We Need Your Support Now More Than Everš³ļøāšš
Hello friends.
We are LGBTIQ refugees from East Africa, and we are facing unimaginable challenges in the refugee camps where we have been displaced. Every day, we struggle to survive in hostile environments filled with homophobia and persecution. Our lives are constantly at risk, and we need your help to make it through these difficult times.
Despite the challenges, we have some good news to share! The first group of LGBTIQ refugees from our community is finally heading to Canada. This is a huge milestone for us, and it wouldn't have been possible without your incredible support. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by us, and we ask that you continue to support us in whatever way you can.
But we still have a long way to go. Many of us remain in these camps, living in fear and uncertainty. We are asking, kindly, for your donations to our fundraiser. Every penny countsāwhether itās for food, medication, or shelter, your contribution helps us survive another day.
Even though it's difficult to keep asking, we canāt stop. Our lives and futures depend on your generosity. Please, if you can, donate to our cause. Together, we can create a safer future for our community.
Thank you for your continued support, and letās keep moving forward.

ā¼ļø URGENT ā¼ļø
Ashely Phil has reached out to me to share this video!
Although groups are being sent to Canada, they still need resources like food and water, medicine, tents, mosquito nets, repairs (especially because of the destructive rainy season), warm clothes and suitcases, etc. It is dangerous for the LGBTQ+ community, since the environment is so hostile and hate crimes are common.
Please consider donating, and please share!

Facing the Struggle as a Queer Transgender Refugee: We Need Your Help.š
Hey .
I'm AshleymilesPhil, a transgender queer refugee, and I come to you with a heavy heart today. Iām part of a community of LGBTIQ refugees who are facing unimaginable challenges. Life in the camp is beyond difficult. We have almost no access to food, clean water, medication, or even proper shelter. Every day feels like a battle for survival, and despite our resilience, the lack of basic necessities is pushing us to the brink.
It feels embarrassing to ask for help, honestly. I hate it. But the truth is, weāre vulnerable and we need support. Without the kindness of people like you, we are left to starve. We depend on the generosity of well-wishers just to get through the day. Lately, the donations weāve received have been scarce, and right now, we are at a critical point.
We need your help, now more than ever. Your donation can make the difference between life and death for us. No matter how small, it helps provide food, water, medical care, and shelter for us. If you can, please contribute to our GoFundMe fundraiser and help us survive this dire situation.
https://gofund.me/4d80b32c
I know asking for money feels wrong, and itās hard to come forward like this, but the reality is, we are desperate. We canāt do it alone, and weāre relying on the compassion of those who can lend a hand.
Thank you for reading and for caring. Your support means everything to us.
With gratitude,
AshleymilesPhil
They've gotten a group of people to Canada, help them continue what they're doing!

š Urgent Call for Action: Rescue LGBTIQ Refugees and Asylum Seekers Trapped in Kakuma Camp, Kenya.
As the world celebrates progress in advancing the rights of the LGBTIQ community, it is disheartening to witness the increasing danger faced by LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers in Kakuma Camp, Kenya. These individuals have fled their home countries seeking safety and acceptance, only to find themselves trapped in a cycle of violence and persecution.
Kakuma Camp, originally established to provide refuge to those fleeing conflict and persecution, has sadly become a place where LGBTIQ individuals are subjected to discrimination, exploitation, and even physical harm. Homophobia and transphobia remain prevalent within the camp, leaving these vulnerable individuals isolated and living in constant fear for their lives.
Reports have emerged of systematic violence against LGBTIQ refugees, with incidents of physical assault, sexual violence, and even murder. The lack of adequate protection and support from both the camp authorities and the international community is a grave violation of their fundamental human rights.
It is crucial that immediate action is taken to rescue these marginalized individuals and relocate them to safer environments. Governments, international organizations, and human rights activists must come together to ensure the safety and well-being of all refugees, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
First and foremost, the Kenyan government must recognize and address the plight of LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers. They should establish proper mechanisms to investigate and prosecute cases of violence and discrimination within the camp. Moreover, they should work with international organizations to create safe spaces where these individuals can seek support and protection without fear of retribution.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also plays a critical role in this crisis. They must actively engage with the Kenyan government, providing technical assistance and financial support to address the safety concerns faced by LGBTIQ refugees. The UNHCR's mandate to protect and advocate for refugees should extend to everyone, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Civil society organizations and human rights activists must amplify the voices of LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers, demanding immediate action from governments and international organizations. By raising awareness, organizing protests, and advocating for policy changes, we can exert pressure on decision-makers to prioritize the safety and well-being of these individuals.
Furthermore, the international community should provide financial and logistical support to ensure the safe relocation of LGBTIQ refugees to countries where they will be protected and respected. Governments should consider expanding their resettlement programs to accommodate the increasing number of individuals in danger.
It is time for the world to come together and stand in solidarity with LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers trapped in Kakuma Camp. Their cry for help must not go unnoticed or unanswered. Let us advocate for their rescue and ensure that they can live their lives with dignity, free from persecution and violence. šā

