Webtoon recomendation!
Do you like comics? Do you want something to read? Well, that's great coz I wanna ramble about my favorites so be welcome! Take a seat.
Note - CWs because in the series descriptions there might be sensitive topics: domestic abuse mention, human trafficking mention, suicide mention, noncon mention, torture mention, death mention.
Total: 13 webtoons featured, of fantasy, thriller, romance, sci-fi, mistery, the superhero genre, paranormal mistery and adventure. Some are very light, others are very whumpy.
Castle Swimmer (ongoing)
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: In an underwater world, different merpeople live with their kind in castles. In an isolated castle, the shark people suffer from a curse, and their only hope is their prince Siren, as there is a prophecy stating that he will kill "the Beacon" and free his people. Meanwhile, Kappa, a rogue mer, is a messiah sent by god who was born to fullfull prophecies. He is known as "the Beacon". The duty of his life is to fullfill them, and he never said no to none. One day, the Beacon arrives at the shark castle; the people are cheerful! Their suffering has come to an end! Prince Siren heads to killing the Beacon, but... he isn't like he expected. Can he really kill him? If not, then what should he do? Both of them were born for one reason and one reason only. What if they can't fullfill their duties?
Notes: Romance subplots and lots (I mean lots) of queer characters! General trigger warnings for blood and some violence in certain chapters. All of the chapters have cws. Sometimes there is a panick attack.
2. SHELTER (ongoing)
Genre: Fantasy, thriller, science fiction
What is it about: Ruka lives with his mother and his uncle/stepfather in a small town. From the outside, they seem like a neat happy family. But no one seems to notice what happends inside closed doors. Ruka's uncle is a violent and unforgiving person, and whenever he takes a misstep, there is a punishment. He dropped out of school and works at his uncle's diner, trying his best to protect his mother from the person she married with. One day, his only and best friend Pom gives him a gift: she left the town for college and they can only talk to each other by phone. The gift is a virtual reality gear--she says "try it out! I'm sure you will find out something cool there." Ruka tries the VR out and dives into the world of Vahana... he ends up finding out more than he initially thought.
Notes: I absolutely love this series and the art style evolves a lot from the first to most recent chapters. General trigger warnings for despictions of domestic abuse, human trafficking and censored noncon. There may be mentions of suicide as well. Apparently no queer characters at all, uncertain if there is a romantic subplot, but I like to think that no. Oh, and in the first 50 chapters or so I don't think it has many cws. If something specific happens, there may be one (I can't remember) but after that all chapters have a general trigger warning and sometimes a chapter-speficic one.
3. Housekeeper (ongoing)
Genre: Science fiction, adventure (?)
What is it about: In an alternative world where humanity has achieved great technologic advancement still in 1930 or so, the government of all the nations was unified in one and most of human labor was replaced with AI work. Navil is a kid who lives with his grandmother, and one day, he finds a broken maid robot and asks her to fix it. He names the AI as Hasty and they grow to become dear friends. One day, however, humanity faces a threat: A misterious disease has spread around all the world and is turning humans into zombies! When her master Navil is turned into one, and there seems to be no hope, what will Hasty do?
Notes: Don't stop reading when the boy gets turned. Do not. General trigger warnings for mild fantastical violence. I'm not very far in the series so I'm not sure but it doesn't seem to have openly queer characters. No romantic subplot. No cws as far as I've got. Oh, and there is some blood too, so take care.
4. Lovebot (ongoing)
Genre: Sci-fi
What is it about: In the far future, technology has advanced and humans have travelled deep into space. A certain renowned company has trademarked one of technology's most impressive advances: Artificial partners! Lovebots are advertised as "better than real" and the perfect companions for you. They are customizable to be whatever you want them to be, from appearence down to personality traits. Xada, also known as Jackalope, is a hacker who used to be hired to customize people's lovebots for a lower price, but for the new version released it is actually illegal to do so. Even though, a customer calls Xada to customize his brand-new lovebot (he wants to desactivate the sutdown response for when the bot is in too much pain?? wtf) and he accepts the job. When he arrives at the customer's place, though, the lovebot seems unsettlingly... human. When he comes back home from the modifications, he doesn't know yet, but Xada unlocked a secret that might evolve to a whole series of conflicts... with he and the lovebot right in the center of it.
Notes: Lots of openly queer characters (you can notice in the literal 1st pannel), HUGE romantic subplot, I think I shouldn't even call it a subplot coz it's a big part of the story. General trigger warnings for domestic abuse mentions, violence, toxic relationships, panic attacks, blood and...oh yeah, both noncon/dubcon mentions and consensual (just implied, thankfully for me) sex.
5. The Ember Knight (ongoing)
Ehhh, disclaimer: This seems to be set in the same world of another webtoon by the same author, a few years later. It seems like the previous webtoon is called Gilgamesh but I haven't checked that out. It seems like some of the characters appear in both webtoons and some of the lore is only shown there. I haven't read it yet but it's not preventing me form enjoying the story, so I'd say it is optional.
