This series of Candela is waaaaaaaay more cinematic than the first, and the first was no slouch

Between Spencer’s narration and some of the amazing moves from the players, it felt less like watching a horror game and more like watching a horror flick

Like, my memories of the scenes from the tunnels, the lighthouse, they aren’t of people sitting around the table

it’s of flickering light in carved stone, as a broken solider sings “take me out to the ball game”

it’s that same solider surrounded by demon dogs, swinging his shotgun like a baseball bat, knowing he will buy the rest of the group the time they need to get past

it’s the shout of his LT, sending him up the rope before being overwhelmed

it’s the destitute woman, older beyond her years, giving everything for her circle, guiding the doctor to the heart as the others fall

it’s the doctor, sealing the wound in the fabric of reality, the spirit of her father guiding her in one final act of love

this episode just crawled into my brain and made itself at home

Well if you insist!

The autism in my mind has been really focused on Elsie Roberts from the new chapter of Candela, mainly because she’s a Jekyll/Hyde type of character and I’m a sucker for monster designs!

I was working on her monster design while listening to spooky music for the vibes and Confrontation from the Jekyll and Hyde musical popped up and the autism got to work on making a full blown animated music video in my mind that I had to physically stop drawing for the length of the song!

(Scenes ideas below)

I’m gonna go crazy a bit too with scene ideas!

First big thing! Lyrics would be on the screen but they would be altered (only in written form) to words relating to the characters. So ‘Jekyll’ gets replaced with ‘Elsie’ or ‘Roberts’ and ‘Hyde’ gets replaced with ‘The Beast’ or just ‘Beast.’

It basically starts with Elsie in her lab, dealing with the fact that she created a monster inside of her.

She sings in front of a mirror during the words ‘Am I a good man? Am I a mad man.’ When Hyde starts singing Elsie notices a large shape in the mirror’s reflection but when she turns nothing is there, but when she turns back around during ‘You will never get away from me’ her reflection is gone and all she sees is the beast.

Most of the middle is Elsie arguing with the beast as versions of it appear in shadows, scientific notes, reflections in beakers, etc. tormenting her as she slowly becomes more stressed. (If you seen the episode you know what lots of stress leads too :3).

During the ‘I’ll live inside you forever’ section, Elsie becomes incredibly stressed as the beast grows larger and she starts to smash and rip things that contain its visage. During ‘They’ll never be able to separate Jekyll from Hyde’ the beast appears behind Elsie, towering over her and launching its self towards her. (Screen goes dark and refocuses on Elsie breathing heavily)

Okay this bit! This part of the song has Jekyll and Hyde singing back to back (one line after the other) and basically Elsie switches between herself and the beast, distinguished by her having a scared and stressed appearance while the beast has red eyes, sharp teeth, and a wide smile.

After ‘I am you, you are Hyde’ Elsie faces the mirror again during the speaking segment, seeing the beast stare at her instead of her reflection.

Elsie: Damn you Beast! Take all your evil deeds and rot in Hell!

Beast: I’ll see you there Roberts!

The beast then lunges from the mirror, mouth open, and collides with Elsie, leading to a silhouette shot of her form changing into the beast during the final instrumental section.

(Sorry this is long. I absolutely love your animatic idea and I wanted to share mine as well.)

Oh the animatic I would create for Candela Obscura: Eye For An Eye if I could

To the tune of Take Me Out to the Ballgame:

Take me out: Sean, gun shouldered, leads the party down the darkening railroad tunnel To the ballgame: At the gate with the eye, Sean tosses a rope so they can climb over the wall Take me out: They don’t climb fast enough as the train approaches, Sean pulls out a grenade To the crowd: Sean blows up the gate, pulls Nathaniel through to safety at the last minute Buy me some peanuts: Everyone realizes the lighthouse is dead and they’re surrounded by many many eyes And cracker jacks: Auntie Bee starts scattering her bag of bloodied feed to distract the squid dogs I don’t care: Everyone else moves to the lighthouse while Sean holds off squid dogs with his gun-club If I never come back: Nathaniel orders Sean back, and he makes it up the rope just in time For it’s root: A rift in reality opens up, the huge creature pushes through with too-big hands and smile Root: Nathaniel collapses, a thread and blue ball rising out of his chest toward the creature Root: Marion pushes Auntie Bee out of the way then collapses, threadless For the home team: Auntie Bee grabs Jean and pulls her to the astrolabe as Sean stands firm If they don’t win: Jean flips through the book until Auntie B reaches out to steady her and nods It’s a shame: The creature smiles, its hand coming down like a cage over Marion For it’s one: Sean raises his gun and shoots, the flash fades to the image of a rushing river (in sepia) Two: Sean shoots, the flash fades to an image of a face behind a cracked door (in red) Three strikes: Jean moves her hands in arcane shapes to sew the rift closed You’re out: The creature rears back, disappearing back into the rift except for its severed hand In the old: A ghostly image of Jean’s father kisses her head, Auntie Bee comes to her side Ball: Nathan wakes, one eye white, while Sean pushes the hand away and kneels next to Marion Game: Marion wakes, gasping, then screams There's one final wide shot of the upside-down lighthouse's light coming back on and making a single sweep through the darkness

Good lord Rajan is so hot and good lord did he and the good doctor have some chemistry also this sounds far more intimate with this animation than the episode itself I got shivers down my spine.
