I don't think they did it this year but from 2021-2023 Carlos and Lando would spend the week preceding, some of the week after, and the weekend itself of the Brazilian GP sharing an house, playing golf and if my memory serves me correctly, the 22 Brazil house was the catalyst for the Carlos/Isa Lando/Luisa break ups because they both cheated (allegedly with the same woman?)

I'm Not a carlando scholar so all this is what I vaguely remember from hearsay that is about a year old so if anyone wants to come correct me please feel free. But yeah. Carlando Brazil House makes everyone raise their eyebrows a little.

hi liquid i have a very strange ask beware

my friend asked me to make a powerpoint presentation to explain the basics of F1 (like rules, race weekend schedule, etc.) when i asked if she wanted me to include a list of all the 2025 drivers, she said “yes, i need to know name, age, nationality, and which other driver they have a homoerotic relationship with”.

and now i’m spiralling because like which ones do i tell her about?! because obviously there are endless rpf ships between the drivers, but in terms of drivers being actually incredibly weird around each other in real life?? i’m thinking brocedes (obvs) but not sure which other relationships i should analyze for her entertainment.

basically if you have any suggestions i would love to hear them thank you in advance ❤️❤️

HELLO I really wanted to go through and find individual clips but if I’m honest — the state of My City has been hell and it’s taken more out of me than I thought. I hope this is an adequate response even though it’s not up to my usual (neurotic) snuff :(

Ok so obviously there are a million ships, but I think there are two main categories: those who are compelling based predominantly on Lore™️, and those based around their F1 behavior specifically.

For the Lore, the obvious choices are:

1. Brocedes

There’s so much here…. Nico’s inability to eat anything but their favorite cereal before the deciding race of 2016. The theme of yellow in their helmets (started in karting, Nico ditched the yellow when their relationship when sour, Lewis has retuned to the yellow now that he’s left the team where they fell apart). The story of them on keke’s yacht, promising to make it to f1 together. Them sneaking out for ice cream ((Nico’s wife now having a vegan ice cream brand.)). You could analyze this for years. Years.

2. Lestappen

Though all these fuckers have raced each other for ages, Charles and Max are weird in how often their paths intersected despite not always racing in the same category. One that specifically comes to mind is Max recommending Charles for the seat that he left open when he moved up the ranks; this vocal awareness of and respect for his craft is brought up often when people show them racing wheel to wheel.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the second category, too:

1. Maxiel

it’s objectively INSANE how often Max and Daniel joked about making out. Like at some point — AT SOME POINT — you have to wonder why they’re both so comfortable with that bit, right? Beyond their weird behavior, their dynamic is extra interesting when you consider that Daniel was Max’s first Red Bull teammate: he was almost too young for f1, a bit socially odd, terrifyingly talented, and yet here’s this gregarious man that laughs at everything he says (yet has to remain wary of his threatened career)…. Formative experience.

2. Carlando

This one fascinates me threefold. First of all, there’s their online history. Baby baby baby Lando was constantly in Carlos’s comments and mentions as he moved up through the ranks — he clearly idolized him. To the second point: baby rookie Lando has him as his fucking teammate. Young and naïve, giggly and infatuated Lando got so close with Carlos so quickly, it’s almost nauseating. And then after they were no longer teammates!!!! Carlos is still one of the first people he seeks out to celebrate with (Singapore 2023 hug, forever famous,,,) he goes out to dinner with his FAMILY (Mexican gp 2024,,,,), it’s insane.

They’re clearly still so connected to each other despite no longer having any formal ties — they can’t break their orbit. (Also, why did we stop talking about Brazil 2023 when they rented a house together and everyone’s pretty sure they cheated either with each other or the same model????? Hilarious)

3. Landoscar

This one is fun to analyze for the progression and the new dynamic it presents. Lando’s always been the junior teammate despite being the number one driver — and he acted accordingly. But now he’s in a leadership position after a weird inter-term implosion, and it’s just Some Guy??????? But the way they warm up to each other, the way Oscar starts to understand how to read Lando during their PR videos, THE HESITANCY AND DELICACY OF ONE OF THEIR FIRST TOUCHES (Silverstone fan stage 2023), the way that they allude to their private interactions without ever actually showing them????????

