alright what stupid modi are the swapped kids using
we actually have an anwser for this! We figured them out a while ago.
Rose Egbert
Rose uses the Forum Modus
This modus works by sorting its cards into "Threads". Each thread (10 max.) is defined by a topic, i.e. "electronics" or "books". Similar to Tech-Hop, only cards containing items that fit into that topic can be stored within the threads. If an item that doesn't fit the threads topic is captchaloged and placed within a thread, the thread will become Locked, making all items inside the thread unaccessable. The modus has a preset setting allowing for preset thread topics to be applied at anytime, though this will eject the entire deck, including locked thread cards.
John Lalonde
John uses the canon Ouija modus.
To recap for those who have forgotten, the Ouija modus makes it so captchalogued items can be retrieved at anytime, but the user does not choose the item retrieved. The spirits do.
Jade Strider
Jade uses the Clay Pidgeon modus
Captchaloged items will be stored inside a clay pidgeon as the name suggests. When retrieving an item, the clay pidgeon will be ejected from the deck, and the user must shoot it with a firearm to retrieve the item. If the user missed their shot, the pidgeon is returned to the deck once it goes out of range.
Dave Harley
Dave uses the Vintage Array modus
It works exactly the same as the modern Array Modus, except for the fact that is old and shitty. Maybe-not-real dust is stuck inside of the maybe-not-real cartridge, causing it to experience errors, sometimes retrieving the wrong item or even ejecting the entire deck. Item retrieval is also lagged.

A summary/review of parts 1-100 of Homestuck
~by a gecko who knows what a Megalovania is
Let's start things quick and simple. It is the distant year of 2009, where the date is the 13th of April. It is the protagonist John Egbert (aka Zoosmell Pooplord)'s birthday. How fun!
John's actions are very much based around RPG mechanics (the Sylladex, Captchaloging, etc.), which as indicated by the chatlogs seems to be the norm in this world.
Once he opens the magic chest in his room, he gets access to a variety of artifacts, some of which he'll use later. He only takes the smoke pellets at first because he's stupid.
We get some glimpses of the author Andrew Hussie's dated yet charming late-2000's humour through asking John to shit on his desk.
After nailing a Little Monsters poster to his wall (a gift from his Dad), he gets a message from one of his friends on Pesterchum, TG, who says that he got the beta for SBURB for John's birthday.
However, his dad has just come home and John doesn't want to go through the trouble of holding a conversation with him. In the meantime, he figures out how to use his Strife Specibus by allocating the Hammerkind Abstratus, and reads the GameBro magazine, which John seems to have a loathing for.
However, with the freed up room in his Sylladex, he creates a convincing disguise to fool his dad and grab the SBURB beta (it won't).
He goes downstairs into the living room, examines his father's shitty harlequins, knocks over and picks up his Nanna's ashes and opens a large gift for himself, which is also a large harlequin.
Before deciding to sticking fake arms on the harlequin, John gets a message from another Pesterchum mutual, TT.
TT oddly knows everything that John has done up to this point, including being in possession of the SBURB beta and wearing a funny disguise. They tell him to go get the game from his father from downstairs.
After snooping around his father's study and playing a little tune (which is a great way that Homestuck utilizes its medium), John heads outside to the mailbox, to find that dad has already scooped the mail.
But there's a sense that something isn't quite right. With "Windchime Foley" by Clark Powell playing over empty streets and a main title appearing, it implies this scene is the true beginning of the story. The text mentions a "Desolation" that's playing the tune diegetically throughout the streets/town. Maybe it will be a long day.
John heads back inside to finally confront his father and sneakily get the beta, but oops! The disguise didn't work (who would've thunk it?), and there's only to get pass him, which is with a Strife!
(This fight scene's really cool, I quite enjoy this)
After the Colonel's book activates the smoke pellets, John quickly snatches his father's PDA as a joke, and finally gets his hands on the SBURB beta, which is where I ended off.
So is it good? I mean, yeah.
Even if I only read what is a tiny, tiny fraction of Homestuck's story, I can still see how so many people became obsessed over it. The cutesy, almost surreal art style (complete with low quality JPEGS in the vein of Newgrounds), Hussie combining the mystical with the silly in his writing, and the brief bits of music in it illustrate a very "calm before the storm" feeling. I can definitely see how people like Toby Fox were inspired by it.
Despite what some think, the first little bits of Homestuck are an enjoyable experience which foreshadows something bigger yet to come. Solid 8.

