Windscreen Repair: The Importance of Timely Fixes for Safe Driving
Understanding Windscreen Damage
Windscreen damage typically falls into two categories: chips and cracks. Chips are small pits or indentations caused by rocks or other debris hitting the windscreen. They are often no larger than a coin and are usually localized. Cracks, on the other hand, are more severe, with lines extending across the glass that can worsen over time.
Different types of cracks include:
Bullseye: Circular cracks caused by direct impact.
Star Breaks: Multiple cracks radiating from a central point.
Combination Breaks: A mix of chips and cracks.
While chips can often be repaired quickly, cracks are more serious and may require a complete windscreen replacement if left untreated.
The Dangers of Ignoring Windscreen Damage
Driving with a chipped or cracked windscreen poses several risks. windscreen repair Firstly, it compromises your visibility. Even a small chip can refract light in unexpected ways, creating glare or blind spots that obstruct your view. This is especially dangerous when driving at night or in adverse weather conditions.
Secondly, a damaged windscreen weakens the structural integrity of your vehicle. The windscreen supports up to 30% of a vehicle's structural strength during a rollover accident. If compromised, it may not hold up under pressure, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.
Another concern is the spread of cracks. Temperature changes, road vibrations, and even minor impacts can cause small cracks to expand rapidly. What starts as a minor issue can quickly turn into a major problem that requires a complete windscreen replacement.
Benefits of Timely Windscreen Repair
Timely repair of windscreen damage offers several benefits:
Cost-Effectiveness: Repairing a chip is significantly cheaper than replacing the entire windscreen. Many insurance policies even cover the cost of repairs with little to no out-of-pocket expense.
Safety: A repaired windscreen restores your vehicle’s structural integrity and ensures clear visibility. You can drive with peace of mind knowing that your car is safe and secure.
Time-Saving: Repairs are quick, often taking less than 30 minutes. On the other hand, a full replacement can be more time-consuming and may require additional calibration of sensors and cameras in modern vehicles.
Environmentally Friendly: By repairing instead of replacing, you contribute to reducing waste. A windscreen is mostly made of glass and plastic layers, which take time to decompose in landfills.
When to Repair or Replace Your Windscreen
It’s essential to act promptly when you notice any windscreen damage. mobile windscreens near me Generally, chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than three inches can be repaired. However, if the damage is directly in the driver’s line of sight or if the crack extends to the edges of the glass, replacement is often recommended.

10 Common Symptoms of a Bad Heater Matrix
The heater matrix may sound like it belongs in a nuclear power plant, but it's actually an essential component of your car. Therefore, if it starts to cause issues, this list of bad heater core symptoms should make it easier for you to identify the issue.
It is in charge of warming the passenger compartment and bringing about a cosy and comfortable atmosphere on chilly days. Without it, the driving experience would not only be incomplete but also, in some situations, impossible.
The following are 10 faulty heater matrix symptoms:
1.Low Coolant Level Constantly - This is the first and most obvious sign of a defective heater matrix. As you can see, the heater matrix is a connected and integrated component of the cooling system. The heater core is filled with the same coolant that circulates throughout the system. Keeping this in mind, the coolant level will decrease if the heater matrix is damaged (i.e., leaking). At first, it won't be evident at all, but as the leak gets bigger, you'll need to periodically replenish coolant. One more justification for establishing a routine for check-ups. You'll undoubtedly be able to identify the issue quickly. If this happens, search online for vehicle service near me garages and make an appointment as soon as you can with a mechanic to avoid further damage.
2.Frequent Coolant Loss – Adding a little coolant once or twice a year is fine but adding it monthly or more indicates a problem. Keep in mind that other factors, such as a pierced radiator, ruptured coolant hose, a loose clamp, or anything else, may also contribute to coolant loss. You should check the heater matrix as soon as you can if the rest of the system appears to be operating normally following inspection. Find car garages in Reading online and schedule an appointment for your vehicle with a skilled mechanic.
3.Engine Overheating - If the issue is left untreated, coolant loss will eventually result in engine overheating. Simply put, a less efficient system is one with less coolant. The problem will eventually reach the point of overheating, but if you pay attention, it won't. A damaged heater core typically begins with a small leak that might linger for weeks or even months. The leak, though, might suddenly become a coolant deluge if it is ignored. You might have noticed the coolant odour, a higher temperature reading on the thermometer, coolant vapours, or wet carpets prior to this. There will be plenty time to react and identify indicators of a bad heater core. An overheating engine could also result in an emissions test to fail on your next MOT. If you are curious on previous MOT test failure reason, go online and complete a MOT history checker. Avoid reaching this stage at all costs because the engine will suffer severely from overheating. In more extreme situations, it may even result in a warped cylinder head or an engine overhaul. One additional significant point worth emphasising in this section is that, as long as you supply enough coolant and the leak is manageable, you can drive with a bad heater matrix. You can set the heating regulator too cold if the leak occurs in the summer. This minimises or stops coolant loss by separating the heater matrix from the rest of the cooling system. This is only useful if you have to drive a car in an emergency and for short distances and don't need the cabin to be heated. In the winter, you'll need to find a solution quickly because the car won't be much use.
4.Wet Carpets and Floor Panels with Coolant - We now reach one of the most obvious signs of a bad heater matrix. You see, coolant that is lost must be replaced. The heater matrix is typically found inside the passenger compartment of vehicles (near or under the central console). The typical scenario as a result is that coolant drops over the carpets, floor insulation, and finally permeates the floor panels. Everything will eventually become coolant saturated. If you don't enjoy cleaning the inside of your vehicle, this symptom may go unnoticed for a while. If so, you'll undoubtedly notice the wet vehicle mats' undersides. Get your car to a mechanic as soon as you can by looking online for garages in Reading. In addition, you can tell you have a damaged heater matrix if you rub the carpet underneath and acquire a sticky, sweaty coating on your fingers. Of course, water and snow entering the car through your feet can also cause wet car mats and carpets, but they usually dry up relatively fast and don't smell. The car mats are always going to be damp when there is a poor heater matrix issue. It's crucial to catch this symptom as soon as possible. The only option is to disassemble portions of the interior and remove everything that is wet from within when the insulation and carpets become saturated with coolant. This is a labour-intensive and time-consuming task that typically involves removing trim, breaking a variety of clips, removing the car seats, etc. Additionally, everything needs to be fully cleaned and dried before you come back. In contrast, if you catch these signs of a broken heater matrix in time, a simple dry cloth and a better vacuum cleaner might be able to fix the issue.
5.Poor or Non-Existent Cabin Heating - As was previously mentioned, the heater matrix is in charge of heating the cabin. The assumption is that hot air will be expelled whenever hot coolant starts to flow through it. Air is blasted into the ventilation system and through the core simultaneously by a blower that is mounted behind it. Therefore, if you find that the cabin heating is weaker than usual or, in the worst cases, non-existent, you may have a defective heater matrix. At first, you won't even notice it, but as the problem gets worse, it will finally cease working altogether. This symptom emerges around the end of the issue. You will undoubtedly notice the chilly temperature in the passenger cabin even if you don't notice the wet carpets or low coolant level.
6. The Passenger Cabin Is Cold Even When the Engine Is Hot - Even with a hot engine, the passenger cabin remains cold since the heater core doesn't begin to generate heat until the coolant heats up. Most drivers are aware of this and wait until the engine temperature begins to rise before expecting the heater to start functioning. You typically notice warm air coming from the vents as soon as the engine begins to heat up. However, if the temperature monitor indicates a normal engine temperature and you still feel no hot air flowing from the vents, you may have a heater matrix issue.
7.Constant Smell of Coolant Inside the Cabin - Inside the cabin, there was a persistent fragrance of coolant, which has a distinct sweet aroma. If you've never smelled coolant, simply open the coolant bottle's cap (when the engine is still cold) and inhale, and you'll understand what I mean. Once coolant begins to leak into the passenger compartment, the odour will never go away. You'll probably notice it as soon as you get in the car, even if the engine is cold. The fragrance will be more apparent when the engine warms up. The coolant is beginning to evaporate, which is the cause.
8.Greasy Foggy Film on The Windscreen - One of the poor heater matrix symptoms that are possibly the most dramatic is the presence of a greasy, foggy film on the windscreen. As previously noted, as the engine starts to heat up, the coolant will begin to evaporate through a malfunctioning heater matrix. The ventilation system will likely catch the evaporation. When the ventilation is directed toward the windshield, as it is most often in the winter, coolant vapour will begin to condense as a thin, greasy film or fog. The leak will first be difficult to detect despite being only a little leak. An oily stain and smears will be left on the material if you attempt to clean it. A faint coolant scent will be there along with it. The misty film will be constant during the later period. It will emerge as soon as the car is started. At this point, you need to act to fix the issue. If not, you can encounter a very unpleasant situation. In the final stage, a hot coolant odour and a heavy mist of vaporised coolant may suddenly begin to flow into the passenger cabin. Driving is going to be pretty much impossible in a few minutes. You'll need to stop, shut off the engine, and exit the vehicle as quickly as you can.
9.Cabin Is Foggy All the Time - Every time you leave the car for a few hours, the cabin will be foggy. This is another tell-tale indicator. When you stop the car, turn off the engine, and the ventilation system stops working because of a defective heater matrix, the coolant tends to evaporate and leaves the cabin hazy. Simply put, there is a condensation effect. Remember that there may be other causes for this, such as water leaks into the passenger compartment, so look for any other potential issues. Once more, this is one of the signs of a faulty heater matrix that may be identified by the coolant's sweet aroma. Therefore, a bad heater matrix is likely the cause of a foggy cabin and a coolant stench.
