Ooohhh! Interesting one for her!! Had to give a think on it as she never has kids and doesn’t want them (and is a uh bit of a war criminal), but this is under the assumption she had to travel with a child and act parental for a purpose of some kind. tw for mentions of abuse

Carly in short is a lot of things, but she would never stoop to hitting nor withholding things one needs to survive from a child. She will yell, get frustrated with a kid, and hell pull them away from the danger and make them sit with restraints if needed, but even if that is the case she’s still letting them go to the bathroom and eat and all that jazz. She will also if it’s not going to kill them let the kid learn from experience and do the stupid thing and get hurt. Carly relies a lot on fear to keep people in line and she toes the line in regards to children from an outside perspective on just what’s fear and what’s abuse, she’s prone to thinking and wanting to repeat the patterns and punishments she grew up with but won’t go through with what was done to her that she deems as a punishment (so the bad end of that spectrum), so she will never neglect a child’s basic physical needs (she’s not that emotionally available) and she will never hit/beat a child (this does also apply to context of war that she herself would never do it). In short she’s very rough with a kid and she’s aware enough to adjust for age but she’s not as cruel as one would assume her to be based on her past behavior.

Carly was severely abused by her mother (especially with food to a point she can no longer eat properly) until she was able to learn dancing with blades and killed her mother to be free, and once out on her own she took on Dark Knight to deal with the anger and pain she had from all of that. While in game you acknowledge the bad and dark side of you, she went the opposite in embracing the dark and hiding away that “goodness” and light and when she summons her shadow it does appear grey and as sixteen year old her because at the end of the day the person she was most wanting to protect was herself and have the strength to make sure that version of her never has to suffer at the hands of another, protecting that inner child essentially.

🖊 I don't remember if I discussed this on here at one point but the biggest flaw that Stasia has in her og universe is that she's very traditionalist when it comes to magic. She hardly every took from other regions that weren’t European or the very least Western society as she felt that she knew everything and no one else really had anything else to offer her that she didn’t already have. This even translated into how she was with her bloodline. Men were never taught magic in her family traditionally, only the oldest and youngest female, as they didn’t see men as caring enough to fully grasp magic and the heart of it as they were a line of healers. While the art was lost to many those that were her direct descendents still kept up with teaching their children and primarily their daughters....until Conner’s mom kept with her rebel aesthetic and taught him from the get go and had no other children. Not only was this male being taught their family’s traditions he also had the gall to have a warlock as a father! The last bit of rubbing salt in the wound is that Conner’s mom was named after her twin but simply said a Z is cooler than an S, but still Stasia hates it. It took her so long to find him and his mom due to the fact that they weren’t as traditional and took magic from everywhere getting creative in combining different aspects to suit their needs. So this woman would much rather see her bloodline end than have it suffer any more scandal.

🖊 While FF!Stasia has a power that no one has really seen in a long long time she still took the route of learning magic the hard way to supplement the natural affinity, though it still has its source as creation magics like her father and mentor. This woman though also likes to plan for various worst cases and also took lessons in the blade, it just wasn't the sword. She will have a dagger upon her for the close combat and ending lives very personally, but her weapon of choice when having to go into battle is a lance. This becomes pretty vital in the Final Days as her magic now is a high risk situation. It is in no one's best interest for her help to also make the problem worse by just a simple protective wall spell turning into the very monster you wanted to sheild away from. Yes there becomes a silent competition between her and Estinien on who's better and who ends the most monsters.

🖊 In the FF universe Stasia doesn’t actually know if she’s truly immortal or incapable of aging past a certain point and she doesn’t really want to put it to the test out of fear that she’ll die before she wants to. To combat this fear she partakes in the darker side of magic and every decade or so she sacrifices a few people to keep herself looking young and adding years to her life. In all reality she can manipulate her body to look however she wants, but she cannot transfer herself into a new one. Stasia is immortal but will age and can still be killed much easier than other Ascians. She is though able to travel between reflections without having to switch to a whole new body unlike her counter parts, a big reason as to why her father was very adament to strengthening her power before she was even double digits in age. 