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: The Knights are the country's greatest military force. They have powers beyond human comrehension and protect the people. Nagyuun's brother, Najin was training to become one of them; he was talented, strong and kind, like any Knight was supposed to be. Nagyuun couldn't be more different than him; even though they were twins, while Najin was extremely talented and considered a prodigium with 100% of chance of becoming a Knight aprentice anytime soon, Nagyuun wasn't much more than a normal guy. He loved his brother, and even though he had hard times, they were as close as they could be. That is, until one day, assassins invaded their home. Najin was murdered, and Nagyuun, just a normal person, couldn't do anything against the Knight-level threat. His brother was dead. Nagyuun could not let them go without revenge, but they were already far away--vanished just as quickly as they had arrived. He then borrowed Najin's identity. They were identical, so the only thing that set them apart, was their names. Nagyuun's plan was to live as his brother and pretend he was the one who died so he could attract the assassins. Your job isn't done just yet. But Najin was an extremely talented person. How could Nagyuun ever pretend to be like him? How could he create the illusion that he was at the level of a Knight aprentice? He didn't knew, but in what he lacks in skill, he compensates in rage. He would not let his brother's murderers get away from that.
Notes: I absolutely LOVE this series, the designs and the colors (the colors) are amazing and I love all the characters and the plot and everything--Nagyuun is such an amazing character, and sometimes the lack of skill he has becomes lowkey comic. General trigger warnings are violence, blood, character deaths (you saw what I said about Najin) and bullying. (And also pretty poor coping mechanisms if you want my opinion.) No romance as far as it is, no openly queer characters either.
6. Señorita Cometa (ongoing)
Genre: Mistery
What is it about: Alex is a young woman who lives in Yoalco, a city with high crime rates with two opposing mafias. She works at the Yoalco police department but she's also a vigilante--Her best friend Lola went missing and now she is going to do whatever it takes--under whatever title she gets undo--to find out the truth about what happened to her--and probably dismantle a whole trafficking web in Yoalco.
Notes: This webtoon is phenomenal, there is music in some episodes and the lighting and the drama--I love this one sm. It's more of an epic sometimes lighthearted mistery than an edgy story. General trigger warnings for some mild violence, blood, human trafficking and mentions of noncon. A few romantic subplots, no openly queer characters for now.
7. Realta (on hiatus)
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: Many ages ago, the Signs decided to share their magic with humans--by giving them their blessing according to who they were born under, humans aqcuired fantastical powers. Fourteen special ones were chosen by the signs: The Realta. Each sign has one (aside from gemini and pisces, which have two) and the Realta would always reborn under the same sign. Ellowen, our protagonist, is a virgo who lives in a little cottage with their grandfather since they were a little kid. The last time they saw their parents was so many years ago... because around the cottage there is a magical barrier that is meant to keep any dangers away. One day, Ellowen's grandfather dies, and the barrier that kept them safe and isolated from the world for so many years vanishes. When they take the courage to leave their home, they decide to reunite with their parents after so long--but the problem is that Ellowen has no idea of where the virgo village is. They soon find a capricorn girl that seems like she can help them, but what will have changed them while Ellowen didn't see what was happening to the world?
Notes: This story makes me SO HAPPY because there are not only openly queer characters, but it's normal courtesy to introduce yourself with your pronouns, and you will see lots of characters doing this. There is romantic subplot and a lot of characters I really like, and it is on hiatus for a while. I can't wait for when it gets back >//////////< The plot is not centered around any of the characters queerness though, and everything about Realta, from the worldbuilding down to the artstyle is simply beautiful. And it has such magical vibes to it as well. General trigger warnings are character deaths and some violence.
8. PARA-Professional (ongoing)
Genre: Paranormal mistery
What is it about: Two friends decide to explore what it is said to be an old haunted house. One of them pays no mind to the rumors at all, but the other knows something is going on... They both find out more than what they thought they would in there. And it doesn't stop there.
Notes: Some romantic subplot, openly queer characters, and honestly, everything about this series is so charming. The author also has another series (also ongoing but shorter and with fewer updates I think) that you may want to check out: Cryptozoology. General trigger warnings for... Blood and death mentions. It came back from hiatus a while ago.
9. Castoff (on hiatus)
Genre: Fantasy adventure
What is it about: Vector means no harm to no one, but it's not like people believe it. He's not quite human and seems to have some elfic heritage... but aside from that, anyone who sees him treats him like a monster. He lives with his adoptive mother, a librarian, hidden away from everyone for everybody's sake. That is, until a weird customer arrives at the library, and when, despiste his best efforts, she sees him, she doesn't seem afraid at all. And from there some chaotic things take place... what is she up to?
Notes: Amazing. Awesome. And it has its own site with more frequent updates, even thought it is still on webtoon. I don't think there is any romance or openly queer characters but for me some of them are pretty much queer-coded-ish. There is a lot of characters and the magic system and worldbuilding is awesome too. General trigger warnings for mild violence, a little of blood, death mentions and mentioned accidental domestic violence.
