I know House of Mouse predicted Hades and Maleficent long before D3.
But guys, look at these couples!
Imagine how wild it would have been if Carlos and Ben were half siblings or Mal and Jay.

Under the sea; Rewrite - Poyw
=
-set in-between parts 6 and 7 of interlude; rewrite-
Mal stepped out of the car, taking a deep breath of the natural rot sent of the isle of the lost. She was here to do some feedback on what was happening on the isle of the lost, mostly having to do with the shelter that was being built, getting reports from Harriet's crew, and find the odd magic source that had been seen all the way from Auradon.
Mal locked the car and put the keys in her thigh bag, making her way towards the main plaza of the isle, where the shelter was being built. She pursed her lips as she remembered the conversation she, Ben, FG, and (y/n) had before she left for the isle.
“This is such an odd amount of magic coming from a singular area on the isle” FG had commented, watching the radar/map that continued to sense a source of magic on the isle, and Mal could pinpoint it within the dark woods; off the coast of the strait of Ursula. FG had suggested maybe Uma had something to do with it, but Ben, Mal, and (y/n) all denied it. Uma had been quiet since cotillion, and if Mal knew Uma, she wouldn’t do anything to risk more vks coming off the isle.
So something, or someone, was the reason for the unknown magic source. And no one had a clue who or what it was. So Mal volunteered herself to go look at it, offering to get some intel on the general isle itself at the same time.
So now Mal was on the isle, alone, doing recon and detective work. she had a small device In her bag which would connect her right back to Auradon, to Ben, if she needed help. But most of the isle kids were chill with her, knowing she was one of the few actively working to get them off the isle. So, unless she encountered a parent or a grudge-holding vk ‘which there was a lot’ Mal thought sadly, thanks to her bullying tendencies towards many a vk; she should have no problem traveling around.
Mal arrived at the work-in-progress shelter, smiling and nodding as she saw how it was coming along. She took a picture with her phone to show to Ben and Carlos later, and took another step back. The Auradon workers had already gone home for today, they arrived just after sunrise and always left before sunset, and it was a good 30 mins after the latter. “Mal?” Mal turned to the new voice, grinning as she realized who it was.
Diego De’vil, Carlos’ older cousin. “hey Diego” Mal greeted, turning back to the shelter, walking inside and inspecting it. It was almost done, all that was needed was flooring, proper plumping, and doors. “what's up?” Mal asked as Diego followed her inside, he shrugged and leaned against a support beam as Mal made sure the kitchen had everything in it, and if she needed to have Ben order anything else.
“what are you doing here?” Diego answered her question with a question, making Mal purse her lisp slightly but she didn’t deprive him of a proper answer “recon” Mal simply said “checking on progress and all that, getting reports from Harriet's crew…and I guess you're trustworthy enough” Mal muttered, walking close to Diego and leaning towards him, whispering. “there's a source of magic here, in the dark forest” Diego raised his brows in interest “I came to see…well its source” Mal waved her hand to dismiss her lack of words “but, important stuff first.”
Mal checked her digital checklist for the shelter and nodded, beginning to walk out “well, I’ll see you later Diego, stay safe” he echoed her words back, the two not noticing someone in the shadows, trailing after Mal the moment she had stepped onto the isle. As she made her way towards the wharf, she didn’t notice the shadow continue to follow her, a glint in their eyes. Mal paused as she passed by an open, well-lit alley, spotting the young daughter of Dr. Facilier, Celia, shuffling her cards and waiting at one of her fortune-telling stands. ‘that’s odd’ Mal thought, turning on her heel and walking towards her ‘isn't she supposed to stay near her dad's arcade?’ Mal had a fleeting thought of Celia expanding but the girl heard her approach and turned, a sly smile growing on her lips.
“Hey Mal~” Celia sang, waving her over, Mal obeyed, plopping down in front of Celia as she made a show of shuffling her cards. “here for a reading?” Mal just stared at her, then nodded. “sure” Mal said with a shrug “what’s the harm, but gimmie a real one. So cards face down” Celia pouted, so many people were getting wise to her game.
But Celia obeyed, shuffling the cards again, having Mal split the deck, and then laid them in a large fan face down. Mal picked three cards, her past, present, and then future. Celia picked up the car to Mal’s left, her past; she flipped it over and Mal winced. Death. “death, upright” Celia muttered, analyzing the card then glancing up at Mal, “you’ve wronged someone in your past” Celia started, her voice hazy. Mal listened intently “you cut them deep enough to ruin the potential relationship, and caused them to hold an intense grudge”
Mal sighed, that was practically everyone on the isle, the most prominent being Uma. Celia flipped the next card; the upright tower “and that someone is coming for you, soon” Celia continued, pursing her lisp slightly as she focused on what the cards were telling her, Mal leaning closer to get a good look at the artwork. “it spells disaster for your encounter, but it's not telling me which way.”
Celia flipped the last card, Mal’s future; the upright chariot. And Celia grinned “freedom, you’ll feel light as a bird and enact a sense of freedom among many people” Mal smiled, having a feeling this card was linking to VK day, the feeling of freedom within every single vk. “well, the cards never lie~” Celia sang, holding out her hand to Mal, who rolled her eyes fondly and took out her wallet, plopping a twenty in Celia’s palm.
“They certainly don’t, keep outta trouble kid, Dizzy’s dying to see you” Mal teased, patting Celia’s shoulder twice then exciting the ally, humming to herself as she resumed her walk towards the wharf. Celia wiggled in her chair as she examined her pay, shuffling her deck again as she got ready to close up for the night.
She felt a hand land on her shoulder and she looked up, eyes widening at who she saw.
-
Mal arrived at the scarlet revenge, waving to Xiaohui as she walked up the gangplank, the now captain nodding back, holding a folder in her hands that held quite a bit of paper “That it?” Mal asked, stepping onto the deck and pointing at the folder, Xiaohui nodded and handed it over. Mal flipped through the papers and nodded, from basic incidents to violent villain encounters, everything was written down and ready to be reviewed by Evie; who was the isle ambassador.
“Awesome, thank you. Oh, and Harriet wanted me to give you this” Mal said as she slid off her backpack, put the folder in, then took a letter from her backpack, and handed it to Xiaohui, who nodded and started to open it. “Someone will be back in two weeks for the next report, stay safe!” Mal turned with a wave and jogged off the deck, making her way towards the dark forest where the unknown magic source had been tracked too.
Mal took out the mechanical compass Carlos had made for this particular trip, a smaller copy of the very same ‘compass’ he had made all those months ago when she and her newfound friends were looking for the dragon's eye. Mal perked up, seeing a shadow whip by her, and she squinted into the darkness, turning on her heels slightly to try to get a better look at the shadows
“I thought I saw” Mal muttered to herself, then shook her head “no, couldn’t be” it couldn't’ve been, she had been hiding away for so long, it would’ve been weird for her to just; show up like this. Especially this far away from the cove. Mal entered the fog-covered dark forest, the compass in her hand starting to beep as she got closer to the source of magic.
“where are you?” Mal asked the magic, knowing it wouldn’t respond, she turned left, then right, moving to the right as the compass beeped rapidly to tell her she was going the right way. Mal~ Mal stopped, what was that voice? Mal~ it called her name again, and Mal swore she knew that voice, but it was one she hadn't heard in a very long time.
The voice continued to call her name, and Mal ignored the compass as it beeped rapidly as she got closer to the voice. As she got closer, she started to hear a heartbeat, or was it her heartbeat that she could feel in her ears? And her eyes widened as she pushed away a low-hanging vine to see a bright blue ball of energy “The magic” Mal whispered, turning off the compass and pocketing it as she walked closer.
Mal~ it continued to whisper her name, the orb bobbed and weaved above its pedestal, gently, as if it was alive. She stepped closer, holding her hand out towards the orb, and it pulsed with light; saying her name once more. And Mal finally recognized the voice, and she was very confused “Dad?” Mal whispered, suddenly looking around for the man that had been banished to the far side of the isle soon after her birth.
Her human father, her mother's one moment of weakness. Mal never got to know him, but he had been around just long enough for Mal to remember his voice. She turned again, looking at the orb as she tilted her head, it reminded her of the wisps. One of the folklore tales of Scotland, one Harry knew particularly well. Wisps could lead you to your fate, or change it.
Mal reached out again, weaving her fingers through the orb as if it was mist. She could hardly feel it, it felt like thin fog during a storm; it was warm though, like a campfire on a cold day. Mal felt a flow of energy run through her veins, and the fire under her skin felt 100x hotter. It suddenly disappeared and Mal jumped back, eyes wide in alarm as the energy disappeared within her. “Where did it-“ Mal whispered in a rush, taking out the compass again and turning it on, whipping around frantically to look for the source of magic.
Nothing, it was gone. Mal cursed, closing the compass and groaning at the sky. Dammit, it could’ve been important! Suddenly, the compass beeped, and Mal brought it up, eyes wide. It led her forward and Mal obeyed, stepping over branches and pushing through overgrown leaves, finding herself on the coast off the strait of Ursula.
The beeping slowed as Mal continued to point the compass forward, and Mal turned left, it slowed down, and then she turned right, and it sped up. And as soon as Mal was going to move, Celia came rushing up. “Mal!” Mal jumped, turning off the compass and pocketing it, holding her other hand to her chest “Celia! You scared me” Mal breathed, leaning over a bit as Celia gave a not-so apologetic shrug. “what are you doing out here?” Mal gestured to the coast “it’s dangerous at this time of night, you should be with your dad”
Mal went to offer to take her back to the arcade but Celia shrugged “well, you mentioned that magic source thing; so I wanted to check it out, figured you wouldn't mind” Mal nodded, then paused, tilting her head at Celia as she smirked at her “i-“ Mal started, stuttering a bit “I never told you about the source?”
“yeah you did” Celia insisted, flipping a tarot card in her fingers “the cards never lie, do they?” Mal rolled her eyes, crossing her arms as she leaned back on her left heel. “uh-huh, you spied on me and Diego, didn’t you?” Mal teased, Celia was good at keeping secrets, so Mal didn’t fully mind Celia knowing about the now missing source of magic. Celia shrugged with a singular nod, tilting her head as her eyes flashed a bit. Mal frowned slightly, Celia’s eyes didn’t flash, that wasn’t a thing Celia or her father could do.
Suddenly that thought disappeared from Mal’s mind, as if it never existed at all, and any doubts Mal had about Celia disappeared. She smiled “little sneak” Mal muttered, patting Celia’s arm twice “yeah it was just this, blue orb thing, and it was saying my name over and over” Celia looked very interested, going on her toes to look at where the orb once was.
“and-it had a voice that sounded exactly like” my dad, Mal almost said but Mal kept it in, her dad had always been a sensitive topic so she preferred not to mention him if possible “but” Mal laughed, crossing her arms “that would be impossible” she muttered, knowing the man was either dead or on the other side of the isle. She looked back at Celia, who pouted a little at the missing orb “then it disappeared, right after I touched it…and yeah…that’s really all it was” Mal said, walking forward a bit and trading places with Celia, who was messing with a small octopus ring on her index finger.
Mal frowned, taking Celia’s hand suddenly and examining it. “what's this?” Mal asked and Celia hummed, looking down at her hand, and Mal didn’t see her eyes widen with panic as she ripped her hand away, hiding it behind her back “just” Celia started, a nervous tone to her voice that was never there “just a little ring, for Uma ya’ know? She is my favorite” Mal frowned, wondering why it sounded like Celia was straining to say those words when they had come out as easily as melted toad fat before? Mal hummed, the haze building up in her head dissipating a bit. “I guess” Mal muttered, crossing her arms again “but…Uma's teal n purple, that’s like-sea green n purple,” Mal said, pointing in the general direction of the ring.
Celia huffed, rolling her eyes and stomping her foot “for once you’re observant” Celia snapped, and Mal glared, stepping back, that wasn’t Celia’s voice, not by a long shot. But Mal knew whose voice it was. “Uma,” Mal said slowly, she didn’t want to make Uma her enemy again but if Uma forced her hand? “how are you doing this?”
Celia suddenly grinned, one that only matched one person. Uma. A small solid glow appeared between Celia’s collarbones, and Mal recognized it as Uma’s infamous necklace. “just a little magic,” Celia said in Uma’s voice, there was something off about it though, but Mal couldn’t put her finger on it, something was blocking her from thinking clearly “magic ain't all that hard outside the barrier, as I’m sure you’ve learned” Celia purred, leaning towards Mal with her arms crossed.
“yeah,” Mal said, taking a step back from the possessed Celia. “why-why are you doing this? And why Celia, she’s a child. If we have a fight to fight, it’s between us, no one else.” Celia/Uma hummed, bored at Mal’s moral lecture “you’ve been pardoned for nearly seven months now, don’t you want to be in Auradon with Harry and Gil?” Mal asked, trying to deescalate the potential situation, but Celia/Uma only hummed with a smug grin. “what?”
“why would I need Auradon to be with them, when they’re right here~?” Celia taunted in Uma’s voice, and Mal took another step back as Harry and Gil emerged from the forest line, both with mechanical grins on their faces and their classic isle gear. But-how? They were just in Auradon, and she’s pretty sure Harry had a date with you tonight. “but-“ Mal was interrupted by Harry’s laughter, and she shivered at how un-stable it sounded. Like it used to be before Auradon. “of course, yeh really feel fer it” Harry said with a sharp grin, his eyes flashing red with malice “yeh really thought, we would choose boradon over Uma?” Gil laughed as Harry stepped forward, waving his hook threateningly towards Mal “yeh really thought, we’d actually choose good? oh Malsy~” Harry purred, tilting his head down slightly “yeh really are an idiot~”
Mal puffed up slightly, about to insult Harry right back when she saw his right wrist, and then Gil’s. Their golden seashell bracelets, they were gone. Mal looked for other key details about them and noticed Harry’s Celtic ring from you was gone, and Gil’s silver bow charm was missing from his leather wrist wrap. And both of their eyes were just a shade off. Mal grinned, the fog once again clearing from her mind. Celia/ Uma(?) frowned at her, why was Mal smiling?
“You’re not Uma” Mal stated, pointing towards the boys “you have them all wrong, and also” Mal pointed at Celia/Uma(?) “you don’t have Uma’s inflections or tone. You’re just off enough to make someone who knows Uma’s voice notice, but whatever spell you’ve been putting on me prevented that. So” Mal stepped forward, no longer afraid of the illusions beside Celia/Uma(?) “who are you.”
Celia’s/Uma’s(?) lip twitched and she blinked, her deep brown eyes turning green, and Mal knew that green. “so observant” Celia snapped in a new voice with a glare, and Mal glared right back. “Marceline” Mal greeted, crossing her arms as Harry and Gil disappeared with a wave of Celia/ Marceline’s hand. “you know; this is so low, even for you.”
Celia/Marceline hummed, tilting her head with a dangerous smile “oh? I can go lower?” she took Celia’s precious charm bracelet from her wrist and dropped it to the sand below, stomping on it. Mal twitched, mentally promising to get that repaired or replaced for Celia after this whole things was done. “just you wait” Celia/Marceline snapped, and Mal sighed, taking a step back from her.
