“Son of a BIT-“ Az lunged for window.

Cassian quickly flew around the window you were falling from and caught you as you were laughing. “You little brat-“

At least it was him who caught you. You didn’t last long till Rhys got ahold of your mind and awoke to a nice scolding.

@faceofpoe has introduced me to the wonderful love hexagon that is bix x melshi x cassian, can't WAIT to do more damage to these three's psyche, can you imagine??!

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

I've genuinely improved??!! This was the first year after nearly three years where I wrote more consistently and more deliberately, with intent. My writing style has improved, and I can ensure that challenging characters like Cassian and Melshi don't lose their complexity in the context of a fic.

So. Yeah. Definitely the fact that I can see my writing evolve.

Id like to shout out my friends who dealt with me not wanting to finish this since October. I almost gave up because 1. I didn't like the pose 2. I wanna change my janey design

I did just use a bg off Google cuz I cannot draw backgrounds + the layout make me mad and ibis alr deep fryed the quality (tbf I chose. The WORST brush and only swapped halfway)

I'm still (still!!!) on my wishful thinking train. I was glad to get Cassian's POV, but I wish there was more prose about flying because Cassian is an Illyrian General dealing with Illyrian war camps. (I was thinking war games or demonstrations of formations, breakouts, vertical rolls, barrel rolls, zoom climbs, anything!)

And then there was this point in ACOWAR where Cassion bemoans that Nesta will never fly again after a flight with Rhysand makes her violently ill. She does, obviously, because there are few other options to access the House of Wind, but none of it was particularly ~romantic~. I wanted a Flying Scene™ à la Aladdin or How To Train Your Dragon, dammit.

Just watched Mi-go's stream from last night, and I noticed something.

Mi-go has noticed Aura's anxious interest in what happens to criminals, she thought star was worried for them, they probably are, but still. First, has any other character noticed? Second, I think there's more to it, so let me ramble for a second

Aura doesn't strike me as the type to lie often, and they aren't the best liar ever. When Romeo and Asrickus asked star if they were also a criminal, Aura said, "I'm just a mechanic", technically not a lie, could be seen as an omission of truth since Aura very well could be seen as a criminal now, they've stolen Cassion property, technically.

Now, of course, Navi is a living thing that can't be stolen more kidnapped, maybe, but it is the Cassions power source, and are viewed as such, so by that logic, Aura has stolen a very powerful and sought-after power source.

I believe Coil works with Rionear sometimes. The Cassion is a Rionear ship, so there's a chance Coil will also be after them. Obviously, I doubt anyone off the planet knows Aura is alive, and that star took Navi with them. Really, we only need to be worried about the captain truly knowing what Navi is, and I believe they are either dead or ditched Vic to fuck off somewhere. However, Aura knows. Star knows they'd be seen as a criminal by other Rionears and possibly Coil if word got to them, and they act as one would with that knowledge, which is to mean not well.

Add that to the fact that only Aura and Daiv know what Navi is, and everyone else seems very interested in using the Rionear power source, and you get a very anxious mechanic with too much yet not enough information. I truly don't think anyone on the planet would be that upset with Aura for taking Navi and hiding its true identity, some might even agree that that was a good decision, however, Aura doesn't know that.

So, my friend @hlizr50 posted this lovely art during Gwynriel week and it inspired an idea that's been rolling around in my head until I finally spit it out in Word tonight. So, don't mind any typos or grammar, I did exactly zero editing 😅 Enjoy!

A distinctly masculine yelp called the entire training ring’s attention to the far end where Gwyn was…. Hanging from the Shadowsinger’s back… side? It was hard to tell from this angle. All Cassian knew for sure was Gwyn’s coppery head was much higher than it should be, and her feet were wrapped somewhere around Az’s middle, rather than on the ground. His brother stumbled at the sudden shift in weight, his wings flaring wide.

As Cassian watched, Az managed to pry one of Gwyn’s legs from around his torso but she quickly scrambled around his body, repositioning herself until she had somehow draped her body across the back of his neck, one of his arms grasped between hers, the other between her thighs.

“Son of a-” Az’s words cut off with a growl as he again attempted to free himself from her hold. He could hear Gwyn snarl at him to yield, which of course Azriel refused- as he should. He wasn’t defeated yet.