been playing minestuck with wife (she's never heard of homestuck) and it's fun seeing her confused about all the random complicated bullshit like the alchemy system or captchaloging things
also she put a cruxtruder on my roof
#it really is an amazing mod#nearly everything associated with sburb is in it (with the rest apparently planned to be added)#it's got the unique land based on your aspect (wife is a space player so got a frog land which she greatly enjoyed)#alchemy system (i made a raw steak sword earlier)#server/client player stuff and grist and all that#gates to go between lands#consorts you can chat and trade with#etc etc etc etc#it's so good#skaia IS in it but you can only get there via creative mode so i assume it isn't done

So we’ve got a thief of void and he’s doing a bunch of wild shit, wondering how much of this is intentional or not.
1. Creating grist
2. Creating alchemized items without an alchemiter
3. Creating captchaloge cards
4. Creating more strife cards
5. Creating consoles connected to the games code
6. Creating a g-mod tool gun and spawning carapacians with it.
7. Creating a fucking quest bed
Listen it’s helpful but I’d rather if these are bugs that the bugs would be fixed because he’s stealing all the goddamn spotlight too.
On it :)
Sincerely
SN Tech Support (Gear)

hi!!! I wanted to say I'm so so excited for the captchalog bags!!! I'm wondering how long after the initial run you are planning to do other colors (if you still are!) blue was my favorite and I'm deciding if I can justify getting a pink now and blue later or just wait until blue is out :?c
hi hi!! :D ty for the support!!!!
this run, i’ll do pink and purple, starting from sahcon and ending uhh…probably about a month from when i open preorders!
next run, i’ll do yellow and blue! and that run will probably Also be at sahcon, but next year! so around the same time 2025!
not just because it’s Funny Homestuck Day but also because the production of this run will probably take quite a while, definitely a few months at the minimum, and then i’ll need a break from thinking about it AJSKDKSKS

What're your favorite fetch modi/strife specibi? (Including fan-adventures' ones)
Wallet, Queuestack Array, and Message in a Bottle are great fetch modi. I had headcanon the fishing toy game to be this for Eridan's fetch modus. Items Eridan captchalogs becomes these plastic fish and he has to reel it in to get it.
For strife specibi, basically ones that has guns. Riflekind, pistolkind, shotgunkind, I love me my firearms. There is a lot to play around with these kinds of things. A fetch modus based on jigsaw puzzles (to retrieve item, one must complete a picture of the object in question), roulette wheel, bamboo noodle slide... Besides proper function of inventory systems, ones that act as mini games are unique too.

Hello, I am S. Harrison
I am hoping that you shed some light on the topic known as “Homestuck”. I am currently researching it for scientific purposes to better understand the history of Rotomblr and how the “magic anon” phenomenon has come to be and how we could harness it.
From:
-@anonymousmagic-phenomenon
(Delete later: why does this “John Egbert” character not use their hands? It would be more efficient than this “captchalog” function)
Uhhh. What's Homestuck got to do with... eh, forget it. (There's probably better people to ask than me, I read this thing a while ago.)
It's this webcomic that starts out as four kids playing a video game that ends the world and creates a new one, but turns into something... really fucking convoluted. It was ultra-mega popular on Rotomblr for a while, though, and so it's sorta got, like... its own memetic history. Dunno if that helps you with magic anons though...
(Also, you can't 'delete later' on an ask. But that's just the way the comic works? The fun is in how stupid and convoluted it is.)