10.Over-pressurised Coolant System - A blocked heater matrix will also cause issues in addition to leaking. It is constructed of a combination of aluminium mesh and small-diameter tubes through which coolant flows, just like the vehicle radiator. These tubes may get clogged over time for a number of causes (using tap water instead of coolant, the build-up of filth inside the system, etc). The system's coolant pressure rises as the heater matrix becomes clogged. If left unattended, it may result in coolant hose cracking, engine overheating, or other problems. A minor engine overheating and a consistent high pressure in the coolant bottle are two signs of a defective heater matrix that indicate this. The coolant bottle is pressurised at all times, but when everything is in order, you won't hear a loud hissing sound every time you open it; instead, you'll hear a brief sound. The cabin heating will cause these symptoms to manifest. You probably won't notice anything if it isn't.

Bravery
Description: Your uncle has to pick you up early from school. A case the BAU is working on lands you in a tough situation.
Characters: reader, the BAU, unnamed officers and school staff
Warnings: non consensual groping, fighting, guns, hostage situation, reader shoots someone for self defense, swearing
Word count: 3.6k
“Hotchner!”
You glance behind you to see the giant teenage boy stomping towards you, fury radiating off of him. He shoves other students aside. Greasy brown hair falls into his face, he doesn’t bother brushing it aside. You roll your eyes, shut your locker, and shoulder your bag. You begin walking away from him, which fuels his self-righteous anger.
“Look at me when I’m talking to you, dumb bitch!”
You keep a straight face, and keep walking the busy halls of the school. Students had started parting like the red sea, not wanting to be bulldozed by the titan toddler throwing a fit. A hand grips your shoulder hard, forcibly turning you around. You come face to face with an acne covered, pissed off linebacker. His breath smells like rotten egg so much so you physically gag.
“Listen here, bitch-” He was cut off by you ramming your knee into his crotch. You rip your shoulder away as he doubles over, clutching his balls. Adjusting your bag with a huff, you whip around and walk away, all the while ignoring the gasps and stares you received in the hallway.
Twenty minutes later, you’re called to the office. You stand up from your desk, grab your things, and march to the office, ready to fight the principal.
“Y/N, have a seat.” Mrs. Huffman, one of the three secretaries, says. Her wrinkles are amplified by the fake smile gracing her cracked lips. You give a curt nod, taking the uncomfortable seat closest to the door. You pull your phone out of your back pocket, opening it up, and mindlessly scrolling through twitter.
‘Y/N,” Your vice principal, Mr. Roberts, starts, exasperation seeping into his voice. You look up from your phone to see him beckoning you into his office. You get up and walking into his office, dreading what he’s going to say.
You sit down in front of his desk, and he takes a seat in his. “Tell me what happened in the hall, Y/N.”
“Tyler grabbed my butt before the period ended. I told him off. The bell rang, I left the classroom. He ran after me and grabbed me again. I kneed him in the crotch so he wouldn’t hurt me.” You explain, unable to keep the underlying anger out of your words.
Mr. Roberts sighs. “You can’t assault other students in the hallway, Y/N.”
“I shouldn’t have defended myself?”
“You shouldn’t resort to violence.”
“I should’ve let it happen?”
“You should’ve waited for a teacher to get involved-”
“So I should’ve let myself get assaulted by someone twice my size without attempting to get myself out of the situation at all?” You challenge once more, anger rising further.
“You’re a good kid, Y/N. You’re the top of your class, you have a bright future, and you have a clean record. Don’t throw it away because another student bothered you.” “Being groped is being bothered.” You deadpan, unable to keep the utter shock out of your voice. “Tell me, Mr. Roberts, has anyone ever grabbed your ass without consent?”
His face hardens at your choice of words. “I’ll let you off with a warning. This won’t go on record. If it happens again, I will suspend you. Your uncle will be here soon to pick you up. You can wait in the office for him.”
You grab your bag, flinging it over your shoulder while you gave him the nastiest look you could muster. Stomping out of the small subsection, you take your previous seat closest to the door. Your leg bounces up and down, your hands shake, and you’re ready to fist fight someone.
It doesn’t take a long time for Aaron to get to your school. His eyes are hard, so is his face. Rain drops fall from his coat as he marches in like a soldier on a mission into the office. His face doesn’t change when he sees you, and he signs you out without a word. You follow him out to the SUV. It’s stormy, rain pounds the sidewalks, and thunder rolls in the distance.
The ride to his work is quiet at first, filled with tension so thick it chokes you.
“I was just defending myself.” You say, eyes locked on the storm in front of you. Aaron’s grip on the wheel tightens, making his knuckles appear white.
“This was the worst possible time, Y/N. I understand that you get annoyed by your peers, but this has to stop.” Aaron tries to make his words even, but exasperation drips off of every letter.
“He grabbed my ass and was going to attack me in the hallway!” You snap, turning to look at him. “Aren’t you always saying that I need to stand up for myself?”
“Not like that. There are better ways-”
“Like what? Letting myself get harassed and not do anything about?” You cut him off, hands still shaking.
“You’re supposed to get an advisor or teacher when this happens.” “Like they’d do anything. They didn’t do anything when Leah was groped in the middle of the gym. They didn’t do anything when Caleb was shoved into a locker after being beat up. They didn’t-”
“That’s enough, Y/N!” It’s his turn to snap. “You used violence when you knew that is against the school’s policy. I understand that you were put into a rough position, but sometimes you have to let it be.”
Knowing that Aaron won’t back down, you make a noise of aggravation and sit back against the seat. As soon as he parks the car, you throw open the door and storm to the building, completely ignoring the rain that gets in your eyes and soaks your clothes.
Security is a breeze to get through; everyone knows you and your bag is almost empty. You’re making your way to the bullpen when someone calls to you.
“Bambina! Why aren’t you in school?” You turn to see Dave pacing towards you carrying a small tray of coffees. He holds his arms out and you step into them gratefully, and he wraps his free arm around you. “What’s the matter?”
“People fucking suck,” You sigh, embracing the older man.
“Language, darling. Care to elaborate?” He asks as you pull away. You sigh, willing your hands to finally stop shaking from anger.
“Some dumb guy grabbed my butt at the end of class. He was going to do more in the hall, so I kneed him in the dick so he didn’t.” Dave cringes, placing his hand on your back while you walk at a slower pace to the larger area of the bullpen.
“Something tells me that isn’t everything.”
“Aaron doesn’t think I should’ve resorted to violence.” You say, some frustration returning to your voice.
It’s Dave’s turn to sigh. “Your uncle only wants the best for you, Bambina. Violence is a great way to get kicked out of school.”
“It was self-defense.” You defend. “The school system doesn’t see it that way.” “Yeah, well the system is a piece of-” “Y/N, what are you doing here?” You and Dave spot Penelope and Derek walking into the bullpen at the same time as you. You open your mouth to say something, but Peneolope beats you to the punch.
“N/N, you look upset.” Penelope gasps, rushing forward, the sound of her heels clicking against the tile floor reverberates throughout the busy bullpen. “Oh, my precious thing, what happened? “This guy grabbed my ass, so I kneed him in the balls, and got excused from school.” You say as she cups your face. This is standard behavior from Penelope, in her words you’re ‘A precious bundle of sunshine that I must protect at any cost because you’re one of the only good things left on this deranged planet.’
“I’m sorry, N/N. Are you okay?” She all but coos.
“I’m fine, just really frustrated.”
“What a scumbag. What happened to him?” Derek asks.
“No idea, but I hope he feels it for a few days.” You scoff. “If he gets off with nothing, I’m gonna be even more furious.”
The murmurs of agreement that spread throughout the small group is swallowed by the sounds of not only the other BAU agents, but regular police officers too. There are at least six officers, and many other FBI officials. “Am I allowed to know what’s going on?” You frown.
“Some stuff with the local PD. Nothing to worry your pretty little head over,” Derek remarks, ruffling your hair to make a point. You smile, batting his hands away. Dave passes out the coffee, and you sit near the group table, pulling out your phone as a distraction. Aaron comes in a moment later.
“Y/N, head up to my office. You don’t need to hear anything about this case.” He says without making eye contact. You don’t respond verbally, only get up, grab your stuff and go to his office. Normally, you’d put up a fight, but you’re barely allowed in the bullpen as is, and you don’t want to sacrifice that privilege.
His office is clean save for the papers littering his desk. You take a seat on the chair behind the desk, and go back to playing on your phone.
It’s not long before an alarm goes off. It’s high pitched and shakes the room. Your hands immediately shield your ears from the screeching noise. Officers and agents alike are scrambling out the door, leaving half the BAU and only four officers left.
One of the officers barks something into a walkie talkie, and the alarm finally shuts off. You relax back into the chair, but keep a watchful eye over the rest of the bullpen.
Within minutes, two new officers have replaced the old ones and are getting in Dave’s face, not trying to hide the fact that they’re arguing about something. Penelope and Spencer are trying to diffuse the situation, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
Then the lights flicker. It starts slow, then gets faster until the lights just give out. The bullpen is now shrouded in darkness, making Aaron’s office pitch black. You’re about to turn on the flashlight on your phone when you hear two loud bangs.
You’ve heard the sound of gunshots before, but that was when your uncle took you to a shooting range in a very controlled environment. Remembering everything Aaron has ever taught you about active shootings, you fall to your knees and hide under the desk. You press you back against the desk, clutching your knees to your chest. Breathing as evenly as you can, you strain your ears for any sound.
