Speckled calf sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations. Very limited editions with only ten per size printed. All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm) The A4 are 8.25" x 11.7" (21cm x 29.8cm) The A3 are 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) The A2 are 16.5" x 23.4" (42 cm x 59.4cm) Originals are A3 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) Frames not included in price. Free shipping on artwork to all destinations. https://www.seanbriggs.co.uk/product/speckled-calf/?feed_id=5477&_unique_id=6735a7a3a17be

Colour, largely random
Drew some of my @drawingisfree_org portraits today using coloured pencil (all three shown) and some Caran d’Ache water-soluble crayons (added to the second and third drawings). Kept adding colour to the second one, top right, after the session was over, to see how far I could push it. There is of course only one way that mode of inquiry can end. The others were done within the musically defined limits of the session, each completed in the course of a single track.

John doodle from the car yesterday + this morning.
I’ve been playing around with my design for him. I drew him last night with some new caran d’ache crayons so I’ll have to review that to decide if it will ever see the light of day.
I’ll probably end up drawing him for my birthday so keep an eye out for that ig??

Fluffbruary
February 18:   recovery   |   flight   |   film
Caran d’Ache Neocolor Pastels & Derwent pencil (Chinese white) on black paper
Tumblr media
Been thinking about my first attempt of working on black paper a lot, and how I approached it all wrong, and the ways in which to fix that. This was an exercise in patience, but I’m so much happier with this second try!
Black paper is now just straight up code for angst. Sorry about that.
Hit the Fluffbruary tag to see the other days in the challenge and check out @fluffbruary for MORE FLUFF
This is my RedBubble Shop, for anyone interested.

Billiver Billivin, beloved alchemist—and wizard, cleric, sorcerer, and bard.
Notes, lines, markers, and materials under the cut~
Building out his mess of classes gave me a better idea of his characterization and aesthetics, so I wanted to update my design for him—most notable is the bladed scarf, and I put his veils into a set of four knotted ones around his waist instead of letting them hang loose, both nods to Sivanah—though I couldn’t resist giving him another set of four that flutter around him. The ring I gave him as his bonded object is sadly hidden by the bomb he’s carrying, which he’s perhaps forgotten about…
In an amusing turn of events, he turned out incredibly good at alchemy, so I’ve decided his potions miss the mark because he’s insistent upon mixing up fresh batches when needed and thus rushing his work for his customers.
The potions &c. along the side I took from Ultimate Equipment, and of course I had to include his “world-famous” tonic!
The marker layer is the first bit of coloring I do, then colored pencils for the skin and acrylic ink to touch up the markers.

Not sure I used enough colors in this one… ; p
Faber-Castell graphite pencils, Caran d’Ache Luminance colored pencils, Sakura Pigma Micron pens, Tombow dual brush pens, Daler-Rowney FW acrylic ink.
