You had tried to think positively but there was still a lingering darkness in your mind. If it wasn’t for your friends you’d be in a pit. You felt confused and lost, not knowing what the future would bring. It scared you. Was this the right decision or was it hurting you more, you didn’t know anymore…
“Hey you ok?” Rex would ask you. The sweet and caring tone carried through his voice. A solemn smile crossed your mouth, “yeah I’m fine.” This went on for a week and Rex was getting worried about you. Because you didn’t come to him he came to you instead.
There was a knock at the door. You panicked trying to keep yourself together. “It’s me…Rex,” there was an uncertainty to his words but he was here regardless. You walked over, opening the door slowly. “Hey Rex,” your eyes were a little puffy and your voice was nasally. “Uh can I come in?” You nodded, opening the door fully and shut it when he was inside your home.
“We have to talk…” Rex spoke as he shifted slightly uncomfortably. “Yeah what do you need?” You tried to play it cool but you subconsciously made yourself smaller, hunching your shoulders and fidgeting. “You seem down lately and I’m worried about you,” the words fell from his lips with an urgency you understood. “Thanks,” you held your tongue worried you'd cry if you continued.
“So what’s happening with you?” Rex stepped a little closer trying not to scare you. You couldn’t look at him. He stepped a little closer…
“Please let me help you, what’s wrong?” Rex spoke softly, probably the softest you’ve ever heard him talk. It surprised you and you let out a deep breath, “ok.” Rex smiled gently, all you could see were his armored feet. “I feel like I’ve made a mistake, but I also know it’s to better me.” Rex nodded as you spoke, you lifted your head a little now seeing his painted chest plate.
“I’m confused, I don’t know what to do Rex.” You finally met his eyes. His eyebrows softened seeing your near crying face. “Oh come here,” he took you into a bear hug. That’s when the tears fell, you silently sobbed into his armor. “It’ll be ok, you’re one of the strongest people I’ve ever met,” his hand patted your head as you continued to cry into him.
“Whatever’s making you feel this way, it will pass. Some things just take time.” You held him tightly and he reciprocated. You could feel the heat through his plastoid plates, being this close to him…it was something you’ve never experienced. You felt safe. “Feelings are complicated and it’s worse when you don’t really understand what you’re feeling. I’ll be here whenever you need me ok?” You nodded your head in confirmation. “Let me be your rock, while the current tries to pull you away. You don’t have to do this alone, we can do it together. Things will pass and it will start to make sense.”
Rex pulled you away from him, wiping your tears and he held your shoulders. “Doing the right thing isn’t easy. Especially if it’s for you. You are a lot tougher than you think and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.” You were still crying but he wiped every one of your tears. “Repeat after me, I am strong and I can make it through this.” You repeated after Rex and although you still felt the weight on your shoulders, you knew you weren’t carrying it alone anymore. “Thank you Rex,” you hugged him tightly again. He chuckled, “as long as you’re ok so am I.” A smile teased at your lips hearing him laugh.
“Heck I’ll get all the other guys here too. You know they love you to death right?” You released your grip on him. “Yeah I know…” Rex ruffled your hair, “and so do I.”
Rex stayed by your side until he knew you were ok. Whatever you wanted, he’d give it to you. He’d give you the whole galaxy, all you’d have to do is ask. He’d always be the first to your side and that would never change.

here with me
pairing: male x gn!reader (i tagged with a lot of different male characters i find comforting, but there’s no names used so you can imagine anyone you so please)
word count: 0.6k
warnings: reader is in pain (nothing descriptive), he comforts. just fluff
a/n: i wrote this as a result of my own migraines, but i kept all the symptoms vague because any chronic pain is a bitch, and you deserve to be treated softly by the person of your choice

The apartment usually wasn’t this quiet when he got home.
Or this dark.
He set his keys on the counter and left his boots by the door, then carefully stepped through the apartment. The kitchen and living room were both empty, and the office looked like it hadn’t been touched all day.
There was no light under the bedroom door. He set a cautious hand on the doorknob, but a quiet whimper had him opening the door without question.
You were laid out on the bed, on top of the covers, with an arm draped over your eyes. The ceiling fan and rotary fan on the ground were both spinning at top speed, and he could just see a dark bag poking out under your neck.
He quietly closed the door and returned to the kitchen, now a man on a mission. He grabbed a straw and a water bottle from the fridge, then took an ice pack from the freezer and wrapped it with a dish towel. He took the last item, a bottle of painkillers, from the cabinet and silently returned to the bedroom, the only sound of his presence being the faint click as the door closed one more time.
“Baby?”
“Yeah, it’s me.”
You let out another small whimper.
“How bad is it?”
“9.5.”
Unbearable, then, if you were using an actual pain scale.
He set his items on the nightstand and took a seat beside you on the bed.
“Meds?”
“At 3.”
Only a couple hours ago, too soon to take more. He put those beside the lamp.
He uncapped the water bottle and put the straw in, then he gently tucked a hand behind your head and lifted. “Drink.”
Your lips wrapped around the straw, and he didn’t pull the bottle away until you’d swallowed at least four times. But before you could lay back down, he replaced your old ice pack with a new one. You shivered a little, but the cold was a welcome reprieve.
“Stay or go?”
You could’ve cried. He’d stuck with you through this so many times he knew your comforts by heart. He read your moods instantly, and most of the time didn’t need promptings, but he always took the time to ask when it got bad like this. And he never shamed you for only being able to say a few words at a time.
“Stay.”
It nearly came out as a sob.
He shed his jacket and started unbuttoning his jeans. “Shirt or no shirt?”
“Soft.”
He took off his current shirt and replaced it with his sleep one, nothing decorating the black fabric, just ultra-soft cotton.
“Where do you want me?”
It differed every time. Sometimes you didn’t want him at all, the thought of another person with you sending jolts of pain through your body. Other times you wanted him to stay, but on the other side of the bed. Or you wanted him close, but barely touching.
“Top.”
Or sometimes you needed him to put all of his body weight on top of you like a human weighted blanket.
“Covers?”
“No.”
He positioned himself, knees on either sides of your thighs, then he slowly lowered himself until his hands on either side of your face were the only thing keeping him up.
“Okay?”
“Okay.”
He finished lowering himself and settled his full weight against you.
You sighed in relief.
“Better?”
You nodded and tucked yourself into the crook of his neck. “Better.”
“Three taps if I’m suffocating you.”
For the first time that day, you took a deep breath and relaxed.

From the stuck in a snowstorm Christmas prompt:
Can I get Rex X Male Reader where they get separated from Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan during a mission and are forced to hide in a cave till the storm ends please?
Male Reader is injured from saving Rex’s life from a droid attack and Rex is using all his willpower to not think about what would have happened if he lost him.
The angst buildup to confessing your feelings is the best type of word food.
Your wishes are my orders... Let's jump with the prompt number 9 (stuck in a snow storm) rn! 🫡
I write original ideas but I swear I like the classics and basics so much too... 🤪
Enjoy!
Xx, Blue. 💖
PS. For those who may be wanting to do a request, I'm leaving you the list of prompts at the end of this oneshot if you want to check it out. I also accept your own request ideas as long as it's xmasy.
"THE MOST IMPORTANT THING" – REX / MALE READER 💔💖
WARNINGS: fleeting mentions of wounds & blood. Thoughts about almost losing someone. Snow storm & freezing temperatures. Comfort & first kiss.
Tumblr media
Rex can barely see what's five steps ahead of him. Even with the improved vision provided by his helmet, the blizzard makes everything blurry; a white picture of snow that would have been beautiful if it hadn't turned into a storm –and Rex needn't to make his way across it in order to get to safety–. His objective is to find cover in the mountains; but even if they appear to be close in distance, it's not an easy task to acomplish. He has to fight each step of the way; his lower legs sinking on the snow as he walks and making it incredibly tiring to advance forwards. He can't stop, though. You can't.
You're injured; arm drapped over his shoulders and finding strength in the Force to not let yourself drop unconscious. It's tempting; but you refuse to succumb to blood loss and fatigue. You refuse to be a dead weight for the captain to carry. You know he's worried enough as it is.
All four Jedis assigned to this mission had worn some sort of armour for the 501st, 212th, and 464th's batallions relief; but armour isn't undestructible, and it doesn't completely cover one's body. There's always vulnerable spots required for movility; and a droid had managed to get you on one of those. By pure luck, the captain is sure. Tinnies can't aim with that sniper-like precision. It's why so many of them are needed to make one clone's work.
Even with three battalions meshed together, the army sent by the Separatists had been massive. The fight had prolonged for over a week; and at one point, Rex had been surrounded by ten droids at once. Trying to command his men at the same time, making his orders known over the sound of blasterfire and explosions, he hadn't noticed a droid attacking him from his dead angle of vision; and it was then when you had jumped in to save him. When Rex had twisted around in surprise and had seen the frizzed cloth in the gap between your chest and abdomen plates he had almost pannicked; but you had shot him a calming –and pained– smile and assured him it was just a superficial wound before dodging another attack and pushing forward. Rex had had to force himself to concentrate throughout the rest of the battle. To not think on the implications of your acts; of what could have been.
But here, with none of his men at his sides and no trace of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ashoka –they had all splitted into pairs in order to scout the city after the end of the battle when the snow storm had surprised them–, he has nothing to distract him from said thoughts.
You could have died. Jedi, for all of Anakin's recklesness, aren't inmortal; he could have lost you. Forever; a permanent absense and void in his heart no one would be able to cure. All those little things Rex always looks forward too —a cup of hot chocolate shared after a hard mission, the way your face lit up and innocently waved when you saw him across the hangar, all the little spontaneous trips you insisted for him to acompany you around Coruscant, if only using an excuse to show Rex what life could be outside of war... All of that would dissapear, disolve as if it had never existed; and Rex would be left staring into nothing.
