Why I love car seat headrest

Car seat headrest are one of those bands that just feel so familiar to me, like a close friend you see every once in a while, you could go months even years without seeing them and then you can just start exactly where you left off. Every now and again I'll rediscover a song by the band that I love I end up falling in love all over again with their music.

Recently that song has been There Must Be More Than Blood, which is about finding meaning in existence and finding out who you are as people and how being with someone completes you as a person: "there must be more than blood that holds us together, there must be more than wind that blows us away" in my mind that means you and I are one in the same were both incomplete as people but we complete eachother.

But the more and more I go into their discography the more I discover that there is so much passion put into every single line and every single lyric fits, yes a lot of their songs are about love and the lack of it in people's lives and how relationships are complicated and scary, that's what all of Twin Fantasy is about, every day I find myself relating to the lyrics of Beach-life-in-death more and more, themes of misunderstandings, fear of dissaproval, not wanting to move too quick or too slow, the fear of loss and heartbreak.

As a queer and trans person myself I feel so attached to a lot of car seat headrests lyrics, about being a confused outsider who doesn't quite understand their self and who doesn't know how to express their feelings to the people they love. It speaks to me like no other band and I'm eternally grateful for them.