Muffled yelling wafts through the air and reaches your strained ears. Two more bangs. The yelling stops. You breathe hitches as tears fill your eyes. Someone is dead, you’re sure of it. Pressing your hand against your mouth, you keep the sounds of your distress at bay.
What feels like hours pass when you hear footsteps coming towards the office. Curling up tighter, you try to make yourself as small as possible. The door is thrown open hitting the wall with a boom. You bite down on your lip, dig your fingernails in the soft flesh of your palm, and hold your breath.
Loud stomps come towards you and stop. “Come out, kid. I know you’re here.” He barks. A few more steps. “You better show yourself or you’ll be sorry.” A couple more steps. Tears begin to fall down your cheeks. Wiping them away, you start to resign yourself to your fate.
Suddenly, the chair is thrown back and your wrist is grabbed. You yelp sharply as your entire body is torn out from under the desk. An arm wraps around your neck, loose enough so you’re able to breathe, but tight enough so you’re unable to get away.
“Listen hard, okay? You’re going to come downstairs and play nicely while we get what we need, understood.” The man’s breath tickles your neck as he speaks, arm tightening around your neck ever so slightly as the other snakes around your midsection.
“Yes,” You say, desperately trying to keep the rest of your tears in your eyes.
He drags you down the stairs. Through the little natural light, you can make out a small huddle of people in the middle of the bullpen. A shove to your back makes you land hard on your knees next to the huddle. Pain spreads up your legs and through you wrists, making you wince. Without much time to react, you’re gathered in someone’s arms. They pull you close to them and begin to whisper.
“It’s okay, Bambina,” It’s Dave, and you want to bawl. You’re supposed to be the tough teenager, not a crying child. All of the adrenaline and anger had faded, leaving you shaking from fear and not indignation. “We’ll get you out of here.”
You can only nod along to the comforting words he whispers. He rubs one hand up and down your back, using the other to press your head against his chest.
Glancing up, you see three officers. All of them wield what look to be rifles and they circling the group like vultures. There’s a pile of cellphones and weapons in the middle of the pile. You shift, confirming that your phone is still in your back pocket, covered by the sweatshirt you stole from Aaron.
Suddenly, there’s a noise reverberating through the room. A generic ringtone, something overly obnoxious. You hold your breath and shift again, trying to feel any vibration. It’s not yours. One of the police officers walks out of the room. The other two get closer to the group, compensating for the loss. Dave tightens the grip he has around you. It’s silent for a few minutes. The only thing in the air is tension. You can barely make out the face of Spencer across the circle. He’s doing that thing where he has to sit still, but he’s busy putting two and two together to solve a case. His eyes dart around the room, his fingers drum on his legs, and he’s mouthing something. JJ sits next to him, a very concerned look etched into her face. Penelope is nowhere to be found.
The sound of weighted footsteps approaches the small circle quickly. The officer that left returns, very infuriated. He holds his rifle close to his side as he once again yanks you to your feet and away from Dave’s protective grip.
You gasp, immediately struggling. Cries of protest rise from the rest of the BAU.
“Take me instead,” Dave demands, standing up. “I’m more valuable than her, you’ll get more of what you want if you have an esteemed FBI agent instead of a civilian."
The officer’s face twists. Without hesitation, he slams the butt onto Dave’s forehead. He crumples to the floor, clutching his now injured head.
You fight tears once again. I need to be strong. I can’t be scared right now. I can’t be scared. I can’t be scared…. Your inner mantra replays in your head as your forced down a narrow hallway, the officer gripping your arm. You walk along with him, breath shallow and tears stuck in your eyes.
But then you notice something.
A smaller handgun sits loosely in a holster attached to his hip. The grip of the gun is hanging out of the holster, almost falling out with each hurried step.
If you could just…
When you turn a corner, he lets go of you. You make your choice in a split second. Surging forward, you grab the grip, turn the safety off, and you pull the trigger. You hit him in the hip just below where a bullet proof vest would be. The you cock the gun and shoot one more time in his thigh.
As soon as the last shot goes you, turn the safety back on, and begin to sprint.
The only advantage you have in this situation is your knowledge. Thanks to Penelope and Kevin giving you a very in depth tour of the place when you first started tagging along with Aaron, you know every nook and cranny on this floor, and the ones above you.
With the help of another rush of adrenaline, you easily sprint down the hallway. All semblance of rational thought left your mind. All that’s left is the instinct to run as far and as fast as you can.
You run until you’ve managed to get up to the top floor of the building. Because of the outage, every door is unlocked, but really heavy. You push the final door with all your might. It doesn’t budge. The blood rushing through you is the only thing that matters, it’s the only thing you hear and the only thing you feel. You give it another shot, using every muscle in your body. There is a loud creak as it finally budges, allowing you to slip inside.
The top floor is the only one you’ve never been in. The little natural light is starting to fade. You need to find a place to hide and find one fast. Jogging down the halls, you find that all of the doors to the offices are closed, and mostly likely locked.
You swear under your breath, stopping at a corner. You hear the loud creak of the door as it’s opened. Fuck.
Your blood runs cold. You don’t wait to listen for footsteps this time, you haul ass down the corridor until you’ve come wide area with a ton of doors. You slam your body against the door next to you while turning the handle. Nothing.
You stumble to the door across from it. Locked as well. You try one last door as you hear footsteps over the blood roaring in your ears.
Finally. This one is unlocked. You fall inside of an empty room, landing on your knees once more. A pained noise slips from your lips, and you freeze. The footsteps are still coming. You kick the door closed and push yourself into a sitting position next to the hinges.
Once again, you press your shaking hands over your mouth. Heavy breaths come out through your nose. You squeeze your eyes shut, a few tears slipping out. You clutch the gun to your chest, slowly taking it off of safety.
At some point during the night’s events, your phone fell out of your pocket. You aren’t sure when, nor are you able to call anyone or tell them you tried your best to stay alive. More tears fall from your eyes.
You’re going to die.
Those fuckers are going to get revenge for their buddy, and you’re going to die.
“Y/N! Y/N are you here?”
What? You stop breathing for a second, that sounds like Derek.
“Y/N!” And that’s Spencer.
You don’t dare move, blink, or breathe as shock envelopes your body.
“Has anyone else found her?” Derek demands, sounding as stressed as ever. “Not yet. Morgan, what if she-” “No, Spencer. Don’t.” Derek’s voice is full of desperation, and mainly fear.
That’s enough for you. You push yourself off the floor with one hand. Opening the door, you get blinded by light. You wince, covering your eyes with your free arm. The bright LED light from their flashlights were a lot to take after not seeing any light for god knows how long.
"Y/N, oh thank God.” Derek breathes out. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I-I don’t know."
"C'mere.” He says, wrapping an arm around you. You feel the gun being pulled from your grip. “Spencer, call the others."
You melt into his embrace as the tears finally fall, steadily and silently.
Downstairs, Aaron paces wildly with red rimming his eyes. The local police department was corrupt and had been after important documents that would lead to incredible opportunities for organized crime. The BAU caught on too late to stop the hostage situation, but when they realized what the officers had been after, they sprung into action.
When the others told him about you being taken by the leader, the gunshots they heard, and the fact that neither of you came back to the bullpen, his mind jumped to the worst. All of their minds did. But when they went searching, they found the leader bleeding out in a hallway, missing a gun with you nowhere to be found.
Now, Aaron can’t stop pacing. Dave sits close by, injuries tended to. His attempts to comfort his friend fell of deaf ears.
But Aaron can’t lose you too. He was supposed to keep you safe. He took you in because his brother couldn’t keep you safe. Even with the call from Spencer, he couldn’t believe you were okay until he sees it. He gets his reassurance when he sees the elevator opens. Morgan has an arm around you, bracing you and protecting you from any perceived threat.
You rush forward when you see him, throwing your arms around his neck.
“You’re okay.” He says, comforting both you and himself. “I’m sorry,” You choke out.
“What for?” He asks. That was certainly not the reaction he was expecting.
“I shot him. I’m sorry, I didn’t know what else to do-”
“Y/N.” Aaron pushes you away from his chest so he can look you in the eyes. “You did what you had to. You were protecting yourself.” You can only nod with tears in your eyes. He brings you back into his arms, fingers carding through your hair for both your comfort and his. You bury your head in his chest, blocking the rest of the world out.
Everything is going to be okay.

Flawed AC Blower
AC Blower is a crucial part of the cooling framework; we utilize certified OEM and OES AC blowers, as it were. Our costs for AC Blower Change are extremely serious when contrasted with approved assistance places in Bangalore.
AC Gas Spillage
Just a prepared and experienced mechanic can deal with the vehicle's AC framework, but recognizable proof of AC gas spillage is definitely not a simple errand. Sometimes the AC gas leak is so small that it can take hours to find where the hole is.
The vehicle AC is not working.
There can be various explanations for vehicle AC not working; it very well may be a flawed blower, AC gas spillage, low AC gas, an absence of coolant, or a radiator fan not working as expected, or other consolidated shortcomings. Our Car AC services in Bangalore mechanics can inspect the vehicle, identify the issue, and offer a solution to pinpoint the issue.
We rank among Bangalore's best air conditioning repair facilities. Repairing an air conditioner in a car can be expensive. Our sincere recommendation to our clients is to resolve AC issues as soon as possible. Our experience shows that early intervention is relatively inexpensive, whereas neglecting air conditioning issues results in catastrophic damage to the system's compressor and condenser.

I wake up next to Sam, my vision still a bit blurry, my head aching.
"Sammy, you okay ?" I ask touching his head.
He grunts, opening his eyes with a frown.
"The bitch got us" I groan. "Shit, my head hurts."
"Mine too" he sighs.
I look around, the warehouse is dark, no sign of the monster we were hunting down.