“uh-huh. Can I ask what this is about? I mean, I know why Uma hates me, and I get it, but-“ Mal gestured to Celia/Marceline, who fumed at the notion that mal had forgotten what she had done to her “why?” Celia/ Marceline’s eyes flashed with anger, and Mal frowned, suddenly feeling out of control of her limbs as she froze. Magic? How was Marceline doing this? Had she figured out a way out? Or had somehow poked a hole through the barrier like Carlos had?
“why?” Celia/Marceline hissed out, tilting her head dangerously “why?! You’ve really forgotten everything you’ve done to me?” Celia/Marceline got in Mal’s face, her eyes glowing a soft sea green “you’ve tormented me since we were kids, pouring sea sludge on me, bleaching my clothes, called me horrible names, pushed me into the lake full of crocs, pushed everyone away from me, and cut. My. hair” Celia/Marceline seethed, and Mal felt a bucket of cold hard guilt wash over her, oh what had she done? How could’ve Mal forgotten all she did to Uma’s cousin?
“Marceline,” Mal said, her voice soft as she tried to reach out, but the girl reeled back, her face set in pain and anger. “I’m so-“ Celia/Marceline shook her head, refusing to hear any of Mal’s lies. “silence.” Celia/Marceline snapped, then a villainous smirk grew on her face as she began to walk forward, forcing mal towards the pier that hung over the isle waters. “I will have my revenge; I swear by it. You aren’t as strong as you think you are, and I will have the last laugh. And you will be at the bottom of the sea” Celia/Marceline taunted, and Mal furrowed her brows, glancing behind her at the ocean, blinking as she saw a shadow moving within the dark waters. She didn’t see Celia/ Marceline smirk as her spell took control of mal once more, making mal see things that weren’t there, and forcing Mal to make decisions she wouldn’t in her right mind.
“I’ll have everything, the isle, Auradon, Atlantica~! And you Mal?...im coming for you, and your precious little prince” Celia/ Marceline sneered, her eyes glowing fiercely as she forced Mal closer to the water. Mal hummed, sliding off her backpack and taking another step back, she was ready to make this battle a true one-on-one.
“Not if I come for you first,” Mal said, tauntingly, not realizing she was falling right into Marceline's trap as she turned and ran for the edge of the pier, jumping as she reached it. Celia dropped to the ground as soon as Mal hit the water, Marceline's laughter filling the air as she enacted her plan.
Mal was surprised to find the usually pitch-black isle waters clear as the coral reefs off Tritons bay, she could see shipwrecks, millions of fish, and the very bottom of the ocean she was swimming above. Mal took a sudden breath, panicking for a moment before she realized she was breathing, not drowning. Mal narrowed her eyes, starting to swim towards a sea-green glow from one of the nearby ships, Marceline wanted her down here, to even the odds.
Mal could feel magic all around her, somehow, so she used that to her advantage and pushed herself forward with a burst of energy at her feet. She hit the deck of the water-rotted ship and looked around for the daughter of Morgana. “Marceline!” Mal called out, her eyes igniting with emerald green, “you wanted a fight? You got one!”
Marceline’s laughter echoed around her “oh Mal, what’s fire, to water?” Mal was suddenly pushed off her feet by a strong current of water, sending her off her feet and towards the bottom of the ocean. Mal tried to fight back against the force but it continued on her, forcing her down. She caught herself on a broken mast, the force moving down her body till it disappeared at her feet, and Mal could see a small cloud of sand as it hit the bottom.
Mal looked up as she heard heeled boots walk towards her, seeing Marceline for the first time since before she left the isle originally. “wow” Mal whispered, Marceline was pretty; dark skin, plump pink lips, white and purple hair in shoulder-length locs, and deep sea-green eyes. Marceline smirked down at her, tilting her head slightly, her golden octopus earrings swinging. “ready to meet your fate?” Marceline sang, and Mal huffed, pushing off the mast and aiming towards another ship, landing on the deck with a roll.
Mal hummed, looking around slightly, she was moving about the water as if it was air. But that didn’t matter at the moment, Marceline had caught up to her “running are you? I thought we were fighting?” Marceline taunted Mal, who rolled her eyes and held her fists up in defense.
Mal hissed as Marceline swiped at her, a boil of bubbles following her hand and burning Mal’s arm. Marceline had the advantage down here, and unless Mal came up with a quick plan, she was doomed. “you ready shark bait?!” Marceline sang as she continued to swipe at Mal, who was being beaten back towards the other end of the deck, getting closer to the edge. “what?” Mal asked, confused by the sudden name. Marceline grinned, one that sent a shiver down Mal’s spine “oh Undertow~!” Mal gasped, turning to see a gigantic shark heading straight towards her, a hungry look in his eyes.
“shit!” Mal screamed, bursting up towards the masts and catching herself on one, staring down in fear at the tiger shark that started to circle below her. “okay, this is kinda unfair!”
“who said anything about fair?” Marceline asked, cackling as Mal was tugged by her two manta ray grunts, Cloak and Dagger then pulled Mal back down towards the deck. Mal hit it with a hard smack and she groaned, kicking at one ray's face as she sent a blast of energy at the other, tapping into the magic that surrounded her and Marceline.
The two manta rays reeled back in pain, and Mal quickly trapped them within an energy shield to even the odds just a bit “hey!” Marceline yelled, and Undertow sped towards Mal. Mal snarled and turned to smoke, her dragon form taking her place and easily over-taking the giant tiger shark. Undertow paused for a moment then clamped his jaws around Mal’s food, her screech echoing through the water.
The sudden intense pain forced Mal to return to her human form, her potential win as a dragon thwarted by Marceline and Undertow. Mal punched Undertow in the nose, forcing him to release her leg and Mal let out a howl of pain as she drew her leg close to her chest, quickly thinking of a healing spell as her leg bled out.
Marceline cackled again, her eyes glowing green as she used the water to grab Mal and drag her close, her other hand curling into Mal’s hair and pulling at it “let’s see how you feel when your hair gets ruined.” Marceline snapped, giddy at the feeling of her plan coming to fruition. Mal’s eyes glowed bright green, energy flowing through her that hadn’t before, it felt like the same energy that the blue orb had. Mal kicked Marceline back, a few of Mal’s hairs going with her. Marceline growled but gasped as Mal collected blueish-purple energy in her hands and sent it at Marceline, hitting the sea-witch directly in the chest and pushing her over the rails of the ship.
Undertow swam after her and Mal suddenly felt like lead, she closed her mouth as quickly as she could, panicking as she felt her chest tighten. She had won against Marceline but at the cost of whatever spell Marceline had put on her. Which meant no more breathing underwater. Mal kicked up desperately, trying to reach the surface but she was more than 50 feet underwater, and while Mal had learned to swim, she wasn’t a strong one.
She was going to drown, just like Marceline wanted. Mal mentally cried for help, reaching toward the dark surface. Her consciousness began to leave her, her kicks weakened, and Mal started to bob restlessly in the water. Above her, two shadows appeared on the edge of the pier, one shedding their jacket and diving into the water, a mechanical device strapped around their mouth.
By the time they reached Mal, she was unconscious. whoever it was wrapped their arms around Mal and kicked off a broken mast of a sunken pirate ship, quickly making their way back to the surface. Their eyes widened as undertow suddenly bolted towards them, jaws open in preparation to end mal and this new figure once and for all.
Suddenly, a teal/golden glow surrounded Undertow and was turned into a tiny version of himself, the exact form Triton had turned him to all those years ago. “no-what?!” the shark screamed in panic, swimming off towards the cove as he yelled about stupid sea witches.
The figure snorted mentally and continued pushing up towards the surface, breaking it with a gasp and pulling Mal towards the shore, the second figure running into the shallows to meet the other and Mal. “(y/n)!” the second figure called, the moonlight revealing it to be Evie, and the first; the one who had saved Mal, to be (y/n).
(y/n) reached the shallows and turned, holding Mal by her armpits as she dragged her towards the shore, Evie already at their side. “fuck-“ Evie cursed, whipping around her backpack and digging through it, hoping to find something to help save Mal. “come on Mal” (y/n) muttered, tossing the breathing apparatus away from her and starting compressions on Mal’s chest to force water from her lungs.
For a moment, it seemed hopeless, Mal had turned pale and her lips were blue, but neither girl gave up; doing their best to save Mal. Suddenly, Mal’s throat glowed, something only (y/n) saw; and her eyes snapped open, water erupting from her throat. “thank fuck” (y/n) gasped in relief, turning Mal on her stomach and harshly patting her back, forcing the rest of the water from Mal’s lungs.
“Mal” Evie gasped, gathering her friend in her arms, holding Mal close as Mal clung to her jacket, shivering from the traumatizing event “what happened?” “Marceline” Mal stuttered out, standing with the help of (y/n) and Evie, nodding back towards the ocean “she-she tricked me, tried to make me think she was Uma.”
(y/n) furrowed her brows and looked at Evie “who’s Marceline?” as Mal continued to try to catch her breath, Evie filled (y/n) in on who Marceline was, the daughter of the sea-witch Morgana; the sister of Ursula. (y/n) nodded, eyes widening as she looked back towards the pier. “Celia!” she gasped, running towards the slumped body of the young shadow witch. (y/n) dropped to her knees next to her and gathered the pre-teen in her arms, frowning as Celia didn’t stir. “Celia?”
She seemed to be under some sort of spell, and (y/n) guessed it was waiting until Marceline took possession again. (y/n) dug into her thigh-bag and took out a small vial of boiled enchanted lake water, she popped open the top with her teeth and poured it over Celia’s head, sighing in relief as Celia’s eyes snapped open; completely in control.
“(y/-(y/n)?” Celia asked; voice raspy from Marceline’s take over. (y/n) nodded, helping Celia sit up and handing her a granola bar to get her energy back. “hey kid, what happened?” Celia shook her head slightly, pressing her hand to her forehead, clenching her eyes shut as Mal and Evie walked towards them.
“Marceline, she came up to me after I gave Mal a card reading, and offered me fifty bucks to help her with something. Then-then she gave me this potion thing and then, I blacked out” Celia explained, standing with the help of (y/n) and heavily leaning against her, soaking up (y/n)’s warmth even if she was soaking wet. “and-now im here?”
Mal and (y/n) nodded, giving Celia sympathetic looks “Marceline took possession of you to get to me,” Mal explained, resting her hand on Celia’s shoulder “I don’t know how she did it but, that’s what happened” Celia slowly nodded, and (y/n) looked at Mal while Evie collected Mal’s backpack and (y/n)s discarded jacket. “did you find the magic source?” (y/n) asked Mal, who nodded and pointed back towards the forest.
“yeah, it was this-blue orb thing. But I don’t think it was the only source” Evie and (y/n) raised their brows at this “Marceline had to use her magic somehow, but-I don’t know-“ something in Mal’s thigh bag beeped and she quickly took the magic compass out, opening it and it directed her towards the main area of the isle. “well, I guess we're going to find out” (y/n) said, looking down at Celia “but first, we get you home”
Celia shook her head, stubborn “no way, I got possessed, I get to see what the hell is going on” (y/n), Mal, and Evie glanced at each other, then shrugged. Might as well “okay,” (y/n) started, kneeling down so Celia could climb on her back “But, I’m carrying you.” Celia grinned, hopping onto (y/n)’s back and wrapping her arms and legs around her, laughing as (y/n) bounced her as she stood. “all right, off to find the magic, the wonderful magic of oz” (y/n) sang as she followed Mal, who was following the compass towards the new source of magic. Mal snatched up Celia’s now broken bracelet, promising to repair it and return it by week's end. Celia giggled at (y/n)’s song and nodded to Mal, talking to (y/n) about her father and how the isle was as Mal led the way towards the mines, somehow avoiding the main entrance as Mal jumped down a small endpoint, catching Evie and Celia as (y/n) helped them down the seven-foot fall.
Mal raised her brow as the beeping got louder, (y/n) now helping light the way with her flashlight. And soon they turned a corner to find what looked to be a makeshift witch cove. Spellbooks, a large shell-shaped cauldron, candles, and potion ingredients all over the mineshaft floor. “looks like this was Marceline's base” Mal said, picking up one of the spell books with a conch shell on the front. “I mean, duh?” Celia said, examining the potion bottles, one looking exactly like the one Marceline gave her.
“Do you, feel that?” Evie asked, hugging herself slightly at the intense pressure she felt, looking up at the ceiling where it seemed to be coming from “it feels like-“ “-magic” Mal finished Evie's sentence, holding up the compass to the ceiling, where it stopped beeping and went into a constant high-pitched tone “yeah, magics seeping into the isle from right here, it’s how Marceline did it all. So the one I faced in the ocean was an illusion of some sort” Mal said, mostly talking to herself but Celia and the others were listening intently. Mal snapped her fingers and a small green flame appeared above her fingers and she nodded “we need to seal this off” Mal said, stepping back and turning off the compass, motioning for (y/n) to kill her flashlight. Doing so revealed streaks of golden white light, magic.
“aaand how are we going to do that?” Celia asked, crossing her arms and tilting her head. it was a good question, how was Mal going to seal off the seeping magic? Mal shrugged, cracking her knuckles and taking a deep breath. Mal could feel the cracks extend from wall to wall, in places she couldn’t even see right now. Meaning this had to be a spell that got each and every one of them.
But Celia had other ideas, she had noticed her shadow moving about on the wall behind her with no light to command it, and with it, a plan came to mind. “I think I have an idea” Celia said, stepping up with a confident smile. Mal easily stepped aside, letting Celia take command. The young shadow witch grinned, eager to prove herself. She summoned her shadow, and it peeled itself away from her back, moving to stand in front of her, the place where its eyes should be seeming to glow.
It tilted its head, as if asking what she wanted “seal the spaces in between; weave the fabric of the barrier’s spell back to its rightful strength; and where there is light, let darkness rule” the shadow nodded, and began to expand, slowly suspending the four girls in pitch black. And soon Celia’s shadow completely covered every crack within the mines that allowed magic through it. And the pressure of magic disappeared, Mal took out the compass and turned it on, nodding as it stayed silent.
“Awesome, good job Celia” Mal praised, smiling at the shadow witch, who grinned back. “and I think I found how Marceline found this place” (y/n) suddenly said, turning her flashlight back on and showing Mal and Evie a large metal box with a red light on the top, the very same machine that Carlos made that broke the barrier and led the core four to the dragon's eye oh so long ago.
“huh” Mal simply said, tilting her head at the machine, then pursed her lips “destroy it” Evie and (y/n) looked at her surprised “well we have this” Mal held up the smaller compass, then gestured to the larger compass “we don’t need it, and plus that’s what sorta led to all this so…” (y/n) titled her head back and forth then started taking the machine apart, taking out wires and destroying the fan that rested inside, then she dropped it to the floor and stomped on it, completely destroying the machine.
