I think it's often forgotten that Sukuna had intentions on killing Megumi before deciding to possess his body but even still he technically still tried to kill his spirit by trauma.

DID YOU PRAY TODAY?
Tumblr media
"Why are we doing this again?"
"Because it's Sunday and you have no school today. Now be quiet and let me continue!"
It was the weekend and Angel was forcing all the first and second year students to participate in a Sunday school session. As an apology, Hana had baked some cookies for everyone but they tasted more bland than her personality. When she wasn't looking, the group then went over to Itadori and used one of Sukuna's mouth hands as a trash can.
"I thought this series was supposed to be based on Buddihism and Shintoist beliefs?"
"It's Gege. He can add Abrahamic religions into his work if he wants to. Now let me get on with my lesson! Can anyone tell me the events that took place one thousand years ago?'
The whole class groaned. It seems that now they were also being forced into a history lesson.
"Didn't Sukuna get his ass beat?"
Angel then forced Hana to put a bar of soap in Yuji's mouth.
"Language Itadori! But yes, he was defeated. Unfortunately, my clan and Satoru Gojo's were nearly made extinct. This is why the fallen is such a dangerous enemy!"
"The fallen? Did he get dropped on his head as a baby or something?"
"Please you guys, I can hear him screaming in my head..."
"So he's throwing a tantrum? I guess he really is a toddler."
A mouth then appeared under Yuji's eye.
"Damn brats! Once I am free of this body I'll kill each and every of you, one by one!"
Angel then poured a liquid from a small bottle down his throat. Sukuna began to vomit more blood than when the door opens in the shining.
"...What did you feed him?"
"Holy water. It won't kill him but it should get him to settle down for now."
Ijichi was then called to clean up the mess. As the poor man scrubbed away blood, Mai went over to Maki.
"Have you seen this!?"
She grabbed her phone and put on JujuTube. There was another viral video from their cousin Andrew Tate/Naoya Zenin. He was doing another lame podcast.
"-and if that doesn't work, just give her a blackflash. It works every time. Anyway you can email me at [email protected] or hit me up on my Twitter-"
"The old house still gets mail deliveries right? Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"I've already got a website in mind. Select expedite shipping and it should arrive in two hours."
____________
"And that's why God cursed us with sin! Now, can anyone tell me the way to salvation?"
Megumi was sleeping at his desk so Nobara slapped him on the back of his head.
"Jesus Christ!"
"That's right Fushiguro! I can see why Hana adores you so much!"
Hana then began to choke and Megumi raised an eyebrow.
"Nevermind, I don't want to know."
"All right students, have you ever seen an exorcism take place?"
"No offence, but we do that every day."
"Salmon."
"No, no, not a sorcerer style exorsim. I'm talking about removing demons from a possessed persons body!"
Sukuna then spoke to Itadori.
"Hey brat. Take these. I'm sure they will be of help."
How Sukuna managed to smuggle a box of DVD's was unknown.
"Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?"
The king of curses did his best to hold back his smirk.
"Don't worry about it."
Itadori then raised his hand.
"Hana sensei erm I mean, Angel, would these help?"
In his hands was a copy of bible black. "Angels have to do with the Bible, right?" he thought to himself. "This must be some kind of instruction video."
Angel's mouth then made a shocked look and then Hana was now being forced to swat Itadori with a wooden ruler.
"REPENT!!!!!"
"I'M SORRY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID WRONG! SUKUNA SAID IT WOULD HELP!"
All of a sudden a mouth formed on Yuji's cheek and began to laugh with glee.
"I should have figured he was behind this. Itadori, once class is over I'll give you a lesson about the sins of fornication..."
"WAIT, WHAT! PLEASE DON'T, I PROMISE I'LL BURN THE DVD'S JUST PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME THE SEX ED TALK!"
"Alright then. Just know that if you are lying to me than God shall strike you down!"
Nobara then moved her desk away from him.
"KUGISAKI!?"
"Hey, I'm not going to risk being hit by a thunderbolt because you're a teen boy!"