10. Cinderella Boy (ongoing)
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: It's summer, and even though Chase doesn't have any part-time job like his relatives advise him to, he's buisier with other things: A while ago, he found a magic key that allows him to travel into books, and for every tale he finishes, he gains some drops of this misterious substance called narratonin. As soon as he finds out what it serves for, he decided: This summer, he'll gather narratonin enough to make a wish. Some people don't want him to have it easy, though.
Notes: No romance, no queer, it's pretty lighthearted and fun. There are a lot of misteries still unsolved and I'm honestly eager to find out.
11. Uriah (ongoing)
Genre: Thriller, mistery
What is it about: One day, a boy wakes up in the back of a car, bruised, restrained, and with absolutely no idea of where he is, or what is worse, who he is.
Notes: HEAVY trigger warnings for this one, and for most of the chapters this series has no cws. Blood, violence, extreme violence and lots of blood, domestic abuse mentions, sexual abuse mentions, human trafficking, character deaths, death mention and torture, honestly, like someone got heavyhanded on the whump sauce for this one. I actually love this one, but it can get pretty dark. I love most of the characters and it seems like there is some romantic subplot going on. Some of the chararcters are openly queer, including the villains. You're going to be very confused for a lot of the first season if you read it, and as the story goes on, you'll have to decide who is the good guy and the bad guy on your llist again.
Oh, and that person with the motorcycle is a girl (she/her), just so you know. Don't let the comments section confuse you.
12. Our Walk Home (on hiatus)
Genre: Romance
What is it about: In a city, two great and renowned schools have a sworn enemyship. None of their students are friends with each other, and the rivalry is so strong that it sometimes gets unhealthy. Akihiko is a top student in one of those: He has a big social circle, amazing looks, is athletic and smart. Everybody on his school loves him. He values his position, and he got a lot of effort in to get there. Even if... even if he has to pretend to be someone he's not, be extra friendly with everyone even when he's emotionally drained and give away some of his mental health. On the other school, they say there is a worthy rival for Akihiko. Harumi Kurose, who comes from the overseas. They say he's a genious with an ice heart, who looks down on anyone who isn't worth his time. Akihiko is told he will have to face Harumi one day, and despiste not showing to anyone, he is completely terrified of the guy. One day, they meet. It didn't go as Akihiko expected, though.
Notes: I love the art. Like, really really love. The art in the other ones is cool as heck but this one is really special because it is. So so so so gorgeous. And light. And refreshing. Love everything about it. CWs for this series: Death mention, toxic relationships, and, uh, burnout I guess. It's very gay. Not many openly queer characters, tho.
And last, but definitely not least:
13. Jupiter-Men (on hiatus)
Genre: Superhero
What is it about: In Jupiter City, there is a urban legend of a misterious vigilante called Jupiter Man. In a school in the city, it studies a young boy called Quintin, alongside with his twin sister, Jackie. Quintin is a big fan of Jupiter Man, and, when there is a rumor that he went missing Quintin decided to look for him. Jackie tries to put some sense into her brother's head, but he won't listen to her. Despiste not wanting to, she ends up going with him. But instead of Jupiter Man, they find another thing, and that may be a key to a misterious chain of events that will give them more than what they initially hoped for.
Notes: The art. Style. The designs. Amazing. Okay, so, there is no romantic subplot, no openly queer characters until now, and Jupiter-Menis entering its second season. It was when I was reading this I noticed that I actually love the superhero genre. The characters are amazing and compelling, the lore is very very fun and everything is pretty engaging. Cws include fantastical violence, some blood and death mentions. There are also some references to greek mythology, and, yeah--if I was to describe this in one word, it'd be "fun". It's a great one.

I’m honestly really happy you’re taking the initiative to (while it’s still gonna be around for a good while) shorten Castle Swimmer a bit for a more concise road to the end.
Both because I’m glad you’re putting your own well-being and what you find comfortable at front so you don’t strain yourself too much due to WEBTOONs dates and deadlines. As well as the fact there have been many popular webtoons that have gone on way longer than they needed to, because it’s popular or for another reason. Sometimes making it worse for the sake of making the story go on.
Strain in any way and the feeling that you have to continue a piece of media because it’s popular can really damage a creative piece that was once amazing. I’m really glad you’re taking your time and thinking of yourself so castle swimmer can stay as amazing as it is and have the ending it deserves. Although I am a little sad we don’t get to see the gag of siren biting his tongue lol.
Also bird boys will come sooner and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do once you’re free from WEBTOONs schedule!
I’m happy you agree! :) part of the reason I feel comfortable to do this is because you guys have been so support that it gives me the confidence to try to make a living on my own without webtoon’s help. There was a point where I thought webtoon would be my only job so I tried to make the story as long as possible 😂
So thanks for all your support 💕

10 Anti LO Asks
1. i actually saw a LO fan say LO's take on Orpheus and Eurydice, bc Orpheus is usually Apollo's kid, that Orpheus will also be an abusive creep and Persephone will "save" Eurydice from him by keeping her in the Underworld. I hate it here lmao.
2. just watch. persephone's magic fertility will override hades' broken pp and theyll name the babies (who for whatever reason only look like hades) after the dead nymphs like its the harry potter epilogue again to "prove' persephone actually cares about them and to be "unique" over using zagreus, makaria, melinoe, etc.
