You wanted to impress them.
You wanted to prove your worth in battle.
But things went far off the deep end.
It all began that one sunset evening.
As a Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer, you were a perfect match for the Grade 1 curse spirit lurking in the forest near an abandoned school rumored to be haunted after closing down due to allegations of murderous cover ups.
As you pulled down the Curtain, the cool winds blew at your hair, swaying along with your black attire, as the sun was setting for you exorcized the curse at last.
You were turning, ready to return to Haibara-kun who was waiting by the car parked out front, when you felt a stir in the air.
You sensed it further deep in the thicket.
Another cursed spirit.
Small … but on the highest level.
Curiosity and cockiness came in, seeping into your being, compulsively drawn towards your next – spontaneous – assignment.
It was a tall skinny humanoid one, blood painting its skin, eating one of the few mangled teen corpses strewn about the splattered wrecked tents of the makeshift campsite.
"Forgive me. I couldn't save you all." You muttered, cursed energy pulsing through your legs. “I'll avenge you by exorcizing that curse.”
Then you chanted quietly.
“Emerge from the darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure."
With the barrier now placed; this one designed to keep curses in, you moved in.
With its eyes slowly turning to spot you bouncing off the branches, a swift blur dashing through the air, you warped right behind it, readying a blow right to its head.
But going toe to toe with a special grade cursed spirit on your own … you know it's not the same as it was before. But you were willing to take this golden opportunity.
Your fist blazing with cursed energy, ready to strike, even as —
The spike in its cursed energy went through the roof in that split second.
The atmosphere now pricked with that rotten flesh smog coming off its figure.
One that sprouted up to 10 ft tall.
Your cursed punch missed its mark.
Its sharpened hand going right into your side.
It was all a trap.
And you fell for it.
Hook line and sinker.
Your banshee cry startled the birds as you warped out of its grip, blood spraying out from the forced movement, skidding back on shaky limbs, its toxic touch seeping into your gash wound.
Flashes of white exploded in your mind.
The screams of your two mighty husband sorcerers were blowing out your eardrums.
Your vision was spotty but you felt the shift in its cursed presence spring forward through the air, barely dodging its swipe but feeling the tips of its claws scrape your stomach.
Deciding to draw it away, you became the injured bait, running for your life, warping out of its grab, ready to slam a kick down from above —
The sight of Satoru and Suguru bleeding and crumpled before you took its place. A twinge of fear stabbed your nerves — you were socked hard from the side, paralyzing your cranium, warping in your dazed state right before slamming into a tree.
Covering your ears in futility at the intrusive fake voices invading your eardrums, you squeezed your eyes over your unwillingness to see their gutted crimson painted selves.
"Don't leave us here!"
Toru.
"How could you leave us behind!?"
Sugu.
"It's not real. They're not here. They can hold their own. Even against bastards like you." You growled under your breath, keeping your eyes shut. "Don't see. Don't hear. Just feel."
Sniffing the air as cursed energy heightened your nostrils, you followed its putrid stench and nothing else. Trusting your sense of smell by amplifying it to near max — your limit.
Yet the debilitating toxins were slowing you down. You were getting lightheaded as blood trailed down your side and leg from that open wound. The punches and kicks you managed to land on it were barely making a dent on this creep.
This curse was sapping you of your strength, your swiftness, and your stability at an alarming rate. All you could do was dodge and weave. But didn't stop the onslaught of punches, kicks and slashes littering your body.
Those normal – now dead – teens were just fodder to it.
Now that you; a sorcerer, was in its domain, you became its toy. It would kill you. But first, it would take its time and play with you, prolonging its enjoyment as long as possible, wearing you down until you broke …
Down at the nearby rural town, outside a combini, a bespectacled man just stepped out, throwing away the wrappings of his just finished sandwich, turning to where the foul energies were resonating, seeing the barrier among the thicket of trees …
Curled into the ground, gashes, bruises and blood painted your now immobile body, keeping your head to the ground when you suddenly sensed a trusting presence slipping inside the veil, looming above you, followed by the anguished roars of the special grade collapsing.
"Don't let it hit you … its toxins can make you hallucinate … and can mimic voices." You rasped out the warnings, coughing out blood in the process, when his folded work jacket was pressed into your hands then against your crimson dripping side.
"Understood. Keep pressure on that wound. You've lost enough blood already." You choked out a sob of relief at that low rumbling voice.
Kento Nanami.
A fellow Grade 1 sorcerer. A dependable comrade and a close friend. One of incredible proficiency. Extremely precise aim. Evades with clever maneuvers. Reinforced body with cursed energy.
Tying his spotted tie around his fist, he went into Overtime. With his now stained clothed blunted sword in hand, Nanami struck in as many weak spots as he could create on that titan.
The red and black sparks of Black Flash streaking right off him to chop off its enormous arm.
His words were ringing in your ears as he revealed his hand intentionally to raise his power levels.
Slashing weak points in the surrounding pine trees, he follows it off with diving in to cleave off its legs by the knee.
Bringing it face down to ground level just to cleave its head in two horizontally.
Releasing both his binding vows to enact that single blow, Nanami's extension technique Collapse activated, causing those pine trees to come tumbling down to bury it for good measure.
Scooping you up at breakneck speed, you two got clear of the fallen debris, slipped through the decaying barrier.
Neither of you sensed it any more.
Nanami's eyes bore great disappointment down upon you from on high. "And here I thought you were better than to emulate those two's recklessness."
You felt your pride crack, your ego bruise, and your shame boosted over Nanami-san's disapproval when you felt yourself blacking out and your form became limp too quick for his liking.
Nanami's exasperated, panicking face getting all up in yours, his shouting going mute in your ringing ears, occurred before it all went dark.
❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
Hastily calling Nitta-san to send the proper authorities to handle post cleanup in those woods, Nanami kept pressure on your wound in your stead as he situated you two carefully in the backseat as Haibara stepped on it; his wary eyes peeking in the rearview mirror now and then just so he wouldn't crash the car.
Watching in dismay as the only signs of you still alive was your little shifts of discomfort paired with frail mumbling, calling out for your loves, as fear worked its way to the front of your mind.
Hurriedly calling Shoko immediately after to meet them at the foothills of Mount Mushiro where the screeching halts of the car's tires skidded to an almost collision at the first torii gate.
The backseat was tainted red as Nanami tossed his stained business jacket aside then undid the buttons of your uniform jacket then tugged up your undershirt enough to show your biggest wound, allowing Shoko to lean over and work.
“What a way to spend my night." She huffed, concentrating as pure white light emanated off her hands and over your wound.
"She's lost a lot of blood already on top of fractured broken bones. And hallucinogenic, auditory ailments are still in effect even when curse has been exorcized." Nanami added, brooding from the added severity of the situation.
"What the hell, L/n?” Shoko heaved heavily, shedding sweat. "That curse's toxins are still in her system. It's making it difficult to fully heal her.” She was able to seal up your side wound though. “That will have to do for now. We need to move her."
"I'll join you all once I park the car." Haibara informed them, quickly leaning over from the driver's seat to kiss Nanami.
Nanami's tender gaze came Haibara's way before he got out of the car, carrying you, carefully treading up the steps, Shoko shutting the car door and hurrying behind him, with Haibara driving off and Nanami's bloody business jacket left discarded on the back seat.
Shoko spent the late night hours repairing your damaged self, collapsing over the metal surgical table from the overtime stress, panting from her energy spent. Blood pumped into a vein on your arm via the cannula connected to the drip. And your shallow breathing toppled with a cold sweat only made her push herself further as she squeezed your hand to keep you as grounded as possible and you continued murmuring the guys names in raspy, pleading whispers.
A harried Nanami patted Shoko's forehead with a clean spare rag lying on a counter while Haibara gave her a water bottle to hydrate.
Coming in and out of consciousness, tugged between horrish illusions and bleak reality, your once weakened pulse grew stronger as Shoko's RCT filled you, pushing the toxins out of your system.
So when you finally awoke, faded scars and bruises dotted your skin, front and back, leaving you groaning weakly as you clutched your pounding head. You felt like a truck had run you over.
"About time you woke up. Those fear toxins should be leaving your system now. But it did make healing you quite taxing for me. We can continue your checkup in the afternoon when we've both rested. But I could really use a drink right now.” Shoko apathetically griped as she carefully pulled the IV out of your arm just to place a cotton ball sticking to a bandage over the small leaking prick.
“Sorry about that, Shoko.” Feeling her gloved hand holding your still sore one, you barely squeezed back. "I failed to exorcize that special grade … I'm sorry I made you all overwork because of my screw-up." Your guilt stricken face struck their hearts.
"Nitta-san made sure the bodies were collected … what was left of them. Just count yourself fortunate that the curse was just dragging it out when I arrived. Never underestimate them." Nanami chastised you at the end, his goggles currently off, sternness laced in his eyes.
"Please … don't tell the guys. It's bad enough I couldn't exorcize it by myself. If they find out, they'll never let me live this down. Satoru especially." You weakly pleaded, struggling to sit up but able to get up on your bum as Haibara pulled you up.
"They'll find out sooner or later. And there'll be hell to pay if you choose to omit it from them. I will not partake in that sort of nonsense." Nanami griped, dreading the world flipped on its axis once your husbands found out.
"They'll never want to leave my side after this! They're already dealing with workloads of missions as is! Adding this to their pillars of stressful shit … I just need to be right as rain ASAP."
"No such thing as stress free in our line of work." Shoko bluntly stated.
"Gojo-san and Geto-san would be heartbroken if you kept this from them." Haibara frowned, personally wounded.
"They'd be even more wrecked that this happened and they weren't there to stop it …" Anxious guilt raked your bones.
A hand plopped into your hair, brushing it gingerly. “Your foolish pride as a sorcerer better be worth it if you're prepared for what will come of this endeavor." Nanami's foreboding didn't stop you from embracing him around his waist, pressing your face in his stomach, humming as Haibara gently hugged you from behind, and Shoko smiled nonetheless at the cute scene, especially at Nanami's sternness lessening and patting your head some more.
Still too out of it to walk on your own, you were pushed out in a wheelchair by Haibara, straight back to the dorms, stating he would stay in the room beside yours in case you needed any aid for the night, needing to head out in the morning alongside Nanami.
Carrying your ruined uniform clothes in the recyclable bag Shoko kept them in, you set them aside as you limped about to change into familiar comfier PJs you kept on hand in your old dorm room closet whenever you had to crash at the school grounds.
Pulling your phone out of the zip lock bag it was kept in thanks to Shoko too, you had seen it was still on.
They had been messaging you all night. Notifications of your group chat popping up on your lock screen.
But you just … felt too ashamed and embarrassed to reply back.
So you turned it off.
Without them smushing you between them tonight, there was no comforting warmth keeping you safe and sound.
And the aftermath of those horrific illusions and their copycats speaking during and post battle still lingered in your memory. Tittering between life and death, you were trapped within your worst nightmare yet.
Their disapproving glares.
Their cold voices.
Turning their backs on you as they walked into the foggy embrace of bloodshed against your voiceless cries and your wavering hand fruitlessly reached out into nothingness.
So going back to sleep was the last thing you wanted.
But even so, being in your old single dorm bed, your quiet sobs swarmed the room, your pent up agony painting your pillow in tears, stewing internally over wanting to suffer your follies alone versus wishing more than anything to have Toru and Sugu embracing you to chase all those bad dreams and fears away like they have always done.
Your phone stayed isolated on the small wooden bedside table, plugged in and charging. In silence.
Meanwhile, in a hotel, nestled in the Saitama prefecture that lies above Tokyo…
"Well, the twins are sleeping. Their mission definitely exhausted them both." Suguru softly informed, returning to his partner's side after checking on the girls in the room across from theirs.
A pouty Satoru groaned miserably, splayed out like a moody pancake across the bed, puppy eyes trained on his phone. "Suguru~! She's not answering me~!”
Now splayed out beside him on their shared hotel bed, Suguru ruffled Satoru's poofy hair. "Perhaps she's sleeping."
"She always answers me though! She didn't even send me a cute kitty gif~! The injustice!" Satoru cried, shoving his phone screen right in his best friend's face.
Suguru pushed Satoru's phone aside, pulled out his own from his sweatpants and sent a heart your way. And yet, it was not even read on your end. His forehead creased with worry. "No response for me either … I do hope nothing bad has happened.”
Satoru slung an arm around Suguru's neck, pulling himself snug against him, frowning vividly. "I miss her."
Suguru plopped his cheek atop Satoru's noggin. "So do I. The sooner we finish here with our own cases, the sooner we can have her in our arms again. Until then," Suguru brushed aside Satoru's snowy bangs to smooch his velvety forehead, tenderly grinning. "We'll just have to keep each other company~"
Now that piqued Satoru's intrigue, cheekily giggling as he rolled them over so the raven head could straddle him. “Nothing wrong with that~”
Suguru quickly turned the side table lamp off before engaging in a long, sensual make out with his smirking mate, whisking the night away.
❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
Your new strategy going forward?
Keep your phone off.
Give off the illusion of still being out in the field, doing assignments far off in the distance.
Stay locked up in your old room except for Shoko's treatments and bathroom breaks.
Until you were all patched up; no visually alarming marks blemishing your skin, you wouldn't let any aside from those that already knew find out.
Not your students.
NOT your men.
By the time you had awoken, Haibara had already left as informed. His sticky note he left on your bedside table with morning greetings and hopes to see you soon followed by a scribbled smiley face did turn your frown upside down.
But it meant you were the only one left in the dorm as your throbbing self painstakingly grabbed some long sleeved apparel outta the closet and changed before putting on some slippers. It was fall now, slowly transitioning to winter, so it was the perfect cover up to be snugly dressed.
You had just gotten outside when you noticed the trio heading to the torii gate exit.
Yuji sniffing the air was what alerted you; skidding to a halt as he was literally across from you on the other side of the long stone pathway, turning to eye you with an unpleasant awkwardness. Running over, his nose dove in closer to get a deep long whiff of you to your jitteriness.
He was your best student in terms of enhancing his senses to their peak with cursed energy. And one you cherished like your own pride and joy. Your pure son.
“L/n-sensei … you're injured. And you look restless. Did something happen?” His eyes became glassy saucers.
Your game plan was on the rocks now. Super human senses at work!
“Hey! The sooner we finish our mission from that blindfolded madman, the sooner I can get to shopping! So move it! No offense, sensei!” Nobara snapped out loud, waiting by the gate, curious what was occurring but impatient to wrap things up for her own reasons.
“Cone on Itadori! We're burning daylight!” Megumi coaxed.
“Alright alright, I'm coming!” Yuji's voice then softened for just you two to hear. “Sensei, whatever’s going on, just … take it easy, okay?”
Your heart swelled at his considerate caring nature like the precious boy he is, smiling thankfully. “I will. Thanks.”
“Welcome back.” That genuine smile of relief and joy of Yuji's almost made you tear up; your swelling up heart touched by his words, doing your best to smile through the soreness as you waved at the boy, saluting back to you, joining his friends, and heading off.
You started uncomfortably limping on your way the moment you students were out of eyesight. Shoko met you halfway, presenting a new wheelchair for you to make traversing more easier. “Sorry but Nanami-kun wanted me to remind you to work on your report about last night. We can head to the faculty office first. Besides, you look ready to topple over.”
You internally groaned at the stingy procedures, expected to recount your near death experience down to the last detail; literally occurring just last night, sending a grateful look her way. “What would I do without you, Shoko?”
“Let's just say I'm better off with you in my life … and I know I'm not the only one.” Apathy gave way to relieving passion in her gaze that you looked away to brush your wet eyes. And you both left it at that as she wheeled you the rest of the way.
Flash forward to some time later …
“I can't believe you going gung ho back there cost me my chance to hit up that sale at my new favorite boutique, you boneheaded idiot!” Nobara bit out.
“Okay okay, I get it! Go easy on my shoulder, Kugisaki!” Yuji yelped in pain at how much she was fussing as she and Megumi helped him walk since he took the brunt of the hits in their latest mission.
“Always ready to put yourself on the line for us … we can handle ourselves, you know, doofus.” Megumi was less harsh, making sure not to hit his shin against Yuji's stabbed one; wrapped in the torn sleeve of Yuji's uniform to stop the bleeding.
Yuji noticed the tender gaze his spiky haired friend gave him, smiling in recognition, chuckling sheepishly. “Protective instincts, I guess.”
