Do you think pressure from higher-ups,say the studio and network, resulted in the lackadaisical treatment of steroline? I have a feeling Julie wanted the show to be more Defan focused once Nina left.She also claims to ship SC.But steroline was often treated as C-plot which is why it's really difficult to believe when Julie says she never wanted to compromise the power of steroline.Her words lack credibility because they do not align with how she wrote them in the last two seasons.Julie herself said she wanted to see if she could write a season where the main couple are happy together & that steroline will be like a mature,real life relationship yet we got the exact opposite of that on the show.Barring the time Candice was on leave to give birth,their relationship was riddled with lack of communication and incredibly mediocre plots.Then came KW who is a legit SE fanboy.I also don't believe her when julie said KC put a wrench on SC.If KC had,even, 1% impact on the business-of-it-all, then Candice would have been announced a lead on The Originals and KC, the reigning ship on that show.

Hmm. I don’t think so. I haven’t heard anything about the higher-ups pressuring the TVD writers about ships or storylines. I know stuff like this happens in television (e.g., ABC pressured OUAT to make Killian Jones/Captain Hook a main character, and thus Captain Swan was born), but I’m not aware of the CW pressuring the TVD writers to focus on certain storylines or characters. I just think the writers wanted to turn TVD into the Defan show after Nina left.