____________
"Achoo!"
Kashimo, the god of thunder then looked over his shoulder.
"Why do I feel like someone is talking about me behind my back?"
____________
"Why does no one believe me?"
Hana then clapped her hands.
"Is anyone here familiar with William Peter Blatty's the exorcist?"
"The novel or the movie?"
"Either is fine."
"Is that the one where the old lady crawls on the ceiling?"
"You're thinking of the third one."
"Wasn't that the favorite movie of some cannibal?"
"Hey Sukuna, what do you think of the exorcist three?"
"I don't even know what that is brat."
"Let me look it up on my phone. Hey Alexa, what year did the third exorcist film come out?"
"Who the hell is Ale-"
"The Exorcist three is the third film in the exorcist trilogy and based on the 1983 horror novel Legion-"
"We're getting off track! Can anyone detail the events that take place?"
"Doesn't a priest come along and tie a little girl down to her bed so she stops floating?"
"Close enough. Everyone, please help me push the tables together so we can tie Itadori down on to them.""Wait, what?
____________
As chaos began to break out, Maki and Mai were now scrolling through Naoya's Twitter account.
@NaoyaMasterOfSwag69
12:05
"Wtf? I just got home and my uncle is yelling at me! He says this kind of filth isn't allowed in our family but he literally screwed his niece. I'm going to ask my father what's going on."
12:10
"Dad's passed out again like usual. I tried to wake him up be he was drunk and mumbling something about dragons? He said it's in my room so I'll update you all."
12:20
"Okay, this has got to stop! I don't know who you are but this isn't funny!"
Below was a photo with various packages. Several items lay opened including three different bad dragon dildos along with some gay pornography. One clearly titled '17 naked cowboys in the showers at ram ranch'.
12:45
"I SWEAR I'M NOT GAY, I LIKE BOOBS! WHO'S WRINGING THE DOOR BELL!? WHY THE HELL ARE THERE A BUNCH OF MALE STRIPPERS!? HOW DID YOU PEOPLE GET THIS ADDRESS!?"
The twins then high fived each other.
____________
"SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME!"
Itadori was now pleading for mercy, having been held down against his will and forced to endure Angel's exorcism.
"THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU! THE POWRT OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU!"
Suddenly the door opened.
"What's he doing here!?"
It was none other than Kenjaku.
"What do you think you're doing!?" cried Angel.
"Taking my son out of your class, what else does it look like?"
"I'M NOT FINISHED YET!"
"Oh yes you are! Don't forget that I can sue you and all of Jujutsu Tech for forcing your beliefs on my son! Now come Yuji, let's get you out of these ropes."
"Please don't let him take me away! The last time he started going on about how my father was some kind of sex god!"
"I'm afraid there's nothing that I can do Yuji. You'll have to leave my class..."
"Come son, I got us tickets to Takaba's comedy special."
"SUKUNA, YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO THAT NEITHER OF US WANT TO WATCH THAT GUY PERFORM!"
Itadori got no response.
"Sukuna...?"
The next thing he knew and Yuji was covered in vomit.
"Gross! What did you eat!?"
"You all fed me those cookies, remember? I think I might actually die of food poisoning..."
How Hana baked cookies that harmed one who was immune to all poisons was a still a mystery.

Gojo Satoru x reader
Warnings: none! entirely fluff! this will quite literally rot your teeth. afab reader
a/n: this ended up being a little longer than I intended lol whoops
Word Count: 2.5k
Satoru Gojo is a busy man.
The strongest can't really take a break. He’s on call 24/7. People are pulling him in all directions simultaneously. With everything that's been going on, between the mess with Sukuna, and everything happening at the school, he’s been short on time.
He needs a break.
He's more tired than he lets on. He’s good at hiding it. Especially around his students. It's hard to pull him away from his work. He's insistent that he’s fine. When you’re around someone for so long, you learn to pick up when they aren't. He can pretend to be fine all he wants. You know otherwise.