“Serves you right, idiot.” Though Nobara and Megumi spoke such mocking words, they were softly spoken, still irked but also grateful they're all still standing.
The moment the trio splurged through the morgue door, spotting your bare back littered with bumps and wide slash marks had them faltering as their short beloved teacher and practically mother figure was in this state.
“WHAT THE HELL?!”
Their unified exclaims startled Shoko enough to press too hard on a red welt on your forearm, causing your excruciating shout.
You slapped your palms over your mouth, mortified at legit blowing your cover out loud.
Due to the fact that Shoko at the moment got a sudden phone call while examining you.
From THEM.
“Shoko, what was that?” Suguru demanded.
“Sounds like a wounded animal!” Satoru exclaimed.
“Takes one to know one. I have work to get back to. Bye bye~” Shoko's false perky jab reverts back to her usual demeanor after hanging up on them. “I would say stay hidden until everything settles down but I'd be lying. I know 25 mins away means those two lunatics will floor it by the end of the day. I wish you the best of luck, my dear.” Her sympathetic pat on your shoulder did not calm down those anxious belly butterflies.
“I knew you were hurt but … OKASAN WHO DID THIS TO YOU!?” Yuji's own wounds were forgotten as he scrambled over to you, blubbering out waterfalls, throwing off everyone by legit calling you mom out loud but too overwhelmed to notice right away.
You pulled your shirt back down, flushed in shame. “Special grade got the upper hand on me. Nanami-san saved me. Sorry to have you three see me like this. So please … keep this between us? Please?” You literally prayed for it.
“For my favorite sensei, my lips are sealed.” Nobara assured.
“Geto-sensei may be less hysterical … Gojo-sensei not so much … but those two together … oh God.” Megumi paled up at the reality.
“The calm …” Nobara ominously started.
“Before the shit storm.” Megumi drearily ended.
“Uh, while I'm not a big fan of keeping things from Gojo-sensei, if it's what you want, then I'll do it.” Yuji, skeptical but willing to make you happy, blushed pink as you embraced him loosely due to you still not being at full strength yet.
“Thank you.” You weeped.
Megumi, Nobara and even Shoko joined in on that hug.
Meanwhile, back in Saitama, again, nestled outdoors in front of a patisserie.
“That was suss as hell.” Gojo lowly rumbled, sitting under the umbrella covered table on one end, stuffing his last – now smooshed – Maneki Usagi Manju from his hands straight to his mouth.
“We know that shout all too well …” Geto's eyes teemed with cynicism, sitting across from him, sipping Sayama tea in one hand, his phone in the other.
Their mentality synced, restlessness in their bones, their six senses flaring up with red alerts.
Something did happen to you.
Something big.
Something bad.
With their cases long since finished; not surprising, their leisure time was spent sightseeing, tasting the treats the places they visited had to offer. Meaning more sweets for Gojo to savor. However, his gut along with Geto's twisted at the thought of you in trouble.
“Girls, gather your things. We're heading back now.” Geto firmly spoke while speed dialing Ijichi-san to come pick them up.
The twins, sitting at the table beside theirs, stopped taking selfies of themselves with their cutely decorated drinks at his announcement. “Yes, Papa~!”
Throughout the ride back to the school; Ijichi-san fidgeting and sweating bullets at his seniors stewing in silence, panicked thoughts raced through the duo's minds.
The one constant that kept coming up?
Whatever was going on with you …
They were getting to the bottom of it.
❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
The sky changed from blue and calm to orange and warm.
Getting healed by Shoko before being ushered out to continue healing you, the trio crashed in the common room slash longue when the sight of Nanako and Mimiko waving and smiling as they entered with bags of gifts and snacks to share and give had the trio beaming at the twins safe return.
However, the sight of their teachers coming round the corner into view, radiating such potent agitated auras, sent the trio's hearts racing in dread.
It spelled the first sign of doom.
Gojo zipped up right to them, a wide ass smile on his face, waving with bags of souvenirs on the other arm, cheerfully greeting them all.
“Oh my precious students~! Your esteemed adoring sensei has returned! And I come bearing gifts for you all! As thanks for a job well done! But on the condition that you answer me truthfully! Do you happen to know what our dear Y/n has been up to as of late~?”
“Nope.” Megumi kept a straight face.
“Nada.” Nobara is the same.
“We know nothing.” Yuji as well.
Their calm blunt responses had Geto narrow his eyes at their stoic behavior, the twins shuffling to him in nervousness at the tense situation, and Gojo's fake smile fell, becoming so straight faced. “Hmm … okay then. Hold these, please and thanks.”
Dropping their bagged gifts into their arms, Gojo warping away was the second sign.
Appearing again before them, with a squirming distressed you in his arms, was the final nail in the coffin.
Gojo hastily set you down, firmly grabbed your sweater sleeve covered hand, and tugged that sleeve up to your shoulder. Even with the blindfold on, you could picture his Six Eyes shrinking to dots at the colorful splotches and littering your once unblemished skin.
“What the hell?” Gojo's shaky raw voice had you gulping.
“How did … when did … Y/n explain yourself!” Geto's perturbed face turned to aggravation.
Keeping your head ducked, you could picture their eyes bearing those same cold, disappointing glazes those curse's nightmares forced you to bear. Your state of panic got triggered!
You wince in pain, trying in vain to tug your hand free of Gojo's iron hold. Warping into the morgue, literally sweeping you off your feet, greeting Shoko, then warping out of the morgue all meant your recovery got cut short.
"Hey! Where do you think you're going!?" Gojo jested, pulling your back against his front, caging you in his hold, knowing to restrain himself on the pressure, gritting his canines at seeing those same colorful marks on the back of your neck. “You better start talking.”
"You mustn't strain yourself any more, either! You can barely walk as is!" Geto irritatedly griped, wrapping his arms around your other one, leaving you wobbling, therefore needing either of them as counterbalance.
"I'll be fine! I'll get better! I'm innocent!" You babbled desperately, wiggling like a worm, to your utter dismay and their annoyance.
Geto narrowed his eyes, downtrodden. "Have you no shame, Y/n? And you three knew about this, didn't you?!” His eyes flared up with scorn as his face whipped to the trio, having all three flinch back at the irritated sight.
“And after all the trouble I went through to get you all gifts!” Gojo dramatically complained.
“Unnecessary to be honest.” Megumi dryly rebuttal.
“My tastes far exceed yours, anyway.” Nobara throwing shade.
“I'll take them all, thank you very much! I felt like telling you Gojo-sensei, I swear! But L/n-sensei was in pain and I just wanted to help her!” Yuji blabbed.
“Softie.” Mimiko and Nanako teased smugly.
“Yuji~!” Gojo weeped.
“I told them to keep quiet. Shoko and Haibara too. Nanami wanted no part in it. It was all my fault!”
Your pleas only riled them up more. Their eyes returned to you, burning intensely, straight into your soul as they cushioned you between their built bodies just like a mating press.
You gasped as Geto's hand slid under your top, his calloused touch sending anxious tingles through you, feeling that tender scar left on your side, lips trembling and eyes wavering. “Honestly believing you could pull the wool over our eyes, dearest? Ridiculous.” Geto belittled.
Gojo scoffed, suddenly frightening as he towered behind you, alarming everyone besides Geto as he pulled down his blindfold to stare down at you now with those glaring Six Eyes. "Screw that. This isn't panning out well for you, darling. Not at all.”
Your weak whines of protest made the teens cringe with pity. Your short self was literally trapped between giants. The atmosphere was so thick with tension that trying to cut it with a knife would mean getting obliterated. GoGe might as well be a bomb.
But to see tears swell up in your e/c eyes and trail down your cheeks, glistening from the guilt, embarrassment and pain, everyone in that room froze in paling realization.
You were the actual bomb.
And you just got set off.
"DON'T HATE ME!"
Your heartbroken scream had the strongest duo become the weakest. Their grips laxing, their tunnel vision eroding, their resolve dusting, as you pulled away freely, tugging your sleeve back down to cover the damage, sat down on the couch to your buckling knees relief, and cried in your tarnished hands, becoming a mess for them all to see.
"L/n-sensei no!!! Please don't cry!!!" Yuji went into a panicked frenzy, squatting down before you, frazzled as you bowed your head against his jacketed shoulder, rubbing your shoulders in an attempt to soothe you, sweating bullets at the sight of his once mighty teachers now becoming statues at this turn of events. "None of us hate you! It's okay! Everything's gonna be okay! R–Right guys?!”
"You two are the scum of the Earth, you are! Harassing an injured emotional woman!" Nobara yelled abhorrently in their stunned paled faces, pulling out tissues from her small flowered package she kept in her belt pack along with her cursed tools to offer you. “Here sensei. Take these.”
"I won't blame her if she files for divorce." Megumi gripes under his breath, sitting down beside you, timidly rubbing your back in comforting circles. "L/n-sensei, you need to calm down and rest."
“Geto-sama, do something about this! Mama is a wreck now!” Nanako was willing to put her foot down at this insolence.
“This is depressing.” Mimiko patted your head from behind the couch.
Your desperate need to melt into a puddle and just die from utter disgrace was dashed when you felt Gojo approaching.
His serious blazing eyes spoke for themselves to let him handle you himself, but those kids hesitated letting this slide when the gentle shushing of their usually obnoxious teacher threw them for a loop. Sitting down in the free space on your other side, gently brushing your hair, he leaned in to your ear to confess —
"I'm sorry." You stiffened at his words as they rumbled against your ear. While you were partly miffed and scared due to his attitude, his gentleness returning made you drawn to him all over again, recollecting how much you did miss him — miss them both actually cause OF COURSE YOU DO!!!
Weaving his hand through your hair, he carefully pulled your head to rest against his chest instead, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, a shaky vulnerability leaking into his voice. “I'm so sorry.” You dare set down your hands to see his eyes as glittery blue glass. "I shouldn't have snapped like that. I hate seeing you cry like this.” His wandering hand had his fingertips weave through yours to squeeze your hand benignly. “Especially when you're all banged up. I just …”
“I'm deeply sorry as well.” The moment Suguru sat down in Megumi's spot, the kids had already stood back and watched with anticipation as his arms gently hugged your waist from behind, kissing your blotchy cheek, regret radiating on his face. “We both shouldn't have approached you so harshly. We were out of line. We just …”
They were both at a loss for words.
Taking a chance, a risk, a leap of faith, you decide to tell them the truth, rather preferring for them to hear it from you than read it from a document.
“The other night … a special grade curse popped up just when I finished my case … I wanted to prove myself … I thought I could take it on … but Nanami saved me in the end. I was … ashamed … anxious … afraid. It showed me … illusions … nightmares … of you both suffering and abandoning me … and I panicked when you both got upset earlier … I just – !”
“You haven't properly rested at all.” Geto delicately gripped your chin and turned your face to see the dark circles under your now red eyes. “Beloved, you of all people should know that keeping your troubles bottled up inside does no one any good! Least of all hiding your pain from us when we can help!”
“You can't always be there for me … I can't keep weighing you down … but I can't hold my own when it really counts … I'm never gonna be at your level … even as a Grade 1 … by myself … I'm not good enough.” Your eyes squeezed shut, deep seated in this emotional turmoil.
“Yes you are!” The sharp conviction Satoru had made your eyes snap back open. It got your attention attentively. “We still think of them … Kuroi … Amanai … what we could have done differently or better … had we not failed them. If anything happened to you … and if we weren't there to stop it … and it already has … then what the hell’s the point in being the strongest when we can't protect those that matter to us the most?!” You shook as his tears hit your nose, rubbing his wet nose against yours with those beautiful blue eyes now red with compassion looking into yours, for even his watery smile is breathtaking. “You've never been weak. Not to any of us. You kept us together through all the shit thrown our way since that day. I don't need Six Eyes to tell me this truth … that you are the most beautiful, genuine, strongest soul I know you are inside and out.”
“You're the very reason I gathered the courage to reach out to everyone when my resolve wavered … when I lost my way … it's difficult to wear a heartfelt smile in this world …” Sugu's voice slipped for a moment, his almond eyes twinkling as his wet cheek nuzzled yours, pressing a timid kiss to the corner of your lips, another breathtaking smile amiss the waterfalls. “But you brought back my smile. You helped me find a better way … I'm no longer alone. So you don't get to be either. Not anymore.”
Unified, their cracked voices caved.
“We can't lose you too.”
You breathed in their natural scents, submerged in their warmth, coveted in their supportive treasuring embrace, their crying faces resting against either side of your neck, just to be as close to you as possible without hurting you more so than that curse and themselves already have.
In this moment of vulnerability, the strongest duo put down their guards just to show you how immensely you've always mattered to them. Your pain, your sadness, your doubts … they're theirs too.
Your hand that was still being held by Satoru weaved down to rub against Suguru's knuckles, drawing him in to lay his hand atop both yours. “I feel the same way.”
“But damn Y/n, you scared us shitless." Gojo sighed exasperated, now chewing and suckling hungrily on your red cheek just to hear your raspy squeals for their amusement.
"Immensely." Geto hummed conspiratory like, chewing and tugging on your other cheek for good measure, your squeaking making them smirk.
“I'm sorry!” You garbled out, mewling.
Suguru popped off your cheek, pecking it several times apologetically. “We're sorry too. We're just relieved that you're alive.”
Satoru popped off your cheek as well, smooching the welt left in his wake. “Still injured though, but I'll finish healing you myself.”
Catharsis finally came as your waterworks were one of relief. “I missed you both so much~!!!”
"Yosh, yosh~” Satoru doting on you, petting your head like the cutie you will always be in their eyes. “We missed our cutie patootie too~” Now that got you to smile at last, shedding tears of joy, as your chortled laughs made them smile as well.
The kids left you three a while ago when the mushiness kicked in. The twins giggled as Megumi summoned his wolf Shinigami for them to ride on so they could stop pestering him, right before he buried his bashfully blushing face in the crook of Yuji's neck who carried him and Nobara with ease from her own pestering, heading off to do whatever.
Now drained from the mental and emotional trip you went through, all you wanted now was sleep.
And to be honest?
So did the guys.
Your old dorm bed would make do just this once. For old times sake. Warping you three there was easier on an already wiped Gojo, anyway.
Their uniforms, boots, and socks along with your slippers littered the floor.
The AC hummed in the background.
And the drawls of moonlight slipped through the curtains.
Tepid flustered gasps left your parted lips as Satoru sensually trailed his smooth sly hand across every inch of your backside under your top, healing you from that point as you relaxed.
You smothered your face in Satoru's snug black tee covered pecs as he ran his fingers through your hair, languidly brushing it to further soothe you, pecking your forehead. “It wasn't the same without you.”
Suguru carefully splayed on top of you from behind, warmth seeping through his snug white tee and into your cloth covered back, heatedly breathing down your flushed nape as his veiny giant hand caressed your bare tummy underneath your top as well as stroking your thighs with his other hand. “Having you to cuddle again, all snug in between us, truly feels like heaven.”
“No angel to sleep with … oh how did we cope without you~?" Satoru ranted quietly as he could for your sleepy sake.
Suguru gave him a sly smirk. “Satoru~”
Satoru chuckled, ruffling Suguru's loosely free hair, before resting that hand on Suguru's lower back. “Okay, it wasn't bad at all. Even so… can I please just keep us in this moment and never let each other go ever again?” Satoru gently begged.
“As long as I can get some shut eye. And new uniform garbs.” Your cheek nuzzled his chest, consenting in a yawn.
“Deal.” With Six Eyes now switched off, Satoru became heavy-eyed at the sight of his two favorite people in bed with him. Back together again.
“No more bad thoughts for us tonight.” Suguru languorously rumbled in your ear.
“Plus those nightmares will get a kick in the balls if they come back.” Satoru grumbled drowsily.
“If it's a curse, sure. Dreams, not so much.” You mumbled softly.
Satoru could feel your body start to reach the end of its recovery from his healing touch, trailing his hand from your back to cover your hand that rested on the front of his shirt where his heart lay.
Suguru's own hand traversed, resting atop Satoru's, all three splayed on his chest in the same exact spot.
You sagged as you felt the weight of all that battle damage lift right off you, for all the pain got replaced with fuzzy tingling warmth.
Shivering with delight, you felt those two curling in on you from both sides, their legs tangling with yours, as you all smushed in the middle, with Suguru's face against your shoulder and Satoru's in your hair.
“Toru … Sugu … I love you guys.”
Satoru breathed in your scent, smiling drowsily. “We love you too … so damn much.”