🖊 In og verse Carly is about late 30′s to early 40′s when she finally kills her mother, however FF!Carly is about 15 when she commits matricide and runs away. However, given the ages of when this even occured there is a distinct difference in just how these acts looked. In the og it was much slower, much more tortureous, and you can tell she made that woman suffer every second of it, in FF it was a much more impulsive looking kill despite the planning she put into it. The dancer blades helped in making the cuts clean, but there was much more blood and a very hasty clean up/presentation of the body for others to find.

🖊 FF!Carly is a few years older than Zenos but looks younger due to the fact that she took up Stasia’s offer to give a little extra life. This is something that does surprise those that find out as many like to assume she’s younger than Zenos by about 5 years when its the oppisite.

Frisk: This kid is a Swiftie. All the eras. They love everything Taylor has to offer, Debut through Reputation and every genre she covers in between. Generally speaking, mid-2000s pop is their jam. They love a bit of Colbie Caillat! Love some Carly Rae Jepsen! Also, are you gonna look at the Mettaton fight and tell me this kid doesn’t go hard to Gaga? Has definitely lip-synched to TiK ToK by Kesha in the mirror at least once.

Chara: They’re along for the ride with Frisk, and as cheesy as they think some of their friend’s pop favorites are, they live for them deep-down. Don’t ask them about it directly, though. They’re the reason “Stay Stay Stay” (Taylor’s Version) has been stuck in Frisk’s head for the past week. Frisk isn’t complaining! They go HARD to MCR and have been forcing Frisk to follow the live tour with them. Gerard’s flamethrower fit was their fave. Their top album? Three Cheers. Frisk vibes more with Danger Days though, so the two tend to listen to it more often.

Kris: A contrarian. When the reddit post dropped (you know the one), they started listening to Cbat unironically and simply didn’t stop. They don’t plan on it. If a song has been dubbed a meme song, it’s on their playlist now. They’ll never acknowledge whether they’re doing it for the bit or not- that’s how invested in the bit they are. All Star. Take On Me. The Minecraft “Mine Diamonds” parody of Take On Me by that one kid on YouTube. They listened to 100 gecs long after tiktok deemed it “uncool”. Notably, they’re a fan of Ska (Asriel introduced them to it, and they take his recs very seriously). They’re incredibly well versed in the genre and are knowledgeable about its deep and significant cultural history. No one suspects their love for it is a bit, because it isn’t.

3) this is such a good question ahh i love it here for a lot of reasons!! writing fic about characters i have a deep connection to and care about a lot is obv fun on its own, but seeing so many other ppl on tumblr care ab the same charas and write fics that i love reading has def kept my interest going when it would have flagged in isolation. like honestly im love the community, i know it’s got Issues lol but when it’s good it’s so good. also writing fics is just bite-sized escapist immersion tailored to my exact tastes 💓 writing here has been great low-pressure practice in expression, character exploration, and relationship development for me and basically. i just enjoy it lots lmao it’s good!

Little Known Fact

There was an original version of Undead Tale I wrote back in 2017 or even late 2016 (the dates are fuzzy at best).

It was completely different in tone, writing, character designs, plot... it was basically a different story but with a similar starting point.

I felt like drawing the Sans design from that version, now called "Classic", compared to the final design, or the "True" design, as I consider the current version of Undead Tale the true, final version.

Here is the drawing, and below that will be a list of all the changes and descriptions of the differences behind a read more as to keep the post nice to see if someone just wants to look at the art (the stuff below the read more goes very in depth, be warned, it's long).

Let's start from the beginning with what changed:

Both stories start with an outbreak stemming from the lab, however,

Classic does not have the backstory of a corrupted reset corrupting the amalgamates and determinations properties. The origins in Classic were never explored.

