rest of my posts were from me I'm about to let the tulpa take over. "who is your black prince." What the fuck. What the fuck was all this for then? What the fuck was Cata for? Fuck was MoP for or BFA? What was killing N'zoth for? If I see <The Black Prince> over top of any head but the motherfucker who spent years as fugitive of the Alliance because HE was the black prince, I really might shoot up Neltharus myself.

Who's the Black Prince?? The only black dragon they remembered!! The one they kidnapped. The one they physically beat. The one half the playerbase is sexually obsessed with while the other half wants to torture him to death. That was what Sabellian missed out on: the opportunity to be the target of everyone's laser-focused derangement. That was what Sabellian left him to deal with alone.

That's what being the face of the Black dragonflight means. That's how you earn a unique model, a unique title, a unique place on everyone's shitlist. You're born subhuman, you live inhuman, and have to go above and beyond human in service, so that when you've finally wrung yourself dry of every bit of yourself you have left, SOMEONE might decide you're worthy of being forgiven for your nature. Someone might slow clap over your corpse, and you can only hope they won't burn you with the rest of the irredeemables.

Have we ever seen that with Sabellian? What HAVE we seen of Sabellian? Did he ever try his absolute hardest, risk his life in the first few years of his life, not even realize how much those first few years mattered because the sanctity of his untouched, innocent, empty mind was so violated that we STILL see people arguing that he was never really a child? Did we ever see him wonder the same? Did he ever try his absolute hardest and fail for reasons outside his control, try to pick up the pieces, and make it worse for reasons he couldn't comprehend? Does he know how easily the last black dragon, face of the flight, gets blamed for other people's decisions?

I see people mention sometimes that Wrathion has never felt what it's like to be Aspect. He's never physically felt the weight of all of Azeroth on his shoulders. I'd argue that he doesn't have to.

I Have Too Many Opinions. ep. 1

lmao. i got encouragement to post my opinions on fandom things and now i want to make a miniseries doing just that. so here i am. doing just that.

im putting it under the cut cuz this was 4 whole pages including the disclaimer. yes i put a disclaimer and i explain why.

Anyways, here is the first piece in what inevitably will become fandom info dump, this time on thomas astruc’s writing on miraculous ladybug. but only some of my opinions cuz we would be here all day otherwise.

So… a disclaimer before I begin… 

I do not hate Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir (yes i'm using their government name). I am quite a fan of the show actually despite its faults. I am also older than the intended audience but was obviously younger when the show first aired which is how my interest was piqued (the fact that its been 6 years and only 3 seasons says more about the show than me being a fan for that amount of time but also i never want to rush content creators cuz they're doing their best) and due to my age, there will be inherent bias in my approach of what i'm about to say as there is in EVERY opinion. The fact that it is an opinion should imply the presence of bias but most people tend to lack the critical thinking skills required to draw that conclusion ANYWAYS…

If I did hate the show I would not have this blog nor would I be even writing this because i tend to not give more than 2 seconds of thought to things i actively dislike (some of yall should give this a try) and i'm allowed to like things that are designed for an audience that i was originally a part of but grew out of. (I don't suddenly stop liking things because I'm older despite what many younger fans seem to believe about older audiences. I also don't need to be ‘allowed’ to do anything cuz i wasn't asking for permission anyways.)

This will not be character bashing, astruc bashing nor fandom bashing cuz, again, that would imply i hate any of those elements and if i did, i would not dedicate brainpower to them. Analyses and criticisms of media are fun and engaging and required if you wish to produce good enjoyable content. Now most of this should be already assumed and self-explanatory but people on the internet like to play morality roulette roll dice on purity culture and I rather have documentation that I am in fact not bullying fictional 14 year olds or a grown man. But alas, people get trigger happy whenever someone has less than 1000000% positive opinions on something they like and will throw out words they can't define (gaslight, baiting, toxic, problematic, gatekeep etc) in an attempt to defend their blind devotion, 

which is not needed, if you like something you never have to defend it, even if i don't like it. If you respond to anything I post saying you disagree with me, I will not argue with you. I won't debate back and forth and try to convince you that the things you like are wrong. Unless you are being absolutely tone deaf to what i'm saying, you wont get a negative reaction from me. So don't try to fish for a fight. Please. I got metaphorical hands for days and I'm mean, you don't want me hurting your feelings on the internet. Do yourself the favour. Difference of opinion is how we get diversification in media and is inherently a good thing. Now that that's out of the way, please don't ever let me have to say that again. I beg.

Now onto the fun stuff

I didn't know what I wanted as a first topic so my trusty internet friend @moonlitceleste suggested astruc’s writing… 

AND BOI do i got some opinions on ole tommy boi. Again I don't hate the dude. In fact, he has worked on a few shows that had defined my childhood, including but not limited to W.I.T.C.H. (all eps available on youtube for those interested, 2 seasons, general fun time all around).

So I don't think he’s scum of the earth but I do think his approach to writing mlb specifically has more misses than hits.

The first big miss is that he has no idea how to write 14 year old girls. At all. Almost every girl he has ever written feels like some terrible archetype built entirely for marketability and childish projection and pubescent self-insert (kind of). He has never been a 14 year old girl. I have. In fact when the show first aired, I WAS around the (assumed) age of the mlb characters. The behaviour he passes off as quirky or awkward or just the character’s genuine personality tend to perpetuate harmful stereotypes of teen girls found in the media and are never actually addressed as harmful. they just get swept under the rug. Marinette’s exuberant collage of teen heart throb model boi Adrien Agreste and her very painful almost fan worship she has of him (which flip flops like a paper sandal in the rain) being portrayed as a cute school girl crush uwu, Chloe being the y7 Regina George, Alya being the token best friend of colour with her ‘sassy’ personality (i want y'all to imagine me eyerolling so hard i bust a vessel in my eye), Kagami being the very damaging Perfect Asian Child stereotype. And before y'all get on your dusty soap box and defend going on about “BUT IT'S FOR CHILDREN”,,,, know this.

 i don’t give a solid fuck. 