"Dean ?" I call, that well-known consuming fear in my stomach.
"He's not here" Sam sighs. "When we discovered it was the Goddess of Dreams, he went back to the bunker to look for the weapon we need. I was going to tell you that when the bitch surprised us..."
"Oh, so he's safe..." I whisper.
"Well, we're not..."
He tugs on the chains, nothing happens.
"Don't hurt yourself" says a weird, beautiful woman, entering the room. "Those are made of iron, even a powerful man like you can nothing against them."
Sam looks at her with a dark look and I'm just happy that Dean is not here...
She bends and lifts her golden tattooed arm above us.
"Oh interesting ! It's really rare..." she thinks out loud. "It usually only happens with soul mates, you see... The things that would make you happy are compatible. That's so cute !"
"What does that even mean ? Why would you want us happy ?" Sam grunts.
"Didn't you do your homework hunter ? I feed on happiness ! Not that bad, huh ?" she says with an odd smile. "I give you your heaven and you give me life, it's a good deal."
"Yeah, but we die..." I groan.
"No, of course not, honey... see."
She turns the light on and our eyes widen.
All around us, pretty beds with peaceful sleepers in them. It's like a creepy version of the sleeping beauty.
"They all are perfectly happy, you will be soon... And like soul mates, you are not going alone, you are sharing your dream. Sleep tight !"
She touches our heads.
I frown and hear Sam breathe heavily.
"Sammy ? You're okay ?"
"Yep" he says getting up.
The warehouse is empty.
I start to get up but feel something odd about my own body. I look down and my breath get stuck in my throat. My large jeans, oversized hoodie and old booties are missing, replaced by what I dreamed I could wear all my teenage years.
Black high-heels and skinny jeans showing my curves, a sexy top and a leather jacket. I'm simply dressed like I would if I was confident I loved my body... I never wear high heels.
"Your biggest dream is to be sexier ?" Sam scoffs staring at me.
"What ? No !"
To be honest, I really hope the Goddess is wrong about my biggest dream, because this is going to become awkward...
We get out and see Baby parked in front of the building.
"You said Dean wasn't there" I frown.
"He was not... But who knows what else than your outfit changed !"
Sam takes his phone, and I have the idea to look for mine. As I search my tight front pockets, I find Dean's keys.
"Yeah, Dean ?" Sam says on the phone. "Where are you ? ... But the Impala's here... What do you mean Y/n has the keys..."
I show him that I found them.
"Okay..." he says frowning. "And the Goddess of Dreams?... No Dean, you didn't killed it, we are... Okay. Yeah she's with me... Yeah, we're coming home. "
I sit at the driver's place and rise my eyebrows. I never, in seven years, drove the Impala.
"Sam I... I think I'm wearing a... garter belt" I stammer, wiggling.
"What the... ! Y/n why are you..."
I could swear he flushes. I never saw Sam flush, I never made a guy flush...
During the drive, my best friend keeps his eyes on me and I feel awkward.
"Why would you be so sexy..." he thinks out loud.
"Maybe it is your dream" I joke, but sadness passes on his face.
"The only thing that would make me truly happy is for you and Dean to be."
I look back at the road.
Sam is so selfless, no wonder he can share even his dreams.
I park in the garage and take a deep breath. I don't want to see Dean... If we are in my heaven, it means Dean... I...
"Hurry" Sammy says taking me by the arm. "We have to figure out how to wake up."
When I enter the library, my heart is racing and my stomach is aching. The sound of my heels echoes in the room.
"Hey !" Dean voice resonates ahead of himself.
When he enters the room, my heart falls on my belly. He's even more handsome than he always have been, if this is even possible... His eyes are lighter, like he wasn't so worried, his smile radiates like the sun.
"Wow Sammy you look tired man ! Y/n what did you do to my brother ?" he says coming near.
When he reaches me, he puts a hand on my lower back and I shiver. He puts a light kiss on my temple.
"Is Baby okay ?"
I nod and give him the key.
"A beer ?" he asks going toward the kitchen.
I look at my outfit again and think hard.
"Was your biggest dream to drive my brother's car ?" Sam asks in disbelief.
"No..." I shrug.
Dean comes back and puts a bottle on the table next to me.
"Here baby" he says.
While Sam looks at me strangely, his brother gives him a drink too. Then he comes toward me and takes my jacket off in a soft motion, like it was a habit to undress me. I start to tremble.
"Is everything okay Love ?" he asks me.
"Y-yeah..." I state, trying to hide the panic in my voice.
Then the man I always loved bends and kisses my lips. I close my eyes and my heart skips a beat. I spent seven years trying to imagine the feeling of those plumb lips on mine... One of his hand comes up to push my hair out of my face. And he deepens the kiss. Dean Winchester's tongue is touching mine.
When he breaks the kiss I'm a shaking mess.
"You're so cute" he says before leaving the room once again.
I touch my lips staring through the floor.
"So, your biggest dream is my brother..." Sam sighs.
"I... Shit Sam" I would love to deny, but let's be honest, I can't. "This was a secret. Please pleeeeease never tell him..." I beg in panic, joining my hand like during a prayer before him.
But he avoids looking in my eyes.
"We'll never see him again if we don't figure out a way to wake up" he says. "Since when are you in love with my brother ?"
"I... Huh..."
"Since the day we met" Dean says entering the room with snacks. "Can you believe it Sam ? She fell in love with an unconscious and hurt me, when she saved us from that monster in Texas seven years ago..."
He grins and I feel his hand grab my ass discreetly, I choke but when he puts the plate on the table to check on me, my eyes widen and I definitely can't breathe anymore. He has a golden ring on his finger.
I look at my hand and squeal.
"Wait. Are you two married ?" asks Sam with an unreadable, almost furious, expression on his usually kind face.
"Sammy what is your problem tonight ?" Dean asks, putting a loving arm around my waist.
I don't know what is happening, but I know this will never happen in my life. I've done dreams like this a thousand times but they never were so real. This is wrong but I just don't want to wake up just now.
"Like you said, Dean. He is tired" I say.
Sam shoots me with a black look.
"Dean... Baby ?" I dare and he smiles at me. "Can I talk to your brother for a second ?"
"Yeah, I guess" he states a little worried. "Is everything okay between you two ?"
"Of course..."
"I'm in the bedroom, baby, hurry up. I missed you..." he says making me internally freak out.
"Y/n, this is bad..." Sam grunts the minute Dean is away.
"I know... I know Sammy. I'm... I'm so sorry. I can't... Listen, maybe we can find a way tomorrow..."
He passes his hands through his hair like he was even more panicked than me.
"This is sick. You know this isn't real right ?"
"Yeah but Dean is the same, his smell, his..." I start in an unintentional sigh.
"So what, you're just going to take advantage of the situation ? It's almost as if you were abusing..."
"Stop !" I order raising a hand. "I'm not the monster here... Listen. It's just a dream Sammy... You know now, the secret's out. I've been in love with Dean for seven years. Seven years of constant heartbreak... And it's just the beginning..."
"Y/n..." he mutters.
"Let me have tonight. Let me just kiss him once more, lay in his arms and I will go back to crying myself to sleep every times he goes out."
I open the door to my room but there is nothing inside. A impersonal bed, none of my stuffs. So I go to Dean's room and knock on the door.
"Yeah ?" he answers.
I shyly push the door open and take a step in.
"Why do you knock ?" he asks in a frown.
"I don't know" I shrug.
The room is a perfect mix between Dean and me. His guns and knife, that cute picture of Mary and him on the nightstand, the order he likes mixed with my jumble, my books and coffee cups everywhere, even the hair dryer is here.
"I'm sorry for the mess" I whisper.
"I'm used to it" he shrugs. "Is everything okay with Sam ?"
"Yes, he..." but I can't keep talking as Dean takes his shirt off. "Wow..."
"What ?" he turns worried.
"You are so beautiful" I know I sound like a teenager.
"Am I, baby ?" he grins.
I nod and swallow hard when he comes near in just his jeans. Am I really allowed to touch him ? I lift a hand and flatten it on his chest.
"You're not that bad yourself..." he bends and I feel his tongue obscenely suck on my pulse point. "You know I don't like those jeans..." his hands open the button of the belt. "Too hard to take off... Are you wearing panties baby girl ?"
"I... Oh God..."
"Is it possible that you are even more responsive than you usually are ? Did you touch yourself ?"
I shake my head and feel wetness soak my pussy. Shit, this dream might actually kill me. I'm not a virgin but I really feel like I was right now. This is something else.
"Mh..." Dean moans in my ear when he pushes my jeans down. "My favorite..." he purrs touching the lace of the lingerie I'm wearing. "You're so perfect baby..."
He takes my top off and I wrap my arms around myself, ashamed of what I have to give him.
"What are you doing ?" he frowns. "Hands above your head baby girl."
"But..." I try but he makes his tongue flap and grunts.
"We are way pass those bullshits of you hiding Y/n... Did anyone make you feel like you are not perfect today ?" he says with a very serious, dominant look.
"N-no..." I stammer.
"So, hands above your head baby..."
I lift my hands, crossing my wrists and feel my head spin. Dean wraps his arms around me and takes my ass in his big strong hands, squeezing it like he could bite with his fingers. He takes a step closer and I can feel his arousal against me now, I try to focus on his eyes to ease the million overwhelming feeling invading me.
"Shit I missed you baby girl... Had to watch our video three times in two days" he grunts in my ear, making me widen my eyes.
He sounds desperate and pants against my neck while his hands rub me roughly against his crotch.