They’re infatuating to analyze in the same way that a Victorian romance is — the details are so small and drawn out that it makes everything feel heightened, scandalous.

4. Piarles

The TRUE childhood friends to lovers angle is criminally underrated in this fandom; we get an approximation from so many of the drivers, since they all grew up racing, but Charles and Pierre went on family vacations together. Pierre calls Charles nicknames that no one else does. He constantly brings him up in interviews, they’re always gossiping before races, they hang out at private events in the off season!!!!!!!

It’s further compelled, I think, when you consider the different level of notoriety they have. Pierre is often out of the spotlight, he has nowhere near the cult following that Charles has garnered. When it comes to someone you’ve known and loved your entire life, how do you deal with that, you know????

the first formula 1 rpf i Ever read was Your fic where carlos n lando move to madrid. which i later found out had previous parts but was an absolute masterpiece as a stand-alone too. but i was very new to everything so i kinda thought that carlos’ character was portrayed differently for the sake of the fic. but then i figured that it’s a pattern in most carlando fics where carlos is rlly protective of lando. bc current carlos is loud at times roughhouses w charles…goes to another planet in the middle of smth. but mclaren’s carlos was Not like that. he was Always so attentive and Present for lando you would not think they were teammates. that one video where lando rushes to kick the ball and carlos’ immediate reaction is “don’t injure yourself”. That was real and that’s really how carlos has always been with lando. there’s a few interviews where lando is upset at his performance and carlos is just like no ! it was good don’t say that and that is so sweet. and so the point of this LONG RANT is that after immersing myself in the lore i figured that you write these two characters brilliantly and perfectly and you should not stop writing 😭 sorry this is so long my god i’ve been wanting to say this for a while

I don't even know where to start with this because it is so much in the best way. So, first of all, thank you and I'm so glad you have enjoyed my fics ❤️❤️❤️. And what a fic to jump in on too 😅. Any time someone tells me they think my characterization is good, I genuinely get a bit emotional. Don't worry, I have no intention of stopping anytime soon (much to the detriment of my professional life).

But yeah, they were insane in their interactions as teammates. I would argue he and Lando also very much bantered/rough-housed with each other as well, especially into 2020. But yeah, he and Charles will never be as close in their interactions and how they intrinsically treat one another as Carlos and Lando did on the same team. Even though we don't get a whole lot of joint video content of the two of them anymore, I think you do still snee that kind of jokey/banter/lovingly fond attitude between the two of them. The first things that comes to mind are the "Box of Bluffs" video they did back in Australia this year, the reinactment they did in Qatar 2021 of their Brazil 2021 contact, and even the little video Lando filmed of Carlos golfing in Singapore this year.

I'll tell you how they told the audience what happened: Carlos and Lando had a mini incident during Interlagos 2021, and Rubens said in the post-race broadcast that they had canceled their post-race plans and mentioned that they were having "a lot of fun" that week in Brazil. Afer the race, Carlos went to a party at Rubens' house and Lando flew straight to Qatar. A few days later, people found a photo of Carlos with two models who had been at the party (the model who posted it deleted when it started going viral), and soon a story emerged that Carlos had cheated on Isa in Brazil. People forgot the story until July, when reporter Mari Becker mentioned during FP that Lando had learned a few words in Portuguese through his girlfriend, and then Felipe Giaffone mentioned that Carlos might also know a few words in Portuguese because he was dating a brazilian woman. Felipe's son, Nic, was also on that trip with Carlando and told Felipe that Carlos had hooked up with Pietra, but told it in a way that Felipe thought they were a couple, as he didn't know that Carlos was actually dating Isa (the only wag they know in Brazil is Kelly). Okay full disclaimer this is not my area of expertise so someone who is more knowledgeable please come in and correct me.