“good” Mal said as she nodded, taking Celia's hand as (y/n) started to lead the way back out the mines “now let’s get Celia back to her dad and then we can head home….wait how did you guys get here so fast?” Evie and (y/n) smirked at each other then (y/n) began to explain “that device we gave you? It’s two-way street, if it gets destroyed somehow; it'll send us an emergency signal and tell us your location. Then FG teleported Evie, and I came along for the ride, which I won't explain how right now, too complicated” Mal nodded slowly, happy the two had come to save her at just the right time.
The three girls dropped Celia off at Dr. Faciliers arcade, bidding the now shadowless girl goodbye for now, and headed off towards the car, (y/n) offering to drive due to Mal still being a bit out of it from the almost drowning event, and Evie didn’t want to. “Well” Evie chirped as (y/n) drove over the ocean back towards Auradon prep’s dorm building “that was eventful”
“you can say that again,” Mal said from the back seat, already starting to fall asleep with her head against the window “I’m gonna send a care package next barge” Evie looked back at Mal, her brows raised in question “for Marceline, she attacked me because I was a foul kid to her. I want to apologize properly. Think Nadia will help me find stuff for her? I mean I know nothing about black girl hair care n all that” Mal wondered to herself, making a mental note to ask Nadia, Tiana and Naveen's daughter, to help her with a care package for Marceline.
Evie and (y/n) smiled at each other, Mal had come a long way from her old isle ways. And they were proud of her for actively trying to be better than she used to be. As Mal fell asleep, a crackle of blue energy traveled between her fingertips, a long-dormant crystal that was buried beneath layers of the isle glowing at the same time, ignored by the god who was watching a boring newscast about the upcoming VK day.

It’s finally finished! I posted a WIP of the first picture awhile ago but I finally had some time to get everything done.
Carlos De Vil as I imagine him in the game Final Fantasy XIV! I decided to make him a Summoner, as they summon pets to fight by their sides I thought it was a good fit for Carlos. I could also see him as a scholar and might draw a variant of that later.
Me and my friends have thought of an entire AU storyline for the VKs and other Disney Descendants characters in FFXIV, but I won’t clutter this post with it. If you’d like to hear it message me! I plan to do a series with the main VKs and possibly Ben. They’ll be slow coming but I’ll try to get them out for you all to see!
I have a Carlos based character in game! If you’re on the Server Lamia, you can find me at Carlos De’vil.

True Colors
Looking at my old messages from FF.net, I found this old descendants story so I decided why not, I'll post it. Heavily inspired by @screaminginternallyalleternity's Jane characterization and JanexCarlosxJay ship. Mainly cuz I had been messaging her. Anywho, hope y'all enjoy.
"So what do you say?" Jordan asked taking a huff of silph.
"It's funny." Jane smiled dreamily, her mind already wandering off as the effects of the silph relaxed her. Though she was sharing her room right kow, she felt at peace and alone, and safe.
"No no" Jordan said waving her hand as if to clear the fumes "I'm serious, we should go to the homecoming dance as ourselves. Our natural forms."
Jane was tempted to roll her eyes at Jordan's ridiculous idea. Go to the dance in their real forms. Ones that were technically "banned" because of how obvious they were magical. Ones that she hid all these years.
She wanted to roll her eyes but Jordan was being oddly insistant about it.
"Why?" Jane asked, evading having to answer or even think about her playing a role in this scheme. She couldn't. She never showed her form to anyone. Her blue freckles were disguised with concealer, her wings and tattos carefully hidden through clothes in which she had never taken them off ever.
"Just for fun. To show those stupid mortals what they are missing? How dare they make us hide what we really are and suppress ourselves." Jordan snorted, clearly gearing up for her usual rant against mortals and the magic ban. "So worried about what we could do to them. How we are technically better than them, hotter than them"
"That's just the silph talking" Jane said softly but already she could feel her panic coming. Barely but it was there. The silph was suppressing it making a odd conflicted emotion.
She felt like she was about to drown, her head trying to reach the surface for a breath of frenetic air and energy but also underwater where it was calm and still.
"No, I thought of doing it before...Non-silph talking. Zoning out during class and stuff."
"Really?" Jane said, trying to keep the conversation heading back to her.
"Yeah. Like one time when I was 13, I had really considered it. Sorta stupid and immature. I wanted to show up Audrey. You know, because of how she is always bragging how she is the prettiest and the fairest. Also I used to have a crush on Ben."
"You had a crush on Ben" Jane murmured.
She never would have guessed, Jordan didn't seem the type. She always figured she would be with a more confident, brash person. And a Fae at that too considering how she always complained of mortals.
"Ben's...Ben. He's so generous and caring. Unselfishness, such a turn on." Jordan sighed wistfully.
"If it's just for the dates, you shouldn't do it." Jane advised.
"But it's not just the guys. It's showing off to the girls too. It's an ego boost. Aren't you tired of being ignored, and considered to be plain when you just KNOW that you could top those mortal girls any day of the week." Jordan protested.
Jane blanched. No! That sounded horrible. It was enough people thought of her as a freak and avoided her now. Not that she wanted to hang out with others and their shallowness. She didn't want people to look at her like she was some sort of object. Her form wasn't even that pretty. "But but it looks weird, it's not pretty." She said.
"Please." Jordan scoffed. But seeing Jane's uncertainty she changed to a softer tone.
"Even if you don't think so. The mortals will. I mean I have bright pink skin for goodness sake" she pulled at her pink streaks "That doesn't look good but the people think it's hot as hell. It's because we are Fae. It's a novelty, we are exotic and exotic is erotic. It reminds them of who we actually are. Magical, mysterious, thus incredibly unattainable and sexy." Jane looked down nervously, taking long calming breaths. "I'm not doing it."
To Jane, this step of showing off was too overwhelming and intimate. Her wings, her tattoos were personal. Whenever she did unfurl her wings alone she felt exposed but free because she was alone. To do that with people staring at her would be unthinkable and clustraphobic. These over-entitled royals would see her as exotic alright. A exotic toy or object to be touched and viewed over. Just more bullying over why Jane wouldn't serve them or help them.
Jordan frowned, "I was hoping but I figured you wouldn't. Oh well better yet to make a solo entrence. With your lithe curves you might have taken even more attention than me. After all people wouldn't expect you to do it." Jane sighed. No they wouldn't and she was perfectly fine with playing up to THAT expectation.
Two weeks later was the homecoming dance and Jane waited nervously outside the courtyard doors for her dates, Jay and Carlos. It was the second dance they were coming all together and she felt as fluttery as she did the first time.
They made her feel normal in a way. They all had issues but they understood each other. She felt safe, and even if people stared at the threesome she didn't care. The people that mattered to her were with her. As she waited patiently for the two to show up, she looked around at the expanse of darkness.
How things had changed. She wouldn't have gone to one of these events last year. Too boring. But now with the incursion of VKs there were quiet a few changes even some repeals of the magic ban even though she had disapproved Mal's actions in ignoring the ban and giving magic and an even worse rep.
From the corner of her eye, she saw one of the ornately shaped hedges rustling and went over to it.
She saw Jordan applying the finishing touches of black lipstick as she stared into a compact mirror.
"Hey,” Jane waved.
"Oh hi,” Jordan said distractedly.
"Are you still doing your big entrance?" Jane asked shyly. Even though Jordan seemed fine showing off her form, it still felt like an intimate act to Jane so she felt that it and to be whispered with the respected amount of privacy.
"Yeah," Jordan clipped her compact shut, and transformed.
Jane tried not to be so obvious in her astonishment but her mouth dropped open anyway. She could see what Jordan meant by the pink skin looking odd but at the same time, it was incredibly alluring.
Her hair had lost its' pink streaks and was out of the usual ponytail in long pure black waves. The hair itself looked like it was constantly moving in slow-motion as if she was underwater. Her eye were still light blue but now circled with azure. Same blue eyeshadow with three distinctive spots over her left eye. Her black lips provided a contrast to the skin.
The rest of her body had changed as well. A more pronounced curvy figure to say the least. The light green sleeveless tube top was cut off at the midriff and Jane secretly wondered how the hell it was holding up Jordan's pronounced bust considering that it looked like it was one jump away from popping out completely.
Magic she supposed.
Meanwhile her matching skirt laid loosely over her now obvious hips, and where her legs were, now was a smokey wave as if she had just emerged from a lamp. Jordan had also highlighted her look with shiny jewels that Agrabah was famous for. A diamond/emerald necklace. An amber jewel coming from her belly ring. Tiny ruby, amethyst and Amber jewels decorating the dress itself in patterns. Plus the golden cuff links genies were known by.
It was an awe-ing sight altogether and she couldn't or wanted to look away from how Jordan moved and glistened.
"So that dress..interesting," Jane said.
Jordan tugged on her pointed ear with it's single gold hoop, "I'm the embodiment of wish fulfillment. You learn to deal with the no clothes thing."
Jane merely nodded than comment, "It's cool that you're doing this. I just wouldn't...it's scary."
"I know, I'm scared too." Jordan said which took Jane aback. She had showed no fear throughout this whole thing.
"You think I don't know what might happen. Being objectified, moreso than usual. More demands for wishes. The usual entitled mortal comments. People that forgot how magical I am will remember, and want favors. Trust me. I'm sticking by Aziz or Ben the entire night. No casual one night stands today." "You don't have to do it." Jane assured her.
"I'm going to." Jordan said firmly "Even though I hate how people see me. I hate hiding who I am even more. Hiding magic is painful, and using silph is okay but still that is a small consolation. There has to be more."
Jane thought of Starlight Valley with her father. How wonderful it was. "Good luck then" Jane murmered as Jordan started toward the door. Then paused to pull up Jordan's tube top up a little more so the bust was safely cradled in them. Even though it still looked a bit unlikely to stay that way.
"Thanks. Have fun tonight." Jordan said and went inside.
Jane resumed her position outside but couldn't ignore the pounding wave of thoughts she felt from inside. As well as the actual noise of whistles and catcalls.
Jane sighed and summoned some courage and wiped off the concealer from her cheeks as Carlos and Jay ambled toward her. The move revealed her light blue freckles that danced across here face.
"Hi Jane" Carlos smiled with a hint of nervous excitement. His bright white teeth made an unconscious smile dance across her lips. "Pretty" Jay, ever the blunt one, poked at her cheek, to which Jane playfully swatted his hand away.
"Have you always had them?" Carlos asked as he took her hand. "Yeah" Jane bit her lip, smiling.
"They're pretty" Carlos complimented "They match your eyes."
Jane nodded her head bs shrilly and grabbed Jay's hand to head inside.

Interlude - Rewrite - POYW- Harry Hook x reader - Part 1 - New beginnings
=
*felt like doing an episode entrance to this so deal with it*
-a shot of the isle pans across the screen with Descendants™ background music playing, before turning and panning across the ocean towards Auradon. It cuts to the dorms and fades into Evie and Mal's room, where Evie is shifting through a tall stack of papers.-
Evie turned her face towards her door as it suddenly opened and Mal stepped in “hey E, still at it?” Mal dropped her (Ben’s) letterman jacket on her bed and sat across from Evie, leaning over in the chair to take a look at the papers Evie was working on.
“yep” Evie let out a small sigh, giving Mal a small smile before looking back at the papers “I still can't believe Ben had to go through all of this just to get us six over, half of it is guardian responsibility shit”
Mal quirked her brow at that and reached out towards Evie, doing the ‘gimme’ motion. Evie handed her six sheets of paper, the front one reading;
'Application of guardianship
Child; Jay - parent; Jafar
Guardian applicant - Aladdin’
the rest of the paper was just info and numbers, all of which Mal didn’t bother to read. she set the paper down and continued to read.
'Application of guardianship
Child; Gil - parent; Gaston
Guardian applicant - Eugene Fitzherbert’
Evie took Jay's paper and set it down beside her, taking Gil’s as Mal set it down a moment later.
'Application of guardianship
Child; Evie - parent; Evil Queen aka. Queen Grimhilde
Guardian applicant - Ella Charming’
“who’s Ella?” Mal asked aloud, setting the paper on top of Evie's new pile and looking back at the last three.
“Cinderella” Evie answered lightly, grabbing her pen and crossing out a couple of lines on her paper “that’s why she was on our side during family day, I guess she already knew who we were”
“and here I thought it was because she knew what we went through” Mal snorted, drawing her thumb against her name on the paper.
'Application of guardianship
Child; Mal - parent; Maleficent
Guardian applicant - Megara’
Mal quirked her brow again, turning the papers towards Evie and pointing at the guardian’s name “who’s Megara?”
Evie took a quick glance and shrugged “no clue” Mal shrugged back and set the paper on the pile.
'Application of guardianship
Child; Carlos De’vil - parent; Cruella De’vil
Guardian applicant - Anita Radcliffe’
Mal let out a small hum at that, so the person who Carlos’ mother had hurt, had decided to be the guardian of Carlos?...cool, she knew that there were heroes that didn’t judge them for their parent's decisions but it was nice to know that some of those who had been directly affected held no bad blood against them.
'Application of guardianship
Child; Harry Hook - parent; James Hook
Guardian applicant - Wendy Darling’
“huh” Mal snorted, setting the last paper on the pile, which Evie grabbed and straightened it and set it on her other side with the other read-through papers “Wendy Darling is Harry's guardian” Evie smiled at that.
“aw, cute…” then she snorted “I’m sorry the image of Harry wearing a baby blue sleep dress with a big pink bow on his head just came to mind” Mal covered her mouth and her forehead hit the desk as her body shook with laughter “I’m sorry” Evie giggled, leaning back in her chair and covering her eyes. “ahhh It won't leave~!”
“noooo Evie that’s going to be stuck in my head for like a month how dare you!” Mal screeched, lifting her head and reaching out to gently smack at Evie “I need bleach E, bleach!”
Evie pushed her hands away and shook her head “I’d rather you not go blind M” Mal just pouted and sunk back in her chair “also, I do need to get back to work so?” Mal sat up and gestured to the papers, picking up the pile Evie had set aside and starting to read, wanting to be involved in the program.
The room was silent other than the occasional shift of papers and scratch of a pen. Then mal popped her head back up to look at Evie, who glanced up at Mal and quirked her brow.
“oh, I heard you got appointed captain of the science league!” Mal grinned as Evie's entire face brightened, her eyes sparkling.
“yeah! I don’t even know how it happened, but Doug told me about this little contest with chemistry and I joined and I guess the winner got to be captain? But yes! And there's a championship after school starts up again!” Mal hummed with interest, leaning on her hand and listening intently as Evie went into her usual rambles.
“so it basically like that math league thing Carlos did for like two months, they ask us questions and stuff like that, and there's a physical part to it as well, the captain and three others on the team compete with the other team with an unknown challenge to create a certain chemical or other, last year they were challenged to make a chemical reaction, and our team won with making foam volcanos with beakers, all different colors, they had to make the chemicals used and everything from scratch with the bases they were given”
“that’s dope” Mal responded simply, not knowing what to say but wanting to keep Evie engaged.