"I touched myself three fucking times in two days because of you" he bites my throat hard and I whine. "Teasing me like that... Next time Sammy wants to hunt with you, I punch him."
I can't help but let my arms fall on his shoulders to touch him. And when he squeezes my ass harder to rub my pussy on him, the friction reaching my clit, I dig my fingers on his skin.
His hand falls on the front of my panties and he let his fingers slip on it, making me moans and shake.
"Oh God" I repeat, making him smile dangerously.
"Yeah ? Baby ? You like that ?"
I nod and put my head on his shoulder. I try to spread my legs more but my pants is keeping my knees together.
"I told you that jeans were not a good choice..." he bites my neck and finds my clit, teasing it through the fabric.
I keep him close, my face hidden in his neck, smelling him.
"Dean..." I finally manage to beg and hearing his name like that arouse me even more.
"Shit. You're already close. Did I miss you that much ?" he groans.
"I miss... oh... I miss you all the time... God please..."
"Starting to beg already, I barely touched you."
With that he takes his hand away.
"No..." I whine.
"Yes" he states. "Take off your clothes. Except those."
I'm shaking from being so close to an orgasm and from the intimacy with Dean.
I manage to take off my jeans but my shoes fall from the tightness of the pants.
"No, no. Put those back" he orders and that's when I look up at him. He's naked. Dean, my Dean, secret-love friend, legendary hunter, inaccessible perfect man is standing naked before me. And he's so hard.
"Am... Am I doing this to y-you ?" I stammer, pointing at his crotch.
"Who else ?" he says almost sternly.
Once I manage get out of my clothes, he gives me his hand to lead me on the bed. I fall on it and try not to think about what I am wearing. Dean kneels on the mattress above me and bends to catch my lips with passion.
"I love you" he says between burning kisses. "And look at you..."
"I love you too Dean. Always have" I sigh, both relieved and terrified to admit it out loud, and with him watching me.
There is something in his green eyes I thought I'll never see, like I was the only thing that matters in this world. Desire, love, adoration even.
"This time I'm the one making you beg baby" he sighs starting to rub himself lightly on my thigh. "You're gonna beg a little more, aren't you ?"
His hand slips inside my panties and with the other, he spreads my legs wider. When I feel his fingers enter me, I hold back a scream by taking his mouth with mine.
He's an expert. Is an expert on my body. Every time I feel that tsunami-like orgasm build again, he slows or changes angles, keeping the intense pleasure but not allowing me the relief I need so bad.
"Please, Dean..."
He smiles, showing me his perfect teeth, sweat on his handsome face.
"Here... See, I'm not the only one begging you Y/n."
My brains allows me to think about the idea of him pleading for more, but his thumb find my clit and every coherent thought vanish once again.
"Please, Dean. I love you... Shit I love you so much ! Dean please, please I need..." I whine shaken by the now sharp thrusts of his strong hand.
"You know how it works baby girl" he says kissing me eagerly.
I wish I knew but I don't. I wish I had had this perfect relationship with him, I wish I had learned to know his body and his desires so good, I wish that past I missed had me become as confident as his wife seems to be. But I'm just me, the shy, hung up, insecure me. And this is way more than I could ever dream.
"H-how does it work ?" I dare, high on him in every ways.
"Come on" he kisses me again and fasten the thrusts of his finger, making me gasp. "You really love to hear me say that don't you ?" his fingers still. "I love you Y/n, you are everything to me and I would give you anything. Just ask me baby. I'm yours."
I swallow hard to prevent tears from escaping my eyes and put a loving kiss on his plumb lips. His fingers bends inside me to reach that sweet spot no man I've been with found.
"I want you !" I cry out trying to roll my hips to take him deeper.
"You want me ? Where ? How ?" he groans and takes his fingers out of me very slowly.
"Take me" I moan low. "Take me like you need to, after I teased you for two days."
I let my hands roam his back and his ass, trying to take him closer.
"On your knees" he orders. "Shit, baby, turn around."
As I turn and lift my ass, I feel his lips graze my ankles. He kisses my calves here and there and comes up, slightly biting the inside of my thighs. His teeth play with the lace a few seconds.
"Mh... I'm so fucking lucky..." he moans.
Then I feel him pull at my panties, making the fabric press against my clit.
"Oh... Dean..."
Before I have the time to take that new jolt of pleasure, I feel a wide stretch as he enters me in one sharp thrust. I fall on my elbows and arch my back. Dean's big hands take my waist and he withdraws almost completely before slamming inside me again, my body welcoming him with how wet I am.
I cry out, biting the pillow. I never had anyone so deep or so rough and I never had anyone I loved.
That's when I hear it : the sound that shattered my heart a hundred times. The sound of Dean's loud moan, that specific almost roar he makes when sex is awesome. That sound I heard several times in the room next door.
My pussy clenches around him, like it was afraid he could disappear, like I could wake up to hearing him from across the wall. But he is here, buried so deep inside me I feel like I'm discovering my own body, one of his hand flat on my back, the other guiding me to join him in his thrusts.
"Come here" he pants tugging at my shoulder.
I straighten up the best I can and he sucks a hickey on my neck. His hand wraps around my throat to keep me up but he doesn't squeeze, he just hold me and kisses me. I spread my legs wider and his other hands comes front to join his cock, like he just wanted to feel it go in and out of me. He finally lets go of me and I fall back on my elbows with a desperate moan.
His palms start wondering on my ass.
"You want more baby ?" he asks panting.
I have no idea what he means but I guess I can't have enough of Dean so I nod biting my lips. Then I feel something I never felt. Something wet falls between my ass cheeks and I understand it's Dean's hot saliva. My eyes widen. His thumb wets on it and pushes against my asshole. I gasp.
This is new... this feels great, but... His finger slowly but completely enters me making me close my eyes and scream in the pillow. This is a kind of pleasure I never knew. He pushes deep and, being completely innocent on that part, his large finger is enough to stretch me to the point of an ambivalent pain.
Who knows how confident we are with each other ? Who knows what we tried together ? ...
I don't recognize the sounds coming out of my mouth, it's like I was crying or in great pain. The truth is I don't really care what I sound or look anymore.
"Oh fuck" he cries out and I realize that I'm squeezing him like crazy.
That coil inside my core just breaks and I almost faint when the most powerful orgasm in my life shaken me.
"Oh God baby !" Dean screams, taking the garter belt with both hand to pull on me hard while he spills the deepest possible inside me.
Laying on his chest I stroke his skin. I can't believe I am where I am, I can't believe the heartbeat singing in my ear is Dean's.
"Wow, if you want a round two, you'll have to let me rest a few minutes. That one almost killed me..." he chuckles.
"Nah, you're tough, you'll live" I joke realizing how natural being with him is.
He gets up and I frown, but I don't really dare asking questions. He leaves the room but come back an instant after, smelling like soap and carrying a towel.
"Here, let me. I don't want to fall asleep right away and wake up in sticky sheets like the other day" he winks at me and wipes our mess. "There baby. You'll be more comfortable."
He takes the lingerie off and puts it on the nightstand. Then he takes me in his arms and nuzzles against my skin.
When I wake up, a suffocating fear makes my heart race. I forgot I was in a dream for so long. I could have just drift away without even realizing it. Damn.
I get up and leave the room without looking back, because I know that seeing my husband... seeing Dean, would make me forget again.
Sam is in the kitchen he looks so mournful, that worries me.
"Hey Sammy are you okay ?" I catch his chin between my fingers to make him look at me.
It's like he'd been crying...
"Yeah. I'm just exhausted. I spent the night thinking of a way to wake up... Let's say we weren't having the same preoccupation..."
"I..." I don't know what to say, I'm so afraid he's judging me. But he has to understand how heartbreaking my love for Dean is. "Did you..."
"Now that you had your fun, Y/n, I figured out how to cut that bitch off completely" he says putting his hands in his pockets. "The Goddess feeds on happiness, am I right?"
I nod swallowing hard. I know where Sam is going with that... and I hear my own voice begging to run away from him in my head.
"If we're miserable... maybe we'll wake up" he rubs his neck.
"Shit" I wince as my heart cracks open. "Don't make me do that Sammy..."
He frowns when my voice breaks like it never did. I bite my cheeks to distract myself from the sharp pain in my chest.
"He actually loves me..." I whine in a desperate pleading tone. "I can't... I can't hurt him. I can't give up on him."
"I'm sorry Y/n" Sam says reaching for my arm.
I start crying like a lost children and tears fill his kind hazel eyes.
"I can't Sammy ! I'm not strong enough !" I sob, falling between his opened arms. "Please... please. I can't ! I love him too much !"
"Think about him then" Sam states with a broken voice. "The real Dean. The one worrying, looking for us. Will you let him down ?"
"This is so unfair... He doesn't love me... It hurts Sammy. God it hurts so much" I sob in my best friend's arms.
I enter the war room. Dean is here, he just came back from buying food, like he told me he will ; he offers me a warm smile to welcome me.
"Hi baby"
"Dean... We need to talk" if I don't do it quickly, I know I'm going to fail. "This is important."
His face changes, the sorrow on my face is making him panic and I already can see the pain I'm about to cause.
"Okay..." he states coming closer.
I feel a tear tickle my chin and Dean's green eyes are searching my face in fear.
"I... I don't love you anymore" I say.
His eyes widen.
"What ? Baby, that joke's not fun, you know..."
"This is not a joke. I don't want to be with you anymore" I say a little too fast.
"You're lying" he says taking a step back with terror everywhere on his face. I have to look away. "No, Y/n, look at me and tell me why you're saying that."
"Because I don't..."
"Don't say you don't love me" he cuts me coldly. "You loved me last night. You said it. I felt it."
