The Waffen SS is closing in. The prisoners have been freed and we have given them firearms to defend themselves too. The time has come. I will keep you updated after the battle. I am no longer Nazi. I am German. - Otto

The bizarre Battle for Castle Itter.
The Battle of Castle Itter is a remarkable event from World War II, often referred to as one of the strangest battles of the war. It took place on May 5, 1945, in the final days of the conflict in Europe. Castle Itter, located in Austria, was being used as a prison for high-profile French prisoners, including former prime ministers, generals, and other prominent figures. As the war drew to a…

Random ww2 fact :3
Tumblr media
The battle of Castle Itter (Schloss Itter in German) was fought on the 5th of May 1945 in the Austrian village of Itter, five days after the suicide of Adolf Hitler.
The castle, a former prison for high-profile political captives of Nazi Germany, was defended by the former prisoners and the Austrian anti-nazi resistance, together with troops from the U.S. Army and a unit of recent defectors from the German Army.
Attacking the newly liberated castle was a force of SS Panzergrenadiers.
It is often cited as (probably) the only battle in World War 2 where American and German troops fought side by side.

the battle of castle itter isn’t even an exceptional event anymore, with the state of the paramilitaries and ideological trends across every faction in the Russo-Ukrainian war there are like a dozen different hitlerite groups doing battle against one another at any given moment

Sk-Itter-i Toilet
Idle musing: if/when G-Toilet and Scientist Toilet are defeated, will we see a 'Battle of Castle Itter' type episode?
The Battle of Castle Itter took place near the end of WWII, and is one of only 2 battles in that war in which Americans and Germans fought side by side. The American soldiers and deserting German soldiers fought together to liberate French prisoners that were being held in Castle Itter by loyalist Nazis. The soldiers and the freed prisoners then defended the castle against another wave of Nazis before being relieved by more American soldiers. It's often called 'the strangest battle' in WWII.
I'm thinking: the Skibidi Toilets are cult-of-personality based, and once the two leaders are taken out, many of the rest will go 'oh well' and stop bothering to fight the Hardware Alliance. Some of them might end up aiding the Alliance against toilets that are still fiercely loyal to their fallen leaders and determined to carry out their mission.

Considering we get like a thousand movies about World War 2 a year, it's criminal that we don't have one about The Battle of Castle Itter.
Like not only do you have French, Germans and Americans fighting on the same side against other Germans, but you also have them doing so whilst defending a medieval Austrian castle.
And that's just the basic rundown of the battle, that's not getting into things like the castle getting a phone call mid-battle and someone picking up the phone or the French Olympian vaulting over the castle wall to help guide reinforcements to the castle and also that guy didn't do high jump, he was a tennis player.
If we have to have five million WW2 movies a year, can we at least get one about this battle that feels like a war historian's fever dream?