Not one. 

Children arent stupid. Children are always going to remember the richy bitchy blonde who bullies the art kid, and the big kid, and the shy kid, and the non white kids, and was only nice to her equally rich white friend who she probably had a crush on or was only ever civil to her equally white lapdog. They're going to remember the half asian girl who was never allowed to actually be asian or the only black girl who existed solely as a soundboard for enabling bad habits or chastising the main character for the same habits she enables in the first place (boi aint THAT a topic for later). Like do i really need to explain that alya chastising marinette for taking max’s spot in gamer just to play with adrien rings absolutely hollow when she actively encourages her to sabotage the contest she’s in just so Kagami doesn't win?? Like I don't have to explain that right?? Again kids arent stupid and its quite something that Mari gets chastised for proving herself the best video game player regardless of her intentions just cuz it comes at the expense of max’s feelings/ego but is actively encouraged to sabotage not only kagami but herself by extension cuz kagami is ‘competition.’ Adrien is not a trophy to be won. And no I don't expect 14 yrs old to be perfect and to always make good decisions but these decisions are never addressed as being bad decisions. they get swept under the rug cuz those decisions were necessary for the ‘plot’ but astruc can barely keep characterization consistent and his characters suffer for it and it's the same children you preach are watching it that suffer as well. Cuz guess what? I KNOW 14 yr olds aren't like that cuz i've been there done that (this is the last time i'm saying that i promise) so I know astruc is just metaphorically throwing darts to figure out who says and does what without consideration for pre established personalities to drive the stalemate plot along. The same kids you say are watching this don't know that that's not how preteens work and will absorb and internalize those dynamics like baking soda and vinegar. Cata-fucking-strophically. 

And I haven't even gotten to the boys yet. Which honestly doesn't require much explanation anyways cuz they suffer the same fate as the girls. Tired archetypes with nothing to give them life. Nino falls into Adrien’s person of colour token best friend who dates the female lead’s person of colour token best friend so they can have cute double dates uwu. Except the plot goes nowhere and we have no inclination of romantic development beyond moments that only act to actively convince me to anti ship the lovesquare (i don't want to do that so i self indulge in fanon that actually cares about the characters and plot. may i interest you in True Sight on AO3?). Max is the residential nerd but it doesn't matter (cuz he and everyone are dumbed down for the sake of ‘plot’), kim is the sports jock (which interestingly subverts the asian comedic relief stereotype but only barely) and luka is cute older guy ™ that wears black nail polish and is in a band. The point of all this is to say there is no depth in the characters. It's especially blatantly obvious with the characters astruc doesn't like (chloe). Again, it being a show for kids is not an excuse to be absolved of putting effort into the characters you make.

This is one of the biggest misses astruc has. I haven't even gone into all the nuances of this particular miss. And i havent gone into how that works against him in the plot either. Mostly because the plot itself hasn't gone anywhere and partially because I wanted to go into the plot (or lack thereof) separately as its own miss. 

AND BOI is it a miss. 

SO home boy astruc wanted to reap the benefits of a serial show with ‘engaging’ plot without putting in any of the work to make a linear storyline and relying on the episodic format for, again, marketability. You can't have the best of both worlds, you are not Avatar: The Last Airbender. Which btw has a lot less episodes and a desired end goal that didn't involve top dollar. Legend of Korra did but that's not the point and it had its failings with that too. I challenge you, tell me how many episodes actually contribute towards a plot point or introduce new thematic elements to the show? Can you name them? I can and I'm going to include the plot points that moved the story in some direction if only temporarily. Yes only temporarily for some of these and i will explain later. (if you're in the server you already saw this list *wink*)

25/26. Origins- self explanatory, the beginning of the story, 

24. Volpina- introduction of the grimoire and Master Fu (kind of) and no, Lila is not a plot point,

28. The Collector- proper introduction of Master Fu,

 77/78. Love Eater/Battle of Miraculous- Marinette becomes guardian and other heroes lose their miraculous,

New York Special- other heroes exist and there is an American miraculous box,

That's 21 episodes. 21 out of a heaping 78 plus 2 specials. Everything else was just your typical akuma of the day episode and everything that happened outside that had no lasting consequences on the plot thanks to the miraculous status quo. Was it entertaining to watch Lila stir the plot of the class dynamic? Hell yeah. Too bad it meant nothing by the end of the episode cuz we were struck with miraculous status quo. She literally doesn't appear again until Heroes Day. that is from episodes 25 all the way to 51, she means nothing and yet she is treated with the severity of a b-villain/rival thing. She means nothing by the end of Volpina if I'm being honest. She is only relevant for 20 mins of episode time she’s in then it's back to magic status quo that undoes any shift in dynamics and relationships. It's like Spongebob who can't get his driver’s license. The worst part is I actually like Lila and I wish the story treated her with the seriousness we as an audience are expected to treat her with. Despite being painfully inconsequential by the end of each of the 3?? 4?? episodes she’s in, it's entertaining to watch a character create drama just because. 

Too bad it means nothing.

Astruc is constantly building up suspense to something ‘important’ only for it to not deliver and fans are constantly having the rug pulled out from under us. Oblivio teased us with a reveal only that gets undone cuz memory akuma. Chat Blanc teased us with romantic development but that gets undone cuz time travel bullshit. Feast introduced more miraculous lore and the history of the guardians but that means nothing by the next episode or ever (i'm not including any reference to the season 4 trailer cuz i've been around the block a few times and im familiar with this lil dancy dance). Heroes Day teased us with a possible future team of heroes but that gets undone in Battle of Miraculous cuz ????? why?? (here's why; astruc was having a jolly ole time letting us know how irredeemable Chloe is at the expense of shooting his own stagnant plot in the foot. Again, discussion for later.)