reverze m&duz! t& get my shit &ut i h&ve t& repl&ce it with z&mething th&t h&z &n &pp&zite tr&it. like if i w&nt my delici&uz h&t never&ge i need t& repl&ce it with & piece &f ice. it.. it'z &ctually re&lly inc&nvenient. it zeemed like & g&&d ide& @ the time. i juzt w&nt my b&ttle &f icyh&t... it'z been z& l&ng.
►◄► Convenience. 1/3 ◄►◄
►◄► This is awful, but at least theoretically possible in most cases. If I remember correctly the reverse modus was one of the middling releases- some of them shipped with options to change what setting is considered as an opposite. If you have the universal one they released later then it probably would be easy as long as you have the mental energy to justify how something is an opposite. Try switching it with something that, when applied to carapace or skin, would make it ache or numb. Bleach or raw sopor powder comes to mind. ◄►◄
►◄► Simplicity. 2/3 ◄►◄
►◄► One of the Modi with simple instructions on the surface but it still requires you to switch items, which sucks. Have you tried getting around this by captchalogging "nothing?" I believe I saw a forum somewhere where a troll with a reverse line modus found it easy to bypass the restriction by switching things with mass, with things that do not have mass, i.e. 'nothing. Later releases seem to have patched this out though' ◄►◄
►◄► Scrutability. 2/3 ◄►◄
►◄► Not the most inscrutable, but the reverse modus was released around the time Distant Rim Tech. was going through their early metaphysical phase, so it has some inherent inscrutability. ◄►◄
►◄► 5/10, ok modus. ◄►◄

Peliper mail!
An experimental type of storage device that can store anything, no matter how heavy, into small lightweight cards. It has multiple modules to store things in, modes (like array, pictionary and such) and a lot of cards you can take things in and out of. It's called a silladex, and storing things in it is called captchalog
Also, a device similar to the silladex called a strife specubus, that lets you hold any weapon in a card of a specific type that you first put into it and summon it with ease. There are three type cards with three weapon cards each.
Plus, a pokeball holder.
This is an incredibly nonsensical device. Thank you though! I will not be using this, but maybe our scientists can make use of it.

i can imagine the first few pages of Textstuck:
A young man sits in his Arcade. His name is…
>Enter Name
He was given a name for his 13th birthday, so you cannot name him! His name is on the counter.
> ==>
Your name is Jota phobia.
Oh GOD do you love ARCADE MACHINES.
You own this ARCADE and have a SUIT that you CONTROL WITH A GAME CONTROLLER. Your hobbies include LOVING an ANON named DASHES, stopping SOMEONE from KILLING EVERYONE, RUNNING this ARCADE, BEING FRIENDS with other TEXT DOCTORS, and INTERACTING with EXCLAIMS.
Today you have been asked to play a game with your fellow ASCII people and your anon friends, a game that will change your lives!
Now, what will you do?
>Jota: Find arms
You find your Trusty Pistol.
>Jota: Equip
You are unsure what this means, but you use your new ARCADE MODUS to captchalog your Trusty Pistol. It is green. You love green.
Its not homestuck anymore now its arcadestuck

hi! i wanted to know about what makes you ship kan/por? genuinely! despite being in the fanbase a long time it isn't something i've seen before so im curious! - captchaloging <- sideblog so i had to send on anon
ouh that is so interesting!! i thought it was much more popular!! all the fics ive read that have them both, have them as moirails as the default so it really is surprising its not that popular of a ship, outside of ao3 cronkri fics i guess lol
anyway for why i like it ummmm *insert my classic "my gf was into homestuck before me and they like this thing so now like it too" here* <3 i actually went into openbound thinking they were moirails canonically probably bc they were misremembering it. it has been a while seen they've read the comic!!
but it also just... seems canon to me that porrim at least has a pale crush on kankri lol
u could also read it as her acting motherly to everyone (like her convo with latula) but she specifically sees kankri a bit differently due to how their alternian counterparts' relationship was
now obv they arent exactly the same relationship, but in their society the closest thing here would b moirallegiance(esp with this fate talk an such) and they also dont really understand that sort of relationship like we do
and then the grub sauce scene happens u get it (plus they are the same age. ppl tend to view porrim as older subconsciously bc of how she acts but she is indeed 19 like the rest of them)
as for kankri u can make a case he does not reciprocate lmao but i see it as him trying to completely reject any form of coddling bc of possibly being culled in the past. he still clearly cares for porrim, they are shown as good friends even if they squabble a lot (u can make a point for blackrom porkri actually im so down for that)
anyway not to ramble, i obv see them as pale. i havent seen any red porkri ever really and some ppl dont tag pale ships with ship tags so there's prob some shippers out there that just dont tag it as such lol