"I was lying then" I sob despite all my effort to keep calm.
"You weren't."
"Dean ! Stop doing this ! I want to break up, you..."
"No" Dean says, authoritarian. "You married me last year, remember ? You said forever... That means you can't end this."
His face is so stern he frightens me.
"I'm leaving you..." I sighs.
"No."
"Yes Dean ! I'm leaving you !"
"You can't. You love me. I'm the only one you feel safe with. I'm your hopes and dreams, remember ?"
His eyes are wet now but he doesn't cry. As I turn to leave, he grabs my arm to make me look at him.
"What is it ?" he asks taking my face in his hands. "You can tell me. Is this a spell ? Did someone threatened you ? Tell me."
"I just don't love you" I try.
"I don't believe you."
"I love someone else" I improvise.
"Who ?"
"Sammy."
"Bullshit" he says letting go of my face to hold his own in both hands. "The man you choose for your lie is not even credible. You don't love Sammy, you never will. The guy is like a cute little brother to you... Stop torturing me ! The truth ! NOW !"
"Tell him" Sam says entering the room with darken eyes.
Dean turns and looks between his brother and me. As I stay silent, Sam takes a step closer and starts to explain the whole truth to Dean.
Goddess, dreams, other Dean...
"No..." Deans finally says turning to me. "Please, tell me he's lying."
"He's not."
"Baby tell me this is not true !" he half screams, half begs, big tears rolling on his cheeks.
"This is not even real" I think out loud.
"THIS IS REAL TO ME !" Dean yells, strangled by pain.
"You don't love me for real" I cry.
"But I do !" he pleads. "I love you... I was so miserable before I knew you. I spent the last seven years loving you baby... So..." his voice breaks and my heart shatters. "So all my memories are fake, all our secrets ? Is it true you want a little girl named Charlie ? Did you forget our first date at a haunted restaurant because we wanted to work the case..."
I feel my blood run cold, everything is crashing down. Even breathing is painful.
"I'm sorry Dean... This is my fault" I sob like a kid.
"I love you..." he keeps crying. "I don't want everything to vanish..."
"Me neither..."
"I don't want you to just dream of me ! You deserve better" he leans on the table, out of strength.
That's when I notice the ceiling is slowly disappearing. I start to panic. No ! This is too soon ! I take him in my arms and put a protective hand on his head. Sam disappears suddenly.
"It's okay baby" I sob. "I love you."
"I love you too" he cries squeezing me. "Don't leave me..."
As I don't answer, he squeezes even more.
"It's happening, isn't it ?" he sighs in my neck, wetting it with burning tears.
"Yeah Dean..." I weep.
"You were so cute in that simple black wedding dress, baby" he whispers. "I was not mad at you for dressing in black, you know, I was just so fucking nervous..." He swallows loudly and nuzzles in my neck. "I... I hope you have your Charlie one day..."
Each one of his words is killing me, but I can't tell him to stop... He's about to become silent forever...
"I love you..." repeats when the warehouse sounds come to my ears.
"Y/n !" Sam yells, shaking me.
I open my eyes and burst in tears right away, while Sam helps me get on my feet. No high heels and confidence anymore, it's almost odd being dressed like an insecure teenager after all of that.
"We need to leave" he says. "Dean is after the Goddess and he called 911 for the victims to be taken care of if they wake up. We need to be gone when they arrive."
He tries to make me run but my feet don't work anymore so he carries me. I cling to him while he goes out and barely let go when he sits me on the backseat of the Impala.
"Y/n, it was a dream..." he tries when I keep sobbing while he drives.
"No... It was all true" I whine. "Everything he said. I... I feel like he just died, Sammy. I feel like Dean and my husband died in the same time. No, worse than that... I..."
"I know..." Sam sighs. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault, just... don't tell him" I ask.
As I lift my eyes I see myself in the rear-view mirror. I look so broken and... Shit ! I burst in tears even more, why life has to be so cruel it left the hickeys my Dean did on my neck... I rub my finger on it and try to avoid Sam's worried look.
Then I see him on the side of the road, walking with a strange knife on his hand. He is the one I love and the one I lost. Yet he's not my husband. He will never be mine.
Blood is covering his arms but it's not his. He smiles when he hears the engine of his beloved car, and I realize that even a genuine smile hurts my now forever shattered heart, everything about him will always keep me from healing...
So I hold on to Sam's kind gaze, to his comforting face. Because Sammy is so strong, so selfless. Sammy is the one who's dream was for me to be happy. He's my best friend, a cute little brother, like Dean said. The constant of my life. Sam always gives me strength...
... But I will never truly know how strong he actually is. Because he hides it so well... that he's as brokenhearted as me. And he will keep giving me pieces of his shattered heart to try to heal mine, forever. Because all he wants is for me to be happy, right ?

Second Chance (Chapter Two) Be Still (Craig Tucker)
A/n: I may write a version of Second Chance for Kenny too. Depends on how this story goes. Tags are available; let me know if anyone wants to be on it.
Sunday before noon – before the weather got worse – Eden packed her suit case and left the apartment. Her beat up Taurus – nicknamed the Turd – was near a complete breakdown; not suited for long distance travels, but because she was only going 2 hours down the road, Eden thought the car would make it without a problem.
She was mistaken.
Outside South Park her car died. The rolling turd had a history of bad luck, most of which Eden was able to repair or replace. The newest issue was with the engine; it overheated nearly all the time. She had plans to take it in, but laziness on her part always seemed to prolong it. Hauling with her a bottle of water, she marched out into the cold and poured the liquid into the coolant tank – it would do until she found an auto shop in town.
Sending her cousin, a quick message she jumped back into the car, turned the heat up, and went on her way. The gauge on the dash stayed dangerously in the red, but she managed to find the shop and pulled in with a squeal. It was after 3, but no one was around; the parking lot was empty, apart from a vintage tow truck near the garage.
Eden tried the front door, but the store was locked up. She thought that maybe it was closed – the sign in the door said so – but hearing the faint sound of music drifting from the garage, she figured that someone was nearby.
“Hello. Hi … sorry to bother you, but my car needs coolant and I’m not sure how far I’m going to get without it.” Eden peaked into the room, noticing a pair of legs sticking out from beneath the front of a hulking SUV.
She tried to get their attention by clearing her voice – even calling out to them again – but still, they didn’t hear her.
Eden leaned down and gently touched the person’s leg. She felt them lurch in surprise. Their head striking the undercarriage of the SUV rocked the vehicle hard; hard enough that it knocked the balance off the floor jack and sent the load plummeting down. She managed to roll the creeper out until they were safe, barely able to keep them from having their upper body trapped.
“Fuck, dude. That hasn’t happened in a while.”
She wasn’t sure what they meant, but she sure as hell recognized them; the vibrant orange pants were an obvious hint.
“Kenny McCormick? Is that really you?”
Of course, it was. He hadn’t changed too much since high school, though his blond locks were a bit more unkempt. His stunning blue eyes lit up as he stared at Eden; a half smirk lifted his lips.
“Yeah. And who might you be?”
Eden frowned; he didn’t seem to recognize her. She honestly didn’t think she had changed too much. Her hair was longer, but that was about it. She aimed her eyes at the floor and curled her hair around her finger in embarrassment.
“Sorry … I thought you’d recognize me. It’s Edith Westbrook; from high school.”
We dated for a little while, she opted not to say. He was a rebound; he knew, but didn’t seem to mind.
Kenny couldn’t believe it. Eden Westbrook? He sat up and took her into his arms. “You look great – hot even; not like you weren’t already. It’s good to see you again.”
“Yeah. It’s good to see you too.” She hugged back. Parting from Kenny, Eden looked him over – a motion that brought a smile to his face. “Look at you; a mechanic. And you look great.”
She honestly didn’t know what to say. Her hands came up to cover her warm face.
“Still easy to embarrass I see. You’re too cute,” Kenny joked.
Eden playfully smacked his arm. “Stop it, play boy. It’s really great to see you doing so well.”
“It’s my dad’s shop, but I get around.” He still couldn’t believe she was back. “The fuck are you doing back in South Park? I thought you left for good?”
She ran her tongue over her bottom lip. “I’m not back; I’m here on business actually. Wendy called me.”
“Right. The wedding? I nearly forgot. Took Stan long enough to ask her – though I’m sure it was forced.”
Eden agreed. Stan and Wendy had been on and off as a couple for a long time. It was about time they settled down.
“A risky thing to do, but I’m sure Stan knows that. I’m happy he’s found someone to spend his life with.”
Kenny smirked. “Or until she divorces him. Some of the guys and I made a bet – more cash in my pocket if I win.”
“I was right; you haven’t changed a bit.” Eden rolled her eyes in a playful manner. She took a breath and frowned. As much as she wanted to continue on with this reunion, she had somewhere else to be.
“Think I could buy some coolant from you? My engine keeps overheating, and I really need to meet Shelly at the coffeehouse in a few hours.”
“Store is closed today,” Kenny said with a sigh. He was actually working just to clear his mind. “I can take a look at it tomorrow before noon though. It sounds like a number of things, and honestly your engine won’t stop overheating if the problem isn’t fixed. Coolant alone won’t repair a broken radiator fan or a stuck thermostat.”
“How much will that cost? And how long will it take?”
Kenny laughed and stood up, extending his arms above his head. His back cracked in protest. “Can’t say for sure until I’ve looked at it, but don’t fret; I’ve got you, babe. Until then, I can give you a ride into town.”
“I’d appreciate it,” she replied.
The flirty blond dug a set of keys out of his pocket and tossed them to her. “That tow truck by the door is mine. You can start it up and get the heat going while I close up, if you want.”