Too bad anything that slightly swerves off course from the akuma of the day gets undone or ignored. Too bad nothing has any lasting consequence. I mean, if anything did, the episodes would have had a consistent order and release schedule so im not scrambling to watch the leaked ep in Portuguese or something while the french dub is two episodes behind while the english version hasnt even been dubbed. I really wonder how he plans to conclude the show when he’s so afraid to step out of the corner he painted himself in.

Again, not going into nuances. If you want you can ask for more specifics (i doubt anyone would) but this is really just a slightly detailed general overview of my opinions on astruc’s writing. 

I was going to include another miss in his approach to this show but imma save that for another time.

Hung Tung-Lu; Y2K Cult Icon

Hung Tung-Lu

Hung Tung-Lu is a Taiwanese artist with a great vision and great use of his talent to create art that meshed well with the era of which he was apart of. What I want to write most about in terms of Hung is that he focuses on pop culture icons, digital avatars, and themes of religion mixed with science. This seems to be a lot, but ultimately it’s about explaining how progressive his thought process was, and how despite his invisibility, this is how he became a cult icon of the Y2K era of art and design.

The very roots of Hung’s ethos is rooted in his desire to manifest “new”. He is working in an era where everything is rapidly changing, specifically young Taiwanese people are being able to interact with the world at large via the consumerism facilitated by Taiwan’s industrialization and globalization. Therefore, Japanese media experiences an influx, the internet takes off and changes the face of human interaction and sense of identity, and also the new kids are shopping with the desire of reaching some sort of emotional nirvana within themselves. This is all immediately evident in his work.

I would like to further say that beyond this representation in his work, one pretty prominent element of Hung’s work or aesthetic is how it further reflects this attitude of progressivism. He graduated in 1999 with degrees in painting and the plastic arts. Thus, much of his work is in bronze, porcelain, ceramic sculpture. However, in reference to the zeitgeist of which he lived, he pushed beyond the barriers of painting and sculpture and also worked in photography, produced lenticular or chromogenic prints, and his sculptures became 3D, digital “renders” instead, with his most prominent character, his avatar Xiao Hung, occupying both a more traditional sculptural form and also a digital avatar form as well.

The Birth of Xiao Hung (2002-2006)

I believe that his original characters such as Xiao Hung, his interpretation of Asura (an Indian deity in constant battle with supernatural forces), and his little girl androids, are the most compelling element of his work beyond his representation of the female anime characters he also features, such as Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion. They possess very detailed and well-fleshed out stories, especially when it comes to Xiao Hung. Xiao Hung is commonly believed to be a little girl, but as the artist explained, Xiao is “a virtual neutral character, no gender, and no age. I was not a child.” (Meng Mengzhen) This character is undoubtedly a reference to Hung’s own desire to manifest the new in a different form, which is why they share the same family name of “Hung”. Xiao is a genetically engineered clone who also has become an alien bounty hunter and a young god. To me, the character is also a more abstracted Hung Tung-Lu, as already established by the artist himself.  

More specifically, it is known that Hung Tung-Lu is a true internationalist. He is someone who has moved around a lot and worked in different cities and countries, and has also been personally exposed to international tragedies, such as 9/11. Therefore, Xiao Hung and even Asura’s adventures through space and New York and their violent confrontation with invaders or aliens could be considered more fantastical retellings of Hung Tung-Lu’s own life experiences. Further, Xiao being a clone that has been destroyed but also reborn many, many of times with many iterations of herself taking on new identities and purposes, she can be a representation of the Taiwanese Youth’s regular transformation via consumerism. Further, her physically reaching nirvana with her body occupying and spawning divine elements, she can also be a metaphor for this nirvana-like state achieved via the obtainment of a consumer object. Also, of course, she is Hung Tung-Lu’s new persona, who is more reflective of the state of popular iconography of the time (Asian, anime girls).

I would say that, ultimately, there are many layers to the ethos and aesthetic of mixed media artist Hung Tung-Lu. His work is riddled with progressions in the forms of art he studied, with painting becoming photography and prints, sculpture becoming digital renders, and also his work riddled with metaphors laced with detailed narratives. I believe that he might be one of the artists that best manifested the zeitgeist in which he worked within. Consumerism, the Internet, and their effects on the contemporary human experience is quite relevant to us all in light of existing in the late-stage capitalism era. Usually hyper-consumerism is represented in purely and obviously negative light, but that is not the case with Hung’s work. He reflects the innermost state or desire of the young consumer, which is their desire to reach an emotional state of euphoria and to live within a utopia that reflects the beauty that anime, video games, and shopping can offer. But that does not mean that there is no conflict. Xiao Hung dies multiple times, and teen girl Asura must fight alien conquerors in New York City. But yet, she fights on roller skates and with a Super Soaker.

In these kind of moments, I would almost think that perhaps, Hung Tung-Lu is a true artistic genius. To represent so plainly and recognizably the naivete of the consumer who believes that they can fight to survive the obvious dystopia of this world armed with objects of joy and entertainment such as a Super Soaker (a common toy of the 90’s and 2000’s), I can see why, despite his invisibility as an artistic figure, Hung Tung-Lu is a cult icon of the Y2K era of art and design.

