At least once every day, I think about Primo’s costume and Nihil’s costume and I almost want to laugh because just look at this shit
The contrast is just wild.
Primo’s costume is exactly that: It’s made with that same shiny materials as a Disney Princess dress-up outfit is. Meanwhile, Nihil’s is all extravagant and I look at that and I’m like “Yeah, that is indeed a Satanic Pope of the Satanic Church, mhm.”
And I absolutely understand why this is. I completely understand that when Tobias started Ghost, there just wasn’t enough in the budget for something too insane. I mean, Primo’s mask is a generic old man’s. They just needed enough of the costume to communicate what they were about and, for as costumey (derogatory) as it was, it did just that. Well done, Tobias and Primo.
But then. Ghost’s costuming just gets more and more intense and ornate with each passing guy until you wind up with Copia, who is essentially a blue art deco disco ball.
So you kinda just. Have to look at Primo and try to reconcile some sort of in-universe explanation as to why his father and brothers are all dripped to the devils while he’s. Like that.
Personally, I like the idea that his devotion to Satan means he doesn’t care as much about his appearance because, in his mind, obsessing over detail distracts from his message about his god.
Or, better yet, as we recognize that Primo was actually batshit insane and hated people, he probably was just asked by the satanic tailors what touches he would like done to his chasuble and he just went “Idfc we’re all trash and are gonna die anyway, just make sure it has red on or or whatever 😒”
#papa emeritus#papa emeritus I#papa nihil#alternatively Primo knew he could captivate an audience with his charisma alone#the band ghost#ghost bc#Terzo: Fratello I must ask — WHAT IS THOOOOOOSSEEE!!??#Primo: My mitre you absolute fucktoad#Nihil: Children please it is not my fault you did not inherit my sick style

In my Zeus bag today so I'm just gonna put it out there that exactly none of the great Ancient Greek warrior-heroes stayed loyal and faithful and completely monogamous and yet none of them have their greatness questioned nor do we question why they had the cultural prominence that they did and still do.
Jason, the brilliant leader of the Argo, got cold feet when it came to Medea - already put off by some of her magic and then exiled from his birthland because of her political ploys, he took Creusa to bed and fully intended on marrying her despite not properly dissolving things with Medea.
Theseus was a fierce warrior and an incredibly talented king but he had a horrible temper and was almost fatally weak to women. This is the man who got imprisoned in the Underworld for trying to get a friend laid, the man who started the whole Attic War because he couldn't keep his legs closed.
And we cannot at all forget Heracles for whom a not inconsiderable amount of his joy in life was loving people then losing the people around him that he loved. Wives, children, serving boys, mentors, Heracles had a list of lovers - male and female - long enough to rival some gods and even after completing his labours and coming down to the end of his life, he did not have one wife but three.
And y'know what, just because he's a cultural darling, I'll put Achilles up here too because that man was a Theseus type where he was fantastic at the thing he was born to do (that is, fight whereas Theseus' was to rule) but that was not enough to eclipse his horrid temper and his weakness to young pretty things. This is the man that killed two of Apollo's sons because they wouldn't let him hit - Tenes because he refused to let Achilles have his sister and Troilus who refused Achilles so vehemently that he ran into Apollo's temple to avoid him and still couldn't escape.
All four of these men are still celebrated as great heroes and men. All four of these men are given the dignity of nuance, of having their flaws treated as just that, flaws which enrich their character and can be used to discuss the wider cultural point of what truly makes a hero heroic. All four of these men still have their legacies respected.
Why can that same mindset not be applied to Zeus? Zeus, who was a warrior-king raised in seclusion apart from his family. Zeus who must have learned to embrace the violence of thunder for every time he cried as a babe, the Corybantes would bang their shields to hide the sound. Zeus learned to be great because being good would not see the universe's affairs in its order.
The wonderful thing about sympathy is that we never run out of it. There's no rule stopping us from being sympathetic to multiple plights at once, there's no law that necessitate things always exist on the good-evil binary. Yes, Zeus sentenced Prometheus to sufferation in Tartarus for what (to us) seems like a cruel reason. Prometheus only wanted to help humans! But when you think about Prometheus' actions from a king's perspective, the narrative is completely different: Prometheus stole divine knowledge and gifted it to humans after Zeus explicitly told him not to. And this was after Prometheus cheated all the gods out of a huge portion of wealth by having humans keep the best part of a sacrifice's meat while the gods must delight themselves with bones, fat and skin. Yes, Zeus gave Persephone away to Hades without consulting Demeter but what king consults a woman who is not his wife about the arrangement of his daughter's marriage to another king? Yes, Zeus breaks the marriage vows he set with Hera despite his love of her but what is the Master of Fate if not its staunchest slave?
The nuance is there. Even in his most bizarre actions, the nuance and logic and reason is there. The Ancient Greeks weren't a daft people, they worshipped Zeus as their primary god for a reason and they did not associate him with half the vices modern audiences take issue with. Zeus was a father, a visitor, a protector, a fair judge of character, a guide for the lost, the arbiter of revenge for those that had been wronged, a pillar of strength for those who needed it and a shield to protect those who made their home among the biting snakes. His children were reflections of him, extensions of his will who acted both as his mercy and as his retribution, his brothers and sisters deferred to him because he was wise as well as powerful. Zeus didn't become king by accident and it is a damn shame he does not get more respect.
#ginger rambles#ginger chats about greek myths#greek mythology#It's Zeus Apologist day actually#For the record Jason is my personal favourite of these guys#The argonauts are extremely underrated for literally no reason#And Jason's wit and sheer ability to adapt along with his piousness are traits that are so far away from what usually gets highlighted#with the typical Greek warrior-hero that I've just never stopped being captivated by him#Conversely I still do not understand what people see in Achilles#I respect him and his legacy I respect the importance of his tale and his cultural importance I promise I do#However I personally can't stand the guy LMAO#How do you get warned twice TWICE both by your mother and by Athena herself that going after Apollo's children is a bad idea#And still have the audacity to be mad and surprised when Apollo is gunning for Specifically You during the war you're bringing to His City#That You Specifically and Exclusively had a choice in avoiding#ACHILLES COULD'VE JUST SAID NO#I know that's not the point however so many other members of the Greek camp were simply casualties of Fate in every conceivable way man#Achilles looked at every terrible choice he could possibly make said “Well I'm gonna die anyway 🤷🏽” and proceeded to make the choice#so hard that he angered god#That's y'all's man right there#I left out Perseus because truthfully I don't actually know much about him#I haven't studied him even a fraction as much as I've studied some of the other big culture heroes and none of this is cited so i don't wan#to talk about stuff I don't know 100%#Anyway justice for Zeus fr#Gimme something give me literally anything other than the nonsense we usually get for him#This goes for Hera too btw#Both the king and queen of the skies are done TERRIBLY by wider greek myth audiences and it's genuinely disheartening to see#If y'all could make excuses for Achilles to forgive his flaws y'all can do it for them#They have a lot more to sympathise with I'll tell you that#(that is a completely biased statement; you are completely free and encouraged to enjoy whichever figures spark joy)#zeus