“I know right!” Evie giggled, clapping her hands together slightly “we actually did the same experiment a bit before summer break started, we also launched soda bottles into the sky!”
Mal grinned at that “and yes I will show you how to do it, though I’m keeping the mentos away from you” Mal shook her head slightly, setting down the papers in her left hand and stretching.
“gah~” she glanced out the window, groaning at how dark it was already getting “wow how long have we been at this?” Evie pushed in her rambling and looked outside, gasping as she saw what Mal was talking about. It wasn’t pitch black, but the sun was beginning to set.
“holy shit how long have we been at this?” she pulled out her phone and bit her lip “it’s already dinner time!” Mal shoot up at that and grabbed her (Ben’s) jacket and slid it on, walking over to the door while looking back at Evie.
“come on! (y/n) said it was spaghetti night with garlic-ow!” the door opened in Mal's face, smacking her in the nose and making her stumble back.
“Mal!” Doug winched, swiftly closing the door and reaching out to the whining half-fae “shoot I’m sorry! I didn’t know you were behind the door!”
“knock next time” Mal muttered from behind her hands, her eyes screwed as pain thumped from her nose.
“I will I will- I’m so sorry” Doug stressed, pulling back slightly as Mal waved him off.
“forgiven, it was an accident.” Mal pulled her hand off her nose and wiggled it, looking towards Evie and Doug with raised brows “well?”
“no blood” Evie chirped, quickly organizing the papers and grabbing her bag, slinging it over her shoulder and grabbing onto Mal's hand to pull her out of the room “come on, I’m starving~”
“that’s what I came to get you for” Doug spoke up, stepping up next to Evie as the three of them made their way to the cafeteria “I noticed the two of you weren’t there yet and I didn’t want you to miss dinner”
“thank you, Doug,” Evie cooed, Mal leaned forward a bit to smile at Doug
“what she said” Doug smiled back and nodded.
“no problem” it was a quick walk to the cafeteria, and when they entered Mal immediately separated from Evie and got in line, bouncing on her heels as the smell of garlic bread hit her.
Evie walked over to the table that was occupied by the vks and set her bag in-between Jay and Gil. “hi~” she sang, before spinning around and joining Mal in the line.
You looked up from your food for a moment, eyeing Evie's bag for a moment for no other reason than knowing she always had peppermint puffs in them before going back to eating.
The table was mostly silent other than Gil and Jay talking about their next season of tourney, Carlos typing away on his laptop, and Harry's foot tapping on the floor.
A few moments later Mal and Evie joined the five of you at the table, Evie taking her bag off the seat and taking its place, while Mal plopped next to Carlos and immediately starting slurping up her spaghetti “those etiquette lessons really didn't do much huh Mal~” Evie teased, laughing as Mal glared at her and knocked her wrists together twice.
“I should have never introduced you to friends” you laughed, setting down your fork and grabbing your drink, deciding to change the subject as Evie and Mal started to throw fake ‘fuck you’ signs “before you and Evie start fake flipping each other off, how was your first day of therapy Mal?”
Mal paused for a moment, pursing her lips “it was….therapy? I don’t know how to answer that?”
You shrugged in response “well, did it feel awkward? Did the therapist push you too much? Or was it just kinda…okay?” Mal looked at you for a moment before looking at her hands in thought.
“it…the most we did today was just getting to know each other, something about me being comfortable was the entire point of the therapy thing, and that I should only tell her things if I feel like it, that I should never feel forced to tell her things” you smiled at that, reaching over to squeeze her shoulder gently.
“then it was a great first session, now just remember it's twice a week, okay?” Mal snorted, gently slapping off your hand.
“yeah yeah, ever since cotillion E’s been helping me make a schedule so my brain doesn’t break again from trying to remember every single thing” Evie nodded in confirmation and tossed a meatball in her mouth.
“Nice, speaking of Evie, how's the going through the shit ton of papers?” you asked with a teasing smile, laughing as Evie kicked at your leg with a pout.
“Exhausting” Evie sighed, slumping into her hand and pushing around her food slightly “I've only gotten through half of it and that was all guardian stuff!” the rest of the vks raised their brows at that.
“Guardian?” Carlos asked, closing his laptop slightly “what do you mean guardian”
You took the chance to explain since Evie might’ve not known the exact reason why the vks had guardians “It was one of the demands of the council; because you guys are underage, you needed a legal adult to claim you just in case something happened, and since your parents are on the isle and can't come off, Ben asked some adults in Auradon to be your guardians. essentially if any of you land in the hospital and need to be signed out by a legal guardian, they’ll come to do that”
The vks nodded slowly, then turned to Evie “Sooo who are they?” Gil asked, biting down on a garlic cheese biscuit.
Evie shrugged slightly “Um, well mine’s Cinderella” the others gave her a look “I know, I don’t think Chad knows, um, Mal’s is a woman named Megara” Mal butt in for a moment.
“Have no clue who that is by the way” you laughed at that, Mal turning to you with curious eyes.
“I know, Megara is Hercules wife, like, daughter-in-law of Zeus and all that” Mals jaw dropped a bit as she nodded.
“Oh…alrighty then…oh wait! The one that had a deal with Hades n stuff?!” you nodded at that.
“The same” Gil perked up and asked you who was his guardian “um, Eugene Fitzherbert, Harry’s is Wendy Darling” Harry did a small spit take at that “Yeah that’s why she was nice on family day love” you chuckled, patting his pat as he coughed out his apple juice. “um, Carlos your guardian is Anita Radcliffe, and yes the one that your mom stole the puppies from” Carlos looked at you with utterly confused eyes “I know sounds weird, anyway, Jay's guardian is Aladdin” Jay's food dropped back on his plate as he stared at you “Yeah something about ‘knowing what you had gone through’ and all that…I just realized we're going to have to go through all of that guardian shit again” you groaned slightly, rubbing your face in frustration, you had spent several late nights with Ben just going through the, though scarce, application paperwork for the vks.
The council had made it hell to get the first six vks over to Auradon, Ben only being able to pull through it thanks to it being his first proclamation. But now since it was turning into more of a program than a proclamation, the council would probably make it hard again.
“Why?” Gil asked, frowning as you let out a frustrated puff of air.
“Well as I said, for you six to come, you had to have guardians, and we were damn lucky to find six adults who didn’t hold a grudge against yall for your parents, and…wait how old is Harriet?” you suddenly sat up straight as the realization came to you.
“um,” Harry tapped the table as he mentally counted “she a little younger than the isle…she was born in September so…18 righ’ now” you grinned “wha’?”
“She's a legal adult” it took a moment for the rest of the table to realize what you were talking about but it hit them a moment later.
“Harriet can be a guardian!” Evie sang happily, clapping her hands together in excitement “Oh, wait!” she stopped, pursing her lips slightly “Um, I hadn’t gotten to that part of the papers yet, how many kids to a guardian?”
“Two at most, if they aren’t biologically related to you, Harriet is automatically CJ and Harry's guardian when she comes, so then technically Harry you’ll have two, so possibly we can have Harriet sign up to be the twin's guardian…how old is Sammy?” Harry furrowed his brows in thought then snapped his fingers.
“In two months, he’s turning 18” you hummed as you tapped your finger against your chin.
“I don’t want to wait that long unless we have to, I guess for Sammy and Dizzy we’ll just have to find some more people willing to be guardians or see if any of yours are willing to be responsible for another kid.”
A flash of pink caught your eye as the table delved into “New vks” talk and you looked up to see Audrey walking into the food line, her posture stiff. You shared a look with Ben, who was at a table with his friends, and stood, dragging your hand across Harry's back as you did, and walked over to the girl.
“Audrey?” she jumped slightly, her honey-brown eyes widening as she realized it was you “Hi, when did you get back from the cottage?” she shrugged slightly, stepping forward in line as it moved.
“A couple hours ago, I stayed a bit longer after Chad helped fix my tire at the request of my godmothers” she gave you a small, though strained, smile “um, how you been?” you shrugged, nodding back towards the vks.
“Eh, we’ve been going over the thousands of papers to start on the next round of vks, I’m tired as fuck but ill deal with it” Audrey let out a soft laugh and the two of you walked a bit as the food line moved again.
“Grammie talked about that…” you could sense the frustration behind her words, meaning her grandmother had gone off about your attempts about more vks the entire time and Audrey didn’t want to talk about it anymore.
“Sorry about that, um, did you hear Ben and Mal broke up?” Audrey just shrugged.
“yeah, my Grammy went insane over it, something about me having a clear chance with Ben again but I did my best to ignore her ya know?” you grinned at that, it seemed you had broken through some of her grandmothers hold on her, and were slowly removing the idea that she was responsible in being the sole provider of status In her family “cause I remembered what you said when Ben originally broke up with me, and I was kinda mentally like ‘well it’s not my job and I don’t care?’ and I realized as I was there….I don’t…think about Ben that way anymore” Audrey gave you a small smile, glancing back towards Ben as she did “instead of those butterflies I always got when I think of him... it's just….normal, like when I was a kid and dating wasn’t even a thing in my head…its…nice” her smile grew a bit “oh um,” she pointed at the line, which the two of you were almost at the trays
You smiled and patted her shoulder “no problem, I’m glad you doing good Audrey, it would have been nice to see you at cotillion, but I understand if that would have been hard” she nodded and grabbed a tray, waving you off as you walked back to the vks table and sat back down next to Harry.
“When did Audrey get back?” Mal asked, finishing off her garlic bread and glancing between you and Audrey.
“a couple hours ago” you responded simply, stabbing your last two meatballs and stuffing them in your mouth.
“oh” Mal looked between you and Audrey before going back to her food “okay, I just haven’t seen her all day then”
“for a second there I thought you were going to go fight or something” you joked, smiling a bit as Mal shook her head adamantly.
“heck no, why would I go out of my way to antagonize her?...well I mean I probably would have a couple months ago but…that would be just weird and…how would you say it? Out of character?” Carlos snorted at that “what?”
“Nothing I was just remembering how you went blonde and pastel for several months and that wasn’t ‘out of character’ for you?” Carlos used hand quotes as he spoke, laughing as Mal reached over the table to smack at him.
“Ney! I was having an identity crisis! I’m allowed to do out-of-character shit like that!”
“Switching the topic again” Jay interrupted, laughing slightly as Mal and Carlos continued to smack at each other “how's the search for Uma going?” Harry and Gil perked up at that. Mal stopped smacking Carlos and let out a low groan. “No luck?”
“not a tentacle in sight” she leaned on her palm “Then again I haven’t really been on the search party as of late, something about my school and everything else being more important”
“Do you think we’ll find her?” Evie asked, furrowing her brows as Mal shrugged “Well we have to soon, won't we? I mean she's a danger to Auradon” Evie squeaked a bit as she caught Harry and Gil's glare, your hand gently pushing on Harry's arm to prevent any…messes “Why are you two looking at me like that?”
“You called their friend a dangerous person, I think they are allowed to be a little pissed” you hummed, turning to Harry and giving him a look. He huffed and pouted down at the last of his dinner.
“But she spelled Ben? And she tried to get FGs wand to take control of Auradon!” Evie pushed, flinching back a bit as you looked at her with unamused eyes.
“Hypocrite much?” Carlos laughed a bit through his nose at your snark, looking down at his laptop as Evie, Mal, and Jay looked at you slightly confused “Oh come on you three, you can't have forgotten what you did only 7 months ago? You also spelled Ben, you also tried to get the want to control Auradon. You’re the kettle calling the pot black, Uma may have gone around the entire thing differently but all in all, she had the exact same plan as you six did.”
Mal, Evie, and Jay looked at each other uncomfortably before they looked at Carlos, who just rose his brow as if he was saying ‘you really gonna act like you’re better than her? Really? “She's right you know” Carlos hummed, looking back at his summer project “Uma is hardly different to us when we first came here, if the roles were reversed, I’m sure she would say the same about us”
Mal pouted for a moment before she closed her eyes and took a deep breath “I…suppose so” she grumbled, crossing her arms, Carlos just looked at her.
“Mal, you two have been at each other's throats since you were 10, most of it was you going after her, and her retaliating. I think it's time you let it go” Mal opened her mouth to argue but Harry glared at her, making her snap her mouth shut.
“I know yeh are tryin ta be better yeh imp, but tryin’ ta demonize Uma fer something yeh started is not helping yeh in meh books” Harry snarled, he and Mal having a glare off as tension raised at the table.
“Okay okay, that’s enough” you gently pushed Harrys face away from Mal and snapped your fingers in front of her face, making her blink wildly in surprise “I don’t want a bloodbath in the cafeteria please, anyway, Mal if I remember correctly, you did start the whole rivalry debacle, and I know why you did the whole stupid ‘shrimpy’ thing. It was just because your mother was an idiot and you need to leave that shit behind, if you continue to see Uma as a villain, that’s all she’ll ever be, it’s the same with you six, if the people of Auradon saw you as villains that’s what you would have become, and don’t try to tell me otherwise because I know exactly what went down on family day.”
The vks cringed at the mention of the horrid day. “I know, but you six were having doubts about your plans and then family day came along, so in turn, you decided to go through with everything. It’s the same with Uma, if you push her towards the label of Villain, she’ll accept it and rain hell on you and Auradon. So, you need to let your dumb rival shit go and see Uma as she really is, a troubled teen who has only had her mother's guidance on life and has been taught evil her entire life. Guess who that sounds like?” Mal sighed, crossing her arms and pouting at the table “hmm?”
“me” Mal finally admitted, closing her eyes “it sounds exactly like me”
“and me” Evie muttered, scratching her cheek as her eyes watered slightly at the memories of her mother surfaced.
“I’m sorry if that brought up bad memories but you three, mostly Mal and Evie, Jay you’ve been quiet but I could tell you were agreeing with everything” Jay winced at that “were acting like you are better than Uma when you’re not, she's just in the spot you all were in before and just after you came to Auradon.”
The vks were silent for a moment, the only sound being the usual noise of the cafeteria and Carlos typing away on his laptop. “and any new groups of VK’s we bring over may have the same mindset you six had when you originally came, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get a chance, showing them kindness and that the path that their parents showed them is not the only way to live is our best bet to safely getting more kids off while not accidentally destroying Auradon in the process, but as far as I know, Uma is a big symbol to the kids, just as you six were, if you accept her, the other kids will be more willing to come, and less willing to follow their parent's orders. But first, you need to get over your shit with her”
Harry and Gil smiled at you, as the other four stared at you for a moment before Mal sighed and nodded “she’s right…as much as I don’t want to hear it, you’re right…fine, I’ll see if or when we find Uma, she is not booted back to the isle…I’m pretty sure Ben wasn't planning on doing that in the first place, he’s pretty adamant in giving her a chance”
Suddenly Ben's smiling face appeared behind Evie, looking at the seven at you “I heard my name?”