Sometimes what the strongest needs is someone to boss him around.
He’s capable of taking care of himself. He’s proven that already. But worrying is in your nature. You care about him, of course you’re going to worry.
You were a first year when you met him, having just transfered schools after an incident involving a curse. In a matter of weeks your life had seemingly been flipped on its head. The switch took some time to get used to. Switching schools your first year, let alone switching to this one in particular, was never going to be easy. Getting used to the way Jujutsu society worked took a while. He was a year above you, and you remember absolutely hating him. Gojo was insufferable- or you found him to be such. But he was friends with Nanami, who was a friend of yours, so you reluctantly hung out with him. Nanami, being in the same year as you, was the first to help you out, extending a hand and helping you get used to the way things worked.
Spending time with him didn't do much to change your views. The two of you couldn't have been more different. You still are. But something about opposites attracts.
The first time you gave him the benefit of the doubt was the first time he saved your life.
It may be a bit of an over exaggeration. You’re certain you would have survived without his help, but that could also be an attempt to preserve your pride. You went after a curse, not expecting it to be as strong as it was. As far as you knew, it shouldn't have been stronger than a grade three. Being a grade two at the time, this should have been well in your ability. There ended up being more than one curse, and they were stronger than anyone had realized. You were in over your head.
It wasn't your fault. You couldn't have known. It's not like you could pick and choose which curses you fought. As a student, that was decided for you.
You had resigned to your fate, separated from the others, injured. Nothing fatal. It left a cool scar, though. But you were well out of your league, put on an assignment far harder than you could deal with. You hate to admit defeat, but you had no other option.
Out of what seemed like thin air came Gojo, taking out both curses like it was nothing. Despite not liking him all that much, it was hard to not be impressed. He was strong. Stronger than you could ever hope to be.
You made it home in one piece.
It was three days before you’d finally confront him.
Getting him alone was hard enough. Being an underclassman, you didn't interact with him a whole lot. You didn't have any classes together. The few times you ran into him were when you hung out with Nanami, who was gone at the time.
When the opportunity presented itself, you took it, cornering him behind the school.
Even back then it was impossible to sneak up on him. He could sense you coming.
“Jesus-” he said, referring to you by your last name, “you look like you want to kill me.”
“You helped me out.” You said. “Why?”
He only shrugged. Not wanting to take that for an answer, you followed him. You were insistent you paid him back. You’d never let a debt like that go unpaid. The first debts are always the hardest to pay back. And when a first debt involves saving your life, well, you’ve got a lifetime to pay back. You only left once Gojo showed up. He needed to talk to Gojo about something, and although you were curious, you didn't feel like sticking around.
Gojo spent the next couple days scheming. You were determined enough you would do just about anything. He could have easily abused his power. It would have been even easier to force you to drop it, but something told him you weren't about to take no for an answer.
You wouldn't.
3pm in the bathrooms. It was hardly a week later. Your last class had ended for the day. You had snuck cigarettes in, blowing the smoke out of the crack in the window. You don't smoke anymore, but you went through nearly a pack a day in high school. There wasn't a specific brand you liked—you didn't necessarily like smoking, but you did it when you were stressed—you just used whatever you got ahold of.
You didn't hear the door open. Gojo wasn't the sneaky type, but he could be when he wanted. You weren't too hard to sneak up on.
If you didn't have contraband that likely would have gotten you expelled, you would have screamed when you saw him. He scared you, not to mention he snuck into the girl’s bathrooms. The two of you would be in equally deep shit if you reported the other. So at that moment you came to a silent agreement.
“You still want to pay me back?” He asked. “Cause I have an idea.”
You perked up at his words.
“Get me mochi from that shop just down the road. You know the one that just opened up?” He asked. “Bring me some and I’ll call us even.”
“That's it?” You asked. It was almost anticlimactic. But despite everything, he was insistent.
Gojo hasn't changed a whole lot since then.
He still has his sweet tooth. He still makes you get him mochi from that shop. It feels like you’re the ones keeping it in business nowadays.
