“Well, they might have snacks over at the concession stands for the ones wayching the race.” Lily explained to Leon.
“Also, there were some Halloween Grand Prix races and the winner gets the prize money in candy.” She smiled.
“Hello. You’re Leon?” Lily Flyer asked
((Oh my goodness, I actually forgot this account even existed! My bad! ^^; I'll respond to this still, of course!)) Leon was minding his own business, somewhere between thinking about the next race and lost in a daydream all his own. His thoughts abruptly stopped as someone asked him if he was... Well, himself. He tilted his head at the one who spoke, "Hello, I-I am."

► Fic Rec Friday ◄
» The Divine Magnet by end_alls (@toppiegames) Rated T | 2.5k | Complete Summary: The aquarium date as a vector for marine facts and the intimacy of being understood
This fic just so excellently captures as an aspect of ship I enjoy dearly: how absolutely bizarre these two character get when you put them together. This fic valiantly carries the torch into exciting new territories, specifically, competitive fish facts. The aquarium date is such a good moment to expand upon, and I love the little flashes we get of both Akira's vulnerability, Akechi's slipping facade, and the tenderness that can happen between them.

“Would it kill you to be a little more careful?” Joker sighed as he pushed open the heavy, velvet-lined door.
The detective prince gave him an automatic smile. “As I believe I’ve already said, Joker, I’m really quite alright.”
His assurance was betrayed by the arm wrapped around Joker’s shoulder as he leaned his body weight into him and the slight limp in his right leg. He winced slightly as he adjusted his body in order to fit through the single door Joker held open, still relying on him to support his weight. Joker let the door swing shut, a faint click indicating their safety.
“Sit,” Joker said, signaling towards a chair at the table in the center of the room.
“No need to be so demanding,” Crow replied indignantly. He let go of Joker’s shoulder, which he had been unaware he was gripping so tightly, and sat down at the chair Joker had indicated.
Joker sat in the chair adjacent to Crow and began to dig through the first aid kit he had left on the table.
Crow crossed his arms and glanced down at his right leg. The white fabric of his pants leg was torn, revealing an ugly gash, still wet with blood, that stained the surrounding area a crimson red. Akechi knew that once he left the metaverse, the most that would be there is the equivalent of a paper cut. But right now, he was still in the metaverse, and unfortunately, it was still very much bleeding, and still very much painful.
Having found what he was looking for, Joker huffed and faced Crow. “…Here.”
Akechi strained himself in trying not to tense up as Joker rested one hand on Akechi’s thigh and leaned down as the other hand took a damp cloth and gently wiped the blood from the wound. “Seems like an Ose can do some real damage if you get sloppy, huh?”
Akechi scoffed. “I suppose I wasn’t putting my all into that fight.” And you know that full well, don’t you, Robin Hood?
Joker looked up at the regally-clad boy and grinned. “After all, being a hindrance to your team isn’t your concern. You’re fighting for yourself, aren’t you?” The words took on an almost accusatory tone, dripping ever so slightly with disdain. The damp cloth was lifted from Akechi’s wound and set aside.
Crow widened his eyes. “Ah, if I really am being a hindrance….” A stinging pain suddenly struck his cut. A swab of hydrogen peroxide was being pushed against it, chilling the entire area.
“You know I’m messing around with you. Everyone else is still on guard in the slot room. They’re just fine with waiting.”
Crow nodded, then chuckled quietly. He lowered his voice and leaned downwards towards the top of Joker’s head. “And just why are you letting me hold you back, then?”
The cold sensation that was just on his cut suddenly turned to an uncomfortable fizzling as the hydrogen peroxide bubbled on the surface of the broken skin.
Ren raised his head and looked up. Crow’s eyes, no longer obscured by his mask, pierced directly through Joker. Ren’s eyes pierced right back through Akechi. Ren narrowed his eyes. “Couldn’t I ask the same of you?”
Akechi’s gaze did not falter as Ren broke eye contact to reach for the roll of ace bandage. He kept still as he allowed Ren to reach behind the broken fabric on his pants to wrap the bandage around the area, slowly and deliberately. Ren’s purpose in his uncharacteristically meticulous work was left to Akechi’s imagination— until an ungloved hand reached for his face and grasped his jaw.
Ren used his hand to tilt Akechi’s gaze upwards, towards his own face. The two sat with their faces a few inches apart. Akechi’s expression of satisfaction had turned to a scowl, and Ren noticed the rest of his posture had tensed significantly.
“Why are you holding yourself back by working with me?” Ren asked calmly.
“You think I’m holding back?” Akechi snapped, his face still in Ren’s warm hand.
Ren tilted his head ever so slightly. “Of course you are, Akechi. When are you not?”
When was he not? That was a good question. Akechi said nothing in response.
Ren’s hand reached more for his face. His thumb brushed Akechi’s cheekbone, his index finger swept over his jaw. “You’re always holding back.”
“And here you are, tending to my injury like it’s your own,” came a bitter reply.
Ren let go of Akechi’s face and leaned back. “You think I care about my own injuries enough for this kind of thing?” He tore the end of the bandage and finished wrapping Akechi’s leg. He focused his gaze back onto Akechi’s face. “Why do you really choose to work with me?”
Crow sighed as he sat up in his own seat. “It’s simply convenient, is all. You don’t really believe I could still support the Phantom Thieves, after all? Especially not their leader, an outlaw such as yourself. Even if we work together, we’re still not on the same side.”
Joker hummed. “You’ve said something to a similar effect many times before. I wonder how much you really believe that, Akechi-kun.”
Akechi wasn’t sure. He hasn’t been sure what he believes regarding Ren Amamiya for several months. The only thing he does know is that he has to die. He has to die because Goro Akechi cannot risk leaving an obstacle as great as him.
