A weeks inconvenience while our kitchen bench is covered in drying trays and racks has meant we now have a 3lb jar of candies Pomelo rind. . . Not only has this endeavour only cost us around £2.70 to make. It also means that we have saved ourselves around £30 in premade and premixed ingredients. . . This will now be used in mixed peel once we have lemon, orange and lime peel candied as well and some of it will be coated in chocolate for Yule. Ready for presents and just rather yummy treats for us. . . I know making your own can be scary but once the skill is learnt we wonder why we ever worried about it. I will be writing this one up and adding it to the blog very shortly. . . The other thing to remember is this. Citrus peel is not great in the compost bucket. For those of us who have to throw away our kitchen scraps but want to lower the amount we are sending to landfill this is a perfect way to do so.