3. I honestly hoped that this trial would finally be a change for Persephone to stand up for herself, even as insane as her reasoning is, and prove herself a "Queen", yet the whole trial has made her regress even more. She is not defending herself, she's just letting Hades and others take care of it while she makes doe eyes and does nothing but be pushed around. I'm waiting for when the so-called "empowered dread queen" shows up, because we're pushing into year 4 with her as meek as ever.
4. @ other anon:
the “masterpiece” Webtoon I read is called Castle Swimmer.
It’s not Greek mythology related at all but it’s my favourite Webtoon and updated the same day as Lore Olympus. The main characters are gay and there is a disabled and trans character as well.
One of its main themes is choosing your own destiny. The lore, colors, and story are rlly appealing. It does have its dark moments but it balances really well with the humor.
I highly recommend reading it instead of Lore Olympus💕
5. LO is not the only Webtoon to introduce us to a lead who has "big dreams" who ends up dropping all of it as soon as she meets the love interest, but even comics like True Beauty or Let's Play still give the FL's interests and a life outside of the men, while LO makes it so Persephone has nothing outside of Hades. Also, neither of the mentioned claim to be "empowering" women like LO does, making Persephone's lack of goals and life outside of Hades even more disingenuous to what LO claims to be.
6. The idea of "independence" cannot work as a goal in LO or any HxP story, because unless RS makes up a completely new ending that matches nothing from the actual myths (which tbh I wouldn't put it past her) then Persephone IS dependent, either via her mother or her husband, so the "goal" is null & void. If the romance was secondary, then this wouldn't be as much of an issue, but as you pointed out Persephone has no real goals outside of Hades, so how is she "independent"? She is nothing w/o him.
7. I could be wrong, but I remember in a Q and A that Smythe mentioned that she considered Hera to be the deuteragonist (secondary protagonist) of Lore Olympus. If this is true, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Hera (as many have pointed out before) has nothing to do with the Persephone Myth. With this being said, shouldn't Demeter be the deuteragonist? Especially since the entire myth was about her, to begin with?
I really wish Smythe would step out of her 'Hades is a perfect bae' obsession and actually explore Persephone and Demeter - maybe even showing us even more positive aspects of their relationship, and even showing the Titanomachy from Demeter's persepctive so we can really feel her pain and understand her reasons to keep Persephone away from Olympus.
8. If anyone needs to stand up to Apollo, it HAS to be Persephone, because so far everything from her money woes to her scholarship to even her housing and covering up MASS MURDER is taken care of by other people, while she does NOTHING for herself, minus a vague "feeling" she can't control. You want her to reclaim her agency? Have her punish her r//pist, not have Hades do it, or Hera, or anyone else. Let Persephone show she's the Dread Queen, not a scared child stuck in a sexualized body.
-----FP Spoilers/Mention-----
9. FP// We shouldn't be a full year and a half after the AOW to just now know the dead nymphs' names when Persephone never once mentioned them especially at the MOMENT of her explaining their demise. RS can pat herself on the back all she wants, but it's so clear now a lot of LO is her too little, too late trying to "fix" mistakes that shouldn't have been there in the first place. It's like Persephone having a birthday out of nowhere so people could technically not call out P is a teenager 😑
10. fast passing is gettjng really tiresome with this comic but honestly i just wanna see the shit show now thats all. but like . the shitshow has gone on for too long. i didnt really think one season could just be “he he hoo hoo ha ha Bullshit Courtroom Things Lawyers and Juries and Judges El-Oh-El”. i wish i had some real criticisms but like this is all i got man. this is all i got. im so tired now. oh and fhe “why does the king love u” “well actually im in love with him” sent me . its ridiculous. im so mad (negative).

Hello! I am now home and can respond to your ramblings about my art properly!
PlayBoy:
Thank you!! I'm very proud of the tattoos and had to look up several references for Māori tattoos and they're all so lovely and intricate. The tattoos on his thighs are placeholders until I can find some that are just as intricate and lovely. Fun fact! The moon tattoo is supposed to be a matching tattoo set, the second one being a sun. (You should post the drawings with the crescents! I'm sure that they would look lovely) And yes the hands- I was so pleased with the hands, they were so fun to draw and I'm proud of how they turned out! Though I may have cheated a little and traced a genuine playboy magazine that didn't seem too hard and appealed to me. It lended a hand in how good I drew the hands in this, as directly tracing hands never look good. I say traced but I mostly mean for the prices and the word thingys and the but, and then I referenced that sketch and refined it more until it looked about right. The original magazine had the very satisfying back curve! The highlights hoenstly bring the art together, it just looked boring without them and I wanted to make it pop. Thank you so much!
