With the entry of House Stark into the narrative of HotD in S2, Ryan Condal felt it necessary to create a real version of Ned Stark's sword Ice for Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) to use.

The crafting of Ice is shown in the the vid. An unreal amount of effort and attention went into it. It may be as close as we've yet gotten to a real life Valyrian steel sword.

Evil people are able to hold power because they have retinues of sycophants who grovel and pander to them in order to obtain favors as they jockey for additional power for themselves. Sadly, there's no shortage of such people either in ASoIaF or in real life.