“We were talking about Uma and the vks” you said quickly, saving the others from attempting to cover up the conversation, even though they didn’t have to (it was a habit they had a hard time getting rid of)
“ah,” Ben hummed, glancing at his watch “yeah, that’s a…whole thing right there that we don’t have time to get into right now but!” he clapped his hands and looked from you to Evie “after you two are finished, if you could come to my office with the list? I want to get started on the new group as soon as possible and I need names and parents.”
You both nodded and watched as Ben smiled back and walked out of the cafeteria and back to his office to do his kingly duties. “I just realized the council might also prove some trouble in getting more kids off” you sighed, leaning into your hand again. The vks gave you a confused look “well you all know they have been why it’s been several months since you guys came and there have been no more vks. then Harry and I kept trying to get meetings with Ben to talk about the vks, but almost every time he either had a council meeting or”
you gestured to Mal, who winced “had a date with Mal, which I’m still pissed at him for doing that, but anyway” you waved off the mention of Bens agitating routine “even though it was stupid, they kept giving the argument that you six were a rarity in the whole of vks, and that we would risk the destruction of Auradon every time we took a group of vks off, and they kept voting to postpone the continuation of Bens vk transfer program. And they might keep doing with and succeed; and I hate saying this, thanks to Uma’s rampage at Cotillion.”
Evie grit her teeth slightly in anger, there were so many innocent kids on the isle that never deserved to be there and deserved a chance at a real-life, it wasn’t fair that the old geezers of the council would doom so many of them just because of one “bad” egg
You finished off your drink and slammed the cup onto your tray, standing with it and nodding towards the door “well I’m done, and I want to get this started and finished quickly” you leaned down and kissed Harry’s cheek as Evie nodded, quickly eating the last of her garlic bread and handing you her tray as you reached for it and went to go stash them away.
“bye, guys!” Evie called, the two of you running out of the cafeteria and towards her room to grab all the needed paperwork and the list.
-
“and if possible, I want to start on getting fresh food and other basic necessities shipped to the island” you finished, Ben immediately nodded at your request, writing it off on his notepad and underlining it.
“Sometimes I still can't believe my father let rotten food and garbage be their source of well…everything” Ben sighed, leaning back in his chair and holding his head.
“yeah…” you took a moment for Ben to process what was going through his mind before continuing “Because If we’re not able to get any kids off sooner than later, I want them to have a bit better of a living situation during the waiting period” Ben nodded again, sitting straight again and grabbing some of the papers Evie had revised and gone over.
“We might have to sneak around the council for some of this stuff, we all know that most of them hold a grudge against the vks for some reason, one of them being Audrey’s grandmother, and we all know what she's like” you and Evie shared a grimace.
“yeah…wait hold the phone” you waved your hands around, stopping the two from their work “Ben the council couldn’t vote on stopping the original transfer program, right? Since it was your first proclamation?” Ben nodded, leaning back a bit as a sharp grin bloomed on your face and you slammed your hands on the desk “This technically still counts as your first proclamation, they have no say on if you can or cannot bring more vks over! All we have to do is follow the steps you did last time and just…bring ‘em over! We might have some problems after that but fuck ‘em!” Ben stared at you for a moment, trying to realize what you were saying before it hit him.
“They can't vote on my first proclamation! They can only put rules on it! And since we closed ruling on it before you guys came” he pointed to Evie “they can't add any more rules! It's perfect!” “Let the bullshitting commence~!!!” you cackled. Lifting your hands in the air and spinning around “and if they try to send ‘em back because we went behind their backs, we can pull the fucking family card on ‘em!” Ben and Evie looked at you confused
“Harriet and CJ?! If they try to send them back for whatever shit reason you can just go” your voice drifted into a false light tone as you mocked Ben “ ‘oh, are you really going to send back these kids and separate a family?’ and just have Harry do that doe eye thing he does scarily well and BOOM! Six new vks here to stay~”
Evie stared at you while Ben did a mini celebration dance “(y/n) I now understand why Harry and Gil tell us not to piss you off, you are scary” you grinned at that and bowed.
“Thank you~ I do take pride in terrifying those who don’t understand my brilliance~”
Ben laughed a bit, turning back to his desk and pulling out the guardian applications “so what are we going to do about the guardians? (y/n) you mentioned something about Harriet being CJ’s guardian automatically so we wouldn’t need one for CJ?” you nodded, sitting back down in one of Bens cushy chairs.
“yeah, dunno if it’ll fully work out though so we should still pick out a guardian for her. And if it's possible, that Harriet could also be the twin's guardian, if I’m remembering correctly since Harriet is CJ’s biological guardian which in turn makes her CJ’s legal guardian, she could technically sign up to have two more kids under her name” Ben hummed slightly, shuffling through a stack of papers.
“i’mmm not sure, I think it’s possible, but what do we do about Dizzy and Sammy? They are both underage, aren’t they? And Harriet can’t be their guardian either”
you sighed, leaning back in your chair and rubbing your head “We can ask if any of the current guardians would be okay with being responsible for another vk, but I don’t know if they will go for it”
Ben glanced up at the clock and groaned “it's already almost curfew guys, I say we leave this for now and come back with fresh minds, it'll be easier to think when we're not dead tired”
“agreed” you and Evie chuckled, grabbing your things and waving Ben goodnight, walking back to your dorms.
“This is going to be a whole thing, isn’t it?” Ben sighed, shifting through the new vk applications, and Evie's two pound list, setting Harriet and CJs on top of Harry's file “but It’ll be worth it in the end”
-end of part 1-
part 1 yall~! we did it~!!!! i think to give myself some time to write the parts, ill be posting once a week, possibly on Saturdays (as to not post at the same time as @disneyfan50 because they post on Fridays with their amazing true defender fic and i don't want to possibly take away any of the stage from them that they so deserve because their writing is incredible and i’ll stop lol-) but yeah, Mini-series, here it is!!! i hope i’m doing good on the core fours characterization, and Mal’s, they are all still learning (while Carlos is a bit ahead of them because I've always seen him as the most emotionally mature) and unlearning stuff from the isle and Mal is learning to see that Uma and she arent really that different and Mal needs to stop being a hypocrite over things that Uma did that Mal did 6 months before her. :/
anyway Permtaglist!

okay so i figured out the ages for D3 rewrite for all relevant characters because i care about that for some reason
also if they had officially stated birthdays i’ll give em that but if its just stated by the actor or stated by fandom it’ll be my own choice of birthday.
Edit; for context, the Isle was “created” July 4th 1995 (not canon...i think... but it works for the rewrite)
so as of the beginning of D3, which is August 2nd 2019 the ages are;
Ben-19-2000 January 16th (my choice)
Evie -19-1999 October 11th (canon)
Mal -19- 1999 December 31st (canon)
Jay - 20 - 1999 January 21st (my choice/BooBoo’s bday)
Carlos -17 - 2002 May 27th (my choice)
Harry - 20 - 1999 April 21st (my choice/Thomas’ bday)
Gil - 20 - 1999 March 8th (my choice)
Uma - 19 - 1999 December 31st (canon)
Jane - 16 - 2002 August 10th (canon/using in universe timeline) i cant tag them for some reason but thank you to starbowhearts on the descendants discord for sharing your HC for Jane’s bday~ im using it
Audrey - 19 - 1999 August 27th (my choice/my birthday cuz she shares my first and middle name so i do what i want)
Chad - 20 - 1999 May 5th (my choice)
Smee Twins - 13 - 2006 July 29th (canon)
Sammy Smee - 20- 1996 September 6th (my choice)
Harriet Hook - 22 - 1995 September 13th (my choice)
CJ Hook - 17 - 2002 February 14th (my choice)
Dizzy - 15 - 2003 November 28th (canon)
Celia - 14 - 2004 - October 31st (canon)
Hadie - 24 - 1995 - June 20th (my choice)
Melinoe - 24 - June 20th (my choice)
Ginny Gothel - 22 - 1996 March 24th (my choice)
Colin Hearts -20- 1999 February 5th (my choice)
Diego De’vil -18- 2001 May 11th (my choice)
Claudine Frollo -18- 2001 May 17th (my choice)
and technically it would be the readers B-day for (y/n) but cuz i can;
(y/n) - 19- 1999 August 27th (my birthday, though i was born 2001)
soo yeah! D3 rewrite birthdays and ages!...if you disagree on any birthdays or ages ill remind you im the one writing this dumbass fic and I get to choose the birthdays/ages.

Diego De’vil - Son of Cecil B. De Vil and older cousin of Carlos De’vil
Diego was a strapping young man, the older cousin of Carlos and the lead singer and guitarist of the rotten apples. when he was younger he would sneer at those who would either compare his looks to his much smaller at the time cousin or accidently call him Carlos. now a’days he took a bit more pride in being Carlos cousin. his hair was cut into a short brushed back Mohawk that transitioned from black at the roots to white at the edges, similar to Carlos’ own hair. he wore red and black most of the time, decorated with spikes and pins with hard combat boots and patched up jeans. his fingers were calloused from years of guitar picking and freckles decorated his face and shoulders.
Diego De’vil, the forgotten cousin of Carlos. he wont be forgotten any longer though.

-Harry Hook POV-
It’s been 2 weeks since I've left the Isle to come to boradon, and it's …so so, most people here don’t think my friends and I belong a *cough* Audrey and Chad *cough* so they kept trying to get us in trouble. Like trying to get us to fight them, as it’s a threat that if we get into a fight we’ll get sent back. Weirdly enough, Peter Pan’s son, David, and the next gen Darling kids seemed to not care who was my dad, HELL! Even Wendy herself had decided to ignore my last name and basically adopt me. I’m not kidding! She sends me fucking cookies and shit!!! She invited me for brunch!!!
(and now we return to our regularly scheduled program)
Grabbing my math book and stuffing it in my bag, I sighed to myself and closed my locker, heading out to class.
‘never thought I’d be going to math class, hell on the isle I couldn’t count! I-‘
My thoughts were interrupted as I was slammed into the lockers beside me, turning I glared at the banes of my existence.
The descendants of the lost boys, five of the group of 10 grinning at me with malicious intent
“hey Hook!”
Glaring at them I tried to walk away, breathing deeply as to keep my temper in check.
“come on! we wanna play a game!” Calvin, the son of slightly, grabbed my flannel and threw me to the floor, my head smacking on the floor and black started to edge in my vision, my hearing also beginning to fade out.
‘godamit I can't fight back’
But they didn’t care, they simply just started to beat down on me, hitting my ribs and one kicking my face, pain exploded everywhere.
‘someone, make it stop, please!’
“HA HA! Come on get up Hook! I thought you were tougher than your dad! HAHA!”
“HEY, GET AWAY FROM HIM”
“SHIT ITS-“
The only thing I heard was skin hitting skin, and the yelps of the lost boys. Soon five sets of footsteps ran off and I felt a hand press to my cheek, I softly hissed in pain, and the new person yelled for somebody to get another person. I felt someone pick me up, then I passed out.
---
I could see a light behind my eyelids, moaning in pain as I felt the bruising on my face and ribs, soon I heard someone shuffling over to me
“Mr. Hook? Are you awake?” groaning and nodding my head I slowly opened my eyes, a woman with auburn hair in a bun, wearing a school nurse uniform, stood by the bed, staring at him with worry in her eyes.
“Mr. Hook? Are you feeling alright?” nodding my head I sat up and rubbed my head, feeling a bump at the back of my head.
“what happened?”
“you were apparently assaulted by some of the lost boys and Ms. Loxley brought you here after fending them off.”
I furrowed my brows and asked her who Ms. Loxley was “Ms. Loxley is (y/n) Loxley, daughter of Robin Hood”
I nodded and asked if I could leave the nurses office.
“in a minute, I just need to give you an examination and some medication and then your free to go, oh also your excused from classes for the rest of the week.”
I placed my feet on the ground and stood as she shuffled around the medical room grabbing medication and other stuff
“okay this is for your head and this is for everything else, take both once a day”
“aye, by the way, were is Loxley? I want to…um”
The nurse smiled and informed me that she was at the archery range “do you know where that is Mr. Hook?”
“uh no”
“okay one second”
She walked to the door and looked out and gestured for someone to come
“Mr. De’vil? Can you lead Mr. Hook to the archery range? He would like to see Ms. Loxley”
Carlos looked at me for a second a glint of fear in his eyes before it disappeared after seeing my bruises.
“uh yeah sure come on Harry”
I grabbed my bag that was resting on a nearby chair and followed Carlos (and dude) out the medical room and walked silently behind him, keeping my gaze in front of me, seeing Carlos glancing at me in concern.
He bit his lip before gaining the courage to talk to me, “so what happened? Why were you in the medical room?”
I raised an eyebrow at him before answering “Calvin and his cronies decided I was an easy target cuz of that stupid “vks cant fight” rule” Carlos Hummed in agreement “yeah Jay hates that rule too, he says it deprives him of the honor of kicking the dudes who insult the VKS asses”
That’s when dude decided to speak “yeah mal hates it too, she has almost snapped many times, but Ben holds her back” I blinked in surprise, I honestly forgot the dog could talk.
“I forgot yer dog could talk.” Carlos snickered, “yeah that surprises people still, it’s really funny when dude does it randomly”
I hummed and saw the archery range, I sped up a little, Carlos keeping up. “ya know, ever since you got to Auradon, you have gotten a lot less scary” I rolled my eyes, I know why.
“Maybe it’s because I can't do anything, I used to be able to do on the isle hmm~?” I pointed out, slightly glaring at the son of Cruella.
“yeah I guess” he mumbled, curling back slightly under my glare. I rolled my eyes (I seem to be doing that a lot) and turned my sight back to the archery range where I saw a female figure walking across the field, carefully aiming at each target, and hitting them with absolute precision.
“whoa” the three of us breathed, never seen anything like that before. She took notice of us staring and made her way towards us, doing her hood to reveal her face, smooth (s/c),(plump/thin) cherry lips, athletic body, (h/l) (h/c) hair messy and framing her face perfectly, those piercing (e/c) eyes staring at me once again, that’s when I realized, this was the girl I saw the day I came!
‘dang she’s actually really pretty’
“hello,” she grinned “what brings you three down here?” I don’t waste any time, “are ye the one who thrashed the lost boys?” a proud glint came to her eyes and she confirmed that yes, she was the one who saved me.
“oh well.. um... I…” dammit why was it so hard to say thanks! She giggled and waved me off “you’re welcome Harry! Are you alright by the way?”
“uh yeah, the nurse gave me painkillers and stuff”
“that’s good”
Carlos stood awkwardly before picking up dude, announcing that he was going to head to his dorm.
“see ya Carlos!”
“see ya (y/n)”
Harry only waved and turned back to you.
As Carlos left the two of you talked and Harry walked with you as you retrieved your arrows, soon you both heard the dreaded sound of other people, Chad and his ‘‘friends” walked around the edge of the range, laughing obnoxiously to themselves.
Chad looked around, saw you and Harry and turned to his “friends” and gestured to the two of you, the boys grinned maliciously and headed towards you.
“hey look” both you and Harry groaned, turning to look at the son of Cinderella, “it’s the dyke and the fag!”