Space man:
Yes that is space! The tentacles were very fun to draw but it took a little bit to make them look right. He is truly chaos incarnate. Jeremy (The little man off to the left and basically his assistant) doesn't even know what he's doing. Jeremy hates this and hates Maui and is going to berate him later for it /lh. And I put so much effort into the background!! And I'm still only revising it!! There's so much more for me to do with this drawing!! I have so much more to do, it is a very mentally taxing drawing so I'm just taking my time with it. It'll look awesome once it's finished! And thank you so much, I'm glad that it's working out so far!!! And no, it will absolutely not work out and he'll nearly accidently get the crew killed and give Jeremy a heart attack (/hj) (/lh)
Mermaid:
Yes! Mermaids are very fun! I think this au of him was the reason I got into them in the first place, and then I got into angels and demons because of Laproxie on Instagram, and now I've kind of forgotten about both tbut the mermaid has sticked mostly!! Thank you about the fluidity about the tail! I am also very picky about flowy lines and how they work and fish don't have knees. I actually stole the way the colours work from Castle Swimmer on webtoon! It's honestly so beautiful and the story and art is both great and now I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for season three because the two love birds just met again after a long time of trying to find each other and there was so much lore and three comedic witches and it's just beautifully written. The water was the hardest part, I don't like drawing water. But the light scattering were fun! And the white bit on top is either seafoam or light refractions. Ok so I spent a really long time thinking about it and decided he would be more of a deep sea fish (I only drew him in shallow waters because its so much easier to pose) so I made him blue so he could camoflauge! He also has natural bioluminessence that I didn't draw in the because it's very light out. And yes!!! Those are stitches!! Thank you so much!!
Casual:
Yes, it is a very different vibe! It's a lot calmer than the other ones (And less sexually inclined like in the first one, but I would describe him as promiscuous so I feel its fitting) He is very smug and carefree but also quite vain, he can often be seen looking at himself in any reflective surface he can, including a small pocket mirror he takes with him wherever he goes. He has traded comfort for a life of being sexy and his brother is so confused and keeps trying to shove him into something comfortable and Maui Hisses and shys away like he's a cat and his brother is trying to get him into a bath of water. His brother is the opposite and also very buff
I put si much effort into the straps!! I'm very happy to have them recognised!! They gave me a bit of issues but I managed to beat them into looking good. Same with the scarf! Though, most of the credit has to go to the fabric brushes on procreate. I don't know what I would do without them
Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to view them and comment on them <333 I love it when you ramble so it's absolutely no problem! Ahhh, I'm so glad that my art is colourful and pleasing to look at and I hope to continue sending Maui to your inbox!
I'm very glad that you're slowly piecing him together, and that you seem to enjoy what he is. It is a veyy joyous day <33333
-Heathen
Heathen!! Hello! I have finally gotten to the third ask you sent me that fateful night a few weeks ago! I was not expecting a response at all (probably should've since this is you) so i'm very curious what this contains
that being said my response will be under a cut since. long!
Playboy:
The tattoos were so lovely!! I love tattoos so much I'd love to get a few. I used to have a whole host of tattoos planned out, but that was when I was like 13 and now looking back I'm like wow so glad I was not allowed to get tattoos because I'd now like very different tattoos. Still want a dragon tho. Matching tattoos also sound super cool! Sun and moon imagery is also *chef's kiss.* And I'd forgotten about the crescent art I have but mayhaps I shall post it at some time!
Congratulations on the hands tho the blending between tracing and making it look good can be hard but you did great! For me one of the biggest annoyances when tracing hands is that...they do not match my style. I usually take my own reference photos, so my real life hands when traced don't match my less-realistic style. The translation between the two is annoying sometimes but you nailed it! and highlights are always fun--I frequently go a little too over the top with highlights (especially in curly hair) and then am just like whelp can't do anything about it now (for traditional art at least)
Spaceman:
Yes!! haha!! I know enough about sci-fi to recognize space! Tentacles are like a hit or miss for me. I'm. very picky about the fluidity of lines and tentacles can be a nightmare! Side note: i frequently type out little rants on tumblr and then just save them to my drafts and one of them is about the squiggle of lines.
but poor Jeremy, having to deal with the chaos that is Maui. I don't think him berating Maui is going to change anything but he sure can try.
As for the background, I hope you have fun with it! Those kinds of big detailed drawings can be really draining so good idea to take your time. It already looks awesome so I have no doubts that it'll be even better once you've finished it. What will not get better are Maui's plans everything is going to descend into chaos i fear for Jeremy
Mermaid:
You're so right mermaids are fun. When I think of the ocean I usually think about pirates because my dad is a pirate nerd and he infected me with pirate brainrot, but I also love the idea of sirens and creatures in the water as part of that. And so true fish do not have knees. Maybe we could...do something about that :). your fish has been kneed.
