January Performances – Anne Sofie von Otter, Béla Fleck, Martin Hayes, and Streichquartettfest Heidelberg
This month, we’re hitting the road for performances in Sweden, Germany, the US, Ireland, and the UK. We’re joining some of our favorite collaborators, including mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, banjoist Béla Fleck, and fiddler Martin Hayes.
First off, we join Anne Sofie at the Malmö Live Konserthus on January 11, followed by an evening at the Nikolaisaal in Potsdam, Germany on January 12. We had a blast touring with Anne Sofie in the fall of 2016, following the release of our recording So Many Things – excited to be reuniting for these shows. We then make our way back to the states, starting in Texas where we meet up with the one and only Béla Fleck at Dallas’ Majestic Theatre on January 14 and at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center on January 15. With Béla, you can also catch us in Edmond, OK at the Armstrong Auditorium (Jan 16), Fayetteville, AR at the Walton Arts Center (Jan 17), Beaver Creek, CO at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (Jan 19), Boulder, CO at the Macky Auditorium – University of Colorado, Boulder (Jan 20), and in Billings, MT at the Alberta Bair Theater (Jan 21). Our collaboration with Béla goes back several years to Night Flight Over Water for string quartet and banjo, written for us and heard on The Impostor in 2013. You can also hear us together in Griff and the Quintet for Banjo and Strings on Juno Concerto, released just last spring.
We then make our way back across the pond (epic routing!) to join Irish fiddler Martin Hayes, performing at the National Concert Hall in Dublin on January 24 and at the Barbican Centre in London on January 25. Looking ahead, we're putting the finishing touches on an upcoming collaborative album with Martin! More on that soon!
January 27 sees a marathon of performances in Germany at the Streichquartettfest Heidelberg – we're honored to perform alongside a formidable cast of fellow quartets, including the Asasello Quartet, Castalian String Quartet, Quatuor Diotima, and Zemlinsky Quartet.