"Truly. We'd be lost forever if we never knew you.” Suguru mused languidly.
A tiny smile formed as you succumbed to your long awaited dreamland. “I … feel … the same.”
And the kiddies, poking their heads through the crack in the slide doorway, eyed you snug between those two in just their tees and boxers, your entangled limbed cocoon, the bed comforter halfway touching the floor, as gentle snores and breathing made up your guys personal symphony.
Taking some snapshots for potential blackmail material; basically on Nobara and Megumi's part, they left you three to rest.
Of course, knowing you three, you'll stay in bed all day tomorrow. Whether to sleep, talk, cuddle, make out, do the devil's tango — nah it's all of the above! Meaning no classes.
The weekend is free.
To unwind and reflect.
Your old room feels more homely now that they're there with you.
That night, you’re gifted with cathartic, stress relieving dreams where those two awaited you with smothering embraces and enriching laughter.
Through their tough, imposing, and fierce exteriors …
There lay the true blessings that are their empathy, passion and humanity.
Your chaotically lovestruck sorcerers.
And you, their heaven sent wife, will feel their love till the very end.
And even beyond.
For Infinity.

Wrote this while I was waiting for my car to get its oil changed this morning
———
Donnie wakes up on his desk and pushes away without thinking, with violence, and his chair tips backwards and falls with him in it.
He barely feels it, the hard crash against the concrete floor, the way his hands scrape as he scrabbles back to his feet. He doesn’t care. All his thoughts, his feelings, physical and mental, are trapped back in that moment and that terrible, terrible snap-
Leo is gone.
No, he tells himself, it was a dream. Leo isn’t gone, they got him back. The snap was just a memory, somatic sensations that creep up on him from lack of sleep and lingering trauma. That’s the rational explanation. He tells himself this every time.
And like every time, he can’t believe it. It just felt too real.
He has to go see. Has to look in Leo’s room and see if he’s there, if he’s sleeping, but he won’t be because he’s gone-
Donnie takes a ragged breath and slams open the door of his lab.
He takes the steps down the escalator three at a time, jumping the last several feet. He sprints across the old platform to Leo’s train car, the old blue curtain hanging half open and swaying.
He throws himself through and stands in the middle of the empty room.
Leo is gone.
He’s not in his bed, not lounging in a beanbag, not going through his action figures and changing the poses. He’s not here.
He’s gone, and that terrible snap was real, the moment the portal closed and Donnie lost him forever. He crumbles to the floor, arms wrapped tight around himself, too shocked to even cry.
“…Dee?”
He jerks, looking back. A dark shape in the doorway, standing over him. It steps closer, and Donnie hikes his shoulders up and is about to let out a hiss, when he feels something soft and reassuring slot back into place.
The burning ozone feel of his brother’s ninpo wrapping around him.
“What’s wrong?” Leo, Leo, real and in front of him, crouches down and reaches out a hand. “Did you- oh, okay.”
Donnie cuts off the rest of Leo’s question, arms flung around him, clinging tight. Leo hesitates only a moment, but then he has his arms around Donnie, and even with the battleshell on, Donnie feels a deep relief.
“Hey, it’s okay,” says Leo softly. “You’re okay.”
Donnie almost laughs, because it’s not himself he’s worried about.
“You’re here,” he says, pulling Leo closer.
“Uh, yeah?” Leo chuckles. “It’s my room.”
“You left,” says Donnie.
“…Oh.” Leo sighs. “You had that dream, huh?”
“You left,” Donnie repeats. An accusation.
“I know. I’m sorry.”
That never makes him feel any better. “Don’t apologize, dum-dum,” he hisses, and Leo gives a ragged laugh. “Just… don’t leave again.”
“Yeah. Okay.”
They stay in the floor until Donnie’s heart calms back to an acceptable resting rate. Then Leo shifts, finds the release of his battleshell and clicks it. The shell falls off with a thump.
“Come on, I’m tired of sitting on the floor.” Leo takes Donnie’s hand and urges him to his feet. “Let‘s get in bed.”
Donnie stiffens. “I’m fine,” he says. A token protest.
“Dude, I found you crying. Don’t try to act cool on me now.” Leo tugs more insistently on his hand. “Come on.”
Donnie huffs, even as he follows Leo to the bed. “I wasn’t crying.”
“Sure,” says Leo placatingly. He lays out against his pillows, then pulls Donnie down next to him.
Despite his protests, Donnie settles in against Leo, ear over his heart. It’s alright. Leo is here.
Donnie will make sure he never loses him again.

Winter back home
Simon Riley x Reader
He has a problem.
He’s had problems all his life. He’s got a lot of experience in dealing with problems, really. The ones that can be solved with bullets, anyway.
This is not that kind of problem. Well, maybe a bullet could take care of this. But he promised himself he would never take that path. So, he suffers.
His problem is the dichotomy. His problem is Ghost, months of suffocating under a stale mask, the orders, the blood, the uniform. His problem is Simon, weeks of nothing, the silence, the civilian comfort, being a person.
He’s gone. Somewhere between base and “home”- a cold, dark flat in the outskirts of London-, he lost his soul. Now he isn’t here nor there. None of his names fit him.
He is just a being, two legs on top of two feet that can’t stand the feeling of dry, clean socks inside of simple sneakers. A head, a neck, on top of a pair of shoulders too wide to fit the door of normalcy. A back too tight to bear the weight of actual life. Hands too strong to hold reality without breaking it, skin so rough it tears instead of caressing. A pair of eyes that do not know where to look if not for threats.
He's a storm waiting to happen. Too dark to be a person, too broken to be a man. Too heavy for a ghost.
The flat feels wrong. Especially the first few days. He has to open the windows to let the fresh air in- more like freezing air. It’s okay, he’s used to dealing with the cold. It’s actually being comfortable what makes him uneasy. The fact that he has so much space for himself. He doesn’t have things. He doesn’t own more than a couple changes of clothes. His sofa looks new, even though he bought it years ago. His bed is soft, his bedside table is empty. He owns a table, two chairs and headphones. One bottle of water. Four glasses, a cheap six-piece cutlery set. Some plates he bought on sale. One rug he doesn’t step on. A broom. Shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste are in the bag he brings from base. Even his bike just takes up half his designated parking space.
Other than that, he has nothing.
The other thing that bothers him is the silence. He should be able to sleep in the quiet- he’s fallen asleep in active bombing zones, for God’s sake. But the white noise of the cars, the soft humming of the refrigerator- all they do is keep him awake. It’s always too quiet, too… Too safe. He knows it’s a trap. It always is.
That’s why he checks the windows.
Like now, when he enters the apartment in silence. The lights stay off until he’s cleared every room. Then he turns them all on. His duffel bag goes into the wardrobe, still closed. The boots under the bed. He changes into civilian clothes, checks the pantry- empty, always empty- and starts his rounds.
He checks the three windows: the small one in the bathroom, the one in the bedroom that looks over the neighbor’s rooftop, and the one in the living room. Usually, the last one is his favorite. The view lets him keep an eye on the street, alert in case there’s something suspicious lurking down there.
This time, though, he can’t look down.
He’s stuck in the window in front of his. The apartment building across the street is nicer than the one he’s standing in. By his standards, anyway. That means it looks warm and worn down. Brick walls instead of grey cement, wood stairs instead of metal. It has pots with flowers and an old mirror in the entrance.
There’s only one apartment with the lights still on. It’s late, he reminds himself, for normal people. Most of them are asleep at two in the morning.
You’re not. Through your open curtains, he can see your tired face. You’re curled up on a desk chair, with messy hair and reading glasses on. Your pajama is cute, it looks soft and a little too big. It fits you perfectly. You’re holding a steaming cup and frowning at the pile of papers on top of your desk.
When you fix the -presumably hand-knitted- blanket on top of your shoulders, he frowns. Aren’t you cold? You should close the window.
And go to bed, while you’re at it. What are you doing up this late, anyway? Working? He hopes not. A cute little thing like you should have a quiet job, with stable working hours and low stress. But you look very stressed. Maybe you’re studying. That’s it, probably. You don’t look his age, but he’d bet you’re in your late twenties, maybe thirties.
He pictures you getting a degree. It’s easy, you look smart. Oh, you must have a degree already. Surely, he decides, you must have one. You’re getting a doctorate now, aren’t you?
It’s a silly question, of course. He knows nothing about you, except that you should be sleeping instead of munching at a cookie. But it’s a relief to pretend he does. To believe he can see life through your window. If he had to guess, that’s what living looks like: a woman in the room, plans for the future, eating homemade treats and knowing you’ll survive the upcoming test, even if you don’t pass.
For the first time since he bought this place, he’s actually there. As if taking a deep breath, Simon is suddenly aware of his body. The t-shirt he’s wearing is soft, a little too thin for the weather. The place smells like leather- must be the sofa. Was the ceiling always this high? Simon makes a mental note to buy air freshener and a blanket.
It takes him a couple of days of staring out the window to realize what happened.
It’s Friday, and he’s checked your closed blinds for the third time this afternoon. Simon hasn’t seen you today. He sighs and turns around. He goes to open one of the kitchen drawers when it hits him.
There are cookies in there. Two different kinds. And he’s wearing slippers- they were on sale at the supermarket, and he didn’t even think about it. But he’s thinking about it now. Simon looks around. One of his jackets is hanging by the door. There’s lint on the rug. The cushions on the sofa are out of their place. He left a mug on the counter.
He's living again.
It a crushing discovery. Once he saw it, it’s impossible to miss. He made plans. He has tickets to watch a movie next Tuesday. When was the last time he planned something other than a mission? And cookies? Simon hasn’t eaten cookies since he enlisted. Maybe longer. His clothes are comfortable. Actually comfortable, he doesn’t need to ignore the fabric irritating his skin. The windows are closed: he’s not cold. It’s quite nice, honestly. And the place smells like someone lives here. A mix of cologne, tea and leftovers from lunch.
The flat doesn’t feel empty. Simon doesn’t feel empty.
His muscles give out. It’s not a dramatic fall, more like an extreme relaxation. It hurts a little; like clenching your fist for hours and then letting your hand open. The blood starts flowing back with a tingle. The oxygen gets where it is supposed to go. There is a strange open space in the palm of your hand.
The relieved smile is a side effect.
He still wears it when he settles back down on the couch. Someone is playing music outside, and the plants on your building’s hall are blooming. What a weird time to bloom, in the middle of the cold.
Simon understands, though, when he sees you finally open your blinds.
Yes, he gets the desire to be alive now.
A/n: I sat down to write and four hours later I'm posting this. It is not proofread and I'm a little too tired to care. Maybe I'll fix it later. Also, my anxiety has been a bitch lately (that means I freeze instead of being able to reply to messages and asks- my poor friends have the patience of a thousand saints stacked on top of each other), so I won't reply to the asks today. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see. In any case, I hope you're all having a great weekend, full of flowers and treats <3

You wake to the glare of the morning sun spilling through the curtains.
Your first waking thought is that it. is. so. bright. God, why is it so fucking bright.
Your second thought is that you need to pee.
There is no third. Because your bladder is killing you.
There's just one not-so-small problem, and he's lying on top of you, in the same position he fell asleep in last night. Wrapped all around you, clinging on like you're a soft comfort blankie he refused to be weaned off of.
It's not... unpleasant, exactly (your need to pee aside).
For such a large man, being trapped underneath him is more comfortable than you might have expected. He's heavy, sure, but the pressure feels more like a weighted blanket with the way he's draped across your body, arms curled around your waist and back.
It helps that the sheer size disparity means that you're too small of a surface area for his whole body to cover and most of his weight rests on the mattress.
Rather than suffocating, it’s almost… cozy.
It must be really early in the morning, because your room is nearly silent. You can’t hear the familiar New York traffic. The noise of honking cars, angry shouting people and screaming cop sirens outside of your window. Instead, in the quiet of the morning the only noise you hear is the sound of his soft snoring against your collarbone.
Before today, you never knew superheroes snore. It’s not the sort of mundane thing you ever think about superheroes doing.
You stare up at him for a minute, soft skin and long lashes fluttering across his cheeks, marveling that he looks so... human.
Which of course he does. The observation shouldn’t really surprise you. For all the fantastical mythos that surrounds them, at the end of the day, most superheroes are human beings.
…Unless you're talking about Thor, of course, who’s an actual Viking God. And maybe not Hulk either, because... well... look at him. He’s all green and roided out, you don’t know what he is but he’s certainly not human. And then there’s– Okay, you know what, now that you actually think about it, a lot of superheroes are not human at all.
Maybe that’s why last night took you so much by surprise. You always thought they were invincible. You’d never guess that a slice of coffee cake could bring one down, collapsing as easily like a poorly built house of cards.
Even more surprised when he’d held onto you, pleading for you to stay.
When you see the Avengers plastered on the front cover of every newspaper, they look larger than life. When you see Captain America and his star-spangled shield sparkling in the centerfold of the Times, you never really stop to consider, what’s he like when the mask comes off.
In some abstract way, you were aware that superheroes have lives beyond just superheroing. You just never thought about the fact that a lot of them probably have families at home that they worry about. Friends that they care for. People they miss.
Nena
He'd said.
The person he mistook you for last night.
Something squeezes uncomfortably tight in your chest just remembering the tone in his voice when he said it.
Something is going on here. It's clear to you now even more so than before, that this man doesn’t just keep saving you out of sheer coincidence. There’s a mystery here that’s all tied together in an interconnected web somehow and you're pretty sure it has to do with this Nena person. She is most likely the answer to why your whole life has been upended in the last few months.
You need to find out what is going on and now that he's physically here, right in front of you, as soon as he wakes you can finally ask him and get some answers that are long overdue.
You just really need to fucking pee first.
Gingerly, you wedge an arm between your chest and his. You attempt to slowly and carefully pry open the stranglehold he has on you, hoping to scoot up and out of his arms.
He grunts in reply, still soundly asleep, and his arms tighten their hold on you, pulling you back into him as he burrows his face into your chest.
"Five more minutes," he grumbles, voice raspy with sleep. "Nena, it's too early."
There it is again, that nickname. You freeze, holding as still as possible, feeling your heart skip a beat at the tone of his voice as he said it. It’s said with so much fondness and hints at so much familiarity each time he has said it.
You don't know what you're meant to do in this situation. Except you clearly can’t let him go on thinking you’re… whoever it is that he thinks you are for much longer.
There are the muddy moral implications of allowing this to go on any further after all, considering that the man probably has no idea where he is after you practically roofied him with baked goods.
You also still really need to go pee already.
He shifts against you, one thick, heavy thigh wrapping over your leg and pulling you in further before coming to a rest directly on top of your bladder. Okay, fuck, you take back what you said about this not being unpleasant. This is really, really unpleasant.
You need him to get up now.
Forcing your hand free, you reach up to give him a polite tap on the shoulder. When polite doesn’t get you any results, you do it harder, three successive taps, and he still doesn’t even stir. You keep tapping, progressively harder until you’re punching him hard enough that any normal person would be yelping in pain and begging you to stop.
He groans once, arms shifting to secure his hold on you. For a moment you think he’s going to ask for another ‘five minutes,’ but then the whole of his body goes stiff, every muscle suddenly rigid with tension. A suspended silence permeates the space, and you find yourself holding your breath unsure of what to do next. The silence is broken by the sound of your bedsheets shifting, and you feel the firm hold around your waist ease off, his arms and legs retreating from your body.
He's up and out of bed in one smooth move, almost faster than you can follow. By the time you struggle upright in bed (much less gracefully) he's already standing a few feet away, hands fisted at his sides.
“Sorry,” he says, looking at you and then off to the side like he can’t quite bring himself to meet your eyes, a bright flush burning high on his cheeks, “I… uh… I thought you were someone else."
His hulking frame towers over your bed, but he’s acting like a sulky, embarrassed little boy. The contrast should be absurd, but instead you find it… strangely endearing. Apparently even a high and mighty superhero can be brought low by an awkward situation, just like everyone else.
"It's okay. You didn't... um... do anything weird or anything," you say, trying to reassure him, but you can't concentrate on your words when your bladder is screaming bloody murder, "Look, can you give me a second? Just– shit. Just stay right there, okay? I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere!" you admonish him, throwing the words over your shoulder as you rush past him and into the bathroom
You nearly break your tailbone with how fast you sit down on the toilet seat, hoping to get your business done as quickly as possible and praying the whole 15 seconds that you’re gone that he won’t make a break for it and still be there when you get back.
