A smooth 4 miles for my Friday night and I have to say it feels amazing being able to run consistently again. Last night I bought new inserts for my shoes and they made a world of a difference. During my run tonight I had to stop three times due dogs chasing and barking violently at me. At that point I stop running walk quickly till I'm far enough away from the dog to start jogging again. Wish I could just put on a pair of spikes and take to the track now. It's been almost ten years since I have officially raced on a track. I have ran many times in training on a track but it's not the same. Being here working on the lights brings back all those feelings of being on the starting line. Waiting on the official anxiously as you get set to embark on a journey you have been training for. The crowd cheering. You take a deep breath the gun fires and the clock beings. At that moment you forget about everything around you. For me I embarked on my four lap journey around the track. As I being my training again not to race on a track but, to start doing road races again I find myself hungry to be better than before. The competitive side of me drives me to want to push myself daily hard to be faster and to run longer however, the other older side me says be patient train smarter. In time it will come. What an amazing run today was. I was not expecting to hit a 6:40 tempo run. 6:49, 6:42, 6:30. Todays run was supposed to steady low intensity run for Wednesday's 3 miles. I know that patience is key when easing back into a training program. My body feels amazing and I hope that the little extra push today does not set me back again. The amazing weather today is to blame for the added push as the cooler weather felt perfect to run in. Not every run is going to produce a pr and not every run is going to be a sprint that's that the thing about a marathon and half marathon. You have to stay focused on prize. Enjoy the run. Tonight's run consisted of a slow 3/4 of mile warm up with two one mile intervals with a quarter of mile slow interval between them. Super excited to say in feeling so much better. After, months of not being to train I am excited to be back on road. Also, might I say the cooler weather feels amazing. Congrats to all of you have raced this weekend. Every run is getting better. I'm a long way from running any pr. However, it feels amazing to be healthy enough run without any injury pain.