I don't know anything about Castle Swimmer but the colors you stole are very pretty!! Three seasons sounds like a lot tho I don't know how people do it. I say, with a blog heavily focused on an 11 book series. But back to Maui! Camouflage sounds like it could be useful, but also I'm wondering how much light is down in the deep sea and if it'd even be necessary to hide if no one can see you. That's like ingrained hiding in the environment. Just a musing though, the design is still very pretty. Something something all I hear after that is bioluminescence which is hella cool I'd like to also glow in the dark. Maybe that was my thought process when I accidentally cracked a glow stick into my eyes when I was a child, I was trying to become bioluminescent
Casual:
it is so much calmer than the others but also still has the wicked expression from the space one. Like he may look nice in terms of his appearance, but he also looks malevolent and like trouble. Good for him for the self-confidence tho. Sometimes you just need to stare into your own soul through a mirror. Though if you don't blink long enough then your face will stare to distort and you'll stop recognizing yourself, at least in my experience. it's pretty cool.
that is hilarious that Maui's brother is trying to unsexy him I love that so much. Just confused but supportive "it's cold out you can't wear that" and maui's in booty shorts and fishnets and a crop top, that's the dynamic I'm imagining rn.
yes!! the fabric texture is so impressive! thank you to the fabric brushes for giving heathen the tools they need to make cool art of a sexually chaotic part robot man.
thank you for sharing your art with me! I was very honored when you directly sent it to me even after you'd already posted it, it was like an "oh? you went out of your way to make sure I saw this?" moment /pos. I will enjoy as much as you have to say about Maui, so feel free to continue sending him!! he is a little puzzle I am gleefully putting together in my head one bit at a time and it's lovely.
#quil's queries#heathen nonsie#other's ocs#long post#i am simply getting to know him your honor#i'm watching him develop into a person in my head#rotating him around like a blorbo

Hi! Do you have any Webtoon recommendations that's similar to purple hyacinth? I'm still not over it :((
First of all I’m so happy you read/enjoy Purple Hyacinth! You’re the first person to directly ask me about it since I began posting about it. Like I’m so glad that others have checked it out and enjoy it like me! (also I’m still not caught up so I won’t talk about spoilers for the season finale but you bet your ass I’ll be making posts in a couple weeks when those episodes are free).
Now PH is kind of in a league of it’s own in terms of the webtoons I’ve read mainly because there aren’t really many mystery webtoons (seriously check the mystery tag on webtoon it’s really tiny). Despite this I can recommend the ones that I read and I’ll give a quick summary of each so you can see whether or not it’s something you’d be interested in! (sorry this ended up being way longer than intended but I’m just really enthusiastic)
Lore Olympus- The poster-child of webtoon and for good reason. If you’re on the app regularly you’ve heard of this (it’s actually the first webtoon I read!). A retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth except Olympus is like a modern city while the mortals live in typical ancient Greek times. One night Hades sees Persephone at a party and he’s immediately intrigued, and circumstances keep bringing them together. It’s got romance, slow burn, great side characters with their own plot lines and some great character work/development, also a great unique art style. Over 100 chapters up and still being updated!
SubZero- In order to save her clan from total destruction, Clove, the princess of the Azure clan, is placed into an arranged marriage with her enemy, the Crimson clan’s crown prince Kyro (who’s hot but kind of an asshole...?). Both of the royal lines of these two clans are the vessels for dragon spirits which started the war and Clove is the last of the Azure dragons. It’s basically an arranged marriage enemies to lovers type of deal with lots of friction between characters, side plots, court intrigue, drama and of course slow burn with a hint of a love triangle. Of all the series I read this is the closest thematically to PH in terms of drama, stakes and ships ;). Over 60 chapters out and currently being updated weekly!
Castle Swimmer- MY GAY FISH! Sorry I had to. This story focuses on merpeople who live in castles under the sea. Kappa is the Beacon, which means he goes around to the Mer castles to make their prophecies come true. These prophecies usually meant to bring prosperity to the castles and don’t hurt anyone, but the Shark castle’s prophecy states that their prince Siren must kill the Beacon to lift a curse off his people. Thing is Siren doesn’t want to kill anyone. But now Kappa’s captured by them and Siren has to figure out a way to save both his people and Kappa. If I could describe this comic in one word: PURE. These boys are just so pure and basically everyone else is too but it’s also really heartfelt and emotional and can be dramatic too! I just love it! Just over 40 chapters and just started it’s second season!
Siren’s Lament- Unrelated to the Siren mentioned above but still involves mermaids (aka sirens). This girl Lyra is heartbroken because the guy she likes doesn’t feel the same and in her sadness she accidentally falls into the ocean, where a siren named Ian finds her and kisses her in order to giver her his curse, trade places with her and have a new life on land. But for some reason the siren’s curse is split between them; They have legs on land but fins in water. She takes him and as they try to figure out how to get rid of the curse. Lot’s of comedy, side characters, lore, music and some great twists. Oh and a love triangle where you can never decide who you’re rooting for because they’re both amazing. Almost 200 episodes are up along with a bunch of fun shorts in between and it’s currently on hiatus because the author is preparing for the series finale!
So yeah these, along with Purple Hyacinth, are my main webtoons! I know I should probably read more and I’m getting to that, but there are also a few I didn’t mention because I only read them occasionally/am not as invested in them! But yeah sorry for writing way too much! If you haven’t read these yet check them out and let me know what you think! And if you have read them let me know your opinion of them!
#anon#asks#webtoon#purple hyacinth#lore olympus#subzero#castle swimmer#siren's lament#my thoughts#yeah this is too much but I couldn't help it

Webtoon Reclist
So I discovered a bunch of webcomics on Line Webtoon recently. I keep binging things, so here’s a list of recommendations from what I’m up to date on. Links to the comics themselves are included.