Harry gritted his teeth, and your glare became deadly. You facepalmed at the use of the slurs, Chad was so narrow-minded.
“go away Chad!” he smirked “no I don’t think I will~”
Harry mumbled to you “why’d he call ye a dyke?”
“I've dated a few girls in my life so he decided I was lesbian cuz I haven’t dated a boy”
“ah” “Why'd he call you a fag?”
“im a pirate, it's kinda the stereotype that goes with it”
“got ya”
“you two fags done talking?”
Harry was really close to punching Chad, but he couldn’t cuz of that stupid rule. You glanced at Harry knowing he couldn’t do anything, but you could, drawing three arrows you lined them up and glanced at chad, he froze like deer in headlights, knowing your skill, his “friends” started giggling
“come on girly!”
“yeah we all know archery is a man's sport”
“Yeah, I bet you can't even draw the string!”
Keeping your breath calm you spoke in a deadly voice, shocking Harry.
“you all have three seconds to leave and stop bothering us before I do something you'll regret”
“hahaha is she serious!”
“one”
“id love to see this!”
“two”
“shoot shoot!”
“three”
Drawing the string back you aimed at Chad, releasing the arrows pierced Chad's shirt and pants and pinned him to a nearby tree, Causing his “friends” to shut up, never having seen something like that before.
Harry jaw dropped open ‘holy crap shes good!’ you smirked and drew another arrow, the group reeling back in fear
“I warned you~” you sang,”now leave! And take charming there with you” the idiots nodded, unpinned Chad and bolted for the school.
You and Harry stood there for a moments before bursting out laughing
“that” Harry gasped “was amazing!”
You giggled and retrieved your arrows “thanks!! That was really fun!”
*briiidng*
Hearing the bell ring, you packed up and started to make your way to your dorm “hey! Were ye going?”
“my dorm, the bell rung, my free periods over so I gotta get to class, you should get going as well”
“Oh okay” waving to harry you exited the range before Harry called after you “(y/n)!” turning to harry you saw his face flush, “um,…thank you”
You grinned at him “you’re welcome Harry”
The two of you went your own way, Harry to his dorm to rest, you to your dorm to put your gear away.
Only one thought rested in your minds
‘why is she so kind to someone like me?’
‘who knew the son of Hook could be so handsome’

Winner’s Curse Ch. 13
Super excited for this one. Lots of references to characters from the Aladdin series. Enjoy.
Jay glanced around at the muddy, deserted streets and was amazed by how quickly he was able to shift back to alert Isle mode. The mode that was prepared for a surprise attack at any moment whether from Uma’s pirate crew or some person angry that he stole their goods once again.
It was like a tourney reflex that he honed in from months of practice only it was deeper than that. It was instinctive.
He would always be from the Isle. That would never change.
And when he had been feeling it more and more during this week with the Auradonians.
Before this whole “Save Auradon (for the third time) from the Isle,” Aziz and Jordan tolerated him. Aziz was kinda moody around him even though he swore he had no problem that their dads had been enemies, but sometimes when they’d hang out with the rest of the team, Aziz would pull him away and show him around Little Agraban.
Jordan usually acted less than pleased to be his presence and always sniped about his sticky fingers even though he stole her lamp just one time. How was he supposed to know that it was her lamp. He didn't even know genies could have kids. And okay, maybe he was a bit curious to see if it would work. But that incident sealed her view of him, he was a deceitful no good thief.
Now they acted like he was only Jafar Jr. in their eyes. It made him miss Evie, Carlos and Mal. They would have his back if they were here.
Even the Vks.. oh Allah when did he start calling them “Vks?” He always used to think of himself as just from the Isle.
Even the Isle kids they had teamed up with disliked him.
He had never liked Harry or Uma and their crew, and their hostilities only grew when he stood by Mal and their friends.
He didn’t need to hear Uma’s side of the whatever sob story grudge she had against Mal, he was sticking by his dragon girl. No matter what. She had his back and he had hers.
Uma was just a power-grabber, always trying to edge on Mal’s rightful territory. Hopefully Jordan was seeing that now for herself. People always ignored him when it came to strategizing and plans but he knew a thing or two about people.
Who to manipulate, who to avoid, who to charm, who to steal from. And any plan with Uma was bound to fail. She’d always try to take power for herself. As for Lala...He had met her a few times before when their parents hooked up. He asked her if she was worried their future half sibling would become her mom’s favorite and she shrugged, saying that she doubted it. La treated her children as more of a mini hunting squad; food providers now she no longer had leopard men.
Jay understood all too well. Jafar wanted him to earn his food by stealing whatever trinket he could for the shop. Or even stealing food itself. But no matter how much he stole or what he stole, it was never the “big score” that would make his father proud of him. Or care about him.
But Lala didn’t want to bond on that commonality. She always seemed to look down on him for stealing his dinner from others rather than hunting food down with his bare hands.
And okay, maybe he stole several of her weapons too.
So? He didn’t know what Queen La preached but he had been following his dad’s mantra that “There was no team in “I.”
That it was best to only serve himself and make sure everyone loses but the more time he spent in Auradon, he realized something. That even though he believed his own boasts as the most selfish, bad guy on the Isle, he never had been.
His friendship with the others had excluded him from the title from the start.
And now he wished he had his friends by his side. He missed having the security of backup and people who understood what it was like on the Isle.
He looked at his two partners from his peripheral eyesight. Jordan had healed Aziz’s back but she was still checking him and Aziz was swatting her hands away, bickering in Arabic.
Jay clenched his fist to ignore the rise of frustration that welled up in his chest. They knew Arabic, they knew things like mathmatics and science and history and so many other things that some of the Aks looked down on him for when he asked his “stupid” questions in class.
All he had were his father’s stories.
There were so many differences between them because of fate. Their parents, where they were born. It was all so unfair.
He knew Jordan and Aziz’s intentions were probably good, having the villains take over Auradon would be no treat, especially since some were pretty pissed that his friends hadn’t gotten them off during Ben’s Coronation as they had said they would.
But Aziz and Jordan didn’t truly understand. Once this was over, they would go back to their plush lives as if nothing had happened.
Which he had been doing as well up till now.
Another thing he couldn’t help notice beside reverting to his Isle mode were the kids. He hadn’t noticed them before. But even though he didn’t usually listen to Evie’s Isle proposals, some of her speeches slipped into his head.
He looked at the few children he had seen that were brave enough to roam the streets despite the Coven’s strict law. Many of them were about searching through trash cans for food. Looking for one unspoiled apples among the leftovers or daring each other to eat the most rotten.
He remembered he used to do that with Gaston’s son, bragging that he could eat anything no matter how foul tasting or disgusting it was. It had given him food poisoning more than once, but he had been proud of himself for not complaining about it like a man.
Lady Tremine’s 3 year old grandson would be able to boast the same, Jay thought as he saw the bob-ponytailed boy run away with a bundle of molded bananas.
It wasn’t just the food that was the problem. The dirt and the hygine was seriously lacking. Something he hadn’t realized until he got to Auradon and Couch Jenkins required the team to take showers after practice. He had just stood in amazement as he looked at all the dirt swirl down and eventually clogged the drain.
When he got sick on the Isle, he had learned not to complain. Many parents didn’t tolerate whining about a “little sniffle” even if that sniffle turned out to be a raging fever. Every year there was always some bunch of kids that ended up being buried on the shores of the Isle.
He could sort of understand why Uma and Evie were so determined to get kids off it. While he had been fine living here, proud of himself for surviving so long, Auradon really was a better place to live and these kids deserved to get that chance.
But Jordan and Aziz had been so concerned about infiltraiting the Coven, they had been neglecting Evie’s list and he doubted that they would give it priority so it was left to him to find them. He doubted the others would mind, he had a feeling that Jordan would be oh too happy to be rid of his presence for a couple of hours.
He knew Diego De’Vil was on the list but he lived on the other side of the Isle where the more livable houses were instead of the shacks that lined the alleyways and docks. As for the others he would have to check the list again.
But Jordan took the list….
Oh this was going to be too easy.
Jay fell at their feet bracing himself for impact as they fell over him like dominos and ecieving a nasty kick to his ribs in the meanwhile. Hands scrambling, he felt around Jordan’s skirt for any pockets but couldn’t find any.
Did Jordan give the list to Aziz? Jay couldn’t remember but it would be just-
“Hands off the ass!” “Sorry, sorry, I tripped. Dude, get-aack- get your foot off my neck.” Jay mumbled when his face was suddenly pressed against the dirt.
“My foot is nowhere near your neck.”
“Well someone’s is!”
With some shoves, and dirt swirling from the wind picking up, they managed to get themselves all upright again.
Jay rubbed his head, surprised by how woozy he felt from the “accidental trip.” He must be getting rusty.
“We’re not getting anywhere like this.” Aziz snorted derisively, “We should probably split up. We’re too intimidating all together.” “You intimidating? Ha!” Jordan barked.
“Well it’s not like you’ve been having good ideas lately.” Aziz retorted.
“He’s right.” Jay cut in before another “boiling” incident could happen, “We usually stick to gangs on the Isle for safety. People will approch us if we’re alone. Or targte us so you better hold your weapons close.” Jay gripped his scimitir for emphesis.
“Got it. You go that way, I’ll go this way.” Jordan pointed to the point where they had come and motioned for Aziz to keep moving forward. She didn’t give Jay any directions. Figured. So Jay decided to go to the alleyways.
He closed his eyes as he did so, secretly congratulating himself every time he brushed past a wall or a person without hitting it. He knew this place with his eyes closed.
“Jayal, my son.” A voice slithered from behind him and Jay nearly tripped forward for real.
“Jay. You’ve gotten soft in Auradon haven’t you.” The voice mocked, his shadow looming over Jay’s on the ground.
“Hello, Dad” Jay turned to his back and looked up.
His dad looked nothing like he remembered. Gone was the beer belly, and tattered pajamas. He was no longer stooped with age and ill health. He looked like the picture of his glory days.
Jay never saw how his father could be seen as sinister. Patheticness and desperation reeked his appearance on the Isle but now he could.
Skinny as a cobra, the thin mustache and curled lips gloated as Jay looked up to his father. The turban’s glowing ruby kept blinding him as the lamp lights hit it and the pointed shoulders of his outer robe reminded Jay of all his dad’s threat of stabbing Aladdin and the rest of the royal family to death once he was back on the throne.
In hand, Jafar held his staff, now shimmering with magic that had been untapped until now.
“Get up you miserable whelp.” Jafar hit his legs with the staff, urging Jay to get up quickly. “Miserable whelp?” His dad never called him that. But then again from the slghtly blissful crazed look in his eye, he bet his dad was already drunk on power.
“Well, Jay, come to take me to Auradon a year too late?” Jafar sarcastically asked, catching Jay’s chin with his staff and drawing to him.
Jay felt himself at a loss of what to say and fear started to trail down his spine. “Well Jay?”
Jay knew what he would have done if any of his friends were to face their parents. He would stand between them and protect them from Maleficent’s scorn and Queen Grimhilde’s criticsm and Cruella’s abuse.
He’d bring those villains down with his fists, killer tourney moves, and whatever weapon he had in hand. Improvising weapons had been one of his more unusual yet necessary skills while growing up. Besides those three adults made him furious. Why did they think their abuse would make their kids better? They were just bitter about how their lives turned out, they used their kids as punching bags. Or a tool that if one achieved victory, they achieved victory without doing the work.
He had seen too many times Mal having near panic attacks about not living up to her mom’s perfect ideals, Evie’s meltdowns over a stray pimple and Carlos’ withdrawn demenour after a brutal evening alone with his mom.
Back then, he had seen what theit parents did to them, and Jay had done nothing.
He had told himself it wasn’t his fault. They hadn’t asked him too, they never went into detail about what happened behind the closed doors of their home. They were Vks, they were expected to suck up and deal with the tough love.
But he regretted it now. He had seen their pain and he hadn’t even asked them how it felt. It was too mushy, too personal but he still should have done something.
Damnit he had gotten bloody noses taking on Uma’s crew for messing with his friends in their somewhat superficial feud brought on by a child’s prank. But when it came to the real abuse. He did nothing. Yet they still thought of him as their “big brother.” Some big brother he was. He didn’t deserve that affection. He didn’t earn it after doing nothing. Just like Jafar said. Why would anyone care for you if you were a miserable parasite. That’s why he had to do his share and get goods for the store. Then he deserved some food.
However the whole situation was different when it came to facing his own father and how he treated him. He didn’t feel anger towards him like Mal sometimes did at night. He didn’t feel complete terror as Carlos always feared his mother.
He had never thought of seeing his father again and had no idea what he’d do.
Jafar wasn’t the worst parent on the Isle he thought. He never hit him outright except for one time when he had gotten really furious at Jay for bringing nothing home and threw random objects. Some accidentally hitting him on the head.
He didn’t criticize his looks like Evie’s mom or expected him to be the baddest villain on the Isle like Maleficent.
Jafar didn’t expect much of him except to bring the money.
Jafar didn’t care if he got beaten on his runs from other gangs. He wouldn’t have noticed until the end of the day when Jay didn’t come with the money. He would look past Jay’s scars and bruises and Jay would sometimes wonder if the blood he felt trickling down his nose was even visible for how little Jafar cared.
Though the one confirmation Jay had that Jafar did see Jafar see his scars was during the the few arguments where Jay rebelled against his dad. Jay would threaten to walk out and hoard his ill-gotten gains for himself if he didn’t get his fair share, Jafar would point out the bruises Jay had gotten from a fight before and remind him that he wouldn’t survive long fighting everyone on the streets. He should be thankful to his dad. Jafar him a home when he could have stayed at the brothel with his mom to die. He helped create him. He owed him his life.
Jay would concede that his dad was right and lay down under the tvs and try to ignore Jafar’s continued ranting. On that topic of Jay owing him his life, he should be bringing in more money. He knew Jay could get the big score so why was he always failing?
Yet despite how little Jafar cared for him. Demeaned him that he wouldn’t survive on his own. Gave him enough scraps of encouragement that he could steal bigger and better things that Jay would stick around.
Jay still cared about his dad. Because as much as he hated to admit it, he did. He owed him his life, and he had hated to see his father walk around his junk shop in pajamas and rant about his glory days to Iago. He had thought that if he could just get that big score that maybe he could fix his father’s tattered life. He could be proud again and proud of Jay. Praise him for bringing his power back into his life instead of being a burdensome child and then…
Well that was where the fantasy ended. He didn’t know what would happen after the big score because he could never imagine it being possible. He could see himself swimming in piles of gold but he always knew it was a fantasy in his head. Not a future.
And since he’d been in Auradon, he had tried his best to ignore the nagging feeling that this was his chance to make his father proud, that he could finally be the “Crown prince of Agrabah he should be.” Jafar didn’t deserve Jay’s effort to earn his respect. Jay didn’t “owe” him his life.
