Now, this pairing has a special place in my heart. Samurai was the first series I watched, all the way back when I was eleven, and Jayden and Antonio's dynamic is what first hooked me on Power Rangers. It was the first thing I really ever shipped before I even knew what shipping was. (Antonio, is that you? Believe it baby, I'm back! Still think you can take me?) It, more than any other ship in Power Rangers, feels the most canon (even more than actual canon ones). It DEFINES Samurai. It is possibly the one thing that canon Samurai does right.

And thus, here is the playlist for it. Shout out to @khruschevshoe for the "Waterloo" addition- it wasn't on my initial playlist when writing but it is the absolute perfect song to embody these idiots as they get their shit together.

Do You Like Epic? Check this shit out!

I'm a big fan of Jorge Rivera-Herrans and his Epic: The Musical albums, and just really into concept albums and album musicals as a whole. I didn't immediately think of this when I saw a clip on Instagram from Eight Immortals, a new "song cycle" from Sam Tsui and Casey Breves. It was a segment from the song "#MyMorningRoutine" - which got unhinged very quickly in a way I loved.

Knowing nothing about the musical aside from the fact that the album just came out on the sixth, I just put it on while I biked to work. Turns out - you'll know this if you're a non-Greek mythology buff - but Tsui and Breves' musical is actually an adaptation of the beloved figures from Taoist mythology who each found a way to ascend to immortality.

The Eight Immortals depicts modern incarnations of these divine figues - "#MyMorningRoutine", for instance, turns He Xiangu - who was said to have ascended to heaven in broad daylight after a diet of mica powder assigned to her by a vision from a god - into an increasingly-manic, wellness-obsessed Mommy Blogger. This is still my favorite song on the track - but I'm also pretty obsessed with "Make it Right", which is a spin on the myth of Cao Guojiu from the perspective of his troubled brother.

This album rules and it like just came out. I am really into seeing adaptations of mythology other than Greek and Roman and maybe Norse. I'm sure more exist and because of this I'm more inspired to parse through the mess that is Google to find some.

But yeah if you like being on the cutting edge of some shit tons of people don't know about yet, check this album out.

EDIT: Also because of this album I can now learn about Lan Caihe, a gender ambiguous patron of music and flowers who has been depicted as both intersex and gnc over decades and through different artists. That rules.

Em resposta, a deusa o amaldiçoou a uma eternidade sem amor.