Completed
Always Human - Sunati Raval lives in a world where genetic modification is easy and hip, and she loves changing her look. Meeting Austen, a girl whose immune system rejects mods, makes Sunati see a new angle of things. She and Austen are interested in each other, but they only just met, so making this relationship float will take work from both parties.
Girls Have a Blog - Sarah and Tara had a webcomic while they were in art school, but after Webtoon found it years later and asked to feature it, they decided to make a new version on the same premise: the two of them living together and having adventures in art, writing, and adulting.
My Boo - Yuri So can see ghosts, but ever since she was young, she’s made it a point to never let anyone know, not even the ghosts. No matter what, when someone finds out it becomes a burden for her. Unfortunately, a careless mistake leads to her moving into a house inhabited by a ghost named Jun Ko. Yuri’s only able to ignore Jun for so long, and it’s time she finally confronted her personal demons.
Note: My Boo is on Webtoon’s “Daily Pass” system. The first five episodes are freely available, then every successive episode requires a Daily Pass to unlock for two weeks, of which a user will only get one a day without paying for more.
Oh! Holy - Jamie Oh has had a hard time making friends due to his ability to see ghosts. The one friend he had, Holy Joo, moved away long ago, abandoning their promise to see the world together. After that, he gave up on trying to connect with anyone but ghosts. But after Jamie crosses paths with Holy again in high school, an accident threatens her life, forcing the two to make a deal with a reaper to stay alive.
Orange Marmalade - Mari Baek is a vampire who only wants to live quietly in one place instead of being run out of town every time someone finds out what she is. Unfortunately, the most popular boy in her school takes a shine to her after her instincts get the better of her in the presence of his strong-smelling blood. She doesn’t like attention, but maybe a few friends and a boyfriend wouldn’t be so bad. Assuming, of course, that she can trust them.
Note: Orange Marmalade is on Webtoon’s “Daily Pass” system. The first seven episodes are freely available, then every successive episode requires a Daily Pass to unlock for two weeks, of which a user will only get one a day without paying for more.
Shard - Shay is a witch on the run from her coven, desperate to keep out of their control and live her own life. There’s a certain spell she wants to cast, a portal she wants to open, and the missing piece is a virgin. Her best bet is one of a group of geology nerds she manages to come across, but the trick will be getting him into the ritual before her coven can get their claws back on her.
Super Secret - As far as Emma Ji knows, she’s just very close with her next door neighbors. But the truth is that her parents signed a Rapunzel-esque contract with this family of supernatural beings after wronging them before Emma was born. The son of the family, Ryan, developed feelings for Emma over the years, but he’d rather do things on her terms than because of some contract.
unTouchable - Vampires have evolved over the centuries, moving from consuming blood to absorbing energy through touch. Sia Lee is one such vampire, and Jiho Shin – the best target she’s ever set her sights on – has extreme OCD, so she decides to help him get over it. Is Sia really going this far just for a meal, or is there actually something to her claim of feelings for Jiho?
Where Tangents Meet - Landon Takahashi was left cynical and bitter by 17 years of people pretending to like him for his money and balking at his geeky hobbies. Rachelle Fletcher is a year older, yet so sweet and flighty that she blows away all of Landon’s preconceived notions about people. They grow close quickly, and decide to navigate the foibles of their first serious relationship together.
Ongoing
#Blessed - Joanna is young and frustrated with her love life. She thinks playing around with a dating app will improve her situation, but things only get worse when a mistaken swipe locks her into a contract with a gaggle of godly beings who all want a chance at dating her. She has to choose one of them in the end, and they won’t leave her alone, but the rest is in her hands.
Aerial Magic - Wisteria Kemp is a textblind mage who dreams of doing aerial magic professionally. Her only hope of joining a guild and being officially qualified is an apprenticeship. Apprentices are a dying practice, so the only person who would take her on lives in a city far away from her town. Wisteria has to not only learn as much as she can from Cecily, but navigate interacting with Cecily’s son Lachlan and her employees Amal and Killian.
Assassin Roommate - Mags isn’t the most adept in social situations with new people, but she needs a roommate to afford her new place. She’s read all about the problems of being too close to one’s roommate, so she’s determined to be strictly professional. And as friendly and gorgeous as her new roommate Kurt is, he could never know about her job as an assassin even if they did get close.
Castle Swimmer - Many of the underwater kingdoms of merfolk have prophecies, but they all have one thing in common: they center around a golden mer called The Beacon arriving and bestowing some boon upon the kingdom. The shark kingdom is a cursed community, hoping against hope for The Beacon to arrive and fulfill their prophecy… of being killed by their prince to lift the curse. But what happens when neither prince nor beacon want any of this prophecy burden?
The Croaking - Humanoids with the wings of birds populate an island civilization. As an Osprey, Ky Cedoc is an unusual recruit at the Roost military academy. As a Crow, Scra Eldwode is even more unusual. How perfect, then, that these two misfits are placed as roommates on top of having met right before the semester started. Well, not so perfect, since Scra is hardly around, sneaking out every night, and there are whispers among the city gangs about something called The Croaking.