“Be still my heart,” Eden joked. She gave him a wink and walked out towards her car to grab her suit case.
Once she had it, she jumped into the passenger seat of the tow truck and started up the engine, along with the heat. Her phone was silent; Shelly hadn’t replied to her earlier message. Eden decided to ignore it and waited for Kenny.
He appeared moments later wearing an orange parka – a different style than the one he wore as a teenager; this one had brown patches around the elbows and a high collar that fastened beneath his chin – and jumped into the seat next to her.
“Miss me,” he joked.
Eden snorted in laughter. “Every second.”
With a smile, Kenny drove the truck out of the lot and headed towards town. He took her passed City Hall and allowed her to a chance to look around.
Nothing had changed too much since High School. A few new buildings were scattered here and there – mostly apartments and new stores. Eden stared out the window in glee. Memories flooded her mind; some good and others not worth recalling. This town was a big part of her life, a fact she wasn’t sure she was proud of or not.
By the time Kenny parked the truck in the parking lot of the coffeehouse, she was staring at her hands in concern. Was it honestly a good idea to come back here? A gentle sigh from Kenny brought her back to reality. She turned and forced a smile.
“Thanks a bunch for helping me, Ken.”
He nodded. “No problem. I’ll see you at the rehearsal in a few days, so just leave your car to me.”
Leaning forward with hesitation, Eden gave him a kiss on the cheek. Her face warmed up; she owed him this much. She grabbed her luggage and waved to Kenny as she got out the truck, walking towards the door. The sound of his truck roaring to life made her pause with uncertainty, but she took a deep breath and went inside.
All she had to do was wait on Shelly to pick her up; no problem.
The place was mostly empty as Eden walked up to the counter – very few people were inside. She was surprised Mr. Tweek hadn’t sold the shop; it was pretty old. The coffee was good though; addictive even. She decided to buy a cup, ringing the bell near the register.
Moments later, she saw another familiar face. He appeared from inside the employees only door behind the counter. His wide blue eyes landed on her and unlike Kenny, he seemed to know who she was.
“Gah! Eden … you’re back.”
She bobbed her head. “Only for the wedding. It’s good to see you again, Tweek. Are you doing well?”
“I’m making it, I guess! And you?”
It was obvious that twitching had gotten a little better. He was able to keep himself from grounding his teeth or clutching his hands. Eden admired his progress. She didn’t speak to Tweek much in school, but she was around him quite often.
“I’m doing pretty good. Mind if I get a cappuccino? I’m actually waiting on Shelly to pick me up. Has she done been by here?”
“I … I don’t know,” he answered in uncertainty. “But I don’t mind if you want to stick around until she gets here! Nngh! I’ll bring your drink out to you in a little bit!”
Eden thanked him again, moving her luggage to the first set of booths next to the counter. She took out her phone and checked her messages; still no word from Shelly. Eden shot her another text and set her phone down on the table. What was taking her so long to respond?
Leaning her head back, she closed her eyes for a brief moment. With all that was going on, Eden didn’t realize how tired she was. Her time in South Park was set to be a hectic one; sleep wouldn’t come easy for her, not with the week Bridezilla had planned. She just wanted to get to the apartment and rest before the fitting tomorrow.
The chill air on her face suddenly urged her tired eyes open. She glanced towards the door and noticed a troupe of people come in; a familiar troupe of people. Eden snatched up her phone and buried her attention into it, listening as they spoke noisily to Tweek at the counter. Her heat pounded in her chest; fucking idiot. Did she not expect this?
Fortunately for Eden, the group of 4 didn’t seem to notice her. She thought she was in safe hands with Tweek, but once again she was mistaken. Her own name on his tongue brought tears to her eyes; a pen drop could be heard.
Moments later she was startled by someone dropping into the seat beside her, nearly on top of her. Eden squeaked as they embraced her closely – Bebe was an affectionate and very hands on friend.
“I am so happy you’re here – you have no idea,” she spoke.
Eden gently pried herself away, giving her a smile. “Wendy would never forgive me if I missed her big day.”
“No question,” Bebe agreed. “Now that you’re the new maid of honor; she’d probably kill you.”
Don’t remind me, Eden groaned. She narrowed her eyes in empathy. “I’m really sorry about that. You should have been the maid of honor, not me.”
“It’s no big. I was totally serious what I said; you’re the only girl brave enough to walk down the aisle with Cartman.”
“Only because of Stan,” Eden clarified. “I’d never be able to endure his behavior if it weren’t fo––
A sudden laugh interrupted her. Clyde took a seat, shuffling over so that Token could sit down.
“How is cousin Stan? Kenny and I have a wager going – I bet a year.”
Eden stifled a laugh. She’d heard. “He’s fine, I guess. Haven’t really spoken to him yet.”
She waved at Token and glanced at her phone again. Still no word from Shelly. And where was Tweek with her cappuccino? She really didn’t want to continue this reunion; not with Craig nearby. Eden tapped her finger against the counter. Where was he? Didn’t he want to see her again?
“So … any plans now that you’re back?”
Eden puckered a brow. Besides the wedding, she had none. She shook her head in disagreement. “Once this is over, I plan to return to Colorado Springs.”
“Really? I thought now that you were back in town, you’d make up with Craig. You know he––
Token gently elbowed his shoulder. “You can’t ask her that; it’s in bad taste.”
“Really, babe. Leave her alone.” Bebe leaned her weight against Eden’s arm. “Ignore him; he’s an idiot.”
He went to counter but instead swore under his breath as a carrier fell on the table with a loud thud. The contents in each cup luckily didn’t spill over, but the noise was enough to startle everyone at the booth.
“Fuck, man. Are you trying to scare us?”
Craig flipped him the bird and dropped into a seat he pulled up from the counter. His cold blue eyes fell on Eden for a moment – to gauge her reaction – but she was staring at her hands with concern on her face. He had to admit, long hair suited her.
“A carrier? I thought we were hanging out here for a while?” Token passed out the drinks as he waited for Craig to explain – Eden thanked him with a nervous smile.
“Decided not to,” Craig said simply.
His voice alone made her skin prickle. Was he upset that she was here? It wasn’t her fault; Shelly asked her to come here. Besides, it was her who should be mad, not him.
“What are your plans for today, Eden? If you’re free, you should totally hang with us,” Bebe suggested.
Eden quickly declined. “Sorry, but I don’t think it would be a good idea; not with the fitting early tomorrow. My car is parked at the shop Kenny and his dad owns, so I don’t currently have a ride home.”
“You met up with Kenny already? Where are you staying? Clyde and I can take you there.”
Close as she was to Eden, the fair-haired woman knew how curious Bebe was. The less she knew, the better.
“He brought me here. Shelly was meant to pick me up, but I haven’t been able to get a hold of her in a few hours,” she answered.
Bebe smiled. “Come stay with me tonight. We’re both getting fitted tomorrow.”
It wasn’t a bad idea. Eden tested her coffee and took a careful drink; she hummed in excitement.
“Are you sure? I’d hate to impose.”
Bebe shook her head. “It’s no problem. We can make some drinks and chat about all the little things in our lives.”
High school all over again. Eden agreed with a nod. She hadn’t been to a sleep over in a long time. “Sounds like fun.”
“Then let’s get moving,” Bebe said with a smile. She stood up and allowed Eden to do the same, more or less yanking her from the booth in excitement.
In a rush, she forgot her suit case.

Glory Days
Fandom: Hetalia
Characters: APH Lithuania, APH Prussia, APH Russia
Rating: T
Summary: Amid a dying empire, nearing the end of the Cold War, Toris and Gilbert listen to Bruce Springsteen on a stolen radio and re-live their own “glory days.”
Written for Pruliet Week 2019, prompt: regret.
This is a work in progress. I didn’t get it all finished by the deadline, but I figured I’d go ahead and post what I’ve got so far. I will post the whole fic once it’s done.
April 1986
Toris hated dinner parties.
He could remember a time when that wasn’t always true. Could remember a time when he found them enjoyable. Surrounded by men in furs with swords at their hips, ladies in richly embroidered robes. Amber light cast by the fire roaring in the castle’s great hall warmed the cold stone and the guests as they conversed, intimate and raucous. Of course they hadn’t been called dinner parties then. Banquet or feast would have been more appropriate. If he closed his eyes, he could sometimes still smell the roasted boar.
As the world lurched ever closer to modernity, these dinners became less celebratory and more formal. Crystal and porcelain replaced wood and pewter. Tables grew in length, not to seat more people, but to accommodate the sudden swelling of place settings. Who decided forks and glassware should come in threes? What was wrong with a simple knife and fork? Toris sighed, looking around at the feting guests. That was the thing with being immortal – the catch. You could always remember a time that was far simpler than the current one.
But even memories were subject to fault.
Toris’ eyes swept the dining room once more. At the head of the table sat Secretary Honecker, East German head of state. To his right, Secretary Gorbachev. Next to him, of course, sat Ivan. Other East German Politburo members and their wives rounded out the gathering. Ivan had gone over their names during their flight from Moscow to East Berlin, but Toris was too preoccupied with not throwing up as the plane dipped and climbed during its turbulent trip.
They were there for the eleventh congress of the Socialist Unity Party. Well, Ivan was. And Gorbachev. Toris was brought along to act as Ivan’s security detail. As always.