Thankfully, when you nearly tear the bathroom door from its hinges, he is.
The first sight that greets you is his broad and defined back framed by the amber light pouring in from your window frame. It makes for a dramatic image. Golden and majestic, he seems to occupy half the space in your tiny apartment as he stands turned away from you, apparently taking in the view from your one and only window.
The first thing he says to you as he opens your mouth is not, ‘good morning.’ There's no ‘sorry for almost drunkenly smothering you to death last night,’ ‘how did you sleep with my hulk sized body on top of you’ or even a 'thanks for letting me sleep on your bed.'
No. Rude, knock off, maybe-vampire Spiderman, who still hasn't told you his name, slowly turns back towards you and takes one look at your face. Then he says, "I have to go."
Which, of course that’s what he’d say and do. Of course. You’re nearly growling with frustration as you run up to him.
"Wait!" you shout, darting around to block his path as you try to lead him back further into your apartment. "Do you want some breakfast?"
You still don't know him very well yet, but your few interactions so far have shown you that the way to break through his grumpy defenses is through his stomach.
"I can fix you up something. I’ve got some eggs in the fridge, and I can do scrambled or fried. Maybe over-easy, though I sometimes mess up the timing.”
You’re rambling on purpose. Speaking as fast as you can, as you continue to pull him towards your kitchen. You’re making sure he can’t get a word in edgewise, so that he doesn’t have a chance to protest before the food is in his stomach, and by then he’ll surely eat the whole thing before he starts getting sassy with you again. By then you’ll hopefully be able to sneak in one or two questions between mouthfuls.
He shakes his head, "No, I–I have to go... I wasn't supposed to..."
Not a fan of eggs, you note. It makes sense, so far the only thing you've ever seen him eat is baked goods, probably has a sweet tooth.
"I could make you pancakes? I won't even put coffee in them, I promise," you tease gently, hoping the humor might pull a smile from him.
It doesn't. If anything, his eyes look even sadder.
He stops mid-step, and no matter how much of your weight you put in trying to herd and push him towards your kitchen, he won’t budge an inch. You’d have more success moving a bull by its horns, and considering he’s bigger built than one, that tracks.
There’s no strain in his features, as he stays still, resistant to your efforts. "This is a mistake,” he says. “I should never have gotten involved."
He's moving again, this time away from you, stepping towards the window. Shit, he's going to make a run for it.
In the course of the last 24 hours you've managed to leap off the Chrysler building; poison the superhero standing in front of you; slept with him in the same bed; and yet somehow, through all of this, you still haven't managed to do the one thing you actually wanted: have a simple conversation with him.
"Wait, wait!" you shout out, panicky. "Can we just talk for a second? I really need to talk to you. I just want some answers.”
"I don't have any answers for you," he says.
He's turned his back again, one hand on the window sill as he's preparing to climb onto it. If you let him leap off it now, you don’t know when your next chance will be to catch him again.
"I'm not going to stop trying," you shout out in a last desperate attempt and that finally stops him in his tracks.
“I’m gonna be leaving,” he says with a finality in his words.
It doesn’t stop you though, doesn’t even discourage you. He might be stubborn, but you can give him a run for his money, because this is your life on the line.
“Then I’ll run after you. I’ll keep chasing after you. I'll keep asking, and asking, and asking. I'm not going to stop until you give me some answers."
There’s a silence between you again. Then he straightens his posture, and turns his head just far enough that you can catch his eyes. Whatever uncertainty was there before fades away as you see the resolve in his eyes harden.
"You're never going to see me again."
There's an ugly noise. A scratch over the vinyl of a record screeching in your brain that makes you unable to comprehend his words. You have to replay them in your mind, parsing them out, before you realize what he's actually telling you.
“Wait, what do you mean never see you again!?” you step forward towards the window sill, and he visibly retreats at your advance. “As in, you're going to back to avoiding me? It’s kind of late for that, isn't it? I've seen your face... twice. We’ve slept together!"
"No," he answers brusquely, brows pulled in at a sharp angle. “I'm leaving the… area. I'm not going to be around anymore."
“But you’ll be back… right?” you ask. Some corner of your brain refuses to accept what you think he’s telling you.
With a graceful movement, he leaps back down from the window sill, taking a step forward and leaning in until he’s looming over you, his face inches from your own.
“No,” he repeats, emphasizing the word.
Oh…
His words finally click. It took a few attempts for the stubborn gear in your brain to unjam, but you finally hear what he’s been trying repeatedly to tell you.
He’s leaving for good. He’s not coming back.
You… You don’t know how you feel. Your cheeks are strangely numb. Somehow the idea that he might not be around indefinitely had never occurred to you. You’ve grown accustomed to the safe haven he’s provided. Come to rely on him and the familiar safety of his shadow lurking around every corner, the blurred blue and red rescuing you from this crazy world trying to kill you.
A flash of cold sweat breaks out along your back. His presence is your only anchor to safety. If he’s not here…
"But– but– if you leave…” You trail off, barely able to imagine it.
All the near-misses flash through your mind. The taco truck stampeding through the city, the subway train barrelling towards you, construction sites crashing down right above your head. So many deaths held at bay by the one man in front of you, and if he leaves… If he’s gone…
You can barely choke out the next words, your voice a strangled whisper, “...what’s going to happen to me?”
A flash of anguish breaks through his stony features before he turns away, dropping his gaze to his feet. Pained sadness bleeds into those crimson eyes, something that speaks of guilt, loss and defeat.
"I’m sorry," he says quietly, "I can't save you. I never could. Nothing can."
And what can you say to that? You can’t force him to do more for you than he already has. He’s done a lot—much more than anyone has to, superhero or not, and you know that—and it’s selfish of you to ask more.
You swallow down the anxiety crawling up your throat and it tastes like burnt bile.
Anyone would be lucky to have a superhero save them from certain death even once in their lifetime, and somehow you've been blessed with more times than you can count.
In fact, you’ve been spoiled rotten, managing to escape death so many times that you've grown almost… complacent about it. Expecting him to rescue you, when really you've been living on borrowed time for months now, winning one lottery ticket after another. You've had more extra time than anyone could ever wish for.
In front of you, you see him moving again. If you let him go like this, then this is it. This is where it all ends. Without him, it’s only a matter of time before death catches up with you again—for good this time.
You shake your head, refusing the defeat. It may be selfish, greedy even, but this is your life and you can’t let it end here.
You don’t want to die. You made a promise to yourself when you fell out of the Chrysler building for the first time.
You want to live. You want to live. You want to live.
"Wait! Please..." You grab onto his hand, and even though you have no doubt he could break free from your desperate grip with very little effort, he stops for you.
"I don't know what's going on! Every day I walk out that door, and almost die again and again and again. I'm scared and confused, and it seems like the universe is hellbent on killing me, and you're the only clue I've got as to why. The only reason I'm still alive is because you keep saving me. I know that it’s selfish to ask you this, because you don’t owe me anything. But…”
You pause, drawing in a deep breath, and say the words with your whole chest, “I want to live!”
He doesn’t quite flinch, but the hand at his side twitches and then he’s reaching up to you. So close, you can almost feel his knuckles grace the side of your cheek. Then he stops, a fraction of an inch from your face.
He tilts his head to the side, like he’s listening to something you can’t hear.
Must be some other emergency your unfriendly neighborhood Spider-man needs to be on his way to. You try to push down the unexpected envy boiling in your stomach at the thought.
Although… now that you’re listening, you can hear something too. Something like the low hum of a helicopter, growing louder all the time.
Must be a police chopper. Traffic ‘copters aren’t allowed to fly so low.
Abruptly, the light flees your apartment. Shadow sweeps across your window and covers everything in pitched darkness.
A blackout? But it's morning, even if the power went out, the sun should still be–
You feel it before you see it in the dark, a tight grip on your wrist pulling you. His arm slams across your waist, yanking you backwards.
The world lurches around you, receding with a deafening roar of collapsing concrete and shrieking metal. The last thing you see is the wall of your apartment disappearing in a cloud of dust and twisted metal.
Your stomach drops sickeningly. Bright light flashes across your vision in intense rainbow-colored bursts. Pink. Red. Green. Blue. You have to close your eyes as wind whips mercilessly against your cheeks, loud impossible roaring in your ears.
Is this death? Somehow you thought it would be quieter. Calm.
Still.
And then it is. Everything stops, and when you finally dare open your eyes again, there’s…
Nothing.

Tumblr media
A — Affection;
In a touch, in a glance, in a simple gesture, you know how deeply Simon cares for you. He hopes you do, because he can’t always find the words but will swallow past the stones of them if you need to hear it.
He would do anything for you, don’t you know that? You brought out some undiscovered need in him to protect and cherish and provide. If he finds you at home laying down in the dark because you’re feeling unwell, he’ll ask if there’s anything he can get for you in the softest of tones. Closing the curtains, bringing you a glass of water and some ibuprofen, he assures you not to worry about dinner or putting gas in your car for tomorrow, he’ll take care of it. If it’s your period cramps, he’ll get out the heating pad and run to the shop to get your favorite snacks and sweets and won’t take it personally if you snap at him over something trivial. Whatever he can do to make your life easier, he will try his best to think of. That’s the best way Simon knows how to show that he wants to take care of you and prioritizes your wellbeing.
In the realm of physical touch, Simon’s hand, in the beginning of your relationship, was not so guided by certainty and purpose as it would come to be. What did it mean, to hold hands and impart kisses? To have his scars traced and his nose nuzzled by the tip of yours?  And when you laid beside him and said his name in the dark like it meant something more? Your soft and flowing affection sent shudders through him each time, and you were so patient and discerning with his bewilderment. Simon came to understand what it was you stirred in him: it was a butterfly trapped inside his chest whenever he was with you. The sunshine and nectar and soft breeze of your tenderness succored his soul and placed him under a foreign spell, and touching you becomes something he cannot help himself to.
He’ll stroke your cheek at times when he finds your face so pretty, he doesn’t know what to do about it. If your hair falls a certain way he’ll reach out and twirl it between his fingers. You’re so beautiful to him, he can’t quite believe you’re real. And that’s what touch comes to mean to him: this is real, I am yours, and you are mine.

Series Masterlist/Playlist/The tune:
Tumblr media
Early June - A Thursday
Your first week as a waitress at The Whale was a whirlwind, long hours on your feet leaving you exhausted every time you climbed your staircase each night. Dishes and laundry piling up around your apartment, so when you finally have a day off it is dedicated to playing catch up. The smell of coffee fills your apartment as you stretch looking out your living room window. New curtains ready to be hung leaning against the wall.
His car is gone, the normal work day in full swing for most of the city. You haven’t seen him since that night in the alley, your schedules seeming completely opposite now. Part of you hopes maybe today you’ll at least catch a glimpse of your new friend and his cute dog.
Tumblr media
Most of the day is spent going up and down your stairs to the shared laundry room in the basement of the building. In between loads is filled with distractions of things to do in your room and whatever you left playing on your TV. Your eyes actively avoid the dishes that have piled in your sink while you actually fold your laundry. It is only when you don’t have any more excuses that you finally drag your pink fuzzy slipper covered feet over to the one chore you’ve been dreading all day.
“I gotta get better at washing as I use,” you grumble like every other time you find yourself here.
You only get two plates and a bowl deep when the sink starts to clog, groaning annoyedly you flip the switch of the disposal only to be met with the sound of metal grinding against metal. A smell resembling burning plastic hits your nose and you’re quick to flip it off, the water still refusing to drain. Slamming down on the faucet handle, you wait a couple of minutes before daring to reach in to see if a piece of silverware got stuck in there. When your fingertips meet nothing but warm water, panic starts to set in.
You flip the switch one more time out of curiosity, and the same unbearable sound drowns out your TV. You huff turning it off, hands finding your hips as you look around for a solution you know you aren’t going to find without calling someone. Bandit’s bark catches your ears, and you hate that all your frustrations seem to disappear at the thought of seeing him.
You pad over to your window, eyes going big and head dropping at the sight that’s waiting for you.
Of fucking course.
It’s obvious he barely got home from work by the black slacks that still cover his long legs, but the dress shirt is missing. Instead the white tank top he wears underneath is all that’s there. Tucked in so it fits tight across his torso, his dark chest hair peeks out the top with a silver chain shining against his bronzed skin. His forearms flex tugging on the tennis ball trapped in Bandit’s tight grip, his sock and slide covered feet plant on the ground for added balance. The smile on his face you swear is brighter than the sun that isn’t hidden by any clouds today and you didn’t realize how much you missed it.
Tumblr media
It’s somehow even hotter than it looked outside, and you immediately regret not changing out of your warm slippers, but he’s already spotted you with an offering of a friendly wave with his big hand. He gets the ball away from Bandit, losing his footing surprised, shock painting his features before the dog starts jumping on him. Steve raises it over his head, keeping Bandit too distracted to see you at the gate that he’s signaling for you to let yourself in from.
Your hand shakes a little when you unhook the latch, nerves from never being at his house before and not seeing him for the past week try to get the best of you. He smiles when he looks at you from over the rim of his sunglasses letting Bandit win finally but it’s too late for toys when he spots you. Bounding over with big paws, Bandit wastes no time jumping on you, making you stumble back a little before catching him in your arms.
“Bandit! Come on, don’t knock her down,” Steve scolds, but those pretty giggles that he loves so much come out when his dog starts licking your cheek and it tells him all he needs to know.
“Hi buddy, I missed you too.” You grin, your animal voice coming out only a little when you feel Steve’s stare fixated on you.
Bandit wags his tail jumping down satisfied before grabbing his ball again bringing it back to you to continue the game you interrupted.
“Hey tough girl.” Steve smirks shoving his hands in his pockets watching you accept his dog’s invitation. “To what do we owe the pleasure?”
You play with Bandit’s ears to try and distract him as you do your best to get the rubber ball out of his iron tight bite, completely losing focus on why you came over here in the first place when you succeed and throw it towards their front door.
“Oh my god, my sink!” You gasp, your hand covering your embarrassed grin.
Steve’s eyes widen, his eye brows marrying together in the middle with concern.
“Is it flooding?!” He asks incredulously as Bandit trots back over carefree.
“No, not flooding.” You assure him going back in for the toy, and you can tell your nonchalance is getting to him. “My disposal is making sounds and it smells like plastic burning every time I run it, so the water won’t drain.” You get the ball away from Bandit cause he lets you, only continuing your explanation after you throw it again.
“I was hoping my good friend and neighbor could come check it out?” You try to lighten the mood with a smile but the concern never leaves his face, the pink that dusts his cheeks tells you he’s not unaffected by your ‘charms’ though.
“It’s probably something stuck in the pipes, let me get some tools and I'll come back with you.” He speaks like he’s sure he knows that’s it, snapping his fingers at Bandit to get him to wrap it up.
“Are you sure? I’m not interrupting anything tonight?” You hope he doesn’t pick up on the hidden ulterior motives in your question, but the smirk he gives you tells you he does.
“No honey, I’m all yours.”
Tumblr media
It’s strange having him in your apartment again, and god you wish he had put on a real shirt when he got his tool box. The tops of his shoulders are covered in even more freckles, the tint of redness from the sun becoming obvious in your harsh kitchen light. The muscles in his arms twitch in the cold air of your AC that works harder with the heat of two bodies in your small space.
His gaze falls on your full sink and you immediately regret going to get his help. Silently cursing your hormones for getting the best of you.
“Sorry, obviously I was trying to do them. It’s been a long week, I started a new job serving and-“ embarrassment makes blood rush to your cheeks as you go to move past him in an attempt to clean some of it up.
“Hey, you’re fine.” He grabs your arm before you can make it, long fingers wrapping around you in a firm grip but still soft enough for you to pull away if you really wanted to. “I’m not judging you.”
His lips tug into a warm smile when you don’t try and break away, the gold specs in his eyes lighting up while his thumb brushes against your heated skin in a soothing motion. It only grows wider watching how your shoulders give in to his whims with a slump.
“Just know I was about to do them!” You argue weakly with a point of your finger and he just nods, the corners of his mouth twitching in an effort not to laugh at your distress.
“How else would you know your sink is broken?” His voice wavers when he tries to play along with a straight face, but it becomes impossible when he catches the roll of your eyes. You do that a lot to him. He likes it.
“Better watch yourself Steve,” you warn with a grin wrapped around your words that hold no real threat, but it’s hard to fight it when he still hasn’t let you go.