Crumbs - Urban fantasy meets easygoing slice of life. Every Friday, Ray makes a trip to her favorite magical bakery, where customers can buy pastries imbued with confidence, inspiration, anything you can imagine. Every week, Ray walks in and has her favorite flavor: romance. And one day, the baker’s nephew reaches out to her.
Empyrea - Soul-stealing demons known as keres plague the twelve realms, and only the Aetherborn knights have the power to combat them. Tristan, otherwise known as Hawk, is a strange knight who refuses to serve a lord. Kira is a young inventor straining against the expectations of her family. The two cross paths one night, and their lives begin to change.
Freaking Romance - Zylith is striking out on her own after being thrown out of her parents’ home at age 18. The only apartment she can afford on her savings was reported by previous tenants to be haunted, which only intrigues Zylith more because of her fondness for the paranormal. She’s excited to start seeing a boy who seems like a ghost around her apartment, until she and her friend do some digging and find out the last girl who lived there disappeared after seeing him.
I Love Yoo - Yoo Shin-Ae couldn’t care less about romance. She cares way more about food and making ends meet, and she loudly rejects any sort of advances. Through a series of shenanigans at a party, Shin-Ae’s life ends up entangled with two boys, one who takes a shine to her immediately and one who’s just as prickly about girls as she is about boys.
Ketchup - Soulmates aren’t necessarily a romantic relationship, but they do have a link that can pass glimpses of the five senses as well as emotions between the pair. Riley and Kelyn were childhood friends, but right when Riley was figuring out that they were linked, one wrong move destroyed their friendship. Years later, they’re reunited when Kelyn finally discovers their link. Kelyn wants to rekindle their old bond, but Riley still carries a grudge from their falling out.
Lackadaisy - In a version of prohibition-era St. Louis populated by anthropomorphic cats, the Lackadaisy speakeasy was once a booming beacon of night life. But with its owner dead, his widow Mitzi is left with a ragtag handful of employees and not enough booze to go around for her few customers. Mitzi will be damned before she sees the place her husband built die, and she will do whatever it takes to put Lackadaisy back on top.
Lore Olympus - This modern retelling of the Taking of Persephone sees the mythological Greek gods and heroes in a metropolitan setting. Persephone is a country mouse at her first big city party, and Aphrodite decides to play a trick on her and grim Hades. Persephone and Hades end up thoroughly embarrassed, but also oddly enchanted.
Mage & Demon Queen - The demon tower is a gauntlet where adventurers of the highest order test their mettle, but very few make it to the top, where the demon queen Velverosa dwells, and no one has ever managed to kill her. Many have died trying, respawning back in town to tell the tale. Malori is a young mage who climbs the tower countless times. She faces the demon queen over and over, in hopes of wooing her.
Melody of Orange - The Curse of Eve binds soulmates together, not by a love link but by a death link. When one dies, the other will die in the same manner, no matter the situation. While love isn’t explicitly part of the curse, soulmates are generally encouraged to be together. However, when Mikan meets a scary boy she finds to be her soulmate, she wants nothing to do with him. It’s not for the reasons you might think; it’s Mikan herself who’s carrying an intense guilt that makes her feel unworthy of happiness.
Nothing Special - Callie doesn’t think of herself as anything special, not when there are fairies, demons, and all sorts of magical creatures just beyond a doorway. A boy from her school disagrees when he’s freaked out by his sudden ability to see spirits and impressed by her knowledge of the supernatural. Together, they embark on a journey through the spirit world to save Callie’s dad, and maybe learn a little about themselves and each other along the way.
Siren’s Lament - Lyra is a bit of a wallflower, content with her ordinary life, content to run her flower shop and silently pine for her friend Shon while he dates someone else. But one night, her emotions get the better of her, and she ends up involved in a curse with a siren named Ian. Ian is the opposite of helpful, and the curse he brought with him is nothing but a burden, but he does challenge Lyra to seize the day and ask for more from her simple life.
Strawberry Seafoam - The Delphic Academy teaches magic to young mermaids who hope to one day become powerful Delphiniums. Frasei is one such mermaid, eager to follow in her mother’s footsteps, and her life does not at all go according to plan. Dark forces begin to mobilize around the academy, and Frasei finds herself the only one able to combat them with her newfound unique ability to transform her tail.
Tyran Awakening - Zoe is an average teen living in the not too distant future. When she picks a fight with some bullies, however, something unbelievable happens. She survives certain death, and she begins to feel powerful. Almost like a dragon. Ancient forces are awakened, and the only one Zoe feels she can trust with all this is her friend (or maybe more) Marthe.
unOrdinary - It’s a given in this world that just about everyone has some kind of superpower. John Doe is a rare exception, having no ability at all yet somehow going to a school with a high premium on abilities. He firmly believes that might shouldn’t make right, but it’s only due to his high-tier friend Seraphina that he hasn’t been beaten to death several times over for ignoring the hierarchy in place. (Warning for repeated use of the word “cripple” to describe John’s lack of powers)