But cauldron, did they look ridiculous. 

Nesta and Emerie appeared at this side, wearing amused looks as they watched their friend make a proper fool out of the famed Spymaster. “What do you even call that hold?” Emerie asked with a snort as Azriel’s wings bent and stretched, trying to stabilize him while he worked to get free.

“I think it’s called a Nelson?” Cassion shrugged trying not to laugh as Gwyn “accidentally” kicked Az’s wing, drawing another strangled yelp from him. “But I’ve never seen it done like that…’ 

He finally loosed a grin as an idea came to him. Focusing his mind, he called out to Rhys, hoping his brother was paying attention wherever he was in the city. A moment later, a smooth voice spoke in his mind “Yes, Cassian?”

“You gotta see this.”

Rhys gave an intrigued hum. “Is that so?” There was a brush at his mind and Cassian opened a small window for his brother to see through his eyes. 

Just then. Az managed to find a ticklish spot behind Gwyn’s knee, loosening her hold with a squeal. Before he could pull her off of him completely, however, she scrambled around again, somehow hooking one leg around his back, one over his shoulder, ankles locked together, and both hands wrapped behind his neck.

This time the shift of weight unbalanced him entirely, sending him to his knees… Gwyn still hanging from his neck.

Cassian couldn’t help a chuckle then as a matching one sounded in his mind. He felt a pause on Rhys’ end before he felt another presence in his mind. “Oh my,” Feyre giggled. “How did she get up there?”

“I don’t know, I heard a shout and turned around to find her hanging off him. Everytime he manages to get an arm free, she moves and traps him again,” Cassian laughed. “We might want to consider ear plugs for the poor priestesses, Az’s been cursing up a storm the last couple minutes.”

Az wedged a hand beneath the thigh wrapped over his shoulder- dangerously high- and Nesta whistled. “You usually have to pay to get that handsy, Shadowsinger. Watch it!”

The hand quickly disappeared with a frustrated growl, and Gwyn, the cheek, laughed merrily at his predicament. From the corner of his eye, Cassian caught sight of Mor and Amren perched on lounge chairs, watching the show. How and when they had gotten here, he wasn’t sure. But they were turning his training ring into theater and he should probably say something, but he was too entertained by the spectacle.

After a few more moments of struggling - each attempt at tickling Gwyn now resulted in her thrashing about and shrieking, battering Az’s poor wings even further, even as she clung to him like a magnet- until finally, Az’s wings drooped with a sigh. 

“Do you yield?” Gwyn asked cautiously, still holding tight. There was a mumble and then- “What was that? I couldn’t hear you?”

“Yes, I yield. Gods damn it.”

Immediately, Gwyn dropped to the ground, rolling numbly from underneath him and springing to her feet with a triumphant crow. Nesta and Emerie burst out laughing while the other priestesses rushed over to congratulate Gwyn on besting the Symaster. Mor, who apparently wanted more of a show, booed loudly and tossed popcorn in Az’s direction, which Cassian had no idea how she’d gotten.

“Is he- blushing?” Feyre asked.

Sure enough, Az had slunk off to the side of the ring, his cheeks pink as he gingerly rubbed his shoulder. His shadows, which had been dancing around him and Gwyn throughout the entire bout, not interfering, now twirled in the air behind him. If he didn’t know better, Cass would think they were laughing. “Yes, Darling, I think he is.”

I feel like when Aura finding out about why people are being kind to star I don't think they'll become like a villain maybe a "Sunshine Character" becomes a " Morally Grey Anti Hero".

I feel like star's breaking point is if something happens to Navi,cause of how protective they are over it, and just add how everyone is looking for the Cassion and the Starcore in general, already makes them anxious.

I like how silly most of the characters are between the flirting, escaping the law, flirting with the law [ technically bounty hunter,but who's really checking/silly], and I mean Hey! now everyone can be friends since there is no law and no way off the planet so money isn't their first priority :]

I think more people need to think about how Melshi joined the rebellion after he and Cassion escaped Narkina 5 and how he was part of the attack on Scarif and died helping Bohdi contact the rebel fleet to tell them to open the gate so Cassian and Jyn could transmit the death star plans