They finally reach the mountains; and after a little while longer, they find a safe spot for them to take refuge in. They almost stumble inside –both of their legs aching and trembling from the cold and effort by now–; but being protected from the harsh and unforgiving wind is an instant relief.
Rex helps you to sit down; and you stretch your legs on the rocky floor of the cave and let him tug you backwards so that your shoulders are able to rest against one of the walls. You're shivering; the freezing temperatures managing to slip under your armour and specially on your vulnerable open spot. It's not all bad, though; you guess that the combination of the quick self-cauterizing blaster shot and the cold have managed to sort of keep the wound in stasis. Your vision is blurry and blackening when you try to move your head around, though; you feel dizzy and weak too. You don't know if it's because the wound, the post-battle fatigue, the cold, or all of them combined.
"General?" You hear Rex's voice ask, and it's only then when you notice his voice sounds too close and clear and realize he has taken off his bucket. "I think you're a step away from frostbite. You should take the armour off; it's so cold it's making you more damage than good at this point, now that we're hiding here".
You nod distractedly. That makes sense, yeah. You move your right hand to the shoulder attachments of your chest plate; but your movements are too slugish to pry the seals apart. The Captain's hands gently tug yours away and he tries to do it instead.
"Let me help you, okay?" He asks, always a bit wary to touch you and cross the line between General and trooper –it had taken a really long time for him not to jump at your ocasional affectionate pat on the shoulder or squeeze on his arms–. "Just try... Try to stay with me, General".
You hum in agreement and close your eyes; following his gentle commands a bit too slow for Rex's taste. He carefully pries each plate from your body and sets it aside; packing it up in the same way all clones do with theirs. You don't even react when your wound is exposed to the cold air; but Rex is quick to cover it with a bacta patch anyways. Then goes the plates of your back; and youre finally left in the soft and comfortable tunic and unders you always wear for the battlefield.
A new wave of exhaustion hits you; and your body slumps forward, only saved from smashing into the ground by Rex's quick hand on your shoulder.
"Hey. Hey, General. Cyare don't... Don't leave me".
You can hear the fear in his voice. The pain. The panic.
Even if it's an almost impossible task, you manage to blink your eyes open if only just for his sake.
"m' not going anywhere, Rex. I just need to sleep" you mumble grogily, trying to control the way your mind spins.
Rex opens his mouth, ready to ask you to stay with him, to not leave him here; but you continue and reassure him.
"This' one of those times you're gonna' have to believe in the Jedi magic. M'not dying. I just need to sleep and connect with the Force".
Rex reluctantly –scared– nods. He knows you had received a different training from Anakin, Ashoka and Obi-Wan; the Jedis he's used to work with. But all Jedis are not the same. While the previous three had grown more focused on how to use the Force to fight, you had cultivated other aspects; telepathy, healing. Kit Fisto had been your master; and though he had definitly teached you the art of the lightsaber, he had also encouraged you to explore your gift for telepathy –he was a powerfull telepath too– and even offered you to spend a few years learning Force Healing under the supervision of Jedi Stass Allie in the Temple. You had once explained to him you were nowhere close to be considered an expert on such themes; but that you could at least accelerate the curative progression of wounds a bit, if only enough to evade the risk of inminent death.
Rex doesn't need your skin to be completely closed and looking as if the shot had never happened; he had enough with avoiding your loss for now.
"Okay" he whispers back with a shuddering breath. "I'll let you sleep, then. Just let me... Let me hold you against me. You're still freezing and I don't want to risk it while we both rest".
"Kay" you mumble in response, closing your eyes again and dropping your head back against the wall. "But hurry up, my brain's fuzzy".
Rex nods and rushes to take his own armour off; staying in his blacks and taking a seat by your side, with his back against the wall. He then burries his thoughts about rules and impropiate gestures and pushes an arm under your knees; the other one around your torso, and then he uses a small burst of energy and tugs you towards him so that you're resting in his lap, between his crossed legs.
You make a little surprised sound; but inmediately melt against him when he pulls a heating emergency blanket from his backpack and places it around your body. You hum feeling gratefull and cuddle closer to his chest; hiding your face in his neck and tugging the blanket closer to try to cover him as well.
His hands give you a soft squeeze. Shortly after, you surrender to unconsciousness.
Tumblr media
Rex has a lot of time to think until you wake up again between his arms.
He takes the moment of respite to breathe in your warmth and soothe his stressed mind; his galoping heart. It was terrifying, almost losing you; but you're safe now. Your breathing has eased with time; your deep, pained frown slowly relaxing and an almost peacefull expresion making its way across your face.
It's still a huge relief for him when you groan and open your eyes; blinking slowly to try to make a picture of whats happening and where you are.
Rex only softens his hold on your body so that you can sit down straigther and turn around to face him. You stretch your neck and shoot him a tired but warm smile.
"Hey" the captain rasps. "How are you feeling?"
You glance down at your dressed wound and take a moment to analyse yourself. You're still tired, and your muscles ache, and you're in desperate need of some water and a shower; but here in Rex's lap, you can't help but feel content and safe.
"Better" you decide to answer, smiling softly. "You?"
Rex tries to give you a tiny smile; but it's such a pained, little unsure thing that it tugs at your heart.
"I'm fine" he answers, one of his hands carefully caressing up and down your back under the blanket.
You shove down a pleasant shiver and tilt your head to the side.
"I don't have to be a Jedi to know that's a lie" you tell him cautiously, your own hands travelling down to catch his with yours. "Tell me, if you want?"
Rex stares at you for a few seconds and sighs.
"You shouldn't have jumped in to save me" he starts, glancing down at your hands, unable to hold the weight of your beautiful eyes on his while he confesses this. "You're one in a million. A Jedi General. Hundreds of lifes depend on yours. Mine is replacable. I'm not important, and you..."
"You're the most important thing in mine".
It's soft and sweet; the way you finally tell him what you've been keeping to your heart all this time. What you've been struggling with.
"What?"
Rex has the most cute stunned and confused face you've seen before. His eyes lock onto yours inmediately; almost not believing your words, like needing to check you've really said that to him. That you mean it.
You smile wistfully and squeeze his hands. They're rough, callous formed on the spots where his skin frictions with his favorite pair of DC-blasters; the hands of a soldier that hasn't had the chance to be anything else. It's why you have been trying to show him the rest of the world, the little pleasure that can be found in the simplest everyday things. He deserves it. All his brothers do.
"I have never wanted more than I had" you begin, deciding to finally bare your heart once and for all to him. "All I've ever wanted to do is help others, and I've grown up with that purpose without having nothing else to fight for. Nothing that I wanted for myself. No secret that I had to keep trapped inside ny mind or heart. Yet..."
You reach up to trace reverent fingertips over the captain's cheek. You feel his stuttering breath against your skin; smile at the loving, hopefull way his golden eyes are silently watching you.
"I want to keep you, Rex. Every morning I find myself expectant and tense until I see you in the distance. Everytime we're close, everytime we talk, it fills me with a comforting warmth" your eyes track a sinfull path through his lips. So tempting, so close to yours. You can't help yourself and trace a thumb over them. Rex gasps, and his eyes flicker through your face, his heart filling with devotion and passion too. "I want to burn, though. I've been trying to hold back, but I can't. I want to get closer. I want to kiss you. I want to be able to relax between your arms when everything gets to be too much. You might think that in the grand scale of things you're not important. Perhaps, seing it that way, none of us are. What I can tell you is my personal truth, your spot in my individual scale; and there's no other person I deem as important as you".
You're desperate to kiss him; but you feel like he wants to say something too, so you try to be patient and wait for him.
Rex cups one side of your face in his hand. It trembles. You understand the feeling; and smile encouragingly. You have been worried about mistaking his kidness for something more too; of crossing boundaries. But he has nothing to fear now. Still, you understand. Your heart is speeding up in your chest too; as it does with everything exciting and new. Your feelings for him aren't; but this closeness, the real posibility of kissing him for the first time, is.
"I've loved you for a long time now" he admits, voice gentle and firm despite his own nervousness. "Perhaps for as long as I've been able to understand what romantic love is. I... I'll be happy to have you, cyare. When you need me and when you don't, too".
His words shoot warmth and joy to every cell of your body; a radiant smile perching on your tired face.
"Can I kiss you?" He asks, bringing your face close to his with a gentle tug of your chin.
You smile and sigh.
"Yes..." you whisper over his lips. "Yeah".
THE END.

𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒎 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒔
— All I Had Was You - Paul Moody, The Field Tapes, Kyle McEvoy [X]
Tumblr media
Shot awake, Rex's breaths break out of his chest in harsh and broken rhythm. Drowsiness bleeds away – in its place now, consciousness that's slunk in. And dread. His heart is pounding inside his chest and out his ears, drops of sweat breaking in and sliding down from his hairline as glimpses of nightmarish images glaze over his eyes once more.
No. He shakes his head. The darkness of his HQ barrack quarters, save for the low-power blue light on his work desk bathing the entire room, isn't helping. He always prefers to sleep in the dark, but after Umbara, the dimness of his room does nothing but stoke the anxiousness within him. The horror of being aware that so many of his men died…
The heels of his hands dig into his eyes, desperate for the glimpses to vanish. He grunts.
Let's give it a few minutes.
He closes his eyes and settles into breathing exercise, his shoulders heaving with controlled, rhythmic inhales and exhales.
Coruscant and its artificial sea. Not even natural. Even the rain’s made up.