In the True version, the origins were explored, and the reason why the world is the way it is is also explored through Before the Reset.

In Classic, Undyne fights a massive amalgamate thing in the Lab in the very beginning of the story instead of slowly easing into the events of the outbreak, which True did.

Chara was never present in Classic, and also there was no controlling force of the corrupted.

Corrupted is a term only in True, Classic doesn't have a term to refer to the infected monsters.

Both stories have Frisk fall after the initial outbreak, but Frisk in Classic falls way earlier than Frisk in True (as far as I can see, the timeline of Classic, unfortunately, is not very clear)

Classic explores the surface and humanity above during the events of the Underground. In True, the surface is only seen when Frisk falls and after monster kind escapes. Humanity in True wiped itself out with a war where the details aren't known, and won't be explored, as it's not important. In Classic, there is an outbreak similar to the Underground on the surface which causes an apocalypse.

Both stories have Sans lose an eye, though, as seen in the image, the eye is swapped. Beyond that, there are differences in the two Sans.

Classic Sans is a silently hopeful character, different from normal Sans compared to True, who is basically normal Sans but with some darker tendencies and visions of past timelines (called moments in the story).

Classic Sans lost most if not all magic ability when he was struck by Undyne, resorting to using physical weapons such as pipes or any blunt weapon.

True Sans retains most magic ability, such as teleportation, time stopping, and bones, he just can't use them as often. He does lose Gaster Blasters however, as they would take too much magical energy for him to muster normally.

Classic's outfit has a fluffy hood and a zipped up, torn hoodie, compared to True, who is normal Sans with bandages wrapped around the left side of his skull.

Classic only lost his eye, True had the whole left side of his skull horribly mangled and fractured, which is why the bandage size of both is different.

Classic only has the bandage, True also has the device strapped to his ribs that connects with his soul to amplify the healing process.

True Sans has what are called "moments", where he'll freeze up as he sees a vision of a past timeline, either consisting of the Judgement Hall or of Snowdin which get worse until reaching a turning point in the story near the halfway point. Classic has no such things.

Moving on from Sans, let's go into the other characters in general

Papyrus in Classic retains some confidence, however, he is much more broken and emotionally torn, acting out of character at points (pretty much everyone in Classic is out of character).

True Papyrus is very much like normal Papyrus, only taking things a bit more seriously and being more cautious and concerned for his friends, due to his circumstances.

Classic Papyrus has a kill count of normal monsters, True, however, does not.

Classic Papyrus and Snowdin in general are enemies of the Royal Guard, due to a plot point where Snowdin and the Royal Guard enter a conflict.

True Papyrus and Snowdin are very much allies and apart of the Royal Guard, Papyrus being ranked Lieutenant, commanding all Snowdin units.

Undyne in Classic acts very out of character with the little time she appeared in, she isn't as confident, she's a lot more cold, and attacks Sans with intent to kill.

True Undyne is like normal Undyne, and her attack against Sans was completely accidental, as she meant to attack another character named Fang for kidnapping Sans and Papyrus.

Papyrus and Undyne fight with the intent of killing one another in Classic. In True, Papyrus fights to slow Undyne down and let Sans and Frisk escapes, Undyne fights to get past him and capture/kill Frisk, attempting to pass him with every opportunity, not wanting to hurt him. In True, neither were fighting to kill.

Classic Undyne exiles herself out of shame after her battle with Papyrus in Snowdin. True Undyne remains the Captain of the Royal Guard throughout the entire story.

Classic Asgore is seen too little to really judge his character, same for Alphys. True is normal Asgore but affected by circumstances, again, same for Alphys.

Mettaton in Classic is missing, while Mettaton in True is similar to his normal self, albeit more cruel and harsh when Frisk meets him, becoming a minor antagonist before having a change of heart at the end of their fight in the CORE.

Mettaton's disappearance in Classic would've tied into a plot point, which I'll explore later on.

