#garry's mod #gmod #source engine #half life 2 #deathmatch #remaster #hearted #i covered this map 2 years ago (to the day) in 2022! but it's so good that i wanted to give it another pass #the cozy winter atmosphere is still there and i still very much love this map #the gigantic piles of powder surrounding buses parked in the middle of the street. flanked by cars covered up to the wing mirrors in snow #there is a part of me that finds joy in the idea of being cataclysmically “snowed in” despite the logistical headaches that come with it #it's the part of me that also found joy in pandemic lockdowns that i had to downplay. in being *expected* to stay at home no matter what #i think i selfishly want more of that. which is why i still feel more excitement than annoyance in the preparation for a winter storm #it does not help that i worked customer service through the beginnings of the pandemic & never really had the experience people lamented #anyway! i'm a winter dude and i love this map a lot

I know my experience is not universal, but I biked 5+ miles to do my errands today and I genuinely think we'd be much happier as a human collective if we increased residential density and switched to largely alternative modes of transportation.

#I don't know /how/ you'd do it exactly but this is my vision:#all cars are kept outside a certain perimeter. you can own a car and rent your outside-the-city parking spot;#or you can just reserve/rent a communally owned car when you need one #trucks and deliveries can cross the perimeter on a job but after the work is finished they must be returned to the exterior #inside the city perimeter you can: walk or run; bike or scooter or skateboard #or you can take public transit! there are many more buses and they can move much more freely in a car-less environment #there is also the option of cabs but - and this is key - the cabbies are unionized and the service is public #like the trains and buses.#there is no privately-controlled transit in the city. it belongs to everyone.#and because the lines of parked cars disappear from the streets; they are much better utilized #more kids play in the street. more block parties. more street fairs.#take back the space!!!#anyway this is my vision.#celestial emporium of benevolent knowledge

Alright apparently I’m now outnumbered in my small office for not carrying anything defensive like pepper spray, a taser, or a metal baton every day.

Please excuse the lighting and the messy bg (I'm in the process of moving in), but I got catcalled by a group of 8 dudes at a gas station today (I ignored them but they called me 'catgirl' bc my hat has cat ears. I think it was regular sexism and not transphobia), and when I went to a Ruby Tuesdays to have dinner with my mom, I was told that a couple of the waitresses were checking me out (and one apparently flirted with me which I didn't realize until later!).

So, yeah, I figured I'd post a pic bc I must've chose a great outfit today

I'm really not a video games person (really not.) but Kentucky Route Zero and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine are two of my favorites---specifically because of their settings and the way it seeps through the narrative. I've been in and through so many verging-on-nowhere, USA, places that I'm weak for that vibe, the strange and marginal magic of it.

Tell me why the last bus to the train station is an hour before my train. And why the bus after that is three hours after my train. What the fuck is that about.

#I hate the public transport in this city it’s so useless it’s so unreliable #half the time the buses come five minutes early and don’t wait. which means that even if you get your timings correct to schedule you miss #them. and then they go ‘oh to correct it we’re sending the next bus five minutes later’ what? why? how does that help me?!#I hate that two singles is cheaper than a return.#I hate that if you’re in town for less than an hour or if there’s more than one of you it’s cheaper to drive and park than get the bus #I hate that half the time the ‘live map’ on the app with the live timetable is just blatantly wrong #I hate that the buses to the surrounding villages are so indirect and so infrequent #I was calculating how to get to a class I teach by bus last year when my car was out of service #and a drive that takes me 14 minutes would have take me 48 minutes by bus because I’d have to change over twice #I hate when people say I’m lucky to live in a place with good public transport when it’s really not got #and also all run by private companies who are only in it for the money. we should really think about nationalising public transport

am actually gonny get sacked because my manager is the most annoying and stupid person ever and whenever she asks me to do something stupid and annoying (minimum once a shift) i cant help but be rude and bitchy back....Actually think we're all kind of unsackable due to no staff but yknow. I get scared

#i am getting anew job this year 🙏🙏🙏 manifesting me being able to complete a job application #made me and my coworker go out this morning to. grit the car park #and we hadn't finished picking for ppls orders (my actual job)#so i was like i havent finished my actual job yet & if u send me out there i wint have time to do other stuff that really helps with um.#customers not having like half their orders be subsitutes etc #She was like stop being defensive (??) and do what ive told you.#ok girl just explaining so if you get complaints because someone had 5 missing items and 8 subsitutes 😂😂#also we have 1 shovel for grit and she sent 3 people to do it so me and my coworker were literally throwing grit around the car park with #our bare hands #and then couldnt take my break cos i had to do a Customer Service training refresher #in whcih she asked if there was anything stopping me from giving my best customer service. had to bite my toungue #Yes there is. YOU #actually deeply deeply embarrassing company to work for in every conceivable way