Brazil 2021, for the Brazilian GP that year around Lando's bday, Lando and Carlos get an airbnb together (rather than...you know...staying in their hotels with their respective teams–Carlos is already with Ferrari by this point!) and spend the week going out for dinners and playing golf. Then, in the actual race, they have an incident, they have an argument, Lando leaves Brazil early, cutting plans with Carlos short.

Also Brazil 2021 is allegedly when both of them cheated on their then-partners. Some people say with the same girl? But I couldn't find proof of it so take that with a grain of salt.

Oh, it appears Carlos and Lando might have shared a house for Brazil 2022 and Brazil 2023 as well, with all the same golf and dinner shenanigans.

Like I said, every driver's got allegations, you're just got to know where to look.

so...so many...oh my goodness... but since i'm in a "how good it feels to be needed" mood, let's talk about it. (n*sfw ahead)

We know our boys love being intimate with one another, but I think this universe is them at their absolute dirtiest and filthiest. I aged them up for it so both Lando and Carlos have a lot more experience in their lives. They've also been pining and been in close quarters for the better part of a year. I think it's different than irl/a world alone, where yes of course they pined until like Brazil but they were also VERY distracted with other things. Whereas in hgiftb, Carlos is LITERALLY in Lando's space, in his home, cooking his food, caring for his needs. It's incredibly intimate, incredibly familiar. Which means when they do have sex, they are very vocal about their needs - Lando in particular, who trusts Carlos with his fucking life, and knows that Carlos would never judge him for anything.

They're packing to go to Spain when Lando says it the first time. They've only been together for a week. Carlos is running through the list he made of things they need to pack. He's walking around, shirtless, wearing nothing but sweatpants and house slippers. He's letting his beard grow out, now that he knows Lando really likes it (also because the morning after they first had sex, Carlos asked Lando for clippers and he refused to tell Carlos whether he had any), and his hair is still a little disheveled from sleep.

"Dios mio, vas a matarme," Carlos says, casting his eyes heavenward. And then, "Lando? What are you wanting from me right now, eh?"

Lando smirks to himself, then looks at Carlos, all innocence. "I don't know why you think I want anything. Other than to call you daddy. Daddy."

"Because it seems to me that you want me to lose my mind," Carlos says, his voice slightly more desperate. But his eyes are all want, all need. Lando pushes away the urge to moan. Instead, he sets down the t-shirt he has been folding, walks over to Carlos, runs his hands over his boyfriend's perfect, broad chest, and says, "And what would happen if I asked you to lose your mind?"

Lando sinks to his knees, pulling Carlos' sweatpants down with him. He takes Carlos' cock in his mouth, just the head, letting him harden between his lips. Carlos lets out a shaky breath. Then he rakes his fingers through Lando's curls.

"We will miss our flight. Yes, I know it is tomorrow. But I would not be done with you even if we had another week."

Opinion on carlando’s relationship

Many thoughts.

They're absolutely wonderful teammates. I don't think I've seen any other pair engage in a full out prank war, seen any other driver pairing trust each other enough to cut the other's hair, or trust each other enough to be so close even outside of races. For example, going shopping and getting ready for gala's at each other's houses.

Carlos constantly gives Lando encouragement, in a way you don't see with other teammates. They joke, mess around, and are comfortable enough to be honest with each other. They prioritize team development over rivalry and it works so well.

It doesn't matter if you see them together on McLaren Unboxed or in press interviews or on their personal insta story's, they always seem close. You could see it when they'd draw over their photos on the fancards adding silly horns or mustaches to the pictures, or when Carlos begged Lando to let him cut his hair on insta live, or when Carlos hugged Lando in Brazil because his teammate was still so supportive of him even if Lando's own race hadn't worked out as well.

Coming back from Brazil, standing in front of the entire staff of the MTC, Carlos took Lando's hand and raised both of their hands in the air, as if to say we are in this together. Lando back in July (during a McLaren challenge) said "You're my best friend! Did we just become best friends?" I think back then they were still getting to know each other.

I think it's true now, about them being best friends.

Like Carlos said, they're Batman and Robin. They need to go together.