Even at the dinner party. He kept to the room’s perimeter. Occasionally stealing a moment to check the rest of the house for “threats.” Really it was a chance to sneak a shot of vodka or a quick smoke. There was no need for additional security. The Waldsiedlung compound, which housed the most senior state leaders, had that covered. Nicknamed Wandlitz after the nearby town, the compound existed as its own walled utopia in the lush forests north of East Berlin. In addition to the wall that, Toris thought, greatly mimicked the much larger one surrounding West Berlin, troops from the Stasi’s paramilitary wing kept the grounds under tight guard. Didn’t want ordinary East German citizens discovering what luxuries their leaders indulged in. Even Toris managed to relax a little as he and Ivan secretly enjoyed the amenities of the elite – tennis courts and a shooting range, a cinema and department store that only sold Western goods. Ivan was bound to denounce it all the moment the dinner ended and they were on their way back to the guest house, but Toris saw the smile spreading across his lips as he did backstrokes in the pool that afternoon.
“Join me for a smoke?” a voice said from behind, making Toris jump.
“Dammit, Gilbert.”
The Prussian’s face appeared in his periphery. Toris could practically feel the grin radiating off him.
“Is that a yes?”
Toris feigned disinterest. “We’re supposed to be on duty.”
Gilbert clicked his tongue. “Like that’s stopped you.”
Toris watched him from the corner of his eye.
“C’mon, Liet. Two of my guys can cover for us. ‘Sides, I got something I know you’ll like.”
“And what might that be?”
“You’ll have to come with me, to find out,” Gilbert teased.
Toris took another look at the guests. Everyone was deep in conversation – talking, smiling, enjoying their drinks. Even Ivan.
Gilbert nudged his shoulder.
“All right,” Toris whispered.
The Prussian’s grin widened. He signaled behind him. Two guards appeared, as if condensing from the surrounding air. Toris shuddered, glad the light was dim, and followed Gilbert out.
Wispy clouds streaked the evening sky, pulling their veil over the setting sun, its ember glow softening in pale oranges and purples. The black pavement shimmered beneath in bronze and silver. A rainstorm had passed while they’d been inside. A damp chill hung in the air.
Gilbert lit a cigarette the moment his foot was outside. He handed Toris his pack and lighter.
“Marlboros.”
“Only the best Western tobacco for our glorious Eastern leaders,” Gilbert said sardonically. “Let’s go for a walk.”
Gilbert shoved his hands in his pockets, only to pull them out moments later to return a salute from a couple of passing guards.
“Fuck,” he muttered, shoulders rounding. The spark that lit his face the dining room had noticeably dimmed. And Toris knew why.
Gilbert had been put in charge of his government’s secret police. A role he never much relished but one he carried out as only his duty-bound nature would allow. And it was the only way to ensure his cooperation. Gilbert was not like the other satellite states. Whereas Erzsebet and Feliks were content to live the proletarian life among their citizens, Gilbert was the perpetual soldier. He needed structure, command, discipline, or else his misdirected energy would have erupted in chaos. Therefore, the only way to keep him in check was to grant him some measure of power, perverse as it was.
They walked on a few silent moments. The streets were deserted, save for them. Everyone was at the dinner party.
The street ended at an intersection, beyond which stood a small forest. A path was just visible through the opening in the trees. Gilbert made his way toward it. Toris followed, tossing away his cigarette, drawing a deep breath the moment he was under tree cover. A wistful smile crossed his face as he gazed up at the canopy above. A cathedral of wood and greenery. The branches like rib vaulting. The leaves like stained glass.
An even light lit the forest as twilight fell. The shadows of night had yet to emerge as they traipsed through the undergrowth. All evidence of suburban paradise faded away. No streets, no lights, no houses. Toris felt himself grow taller with each stride. His stretched, back straightening with another slow inhale. He removed his cap, scratching his fingers over his scalp as locks of brown hair, free from their binding, tumbled down around his face.
Gilbert came to a halt and turned. A dark green wall stood in front of them, nearly camouflaged by the undergrowth. It stretched in either direction, running the perimeter of the forest.
“I’m surprised Ivan didn’t have you cut it,” Gilbert said, gesturing at the Lithuanian’s hair.
“He’s mentioned it. Several times.”
Gilbert smirked. “He likes it too much.”
Toris glanced away. Suddenly the forest canopy seemed a whole lot closer. The tall feeling he’d had moments before was fading.
“If all you wanted was a smoke and to talk about my hair, we could have stayed at the house.”
Gilbert dropped his cigarette. It hissed out on the wet ground.
“Why’d you drag me out here?” Toris pressed.
“I thought you’d like the walk.” Gilbert shrugged. “Or maybe I’m just…sick of walls.” He aimed a petulant glare at the one in front of them. “You and I — we’re not made to be kept inside. We need this.” Eyes lifted heavenward, to the cathedral of leaves. “You felt it, didn’t you?” An earnest look, almost pleading. “It feels right. Being out here.”
“Yes,” Toris said softly. “But things are different now.”
Gilbert sniffed, wiping the back of his hand across his nose. The curve of his cheek glistened.
A gentle wind tugged at their uniform sleeves. A subtle reminder. They really ought to return.
Toris tucked his hair back under his cap. Gilbert kicked the wall with the toe of his boot. Above them, the leaves twisted and swayed like hands, inviting.
They left the woods in silence. Toris felt himself catapulted back to the present the moment they emerged. Houses and cars – all of suburbia – screamed at him under the electric glare of streetlights.
Gilbert fished his last cigarette out of his pocket. They shared it as they walked along the empty street, their booted heels scuffing the pavement. Neither was in any hury to get back.
“I got a new radio,” Gilbert said.
“Oh? And what did that cost you?” Toris asked, thinking of the Western store in the village
Lips unwound in a mischievous grin – one that revealed he had not paid a cent for his new radio.
“You’re despicable.”
Gilbert waved the comment away. “They were a couple of Wessies. Students. Tryin’ to sneak stuff in for black market sales.”
“Hm. I’ll bet they shit themselves silly.”
“You have no idea. I swear, border patrol beats the hell out of this state dinner crap any day.”
Gilbert finished the cigarette as they reached the house. “You should come over. We could listen to it. That is, if you can ditch dear old Vanya.”
Toris glanced at the door. The sound of a piano and singing could be heard.
“Shouldn’t be a problem.”
Ivan was most likely a few drinks in by this point, Toris thought. He would be useless in the morning.
“Tomorrow, then?”
Gilbert grinned. “Tomorrow.”
.
.
.
Toris paced in front of the guest house gates, half expecting to be summoned back any moment. A part of him hoped it would happen. Except Secretary Gorbachev was not likely to need him for anything. Besides, the Secretary preferred to use his own men. Toris was only there because of Ivan.
He looked back over his shoulder, back at the guest house. Did anyone even care he wasn’t there? Ivan hardly noticed his extended absence last night. And the Russian was deep asleep when Toris checked that morning. He knew from past experiences that Ivan would keep to his room the day after any celebration. But that knowledge did nothing to allay the twisting in the pit of his stomach.
Toris drank a cup of coffee before leaving. The serving staff paid him no mind as they bustled about their morning routines. He learned long ago to move with a sense of purpose and power to negate suspicion. Back straight. Eyes forward. Head level. People were less likely to bother you if you looked like you couldn’t be bothered with them. It granted a certain degree of anonymity, a freedom to come and go as he pleased. It was a power Toris knew not to abuse. And he was all too aware of how suspicious he might look, standing outside the guest residence, if Gilbert didn’t hurry the fuck up and show soon.
At that moment, the hammering sound of an engine could be heard echoing in the still morning air. Toris glanced back at the house, sure the racket was bound to bring someone outside. None emerged.
A car appeared at the end of Tschaikowskistrasse. The yellowing color of spoiled milk, it rattled toward the guest house gate.
Gilbert pulled up, grinning from the driver’s side window.
“What took so long?” Toris hissed.
“I had to make a pit stop,” Gilbert said, motioning at the back seat. On it rested a case of beer. “I doubt Ivan let you bring anything.”
Toris shook his head. “It wouldn’t have been good anyway.”
“Trust me, this is not my best work either. Are you gettin’ in or what?”
The engine gave a loud clank.
“Is it…safe?”
“Only the GDR’s very best,” Gilbert smirked, thumping a hand on the side of the car.
Toris opened the door and slid in, wincing as his knees knocked into the dashboard. He and Gilbert sat shoulder to shoulder in the tiny, two door coupe.
Again Toris looked at the house, his gut churning with excitement and nerves.
“Everything okay?” Gilbert asked.
“Yeah – no. Fine. It’s fine. Could we just go already?”
Gilbert shifted the car into gear. “You didn’t clear it with him, did you?”
“I shouldn’t have to,” Toris muttered.
“You want a beer?”
Toris reached in the back, popping the top off a pilsner as the car drove from the guest house.
“I miss that farmhouse ale you used to make,” Gilbert said.
“…So do I.”

Notes:
The title is in reference to the Bruce Springsteen song “Glory Days”
Waldsiedlung was the secure housing zone for leaders of the GDR. Nicknamed Wandlitz for the village nearby, the people of East Germany had no idea it existed or what luxuries their leaders lived in. It was surrounded by a fence proclaiming it to be a wildlife research facility. There was an interior wall beyond that. The community had, among other things, a cinema, restaurant, and department store that specialized in selling western goods. It was guarded by the paramilitary unit of the Stasi (East German secret police).
The official guest house of the GDR was called Niederschoenhausen. Located in the Pankow district of East Berlin, it was the former Baroque palace of Schoenhausen.
Gil’s car is of course a Trabi (Trabant)
Lithuanian farm house ale - there’s a great beer brewing tradition in Lithuania that, until recently, has largely gone unnoticed by the rest of the world. During Soviet occupation, beer, like everything else, was heavily relegated and home brewing was outlawed.