He’s closer now, and you notice his five o’clock shadow is as dark as it was the first day you met. Salt and pepper covering his sharp jaw. The faded fresh scent of his deodorant mixes with the spice of his cologne, and the sweat that kissed his skin outside. You want to bury your face in his shirt and inhale.
“You shouldn’t threaten the guy that’s here to fix your sink honey. That’s not very smart,” he tsks looking down the edge of his nose at you with squinted eyes, “you’re lucky I’m so nice.”
You immediately feel the loss when he drops your arm and if it wasn’t for the wink that followed, you would have missed it more.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” you tease trying to play off how flustered you are but the slight shake in your voice doesn’t go unnoticed, confidence smoldering in his stare before his teeth come out in a blinding smile.
“Let me go take a look, see what I can do. Your dishes aren’t offending me, I promise.” He does his best to ease the last bit of self consciousness still hanging onto the way you look over at the small mess before walking away with tools clanking in the metal box loudly behind him.
Tumblr media
It had been almost an hour with him like this.
He’s on his back, long legs extending over the small space of your kitchen tile. Slides kicked to the side, white sock covered feet wiggling with his movements under your sink. The top of him is hidden, the tank top that was tucked in now loose and pulling up, giving you the hint of his happy trail. You try not to stare at the way the muscles in his arm harden with each twist of his wrist, or the grunts that leave him every now and then.
You find out he works in marketing for The Cubs and used to play baseball himself in high school, laughing when you confess how much you don’t like sports. He promises to take you to a game sometime saying he knows you’ll have fun and you try not to think too much into it. He knows you're rolling your eyes again when you answer “sure” with a smile in your voice. He lets you complain about your first week as a server, surprising you when he asks questions because he’s actually listening.
Metal clanks loudly, cutting you off and drowning out the playlist you chose to fill any empty gaps in conversation that never seemed to happen. An “I’m fine” coming out from under the sink just a little too even to really sound ‘fine’.
There’s a beat before you see him reach for the pliers at his hip, readjusting like he’s set his sights on the culprit.
“Wait, I don’t think you ever told me - hmmpf - what - come on - restaurant you work at?” He readjusts again.
“The Whale,” you give him an answer, hypnotized by his ability to multitask like this.
“Oh, my wife loved that place.” He says it casually like he didn’t just drop a Hiroshima sized bomb on you, or maybe he does and that's why he chose to do it hidden from sight.
You're thankful he can’t see the way your jaw drops, or the disappointment that fills your eyes. There’s a beat of silence before you answer, trying to hide the shock in your voice.
“Wife? I didn’t know Bandit had a Mom.” You look up at the ceiling, mouthing the work ‘fuck’ into the void.
There’s another clank of metal followed by a ‘there you are.’
“Erm - I mean - umm, technically I got Bandit after - I didn’t want to use ex wife, I just don’t know the proper term to say I’ve been widowed for five years.”  He grunts one more time before he starts shimming out. “I do think I found the source of your clog though.”
Your favorite stray clings to his forehead when you get to see his face again, a pleased smile pushing his cheeks up despite the new information he just told you as he holds the ring you thought you lost during the move.
“My ring!” You gasp, jumping off your couch, the opal stone catching in the setting sunlight.
“Clearly, you do, do your dishes.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you laughing when you shove his shoulder lightly snatching your jewelry back.
“You’re hilarious Steve.” The tightness that had formed in your chest relaxes, his smile becoming contagious.
He likes the way you say his name and the way your lips twist up every time you do. It’s sweet enough to ease the guilt that he’s fought with since the day he met you.
“I know,” he huffs as he pushes himself up, reminding you how broad he is when he’s back on his feet. “You should’ve seen my speech at the Legends of the Ball gala last year.”
He gets that eye roll he didn’t get to see earlier, and god he doesn’t want to leave yet but when you slip the ring onto that finger he knows it’s time to go. For now.
He clears his throat before turning around to test his work. Flipping the switch, the sound it’s supposed to make returns, the water in the sink draining quickly.
“Annnd, all back to normal.” His grin is proud when he turns it off. “‘Now, let me clean my mess up and I’ll get out of your hair.” Mirroring his own words he finally pushes his back and you see the dusty pink that covers his ears when he slips his feet back into his slides.
“I feel like I can’t let you leave without offering you a drink or something?” You know all you have in the fridge is some rosé you got on sale at Aldi, but you needed a reason for him to stay.
“How about this, you can bring me back some of those fish tacos one night this week and we’ll call it even.”  He can’t look at you when he suggests it, hoping his ploy to see you again wasn’t obvious while he busies himself with putting all his tools away.
“I think that’s more than doable, I need to thank you for finding my favorite ring too, maybe you should pick a dessert while we’re at it.” You bite your bottom lip when his eyes meet yours with a lopsided grin.
“I’m a big fan of cannoli’s.” He snaps the clasps of his tool box closed before doing a once over to make sure he didn’t leave anything behind. Not that, that would be a bad thing if he did, you’d have to bring it back to him.
“Consider it done. Seriously, thank you Steve.” All your teasing from before is gone, making his  face soften at your sincerity and he wants to tell you that’s enough for him.
“Anytime, that’s what neighbors are for right? It’s always just me and Bandit anyway. It’s nice to feel useful again.” He shrugs like it’s not a big deal, like he wouldn’t help you with anything you asked of him despite how he hardly knows you.
You walk him to your door where you both stand on either side of the threshold, toe to toe. Neither one of you is sure of the proper way to say goodbye.
“Give Bandit an extra treat from me for letting me steal his Dad for a few hours.” You break the ice leaning against the door frame, crossing your arms making the decision easy.
“I’ll be sure to tell him it’s from you.” Steve’s eyes gleam from the evident admiration you have for his dog.
“You better.” The threat is empty, the smile on your face to prove it.
“Have a good night honey. I’m always just next door if you need anything else.” He loiters a little bit unsure of himself before finally turning to make his way down the stairs.
“I’ll try not to lose any more jewelry down the drains!” You call after him, relishing in the laugh it gets you that echoes down the narrow hallway.
You wait till he’s out of your sight before you shut your front door. Your mind racing with everything you’d learned about him tonight, sleep was going to be impossible.

you're my hom(m)e — choi yeonjun.
notes: enough domesticity and fluff to rot this country's teeth. my late late val's day gift <3 pretty short but what's new. if you like it then pls pls pls leave a forehead kiss for me bc i have an exam and need moral support. if you don't then pls leave one anyway bc ur cute i bet anyways bye
Tumblr media
home has a name and it's choi yeonjun. it's when you're here and he is there, far away, and yet his voice, even through the phone, is still more than enough to chase your fears away. when he calls you and your name slips past his lips and you can feel the desperation— the yearning— and when his heart breaks at the sound of your silence behind the line, because he knows that you're crying and he knows that you don't want him to hear how painful the time apart has been for you.
home is choi yeonjun when he is back by your side again, arms wrapped tightly around you, clinging onto your presence like he's been depraved of it for longer than eternity. it's when he cradles the back of your head to the nape of his neck and when the grip of his arm around your waist becomes stronger after you tell him that you miss him. home is wherever with yeonjun. not the apartment you'd been renting ever since you'd moved out to study, being there through everything with you even before a tall, charming, and silly man named choi yeonjun existed in your life.
home is yeonjun (yeonjun yeonjun yeonjun yeonjun— God, you hope you'll always get to say that same name with all of the love and affection in the universe, long after the last star burns out and fizzles out into nothing) when sunlight filters through your curtains and you wake up to see his sculpted face all puffy, pillow marks on his cheek from how long he'd stayed laying on his side to face you, not that you look all that better, but he'd disagree. it's when you can lay there and count the lashes brushing over the skin right under his eyes, having enough time to observe his every feature in great detail. home is whenever yeonjun's eyes flutter open and an immediate toothy smile forms on his well-rested face, you brushing away the hair over his forehead to place a chaste kiss there and wherever else you manage to catch before he feels ticklish and traps you in his arms.
home is choi yeonjun (gosh, his name is so beautiful and you're pretty sure from the odd way your heart beats, that somewhere on that bundle of tender and tired muscle his name is etched and carved into it), because he knows where your ice cream scoop is whenever you feel down and you crave the company of a cold treat. it's him, because whenever you look up at your ceiling, there are stars glowing in the dark in the shape of your favourite constellations ("if you're going to wake up in the middle of the night to contemplate on life and don't want to call me, you can at least stare at a ceiling that's not dreadful and boring"). it's yeonjun, because he loves it when you laugh at his stories about his day and he loves it even more when you tell him about how a bird flew inside the cafe you'd been working on writing a paper at and how it landed in your table and how the owner had to chase it away and they'd accidentally destroyed your cheesecake in the process, offering you a new one apologetically.
home is choi yeonjun, because on the day you'd agreed to have a home date because of your conflicting and busy schedules, he'd made it to you in time despite the raging storm and pouring rain, drenched from head to toe ("the car broke down and i had to take the train, but then i realized that i didn't have my card with me, so i had to run. i'm sorry if I'm late."). home is everything that reminds you of him, even the coffee mug he'd seen at a flea market and bought, because he'd thought that the spots on the ceramic looked like your childhood pet parrot.
choi yeonjun is home, he simply is.

pairing: javier pena x reader
desc: you’re dying of boredom in your family’s sprawling summer home in the lush countryside, until an old friend brings her summer fling, javi, onto your estate for a getaway. dips in lakes and fountains, secret rendezvous in forest clearings and rowboat rides devolve into jealousy, pride, and an undeniable attraction between you and javi.
Tumblr media
The first thing he noticed was your silhouette.
His eyes were drawn to where you stood, on the balcony, far above him. Light filtered gently through the curtains that billowed around you.
He studied you from the lawn, watching the shadowy curve of your hip, the breeze’s tousle of your hair. You turned, your face catching the light.
The slam of the car door led his gaze toward his summer fling. When he turned back, you were gone, dissolved through the curtains like an apparition, disappearing back into the cavernous estate.
“Rough ride, huh?” Carina laughed, wrapping an arm around Javi’s bicep. Ever the gentleman, he reached to carry her suitcase for her, subtly manoeuvring out of her grasp.
“Brutal.” He mumbled.
Carina was nice.
She was his latest fling, a new girl at the office. She had invited him somewhere rural, lush and green for a summer holiday. A cottage on the estate of a wealthy family she had some tenuous relationship to.
He didn’t have any better plans.
Carina led him down the path toward the cottage, a little off from the main house that you had vanished into, a stoic stone giant in the night.
Javi looked out for your shadow behind the curtains.
Tumblr media
Your name echoed through the trees as you whipped past them, sprinting through the woods to try and create some distance between you and Alexei.
The dress you wore over your swimsuit swished about your thighs as you ducked toward the fountain.
The fountain was an old fixture on the estate, a gigantic marble monstrosity that seemed to have sprouted in the middle of a clearing in the woods on your property. You swung your leg over the high wall of the fountain basin, crashing beneath the surface. You laid perfectly still beneath the water, holding your breath.
You always felt a little like this when you were back at home.
A little suffocated, everything a little muted, as if you were trapped underwater.
You forced your eyes open as you listened for Alexei’s muffled voice. You stared at the sky, a blur of blue beneath the water.
What seemed like hundreds of rooms in the estate, sprawling acres of land, and you still felt trapped.
Alexei was nice.
He was what your family wanted for you. Good family, comparable status. Oozed money. A total bore.
Now he was looking for you, trying to join you on a swim in the lake that you were looking forward to as a solo endeavour.
Your lungs began to ache, minuscule air bubbles escaping between your lips as you heard his voice recede into the distance.
You shot through the surface, gasping for air.
The crunch of leaves caused you to jolt, your gaze met by the intense stare of dark brown eyes.
Your chest heaved as you struggled to catch your breath, the intent gaze of the man before you knocking the air out of your lungs.
Your ribs pressed against the thin white material of your dress, exposed as you realised the material had been soaked through, revealing the swimsuit beneath.
His eyes followed the dribble of the clear water down your skin, the light filtering through the trees causing the droplets to glimmer like jewels.
He envied the water that touched your skin. When you met his gaze, every nerve in his body seemed to set alight.
You tried to ignore the heat that bloomed across your chest at the sight of him, partly embarrassment, partly something different, something electric.
This beautiful stranger, whose tan skin glowed in the sun, the dip of his collarbones stark against his bare chest.
“Having fun in there?” Carina giggled.
You tore your eyes away from him, and he barely managed to do the same, putting on the dark aviators he had held in his hand. Though the shades shielded his eyes, you could still feel the heat of his gaze as his eyes roved over you.
“Lots.” You cleared your throat, plastering on a smile as you climbed out of the fountain.
Carina. You tried to ignore the disappointment that shot through your heart. You’d been childhood friends with her, but you’d grown distant. Now, she was back, and with possibly the most beautiful man you’d ever seen. And he was all hers for the summer.
“It’s been too long, babe.” She pulled you in for a hug, and though you knew you shouldn’t, you couldn’t help but look over her shoulder, eyes flitting across her companion.
“Javi and I were just heading to the lake.” She said, pulling away from you to gesture towards him. “Javi, this is the one I was telling you about.”
Javi. You wanted to say his name, let it flow seamlessly off your tongue. You didn’t let yourself.
“Hello.” You mumbled, extending your hand.
His palm was warm in contrast to your skin, chilled with water, and you felt as if his rough hand was searing against yours. His hand lingered.
“There you are!” Alexei grinned as he appeared up the trail, causing you and Javi to break apart. I’ve been looking for you.”
“Ditto.” You said, unconvincingly.
The four of you started off toward the lake, Alexei making polite conversation that barely registered compared to the heat of Javi’s stare boring into your back.
Tumblr media
Your fingers skimmed the surface of the water, the gentle rock of the boat and rhythmic slicing of Alexei’s oars through the water boring you immensely.
Your eyes flitted to the shore, where Carina lay on her stomach, face nuzzled into the crook of her elbow. Javi propped himself up on his forearms, lifting a cigarette to his lips as he squinted through the sunlight, catching your eye. You thought you saw the corner of his lips quirk, but it was hard to say from afar.
You felt an intense blush flare through your cheeks. You shouldn’t. You really shouldn’t. But you couldn’t help but notice him, the broad shoulders, the press of muscle against the skin of his bicep.
He was invading your senses, even all the way out on the shore. The heat was unbearable.
You shot up, ignoring the frightened look that flashed across Alexei’s face as your sudden movement sent the boat rocking.
“Where are you going?” Alexei panted, chest heaving from the exertion of having to row the boat for the past half hour without any help from you.
“Swimming.” You kept your eyes locked with Javi’s, watching as silver smoke filtered through his lips, the afternoon sun golden in his hair.
You peeled your dress off, the damp fabric sticking to your skin as you pulled it over your head, feeling Javi’s eyes on you the whole time.
“Should I come?” Alexei asked.
“Nope.” You said, tossing your dress at him in a crumpled ball. “Why don’t you just… watch the boat?”
You shot a glance toward Javi’s direction, trying to tamp down the twinge of disappointment when you were met with an empty towel lying crumpled on the grass next to Carina, who had completely dozed off in the heat. He was gone.
Whatever. As if you cared.
You leapt off of the boat, crashing into the water before swimming away, cutting through the water and trying to create as much distance as you could from Carina and Alexei.
You broke through the surface, relishing in the quiet. With Carina asleep and Alexei taking a break from rowing, reclining in the boat with his eyes closed against the sun, all you could hear was the drip of water and the sound of the birds.
The water broke behind you suddenly, and you jumped as an arm snaked around your waist, heart thumping as the beginnings of a shocked yelp formed in your mouth.
“It’s just me.” His voice hummed in his chest, and you felt it rumble against your back as he held you flush against his torso.
Your breathing steadied, and you tried not to melt into his arms.
His warm arms, taut against your stomach as he held you close.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Carina?” You breathed.
“I wanted to swim.” He muttered, his warm breath ghosting the shell of your ear.
You felt a sudden surge of courage that you knew you shouldn’t feel, inebriated by his closeness.
“Is that all you wanted?” You ask.
His arm falls away from your waist, and you feel a flash of fear, knowing you pushed too far. It disintegrates when he says, “Follow me.”
You swim after him as he leads you to the edge of the lake, far enough from where Carina and Alexei were.
He waded out of the water, hand grasping for yours as he helped you out and led you to a clearing obscured by a cover of trees. You tried to ignore the jolt of electricity his touch sent through your hand.
