Dpxdc AU: Damian decides that it’s time to go collect his brother from his assignment. Danny is starting to sniff out some non-ghostly bullshit for once.

Damian knew his twin had been exiled from the age of seven, banished to travel and observe how scientists around the world engaged with Lazarus water. The only word that Damian received that his spare was still alive were the letters of lab reports and findings that were sent back to base. As the Heir, he’s pushed to be better lest he himself be exiled or simply executed. Danny becomes a fleeting thought and then once Damian arrived in Gotham, a none existent thought.

They weren’t raised to be friends or even friendly. The were not taught codependency or allotted time to bond. The could have been perfect strangers if not for their appearance and the stories of Danny’s shortcomings becoming Damian’s praise.

It’s only once Tim informs him of an intercepted letter, one sent and saved from years prior, that Damian recalls Danny enough to care. Tim prompts him to share more, especially given the coup recently committed by Deathstroke (Slade) and Talia gone into hiding with her zealots.

At family dinner that night Damian supplies: “I suppose I should be the one to bereave my twin of his assignment. His reports will certainly go unread.”

Chaos in the Batfam ensues- meanwhile across the country- Danny sneezes and finishes writing his yearly report: “No major discoveries aside from public record patents (attached), No assistance required. -Spare”. He doesn’t know why he bothers, he hasn’t received any contact from his mother or grandfather since he was 10ish and certainly hasnt thought about his twin. But, if there’s a chance (even an itty bitty one) that his reports are being read and are holding off his reassignment, he’d rather keep assassins out of Amity Park.

Little does he know that this letter is about to be intercepted by Pru, former assassin and friend of Tim Drake. He hadn’t expected his twin to suddenly arrive and tell him that his job was done. And certainly, seeing a plane filled with an uncomfortable looking ‘family’ that requested he join them and get to know Gotham and his birth father, was not on his bingo list.

Danny does his best to let them down gently- and they seem to be accepting that he’s acclimated to this weird little town and will leave him be- when Danny suddenly has to transform into Phantom in front of them to handle a rocket sent by Skulker.

They are less willing to accept his appeal to be left alone after that… Damian is trying to “bond” with him and all the others are trying to “help” in their own way.

Sam and Tucker howl with laughter at Danny’s suddenly very large family- all while secretly working with the Wayne’s to get Danny the fuck away from the Fentons before the scientists do something they can’t undo.

So! Alejandro the melanistic jaguar, and Rudy the jaguarundi cat. Beautiful. Rudy has the ears, tail, and longer canines as a human, and he can half-shift to purr or growl if he wants (a total of 3 people outside of his family know that tho). Alejo is like Nik: his only cat-like features are his sharper canines and his purple tongue. Do jaguars have purple tongues? No. Do I care? No. In their gato forms, they don't have many identifying features between them aside from behavior.

While her and Surge may clash at times due to their combined stubbornness, Rivet just wants the best for her and Kit.

“Uh oh.” Kit froze.

“What?” Surge looked over her shoulder to see Rivet standing in the doorway. Frowning wide with arms crossed over her chest. Her frightening mama bear look.

“What are you two doing?”

“Crap!” Surge swore. They had been found out. “Tck— nothing.” She then lied with a haggard ogre expression.

Rivet rose a brow. “Is that so? Because to me it looks like you were trying to sneak out.” Her eyes narrowed dangerously. “With my board.”

Surge gulped, and Kit hid behind his ears. “See Surge? I told you this was a bad idea…” he grumbled quietly.

“Shut it Kit!” Surge snapped back under her breath. “How else are we supposed to enter the race if we don’t have a ride??”

A flicker crossed over Rivet’s eyes. “Race? What race?”

Crap! She did it again! Surge groaned in frustration.

Kit peeked out from behind his ears. “Maybe we should just tell her?”

Surge GROOOAAANED and flopped like a defeated rag doll. “…UGHH FIIIINE!”

She frowned at Rivet. “There’s this big ole Extreme Gear race going on. The whole Restoration’s even getting involved! And we want in!!”

Rivet rose her brow disappointedly. “Aaaand you thought you could just sneak off with my board to run in this race, and I wouldn’t notice?”

“Ugh see? I told you she wouldn’t understand!” Surge angrily told Kit, who hid behind his ears again due to her volume.

“Oh no, I understand perfectly.” Rivet… smiled? And chuckled?? “Actually, you two remind me a lot of myself and my brother when we were younger. We used to try stuff like this too.”

So this must have been what they looked like to their parents when they caught them trying to be sneaky. How amusing.

The two perked up. Kit came out from behind his ears hopefully. “So… does that mean we can borrow your board then?”

“Ahaha—Absolutely not.” Rivet’s look went from cheery to cold as ice again. She knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt that they would crash it, especially with how reckless Surge could be.

“Drat.” The two sank down again.

“But! That being said—” The cat shut her eyes and raised her nose to the sky. “I’ve never been one to turn away someone excited about racing before.”

Her smile returned, and her green eyes sparkled as she beckoned for them to follow her. “So, come on. If you want to race, then we’re going to do this the proper way.”

The two kids exchanged a look with each other, before picking themselves up and following her out.

“Oh— and… don’t tell Starline.”

Part 7 of the Linked Universe Winged Au (LUWAU)! After many requests and a very long wait we've got our boy, Hyrule!

As per tradition here at Sass-Squat enterprises we have to start off with a little bird fact, so did you know that Henslow's Sparrows have the simplest and shortest song of any North American songbird? Their song is often described as a "feeble hiccup," and while they sing primarily sing at dawn and dusk, they are well known for sometimes singing all night long!