You’re not quite sure who made the first move.
Soon you began spending more time together away from Nanami and Geto. You got along better than anyone—mostly you—ever expected. You weren't the most outwardly affectionate. While you were far from shy, pda wasn't really your thing. Gojo is the opposite. Even now, years after you began dating, he’s still clingy. You’ve gotten used to it. Gojo is possessive, he wants everyone to know you’re his. Not that they don't know already. He can't shut up about you.
Getting him alone has always been hard. Not much has changed in the past few years. He’s only gotten busier. Try to drag him away from work all you want, you rarely succeed.
Tonight he's come willingly. He finished his work early, and all you had left was stuff you could finish in the morning.
Nights at home like this—together—are rare. It feels like you hardly see him anymore. You often fall asleep alone, only to wake up to the other side of the bed being cold. He’s been so occupied with this business with Yuji, that he’s hardly had time for anything else. You sneak away during your breaks, like you’re teenagers again, stealing kisses between classes. You almost don't know what to do.
It almost feels like you should do something to celebrate.
The lights are off when you get home. Your apartment looks empty. Megumi must still be out with his friends.
“What should we do for dinner?” Gojo asks.
“Takeout?” You say. "I don't feel like cooking."
Gojo’s a decent cook, but he doesn't feel like doing so either. He’d get takeout every night if you’d let him. But that's not good for him (or Megumi) so you force him to do otherwise. Because you’re normally home, and you like baking, you’re usually the one to make dinner. There's not much in the fridge. You'll have to get groceries eventually. Not tonight. Maybe tomorrow. It shouldn't take long.
“How does Korean barbeque sound?" He asks. "From that place down the street?”
"Sounds good,"
You find a menu buried in one of your kitchen drawers, stashed with other takeout menus. You pick out something—two meals, plus some sweet buns for dessert—he calls the restaurant. You pay the extra cash to have it delivered. Neither of you feel like going and picking it up. It's more convenient than the alternative.
The tv drones on in the background while you wait. There’s not much on tv at this hour. News, some late night soaps. While you do like your occasional soap opera, none that you normally watch are on. Gojo changes it to the news. The weather. It looks like it'll rain tomorrow morning, but the rest of the day is supposed to be warm.
"We should go to the park tomorrow," you say, "having a picnic sounds nice."
Gojo hums in approval. As long as you make those tea cakes—the ones with honey drizzled on top—he'll agree to tag along. Maybe you'll go check out the bookstore too. It's been a while since you've last gone.
You strip out of your uniform, pulling on some more comfortable clothes; a pair of shorts and one of Gojo's shirts. It smells like him. You can't help but bury your nose in the collar.
When there’s a knock at the door, Gojo is the one to answer. He returns with your food. You gather napkins and utensils. Gojo never saw the point in anything other than stainless steel chopsticks. Or wooden ones—those given to you with takeout—if he wasn't feeling up to doing dishes. You, on the other hand, bought all sorts of colorful ones and stands that may or may not have been lifted from various restaurants. That's one habit from your teenage years you never lost. You'd pocket almost anything that wasn't nailed down. Your apartment has a rather impressive assortment of salt and pepper shakers. Not to mention the box of hotel soaps you never use, but took because you "might" need it. He enables you, taking some whenever he stays out of town, bringing them home for you. Gojo can hardly say no to you.
Gojo settles next to you on the couch, his shoulder pressed to yours. He can't keep his hands off of you. He’s possessive by nature. Everyone has to know you’re his. He always has to be touching you. Not necessarily with his hands, but he presses his thigh against yours while sitting next to you, or his body pressed against yours from behind in public.
The two of you eat in relative silence. Gojo’s attention turns to the tv, but that doesn't stop him from practically laying on top of you. Occasionally he’ll sneak bites of your food, and you of his.
When you’re done, you clear away the empty containers, sitting any leftovers in the fridge. Gojo sprawls out on the couch. He easily takes up any bit of space. The couch can hardly fit all 6-foot-something of Gojo. It hardly fits you. You've been meaning to look for another one, but haven't found the time to.
