Kind of curious that they specifically showed Amethio and Onyx's main Pokemon lines in this episode (or at least their first stages). It always stood out a bit to me that they are the only ones in the Explorers who have gen 9 Pokemon as their main partners. Kyojiohn and Soublades are even next to each other in the Pokedex (Kyojiohn's line is listed first, before Soublades's).
Raifort and Friede mentioned the past in regards to these Pokemon, which also made me think about how Onyx's second Pokemon is a Ptera (who is a prehistoric Pokemon).
We got a glimpse of Kojio and Carbou's personalities, which also reveals a lot about both Amethio and Onyx imo. Carbou is a Pokemon who accompanied nobility and knights, which is self-explanatory when it comes to Amethio since his character is very much knightly. His two Pokemon are associated with knights and Amethio himself is chivalrous and always tries to be honorable when it comes to battles.
Kojio was also interesting. The small scene he was featured in showed that Kojio is kind (easily approachable and not scared of humans, let Liko pat him) and helpful and protective (used to help humans perform rituals such as exorcism). Kind, helpful and protective are adjectives which really fit Onyx imo. We've seen Onyx protect others (mostly Sango) multiple times by now. His recent battle against Chili in HZ055 also showed that he has values as he didn't want to sacrifice his teammate for a victory, and went down protecting his tag partner's Pokemon.
Also, the part about Kojio helping humans perform exorcism rituals makes me wonder if it has to do with the fact that Kojio's line is known as the Rock Salt Pokemon and how salt is believed to have purifying powers and to keep evil spirits away in Japanese culture. Which, in turn, gives an additional layer of depth to Sango and Onyx's dynamics since Sango's main Pokemon is Onigohri (who is based on oni, demon). Sango and Onyx's Pokemon fit each other on a thematic level too.
#pokemon horizons#amethio#onyx#pokemon onyx#sango#lots of interesting stuff piling up with amethio and onyx tbh#and it's neat the level of detail put in sango and onyx's duo even when it comes to their pokemon#hz057#character notes#episode notes

quick summary of this month's PokeSpe SWSH, courtesy of Dogasu!
Violet is getting closer to the Star-Dan’s Team Schedar base as wave after wave of grunts attack the young Trainer. The battles end up providing valuable experience for Violet’s Pokémon – they even enable his Mamebata to evolve into Exleg – but they’re starting to test Violet’s patience. He discovers the Star-Dan has a wanted poster of him out and so he comes up with a plan to trick them. Over on the base itself, meanwhile, Scarlet has arrived and finds a way to sneak in to have a face-to-face meeting with Meloco. Scarlet rejects the bodyguard job offer she was contacted about and then reminds Meloco of just how much better the Star-Dan was a year ago. Also, didn’t there used to be a bunch of Carbou on this base…? On her way out, Scarlet overhears some grunts talking about Violet’s approach and so she searches the area until she finds him. She asks Violet, who’s now wearing an academy uniform so he can pass under the Star-Dan’s radar, to hand over his Miradon, promising she’ll return it once she’s located the Calamitous Pokémon. When he doesn’t immediately hand it over she uses her Tamantula to tie him up then and takes it by force. Nelke and then Nemo catch up with Violet, free him, and wonder what to do about this Scarlet character. Later , in the Roast Desert, Peper is eagerly waiting for Violet to return when he hears his Miraidon approach. But who’s this riding on its back…?
#pokemon special#pokespe#that is such a cool pic of means back#should I switch up the Japanese terms to english?

Did… Did thou just “give information that may lead to loss of Team Rocket funding?” As in hitting the machines for someone to earn coin? Which could lead to defunding?
Tch, you are a fool, Knave.
@winterlash-of-rocket
I have been asked if the game corner machines can be made to paid out and told it would help Team Rocket. Is this information I could give out?
Do not provide any information that may lead to loss of team rocket funding. Goodluck

Armarouge (Or Gurenarma, in Japan) is a Pokémon! It's a Fire / Psychic type that evolves from Charcadet (Carbou)! Charcadet can also evolve to Ceruledge (Soulblades), which is a Fire / Ghost type! Charcadet is a pure Fire type :]

Charcadet
Ceruledge
that's some really cool character design !!!

Eat Brain podcast/mix.
youtube
Forum which just so happened to include blowing my mind (and not collectively). experimental styles & even giving unknown (to myself) a consideration. Always. Be. Looking. For new, not beaten into the ground like most of us typically do... It's also why I've a lot more just playlists of this same underrated hot 'ish to go even further in the Search!
Reaching out to TCM: Julien & later Yan on X/Insta to get even more engrossed in their works. Future included.
It was all interconnected. (Partially I could tell there was some similar production notes sprinkled about Opsen, Clamps & Deerhill's solo type releases; which is why I'm still gushing over the intuition), and still highly recommend checking out all their projects, works, etc. similar to those around their massive gravitational weight in influences.
youtube
The Clamps & Opsen who are typically both: Burr Oak, but with SKS the trio goes by the Forum moniker.
In their words similarly described:
"The Clamps, SKS, and Opsen each bring their own unique production style to the Forum project." -- https://soundcloud.com/forum_music
"A 3rd colonization?"
Deerhill & the Clamps (minus, SKS & Opsen) created Third Colony Music; TCM was created as a means to help their DIY approach to production. Additionally being a haven for other artists.
Collaboration soon took shape in further supporting degrees. Even in the form of the Clamps brother releasing a more electric Jazz style under Thomas Carbou (Julien's the clamps real last name)
"Third Colony as musical project and label is born with the meeting between Yan (living in Montreal, Canada) & Julien (from Toulouse, France) with the mutual goal to create electronic music how we think it should be: deep, emotional, inspiring, beyond genre-boundaries."
3️⃣🧑🧒🧒🎼
Forum could also be looked at as an 3rd/additional extension of what is Third Colony Music, Kosen and even Eat Brain have benefited from this.