It's during times like this, where his nightmares of past campaigns awaken him in the middle of the night, he yearns for Sho'cye. The ocean goddess who was ever present in their night rests when they were merely cadets back in Kamino, one of the planets where she's most powerful. The one who watched over their rest, and by extension, their dreams. She would grant them peaceful sleep, banishing their nightmares away along with the fear that follows.
Now away from her water dominion, he's never felt this much longing.
He lets out a big, sad sigh.
If only she'd be here.
Now that his once thundering heartbeat has settled to normal, he allows his eyes to open.
Only to see a long-haired figure sitting on the side of his bed.
An embarrassing noise escapes his lips as he jumps back in shock, only reviving the uncomfortably fast heart rate yet again. I didn't feel the bed dip, I swear I was hyper aware…
A chord of melodic giggles fill the small bubble, warmth and familiarity immediately welling up in his chest and his recognition of the voice is glorious.
“Sho'cye?!”
His eyes get used to the blue dimness of his room, and he can finally see her clearly. Luminous smile that always graces her lips either in wonder or welcome. Humble, as always, with her unbound and flowing midnight ocean hair and, and…
Is that… civvie shorts and oversized t-shirt? Like those natborns wear to bed?
Sho'cye grins up at him. “You look at me as if you've seen a ghost.”
Rex, of course, gets reminded by the small yet embarrassing yelp that came out of him and the fact that she watched on. His cheeks heat up, wishing he’s got his bucket on now. “Very funny.”
Always with her quirkiness. Never changed.
He understands. Sho'cye has always been alone in the wide galaxy and she needs company. So he’d been there by her sole power, meeting up in the tropical dream realm he dubbed the Coastline when he was still a cadet, and throughout his growth cycle until he said goodbye that day… because the war had started.
“But… that's also because you're not supposed to be here,” he states wonderingly, his voice coming out hoarse.
Coruscant has no natural body of water on its surface. Or rather, topside. There's nothing of sorts. Coruscant is out of touch by her power but… she's here. In his quarters, out of all places. When his sleep was disturbed by the nightmares, out of all people.
Sho'cye doesn't reply, instead getting to her feet and crossing the room in the direction of his water canteen sitting on his desk.
“Ah, I'll–”
“It's okay!” she chirps, making her way back now with his canteen in her grasp. She smiles. “Allow me, Rex.”
His heart wells at the gesture, still in disbelief that she's here right now!. It takes everything in him not to pull her into a hug again… the last one they shared – the first time as well – was before he departed from the Coastline for an unknown stretch of time. Because the war stretches on, too. It had been warm and left him smiling for days straight, the weight in his chest lighter with refueled confidence. Such is her power.
After taking a few gulps of his water, he places the canteen on his side table. He bites the inside of his lip hesitantly, the previous thought overtaking the space in his head. Sho'cye merely looks at him, patiently waiting for him to speak because she just knows, her eyes soft. Oh her eyes. I wish I could just… see those nice sea green colors. It's been a while.
He used to admire them. Getting lost in the spectrum. Still is. The blue in his markings is a beautiful color indeed, but they're no match to her colors. But at least, his blue is also the color of the ocean as a whole, the color that one could see from a faraway view, or maybe when they treat themselves to a view of Kamino from orbit.
Sho'cye stands there, towering over him when he's only been sitting in his cot. The distinction only makes him realize, so wordlessly, he grabs her wrist and tugs her in so she can retake her place at the side of his cot. Plopping down in acceptance, a light laugh escapes her lips – the small atmosphere momentarily filled with bliss of the reunion.
Rex's chest warms again at the joyous sound, but he's got more questions that need answering, and Sho'cye knows that.
“I sensed your distress when you were sleeping,” she starts. Oddly, she feels a little closer than before… Her expression, concerned. “You called for me.”
He'd forgotten about the nightmare at this point, too indulged in her surprise presence, but it's her presence itself, isn't it? “I just…” Well, she's right, I practically did. “Was just wishing you were here to ease my disturbed sleep,” he says, his hand coming up to the spot in the back of his neck that suddenly needs rubbing.
She smiles, blue illuminating the silhouettes of her face. “Well, I am here now.”
But her being here must’ve taken too much of her power. She said herself that her hold of her dominion ceases greatly on a planet with very little natural water. Coruscant is surely no exception. Manifesting a physical body the similar way she had been in the Coastline… while it makes him realize just how much divine power she has, it equally makes him feel bad. Coming here… just for me?
“You don't have to do that,” he finds himself saying. Even if it's technically what he truly wants (he'd love nothing but her company), her making the journey to the existence plane just for him must've taken a lot. It makes him, quite tremendously, feel bad. “S’just a nightmare. Going back to sleep will fix it.”
She raises her eyebrows challengingly, “So you don't want me here?”
“No!” Why was I even saying that? And I said it poorly! “I-I mean that you didn't have to go that far just to comfort a single clone with a nightmare.”
“But you've been harboring all these to yourself for the past week,” she insists, placing a hand atop his. She lets out a breath, eyes deeply boring into him. “I'm worried about you, Rex.”
He looks down at their hands, stacked and resting on his thin mass-produced blanket. Warmth emanates from the simple gesture, healing the longing that has been deeply settling inside him all this time. The relief and comfort bursts out of his chest like beams of light, making him sigh with the belief that it's safe now, both of us in our own little bubble.
In the darkness of his quarters, he tries not to picture the landscape of eternal midnight of that forsaken planet tinged with purple and vermillion red, eerie with fallen soldiers and death and tragic misfortune. He grounds himself, tries to cling onto Sho'cye's hold. He squeezes her hand in his, his other hand scrubbing down his face and across his buzzed blond hair.
“Our most recent campaign was in Umbara.” Rex swallows, staring dead on to their joined hands – every blink of his eyes is tempting him to just enjoy the darkness to mull and grief once again. “There was a new general. He was well-known in our ranks with the highest casualty count. He was nonchalant about the clones, Sho'cye, and he's a traitor. Had a Separatist agenda of his own and used us to turn against each other, I made us slaughter our own men…”
The hour they reconvened with the 212th was the worst. Even Fives had offered to take over to explain everything to General Kenobi because he just couldn't when Cody turned his way. His men killed Cody's men. Lieutenant Waxer died in their hands – a painful death full of betrayal. The single tear that came from the late brother's eye had him to not break down right there, his heart wrenching and all he'd wanted was to throw up.
Cody looked at him. He couldn't. Thankfully Fives had been quite to the point, as the most disturbed man out of them all, that while General Kenobi had been struggling to swallow everything that happened with the 501st, Cody pulled him aside. No words were traded, he sternly kept his gaze to the floor as his brother led him out of the vicinity, dragged him into a closed space – only right there and then, he dared to look up at Cody.
And finally, he broke down. His tears were angry, his throat hurt from snarling down his wails, his shoulders heaving and his plastoid chestplate squeaking against Cody's. Cody tried his best to muffle his little brother's cry – his distraught little brother whom he'd just want to hide from the world at that moment – and thought better of the situation, but it was the only moment Rex had broken down openly and so gut wrenchingly that it drove quieter sobs out of the marshal commander, too.
“If only I wasn't so blind following orders,” Rex's voice is quieter now, almost a whisper. He sniffs and swallows the lump in his throat. “I can't get it out of my head.”
He tilts his head to look at Sho'cye, almost regretting doing so when he spots a single tear in the midst of its path down her fair cheek reflecting in the low light. The way his heart clenches at the sight… his movement doesn't waver when he gingerly wipes it away with the pad of his thumb.
“I felt your troubled hearts,” her hushed voice says gently, “What you felt ran deep in the Force, Rex, that even I could feel it. Your trouble, your apprehension, and your fear. And Pong Krell’s true intentions bled painfully into the Force as well.”
She knew. Of course she knew.
“I just wish you were here with us. Could've saved so much trouble to prevent incidents like this from happening.”
A harsh sigh through the nostrils, his stomach churns bitterly. “The Jedi failed us in Umbara with their decision to switch my general with that snake,” he gripes, fists clenching momentarily only to remember Sho'cye's hand in his. He sighs again instead, this time laced with exhausted irritation. “And Skywalker went along. He knew, we all knew about Krell, but he just couldn't…”
“I am with you. Always,” she says, taking both his hands in hers, “And you have the Jedi Order in my place.”
“Disobey orders?” Sho'cye finishes for him, her head tilting as if saying but neither could you.
Rex shakes his head. “If only I could do just that to save my men from unnecessary deaths.”
The Commander had been the one who noticed his deteriorating performance. Unfocused during one of the discussions in the war room. Sluggish walk. Too many filler words in a whole conversation. So unlike him, and he's struggling to keep top performance. The Togrutan padawan has always been a perceptive one. It ended up her pitching to her Master, and the other day the General comm’d him to come and see the mind healers at the Temple. Knowing Wolffe's severe PTSD due to Abregado has mostly been treated by seeing those Jedi mind healers, Rex is seriously considering it, as well.
Sho'cye reaches up, brushing her finger against his cheek– oh, that's a tear. I've been crying.
“You merely thought about what was best for the campaign at the moment. You were thorough and you were confident you'd go through, and you did. That is the value of being a soldier, is it not?”
Her voice is tender as she speaks, careful as if any louder than low mutter would break him. She reaches up again, this time with both hands, and cups his face gently. A shuddered breath falls off his lips. The warmth of her palms against his skin resounds so much comfort that he needs, the remnants of his longing radiating out into the compassionate touch.