Classic Toriel allows monsters from Snowdin into the Ruins during the outbreak, accidentally bringing it to the Ruins. No such event happens in True.

Classic Toriel is the most in character of the cast, remaining mostly consistent with normal Toriel. True Toriel is normal Toriel until she leaves the Ruins, where circumstances and events change her.

Classic Flowey is infected very early on, True Flowey remains uninfected and even becomes the controller of the corrupted near the end. In True, he is very much normal Flowey.

Classic Frisk is more like fanon Frisk (meaning she's just a soft little pacifist who wouldn't harm a fly. Glad I didn't continue with this in True, because holy hell that would've been boring).

True Frisk is much more of her own character, she doesn't want to hurt anyone, but she won't hesitate to fight when she knows she's in danger, plus her backstory and her motivations, along with having to deal with the trauma's shes faced later on.

True Frisk also older, being 10 when she first falls and being around 13 at the end. Classic Frisk is around 8 when she falls, if I remember right.

Classic didn't go far enough into the plot for Classic Frisk to even leave the Ruins or have to face inner demons and trauma. True Frisk is very, very different.

Classic Chara doesn't even exist. True Chara is corrupted determination in it's purest form, and is a prominent antagonist, controlling the corrupted at one point.

There are characters exclusive to both version. In True, Fang, Ferno, and the entire gang Fang leads are exclusive to True.

In Classic, the exclusive characters are Artico, Stitch, Rycher (pronounced ri ker for some reason), Carly (Artico's daughter) and Ethan (Artico's son). These characters were a part of a spinoff story called "A New Monarch", which was establishing a new kingdom/rival for the Royal Guard. They would've been antagonists later on, similar to the Saviors from The Walking Dead, if memory serves me right.

Rycher and Stitch would've had been in a relationship later on.

Another exclusive character to Classic is Flynn, who is the third monster Frisk meets after Flowey and Toriel (he was an OC I made on Undertale Amino years ago, my account on which has since been deleted)

There is one more Classic exclusive character named Charlie. I go more in depth on him later.

There are more Classic exclusive characters, but they're not notable enough to go into here.

Finally moving on from characters, we go onto the plot/setting

The basic plot of Classic goes like this (I won't do the same for True, as that is very, very long, and I'd like people to read it on AO3):

The outbreak begins, Asgore is escorted from the Capital as it falls. Sans and Papyrus fight back an attack from Snowdin, and set up defenses.

A plot point arises where the weather in Snowdin becomes harsh, to the point where monsters die outside the village or flee to the Ruins. One of the monsters is bit before hand, and brings the infection into the Ruins, infecting Flowey and beginning to spread there.

Members of the Snowdin Safe Zone steal from the Royal Guard, which causes the Guard to retaliate against Snowdin and assault the town, Sans and Papyrus fighting them back, killing many. This is the fight where Sans is almost killed by Undyne, who is then almost killed by Papyrus before he rushes to get Sans to the village.

Sans loses his eye, and Undyne exiles herself.

Frisk falls later on, almost get's killed by Flowey, but is saved and taken home by Toriel. This introduces the fact that Toriel's home is now full of monster survivors and that the rest of the Ruins has fallen.

Frisk takes time to heal, and meets Flynn.

In the Capital, within areas known as "Dark Zones" (pretty much ripping off Dying Light), new infected begin appearing simply known as "Them". This leads to the death of two monsters in a short story titled "Them". In True, these would be turned into the acolytes that appear at the end.

Sans and Papyrus receive a broadcast from MTT Resort begging for help, and decide to investigate. They then go to sleep on their way, and are split up, Sans being taken to the Capital while Papyrus is captured and brought to MTT Resort (don't ask, I don't remember why or how).

Sans wakes up in the Capital on a high up roof and encounters a character named Charlie, who brings him to his group in the city hall. He teaches Sans how to survive in the capital later on.

