Couscous that slaps

So preface

I don't usually prefer the rounder morrocan couscous I really prefer the tiny sand like grains of Israeli couscous esp with a poached egg on top or with shakshuka but this needs the size of the pearled couscous.

You need some Almonds

A chicken bouillon cubes

The couscous

Onion, garlic powder

Black pepper

And to be fancy Saffron

If you aren't making the fancy Glaze separate add a dash of lemon/lime juice and pomegranate with some honey

Plus disregard for measurements and a soul to judge your portions with.

Roughly chop up those almonds, not that fine silvered nonsense, we want some crunch

Toast those in a pan on med-low with your couscous, tossing often so nothing burns and you feel fancy like a chef

When toasted throw in the chicken cube, your oil of choice (I highly rec butter or duck fat for that Richness), onion/garlic powder, pepper and a few saffron threads-like 3-4

Toss those up in the melted oil for a quick second

Panic as you forgot to get the water (don't use stock if you're using a bullion cube and vice versa) get the water enough to cover the couscous by like half an inch. Eyeball it

Simmer until fully cooked, you want those almonds to get a bit stewed.

Serve couscous hot

Delicious

Or mix in Fancy glaze to be described in the next post
