I hate how they're making Laura prop Esme... BUT Laura raised a kid on the run for 10 yrs. She knows better than anyone how hard and dangerous it is EXCEPT that she and Luke where running from a mob boss whereas Nik is hiding from the law

So Ace is a smidge safer. But he's still facing a very unstable childhood with Nik versus the complicated one he had

And it doesn't change the fact that Ace is alone with an absolute stranger