i know a lot of people are trying to put ivan and till's relationship and feelings into a clearer perspective but i think yall r forgetting that like. they were put into anact garden as children. their whole lives theyve only known other children and alien overlords. theyve probably never had an adult human to look up to. its only natural that the relationships they have with each other exceed the titles and definitions we're used to, because the conditions of their lives are fundamentally different than ours.
#we dont actually know how long its been since earth was invaded either#i personally think most of them are the product of some kind of human breeding program. tagged with their names on their body like livestoc#i have no proof of course but how else would they be owning and selling children from such a young age#unless the names are a brand of anact garden itself and not just being a human born in alien captivity#that might make more sense actually i dont think they had them in mizisua#alnst#alien stage

Just realized that Dr. Thorn in book three thought it was a grand old idea to stick the son of Poseidon who was specifically warned to never fly again or die on a helicopter to get him to the Titans.
#big brain move for sure#clever way of starting a war between Zeus and Poseidon ig#Cause it certainly wasn't a way of getting those big three kids that he had captive to the Titans#Not Percy a known son of Poseidon#or Bianca and Nico unknown children of Hades#by the Gods he was not thinking#life speaks#pjo#percy jackson#bianca di angelo#nico di angelo#dr. pisses you off by reading lots of greek drama and loving medea the most in every translation
#anna.txt#as usual i cannot be expected to give a shit when people play the 'is it FEMINIST to kill your children???' card#be fucking for real.#she's meant to be tragic. he wrote her that way. he uses her to speak to how wronged foreign women are.#as he uses the trojan women to speak to the condition of enslaved captives of war#euripides was not a feminist. he died in 406 bce#if you are so busy policing whether people are too sympathetic to a fictional woman that you can't spare a moment to ask yourself#what his concerns about the condition of women in this ancient play may actually be#then you are even less feminist than that#reread tag#a tag for bitching

abusers: You'd never survive out there. You wouldn't be able to even feed yourself without us. You're too stupid and too clumsy and too naive to make it. You'd be dead in a ditch within a week. You're incapable of independence and you're only alive because we keep you alive.
abusers: We're going to kick you out! You owe us for keeping you alive! You're eating our food! You'll do what you're told while you're living under our roof!
(these two scenarios together imply a death threat; they're coercing you into doing things against your will or you're threatened with dying on the street, meaning these people convince you that you'll be dead if you disobey them, or outright telling you they'd rather have you dead than free.)
#death threat#psychological abuse#holding someone's life over their head while ordering them to do things against their will#keeping children captive with threats and coercion#brainwashing#implied death threat#coercion#abuse tactics#sabotaging escape#escape sabotage#freedom sabotage#keeping someone alive only to control them and use them#disgusting abusive behaviour