You reached along to the shallow end of the water, producing a whiskey bottle from beneath the surface.
“Lake keeps it cold.” You explained.
You caught the amused glint in his eyes as you took a swig.
“I come out here a lot. It’s a good hiding spot. How d’you know this was here?”
You handed him the bottle, watching him take a drink as you sunk down to the grass, leaning against the trunk of a tree.
You looked up at him, watching as a drop the amber liquid dribbled down his chin, landing in the hollow of his neck.
“I’m perceptive.” He muttered.
“I know you are. I see the way you look at me.”
You knew with those words, you were on the precipice of something. You knew you should stop. He knew. The both of you kept pushing.
He sat on the grass, facing you.
“How do I look at you?”
“With your eyes.”
He smirked. “You think you’re funny, huh?”
“Hilarious.”
“I like girls with a sense of humour.”
“Lucky me.” You smiled.
He let a moment of silence pass, and you watched the steady drip of water off his skin. He readjusted his position, letting his arm cross over your outstretched legs, his palm planted firmly on the grass next to your thigh.
So close, yet so far.
“That your boyfriend?” He said, nodding toward the rowboat.
“Nope. Just some heir of something or another. It escapes me.” You grinned. “Why, you jealous?”
“You jealous of me and Carina?” He challenged, leaning in closer. Your heart thrummed in your chest.
“Why would I be?”
“I see the way you look at me.” Casually, as if it were nothing at all, he leaned closer still, hand lifting to fiddle with your hair, letting it fall between his fingers.
“How do I look at you?” You whisper, echoing his earlier words. Every fibre of your being told you to close the distance between the two of you.
Just a few inches. Your eyes flitted over his face, the dark, heavy lashes, the strong jaw. His mouth.
“Javi?” Carina’s voice, faint in the distance and heavy with sleep, called out.
You broke apart, Javi clearing his throat and taking a moment to slick back his damp hair. He got to his feet, and you watched the broad expanse of his back.
“Will I see you tonight?”.
“What’s tonight?” You sighed, dreamily.
He tossed a look over his shoulder, raising a dark eyebrow. “Your family’s throwing a party. Carina’s invited. I’m her plus one.”
“Lucky girl.” You muttered, ignoring the flare of jealousy in your stomach. You pulled a blade of grass out of the dirt, crushing it in your palm.
“You think you could make time for me tonight, even with all the heirs of somethings trying to hit on you?” He smiled.
“We’ll see.” You said off-handedly, trying to disguise your excitement. You ducked through the trees and headed back into the water.
Javi waited for a few moments before finding a way out, making it look as if he’d been swimming the whole time before making it back to Carina.
The only evidence of your meeting were two damp patches in the grass where your bodies had been, marked by a half full bottle of whiskey.

“Can’t believe this,” Mike grumbled. His eyes were fixed on his foggy windows, following the raindrops as they raced across the glass. His face was clouded with disappointment, “Rain.”
“There’s nothing wrong with a little water.” You said, picking up light weighted bottles and cups off the table. You flashed a warm smile as his gaze twisted towards you, heavy and dark. You knew Mike wasn’t a fan of being caged inside with errands to attend to. Mike swore silently. “It’s probably gonna be rain all day. Man, I can’t believe this.”
Anyone would just go into their car and endure the storm, but unfortunately, it had broke down days go. Which is why he needed to horde his saving to pay it off. Until then, it was walking—and a lot of running.
Mike pulled away from the curtains with a huff, angrily shuffling towards the couch with a tired exhale. After you had finished piling up the dishes, you walked towards your crossed boyfriend while trying your hands against your sides. You tried to apply some relief by stroking his shoulder gently, which subtly worked but he was too busy brooding to appear bashful by your charm. He scoffed, sinking his head into the comfortable cushions with a sly groan.
“Come on, Mike. Lighten up.” You leaned your head on his shoulder, growing cozy. “Rainy days aren’t the end of the world, babe.” Mike's tone was hazy with annoyance, "I know, but, I have things to do. You know I hate being tardy." He snuggled up to you, "I don't want to fail anyone."
Your fingertips traced through his maze of curls with a relaxed hum, you knew how much Mike liked it when you were gentle with him. It was something he always lacked in his life, along with comfort. "You aren't failing anyone, Mike. Look, see it this way—you've been working yourself to the bone. See this as a break." He didn't say anything. So, you cupped his face and gazed into his gorgeous eyes. "Come on, Mike. Take it easy."
Mike took your hand and melted into your touch, obviously in agreement. You smiled, "Besides, rainy days are so relaxing."
"I guess you're right." Mike mumbled. He lifted himself up and gently pressed his face against yours. You kissed him softly as the rain began to pick up, making it atmospheric in a way. Mike smiled, "Thank you for cheering me up, I guess."
"You guess?" You chuckled. "Alright, nevermind that." Mike rested his sleepy face within the crook of your neck. You hugged him close, tension thinning as you gazed at the black-screened television in front of you. "How about a movie?" You suggested. "Mike?" But he didn't answer. You hadn't noticed he had already dozed off within your grasp, or at least tried to. You couldn't help but hold him closer, indulging in his warmth. It was too long before you fell asleep as well, the peaceful sound of rain relaxing your senses.

Bad idea.
summary: English is not my first language, so if you notice any mistakes I'm sorry!! You think this is a damn bad idea, but stupid Jude Bellingham makes you fall into his trap. It's not such a bad idea tho...
Pairing: Jude Bellingham x fem reader!!
Word count: about 2,8k
It was a warm summer night, the moon shining brightly in the sky, bathing your room in a soft silver glow. You still lived at your parents' house because it was actually comfortable for you since you were in your second year at university.
Your mind was filled with thoughts of Jude Bellingham, the young footballer who had captured your attention since the first day you met.
You with your long brown hair spread out on the pillow and your big eyes closed as, with headphones, you listened to the soft music emanating from your phone. Suddenly, the sound of a notification broke the silence. You turned, anxious, and looked at the screen. It was a text from Jude.
Jude: Are you awake? Come to the window, I have a surprise for you.
Your heart raced. You had been playing tug-of-war for weeks, a seductive dance filled with flirtations and barely contained tensions. But what intrigued you the most was that Jude knew exactly how to tease you—damn bastard.— You got out of bed, your movements filled with nervousness and excitement, you didn't want to admit it out loud.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, your hair was a bit messy, you were dressed in little white cotton shorts, and a long sleeved t-shirt that had a little lace along the neck. —I'm not getting ready for this idiot— you thought.
You walked over to the window and opened the curtain.
Jude was there, leaning against his car—not very discreetly—, a mischievous smile on his face. His eyes sparkled with a mix of defiance and mischief. You bit your lip, feeling a surge of desire. You felt caught between the excitement of seeing him and the fear of what that meant.
"Couldn't you wait until tomorrow? —you asked, trying to hide your excitement.
"And miss the chance to see you? “I wouldn't do it for the world,” Jude replied, his voice soft but heavy with innuendo. He moved closer to the window, the night air accentuating the tension between them.
“You know this is a bad idea,” you said, although the way your heart was beating in your chest said otherwise.
“Why?” he asked, arching an eyebrow. “Because there are rules we shouldn't break? We’ve always been good at breaking them.”
You crossed your arms, although you knew that gesture only accentuated your figure and your breasts. Jude watched you, his gaze scanning every detail, as if memorizing your essence. It was a battle of wills, and you were enjoying every second of it.
“I don't want you to get into trouble because of me.” Your voice sounded softer, as if fear was starting to mix with desire.
“Don't worry about me.” His smile widened. “I'm used to trouble. Besides, I think you and I have some issues to sort out."
You felt an electric current run through your body. They had argued many times about their relationship, a push and pull of conflicting feelings, and every time they got close, the tension was palpable. Jude always knew how to push your boundaries, how to make you feel alive.
“I don't know if we should…” you started to say, but Jude cut you off.
“Should we what? “Ignore the attraction between us?” he said. His voice was a soft whisper that vibrated with seduction.
“It's not just about that…” you blurred out, feeling caught between desire and reason.
“What if I told you I’ve been thinking about you all night?” Jude said, his tone defiant.
You felt a chill run down your spine. The way Jude looked at you, as if he could see past your skin, made your defenses melt. Despite your logic, the part of you that wanted to venture into the abyss grew stronger and stronger.
“It could be a mistake…” you mumbled, feeling like you were about to fall into an abyss.
“A mistake or an opportunity?” he asked. You could see every nuance of his expression, the way his lips curved into a flirtatious smile. “It's time we stopped thinking so much.”
You closed your eyes for a moment, fighting your thoughts to stop spinning and open the damn door to Jude. It was easy to get carried away by the connection you shared, but doubt assailed you. What if this wasn't just a game for Jude? However, the excitement of the unknown pushed you towards him.
“You have to promise me that you won't leave me in the lurch if this gets complicated,” you said, your eyes fixed on his, searching for sincerity.
“I promise, but…” Jude said, his tone of voice changing to a more serious one. “If I leave you, it will be because you walk away first.”
A nervous laugh escaped your lips. “Always making it personal.”
“The personal is what makes this exciting,” Jude replied, his voice like a seductive siren song.
Finally, curiosity and longing won out. You took a deep breath and, putting aside your doubts, decided to open the door. Jude smiled widely as he entered your house, the difference in size very noticeable. The night promised to be much more than just a simple encounter.
Both went up to the room in silence, because your parents were a few rooms away from yours.
You locked the door, turned around, and Jude pinned you against the door, letting out all the lust you had both been holding back.
You closed your eyes, giving in to the feeling of Jude's mouth moving along your skin, placing a kiss in the hollow of your neck before moving on to your other collarbone.
You were having a hard time suppressing your needs. You and Jude had sex frequently, but right now he felt so eager, like he had been deprived of it for years.
You caught his own lips between your teeth, feeling the hairs on his neck stand up. Your body was on alert, just hoping your parents hadn't heard all that commotion.
Jude lifted you up with ease as he continued to kiss you, and placed you on your bed.
On top of you was the man who had caused your world to turn upside down, burying his fat cock in your exposed thighs and marking your neck as he pleased.
With a series of kisses Jude reached your breasts, where he joined his lips with your left pink nipple, grabbing your waist at the same time, obviously prepared for the reaction he would have.
And his grip worked perfectly, holding you while you tried to lift your hips and fuck in the air between Jude's big legs.
Oh, this is something you would never admit out loud, but you loved Jude restricting your movements. It drove you crazy to see how strong and big he was, how easily he could hold you down, immobilize your arms and cage your body with his.
Bellingham went back and forth between your tits, sucking them into his mouth, making you gasp and squirm beneath him, eager to feel more of his touch.
"All I can think of is ways to make you squirm and shake." The dark-skinned boy said.
You weren't able to give a proper response because the boy was in the process of doing exactly what he said - making you squirm and shake.
"Jude, we shouldn't" You said.
"Yeah, I know we shouldn't, baby but, we will."
Fuck everything. You didn't want him to stop.
"When my hands get tired..." Jude started again.
He slid his lips down, leaving small kisses along the way.
"I'll use my tongue."
Your hips bucked slightly at the implication. You knew Bellingham's hands didn't tire easily.
"When my tongue gets tired..."
He kissed your stomach.
"I'll use my dick."
Shit.
A series of desperate sighs left your mouth, getting louder when Jude moved so that his chest was pressed against your cunt.
"And when I can't use my body anymore..."
He dragged one of his large hands between your thighs, reaching under the tiny shorts you wore, beginning to caress your pussy over the panties, making it drip onto the fabric.
"Let's just say I can think of plenty of ways to make you beg without moving a single inch."
Your entire body spasmed with desire. You began to receive light touches on your clit despite your longing for him to put two fingers inside you, jerking you hard and roughly.
“Please,” you moaned high and needy. “Please, Jude.”
The aforementioned hummed in approval and, using only his thumb, began to rub your clit without any cloth in between, that simple action causing you to get much wetter than you usually did.
“You’re quite sensitive.” He murmured, digging his thumb into your clit and squeezing it, making you cry out. “It would hurt. A lot.”
Flashbacks of your first time together reappeared in your head. You had three orgasms that night and each and every one of them made him more sensitive than the last.
“Does that feel good, baby?” he said, as he began to put two fingers into your wet pussy. You moaned loudly, you couldn't stand it.
Jude covered your mouth with one hand, fucking you with his long, big fingers, your moans muffled against his palm. With his remaining hand he caressed your curves.
He saw your eyes roll back, growling as he made another few short thrusts with his fingers, much softer than the previous ones, but just as accurate. His goal was to drive you crazy.
Sweat bathed their bodies, the smell of sex filled the room.
Your tears wet Jude's hand.
Your legs tightened from overexcitement. Jude continued to fuck you with his fingers, speeding up and slowing down, the watery sound of your fluids being heard in the process. Jude slid his mouth down to your marked neck, licking and biting everything in his path, claiming you once again as his. Only his.
You tried not to moan for real, but you couldn't do anything about it when fucking Jude Bellingham was manhandling your little pussy with his fingers.
"Shh baby, you don't want to wake your parents, do you?" He said playfully, you glared at him, giving him a slap on his bare chest.
Jude pulled his fingers away after having prepared you.
He positioned himself between your shaking legs and pulled out his big fat cock. He rested his arms on either side of your head to keep from crushing you.
He thrust hard, moaning into your mouth, tilting your heads to deepen the kiss, tangling your tongues, creating a loud and obscene battle.
Did you regret what you were doing? Shit, of course not. Your body was happy, he was happy.
The back of the bed lightly hit the wall of the room, both enjoying the moment, burning in those flames of pleasure and excitement, falling again into temptation.
Both separated more agitated than before, a thread of saliva joining their swollen mouths.
"Baby I want more, could you give it to me?" you begged, your pussy ached, you needed to come "please, could you do that for me?…"
Jude let out a growl, taking you in his arms, getting up from the bed. Bumping your back against the nearest wall, he heard you gasp at the change in temperature.
And as he chastely kissed your lips he proudly raised his hips, entering and removing his big cock from your pussy.
He wanted to stay there until he died.
Your insides were so warm and tight. Like paradise. A paradise for his cock.
"You like me fucking you while you risk your parents hearing you, huh?" The dark-skinned boy said. He brought his hands to your round ass cheeks, your skin soft against his rough palms. He let out a loud smack that echoed throughout the room. —damn self-centered ass— you thought.
You tried —really tried— to moan lowly, but it was impossible, letting out high-pitched moans, naming that tall, robust man, so manly that his legs shook and he acted like a little girl in love.
You both came moaning loudly. Jude's heavy balls slammed into you, he sighed as he felt his cum fill every corner of you. He felt you tremble even more against his body.
While you whimpered and purred like a kitten when the older man began to move, this time softly, but to try to make sure no drop escaped. Your breasts caressed each other due to your labored breathing. Oh god, it had been fantastic.
"Forget about it, yeah, forget about him, yeah, forget about me"

unseen wounds
warnings: angst, panic attacks
❧ drew starkey x reader
Y/N’s apartment felt like a prison.
No matter how many times she locked the door, drew the curtains, or tried to lose herself in distractions, the weight pressing down on her chest refused to lift. The once safe space had become a place of torment—her phone constantly buzzing, flashes from paparazzi outside her building, and the memory of that night playing on a loop in her mind.
It had been a week since the incident. Since that man followed her home. His voice still echoed in her ears—disgusting, threatening, reducing her to something she didn’t recognize. And the worst part was, ever since the news broke, the paparazzi had made her life a spectacle.
“Y/N! Y/N! Look here!”
“How do you feel about the whole situation?”
“Who’s that man? do you know him!?”
Each time she stepped out, they swarmed her like vultures, their cameras flashing, questions being shouted without a shred of compassion. No matter how hard she tried to avoid them, they were relentless.
Today was worse.
A surge of anger and fear had boiled over in a crowded grocery store when a group of photographers trapped her near the exit. Her heart had raced, her vision blurred, and she’d barely managed to make it back to her car. The drive home was a haze. She hadn’t realized she was crying until she’d parked in front of her building. The trembling hadn’t stopped. Her breathing had become shallow, erratic. The panic attack hit her full force, like a wave crashing, pulling her under.
Her first instinct had been to hide, to lock herself away. But it hadn’t worked. The walls felt like they were closing in, her lungs screaming for air she couldn’t get, her heart pounding so hard she thought it might break through her chest. She tried everything—counting, breathing exercises—but nothing was working.
She couldn’t do this alone anymore.