He realized, even if he gave Jafar the seat of Agrabah, all the gold would never be enough. Jafar would still send him to fetch more. For him to steal something he could really be proud of. That Jay had to continue being useful in other ways, keep up his skills, get more and more gold. He’d never earn his father’s approval. All those years he spent trying..... That’s what angered him the most. He, the famed silver tongue prince of thieves of the Isle, fell for his father’s lie that there was a chance he could win his approval and maybe even love. And he had wasted 16 years of his life for him.
Jafar dropped Jay’s chin and threw his head back with a cackle, dirt swirled around him, transforming his skinny figure into a slender, black furred cat-man in Egyptian-styled robes.
Jay covered his eyes from the flying dirt and scowled, “You!”
He lunged to grab him by the throat but all he gripped was vanishing smoke.
“Over here, Jay.” The voice purred
Jay turned and punched at thin air.
“Whoops, wrong one. That one was an-”
“Illusion.” The two said together.
Jay looked up to follow the sound of the voice and felt the ground give way beneath him like quicksand.
Jay’s eyes searched frantically for a branch, something to hold onto but then took a deep breath and exhaled. He wasn’t really drowning. There was no quicksand on the Isle streets. It was just another illusion.
He opened his eyes to confirm his belief that he was safe and saw the Isle streets had completely disappeared. He was facing a dark iron laden wall dripping with moisture and cells lining the wall to his left.
“Huh where am?” Jay looked around wildly and found himself tied to a chair, Aziz and Jordan tied to his back as well.
“Hmm he didn’t panic about the quicksand. It’s always so disappointing when they don’t scream.” The teenage cat mock-whimpered to the female twin that appeared beside him.
“I know. But we still have time. All the time in the world. I can’t wait till Staqauit gets his hands on them.” The girl smiled, her fangs gleaming against the darkness of the room and the blackness of her fur.
“Illusion, Chimera.” Jay growled, fighting against the iron shackles that bound him.
“Oh don’t act so surprised that we’d mess with you. You should have seen yourself when you saw your father hehe! You were like a statue. All frozen and mute!” Illusion swiped his beanie to condescendingly ruffle his hair and then pulled the communications earpiece Carlos had gifted him from his ear and crushed it between her claws.
Though they didn’t physically look the part, these two were one of the most dangerous creatures on the Isle. Near gods. They were the children of Evil Incarnate.
They escaped entrapment by virtue of the fact that no one dared to enter their mother’s cosmic void, Morbia. But they did visit from time to time. They enjoyed all of the Isle’s backstabbing, thieving, immorality, and of course, evilness.
“Yeah we kinda figured the connection. Cat people with the powers of socercery and illusions. Of course you’re Mirage’s children. But seriously, Illusion? Chimera? Oh please tell me you have a third sibling named Hallucination. It’ll really tie up the theme naming.” Aziz mocked.
“Continue your brave little prince act…. I dare you.” Illusion walked over to Aziz’s side, disappearing from Jay’s view but he coud hear Aziz grunt and the familar sound of claws against skin and Jordan tense up beside him.
“Though we’ll admit, we didn’t do this just for the sake of evil.” Chimera buffed her nails on Jay’s shoulder as she settled on Jordan’s lap, “We wanted to create a little family reunion. Jay with his dad.”
“The prince with his uncles and cousin.” Illusion continued, “And the genie with her new master.”
“Isn’t that such a good deed? Maybe we’ll even be invited to come to Auradon.” Chimera cackled.
Jay tried to work his finger to find some sort of knot or chain to undo but there was no use. With Chimera and Illusin in the room, he doubted he would have a chance when they could literally change the landscape in an instant.
His frustration at their predicament grew alongside the still-mounted anger he had for himself at being duped by Illusion. And the greater anger that he had come face to face with who he had thought was his father and he had done nothing but stare.
He wanted to hit something, make them burn like the anger burned inside him... Wait that was an idea!
Jay nudged Jordan’s shoulder and tried to mouth for her to do the boiling trick she had to Uma as best as he could but Chimera just glared at him and Jay switched to give his best smolder in return.
"Antiqam!!!” Illusion called and the door slammed open to reveal a tall, tan man drapped in flowing blue robes studded with ambers and onyxes and desert diamonds and sporting a five o’clock shadow.
“Hello, cousins, genie.” Antiqam smiled. His face was warm but his silver eyes were cold and focused and that lied the greatest danger.
During the few Aladdin-haters club meetings back in the day, His father had always warned Jay to not go near Mozonroth or his son which honestly, he didn’t need any warning.
Antiqam was a good 8 years older than Jay and had the physique to match. But it wasn’t the muscle that scared Jay, no, wits beat muscle any day, it was just that Antiqam was manipulative as he was strong and had an unpredictable temper.
The dangerous part though wasn’t when Antiqam would snap but how. Antiqam could vanquish you in a swift blast of heat or he could arrange for a slow torture by manipulating you to ruin your own life.
But despite the danger, Jay had to ask, “Cousins?”
Hey, just because his life was in peril, it didn’t mean he had to act like it. That was one of the foremost rules of the Isle and thievery, never let them see you sweat.
“Oh Jay, you don’t know? Besides being cousins to the insufferable soon to be ex- prince over here, you and I are distantly related. I am Antiqam iban Mozonroth iban Cassim and Nasira. Your…” Antiqam prompted.
“Aunt. Aunt Nasira is your grandmother?” Jay stared, suddenly gripped by a headache. He never really knew his aunt’s age or his father’s. It didn’t matter much since villains seemed to pop up from the dead like woodwork or achieved immortality somehow, but this was a new revelation.
“Yes! And Cassim is the princy boy’s grandfather. So you two are my baby cousins. And you are my new genie. Well my father’s. Then mine. We planned it all out. Your father will go to Jafar, and your mother to Nasira. It’s so nice that there’s three of you. Makes splitting things up easier.” Antiqam smirked.
“We live to serve to make things easier for you.” Jordan bitterly smiled.
“Eventually you’ll go to my little brother and his family. My heirs will be inheriting bigger things, more servants since they’ll be the ones ruling the Black Sands and the kingdom of Agrabah.” Antiqam held out his hand and Illusion obediently gave him Jordan's lamp. “So we’re all one big family. I mean once we execute half of it. Starting with the crown heir.” Antiqam slipped out of Jay’s view again to Aziz’s side.
“Yeah, sorry to disappoint you but I’m not the crown heir. I’m the second in line.” Aziz cockily corrected.
“Uhh I think there might be a problem with that if my father rules Agrabah.” Jay couldn’t help but add when Antiqam was about to speechify again, much to Antiqam’s annoyance, “I mean not that any you’ll ever will get to rule Agrabah. We won’t let you get away with this.”
Antiqam leaned down so they could look eye to eye and stared at Jay’s defiant ones, holding his gaze until Jay reluctantly broke his. “Heh, that is up to discussion. We haven’t exactly planned the boundries yet but Jafar and Nasira won’t live forever. And you and Jade can always be deposed of.”
“Or be used as servants.” Jordan piped up earning her a confused look from Imran.
“What? Seriously?” Jay cried. He knew she didn’t like him but really? To immediately backstab him the moment they were in trouble! And Aks said they were bad.
“Jafar came to the Isle as a genie bound to a lamp. You can always use him as your genie if he doesn’t do what you want. So you’ll have that as blackmail.” “And then I won’t have a reason to use you. Is that what youre getting at? Don’t think so.” Antiqam finished and dipped his finger in the dip between her breasts, smirking as she cringed, “Jafar’s lamp is in the hands of his sister and even if I wanted a genie, I would still choose you. I think we both know why.”
“What about Jafar’s crotch? It could be good. We don’t know. We haven’t seen it. Maybe it’s a diamond in the rough, it’ll take you to a whole new world.” Jordan blurted.
Jay felt himself growing queasy and vainly pressed his ears to his shoulders in an effort to will away that sentence and image. Antiqam backed away, his look of disgust giving way to amusedly shaking his head, “You are definitely a genie. Always talking about the most inane subjects.”
“To be fair my mom has speculated on your dad’s crotch so it might be genetic. Mainly about him compensating...” “Jordan!” Aziz shouted.
“I’m nervous.” Jordan cringed, “But you’re right, I should gag myself right now. That-That would probably be a good idea.”
Antiqam laughed outright, “This is too easy. I mean that little side-tangent about crotches was disturbing. But still. My own gorgeous annoying phenomenally cosmic genie! No one will ever be in my way and I can assure you, you will soon see I have nothing to compensate for.”
Whatever Antiqam was about to say next was interrupted by the sound of a door creaking open. They all whipped their heads around to see who had entered and saw Jafar with his sister, Nasira and her daughter, Jade.
Jay looked to the two cat dieties. It would be just like them to create another illusion just to add to the psychological and emotional pain but neither looked devious. They looked anticipatory just like cats eyeing the canary to see who would make the first move. The cat pouncing or the canary flying.
Jay gulped. It must mean this was truly his father, he could tell by the irritated look on his face that Jay had seen most of his life. The same furrowed brown and frown that seemed to pull down the rest of his face. Aunt Nasira stood by him like a second command which was unusual since Aunt Nasira and his dad had a falling out a few years ago but he supposed they reunited once the opportunity came to seize Agrabah. Jade stood behind her mother looking pityingly at him which was.. different. Everything about her looked different actually. Jade wasn’t wearing her scratched and worn leather pants and faded purple crop top but a flowing violet abaya with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and bloodstones adorning the collar like the ones he saw the Sultana and Aziz’s sisters wear on TV. She had completed the look with an opulent jade and gold choker and matching head-chain, looking every bit a princess as those that attended Auradon Prep.
He and Jade has always got along, always teased and got on each other’s nerves. She used to be his partner in pickpocketing before their parent’s fell out though that didn’t stop them from getting similar tattoos on his 13th birthday. His was a cobra striking to the left and hers was a coiled viper looking to the right. Both were on their lower backs so if they stood next to each other, it looked like the snake tattoos were about to fight. The tattoo fit her. She was as fierce and vicious as a viper or more accurately, her mom.
Although they never had a close bond like he did with his friends, he also considered her as someone to count on. Their relationship was different than that with Mal, Evie and Carlos. While their differing personalities contrasted yet melded to somehow work as an awesome team, he and Jade were so similar they were often mistaken for fraternal twins and not just because of their similar looks.
A day didn’t feel quite right if he went without talking with at least one person from his gang but he and Jade could go for months without talking and pick up again like nothing. She was someone to go to hang out and relax. Compare notes on what they imagined Agrabah to be like.
They didn’t have a touchy feely relationship. He couldn’t remember the last time he really touched Jade beyond fighting back to back with her or flicking her on the forehead compared to the numerous hugs Evie pulled him into or Carlos jumping into his arms. Jay knew he would never have to protect her like he did with the others because Jade could handle people herself. She didn’t need him and she’d proudly boast of the fact.
They didn’t get emotional with each other or talk about their feelings, it was only fun and games between them. They didn’t give pitying looks. Jade was too tough for that.
So if she was looking at him that pityingly….
Jay watched warily as Jafar strode towards him, his arm so outstretched it looked like the staff was leading the way. The staff that he had stared at every night before he went to bed, thinking of his dad’s stories of its mind control powers.
Jay vaguly registered his father’s “Jayal, my son.” He thought he heard Illusion cackle saying, “That’s what I said! I got it right.” He might have heard Jade murmur something. And there was some echo about remembering there was no “I” in team. But he didn’t see anything.
All he could see was the staff’s bright ruby eyes. Those tantalizing glowing eyes that must have been in the Cave of Wonders for it gleamed and shined like the thousands and millions of jewels and treasures and gold that was said to be there. It was so tempting, so mesmerizing.
He couldn’t look away.

Winner’s Curse Ch. 7
Thanks as always to @edream93 for looking this over and giving me very helpful feedback.
Jordan couldn’t believe she actually agreed to this insane plan.
After Ben had asked her if she would be willing to go to the Isle and magically stop a Coven of super-powered, better-experienced villains, she had transported herself out of there. Once she got to her lamp, she collapsed in front of her mirror in some hysterical shock-induced laughter.
Her? Be the hero of the story? That was rich.
Having the Vks do it made so much more sense. They had the whole reformed villain narrative going on, but her?
She was the snarky loner, the daughter of the sidekick.
The sidekicks worked best as little helpers to the heroes like she did with Aziz’s lack of love life or political savvy.
And the reason she did that job well was because aiding someone else’s messed up life was so much easier than fixing her own. She couldn’t be trusted to make decisions, she could barely make small talk.
Also genies never make decisions! That’s why they had masters because they screw up their own lives so easily.
Or at least she screwed up her own life easily by arguing with her mom, and choosing gold diggers to date and general judgemental attitude...
No she was not going to go there. This was not the time for self-reflection. That only made her head hurt.
Plus whenever she made self-improvement plans she always broke her vows by the next day like everyone else did after New Years.
No, no. She was not meant to be the hero. She couldn’t be. She had to be much more deep, and noble and kind to do that.
And that was what she had planned to say when she went back to Ben’s room.
She wasn’t cut out for the Isle.
Sure, Freddie said she was the closest thing to a Vk in Auradon, but that was by Auradonian standards.
On the Isle she would probably insult the wrong person and blow their cover.
The closest thing she came to as a leader was an awful job she had as a tour guide in Agrabah for three days. She had quit after sucking scorpion venom out of one too many asses from stupid tourists that did not watch where they sat.
And she really doubted that anyone consider that experience a good prerequisite for leadership.
But most importantly and terrifyingly, she wasn’t trained to battle dark magic.
There were so many good reasons to say no, but when she arrived in Ben’s office, there were Ben, Jay, Aziz, Dizzy and Evie sitting in a circle and discussing their next moves.
“There she is. It only took 30 minutes for her to come to her senses, but I knew she would do it.” Ben cried when she entered.
“Uh yeah about-”
“That’s wonderful!” Dizzy squealed, abruptly invading her personal space for a tight hug.
Evie beamed, “Good, we have that settled. Now, I was thinking that while Jordan is there, whoever else on her team..”
“I am.” Jay interrupted, “She’s going to need someone who knows the way around the Isle, and some of this muscle.”
“Me too.” Aziz added, “This is Jordan’s team, and she wants me by her side as always. Right, Jord?”
“The team?” Jordan repeated nervously.
This was not happening. She hadn’t officially agreed to this yet.
“Great,” Evie said smoothly, physically putting herself between the two boys, “While you are there, I want you to list the conditions of the Isle. As well as contacting this list of names. They hadn’t answered Ben’s invitation to come to Auradon so I want you to talk to them directly.
Hermie Bing
Hadie
Jade
Harold Jace
Diego De’Vil.”
“Wait, Yzla is still on your list? Even after what Zevon did?” Jay questioned.
“We aren’t like our parents. Yzla isn’t like her brother.” Evie said sternly, her usually compassionate eyes had a menacing glint daring anyone to cross her choices.
“How about Hadie, I still have a good feeling about her from what you told me.” Ben suggested.
“Hadie is still a question mark. Children of Gods can be pretty unpredictable.”