Having (probably stupid) thoughts on Húrin and Aerin parallels (a rare post where it’s mostly in the tags because I’m unsure if it means anything yet)
#the children of húrin#it’s the captivity and continued defiance and being forced to watch the suffering of your kin#whether among them on the ground but still set apart from them (Aerin)#or chained from afar (Húrin)#and like#if you consider the Wanderings to be canon also the fires#I know the fire in the Wanderings is not exactly the same but like it could be!#also these parallels make me even more angry about Túrin’s treatment of Aerin#Aerin#Húrin#they have fired the hall

if you ever feel like you’re bad at your job just remember that joe jonas’ own pr team managed to turn the internet’s view of him from completely neutral to public enemy number one in the span of 48 hours
#turns out badmouthing the mother of your children in the press on a daily basis doesn’t make people like you! whoda thunk!#especially when the things you’re badmouthing her for are *checks notes*#1. booking one (1) role after being a stay-at-home wife and mom for 4 years#and leaving you with the arduous task of… being a father to your children while she’s at work#2. allegedly wanting to party (even though both of you have said in the past that she’s an introverted homebody)#(but even if she wasn’t partying is not a crime especially when sophie turner is 27 and has spent most of her 20s at home)#3. saying something on a ring camera#i don’t normally care about celebrity drama but i’m captivated by how every new article meant to make joe jonas look good#ends up just making people hate him more

Also funny how while Ketheric is my least favorite villain from the Dead Three Chosen, he def is the one I respect the most.
Orin and Gortash are just problem children with behavior issues and delusions of grandeur. Ketheric tho? He just wanted his daughter back.
#bg3 spoilers#ketheric thorm#orin the red#enver gortash#lord gortash#I love both orin and gortash to the death but by the gods they're ridiculous. So hard to take seriously when you know all the details#and durge pre-memory loss was even worse#Who made these losers the leaders? look at them they create horrors and look silly in the process#wdym orin plays with her corpsy-dollies#wdym gortash is such a nerd ketheric sends him some strange stuff his recruits find?#wdym durge speaks LIKE THAT and wrote a whole ass letter to their father bc they got 1(ONE) friend and possibly lover#meanwhile ketheric is the only sane villain#sitting there like in the kindergarden#@bhaal come take your children they're being ridiculous#@bane your chosen is having his unethical experiments on the captives and doesn't clean after. Yes#again. Balthazar complained.#teach him to clean after himself. are you a god of tyranny or what?

this being the first theory battler has lampshaded and discarded as a joke is making me extremely 👁
#umineko liveblog#like. everything else has been taken seriously even when it's stupid#but this is outright dismissed the second it's mentioned. surely not..........#ough but wait. the possibility of the captive beatrice falling pregnant is rather high#and there are several plausible scenarios with which a hidden child could work#i mean if we go full cliche then the answer here is that nanjo somehow helped beatrice hide the child#making him like double compromised with kinzo. almost like a moral stalemate even#also given the date the mansion was built we can assume this kid would be in their early/mid 30s present day#only known candidate on rokkenjima who fits the criteria would be rosa but that doesn't really makes sense#either that or gohda is a good 10-15 years younger than you'd think he is#but then i'm thinking about the ushiromiya shannon stuff and wondering if there isn't an orphanage link#not that shannon's the beatrice child because she's 15 years too young for that#but perhaps the kid was concealed in the orphanage and this is where the furniture stuff comes in?#every single servant kid is less than human unless they prove themselves to be a worthy substitute for the lost child#and the abuse comes from the fact that they also bear the brunt of kinzo's rage at this kid for having slipped out of his grasp#and of course none of the servant children can ever compare to kinzo's ideal so the cycle perpetuates forever#furniture in that they're being punished for not innately being an ushiromiya successor#this also feeds into the beatrice/kinzo becoming stuff too at a slightly different angle#the children are brought on expected to carry fragments of both beatrice and kinzo and tormented when they fail to do so#meanwhile i genuinely think if a beatrice kid existed they would presently be extremely far removed from rokkenjima#like some random well adjusted adult who knows very little of their origins#meaning that even if kinzo ever found this person they too would not be a fitting ushiromiya successor#yeah i think there might be some potential for this kind of theory

I also spoke with Ren about an Arcane verse for Satoru who is most likely a political hostage from his slain clan in Noxus. Everyone thought taking him was a good idea due to his insight of prophecy && usage of cosmic magic only to realize, perhaps, he was not the hostage but they are. So, he's kept on a thin leash while mocking the lack of innovation of Piltover && greatly sympathizing with the underclass. He's given free roam at times to stretch his legs though his stylization of dress, mannerism of strange melodic like speaking, along with the usage of his eyes continue to be a strong warning of his magic && apex predator nature.
#// the region produces strong warriors so ....!!!#// love it being like well we have this weird cat who says prophetic nonsense#// then the cat bites his captive's hands#OUT.*#// the children speaking to this tall white hair man who shows them the solar system in his palms#// who never shows his eyes but you can feel them all over