Rex leans into it, giving in, relishing in all the warmth there is against his cold cheeks. Before he can stop it, he’s already scooting closer, so she wouldn't have to reach him too far and so he would've felt more warmth radiating off herself. And yet, in all turns of events, she's meeting him halfway too with a little scoot of her own and their thighs end up brushing against each other.
Determination burns, stoking yearning fire inside his chest, so he reaches up as well, cupping either side of her head and gently tugs her in to lean his forehead against hers – a show of affection he'd known all his life and done only with his brothers.
He can't see the pretty sea green colors inside those orbs in the dark. Sho'cye is bathed in blue, the source of the light sitting low-power on one of his desks, creating a humble image, yet divine still, with the color of her ocean.
“Remember what I said?” she begins to whisper, their little bubble belonging to no one else but them in their closeness. “You're a good man, Rex. By heart, and by soul.” Her thumb caresses his cheekbone, showing her tender care and love. “Whatever you did… it's not your fault.”
There's a shuffle of movement. At the slightest shift that she makes, his body absently takes it as a cue and moves in – his head tilting to the side and burying his own face into her shoulder for just a moment to hide from the world, his arms wrapped and snug around her waist. The position is sideways and awkward at best, but it's when she shuffles again, quietly, slowly peeling his arms off just so that she can turn around, tucks her feet under her, and receiving him back into her arms. Rex pulls her in closer, arms returning to their rightful place around her waist as his person craves more of her warmth, her comforting words, and her familiar ichor scent as he breathes shudderingly into her collar bone.
Upon his quiet wavered exhale, Sho'cye's hand rubs up and down his back, the other is cradling the back of his head. Rex sighs contentedly, her fingers lazily running through his short hair, the comfort provided is simply unexplainable. All he can feel at that moment is that I'm safe now. She's here. I'm safe.
She wipes away tracks of dried sweat. Plucking at the back of his white t-shirt he wears to sleep to relieve his skin from the fabric that sticks so air can circulate back in. Her flowing hair, the color a shade of the ocean during midnight, forms a curtain around his head when she tilts her head down to place a kiss on the top of his head, his buzzed hair probably tickling her lips and chin but she doesn't care. And another, on the skin near his hairline – her compassion oozing with full force through the gesture. His hold on her tightens.
“When you die,” says Sho'cye quietly, her lips ghosting against his forehead, “Your essence will return to my waters. In this war, you take life, but when you die, you shall give life. You're in the sea, in the lake… in the rain. You'll have your place among the stars too, together resonating harmoniously in the Force, and the Force will sing and praise how tireless you warriors are. You fought for the peace of the galaxy, and you will relish and rejoice in the peaceful arms of death that you're finally at rest.”
Growing up acknowledging as an expendable soldier who would eventually die at war, the topic of a soldier's death is always unavoidable. But a warrior's death… after so many tireless fights. Fighting gives them life. The war. Something to live for. Something worth dying for. In the end, the peaceful rest must be a luxurious comfort. Being one with nature, with her, in the very waters that surrounds their home.
Sho'cye protects them in life. And even in death.
It brings so much comfort and safety to his heart.
Tumblr media
“I wish you were a Jedi general or something,” Rex says hesitantly. He reels away from her shoulder, looking at her in the eyes, almost trying to convince her. “We need you here and close. Could've saved so much trouble. Could've changed the entire war itself.”
“A great idea, but who would watch over all of you?” A smile breaks out in her countenance, and further in fondness as she recalls, “Back then, Rex; every day I thought about these… lives, so many lives born into the world. There hadn't been many in Kamino, so I knew I had to see for myself.” A massive shift in the balance of the Force, it had been. “Then I saw you, bred for a purpose, your minds left alone and in constant unease of what's to come. Your fate earned my utmost attention. And love.”
The amber in his eyes glimmer with life, even in the dark, as a breathy chuckle falls off his lips. He smiles almost sheepishly, “I keep forgetting you can see the future.”
“It's not exactly fun,” she indulges him happily, “I have to weave my own threads to gain what I want.” She caresses down the side of his face. “And what I want is a better future.”
The topic of such a future is for another day. If they ever meet again. Even she isn't certain to do this again – manifesting a physical body onto the existence plane and drawing so much from the Force. It isn't draining in any way, but it takes most of her focus to be here.
Rex's pleads inside his mind had been loud. Cries that called out upon betrayal. Cries that blamed himself. She'd been wanting to be with him, to comfort him, but gathering her strength to cross planes took time. And now that she's here, she's glad to be welcomed with open arms and an open heart. To be close to him… to be able to embrace him, dearest and most cherished companion.
The way her heart always falters at his mournful tears, the way she'd want nothing else but good for his fate.
Rex's hand comes off her waist to stifle a yawn.
Warmth emanates in her chest at the simple sight. It reminds her of everything that's him. She grins. “It's been a long time since I've seen you yawn.”
One of his dark brows rise – the one thing she'd find as his quirk, no matter how many times he'd explained that it's normal to have different colors for eyebrows from hair. While she adores his blond head that he'd always like to keep as short as possible, one time Rex grinded so hard with his intense training that he hadn't the time to buzz it off – it had been a little curly at the top. As what they would say; she'd pay good credits to catch sight of that again.
“What, you like my yawn?”
“I think it's adorable,” she nods pleasantly, before going to tap the spot between his brows, “The way your eyebrows pinch in the middle, I think.”
With one hand still resting against his cheek, Shocye can feel the skin under growing a little warmer. His eyes dart to the side before meekly meet hers again. “I'll yawn more often, then?”
She chuckles. “You wish so? I can take your consciousness out in mere seconds,” she teases back, half joking. “It's the things that make you human, Rex. It's what you are, after all. You're everything human.”
He smiles, eyes glimmering in the dark. “And you're everything not.”
Her fondness of him deepens. As it always has been, for years, since their first meeting that day and onward. It doesn't take long for her fondness to blossom into something more… something she dares not to venture. But she's a being of compassion, and compassion that's exaggerated incites desire. While it's not something unfavorable… a deity and a mortal is unheard of.
Perhaps with her own selfishness, Rex should be hers, and is already hers, yet obsessive love tips the scale of balance. Instead she lets her love run free, flowing with the course of nature and only reciprocating when there's a sign. Even if there is, another obstacle would be the nature itself – the Force, herself. There must be consequences for such things.
Rex begins to scoot away from her, settling to lie down again to catch up on lost time of rest.
But she won't leave him. Not again. At least not right away. The absence of natural water in Coruscant doubles her use of power – even the water in Rex's canteen is processed – but for Rex… for them, the clones… she needs to be here.
He watches her lifting his thin blanket, eyes blown wide, taken aback.  “W-what are you doing?”
Hesitance takes root inside her for even forgetting to ask. “Do you… mind?”
“I,” he weighs for a moment – a sad look and true confusion latching onto his bronze-toned face. “I don't know.”
Tumblr media
Her face falls, yet tinged with understanding. She starts to move away, the words I don't wish to make you uncomfortable probably tickling her tongue to be let out because he knows her like that and he knows her long.
And I never feel like so, Rex wants to say sometimes. When I'm with you.
“It's just!” he says a little loud, a little panicked when she’s just getting to her feet. She plops back down, eyes blinking curiously prompting him to continue. “It's just gonna be a little tight.” His shoulders shrug not only to defuse his awkwardness, but to cover the growing heat on his cheeks, too. “And um, this is a one person cot… y'know.”
Sho'cye tilts her head, a cheeky smile makes her eyes glitter. “I think we can make it work.” She lifts the blanket again and slips her dainty legs in, her warm skin brushing against his red fatigues. “Scoot over, Captain.”
Rex is already doing that. “I told you not to call me that,” he chides playfully, but as he does that he gets into one of those rare moments where he falls off balance and unaware of his surroundings; an ow escapes him as his head bangs against durasteel. He swiftly formulates a plan out of instinct. “I hit the wall. Sideways.”
The goddess obliges, shifting to roll onto her side – one hand slipping under the pillow and her head, elbow brushing against his. A few unsuspecting seconds later, he rolls onto his back and fits snugly into the wider space.
He smirks smugly at the ceiling. “Thank you.”
Her melodic laughter fills his ears, a hand swatting at his shoulder and remains there. He can feel her fingers slightly gripping on his shirt. A glance to the side; the blue light illuminates her hair and he finally can see the blue of her tresses, and there's a wide gleeful smile gracing her fair face. “Since when did you even get so sly?”
A grin finally breaks out in his lips. “I’m a captain. I need to,” he says, reminiscing the times during shore leaves spent with, mainly, a handful of Torrent. “But probably since hanging with the boys a lot.”
Fives and Hardcase dart past his mind.
Sho'cye hums. “Do tell me more about them one day.”
“Of course.” But could she just find out herself– nevermind she's playing human right now.
Comfortable silence envelops over them like a second fuzzy blanket. Rex wonders if it's because of her mere presence, or an extra smidge of her power. Either way, he's fulfilled, the heavier weight on his heart has been lifted. With her quite literally next to him, an unspoken promise of a good night's sleep greets him with a smile and open arms.
He turns again under the blanket, this time lying on his belly so he can turn his head sideways to face her, arms pinned down to his sides. Sharing one pillow to lay their heads, he's aware their faces are inches away from each other's. Even breathing through her nostrils, air grazes his nose and cheeks softly. He wishes they could've done a sleepover like this back in his cadet days. Probably under a tree with that red rug and throw pillows, with a bonfire of her conjuration, the Coastline skies dark with stars glittering in the blank ethereal canvas.
Her eyes bore into his, blinking.
But those days have passed. Sho'cye being physically here – this could be one and only time happening.
How he wishes post-campaign exhaustion can stretch for a bit longer.