Papyrus wakes up in MTT Resort, hung in the lobby by a rope around his neck with infected all around. He is saved by a stranger on a walkie talkie who begins to tell him what happened. He then tells Papyrus about a mysterious monster who will kill him upon sight, and then tells Papyrus to flee. Papyrus does so and returns to Snowdin.

Stitch and Rycher are brought to the cavern where the new kingdom is by Artico, meeting all the other characters listed in the "A New Monarch" section.

On the surface, an outbreak occurs (somehow, I don't remember), and soldiers move in to the city near Mount Ebott, called Sanctuary City, to save a doctor. The doctor kills himself (ripping off State of Decay: Lifeline).

Scrapped plot lines include:

Disclaimer: The details are very fuzzy at best with this, unknown/forgotten at worst

Mettaton Madness: An event where a group of monsters from Waterfall would have to contend with an army of defective Mettaton drones in the CORE. I don't remember much else about this. Maybe Mettaton would be involved? I don't know.

A plotline on the surface where a city is burning down and being pelted by meteorites or missiles (I don't remember) and a group of survivors have to escape.

Papyrus would die at some point, due to being bit. Sans would put him down. This would happen after Frisk left the Ruins.

Snowdin would fall at some point.

Undyne would have her own story about finding herself or something, I don't know, but I know I wanted to do something with her at one point.

The New Monarch and the Royal Guard would get into some conflict, maybe.

More characters would die I think, and maybe Soriel would be canon? I genuinely don't know and I don't remember. Like I said, everything about this section is fuzzy, as I didn't take notes and I don't remember half of this story anymore.

That's pretty much it.

These two stories are very, very different. If you want to know just how the True version goes, please check out the link to it on AO3. It's long, and it's actually finished compared to Classic, which is not publicly available now, but I might change that in the future. Classic won't be expanded on, and I won't write anything for it ever again. I'm not sure if I'll abandon it entirely, as I could still draw the characters from it, but in all likely hood it'll be forgotten.

True is a much better and more well written story anyway. Classic was just edgy and ripped off so many other zombie stories, and even other Undertale AU's, since it was slightly inspired by Axetale (I saw one video of it, really glad I didn't take many elements from that dumpster fire of an AU) and other fanon edgy content.

Overall, I'm proud of what I've done with the True story and I'm ecstatic to have gotten it finished and released, having people actually read it is so much fun.

I just felt like going into how Undead Tale really started, and the origins it had as an edgy Undertale story I wrote in 2016 - 2017 that really doesn't hold up at all anymore.

What do people assume about them that isn’t true?well, a lot of people tend to assume that he has a very arrogant attitude due to his financial and social status, but he really doesn’t give that much of a fuck. he likes being able to afford nice shit, but he doesn’t think it makes him better than anyone. he’ll only suggest otherwise in a joking manner.

5. What kind of humor do they like? Are they funny, or do their jokes suck ass?he makes cheesy double entendres all the time. his humor also tends to be cynical and a bit dry. he’s pretty funny, which is one of the things that helps him be so sociable.

If they could change one thing they said in their past, what would it be?he wishes he’d been able to say a more proper goodbye to his mother. he was very tired the last evening he saw her. he just kinda mumbled “night” and hugged her and went to bed. and then he woke up, and she was dead. from my main muses, i’d say lennon or ella. from my secondary page, annie, abel, carly, cecily, rowan, presley, madison… mostly everyone from that page tbh.

ah fuck, i can’t believe you’ve done this… 

jolie or jackson, to be quite honest with you. they’re both very developed to me and i can usually always jump into their mindset. i’ve put so much work into their backstories and their emotions and how they react to things, and i really feel like i KNOW them or that they’re an extension of me. i feel like they’re both real to me and i love them with my whole heart. (and just in case — i didn’t forget my son: fox is a very, very close second.)

3. which muse is the trickiest to get into character for?

currently, tess is just because i’m not 100% sure which direction i want to take her in, but sometimes there are moments during writing that completely feel right for her. also, mikey and roman are occasionally hard bc theyre those muses that can act like trash and it’s harder for me to play mean characters.