I say that Hung is invisible because there are but a few images of him on the Internet, his personal website is not functional (at least not on my computer), and nobody knows where he really resides. He could be in Shanghai, Taipei, or NYC, and we wouldn’t really know because he’s so quiet (with much to do with the oppression of artists in Taiwan). I did manage to find a video of him during a presentation on Absolut Vodka’s relationship with the fine arts since Andy Warhol (Hung Tung-Lu became one of the first Asian artists to collaborate with a popular spirits brand, which is why he was present). But it was a very short glimpse of him. The fact that Hung Tung-Lu is such an enigma, but yet somewhat influential with a legacy of really pushing boundaries, is likely one of the main other reasons why I consider him to be one of my favorite artists.

He and Sonehati, who I will discuss in my last entry, are idols to me because of the fact that they render and I am working very hard to get on their level. And so in seeing their work, such as the many adventures of Xiao Hung, I am greatly motivated by them, and why I chose them as my two last artists to spotlight on my blog. I am hoping that more people can know about them and appreciate them as much as I do in reflecting on their work with great detail.

I’ve succesfully tried everything: golf, swimming, tennis, rollerblading. A couple of years ago I found my love for weight training, running and boxing and now I go to the gym 4 times a week and have the best time.

No, this is actually nice a story. My mom always said that she wanted me to be able to choose if a wanted to pierce my ears when I was old enough but when I was 2 years old I had surgery to fix something in my ears and the nurses thought I looked “plain” without my ears pierced and wanted to surprise my parents so they pierced my ears during surgery. My mom almost passed out when she saw me, however, I didn’t like them and kept removing them until they closed up, so now I don’t have any piercings.

In school they were history and english.

2. Relationship with Pratt, Hudson, and Whitehorse?

Whitehorse feels like her very tired second dad who has to like put up with her antics from time to time but he is very caring towards her from the moment she arrives. She was lowkey afraid of joining the Sheriff’s Department because she figured they were already like a family and she would feel a bit like an outsider but since she was the rookie and the baby, Whitehorse kind of took her under his wing jfdkhfdj she came to appreciate him a lot and probably called him dad on more than one occasion.

Hudson was like…the big sister figure she never had? Her strong personality was also something that really drew Cata in so she may have had a bit of a slight crush when she first joined. I feel like Joey is kind of the more level headed one in the squad so she always made sure Cata didn’t get in much trouble and sometimes that meant calling her out and stopping her before she did something stupid. After a while they became friends and occassionally had a couple drinks together after work!

Pratt is her best frend… I already rambled a bit about their relationship because I’m oddly invested in it fhdskh so to make it short they bonded after being sent on patrol together on her first week and they have a very close relationship which annoys everyone because of their occasional shenanigans at the station which mostly consist in annoying banter, throwing paper balls and lil paper planes at each other across the room (sometimes hitting other people in the process), tuning to the radio and humming and whistling off-tune and constant playful teasing even during serious meetings. Pratt was also Cata’s first actual friend in the county so they ended up hanging out a whole lot.

7. Did they have time to find romance amidst the chaos? How did they do it?

She did….she fell in wuv with the resident sexy outlaw Charlemagne Victor Boshaw IV…. It was honestly not planned because Cata never really had much luck in terms of romance so she kinda tossed aside the possibility BUT things changed babeys. Anyway they obviously clicked together super fast because hello single braincell people unite!! Cata rolled into the trailer park and saw that guy blasting disco music at full volume and was like guess I gotta marry him now! 

All jokes aside, he proved to be like a support pillar to her after everything that she had to endure so she was forever thankful for it! Kind of like he made her forget about how fucked up everything was and how he reminded her to sleep and rest and take some time to care after herself from time to time and also subconsciously took her mind off stuff whenever he shared one of his colourful life stories. And Cata is very fun to have around so Sharky probably also had the time of his life hanging out with her and just idk having a new friend who liked him enough to bring him along anytime she could y’know? Since they are also both extremely open with their feelings they just find out they are super confident around each other almost from the get go so it’s just very easy to talk about stuff and open up and knowing the other person won’t judge them.

8. Feelings about Joseph?

She doesn’t trust him one bit and she doesn’t really buy into the whole “I heard a voice” story, she just thinks he’s taking advantage of people and that he’s not making any good. She does however kinda agree with him on the whole collapse thing? Like not in a “the apocalypse is gonna come NOW” but like…she does believe things are very fragile and could go to shit at any moment now. She just didn’t expect it to happen so soon or at all fhdsfs

9. Feelings about the other Seeds?

John: she absolutely can’t stand him fksdjfhs he manages to get on her nerves and for that he deserves an actual award. I think the reason she just…dislikes him so much is that he is the only one who managed to really touch a nerve and like…get into very deep issues she has that she would rather just not think about?  Like the whole “you need to confess your sins, atone, cleanse and purify yourself” thing was just like turning the knife a little and it really managed to upset her even though John probably didn’t exactly know why. It also didn’t help being dragged inside the bunker the first time and seeing Hudson all tied up and being unable to help her, it really made her blood boil.

Faith: she has very complicated feelings towards her because on one hand Cata knows she is manipulative and cannot be trusted and on the other hand she kind of…sees parts of her past self on Faith? When she told her “I was seventeen, I was just a child” it kind of made her stop right on her tracks and think a lot? Like sure maybe Faith was lying but if she wasn’t then perhaps things could have been different for her had he had the chance to make different choices? At the end of the day Cata knows she has to stop her but I think it’s kind of bittersweet in a way.

Jacob: by far the one she feels more strongly about, for better or for worse. Coming from a military family herself she is pretty familiar with PTSD and the troubles that come with it. She has seen her father and older brothers come back from their destinations and how sometimes they just weren’t the same people that left, so she kind of...understands how Jacob struggled with it? I wouldn’t say she feels sorry but she does wonder what would have happened had he had the chance to continue with therapy and getting help. If he would have been a different man, if things could have been different for him. At the same time it kind of scares him? because she can’t help but wonder if something similar could have happened to one of her brothers, if it could still happen to them, and that....kind of terrifies her. But any feelings of “sympathy” she might have had towards him were like...absolutely discarded after seeing Pratt again because looking at him broke her heart a lot, especially because she feels super guilty from leaving him behind and not being able to help him until the end.