“I wish there'd been a body of water in our Umbara campaign,” Rex mumbles lowly, lips brushing against the pillow beneath him. His gaze meets Sho'cye's in mourning, the glassy look in her eyes reflecting the feeling likewise. Wish you were there. “Could've saved us so much.”
“Me too,” she whispers, nuzzling against the pillow like he does. She casts her gaze down, as if regretfully. Rex takes her hand and squeezes it. When she looks at him, once again he wishes he can look at sea green pools instead – how he misses them, and their dreamy landscape, the Coastline. Squeezing back, Sho'cye quietly admits, “Being unable to closely watch all over you unsettles me.”
Rex hums in acknowledgement and understanding. The burden must be heavy to look after and care for them, and equally is for not being able to. As after all these years, even her admissions and smallest gestures touch his heart. A deity choosing us clones, protecting us, over any other.
Stepping over the boundary of their intimacy, Rex tries not to meet her gaze, his movement half sheepish and half daring as he drapes an arm over her waist to pull her closer to his body. Without a breath of complaint, the goddess indulges him, even twisting her body so she lies on her back and snakes an arm under his neck.
“Sorry,” he breathes into her shirt, settling his cheek against her shoulder comfortably and his body against hers. Even clothed with a civvie t-shirt (the notion remains funny and adorable to him), unlike the last time they embraced she had adorned a sundress, she feels warm against him, and always does.
“Don't be,” she murmurs above him, “I like this, too.”
His cheeks and the warmth in his chest burn brighter, the fond statement only making him bury his face further into her neck.
A hand comes up to caress his short buzz, back and forth… his eyelids grow heavier and heavier… the repetitive movement lulling him to surrender to sleep at last.
Rex uses the last couple of ounces to stay awake and make sure, “You still gonna be here when I wake up?”
“No.” She nuzzles her nose into his hairline, still sounding very much awake – protective, oozing with care, making sure he’s asleep first before she follows. “As much as I'd love to.”
He hums.
His breathing steadies. There's a warm hand – hers – on his arm, adding another gesture of protectiveness to everything; half her body under his, snug and fit in his cot, his arm around her and is clinging onto her t-shirt, and her other hand stroking his hair.
He wishes it could be just like this, instead of… everything happening out there in whatever part of the galaxy.
His consciousness is slipping away.
And before he succumbs to the sweetness of slumber, he hears Sho'cye whispers to his hair,
“Sleep well, my sweet sea blossom.” Warm soft lips, tenderly, upon his forehead. “The nightmares are no more.”

hello there. could i request the bois and tbb for their reaction that they would have when they see their s/o wearing a dress, as their s/o normally wears pants and shirts.
Fox, Fives, and Tup eat it up. They start with an endless string of Wow-s, then they'll remember other words exist and insist their S/O spin around or pose for them so they can admire all the angles. They may even insist on some photos, or maybe grab whoever's around so they can show off their partner's look. Otherwise it's praises galore. Regardless how comfortable or not their S/O initially feels in the dress, they're definitely getting a confidence boost.
Jesse, Kix, and Wrecker instantly turn mischevious. They're whistling, they're teasing, they're even getting handsy. It's just too big of a change to pass up an opportunity to have some fun with it. If their S/O's not fully comfortable in the get-up, they'll help make them laugh and loosen up a little. It's just clothes, and at the end of the day they're still the beautiful person they fell for no matter what they wear. But this outfit sure is fun.
Hardcase, Dogma, and Tech honestly won't notice. To say they're oblivious to things like fashion is an understatement. Their S/O will try to casually draw their attention toward it, swaying around or saying things like If only I had pockets to put this thing in... Still nothing. They'll have to stand right in their line of sight and specifically say Hey look! I'm wearing a dress! Then these guys will have a little moment of dazed blinking before giving a shy smile and a nice compliment.
Rex, Hunter, and Crosshair will stop dead in their tracks, mouth agape, speechless at the sight before them. Bonus points if their S/O is really feeling themselves, rather than being awkward or embarrassed. The confidence they exude is more mesmerizing than the dress itself. They never really snap out of it either. They may put on a face, act cool and collected, but inside they're still freaking out. They simply cannot look away. And when the dress comes off and it's back to pants, they'll low-key pout about it.
Cody, Wolffe, and Echo have a less obvious, but no less appreciative reaction. Their face will light up with a smile, their eyes will grow soft as they take them in. If their S/O is walking awkwardly they'll rush up to offer their arm and help put them at ease. Or if their S/O is really enjoying the change of attire, they'll help them find ways to wear dresses more often. They will always be supportive - and enamored - of their S/O's choices in appearance.

We are meant to be expendable | Captain Rex x jedi!reader
Summary: you get hurt during a mission while saving Rex and some of his brothers.
Warnings: angst, bomb going of, mentions of injury, shitty ending lol
Tumblr media
"What the kriff were you thinking? You could have gotten yourself killed out there!"
Rex was mad, really mad. You did not have to concentrate on the lingering feeling of the force to know that.
"Please Rex, could you lower your voice a little? My head is killing me..."
"It would not hurt that much if you didnt throw yourself infront of a BOMB!"
-
During the mission to free a planet from seperatist forces, you and a few men from the 501st got cornered and caught in the middle of a crossfire. While the troopers tried to shoot as many, as they called them, clankers as possible and you deflecting blaster shots as fast and precise as you could, you noticed one of the droids holding something. It was definitely NOT a blaster, but from the distance, you were not sure what it could be.
As you looked again, that particular droid was gone.
It must have been your mind playing games on you. After all, this situation you were in was quite stressful and chaotic.
The fight continued for a few more minutes, blaster shots were exchanged and your concentration slowly but surely left you alone. Suddenly, you felt something hit the ground right next to Rex, Fives and Echo.
From that moment on, everything happened in slow motion.
You looked over to them, then at the round thing laying on the ground next to them. It was a bomb.
While still deflecting some shots, you ran as fast as you could to reach them in time. You tried to warn them about the danger, but your shouts were swallowed by the thundering sounds of the ongoing battle. As your last solution, you force pushed them out of the way and tried to get infront of them to keep them safe from the coming explosion.
This action earned you confusing looks from the ARC troopers and your captain, but there was no time for you to notice. The moment you stepped infront of your men, the bomb went of. In a matter of mere seconds, the explosion hit everything and everyone around you. The troopers were send flying through the air and you were flying with them.
The moment you could sense the ground underneath you, your head hit something hard. Then, everything went black
-
The only thing you could hear was a loud and already annoying ringing sound right in your ears.
You were still feeling too weak to open your eyes but still tried to find some orientation without them. Obviously you couldnt.
The ringing in your ears plus the thundering beating of your heart hindered you from hearing anything around you. After a few seconds, you gave up and tried to concentrate on your body and on how it was feeling.
Your hand.
Your right hand to be more specific.
It felt heavier then your left one.
You concentrated a bit more on that heavy feeling on your hand until you could make out the fact, why it was heavier.
Someone was holding it.
Pretty tightly that is.
With the last bit of strength left in your body, you forced yourself to open your eyes.
You were met with a bright and blinding light that made you close your eyes immediately again.
You waited a little until you tried again, this time, way slower.
You let out an unvoluntarily groan as your eyes started hurting from the light. But, you were able to keep them open.
The moment that groan left your mouth, you could feel the grip on your hand tighten and someone stirring right next to you.
As you tried to make your eyes familiar with the light and your surroundings, you could hear a faint voice.
"General? General are you alright? Medic! We need a medic! Shes awake!"
Rex. Rex was with you. You would recognise that voice anytime, even with an irritating ringing in your ears.
You moved your head in his direction and tried to sit up in your bed, but a crushing pain in your head made you lie down again.
"Woah, slow there, General."
Your eyes found Rex's face. The look of concern painted over his features. His eyes were blown wide, his eyebrows furrowed a little. But hidden underneath was a sliver of relief, or maybe a big sliver.
"Wha...what happened?", you managed to croax out.
"You...you jumped infront of a bomb. You saved us, General."
Before you could answer, Kix came rushing down the aisle of the medbay with a Med-droid following close behind.
They checked your vitals, your eyes and ears, then asked you some questions you barely remember.
Everything happened under the watchfull eyes of your Captain, which in the meantime let go of your hand. If he didnt, his brother would be nagging him about it for a long time.
After Kix was finished, he gave you some quick infos about what would happen next.
You were on bed rest for at least 2 weeks, you insisted that you wouldn't need them, but right in that moment, your head betrayed you and started hurting a little more. You let out yet another groan, then Kix left, giving you a 'I told you so' look.
Once you were alone, you moved your head in the direction of Rex, who was already looking at you with a look you could not quite figure out. A shaky breath left his lips as he opened them to say something.
"What were you thinking...?"
"What?"
It was a whisper which you couldnt understand due to the still present ringing in your ears.
"What the KRIFF were you thinking!"
You flinched a little. You have never, NEVER, seen him so angry.
"You could have gotten yourself killed!"
""Please Rex, could you lower your voice a little? My head is killing me..."
"It would not hurt that much if you didnt throw yourself infront of a BOMB!"
You wanted to answer, to get back at him with a snaky remark, but you couldnt. He left you literally speechless. Was he angry because you safed him and his brothers from their definite death?
"Wha...what was i supposed to do? Let you get blown up?"
"YES! Kriff...you are not supposed to put your life on the line for someone like us...for someone like me..."
The last part was barely above a whisper. He turned his head away so he wouldnt have to look at you.
This took you aback. What was he talking about? Was he serious?
"What do you mean with 'people like me'?"
You gave him some time to answer, but as he still hasnt looked at you nor said a word, you lifted your arm slowly to caress his cheek.
