someday i wanna make another pair of wings,, cuz i think there's a lot i could improve,,, but i am still pretty proud of this !! i'd like to thank my parents for helping me out a BUNCH !! (ESPECIALLY WITH THE FEATHERS),, and the mechanism was SUPER fun to make

i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies

BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...

#pjo #riordanverse #pjo tv crit #i do love the casting for the musical lots and lots though #it was really good #i do also have some nitpicks for show casting but they're largely inconsequential #like majority i very much enjoy and think are cast well #i only have one i'd say im actually disappointed with and that's Poseidon. idk he just feels. bland??? does that make sense?#like idk maybe it's the costuming but im not getting Sea God *or* Fishing Dad from him #like i think i kinda see what they were going for and i saw some gifs of him in another show where he plays a pirate and its like #okay. *little* bit better. but idk im just not getting Poseidon from it #in general most of the immortals in the show dont feel very Immortal(tm) but thats definitely mostly just the writing/show itself #not any reflection of the casting #my only other two are i would have liked plus sized Clarisse. i am VERY sad we didnt get that #Dior is a VERY good Clarisse though so i'm not too upset about it. i like her Clarisse energy. the yelling is fantastic.#my most controversial pjo tv take is im still meh on Walker. like he's fine. but like he's kind of Just Fine to me so far #its probably mostly the writing being bad but he hasnt grown on me as Percy yet. i can tell he has the energy though in interviews n stuff #and the main trio dynamic in interviews and stuff is *very* good. i just wish the show writing was better #because the casting IS very good but they have so little to work with. you can really tell theyre trying their best #i like to joke the show would be better if they just set the cast loose in the woods doing in-character improv #like its clear basically all of them know their characters SUPER well. id watch 8 episodes of in the woods pjo cosplay improv.

something I think is terribly unfair about snw is that there are so many reasons I hate it, including but not limited to the weird waxed-chest cheating spock (blade??), them "developing" chapel so she can give up her career for a man who doesn't care about her anyways, the choice of casting ethan peck in the first place, and their absolute refusal to engage with the genre of science fiction (or. you know. a basic understanding of how physics or sound waves or computers work) in a way that makes any sense. I hate it. I hate it!!

however.

I wasn't initially a fan of paul wesley as kirk, but the second I saw him do that crazy close imitation of william shatner's little smug grin and shrug, I was in. I love it when people are good at what they do, and it really comes across in his performance. (meanwhile they could replace ethan peck with a wooden board and write FAMOUS ACTOR'S GRANDSON on it and have the same effect. but that's not my point at the moment.)

and you know who else is acting like her life is on the line? christina chong. which is not to say I don't have issues with her character! so far I've only watched tos and the related movies so idk what the connection to khan is and it took me a bit to realise that they weren't actually going to get into that (I've decided that they probably explored it in another series and I haven't seen it yet, because if they just threw that surname in there for fun I will go insane), and I have no earthly idea why they decided to make such a compellingly strong, unbreakable kind of character terrified of the fucking gorn, of all villains. anyways. not my point.

my point is that I am a simple lesbian, and it is so unfair that in such a bad show la'an is so gorgeous and strong and smart and did I mention gorgeous. if only they could write her the way she deserved to be written. I love her as she is but she could be so so so interesting if they just gave her a decent plot! alas for some reason it is a sitcom that occasionally has battle sequences and computers and not an actual science fiction drama. but a girl can dream.

#can you believe this me trying to write a post about the things i actually liked about strange new worlds #im so sorry to fans but i dont like it as a standalone series and i like it even less as part of the star trek universe #where are the colours?? tos is lit in green and pink and yellow and you can tell they just got colour tv and are so so excited about it #everything in snw is white or black or blue. if you want to emphasise that colour scheme CHANGE THE COSTUME COLOURS TOO.#DONT LEAVE US WITH THIS FAINT REMNANT OF WHAT WE COULD HAVE HAD #snw if it was good. it haunts me.#feel free to block me if you disagree! im not here to argue im just rambling

This is important rn bc not only do I not have the money for prop fortress stuff (and I wanna hit things/people with the melee weapons but shhhh) so id have to make shit by hand

Also melee only bc I don't think a public middle school will be happy with me carrying essentially a realistic nerf gun that will break if it gets too close to the floor (not hate to the guys that do this stuff, but I don't trust that hollow 3d printed plastic will not break immediately when set down too hard) and again I AM BRINGING THIS INTO A SCHOOL WITH CHILDREN AGED 11-14 AND ID SAY 12-14 BUT ISTG THESE 6TH GRADERS LOOK YOUNG AS FUCK

Oh yeah also any good fan made merch like buttons or stickers and keychains and stuff cus I love TF2 and I will give everyone at school a reason to bully my bitch ass