11. Which canon ending did they choose in-game, and would you have changed the ending at all?

She chose the resist ending because she is too damn stubborn and prideful to back down and if she already took down half the cult she might as well finish the job. I would have obviously changed the ending so that she could have gone back to “normal” with no nuclear apocalypse OR at least share the bunker with Sharky and her other friends so she didn’t have to spend the next 17 years together with Father Joe and his greasy manbun!

blake is one of those people who you would want to consider your ride or die. fiercely protective of their allies and loved ones, they are prone to giving it their all when it comes to being a loyal companion. often blunt and rather detached from strangers, they may seem like they want absolutely nothing to do with anyone or anything. though blake practices the habit of keeping to themself most of the time, that does not ultimately mean they want to be kept alone. they just... have a bit of a difficult time putting themself out there in the longrun.

though their spirit has been broken time and time again, its resilience is absolutely astounding. a fiery passion in which from the embers sparks a brand new life into them. blake belladonna is a fighter– a survivor. they will do everything and anything they can for the good of themself and for those they protect in the process, even after all they have been through.

something your muse struggles with: as it stands, blake struggles with making impulsive decisions. reason being is that said decisions tend to lead to destruction– whether it be throwing a wrench in a relationship in thinking they were doing some good, or getting themself physically hurt in the process because they were trying to make things right. your muse’s greatest strength: blake is very good at handling high-stress situations, coupled with listening to others woes and hardships. they are usually the one to try and talk their friends and allies through their struggles and offer moral support in turn. or if you don’t want any advice, they’re just happy to sit and listen if you need it.

such is the tale of a young soul whose destiny alone weaves their story for them. a child born into forlorn darkness; cruel, unforgiving, immoral by all means. it’s from the very beginning they knew this world is not meant for them. yet all the while, they know they must make it her own. blake fights to survive against the world that punished them based on simple presence and undeniable biology. constantly battered and spat at, blamed by humanity for being absolutely worthless.

the route to which they walked beside one another would soon turn into a dark and twisted path of punishment and abuse. slowly blake had begun to realize that adam was not the man he pleaded he was. he promised change time and time again; to be a better person, to stop lashing out, and that he would always love her no matter what.

that was when they knew they had to escape.

it was a routine heist that allowed for blake to sever the tie between them and their ex-partner. aboard the train car they sat by their lonesome, all so they could finally set in motion their own plans for the future. they would gain access at the prestigious beacon academy to become a huntsman; an individual who swore to protect the public from grimm and petty crime surrounding it.

what they didn’t expect though was to form a bond so strong that she would gain another family in their wake. several members in fact; though team JNPR and SSSN were not often spoken of, they had definitely been a big part of aiding them grow as a person. for nearly a year team RWBY had become their rock; her overwhelming support of who they were and the ideals that they fought for. even when blake was at their lowest, their teammates were always there to help pick them back up out of their depressive slump. they were everything to them. and they promised that she would never again run from the fray.

… seems like that promise didn’t stand a chance the first time around.

an onset terrorist attack hit beacon during its annual vytal festival. amongst the parties involved stormed an ally of the white fang splinter group… one lead none other by adam himself. adam had (partially) exacted his revenge, stabbing blake in her stomach, and severing the arm of her partner yang xiao long. luckily for blake, she had enough aura left to carry her incapacitated teammate to safety.

this had all been the beginning of the end.

over the course of the next few months team RWBY had been separated. blake had run off to their home island of menagerie in order to protect the ones they loved the most, sun being their surprise ally who followed them throughout their journey of self-discovery. after many egregious battles and pleas to bear arms against the corrupted white fang, blake had found themself unexpectedly reunited with her teammates once more whilst battling at haven academy.

this time, there were no empty promises. even through all her fear and regret blake had vowed to stay by their team’s side. just as intended.

finding out that the very world they lived in was in mortal peril was just the icing on the proverbial cake. as both her team and company venture throughout remnant, they find themselves discovering even more secrets, pushing them into even more dangerous situations as time grows ever shorter.

they find that all roads had lead to atlas. a self-proclaimed land of opportunity; a militant government that had been grasped by an iron fist by a man of similar name. salem was coming, she was coming-- no. she was already there. she had always been there, keeping them all under her watchful gaze. everything within those two days, all they had fought for felt like a mere lifetime. so much had happened within those 48 hours, all of them spent sleepless and pushing forward towards a goal that seemed merely unachievable. evacuate the citizens of mantle from their absolute destruction. keep the relic out of distrusting hands, so that many may have a chance to live instead of a pocket of people who were kept on a pedestal.

while team rwby and company were able to get people to safety by means of seemingly impossible travel, there had been… a wrench in their seemingly foolproof plan. (he did say not to fall into the abyss. that was a reminder that was etched into your brain from the beginning). for falling, in their eyes, meant inexistence as they knew it. all of them had fought tooth and nail against their enemy, burnt in embers and ash. one whose greed surpassed them wholly.

and they all. fell. down.

powers / abilities:

semblance (shadow): think of it to be similar to shadow clones. though when blake uses their semblance, their “clones” are actually made of some type of matter and are not just illusions. they use them as more of a defense mechanism, as they only last for a brief amount of time, or until the clone is physically destroyed. these clones can also be infused with elemental dust (i.e. turn into stone, become solid ice, explode with fire).

aura: a natural shield which a huntsman’s body generates after being unlocked. it has the power to heal wounds over time depending on the severity of the injury. aura has also shown the ability to repel objects (such as bullets or shrapnel), though with a cost. this shield can easily be broken once worn away during battle, or after a huntsman has become exhausted. the only way to replenish it fully is with rest and nourishment.