At first he stiffened at the unfamiliar feeling of your hand on his cheek, but after mere seconds, he leaned his head against you touch, fully submerging in the warmth of it.
"Rex, talk to me. What did you mean?"
He inhaled sharply as he turned his head around to look at you again.
"What i meant is...we are clones, sir. We were bread for this exact purpose, to serve in battle. We were also bread to die, as harsh as it sounds. One of us dies, a few thousand are coming to take his place. You on the other had...your life is way more worthy as mine will ever be. As i said, we are clones...we are meant to be expendable."
Once again, the captain has left you speechless. Thats what he was thinking about himself? About his brothers?
No.
No one thinks about themselves that way. It was drilled into their minds. Not only by the Kaminoans, but also by your fellow jedi and politicians.
You were so lost in your thoughts that you didnt even notice, that Rex was about to leave. A small panic rose inside of you. You couldnt let him go after what he just said to you.
"Rex! Wait! What are you doing?...please stay..."
You mustered some strengh to sit up and still reach his arm in time. The pain that shot through your body was screaming at you to lay back down, but as you met the captains teary eyes, it was forgotten.
You pulled him back to sit down in the chair next to you again. But as he was sat, you still did not let go of his arm. Instead, you moved your hand towards his and held it.
"I...I dont know how you must be feeling about...about the thing you just told me. I cant imagine it, but to me, your life is just as valuable as any other. I dont care if you are a clone or a jedi or...or even a droid. You have feelings, you have a personality. Your life is important. Your...your life is everything to me..."
As Rex heard the last sentence, his eyes snapped towards yours. It seemed like he didn't believe you at first, but the longer he looked into your eyes, he noticed the truth and honesty behind your words.
"You dont have to say anything but...I feel like its time to speak my mind. I woud do it again. One hundred percent. I would jump infront of a hundred bombs, just to know you are safe and ALIVE. That doesn'tjust apply to you, but also your brothers. But...especially to you..."
You smiled slightly as you said the last words.
By the looks of it, the captain infront of you was dumbfounded. It took him a minute to process your words, but as he let them go through is head, he realised what you meant. At least he hoped so.
He searched your face for anything that told him otherwise, though he couldnt find it. Your eyes screamed sincerity, there was nothing that could deny that.
With your hand still in his, he leaned forward. He was just inches from your face, you could feel his breath on your lips.
"Just so you know...I would do the same for you, General."
He looked at your lips, then back into your eyes as if he was asking for consent. You nodded slightly and with that, his lips connected with yours.

If you have an f/o that loses many people close to them, imagine them allowing themselves to grieve in front of you. To be held in your arms as their shoulders shake with the force or their crying because they need to let it out or it'll consume them from the inside out. Hey can yall help me find a fic? Pretty please? It's one of my favorite and I swear I bookmarked it but I can't find it now.
Its a post order 66 stars wars fic. I think there's two in the series? But the premise is that padme gives birth on the way to mustfar so she and obi ean go on the run and meet up with Rex and ahsoka. Everybody is having a bad time in their grief and lashing out at obi wan who slowly stops talking. Eventually obi wan goes off on a solo mission and ends up rescuing Cody and a few other clones. They continued to go off on missions together and continue to save more clones. Eventually everybody starts to heal and make up.

Summary - A small group of Torrent Company, including Fives, Echo, Hardcase, Rex, and Anakin, are sent down to the icy planet, Hoth, to distribute supplies for the new research facility there. Their stay is extended as they are informed that a scouting patrol went missing, likely from the cold and lack of supplies. The group splits up to scout out the area surrounding the base. The Domino Twins survey the mountain range alone, and of course, run into trouble as an avalanche is triggered. Echo is badly injured in the aftermath, and Fives is turned around with no idea of which way the base is. They must try to survive the icy plains until they are rescued.

Notes: This is for the 2024 Star Wars Prequels Big Bang! @swprequels-big-bang I worked with @thingskorokhasdrawn for the art and @battlekilt as my beta! tysm to both of you, I had sm fun working on this <3 anyways, I promised a while ago on my Tumblr that I'd make some Echo and Fives centric whump, so here it is! please enjoy <3
Echo loaded another crate onto the shuttle. He dropped it with a huff, then went back into the hangar to grab another. A few paces away, Fives chatted with Hardcase.
“Hey, you two mind helping at all?” Echo asked snarkily, though it held no malice. The two other clones turned to him, Fives sticking out his tongue at his twin. Echo mimicked the action.
“Only because you asked so nicely,” Hardcase quipped as he leaned down to grab a crate of supplies.
Fives, being outvoted, did the same. With their combined efforts, they finished the task fairly quickly, just in time for when Rex and the General arrived.
“Alright, boys,” General Skywalker started. “This is a quick in-and-out. We drop off supplies to help get the set-up of a new facility, then we get back to where it’s warm,” he explained. Echo was grateful to know that the group wouldn’t have to spend a night on the ice-flats of Hoth.
“Let’s load up,” Rex ordered, causing the group to board the shuttle and the pilot to get in the cockpit.
“Thank the force we won’t have to be there long,” Echo murmured to his ori’vod .
“I’m sure something will go wrong,” Fives said with a grin as he punched Echo playfully.
“Have a little optimism, vod ,” Echo continued their banter, wrapping an arm around his vod’s shoulder.
The group dissolved into silence, save for the occasional remark from Hardcase, as the ship descended into the atmosphere of the ice planet. They all could hear the harsh wind whipping against the ship’s hull. Echo shuddered at the thought of having to feel the blunt force of that wind.
Tumblr media
Soon enough, the shuttle touched down and opened its doors to the harsh cold. Echo frowned as snow flew into the ship. He shook his head and followed the rest of the squad. The ARC trooper rubbed his hands together before grabbing one of the crates.
“Are we sure this is the best place to have a facility?” Fives yelled over the wind.
Echo shrugged in response before Rex answered, “There already is a facility.” The Captain started, “It was a Separatist base, but a squad took out the clankers, and now some scientists in the Republic want to use it.” He explained.
“If this is just a supply drop-off,” Echo said as he carefully put down the crate he had been holding. “Why is the General here?” He asked.
The aforementioned General had gone off to speak with one of the scientists that had taken residence at the base.
“To get a chance to spend some time with his lover,” Fives muttered to him with a nudge. Echo chuckled as he glanced at the Captain, wondering if he may have heard Fives’ remark.
“Or to get away from his other one.” Hardcase joined in with a loud guffaw.
“I can’t take you boys anywhere,” Rex mumbled with a shake of his head, though there was humor evident in his tone.
The troublemakers laughed as they continued to work for several more minutes. Not too long later, they had unloaded all the supplies and were resting.
Echo shivered as a particularly cold gust of wind assaulted him. Flakes of snow had stuck to his armor and melted, leaving small stains on the durasteel.
“When do you think the General will be done?” Fives asked, leaning back against a crate.
“Dunno,” Echo answered with a shrug. “But I doubt there’s much a scientist would need to tell a Jedi,” he guessed. Fives mumbled something about being cold and this taking too long. Echo patted his vod’s shoulder.
“Change of plans!” Echo jumped at the General’s voice. He stood at attention, waiting for whatever miserable news Skywalker had to share. “We’re gonna have to scout out the area around the facility,” he explained. The entire squad’s mood seemed to sink at that; the cold was bad enough already, and there were heaters all around the base. It’d be ten times worse out there.
“What happened?” Rex asked.
“Some troops already stationed here had sent out a scouting party, but they never returned,” he answered with a shake of his head. “It might have just been the cold, or it might have been hostiles. They don’t have enough people to send another scout party, so they left that up to us,” he finished with a frown.
Fives and Echo exchanged a glance.
“Well,” Rex said with a sigh, “Let’s get moving.”
Fives dismounted the tauntaun he had been given and walked over to the edge of the snowy cliff. Over the snowy plains, he searched for some kind of threat; there was nothing; the planet was desolate and empty. “See anything?” Echo called, still mounted. Fives didn’t blame him; the tauntauns gave them a little bit of warmth.
“Just more snow,” Fives replied miserably. He mounted back onto his tauntaun and continued up the mountain. Echo followed.
The squad had split up: Rex with Hardcase and General Skywalker, and Fives with Echo. Echo and Fives were tasked with searching the mountain, then the plains surrounding it. The other group would venture in the opposite direction and search the snow plains there.
Fives rubbed his hands together as he urged his tauntaun to move a bit faster. The sooner they got this done, the better.
“What do you say we take a rest up there?” Echo yelled over the wind, pointing to a ledge not too far from them. Fives gave him a thumbs up, then rode his tauntaun over to said ledge before dismounting.
Echo did the same, then grabbed a metal spike from the satchel on his tauntaun. He plunged it into the ground, then tied the reins around it. Fives got his own and did similarly to his vod .
Fives grabbed a ration bar from his pack and sat down in the snow with it. He took off his helmet and started eating the flavorless meal. Echo sat down next to him, a bit closer to the ledge.
“This sucks,” Fives mumbled between bites. Echo grunted in agreement before looking out over the plains below.
“It’s kind of pretty though, if you ignore the cold.” He said optimistically. Fives rolled his eyes in response.
“Only you could call an empty snow plain pretty.” He muttered snarkily. Echo mimicked him in a high-pitched voice, causing the twins to laugh.
Suddenly, the tauntauns seemed to get anxious. They both started struggling from the spikes, trying to jump away. Fives got up to try to calm his.
“Whoah,” He said soothingly, “Easy girl.” He rubbed the tauntaun’s neck fur, though it did little to calm it. He was about to turn to ask his vod what he thought might be wrong. It seemed like some of the obscure information that he might know, but then he heard a deep rumbling in the ground, followed by the cracking of ice.