Her trembling hands fumbled with her phone, scrolling through her contacts. She couldn’t call her parents—she didn’t want to worry them. Friends would try to help, but they wouldn’t understand this. This was a different kind of fear. A different kind of anxiety.
Then, she saw Drew’s name. She hesitated for a moment. He had been a good friend—quiet, steady, always there when she needed a listening ear. But ever since they started working together, things had felt different. There was an unspoken tension between them, something more than friendship bubbling beneath the surface. She wasn’t sure if calling him was the right thing to do, but in her panic, he was the only person she wanted near.
She pressed Call.
The phone rang once. Twice. Her heart raced with every passing second, wondering if she’d made a mistake. Maybe she shouldn’t—
“Y/N?”
His voice was steady, calm.
“Drew…” she tried to say, but her voice broke. The sobs that had been threatening to burst free finally escaped, raw and uncontrolled.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. What’s wrong?” His voice softened immediately, concern flooding his tone. “Are you okay? Where are you?”
“I—” She couldn’t form a complete sentence, the words lost in the chaos of her emotions. “I can’t… i need you.”
“I’m coming over. Just hang in there, alright? I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
She nodded, even though he couldn’t see her, and ended the call. The sound of his voice was like a lifeline, a tether to something real, something stable. She curled up on the couch, knees pulled to her chest, trying to focus on the fact that Drew was coming. He was coming.
Minutes felt like hours, but soon, she heard the knock at her door. Her body was too weak to move quickly, but she managed to get to her feet and unlock the door. The moment she opened it, Drew stepped inside, his face etched with worry.
“Y/N…” His voice was barely above a whisper, and in two steps, he closed the distance between them.
She didn’t think twice. The moment his arms were around her, she collapsed into him, her body wracked with sobs, unable to hold it together any longer. His embrace was warm, solid, and exactly what she needed. He held her tightly, one hand cradling the back of her head, the other wrapped protectively around her trembling form.
“I’m so sorry…” she choked out between sobs, her hands clutching his shirt as if letting go would cause her to fall apart entirely.
“Shh, don’t apologize. It’s okay. I’m here,” he murmured into her hair, his voice soothing as he gently rocked her. “Just breathe, okay? Focus on your breathing.”
But it wasn’t that easy. She had tried, so many times, to breathe, to focus, but her mind was a hurricane, and every time she closed her eyes, she was back there, in that moment, surrounded by strangers who wouldn’t stop. Couldn’t stop.
“I can’t… I can’t do this,” she gasped, her fingers tightening their grip on him.
“You don’t have to do it alone,” he whispered, his hand moving to gently rub her back. “You’re safe now. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
His words, though simple, broke through the storm in her mind, just enough for her to take a shallow breath. Then another. His steady presence, the calm cadence of his voice, gave her something to hold onto when everything else felt like it was falling apart.
“You’re safe,” he repeated, and for the first time in days, she believed it—if only for a moment.
Minutes passed, and slowly, her sobs subsided into quiet sniffles. She hadn’t moved from his arms, still clinging to him as if he were the only thing keeping her from falling apart completely.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled again, her voice hoarse.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to look her in the eyes, but he didn’t let go. “You don’t have to be sorry. You’ve been through a lot. I’m just glad you called me.”
Her eyes, still red and swollen from crying, searched his face. There was no judgment there, only concern. Genuine concern. “I didn’t know who else to call,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
“You did the right thing.” His thumb brushed away a stray tear from her cheek. “I’m here now, okay? I’m not going anywhere.”
The weight in her chest hadn’t completely lifted, but with Drew there, holding her like she was the most important person in the world, it was bearable. She wasn’t alone anymore.
drew’s pov:
The moment Y/N collapsed into my arms, I knew it was bad—worse than I had imagined. Her body shook with sobs, her breath coming in ragged gasps, and I held her as tightly as I could without hurting her, trying to shield her from whatever storm was raging inside.
How did it get this bad?
I had seen her overworked and exhausted before. We’d both been through the whirlwind of fame, of constant attention, but this was different. This was personal. I could feel her trembling, the fear radiating off her in waves. She wasn’t just tired—she was terrified.
“It’s okay,” I whispered, brushing her hair back from her damp cheeks. “I’m here. You’re safe now.”
Her sobs slowed, but she stayed close, gripping me like I was her only anchor. I didn’t mind. She needed me, and right now, that’s all that mattered. As her breathing started to even out, she whispered an apology, but I quickly hushed her.
“Don’t apologize, Y/N. You don’t have to do this alone.”
She didn’t reply, just let her head rest against my chest, the exhaustion finally catching up to her. I realized then how fragile she looked—so much smaller in my arms than usual, her usual spark gone, replaced by raw vulnerability.
“I think you need to get some rest,” I said softly, stroking her back, my hand tracing calming circles. “Let’s get you into bed, alright?”
She nodded weakly, barely lifting her head as I helped her up. Her legs wobbled, but I kept my arm around her, guiding her slowly towards her bedroom. The room was dimly lit, cluttered with scattered clothes and items she hadn’t had the energy to deal with. It was clear she hadn’t been taking care of herself. My heart twisted at the thought of her suffering like this, isolated, overwhelmed.
“Here, let me help,” I said gently as I reached into the drawer to grab a pair of soft pajamas. She stood in front of me, eyes downcast, too tired to protest.
With careful hands, I helped her change, my movements slow and respectful. She was silent, allowing me to guide her arms through the sleeves of her top and then helping her step into the loose-fitting pajama pants. I avoided looking at her face too much—this was already such an intimate moment, and I didn’t want her to feel any more vulnerable than she already did.
After that, I led her to the bathroom, where I ran a soft cloth under warm water, wringing it out before gently wiping her face. The coolness seemed to calm her further, her eyes fluttering closed as I moved the cloth over her cheeks and forehead. I couldn’t help but notice how fragile she seemed. Her skin was pale, her eyes red from crying, and yet, even in this state, there was something about her—something strong beneath all the fear. She wasn’t broken. Just hurting.
“Thank you,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“You don’t have to thank me, Y/N,” I murmured, leaning down a little to catch her eyes. “I’m just glad i’m able to help.”
She offered a weak smile, one that tugged at my chest, and I guided her back to the bedroom, pulling back the blankets on her bed. She crawled in, her movements sluggish, and as she settled in, I gently tucked the covers around her.
I should’ve left then. I should’ve said goodnight and let her sleep, but I couldn’t. Not yet. She was still so fragile, and I could see the lingering anxiety in her eyes. So, without saying anything, I lay down beside her, keeping a little distance, but close enough that she could reach out if she needed me.
Her head turned toward me, eyes half-lidded, and I instinctively lifted a hand to her hair, running my fingers through the soft strands. I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do, but when I felt her body relax under my touch, I knew she needed it.
I kept stroking her hair in slow, rhythmic motions, hoping it would help her drift off. “You’re safe,” I whispered again, the words soft in the quiet room. “I’m right here.”
Within minutes, her breathing slowed, the tension gradually easing from her body. Her eyes closed fully, and she fell into a deep, exhausted sleep, the kind that comes after too many sleepless nights. I stayed there for a moment longer, watching her, making sure she was truly asleep.
When I was sure she was resting, I carefully slipped out of bed, doing my best not to disturb her. She looked peaceful, the lines of anxiety smoothed away in sleep. It was a small comfort to know she was at ease, even if only for a little while.
I glanced around the room, noticing the scattered clothes, the unopened mail, the empty water bottles by the bedside. It was clear she hadn’t been able to take care of herself properly for days. I could help with that, at least.
Quietly, I began to tidy up, picking up the scattered items, folding clothes, and organizing her bedside table. I tossed the empty water bottles into the trash, feeling a strange sense of calm as I worked. It wasn’t much, but I hoped it would help, even in a small way. I wanted her to wake up and feel like things were a little less chaotic.
Once I was done, I noticed her fridge was practically empty. I couldn’t imagine she’d eaten anything substantial in days. My chest tightened again. She was running on fumes, and I needed to fix that.
I scribbled a quick note and placed it gently next to her on the bed, where she would see it when she woke up:
*“Went to the store to grab a few things. Be back soon. Rest up. –Drew”*
With one last glance at her, peaceful in sleep, I grabbed my keys and quietly slipped out of the apartment.
y/n’s pov:
I woke up with a start, the echo of a nightmare fading from my mind. I blinked against the dim light of the room, my heart racing as a wave of panic washed over me. My hand instinctively reached out to the space beside me—empty.
The familiar anxiety began creeping back in, tightening my chest. The warmth and safety I had felt in his arms just hours ago were gone, replaced by the familiar chill of loneliness. I sat up quickly, my breath catching in my throat.
And then I saw it.
A small piece of paper, right by my pillow, Drew’s familiar handwriting scrawled across it. I picked it up, my fingers trembling as I read the note.
*“Went to the store to grab a few things. Be back soon. Rest up. –Drew”*
My shoulders slumped in relief, the tightness in my chest easing. He hadn’t left. He was coming back.
I leaned back against the headboard, letting the note rest in my lap as I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. I didn’t realize how much I’d needed that reassurance until I had it. Drew had always been my rock, even when I felt like I was falling apart, and now, even in the quiet moments, he still managed to make me feel safe.
I rubbed my eyes, still heavy from sleep, and pulled the covers closer around me. The room was quiet, the soft hum of the fridge in the next room the only sound. I let my mind wander, focusing on the comfort of knowing that I wasn’t alone. For the first time in days, I felt a little lighter.
Just then, I heard the sound of the front door opening. My heart fluttered, and I sat up straighter, folding the note carefully as I placed it back on the nightstand. A moment later, Drew appeared in the doorway, balancing grocery bags in his arms, his face soft with concern but a small smile tugging at his lips when he saw me awake.
“Hey,” he said quietly, stepping into the room. “How’re you feeling?”
I gave him a tired smile, my voice still hoarse from crying. “Better. I saw your note.”
He nodded, setting the bags down on the dresser before walking over to the bed. “I didn’t want you to wake up alone and worry. Thought I’d grab a few things for you, stock up your fridge a bit.”
Tears welled up in my eyes again, but this time they weren’t from fear. They were from the overwhelming gratitude I felt in that moment. Drew was doing everything he could to take care of me, even when I felt like I didn’t deserve it.
“You didn’t have to do all this,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.
He knelt down beside the bed, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. “I wanted to. You’ve been going through too much on your own, Y/N. You don’t have to carry it all by yourself anymore.”
His words were a balm to my frayed nerves, soothing the rawness inside me. I reached out, taking his hand in mine, squeezing it lightly.
“Thank you,” I said softly. “For everything.”
Drew gave my hand a gentle squeeze in return, his thumb brushing over my knuckles. “I’m always here, you know that, right?”
I nodded, letting the warmth of his presence settle over me again. He stood up, glancing toward the kitchen. “I’m gonna put this stuff away, then I’ll make you something to eat. You probably haven’t had a real meal in a while.”
I didn’t protest this time. I knew he was right, and the thought of having him take care of something as simple as dinner was a relief. I leaned back against the pillows, watching as he disappeared into the kitchen with the grocery bags.
The sounds of him moving around, the quiet clatter of dishes and the opening of cabinets, filled the apartment, making it feel alive again. I closed my eyes, letting the sounds lull me into a peaceful calm, knowing that, for the first time in a long time, I wasn’t facing everything alone.
Drew was here.
And that made all the difference.

mornings with gguk 🧸
Tumblr media
pairing: jungkook x oc
summary: established relationship, waking up with your boyfriend on a weekend, jungkook being SUPER soft to oc, domestic couple, jungkook has a car, oc goes to college
word count: about 700
Your eyes slowly open as you squint at the sunlight gleaming through the curtains of your bedroom. Strong arms wrapped around you as your back is pressed against your boyfriends muscular chest and you hear soft snores in your ear. You smile at the sound and shift around in his hold, turning to face his chest instead.
“Hi baby,” Jungkook mumbles with his morning voice, hands carding through your hair as he presses a kiss on top of your head. “Morning, are you hungry? Want me to make you something to eat?” You speak into his chest. “Mhm-mhm, stay like this, it's too comfy” He whispers, tightening his hold on your body.
You two stayed like that for another half an hour before you decided you wanted to get up and make food for yourself. “Babee, stay here for awhile more please” your boyfriend softly whined as he trapped you in his hold, not wanting to leave you. “Kook, I’m so hungryy, please it’ll only take ten minutes max” you whine back. Jungkook reluctantly lets you go and you make your way to the kitchen.
Deciding to cook eggs for the both of you, you prepare the ingredients and take out the pan, placing it on the stove. Suddenly, a pair of arms slides around your waist and Jungkook's head rests on your shoulder. “Baby, do you want eggs?” you ask him, he hums in response and begins kissing the side of your neck, up to your jaw. “Kook if your going to do this I can’t cook your breakfast” you scold him softly, to which he responds with a “don’t care, just want you” in your ear.
Tsking at him, you choose to continue to cook, and then dish the eggs on plates all while your boyfriend clings onto you like it's the last day on earth. You two finally sit down at the table and he gulfs down the food, finishing it quickly. “So do you wanna watch a movie today? We can stay home and watch some netflix” Jungkook suggests. “Sure but I’ve got to go for a lecture today, so you’ll have to wait until after then to watch” Hearing your response, your boyfriend groans as he leans his head on the table, sulking quietly. Watching his reaction, you laugh and ruffle his hair reminding him you will be back in no time.
Jungkook later drives you to your college, kissing you goodbye and reminding you to get something to eat before you go in, to which you nod and close the car door. His car stays at the drop off point, watching you walk into the school building before driving off.
Later on while in the lecture, you hear a ‘ding’ from your phone, picking up your phone secretly, you check who the notification was from.
kook ❤️: baby did you get something to eat?
kook❤️: you end at 5pm right? ill pick you up then👍
Seeing the message from your boyfriend, you smile to yourself and look around, scanning to see if anyone was watching you secretly using your phone, before typing back:
me: yes baby i had a muffin 😊
Immediately your phone screen lit up, showing that Jungkook had replied your message instantly.
kook❤️: that’s good baby
kook❤️: also aren’t you in your lecture? you aren’t supposed to use your phone 🤨
You silently chuckle as you reply back with a ‘shhh’ to which your boyfriend tsks at, and then you turn your focus back to what the professor had been talking about.
Soon it was 5pm, and Jungkook’s black Mercedes was seen waiting for you outside the building. You walk towards the car and open the door, seeing your boyfriend looking at you and smiling widely, you close the door after getting and give him a peck on the lips before he drives off back home.
Upon reaching home, you instantly grab all the blankets and pillows you can find and pile them up on your couch just big enough for the two of you to fit. Jungkook comes out of the kitchen with popcorn in a bowl and sets it on the coffee table in front of the couch. As you browse through the movies on Netflix, you lay on Jungkook's lap as he plays with your hair.
The two of you then spend the rest of the night cuddling on the couch and binge watching marvel movies together, and you couldn’t be more happier.

HIHIHI I LOVE YOUR WRITING SM AND I SAW THAT YOUR WILLING TO WRITE FOR AMANDA YOUNG BUT IF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE IT THATS COMPLETELY OKAY ALSO!!
Can you do jealous Amanda x Fem reader? Somewhere around reader and Amanda having a complicated relationship and reader is an apprentice. Another apprentice flirts around with reader and Amanda doesn’t like it at all :$ Also some NSFW but if your not in the mood for it you don’t have to add it!
I hope you have an amazing day 😋😊
I love writing for Amanda!!!! I'm so happy to be getting more fem requests because I am a gay mf. Anyways on with the story.
-In the event that Michael Marks survived, he has became an apprentice. Michael Marks. Yknow, the key in the eyeball guy. So, let's begin.
A Deeper Understanding
Warnings: Literally nobody getting along, Jealous!Amanda, Cursing, Threatening, Fingering, Domish!Amanda, Getting Caught
John Kramer had collected quite the assortment of a team. He hoped at least one of you would continue his legacy perfectly. He'd make sure before he died that he'd live on through the lot of you. You were all currently at the workshop, bullshitting about random tests and other people you were interested in "helping". There was about four of you there, Dr. Gordon couldn't make it, like usual. Michael Marks had been your second choice, Gordon has always been your first.
