"Not at all too personal, I'll gladly volunteer the reason. In truth, Adrian was a... Challenging child. Not behaviourally, his rebellious streak only came out after his mother's passing. But physically, he was very... Different. There is very little known about how to raise a dhampir child, and we had no idea how his vampiric half would interact with his human half. His teething left toys, clothes and furniture shredded. His powers were unstable and clumsy, developing at random and being hard to control. His growth spurts were nothing like how a human would grow. When he turned 14, he practically transformed physically into an adult overnight. His mind worked differently, developed differently, thought differently. Every milestone was a relief, every new development a surprise to navigate. We simply had our hands full with raising him, to have added a second child in the mix would have been disastrous. Who knows what unforeseen variables that child would've introduced into our lives? No, one was enough for the time being. For the sake of our sanity, if you will."