“Echo,” He started before the sound got louder. His brother stumbled on the ledge, eyes growing wide as large cracks formed in the ice. Fives jumped towards his brother just as the ledge crumbled, causing both clones to fall down the cliffside.
Fives awoke with a painful cough, followed by a groan of pain. There was pressure on him, like he was buried in something. He kicked out on the small layer of snow that covered half his body, then dragged himself a few feet away.
He curled in on himself, shivering violently. Snow had gotten in his armor, making the insulation useless in keeping him warm. He had no idea where his bucket was, so there was no way to keep his face warm either.
“Echo,” He mumbled, half aware of why he felt the urge to call out for his brother. Then, he seemed to wake up a bit more, and he jolted upright. He didn’t have many injuries, but he felt sore, and the abrupt action sent a jolt of pain through his body.
“Echo!” he yelled, trying to crawl back to the pile of snow he had emerged from. He started clawing at the snow, moving large junks out of the way. “Echo, where are you!” He yelled desperately.
Tumblr media
Fives scanned the area around him, hoping to see a hint of durasteel glinting in the snow. He caught a glimpse of something dark a little ways away, and he quickly stumbled towards it.
There was a red stain in the snow, and right next to it, he saw a bit of durasteel armor that hadn’t been covered by the blizzard. “Echo,” he called, digging into the snow until he could feel his brother and drag him out.
He pulled him out by the armpits. His brother was limp in his arms. Echo’s head lulled to the side, eyes closed. Fives feared the worst as he dragged his brother away from the aftermath of the avalanche.
He laid Echo down in the snow. Fives tried to wipe some of the blood off of Echo’s face, but he had a head injury. He shakily felt for his vod’s pulse. It felt weak, but it was there.
Fives shook his vod’ika to try to rouse him awake. He wouldn’t move. He placed pressure on the head injury, trying his best to stop the bleeding.
“ Eyayah , wake up,” He begged, moving to try chest compressions. He didn’t know if that would help, and after a few minutes of it not doing anything, he went back to trying to shake him awake. He fumbled to try and find a stim in his pack, but most of its contents had fallen out during the avalanche.
“ Eyayah… ” Fives’ voice shook as he leaned down and rested his head on his vod’ika’s chest. He felt the rise and fall of his cuirass, which at least meant he was breathing.
Fives sat back up, solidifying his resolve as he decided that if he couldn’t resuscitate his vod , then he would get him back to the base. He whistled for his tauntaun, but got nothing in return. He hadn’t really been expecting anything either.
He looked around through the blizzard. Fives didn’t know which way was to the base, he didn’t even know which side of the mountain they had fallen off of. Finally remembering that he had it, he tried his com-link.
He was only answered by static; the blizzard wouldn’t let the signal through. He tried Echo’s as well but got the same result.
“Kriff,” He muttered, then to Echo, “I’ll get us out of this, vod’ika . Ni oritsir. ” Fives vowed.
He carefully stood, the wind trying to force him back into the snow. He leaned back down and put a hand under Echo’s back, making him sit up. Fives grabbed Echo’s middle and hoisted him onto his shoulder, stumbling slightly from the added weight. He tried not to think about Echo being completely limp in his hold.
Making a guess from the little amount of sunlight he could see through the blizzard, Fives picked a direction, then started trekking through the snow.
It didn’t take long for him to not be able to feel his fingers anymore. He was stumbling through the snow, almost falling several times. The wind did little to help, making it impossible to walk in a straight line.
“I-I’m sure we’re almost there, Eyayah .” He said to his unconscious brother. He had tried talking to him at different intervals, hoping that something would wake him up, or at least comfort him. He was starting to think that he was doing it more for himself than for Echo. It had started to feel like a lifeline.
Fives’ legs buckled from underneath him. He fell face first into the snow, dropping his vod. He just barely heard the sharp intake of a breath as Echo hit the ground. Fives sprung up at the noise.
“Echo?” He asked, trying to shake his brother awake again. The ARC trooper’s face was scrunched up in pain, and he let out a tight groan. “Oh, thank the Force!” Fives said with relief. He knew that a groan of pain wasn’t too reassuring, but it was another confirmation that Echo was alive.
“...Fives?” Echo mumbled with a hoarse voice. Fives laughed hysterically in relief. He was cut short when he noticed the red on Echo’s teeth. He frowned as he remembered their situation.
“I’m right here, Eyayah ,” he said, gently grabbing his brother’s face. He rubbed his thumbs over Echo’s cheeks. His vod leaned into the touch.
“Wha… happened?” He forced out. He was slurring his words, and his eyes were unfocused; it looked like Echo wasn’t even seeing fives.
“Th-there was an avalanche,” He explained, getting up to try and carry Echo again. “I’m trying to get us back to base.” He made the same movements as before to hoist him over his shoulder, but this time, Echo let out a pained sound.
Fives immediately rested his brother back into the snow. He quickly looked over his pained expression, holding his hands up, not sure of what to do.
“What’s wrong, vod ?” He said quickly. Fives ghosted his hands over Echo’s chest after too long without an answer. Echo took in a sharp inhale as Fives touched his side.
“Sith spit.” He muttered. He put pressure on Echo’s side, stopping immediately as Echo let out a pained sound. Echo tried to push him away, his arms flailing weakly.
Fives cooed at him softly, trying to calm his half-conscious brother. “It’s alright, Eyayah , we’re gonna get you back to base.” He promised.
The ARC likely had a broken rib. Fives cursed their luck. How did he end up unscathed while Echo was littered with injuries?
He gently grabbed his brother’s hand and squeezed it. Echo’s eyes were shut tightly in a grimace.
Fives looked around, his vision blocked by the snowy winds. He could just barely make out the outline of a ridge. Fives turned back to Echo.
“This is gon-gonna hurt a lot.” He warned as he grabbed his brother’s arms. He started dragging Echo behind him, leaving a scar in the snow as they went.
His legs gave out again when he made it to the ridge. He fell against it, leaning his head back for a moment. He shivered and hugged his stomach as he curled up.
After he had recovered enough to move again, he pulled Echo close to him. Fives wrapped his arms around his vod , providing as much warmth as he could.
He tucked Echo’s head under his chin, pressing down on his dark curls. He watched as Echo’s breath came out in white puffs. He was still breathing. He was still alive.
“W-we’ll be okay-okay, Eyayah .” He mumbled weakly as he closed his eyes. The two of them were shivering wildly, their bodies trying to warm them up.
He hugged Echo tighter, as tight as his strength allowed. Echo’s head lolled onto Fives’ chest.
“We’ll be okay.”
Fives stumbled again, almost falling. He carried Echo piggy-back style, his arms under his legs to support him. Echo’s head rested on his shoulder.
Tumblr media
The sun had broken through the tormenting storm. Fives had found the strength to climb up the ridge they took shelter against and tried to scout out where the base was.
It was far, but he could see it in the distance. Fives cursed himself as he realized he had been going the complete opposite way. He had started the long trek as soon as he felt strong enough to carry his vod’ika .
The cold seeped into his bones, making him shaky and weak. He couldn’t feel his hands when he didn’t move them, and when he did, it was extremely painful. Pins and needles assaulted him with every step he took. His legs were beginning to cramp.
Fives fell again into the snow. Flakes of it shook off of his hair and joined the white desert. Echo was on top of him, and Fives didn’t feel like he had the strength to push him off and get up.
He tried, placing his hands under him and pushing against the ground. He fell back down, his face becoming buried in the snow. He heard Echo’s faint breathing next to his ear.
Fives suppressed a sob. Everything either hurt or he couldn’t feel it. He was impossibly cold. Snow covered his armor and face, freezing on his skin.
Fives reached back and grabbed Echo’s hand. He squeezed it tightly. Fives let his face fall into the snow. He let out a shaky breath. He closed his eyes; he didn’t have the strength to keep going.
“M’sorry,” he said, barely audible even to him.
Rex kicked at his tauntaun, urging it to go faster. His heart was beating a mile a minute. His breathing was shallow and quick.
When they had returned from their own patrol, Fives and Echo hadn’t checked in. He had hoped that maybe they just weren’t at a good place or that their signal was interrupted by the storm.
Then it got dark as the combination of night and the storm blocked out the light of the stars. Rex had worried a bit more, but he trusted his ARCs.
Then, one of their tauntauns came back. Alone. One tauntaun and no rider returning from a patrol of two. Anakin had to physically hold him back from going out into the blizzard to find his ARCs.
He didn’t sleep last night, worry and fear making him too nauseous to keep his eyes closed. He left as soon as the blizzard stopped a bit before sunrise. He guessed the General would be pissed, but there were bigger things to worry about at the moment.
His tauntaun made a noise of protest as he once again urged it to go faster. He thought he saw something out in the distance. He wouldn’t risk being too late because his tauntaun was complaining.
“Fives! Echo!” He tried. His voice was hoarse from yelling out into the snowy planes. He clicked the tauntaun’s side again, whipping the reins.
Rex saw it again. A glint of something blue in the snow. He jumped off his tauntaun, not bothering to bring the creature to a full stop. He stumbled through the snow before regaining his balance, then ran towards that bit of blue he saw.
Tumblr media
He fell to his knees as he slid to a stop. He clawed through the snow until he revealed Echo’s face, blood drying on his forehead. He pulled the obviously injured ARC out, then continued to dig for his brother.
Both of them were unconscious. Fives didn’t seem injured, but the cold had exhausted him.
