Die Burg Rötteln ist die Ruine einer Spornburg oberhalb des namensgebenden Weilers Rötteln auf der Gemarkung des Lörracher Ortsteils Haagen im äußersten Südwesten von Baden-Württemberg. Die im Volksmund als Röttler Schloss bekannte Burg mit zwei großen Wehrtürmen war eine der mächtigsten im Südwesten und ist die drittgrößte Burgruine Badens.[1] Sie wird seit dem 19. Jahrhundert gegen weiteren Verfall konserviert. Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg, Southwestern Germany, is close to the French and Swiss borders. The largest industry is the Milka chocolate factory. Nearby is the castle of Rötteln, whose lords became the counts of Hachberg and a residence of the Margraves of Baden; it was destroyed by the troops of French Louis XIV in 1678, and rebuilt in 1867. Lörrach received market rights in 1403 and city but privileges in 1682. After the Napoleonic epoch, it was included in the Grand Duchy of Baden. It’s the hometown of Ottmar Hitzfeld, one of Germany’s most successful football managers. The climate is mild, and in the summer, it can get hot. The region of the Markgräflerland is the warmest in Germany due to Mediterranean air currents from the valley of the Rhône. Because of its many sunny days, the region is dubbed „the German Tuscany“.