Some character notes and episode notes for HZ057, writing them down for future reference.
The episode starts with the RVTs eating at a restaurant to celebrate the kids passing their basics test. Murdock gets emotional thinking back about Dot's battle and how brave she was, and she thinks he is exaggerating a bit since they all haven't completed their courses yet. Nice moment for Murdock and Dot since now, Murdock openly cries and gets emotional about Dot around others when the last few times he just teared up (HZ039 and HZ040) and didn't full on cry, and he didn't do it around others that much. Dot also is slowly accepting that side of him and more comfortable about that affection. It was also cute how they sat next to each other during lunch. Either way, Liko also showed a cool moment of growth since she was openly happy about seeing everyone again and told Orio that they'd all pass their Terastal course by the time they come back. She is growing more confident. Friede told everyone he made an appointment to see Clavell and Omoaka at Orange Academy (he forgot to tell them).
At school, Friede meets Clavell and Omodaka with the trio. Omodaka follows Friede's work as a professor so they know him. Clavell and Omodaka find out about Terapagos and it was their first time seeing one. They explain a few things about Terapagos. Terapagos has a deep connection to Terastal, and is believed to have three forms (the usual form, the one Terapagos transforms into during battle like in HZ033, and another one depicted in the Scarlet Book that we've yet to see in the anime but that was apparently seen at Area Zero). Omodaka wonders why Terapagos returned now, and Liko explains he wants to go to Rakua, which Omodaka has never heard of. Roy suggests going to Area Zero but Clavell explains that entering will be difficult since there was an accident there. Omodaka tells everyone she'll accompany them there someday and also knows someone who knows a lot about the past so Liko and the others can ask this person (Raifort).
At the school library, Friede praises Dot for finding the Scarlet Book and she explains that it's thanks to Terapagos. Friede is interested in the mysteries growing deeper and so is Dot (she says that she finds this stuff interesting, and she also reacted to Raifort later in the ep about something similar so there is something with Dot and her interest in mysteries and solving them). Liko looks pensive for a moment and Roy and Dot immediately pick up on her feelings. Liko feels like she doesn't know much about Terapagos but Roy tells her she does know a lot after observing him (Terapagos likes berries and climbing up to high places). That was a cute moment (Roy reassured her and reminded her of how she watched over Terapagos a lot) and a very Roy-like reaction. Raifort meets up with the group and introduces herself as a history teacher. She showed up with her Zoroark, who likes pranks (she transformed into Terapagos and Cap and jumped on Friede too).
Raifort leads the group outside for a treasure hunt. Rakua has heard of Rakua, which was mentioned in a niche history book. Before she can elaborate, they all hear a Collecurei and the treasure hunt begins. Roy is excited about it. They all look for coins. Terapagos spots the ruins of a fort and they all head there (minus Roy). They meet a Carbou and Kojio and Raifort and Friede explain a few things about these Pokemon (Carbou accompanied nobility and knights, and Kojio helped humans perform exorcism rituals). Why did they specifically show the baby forms of Amethio and Onyx's Pokemon though. Either way, Terapagos befriended Carbou, which was cute (Terapagos really can make friends with anyone quickly). Raifort explains that Carbou and Kojio lived there since ancient times and formed connections with humans, which Dot found interesting. Afterwards, Roy showed up with a bunch of coins he found (he was controlled by Collecurei to find them).
Raifort also tells Liko and the others about what she heard about Rakua (that it's a Pokemon paradise, far beyond Paldea etc). Rakua was described as shining pink, which Friede links back to the Rakurium. Raifort says that everyone dismissed the story as a fairy tale and that barely anyone knows about it anymore, but she chooses to believe that story. She explains some Paldea history too (that the land was once part of the Paldean empire and before that, another kingdom entirely etc). She encourages Liko and the others to think about the past and imagine it. Liko pictures Lucius and Terapagos together as she sees Terapagos climbing up the tower (I think it was supposed to be her vision of it) (Lucius is too pretty). Raifort tells the kids that learning about the past is an adventure on its own, and tells them to do their best. By the way, Raifort uses "kisama" which reminded me of Colza (what's up with them both using "kisama" to refer to others ww). Friede thanks Raifort, and she tells him that she wanted to teach the children of the future how fun learning about the past can be.
At the end, Liko and the others get their next Gym Leaders assignments for their implementation tests. Dot will face Aoki (and she'll be the first one of the trio to take on her test and doesn't want to run away from it now). Roy will face Rhyme (which was expected) and Liko will face Grusha (she seems a bit nervous when she remembers his words). Onyx and Sango also showed up in this scene and Sango was a delight as usual (also them showing up means they both passed their tests too). She complained about their implementation test being basically the same thing as their basics test since they're going to have to face a Gym Leader again (it's funny that she points it out). She was yawning and it made me think of HZ046 when Onyx said that someone overslept and that's why they were both late... seems like Sango is the type who likes to sleep in, which is a cute detail to know about her. Onyx and Sango also had fun banter as usual. Anyway, each side will use two Pokemon for the implementation test battle (which makes me wonder if Sango has a second Pokemon?). Dot is a bit worried about Kanuchan. Liko is excited to know more about Terastal because it'll make her learn more about Terapagos.
This ep was written by Kureha Matsuzawa btw and his last ep was HZ054.