inherent abilities:

night vision: being of feline faunus heritage, blake has the natural ability to see extremely well in the dark.

items / weapons:

gambol shroud: similar to that of a sickle-and-chain, blake’s signature weapon is basically the swiss army knife of remnant. it may act as a cleaver when sheathed; though still having a sharp edge that could do the trick. when unsheathed though it becomes a deadly double bladed edge katana, the hilt being a glock pistol as well. with a ribbon attached to gambol shroud they may freely swing it in range of their enemies, using the recoil of the gun as well to aid them.

dust cartridge (addition): given to them by their teammate weiss schnee. as stated earlier, dust are crystals charged with elemental properties. blake can enhance their bullets' impact and devastation by injecting the dust into their weapon for extremely limited use. this addition is usually a last resort.

gold ring: faunus folklore by word of mouth is common among the community residing in menagerie. legend tells of a faunus princess and her human lover, fated to never become one due to the death of her human. when she heard news of his passing upon the battlefield, the princess threw both herself and the ring she wore in his honor off the tallest cliff the island could provide. during a fishing trip with their mother blake had found this ring in the belly of a large tuna. whether or not it was coincidental or truly fate was left to be determined. blake currently has this ring kept in their jacket pocket, occasionally wearing it on their pinky finger or as a necklace.

For the multi-warden AU I’m thinking about the dynamics between all of my kids and like......hm.

Iveta, Avrian, and Catalina start out silent and sullen from being violently ripped away from everything they’ve known, while Jade is running around going “EVERYTHING IS SO COOL” because she’s been locked up in a tower all her life. She’s kind of an emotionally unintelligent dipshit but she can read the others well enough to know they’ve been through Some Shit and doesn’t try to badger them or break them out of themselves yet. She instantly hits it off with Alistair. Catalina is still really the main force behind bringing others into the group; accepting Leliana quickest, pushing for Sten and Zevran to come along.

Avrian and Iveta quietly bond over wanting to die, losing people they loved, and never being able to go home again. They actually might have a brief fling before it’s obvious that Avrian is head-over-heels for Morrigan. Avrian’s stubborn faith that Tamlen is alive helps give Iveta some sort of hope that Fergus might have escaped Ostagar. They have very different styles of getting things done and dealing with people, but they’re the older of the group and they don’t immediately jump to trying to tear into each other when they disagree in what should be done in a situation, which does happen a lot. Running into Tamlen crushes Iveta, too, because again, she’s thinking of Fergus, and if Avrian with all his faith got this, what is left for her?

Catalina gets closest to Jade at first, and they bond over realizing that Jade was from Denerim once upon a time. They commiserate over Templars and city guards and Jade teaches Catalina about magic. They’re the ones starting bar fights or street brawls when strangers say something untoward.

Iveta and Jade have the most distant relationship. They don’t really have anything in common, not in background or upbringing or circumstances of bringing them to the wardens, and after all that there’s a severe personality clash.

Catalina and Iveta don’t start off well. Catalina instantly pegs Iveta for “noble birth, used to having power, likes having power, avoid.” She’s not outright mean, because Iveta isn’t mean and she’s deep in grief. As she starts to open up more, Catalina starts poking at her, trying to gauge what kind of noble she is. They butt heads in methods and morals, occasionally; Iveta’s “ends justify means” is something that absolutely disgusts Catalina. She acts a bit as Iveta’s moral center (and then Leliana is Cata’s moral center), giving her a very different perspective. They come a little closer after the trip to Denerim, where Catalina learns that Arl Howe has wronged her family and her fury matches Iveta’s at hearing how he is the Arl of Denerim along with everything.

Avrian and Jade get along well enough. He’s interested in learning what the Circle is like and is horrified to hear it. Jade is interested in what Avrian knows about how training mages works in his clan and how different it is. She’s honestly not that curious or wistful about life with the Dalish; they’ll talk about the differences in upbringing but she doesn’t badger him.

Catalina and Avrian is the set where, once Avrian starts to come out of his shell of grief, Catalina is endlessly pestering him wanting to know everything about life among the Dalish. She sort of attaches herself to him one day and he can’t shake her off. He doesn’t mind too much, because she does like her space too and she knows where to not prod. She reminds him of Tamlen in being angry and reckless and dangerously curious and he keeps having panic reactions every time she starts fiddling with strange vials or poking at wards on ancient graves. They align well in their proposed course of action for any situation, except for one huge moment: when it comes to the werewolves and she is arguing for mercy and he for death. It’s ugly.

Wynne gets so tired having the “your feelings might get in the way of the mission” conversation. First it’s Jade and Leliana, then Iveta and Zevran, then Avrian and Morrigan, then Catalina and Alistair, and she is tired.

They have two mabari - Iveta’s, named Dane, and the one from Ostagar. They call it, technically, Catalina’s mabari. Its name is Dorf’len - Grey Child. She and Alistair came to the same conclusion as happens in their individual canon, to name him Greyson, but then here Catalina turns around and asks Avrian “how do you say that in elvish?”

Iveta does not want to fight Flemeth but she is outnumbered by Catalina, who doesn’t trust the witch, Jade, who will literally fight anyone anywhere anytime, and Avrian, who is in love with Morrigan. They save the Circle, break the curse on the werewolves (despite Avrian’s surprising anger and argument for the alternative), destroy the Anvil (despite Iveta’s argument for not), and crown Bhelen (despite Avrian and Jade’s suggestion of Harrowmont). When they get back to Denerim, it’s basically Catalina and Iveta shoving each other out of the way trying to get to Howe and murder him for what he’s done to their homes and their families. Ultimately, Catalina lets Iveta have at him.