They weren’t listening. They were talking in front of her as if she didn’t exist. They were just like her parents assuming that she would be happy to go along with their plans about think about the consequences.
No matter how loudly she yelled at them to listen, they would move on to a more “fun” topic.
It was always the same and this was probably one of the most important decisions that would impact her life and she wasn’t getting a say?
“Guys, I didn’t confirm that I would agree!”
Everyone stopped talking to stare at her.
Well maybe she could scream loudly enough to get people’s attention.
Including the hopeful face of Dizzy who looked suddenly terrified as if she knew what was going on through Jordan’s mind and that she planned to say no.
Her face reminded Jordan of Carlos’ sheer terror when he thought he was late for his date with Jane. How that terror related to his mother’s constant abuse of him since he was child. Maybe Dizzy had a similar scar as he.
She bet many Vks had scars like Carlos. Forced to take on the beatings and disappointment of their parents while pretending they didn’t feel pain whatsoever.
And if she didn’t help to stop the Coven, maybe they all would have to suffer the abuse if the Coven succeeded. Jay would go back to sleeping underneath tvs, and Carlos would be harassed by his mom, Evie, Mal, Freddie, Dizzy... The names went on.
She couldn’t bring herself to say no to DIzzy now. Not with seeing her eyes turn as big as a puppy and her head filled with horrors.
“Because the answer is obviously yes.” Jordan managed a weak smile.
So she wasn’t the most heroic person in the world, but apparently she had an easily manipulated guilty conscious when it came to puppy eyes.
They were going to be so screwed.
But Jordan kept that little thought to herself as Ben proceeded to interrogate her about her lack of plans and who else she wanted on he unofficial team besides Jay and Aziz. She had been tempted to say FG because she knew she had experience, but also knew it was highly unlikely the fairy godmother would agree to such a thing.
She wanted Freddie, but skillswise her only great talent was stealing since her attempted magic with her shadow cards was amateurish at best. Jane was in the same boat. There wasn’t any room for magical mistakes in this mission.
She wanted someone powerful, but skilled. She wanted intimidation but also someone who could blend in. She wanted someone smart but not such a smartass that she would be annoyed by him.
Basically she wanted a team that would hide her faults and do all the work that she was pretty sure she couldn’t pull off.
Ben gave her till the end of the week to gather her team together and he promised that he would work with Evie, and Mal to arrange convenient yet believable excuses for their absence.
Jordan paced around her lamp the whole night after that instruction with only one name coming to mind that she absolutely had to ask.
Calix.
He was perfect. He knew some of the sorcery his mother had taught him and had some siren allure that would allow him to mind control people away from causing trouble.
Plus years ago they did a blood oath that they would always be each other’s partner in crime. What better crime or adventure was this! Sneaking onto the Isle to save their homeland.
But in recruiting him, she had to explain that his mother had gone over to the dark side. That wasn’t going to be fun.
So here she was painting a nude portrait of Calix for an art class that she didn’t even take as her subtle excuse to make him come over.
He had a cream white cape draped over his right shoulder in the style of old Roman emperors, clutching a book to his chest and holding out a candle and laurel in the other, totally oblivious to the drama bomb she was going to drop on him.
"I have to be nude while holding this because...?" Calix questioned, fidgeting and impatiently swishing the dark brown bangs that fell over his left eye.
Jordan nearly knocked over the canvas she was drawing on. It was irrational she knew, but she felt like any second now Calix was somehow going to figure out the real reason she had called for him to hang and have an ugly breakdown.
"Nudity is the transparency of the soul. Duh." Jordan snapped, wishing she didn’t feel so jumpy, "Now, stop moving your head, I'm trying to draw your hair."
"Can I sit down at least?" Calix complained, shaking a leg.
"Yes you can sit." She rolled her eyes, reminding herself to act normal. Calix sighed as he plopped down to sit cross legged.
“Soooo...” Jordan procrastinated, venturing to do her “favorite” thing to do in the world- small talk, “How are you doing?”
“Jord? We saw each other last weekend. Remember? We spent all of spring break together. Trust me, nothing interesting has happened since then.”
“Oh right, I knew that. But.. but you must have done something interesting this week. Been with any nymphs? Dated anyone?”
“Did you call me here to ask me about Dina?” Calix’s upper lip curled into a smug smirk as if he just solved a rather difficult mystery, “Don’t tell me. You want to have rebound sex revenge and use her? Or you just like torturing yourself by hearing about your ex?”
And there was the man that so loved to irritate her. Usually on Tuesdays.
“I am completely over Dina.” Jordan snarled, barely resisting the urge to throw the charcoal at his face, “She was a fling. A fling that I did not even love or care about.”
“Then why did you not want to go to any of the clubs that she frequents while you were visiting Greece?” Calix smiled knowingly at him.
“Umm...I might have.. slightly. Tiny bit. Really really understandably lost my temper at her when she asked me for wishes.” Jordan cringed at the memory.
Dina had been a nice spring fling. A nymph with more than a few party habits that were similar to her parents that she didn’t like to dwell on. She would leave that complex to Electra. And though Jordan had had no interest beyond the physical, she had thought the same was for Dina too. Dina liked her for the casual sex. The kissing. Partying.
Not as a potential opportunity for a wish.
Jordan supposed it was silly to have thought that Dina didn’t have an ulterior motive for being in a relationship with her but that girl was so unsubtle about it...so blunt when she did ask Jordan for a stretch limo.
Could she really be blamed for her reaction then?
“What did you do?” Calix singsonged like a little kid, clapping his hands eagerly.
“I might have made the limo she asked for turn into an asp at midnight.” Jordan sheepishly muttered.
Calix burst out laughing, “That’s priceless! How did she react? Wait was she in the limo when it turned into a python? Did it bite her on the ass? No, no, don’t tell me. I’d like to imagine it for myself. Oh gods, how dumb can she be. Thinking you wouldn’t use that wish against her.”
“Yep, she’s a bonafide idiot.” Jordan rolled her eyes, “And you sound like an idiot, laughing like a hyena. So back to the subject at hand, what have you’ve been doing lately?”
Calix composed himself, rubbing some of the tears that had formed around the corners of his eyes. “Well I have started dating Morrían. Well not dating. Occasionally meeting her for coffee whenever she’s in Greece is more like it. And I know what you’re going to say—I don’t love her so don’t put any sort of dating rumors on your channel again.”
Jordan pouted, “I wouldn’t talk about you on my channel if you would just watch voluntarily. Or you know, actually use a phone like a normal person.”
Calix waved his hand dismissively at her, “Tech addict.”
Jordan bit her lip to resist the urge to start up their usual Technology-Useful?-Or-Bane-of- Society? argument, and switched to something more relevant- “Whose Morrían?”
“Morgaine Le Fey’s daughter.” Calix answered, “We met when you know...”
Claix voice trailed off with the words unspoken between them. Morgaine Le Fey had one of the few that had also been sent to the Isle due to unverified claims that she was plotting against KIng Arthur.
The moment of silence was brief enough for Calix perked up in a forced attempt to be lighthearted and began to describe the dates he had been having with Morrian, leaving Jordan to dwell on her thoughts.
She wondered if maybe sleeping with him would soften the news she was about to give him.
If he was honest about not having real feelings for Morrian then Calix would totally be game for banging on top of the canvas.
Then she could spring the news on him!
His brain would be all hyped on endorphins to fully realize the danger he would be getting into if he said “yes” to joining her mission, and maybe he would be slower to realize that even if they did save the day, that his mom would probably still be punished for helping to found the Coven in the first place.
Even if sex didn’t lessen the blow for him, at least, it would be nice for her to literally pound out the stress that had been building up in her body for the past two days.
Right now, just the thought of telling Calix about the Coven and his reaction to the information about his mother was causing her heart to pound as if it was trying to burst out of her chest and her hands were becoming so sweaty that she kept dropping her charcol, making a dusty mess all over her pants.
She hated dealing with emotional crisis as much as she hated small talk. The blubbering was impossible to understand and she never quite knew what to do when the other person looked at her with snot and tears running down their face, looking for an answer to solve all their problems that she just didn’t have.
That wasn’t too say she completely avoided crying people. She had dealt with it before like when she had to comfort Aziz during their first year at Auradon Prep when the homesickness and culture shock turned out to be a lot more... shocking then they had thought it would be.
Or sometimes even Ally if Jordan happened to be the unfortunate one to bump into the British blonde in the middle of one her meltdowns. It still did not make it any easier to handle them at their low points.
Plus there was the physicality factor. Patting the back was awkward, but hugging them tightly was weird. At least for her. The other person always ended up with his or her face pressed against her boobs and while she figured they were too saddened by whatever tragedy that had befallen them to notice where their face was pressed against--she did.
And she did not enjoy getting salty tears and boogers all over her chest. Even if those tears and boogers were from people she loved. No thank you.
The charcoal slipped from her fingers again creating a unattractive black streak down her blue harem pants and rolling noisly around the floor to Calix’s feet.
He smirked at her, eyes crinkling at the edges with those ever-present laugh lines.
Jordan sighed. She would have loved to make an excuse. Take him to a party, make a joke. Anything to keep the atmosphere light in spite of the harsh truth she had to tell him, but at the same time she knew she had to do right by him and held him if he cried.
After all, he was there for her after she had been raped for the first time.
It was one of her first time at a local party in Agrabah. And she had foolishly thought that people were excited to have her because they wanted her to do the usual magic tricks, gaze at her lamp.
Of course, their true intent was to rub her lamp. People were always so grabby. Looking is never enough.
After the event she transported herself to Greece, stopped by his home and demanded sex. She had wanted to to prove to herself that if she could literally sleep it off, that it didn’t matter to her.
Her faulty thinking was that it would be good practice for the worst case scenario where she did get a master. Not all masters would be as kind as Aladdin. And she was a genie, she was expected to grant the three wishes. Those any three wishes even if she didn’t like them. Including sexual favors.
She kept repeating to herself that this was preparation. That this would be what her life was going to be like. If she got raped, move on.
Yet the moment Calix smiled at her and moved to kiss her neck. She broke down crying.
His smile reminded her of the leering gaze of the people who looked at her golden cuffs with the opportunistic glint of a snake. His touch was a remembrance that people saw her as much of a vessel as her lamp. They could rub her and hold her in any way they wanted. She was just a pretty object to possess.
And he assured her that she wasn’t. That just because people had treated her kind as wishing machines with no feelings or autonomy of their own, it didn’t mean she should have to deal with it or that she should follow tradition and feel “meant” to do it. She was as much of a person as anyone else and he and many others would happily go to jail for murder if someone tried to take advantage of her again.
The he offered to go to jail that night if she gave them the names and the faces. Well he would go after she felt better and after he called Aladdin and Jasmine arrived.
She refused his offer of homicide, but he made a night that was so disastrously awful and traumatic just a little bit better.
He did that for her, and while she wanted to keep him smiling, she wasn’t going to begrudge him the need of comfort just because it made her feel awkward.
“...And then boom! She popped out a dragon tail like Madam Mim and we had sex on the gold she had taken from Merlin.
Jordan did a double-take, “What? Morrian’s part dragon? Oh Allah, has she met Mal? There cannot be two part fae, part dragon people here! Wait? Merlin has a gold pile?”
Calix raised a sardonic eyebrow signalling that he had caught onto her wandering mind and had decided to shock her back to reality.
“Uh yeah. Sorry I haven’t been listening. It’s just that...okay. I’m going to get right to it. Calix, your Mom is trying to get off the Isle by teaming up with super-evil villains.”
Calix shrugged, “I know.”
“What!”
“Beast deigned to allow mom and I to video chat. Since cutting virtual communication between a mother and child is just inhumane. You know, compared to physically cutting us away from each other.” Calix snarked.
“Oh. I thought you-” Jordan stammered.
“As for her getting off the Isle plan? I wouldn’t say Morgaine Le Fey is super evil. But she’s told me that she has told me that she is figuring out a way to get off the Isle. I guess it’s not right to be sneaking off the Isle, but it wasn’t right that she was sent there either.”
Jordan froze. She hadn’t been expecting at all that Circe had told her son about what she had been planning. But since Calix only mentioned Morgaine Le Fey...she had a sinking feeling that his mom only divulged in part of her plan.
But she also couldn’t help but focus more on how tired Calix voice sounded. He must be exhausted by having to deal with all the sudden questions and rumors that his mom had never changed from her evil sorceress ways, that she deserved to be sent to the Isle with the other scum. As well as just suddenly having to adjust to living on his own.
Sure, he lived with Helen of Troy, but she was a mortal. She didn’t get issues like what is the polite way to turn down Dionysus’s requests to have a chugging contest because it was likely he would need his stomach pumped. Or the urge to do sorcery despite the Magic Ban and the subsequent jail time. Or the sheer frustration of talking to water nymphs. Gods those nymphs were idiots.
Jordan moved to sit next to him, “I agree. I mean I loved your mom. She was more helpful with advice than my own mom. And she was always-”
“There for you if you needed anything. Yet she was also chill and wouldn’t stand for nonsense.” Calix finished with a bitter smile. “Sure, breaking the Isle’s barrier is against the law. But I want her back. Guess that makes me one of the bad guys.”
Jordan slung an arm over his shoulder, inhaling deeply, “You’re not a bad guy. Neither is your mom. But did she tell you she also teamed up with Maleficent, Ursula, the Evil Queen and others to form a Coven of 13?”
Calix looked at her as if she had grown another head. “What?”
Jordan forced herself to look him in the eyes as she delivered the news, “Yes. I heard it straight from FG’s mouth. As well as my mom and dad’s. The villains have their powers back and have been trying to break the barrier.”
Calix stuttered, which made Jordan more uneasy than she would have liked, she had never seen Calix seems so flustered, “Sh-she didn’t tell me that. She didn’t even tell me that she had her powers back.”
Jordan nodded, rubbing his back in what she hoped was in a comforting way, “It’s true. And King Ben wants me to create a team to help stop them.” “You’re leading a team?” Calix let out a slightly hysterical laugh which Jordan hoped was a sign that he was trying to keep calm and he wasn’t going to snap into some sort of psychosis.
“Yes, I am.” Jordan forced herself to keep her voice even and calm, and not reveal how she personally felt that she was too underprepared to lead anyone. Much less save the kingdom.
“And I want you on my team. You’re my number two partner in crime.” Jordan smiled.
That seemed to snap him out of his shocked mood a little bit.
“Number two?” Calix huffed.
“Aziz is coming. You’re regalated to number two partner in crime.” Jordan explained, “Besides if you’re with us, maybe we can convince your mom to help us against the rest of the Coven and so she’ll come back to Auradon as a hero. We all will be heroes if we succeed.”
Calix cracked a small smile, “You can count on me. I’ll be your right hand man.”
“Number two man.” Jordan corrected seeing that it was an appropriate moment to ease back to their usual banter.
“Number two and on your right hand side.” Calix added.
“That’s not how it works.” Jordan shook her head.
“I can be both!”
