So, I came up with an AU awhile back - decided it suited CanLiet

[CW: Implied gore | psychological horror]

MC is an upcoming model who has recently started gaining a big following. His life is going well, and he is about to sign a major contract deal with a big name in the fashion industry.  However, at a press conference, he is attacked with acid by an unhinged fan, who unfortunately escapes without being caught.

MC is blinded by the attack, and his face will need a lot of surgical procedures to repair the damage. Even after getting the work done, his face will always remain disfigured. He is devastated, his future seems bleak, and he falls into a deep depression.

MC is moved to a care home to stay while he recovers and receives mental health therapy. There, he meets the love interest of the story, who is a nurse at the facility. ML is seemingly kind, charming, and optimistic. 

They fall in love gradually, and MC moves in with him after being discharged from the care home. Things in their relationship are going fantastically, and MC is happy despite not being able to see, but he wishes he could see his lover's face even once.

While at a routine doctor's appointment, the doctor asks if he would be interested in a drug that could possibly restore some of his vision. Enthusiastically, MC agrees to participate in the trial. Because he doesn't want to jinx things, he does not tell his lover.

After a month on the drug, MC begins to be able to see little by little. He waits to tell his partner until he is able to see better. One day, MC wakes up and is able to see his lover's sleeping face for the first time.

He excitedly wakes his lover to share the news, but when his eyes open, MC's heart stops. The only thing he can remember about his masked attacker were their eyes, and they were looking back at him in that moment. 

His partner is the unhinged fan who assaulted him.

Then, like - ML discovers that MC found out the truth, and his vision is returning, causing ML to snap. He confines the MC and plans to remove his eyes entirely because he doesn't want him to be able to look at anyone else.