They are a realist and a pragmatist (with hints of a buried optimistic streak) - having a history of being able to deduce even the most baffling of incidents and come to clear-headed, rational conclusions. However, they struggle with the cloud of emotion they hold back to keep their mind focused. They are a master of investigative work - they know crime like the back of their own hand and has been able to solve nearly any case they’ve been put on, which led to their eventual obtainment of their DSC number 000 and the title of SHSL Detective. Their experience is a double-edged sword, sadly, as the things they’ve paid witness to breathes down their neck - haunting them.

 Years upon years of trauma has caused Kyouko to develop an iron-mask and a cold front in fear of being taken advantage of and harmed - no one can see through them, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that’s what they like to think. They don’t show emotion if they can help it. Most don’t know what they’re thinking, except for what they say and decide to disclose. Due to this constant stoic behavior, Kyouko has developed further difficulties with their emotions, becoming out of touch and uncertain what to do if experiencing one too strongly. Kyouko’s iron-mask leads to others being wary and distrusting of them, unable to get a read on and understand them. Despite this, they are known for moments of passive aggressiveness and impulsivity, even if it isn’t a super common occurrence. There are even moments where any type of emotion slips through entirely, if the feeling is intense enough - these usually tend to be emotions of the negative variety, however. With being unable to tell how they may react to something combined with their dry sense of humor, and habit of sassing others, you’ve a real difficult person to like. Not that Kyouko minds (or rather, they think they don't mind) - solitary is the life they set themselves up for as they believe detectives can only work effectively within complete neutrality and relationships taint said neutrality. The burns on their hands only amplify this mindset, as they obtained the burns on their hands from putting their emotions above their rationality - for getting close to someone who promised to always be there for them and then that said someone ended up dying to protect them. Their trust issues run deeper than the ocean…however, a certain spark of hope has assisted with these problems, lessening their severity. After escaping from Kibougamine Gauken, Kyouko began opening to those they consider their friends - showing a softer side, a more playful side and being able to joke around more frequently. Deep down, Kyouko is compassionate, empathetic, with a heart of gold, once you get past their many layers of accumulated trauma and defense mechanisms. They get embarrassed about feeling things sometimes - out of habit and the way they were raised.

 Kyouko possess a variety of identity related issues, leading them to compartmentalize and have a conflicted sense of morals and values. Thanks to their grandfather forcing a pre-chosen occupation and doctrine in their very early childhood years, they never had the chance to explore their own interests and feelings on important subject matter. Kyouko disagrees with many parts of the Kirigiri doctrine - however, fears going against it, as it’s ingrained into their entire being and history, and even became their reason for existing for a time. If they aren’t a detective, what are they? Kyouko struggles with this question. Aside from this, Kyouko is desensitized to scenarios and situations most would consider obscene and morbid. Danger doesn’t faze them - they’re used to it. After all, you can take them out of the war, but you can’t exactly take the war out of them. Overall, their sense of morals tend to be quite skewed at times, though with good intentions - they don’t mind killing if it means they are able to protect, they don’t mind stealing if it allows access to new information that could be useful and other various unlawful actions. If that wasn’t already ironic enough on its own, despite their policy of truth telling and seeking truth, Kyouko is fine with bluffing or manipulation if it benefits those around them or if it leads to the truth being drawn out. They will do anything to find the truth - almost anything. They will never again put the truth above another’s life.

 Kyouko cares deeply for human life despite their distance and apparent aloofness; they will actively seek out to protect others and prevent unnecessary tragedies if they can help it. This leads to the occasional guilt over the actions they have taken in the past and they work to avoid repeating those same actions.This guilt has lead to something of a strong martyr complex, being overtly willing to sacrifice themselves if it meant the survival of other parties.

 Kyouko Kirigiri is simply a living, breathing contradiction - a study of a warm and gentle nature vs. the cold traumatic nurture they went under at their core. They want to help others, but they don’t want them to get too close. They want to be 100% logical, but they don’t want to lose their sense of humanity. They want to be a person, but they don’t want to be. This is the struggle that defines them and is the foundation of their past, present and future.

history / background:

Born to Jin Kirigiri and Runa Uzuchi-Kirigiri, Kyouko comes from a long lineage of legendary detectives. This was their birthright and their set destiny. Their father, Jin Kirigiri, wasn’t interested in being a detective, and he was kicked out of the family by his father Fuhito Kirigiri before Kyouko was even born. Some time afterwards, Jin married Runa and they had Kyouko. After learning about their existence, Fuhito invited Jin back to the family solely because he wanted to make Kyouko his heir, as there was no other possible blood heir. Prior to Fuhito’s interference, Kyouko had a relatively happy childhood with their mom and dad, with Koichi Kizakura being a prominent part of it. Fuhito began a strict training to make Kyouko a true detective, though Jin still very much disliked his father, and opposed the idea of Kyouko starting detective work. When Kyouko was only 7 years old, Runa turned ill and was hospitalized while Kyouko and Fuhito were doing detective work abroad. Jin tried to contact them, but Fuhito refused to aid his family and didn’t even let Kyouko see their dying mother, because to Fuhito being a detective was more important than anything else. Kyouko’s mother then died, with Kyouko’s last memories of her being “a white face floating above a hospital bed”. Absolutely furious with his father, Jin left the family, and Fuhito encouraged Kyouko to hate him by claiming that Jin only used their mother’s death as an excuse to leave the family and pursue his own dreams.