His eyes traveled down your body, a look that made you feel a certain type of way, not a good way. He was your partner though, so you gave him the benefit of the doubt. "I'm glad everyone is here," John smiled a thin smile, Jill stood across from him, eyes trained on his every move. You knew that it'd been hard on her since his diagnosis. "I need your help with the scalping seat, I'm not sure it'll get done on time." He took a pause, "I've had some other things to tend to, my apologies."
He hadn't been looking at you, you weren't the mechanic of the group. John looked to you for ideas for traps. You had a knack at creating a symbolic test, one which would change the looks of the masses. Michael stepped forwards, eyes lingering on you for too long for someone who had just needed to build a trap. "I used to work as a car technician before Homeward Bound," He said, bending down and looking through the gears. "Unless Hoffman can do better." Hoffman wasn't much for Michael, he stayed silent.
"Nobody wants you to touch anything, you hardly beat your test. I don't know why John even wants you here because you're obviously not even serious about him." Amanda stood from her spot near John, she walked forwards and towered over Michael- only for Michael to size her up. "What are you even talking about?" He barked, his chest puffing. "Amanda calm down, we need to finish this trap. Brenda's test is what matters." John corrected her, his composure was always impenetrable. "No John! Have you seen this guy? He's been eye-fucking Y/N since we got here!"
Amanda's fists clenched as she yelled back at John. She seemed ready to blow a fuse, and you were thankful for it. "As far as I am concerned, He has not said anything to Y/N that has made her uncomfortable." "But-" "No, we'll deal with him later, we have to focus on the contraption now, we'll deal with him later. I need you to act level-headed if you're going to carry out my legacy." Amanda huffed, speeding past the group and into the hallway. "Amanda!" You yelled after her, jumping down from the table and following after her.
You found yourself in a grimy hallway, off to the side was an opening to what you presumed was where Amanda had went off to. You stepped forward, watching as the curtains to the archway swayed back and forth. "Amanda?" You called, and she opened the swaying curtains as you stood in front of them. "Finally got enough of Mr. Fuck-me eyes?" You shook your head. "We're not... doing anything." She nodded, stepping away to move back to a decaying workstation. You saw she had her reverse bear trap on the table, she seemed to be fixing something wrong with it.
"What are you doing to it?" You wondered, she glanced over at you for a moment. "John gave it to me to fix, fucking Hoffman took it somewhere and it broke." She gulped. "I hate this thing, but I'm about finished." Amanda was grumbling as she fixed her trap, she seemed elsewhere and you could tell that this was a coping mechanism for her. "What's wrong?"
She turned to you, and with a sigh she sneered. "I just don't understand why Michael is even here, he hardly completed his test and he's an asshole y'know?" Her voice elevated, and she turned towards you. "He's awful and I just don't understand why he can't leave you alone!" Your cheeks flushed, eyes widening as she stared right at you. "Uh-" But you cut her off, hands coming up to hold her face. It happened to turn out that she would be the one to press forward and kiss you. She only let it escalate from there when her hand moved to reach under your shirt and pull you flush against her chest.
Her nails dug into the plush of your stomach skin when she picked you up and placed you on the workbench, shoving the bear trap off to the side. Amanda placed kisses on your collarbone as you worked to pull your shirt off, and in the heat of the moment she found herself dizzy with lust. She had been dreaming about this moment since you joined the group, and she thought she might've entered her dreamworld when you finally got your shirt off. "You're fucking perfect," She mumbled, the androgynous tang of her voice flowed through your core and straight between your legs. You opened them right up.
Amanda leaned forward, tongue landing flat on your nipple and sucking at it until it pressed hard against the pad of her tongue. With her left hand, she groped you passionately, and she praised how you fit in her hand perfectly. You had leaned forward and pressed a kiss on the top of her head as she pushed your skirt up and over your ass, eager to get where she had wanted to touch most. You blessed her with it, gripping the edge of rotten wood when she hooked her long fingers inside your heat. "Shit..." She mumbled, her left hand dropping your tit to push you back by the stomach. You stumbled back against the wood with a whine, biting onto your left hand as the other gripped her wrist.
Amanda watched with an intense gaze as you moaned into your hand, she was more than interested, her left hand moving to rub circles on your clit as she fingered you. Your hips pushed against her fingers, desperate to feel more of her as she pleasured you- you knew her thoughts of Michael Marks were gone by now, her gaze enraptured by the way your cunt sucked her in. She felt herself becoming devoted as she listened to the gasps and whimpers you released of her name- you felt the same.
She began to kiss your hips as your legs shook around her fingers and your whines became more noticeable. Amanda gathered she had to be doing something right, her ego inflating as you rode her hand. "You're doing so well Y/N," She whispered, the fingers on your clit speeding up. You cried out, "I'm so close..." yelping when she pushed her fingers deeper and shushed you. You felt your insides clench and twitch, legs spreading wider as you held her wrist against your sex- whining out a flurry of "Thank yous," While you finished on her hand.
Finally, you leaned back down, huffing against your hand. You reached out to maybe grab her, and she reached to pull her shirt off. Unluckily, she didn't make it far when you heard Michael open the curtains, halfway through his sentence. "I'm sorry Amanda, I didn't- oh!" His eyes landed on you, and you yelped, flailing to cover your body as he stared.
Amanda's lip twitched in annoyance, pulling your skirt down with a little bit of attitude. You knew it wasn't directed at you though. "If you do not get the fuck out of my office, I will literally blow your brains out Michael."
And he turned around, scurrying down the hallway. Amanda turned back to you, giving you a happy kiss on the lips. "Maybe we can arrange a date this week?"

Your bedroom door swings open, the handle knocking against the short shelf of figures behind it. You clutch the black skirt in your hands and face your mother as she gives you that look. The one dripping in disappointment and loathing. She’s hungover, you can tell by how she squints.
“Are you not ready yet?” She sneers, a Louis bag dangling from her elbow.
“Almost,” you assure her, rolling your tongue nervously, “mom, are you sure I should come? Work isn’t very happy about the time off and–”
“How dare you,” she accuses, flinching at the spark of her own temper, bringing her manicure to her temple, “Lloyd has been very nice in inviting us all to the lake house and I will not have you spoil it with your attitude.”
“I wasn’t trying to… I just thought…”
“Stop thinking,” she points at you with a long shellacked nail, “you’ll ruin everything.”
You snap your mouth shut. For her, this is another vacation. You know her plans don’t extend past wine and naps in the sun. And it is supposed to be a ‘family trip’. If you don’t go, your father might just tell her to stay behind too. It’s not that she wants you to go, but she wants to be sure she gets to go.
“I’ll be ready in like ten,” you spin back to your bed and tuck the skirt into your duffle.
“Make it five,” she huffs with the click of her tongue.
She prances off and you shake your head at the stacks of clothes in front of you. You cut it down as you roll up each piece to fit into your bag. You don’t need much. You shove your chest of makeup at the end and tuck your toiletry pouch inside.
You grab your leather knapsack and slide your laptop inside with your textbooks. You wonder if you’ll even have a signal all the way up north. If not, you’ll have a lot of catching up to do. Oh well, maybe it will be nice to get away. Or maybe you’ll be in hell, trapped in an isolated cabin with your own parents.
And him.
You shove a few novels in along with your computer and zip it up. You drag your stuff towards the door and grab your jacket from the clothes rack against the far wall. The long black trench goes well over your wide-leg curtain paints and razor back halter. You pop on a wide brimmed black hat and your favourite pair of sunglasses; black lenses framed with silver.
You grab your bags and haul them out of your room, making the slow and perilous descent to the first floor. You leave your bags right behind your mother’s pile of matching Louis luggage and wiggle your feet into your clunky Mary Janes.
Your mother emerges with a sunhat and a pair of large square framed sunglasses. She winks at you as she tucks a flask into her purse. You say nothing and cross your legs, perching on the bench impatiently.
“Is that what you’re wearing?” She harrumphs.
“Yeah?” You look down.
“You don’t have anything… lighter? It’s sunny out.”
You shrug, “we’ll just be in the car.”
You stare at her bags. How much does she need to bring? The physics of packing all of it into the SUV worries you. You fully expect to be crammed in next to her bandouliere bag.
“Constance!” Your father’s voice booms as his steps pound onto the porch. You look at the screen door as he rips it open, “well,” he stops short inside, “I told you to start bringing your shit out.”
“I told you, my shoulder,” your mother pouts, “yell at your daughter, she’s the one sitting around.”
Your father huffs and grabs her largest bag, pointing at you then the rest of her things, “well, let’s get this going. I don’t wanna be driving past midnight.”
You get up and grab two of the lighter bags. You roll your eyes behind your lenses, knowing you won’t be caught. You follow your father out the front door, the weight of your mother’s excess chafing your fingers. What did she pack?
The hatch door of the SUV is already open. Your father’s things are neatly placed against the wall of the trunk. He hikes up your mother’s suitcase in the other side and it takes up much of the remaining space. You place the two in hand on top and ponder the last three. It’s like a very unfortunate game of Tetris.
“Go,” your father snaps his fingers, “get the rest.”
You don’t argue. As you come up on the porch, your mother emerges with a bright pink travel tumbler in hand, slurping on the straw as your left to wonder at the contents. You dip inside and retrieve her smallest bags; a perfect circular valise and two more oblong ones.
You hand them off to your father and he grumbles under his breath as he tries to fit them into the hatch. You return to the house to get your own bags. You won’t mind sitting with your own things.
The backseat offers little hope as you find a large cooler taking up more than half of its length and fishing rods across the floor. So, where exactly are you supposed to sit?
As you stare, perplexed by the puzzle of your own belonging, a horn toots and a car rolls up the driveway, coming just short of your father as he turns to stare down the Bentley. You keep your knapsack on your shoulder and your bag clutched tight.
You face Mr. Hansen as he climbs out of his car, leaning on the door as he looks over it at your dad, “Ray Ray, ready to go?”
“Just loading up,” your father answers.
“Holy shit,” Mr. Hansen snorts, “you know you’re not moving in for good, right?”
“Connie’s shit,” your father snarls.
Hansen shuts his car door as he strides up the tarmac. His focus shifts as he sees you standing listless. He flicks his sunglasses up and gives a crooked smirk.
“Hey, sunshine,” he greets, “uh, Ray,” he stops, just a few inches from you, pivoting towards the back of the SUV, “where exactly is the baby girl supposed to fit? You strapping her to the roof?”
“She’ll squeeze in,” you father dimisses.
“For eight hours?” Hansen’s fingers tickle along the back of your arm and he squeezes just above his elbow, “I got lots of room.”
“I don’t care. Take her, then,” your father barks, “I got Lonny bringing up supplies, I don’t needa worry about all that.”
“Hear that, starbright, go toss your things in mine,” Hansen twirls his keyring and holds it out to you, “lots of legroom.”
“Um, it’s fine–”
“Don’t argue,” your father slams the hatch door. “He’s right, we don’t got the space.”
You could suggest your mother leaves a few things behind but you know that will only end the same. You take Hansen’s keys and thank him. He grins and steps back, not much, just enough for you to pass, just close enough for you to brush against him.
You go down the drive, surprised to find yourself trailed by another set of steps. You glance over your shoulder as Hansen circles around you, “bottom button, sunny.”
You hit the fob and the trunk pops open. He seizes your bag before you can react and puts it in next to his. You slip your knapsack down your arm and he just as quickly has it in hand.
“Couldn’t imagine eight hours in a car with those two,” he says quietly, “you’re welcome.”
“Uh, yeah, thanks.”
You cross your arms and step back as he closes the trunk. He keeps his hand on the sleek pant and eyes you up and down. He tilts his head and his tongue pokes out.
“You feel like driving,” he asks, “I don’t mind.” He pats the butt of the car, “she handles well.”
“Um, it’s okay…”
“Come on, you get the first hour and we can switch at the rest stop,” he goads, “I woke up fuckshit early.”
“Alright, I guess,” you keep the keys in your hand and go to step around him.
“Wait, wait,” he blocks your path, “one more thing.”
“Alright?” You frown.
“I didn’t say…” he reaches to tap the brim of your hat, “you look fucking good.”
You don’t know how to respond. You’re unused to compliments and a simple thank you would do but something about his tone has you tongue-tied. You wipe away your chagrin and try to smile. Your lips just quiver and fall straight.
“Right, let’s stop dragging ass,” he spins and struts up the driveway, “Ray,” he calls to your dad, “here’s the spare key. In case you get ahead of us.”
You chew your lip and slowly walk along the side of the car. You unlock the doors and open the driver’s side. You reticently get in and take off your hat, twisting to throw it in the backseat. You turn straight and adjust the seat and steering wheel. It’s a really nice car.
The passenger door opens and Lloyd drops in, sliding the seat all the way back as he stretches his legs. You leave the keys in the cupholder and push the ignition. The engine rolls as you take in the breadth of controls. Nothing too unusual.
“What’s that shade of lipstick called?” Lloyd leans on the armrest of his seat, “how many shades of black can they sell?”
“Um, I don’t know,” you fix the mirror.
“Like those glasses. Where’d you get them?”
“Amazon,” you answer as you shift into reverse, the camera showing on the console screen. You grip the wheel and slowly back out.
“Now, don’t be afraid to put that foot down once we hit the highway,” he says, “she’s got a lot of power. She can handle it.”
“Mhmm,” you stop at the end of the driveway and look both ways down the street. “Got it.”
🖤
As promised, you trade places with Lloyd after the first hour. He’s a bit more heavy-footed and you find yourself with your hand on the door as you brace yourself with his careless and aggressive passing. You’re a cautious driver and his style has you almost dizzy. You’re not bold enough to tell him to slow down.
“Isn’t this nice?” He asks, “no squabbling middle-aged assholes to listen to.”
“Sure,” you grasp the seat belt as you keep a wary gaze through the windshield.
“Hopefully it’s only more of this, baby,” he continues, “my house, my rules. You don’t worry about mommy and daddy.”
You nod and hold back a squeak as he swoops in front of another car. You wish you had kept driving. You hate this.
“I’ll be working on my tan as daddy does all the hard work,” he scoffs, “been a long year.”
You listen, almost curious as he’s rarely anything close to transparent. You would never imagine him having a bad day. He seems to carry it with that no fucks given strut. He swerves again and you can’t help but elicit a rather pathetic noise.
“Mr. Hansen, can you… slow down a little?” You ask.
He doesn’t answer right away but he does as you request. “I get it, you wanna enjoy our time together,” he snickers.
“Uh, well, I get a bit carsick,” you utter.
“Ah,” he accepts with an air of disappointment, “can I ask you something?”
“Okay.”
“Can you call me Lloyd? This Mr. Hansen business makes me feel old as shit. I’m not, you know, I got all my faculties,” he lets out a small chuckle, “just so you know.”
“Right, Lloyd, sorry,” you say, “dad just… you’re his friend so he–”
“Yeah, real tight ass but damn good at what he does. The biggest fuckers always are,” he scoffs.
“I guess…”
“So, those girls, they bug you again?” He keeps the same pace in conversation as he does driving. You’re disoriented by the flip.
“Haven’t seen them, no…”
“You know, they’re just jealous,” he says, “I know girls like that. I’ve f– met a lot. They’re not worth it.” He shakes his head and laughs, “hate to say it, but your mom is one of those. Never a nice thing to say about anyone but herself.”
You lean into the seat and bend your arms in front of your stomach. You know that. Deep down, you know your family is imperfect, you just didn’t realise how obvious it is.
“You’re young. Shit’s tough when you’re figuring it out.”
“Yeah,” you murmur.
“You got Spotify or something?” He asks abruptly, once more jarring you. “Got bluetooth in here. May as well put something on, we got time.”
“Right, uh, I could…” you dig your phone out as he pushes buttons on the steering wheel with his thumb. The screen flashes with the pairing symbol.
You find the right connection and scroll through your playlists. You don’t know if he’ll like any of those. Maybe you could find something generic.
“What do you like?” You ask.
He answers with a chortle, “nah, you put something on. I wanna hear your music.”
“Well, it’s a bit… of an acquired taste.”
“My car, my rules, put your music on,” he demands.
You resign and tap shuffle on your weekly mix. Joy Division drones from the random selection and you black out the screen. You’re comforted by the familiar tones.
“Holy fuck,” Lloyd says, “this is old shit. Before my time, even.”
“Uh, yeah,” you reply, “it’s just a shuffle–”
“Not complaining,” he smirks, “glad I actually know this one.”
You exhale and try to relax. It’s going to be a long ride and you're thankful he opened that door. You don’t know how much longer you could handle his chaotic conversation. Only six hours or so, you can make it if you have music.