4. is there a muse that not a lot of people roleplay with?

madison, carly, cecily, rowan, danny, lola, marley, quinn, ty. part of it is people don’t ask for them very often, but part of it is also that my muse can be iffy for these charas (particularly with carly, cecily, and ty) but i’m too sentimental to delete them. psa: if you rp with these characters, thank you from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

Liz you picked the two girlies that would be all over social media! So the short answer is yes both Carly and Sib would have social media accounts. We already know Carly in her original verse is an Instagram Queen™️ and she would be no different if it was a thing in FF.

Carly would probably have two different socials though. I would think a Twitter and an Insta. She's got so many followers but only follows like 5 people, three of which have never did more than put a profile pic up and their name, one is just memes, and the last her social media frienemy :) She's posting multiple times a day, she's got the good shots on insta, she's starting discourse on Twitter, she's defending her enemy and hating on her in the next tweet. Her insta photos and videos are about her day to day life and just showing off. Like you may have never followed her but you for sure have seen her posts in like screenshots on tumblr at some point or another. So you know of her but nothing more than that.

Sib on the other hand has almost all fun social media in some capacity. Her youtube channel has gone through phases and is abandoned for months or years until she posts a video about some far away land. Her insta is the same way but the time between is less, she never does stories though. Twitter is thoughts and some activism. She's on tumblr doing asks and reblogging the memes and art, it keeps her most in tune with how people are seeing her and the Scions. She loves seeing the art and stories people post. She's got this influencer kind of aesthetic but is chill like some of the active celebs on tumblr. Like she's promoting a restaurant with a nice aesthetic picture only for the little video of it to be with the chef and they're having a nice time. She also does not expect her food to be free (if she has a date they will pay but other than that she's paying and giving nice tips). She follows a few people but they are close people to her irl and hardly anyone from online spaces. Carly likes to believe they are in a rivalry but really its one sided and they do band together when its needed and warranted.

Lilac - Does your OC have a comfort item? If so, what is it?

Carly doesn’t have much in comfort items anymore. It used to be her journal and diaries before becoming the undead and working with Stasia. The closest you could say is her phone as social media has created a way for her to have the feeling of journal/diary without it being the physical thing that reminds her of times she was weakest.

For ffxiv it is her weapons and some people. She treasures and keeps close her first Dark Knight blade as it was the start of a new beginning for her. She also always has the first sword gifted to her by Zenos, which originally was one he just wanted to get rid of and she was there and he liked her enough to show it, but forever holds a special place in the first gift of their relationship. When he’s not around it reminds of who he saw her as (or what she believed too be true he wasn’t very keen on sharing feelings but you could tell just looking at how treated others vs her) and that’s who she sees herself as. The best version of herself is the version that he saw. Now I say people because she tends to see those deemed lower than her as like pets, they are her favorite people to mess with and tries to kill you but doesn’t because where’s the fun in that? Boy Toy (aka Thancred) is number 1 on this list, apologies to that man.

Dandelion - Does your OC get overwhelmed easily?

She doesn’t. Carly is a very punch your way out kind of person so things that overwhelm her don’t stay around for long. She might have a bit of a breakdown but that happens most typically after she gets angry about it.

Snowdrop - What is something your OC loves, and what is something they hate?

Carly loves Stasia, really truly in all forms (a trait that does also stay in the form of loyalty when undead and incapable of feeling emotions). She loves Instagram, truly stayed alive long enough for the best time period. She does love a bit of blood on her men, how it’s there doesn’t matter, but Zenos is very prone to such things and that’s hot and that’s all you need to know. She also loves playing with those that are her toys in a way.

Carly hates her mother. Hates her father. Hates the people that assume she slept her way to the top. Hates one Warrior of Light (apologies to my girl). And hates that she can no longer enjoy the good food in life.