 Kyouko became very close with their grandfather, Fuhito, who raised them and taught them all they currently know in the detective business, and he protected them from anything he deemed a threat. However, Fuhito was also shown to be extremely strict in his wish to make Kyouko a perfect heir and a detective to the point of being abusive and taking away any resemblance of a childhood. And Kyouko did just that - they were taught in 8 separate martial arts by their maternal grandfather, Tohachiro Uzuchi, and encountered their first body in the United States at the age of 8, received training with a gun, and much, much more. Inevitably, Fuhito had to go back to Japan with Kyouko, now age 13, due to Japanese law. Kyouko enrolled in an all girl’s school, meeting their first friend, Yui Samidare. The following year was spent solving the Duel Noir cases - ending with Yui as the final victim of the Duel Noirs, Kyouko burning their hands trying to move burning rubble to save Yui after an explosion took her out, with Yui dying and using her body heat to keep Kyouko alive when everything was all said and done. Kyouko began smoking at age 15, as a coping mechanism and a minor act of defiance. During this time, they encountered a clone of themselves, Kyouka, who, while their beginning relationship was rocky, have become very close with one another with Kyouko taking on a mix of an older sibling-parental-guardian role to Kyouka.

 Even though their family kept their talent out of the spotlight, Kyouko publicly touted their abilities so that the Kibougamine Gauken recruiters would notice them, so they could reunite with their father, the headmaster, to “cut ties”, when in reality they desired to reconnect, and did succeed to some extent. They attended Kibougamine Gauken Academy’s 78th Class as the SHSL Detective. While attending Kibougamine Gauken, Kyouko did investigations for their father and the Kibougamine Gauken Steering Committee. They tried to investigate Izuru Kamukura and The Tragedy of Kibougamine Gauken Academy, until it became too dangerous, and their father called her off, much to their dismay. The Tragedy, or The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History occurred shortly thereafter. During The Tragedy, Jin planned to seal the school building and let the students live in Kibougamine Gauken forever in order to protect them from the destruction. Kyouko and the rest of the class agreed to his plan, and they sealed the building together and lived peacefully inside it for a year without knowing that the SHSL Despair were already in their midst.The SHSL Despair took away the 78th Class’ school memories so they could participate in the mutual killing game. Unlike the others, Kyouko forgot their talent and their past, as a result of further tampering from Junko Enoshima, the mastermind, who deemed Kyouko as a threat.

 Kyouko eventually escaped Kibougamine Gauken with 5 other survivors, surviving together in the apocalyptic world until they were found by the Mirai Kikan. They decided to join the Mirai Kikan to fight against despair and the Mirai Kikan helped them to recover their school memories and other memories lost. Kyouko was made the head of the 14th division and their duty as the 14th division leader was the protection of victims and to spread the news of Mirai Kikan’s activities to the public. Makoto Naegi, Kyouko’s best friend, QPP, and co-worker, hatched a plan to help restore the Remnants of Despair back to their old selves via the Neo World Program, who under Junko Enoshima’s influence, drove the world into further chaos. Kyouko helped Makoto with this, using their resources from being a branch leader to assist, and captured the remnants with him, unknown to the Foundation. The restoration was a success - however, Makoto was suspected of treason, and was brought in accordingly, and the Final Killing Game began from there. Kyouko’s NG Code should have sealed their fate, really. Not allowing Makoto Naegi to live past the 4th time limit. And it did go off…yet they miraculously survived, thanks to a cure developed by Seiko Kimura and being revived by Mikan Tsumuki.

 They now continue their work as a detective - working to help rebuild the world from the destruction forced upon it and maybe, just maybe, beginning their journey and path to healing.

powers / abilities:

Death/Danger Sense - Kyouko has the ability to hear the “Angel of Death” (or “God of Death” in other translations) - this essentially acts like a faux spidey-sense that informs them of death coming to claim someone before it actually happens. The details of how it works are left rather vague but Kyouko themselves describe it as an ability some detectives have. Kyouko’s “hearing” of death seems to only have a short term forewarning time - meaning, the death itself is going to occur shortly if there’s no action taken. While centered on death specifically, this sense can also extend to incoming dangers in-general, if the danger has the potential of being fatal. As many dangers have the possibility of being fatal, the range on this ability can be quite wide.

time for a myles side bar note on how i typically handle this ability in rp spaces - if a death is set to occur, i will ask the mun of the muse who’s dying if kyouko is allowed to sense the death and if the answer is yes, i hold off on them commenting on what is about to happen until the point of no return is about to occur if the death is a non-intervention scenario either by circumstance (such as boss type threads) or by mun request or, if it is an intervention scenario (meaning a scenario where kyouko will show up/it is reasonably allowed and agreed upon by all muns), plot out the specifics of how the intervention will work out with those involved; if the answer is no by a mun entirely, then kyouko will not sense it entirely

 inherent abilities:

Martial Arts - Kyouko knows eight different types of martial arts. These include karate, kendo, judo, kyuudou, aikido, iaido and naginata, all of which they have extensive experience with.

Marksmanship - Kyouko was trained by the only marksman allowed to carry a gun within Japan, Johnny Arp (who apparently looks like Brad Pitt according to Yui Samidare), and has extensive knowledge and proficiency in operating all kinds of firearms.

Analysis - Thanks to a mix of their training, experience and a little bit of natural affinity for it, Kyouko can analyze their environment, the behavior of others, and other factors to rapidly come to deductions at a rate that is far far quicker than what most are able to do. While this analysis has been primarily used in their investigative work, this ability can also extend into prediction of others by determining their behavioral patterns, using what their body language is indicating and other variables to try and understand what the person is going to do before the person even knows themselves.

Hacking - To a lesser extent, Kyouko is knowledgeable in basic hacking.

Survival Skills - Kyouko understands the procedures needed to survive in circumstances that are difficult to survive in, such as in the wilderness with limited supplies.

Above-average human conditioning - While not at peak possible condition (yet), Kyouko is able to lift heavier things, take more damage and hold their breath far longer than the average person. They also have incredibly high pain tolerance to the extent that it may be to their own determent in certain situations.
