I think Maria killing her dad is one of my top 3 Castlevania moments ever. The lack of score when the dragon comes out of the portal and when it incinerates Emmanuel, it’s fucking eerie and drives home the stakes of the scene. Maria isn’t doing something heroic here, it’s frightening and it’s hollow, even if you agree that Emmanuel deserves it, and I love it. It’s almost a denial of catharsis.

And then when Maria can’t send the dragon back, that was such a gut punch. She can’t go back, she can’t will away the thing she’s summoned. Eugh, it all just got me feeling some kinda way.

I constantly think about how painful it was for Tera to leave Maria. For 7 years, it was just Tera and Maria. Tera was with her daughter 24/7, caring for her every need since birth. Every time Maria cried, Tera was there in an instant, curing whatever ailed her. And as Maria grew, she needed her mother in different ways, and Tera was always there for her. By the time we see them in S1 of Nocturne, it’s obvious that they have a strong mother/daughter bond.

It’s that bond and motherly love that push Tera to sacrifice herself in order to save her daughter. And Tera hoped she could still be with Maria in some capacity after being turned into a vampire, but she ultimately recognized that staying would do more harm than good. So Tera had to make the hardest decision a parent can make and leave Maria.

Maria’s no longer a baby. She’s 16, old enough to clearly express what she wants and needs. And when Tera ran, Maria clearly begged “mom, please don’t leave me” with such heartbreaking desperation.

Throughout Maria’s entire life, Tera was always there to wipe away her daughter’s tears, always ran to Maria when she needed something. It must have gone against every single motherly instinct Tera had to run from her daughter while her daughter is sobbing for her. Their story and relationship are so tragic

Thinking about Olrox being attracted, specifically, to men with strong codes of honor. Being drawn to the strength of their beliefs, their convictions, their morals. A BROTP I have with said character: im gonna be controversial since richtet is the obvious answer: Alucard. i love their dynamic as friends, more for its potential rather than its actual execution (especially with the radio drama💢). i think for both richter and alucard, maria is a very grounding presence that reminds them "oh right, i am simply the victim of something very strange and beyond my control, but i am still human" because they can relate to her, she is very human and far less damaged by fate than they are. she struggles, but she isnt doomed by the narrative. she keeps them from thinking they are ACTUALLY what their fates have assigned to them. i dont see this as her responsibility, but as an effect she has on them without trying

A random headcanon: her animals are guardians of her family, and she inhereted them!