Anyways, I thought this was an interesting little fact because Hyrule oftentimes refers to himself as nothing more than a, "humble traveler" so I believe him having a simple "feeble hiccup" of a song matches that same energy.

However, Hyrule is heavily based off of a Henslow's Sparrow in my Winged Au for a multitude of other reasons aside from just his song. Hyrule is a such a sweet, simple guy, so I felt that it was right to assign him a bird that matches his down to earth nature, and a Henslow's Sparrow seemed the right fit in both appearance and behavior.

An example of their behaviors matching his own is the fact that Henslow's Sparrows take flight only with great reluctance, preferring to flee from threats by simply running through the grass. Before joining the chain, Hyrule was alone for the vast majority of his life both canonically and in this headcanon. As a result of this, he never really had anyone teach him how to properly preen or take care of his wings so they fell into a pretty disastrous state. This damage to his wings and flight capability didn't really bother him too much though, because much like a Henslow's Sparrow, he generally preferred walking as it was a safer, less conspicuous option of travel when he had monsters constantly hunting him down. The chain have all since helped him with his preening habits however, and he is doing much better but he still generally prefers walking over flying.

Another example of similar behaviors is that sparrows are oftentimes symbolic of productivity, cooperation, teamwork, and finding joy in the little things of life. Additionally, their spirits are said to be great at problem-solving and are capable of thriving in difficult environments. If that doesn't describe Hyrule then I genuinely don't know what does. He may not be as fast or strong as the other members of the chain, but he is very hardworking and he has a strong sense of determination and perseverance that really makes him shine in difficult situations.

God elodie is sooooooo annoying when it comes to photography. You think just because shes nice now shes not snobby???? You thought wrong. That girl is the epitome of the ‘snobby hipster’ archetype. Shes gonna go to some fancy art university that she got into from a photography piece that she worked far too hard on (and also some nepotism because i can see her taking advantage of her mom’s career to get what she wants).

She thinks shes too good for a job but because she cant just not work she ends up with a photographer role at a ballet magazine, taking these artistic photos then talking absolute nonsense about their meaning and her fellow hipsters nod their heads in understanding (she made it all up cause she thinks its funny seeing ppl agree). I can also see her doing freelance stuff for other magazines for fun.

Élodie may have gotten better at lowering her own ego sure but deep down she still thinks shes too good to take photos for the news. She’d spend her free time psychoanalysing photographs in cafes, and then writing articles about them for her blog (that alya helped her set up).

I feel like for all that Shen Jiu bitches at Sayuri/Haitang on like a daily basis (he doesn’t know why people think she doesn’t have a sense of humor, she has a sense of humor a mile long and it occurs entirely at his expense), there’s actually no one who’s happier about the marriage than he is. Like Haitang views it as a very convenient arrangement between friends that works very well for the both of them. Meanwhile Shen Jiu with his massive abandonment issues is over there like, if we get married, if she’s the one to ask to marry me, even knowing all that I’ve done, even knowing what I am…surely, surely that means she’ll never leave me? That as long as she’s in this world, I’ll never be left behind again?

LBH, upon landing in this strange parallel world (so similar yet so different to the one he left behind) latches on to the one thing he’s always been able to fall back on, and that’s his desire for vengeance. In one lifetime, he used Qiu Haitang as a tool to destroy Shen Qingqiu beyond all recognition. He’ll do it in this lifetime too, he’ll rip her from his side and turn her against him, use her to shred his soul into pieces, and it won’t even be difficult— he’s done the same thing to a thousand other undeserving men in his first life, after all, turned their wives and daughters against them.

It…doesn’t go well for him.

The Wrong Side of the Portal Raph from cabin 10 was wondering if you have enough water before you do anything fun!

"Raph wanted to swim with his family and maybe some new friends if you want to, but it's important to have enough water first. I have some extra water bottles if you need them!"

"Oh, cool!" Smokey gratefully accepted the water. It must have been refrigerated or had ice in it, because it felt cool in his hands. He smiled up at Wrong Side of the Portal Raph happily. "Thank you!"

Now for the...other part. Smokey nervously rolled the water bottle between his hands, but kept smiling. "And thank you for the offer, but I can't swim and don't really care for the ocean." And that was before he had a fire spirit take up residence in him. And before his cabin magically flooded. In the past, water had been okay, even when he couldn't swim, because he'd had his brothers with him. It'd been enough to quell his nerves. Plus, he had a big inner tube to hang out on!

Ever since Sparky had moved in, he'd gotten a lot less comfortable with it, even with his bros around. It'd taken his nerves and turned them into an outright aversion. Smokey did not like deep water or being submerged. He could handle shallows, but they were, well...shallow. No one could truly swim in them. He still had his inner tube, but floating around his with his bros had become a lot less relaxing and a lot more anxiety inducing.

The solution his family had found was letting him ride with one of them - normally Raph. It still made the box turtle nervous and Sparky hissed in his head like a cat being threatened with a bath, but being with someone he trusted wholeheartedly helped. It helped a lot too that if he was on Raph, he wasn't touching the water and had - in his mind, anyway - less of a chance of falling off. (He still clung to his brother like an octopus though.)

im going to be so honest while i do think ivypool’s placement within the dark forest was definitely interesting (if only for her character. the df plan was not good) the concept of a dark forest trainee dovewing is just sooo compelling to me. the pressure forced onto her from the clan, firestar & lionjay pushing her right into the claws of the enemy & her bonding with the other trainees both through her disregard for clan separation and a sense of kinship in feeling failed by the clans or the circumstances they were born into. she can feel and see and hear so so much pain around the lake and the dark forest tell her that they see it, too, and they want to fix it. and who else can she turn to?