Big detail missing from PM's backdown on LGBTQI+ census decision
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/big-detail-missing-from-pms-backdown-on-lgbtqi-census-decision/
Big detail missing from PM's backdown on LGBTQI+ census decision
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says a new question on sexual orientation will be tested for the next census, partially reversing a government decision that caused widespread backlash this week.
But advocates say the backdown isnāt enough, with no apparent commitment to questions on gender identity and intersex status needed too.
On Friday morning, Anthony Albanese told ABC Radio Melbourne the sexuality question was a ācommonsense positionā.
āWeāve been talking with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and they are going to test for a new question, one on sexuality,ā he said.
āTheyļæ½ļæ½ļæ½ll be testing, making sure as well that people will have the option of not answering it.ā
The PM said there will be a question āas long as the testing goes well.ā
Speaking to ABC Radio, Anthony Albanese said heās been overseas and attempted to distance himself from the backlash over the decision, first confirmed on Sunday.
But while LGBTQIA+ advocates welcome a sexual orientation question, the Prime Minister hadnāt confirmed the status of other topics counting trans and gender diverse people and intersex Aussies.
āWe welcome the inclusion of a sexual orientation question but the national snapshot of our nation must include all of us, not just some of us,ā said Equality Australia CEO Anna Brown.
āThe federal government shouldnāt pick and choose those of us who are worthy of being counted.
āTrans and gender diverse people and those with innate variations of sex characteristics deserve to be recognised as much as anyone else.
āIt would be a shame if the government doesnāt trust the Australian public enough to accept that the census needs to gather basic data about our nation for it be meaningful and useful.
āThese are sensible and pragmatic changes that will simply mean governments and other service providers have the data they need to make sound decisions, and there is widespread support for these new questions from across the parliament.
āIncluding LGBTIQ+ people in the census simply brings Australia into line with countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, Scotland and New Zealand that already count our communities.ā
Greens LGBTQIA+ spokesperson Stephen Bates said his party now plans to force a vote on the issue in the parliament.
āThe community has been asking for this Census change for years. Labor must do the bare minimum and implement it,ā he said.
āHow many more broken promises will Labor make before it becomes clear they couldnāt care less about LGBTIQA+ Australians?
āAnd now the Prime Minister, panicked by criticism this week, is trying to split the queer community down the middle.
āIf we donāt keep the pressure up Albanese will keep on feeding us scraps and half measures. They need to count us in, all of us, gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, intersex and everything in between.
āItās all well and good for some Labor MPs to break rank on social media, but will they cross the floor in Parliament when it counts?ā
Opposition leader Peter Dutton slammed for āwokeā census sledge
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Peter Dutton has been criticised for his take on the census controversy.
āI think the set of questions that weāve got at the moment, the long-term way in which weāve collected this data, has stood us well as a country,ā he said on Thursday.
āIf youāve got the woke agenda, which I think is at odds with the vast majority of Australians, then the Prime Minister should argue that case. But I think weāre pretty happy with the settings that weāve got in place at the moment.ā
But LGBTIQ+ Health Australia CEO Nicky Bath said
āFrom this commentary, it appears that, he has forgotten that LHA and other stakeholders worked with the Morrison government and the Australian Bureau of Statistics to create the 2020 Standard for Sex, Gender, Variation of Sex Characteristics and Sexual Orientation Variables.
The then government supported [that standard] being included in all government national health and wellbeing surveys.
āI am surprised that Mr Dutton is not considering the economic impact to the nation, of not collecting the best possible data to make sound fiscal resourcing decisions, for health and wellbeing services planning.
āI think people living in Australia support good healthcare for all and not just for some.
āRather than blaming so called woke agendas, Mr Dutton would be better to be asking what the financial cost will be of suboptimal health and wellbeing services and program planning if these four simple questions are not asked.ā