“General!” Rex yelled into his comm, “I found them- I need a medic!” He said frantically. He searched for both of their pulses, Echo’s first. There was a light thumping under his fingers, far too slow.
“ We’ll bring a transport, ” Skywalker said through the comms. Rex didn’t bother answering, too busy making sure his ad’ike were still alive. He moved over to Fives. The ARC looked fairly uninjured, but with the cold, that wouldn't really matter.
Fives mumbled something that Rex couldn’t hear. He turned his attention to him as he cupped his cheek. His eyes were half-lidded, looking vacant.
“Fives-“ Rex’s voice broke, “Fives can you hear me?” He tried. Fives groaned. His eyes fluttered shut as he leaned his head into Rex’s hand.
“ Buir… ” he mumbled weakly, barely above a whisper.
“I’m here, it’s gonna be okay.” Rex assured. He grabbed Fives’ bicep and squeezed it comfortingly, doing similarly to Echo.
“You’re both gonna be okay.” He promised, praying to the Force that it’d be true. Where is that damned transport?
There was a constant beeping in the background. Echo’s sleep-addled brain barely comprehended it. He scrunched up his nose and groaned at the noise, turning over in the sheets so his face was pushed into the pillow.
The beeping persisted, and he begrudgingly opened his eyes. Bright fluorescent lighting made him push further into the pillow, though this time he took his annoyance quietly. He tried again, this time opening his eyes much more slowly.
He was on a medical bed, and there were several blankets piled on top of him. He blinked in confusion, trying to wash away the last of the sleep. It wasn’t standard for any trooper to have so many blankets in the medbay; surely there was someone else who needed them.
He looked around the room. When he tried to sit up, he only collapsed once again as a wave of dizziness made black spots dance across his vision. He shivered, feeling a wave of cold.
He lay facing the ceiling for what felt like an eternity, waiting for this dizzy spell to leave him alone. Once he felt confident enough to sit up again, he fully took in the medbay. No one but him was in the room, though he thought he could hear muffled talking from behind the door.
There was a shuffling next to him; then someone grabbed his bandaged hand. He jumped as he looked down at the surprise person. His face relaxed into a relieved smile at the sight of his brother.
“Go back to sleep, Eyayah .” Fives muttered softly. Echo obliged, laying back down comfortably. However, he only looked over his brother, searching for any injuries he may have had in whatever mission that got Echo sent to the medbay.
“What-” He coughed several times, his dry throat scraping. “What happened?” He asked once he had regained his voice. The ARC slumped into the pillow, content to let the massing heap of blankets weigh him down.
“There was an avalanche when we were scouting.” Fives said, he sounded sad. Echo wished he could squeeze his hand, but the bandaging held his fingers in place. “You got knocked out, I got all turned around. We spent a night out in the cold.” He was starting to sound distant, nothing at all like his chipper self.
“You get hurt?” Echo asked, his voice coming out in a hoarse whisper. Fives only shrugged, turning his face to cover his nose and mouth with one of the wool covers. Echo moved his free hand to rest on top of Five’s head.
“‘M okay now, vod ,” Echo said softly. He tried to fight the urge to sleep again, trying to blink less often once he noticed each blink lasted longer and felt heavier.
“Rex said the General would let us name the base,” Fives cut in, trying to fill the silence. Echo let out a soft hum, having lost the battle of keeping his eyes open. He still felt cold, and just wanted to snuggle up under all the covers. Though, he wished the beeping would stop, even if it was just a heart monitor.
“I was thinking we could name it Echo Base.” Fives said, utilizing a teasing tone. Echo frowned, peeking one eye open as he gave Fives an unimpressed look.
“There’re way cooler names than just calling it Echo Base .” Echo grumbled, scrunching up his nose. Fives snorted as he lightly bumped Echo’s elbow.
“Too late, I already told them.” Echo didn’t need to open his eyes to see the shit-eating grin on his brother’s face. He let out a huff.
“Can’t wait to get a transfer away from you.” He drawled sarcastically. It elicited a mock-offended gasp from his brother. He smiled softly as he let himself sink further into the pillow.

Left Behind
So, I kind of feel the need to apologize for this one because it is sad. I cried about five times writing it. But all that said, I do love it. I hope you enjoy. Major character deaths are involved. Don't say I didn't warn you!
Summary: Cody deals with the weight of the loss of Obi Wan.
Tumblr media
Cody sighed as he watched the first sun dip below the horizon. He scratched Akkani, Obi Wan’s eopie, under the chin and laid some food down for her before closing the barn and making his way back to the house.
The winds had brought half the sand dune up to the doorframe, Cody kicked it back with his boot as best he could, revealing two orange handprints on the white stucco of the house. Stretching out his hand, he caressed the second print, ever so slightly smaller than his.
He crossed around the back of the house, sitting in one of the two chairs pointed at the horizon. He closed his eyes, attempting to meditate the way Obi Wan had tried to teach him many times. He’d never had much patience for it. Silence wasn’t restful to him, the absence of sound just meant that something was wrong.
And it was.
“You’re late.” He said to the figure who appeared next to him, not taking his eyes off the scarlet sunset.
“The force doesn’t really have a chrono, Cody.” Obi Wan said with a chuckle.  “How long has it been?”
“Two months,” the clone said bitterly.
“I see,” Obi Wan said.
“Was it necessary?” Cody said, finally turning to face him.
Even in the blue mist of the force, Obi Wan still looked the same. He wore the jedi robes he used to have stored in a trunk in their bedroom. His lightsaber hung at his hip and Cody smiled thinking of how many times he had picked it up off the battle ground and handed it back to his General. He was stroking his beard and Cody was filled with an overwhelming sense of loss in witnessing the small gesture.
Obi Wan’s blue eyes were as transfixing as ever and Cody felt tears prickle in the corner of his eyes knowing he would never see them in person again.
“It was necessary, yes.” The Jedi said, “But I am still sorry I cannot return to you properly.” Obi Wan said, his hand reaching for Cody’s cheek.
Cody felt the tingle he always felt when Obi Wan touched him, from when they first met to their final night together. It was all consuming, a vibrating energy that somehow felt like home.
Obi Wan was still his home, even if he was no longer here.
“I don’t know how to do this without you,” Cody whispered, lowering his head as the tears started to fall onto the warm sand.
“You can do anything, my dear Commander. But I am not gone. I will be around more than you think.”
Obi Wan had known something was in motion for a while. He would sit in his meditation room for hours, communing with the force. Cody had hesitated to leave, fearing that something would happen if he left and, as usual, he was right. He returned to the house laden with supplies and no one to share them with.
“You should have waited for me,” Cody said, his sorrow turning into anger, “I would have come with you.”
“There was no time. They needed me Cody, both of them.” Obi Wan said.
Cody nodded. He knew that. He knew Obi Wan wouldn’t leave for just any reason. It had to be THE reason. The twins, his wards, the ones he had desperately tried to protect all these years. He knew all those things and it still hurt knowing they came before him. After all this time, after all they’d shared, Obi Wan couldn’t keep himself alive for Cody.
“I needed you too, Obi Wan. I’m not sure I can forgive you for dying.”
He looked up again, those sparkling blue eyes glistened, the corners drooping down in sadness, “That’s fair Cody. I wasn’t planning on forgiving you if you died first either,” he said with solemn smile.
“You promise to come back? To visit?” Cody asked.
“You have my word, my love.” Obi Wan said, kneeling in front of the commander and kissing him gently on the lips. “I don’t want to be without you either.”
***
“Cody,” a voice called urgently, “Cody”
Every inch of Cody’s body ached. The warm sun was streaming through the window in the bedroom. He winced at the brightness of the light, his eyes flickering over to see a bearded face swimming in front of him.
“Obi Wan?” he asked, blinking to clear his vision.
“No, Cody. It’s Rex. I…I got your comm, What do you need brother?”
Cody smiled as the Captain’s face finally came into view. He looked older than when he had last seen him, his bald head scattered with age spots, his beard a bright white.
“You got old, brother,” Cody said with a chuckle.
Rex laughed but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. He looked deeply concerned. “Let’s get out of here, I can get you some medical treatment and…”
Cody waved him off with the last of his strength. “No. This is where I belong Rex. This is my home.” He said simply. “I just wanted to say goodbye.”
Cody groaned as a fresh pain washed over his body. He wasn’t sure which of his advancing aging organs was giving out and he didn’t much care.
“What do you think happens to us when we die?” the commander asked, his words slurring.
“I’ve never put much thought into it,” Rex said.
“Do you think we find everyone we lost?” Cody asked his gravelly voice low.
“That sounds like as nice an outcome as any” Rex said, brushing a stray hair off Cody’s forehead. “That would be a pretty big party for us though.”
Cody chuckled and doubled over as a cough took over. “Yeah. Take care of yourself, Brother. I think this is it. I’ll see you on the other side, okay?”
“Cody?” Rex said his voice was impossibly quiet. “Cody?”
Cody sighed as he felt his eyes close. He drifted into the quiet. He didn’t like quiet, didn’t like to be alone much either.
He opened his eyes to a plane of blackness. White arches climbed up and over his head and down below his feet. He took a step, the invisible surface of the floor glowing as he did so.
“Hello there.” A familiar voice sounded from behind him.
Cody turned to look into the sparkly blue eyes of Obi Wan, his General, his love. A smile spread across his face as he reached for the jedi and was able to touch him once more. He felt Obi Wan’s arms wrap around him tightly, his face buried in Cody’s shoulder.
“You’re late,” Obi Wan said with a chuckle as he released him.
“We’ll call it payback,” Cody said. He grabbed the Jedi’s robes at the neck and pulled Obi Wan’s lips to his.
He was finally home.