At the same time, it recognizes the urgent need to ease the suffering of people now behind bars, especially those who are hyper-vulnerable to brutalization, like queer and trans prisoners. This post is almost three months late, but Iāve just been so busy that I never really had the time to publish anything. Anyway, here are some photos that I took during the colourful Pride festivities in Newmarket.
Weāre lucky that weāre living in a place where diversity is accepted and celebrated. Of course, thereās still a lot of work to be done especially with the conversion therapy thatās carried out to ācorrect the errorā of someoneās homosexuality. We have a long way to go, but weāre getting there no matter what with rainbows and sparkles! Happy Pride!
P.S. I promise to post the ones that Iāll take next year in a timely manner.

Unity Through Art: A Call for Global Supportšššš³ļøāā§ļøš³ļøāā§ļøš³ļøāā§ļøššš³ļøāā§ļøš
As we continue to face difficult times, I want to share something very special that represents both hope and unity. My dear friend, @pyuavlin created this beautiful piece of art that speaks to where I come from and what it means to stand together in adversity.
The artwork features crested cranes and a rainbow, two powerful symbols in my culture. The cranes represent unity, togetherness, and resilienceāqualities we rely on every day as LGBTIQ refugees. The rainbow, a universal symbol of diversity and hope, also reflects our pride and determination as a community that is often marginalized, but never defeated.
Here in the refugee camp, things are getting tougher. Food is becoming scarcer, and many of us are falling sick with little access to medical care. But just as these cranes stand together, we continue to stand with each other, holding on to hope for a better tomorrow.
I share this artwork with the world today not just as a piece of beauty, but as a call for support. We need help to survive these tough months aheadāfood, medical care, and basic necessities are becoming more and more out of reach. We are also working to support some of our friends who are about to be resettled in Canada. They need essentials for travel, and our fundraiser is struggling to meet its goals.
Pyuās art reminds me that even in the darkest of times, unity can get us through. I am asking for your help. Whether itās sharing our GoFundMe link, donating, or simply keeping us in your thoughts, any form of support can go a long way. Together, like these cranes, we can rise above the storm.
Thank you for standing with us.

This is important and urgent!!!
I have been talking with @ashleymilesphil for a while now, who is a spokesperson for a group of refugees in Gorom Refugee Camp in South Sudan. South Sudan is currently under war, and camps like these are incredibly unsafe and hostile toward LGBTQ+ people.
They face hunger, attacks, property damage, injury, illness, and natural disaster. They are susceptible to HIV, AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and more illnesses from these conditions. Mosquitoes are more dangerous than usual, because recently their community was attacked and their shelters were destroyed, leaving them with little to no defense against mosquitoes and mosquito borne diseases.
To begin to rebuild, this community needs donations in order to buy food, clean water, medication, and supplies for new shelters. They have also been moving people out of camps to Canada and need money for clothes and other supplies to be set for the trip.
Please look at Ashleyās page, share, and donate! The last donation was five days ago, which is an especially long time to go with scarce supplies and funds in such a dangerous environment.
Here is a recent update. Please check out @ashleymilesphil ās page. Donate if you can! Even a little bit helps, especially if many people do it.