He opens his arms, and instinctively you go into them. You move so you can rest partially against the arm of the couch, Gojo's head leaning against your shoulder. His arms loop around your waist, his fingers lacing over your stomach.
It doesn't take him long to begin to drift off. He falls asleep in the crook of your neck. The low sound of the tv, combined with the warmth of his body makes you want to drift off to sleep. Sleeping on the couch like this isn't very good for your (or his) back, but you don't want to move.
The next time your eyes open, some late night game show plays, disturbing your sleep with loud music. The clock on the wall reads some time past two. It's hard to read the minute hand. You gently shake Gojo awake. One of his eyes cracks open and he lets out a soft “hm?”
“Come to bed,” you say, your arms wrapping around his neck, “it's late.”
His eyes close, and for a moment you think he’s drifted back off to sleep, when his grip around you tightens, and he’s rolling over on top of you.
“I think I’ll stay here with you, mochi,” he says, planting a wet kiss to your neck. The feeling of his lips on your neck makes you shiver.
And though he doesn't move, there's a look in his eyes that tells you he has something planned. You only notice too late that his grip never loosens, and the mischievous glint to his eyes. You couldn't wiggle out of it if you wanted to. You're effectively trapped.
He litters your neck with kisses, sending you into a giggling fit, and he doesn't stop until you’re begging him to. Tears prick at the corners of your eyes from laughing. Your nails dig into your palms so hard they leave little crescent-shaped indents.
When you finally settle down, he’s pulling you into his arms bridal style, heading for your shared room. The bed is still unmade from this morning. Neither of you bothered to put it away. You were busy, and the thought slipped your mind.
Gojo shoves the covers aside, pulling you to lay on his chest. His fingers gently trace up the curve of your spine as he watches the steady rise and fall of your chest. Goosebumps prickle your exposed skin. He’s careful with how he touches you, loving, and soft. It's like he’s trying to memorize every inch of your body. His heartbeat is audible. Steady, and quet, acting as a lullaby. Your eyes shut, but you’re still awake. The intimacy of the moment doesn't go over your head.
He thinks he could die happy at this moment. Any moment, with you, really. Even during fights, or nights where he doesn't come home until long after you’ve fallen asleep, and you’re left irritated with his lack of time. As long as you’re by his side, he’s content.
He doesn't give much to the thought of settling down. His work will never let him. Neither does he think much about having any biological children. You practically have two already. Settling down isn't really an option for the strongest. This is the closest he’ll get to it.
For now, he just thinks about the park, and the blue sundress you always wear when you go.
Not many people can say they’ve changed who Satoru Gojo is as a person—let alone for the better—but you’ve changed him twice. Once in your meeting behind the school, and once again tonight. He’s found the one.
The first debt is always the hardest to pay back. But you've paid it in full.

You fool
Gojo Satoru x Fem reader
Angst
1.7k words
Masterlist!!!
“Do you Y/n, take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?” Your eyes glowed as you looked at the love your life standing in front of you. This feeling of elation was something you never thought of experiencing in the past but here you are, fueled by passion and love for the person made for you.
“I do.” Your voice echoed in the venue.
Gojo Satoru’s dazzling eyes burned on your form as he too was fueled with the same passion and love for only you. The both of you had been through so much together. And as his sight was fixated with the image of your eyes, he can’t help but have a trip down to memory lane.
La la la la
La la la la
La la la la la la ~
Gojo’s voice echoed the halls playfully as you walked down the makeshift aisle lined with a red carpet in one of the hotels you both went to. The sides were designed with white and pastel colors of cloth, dotted with pink roses and yellow daisies. No one was around the marriage booth exhibit so the both of you, being the wacky couple that you were, barged in and played pretend.
Although this wasn’t pretend for Gojo. He may be smiling as if he was about to share a joke but his heart was beating like crazy while he’s looking at you, walking to him, who’s standing in front of the printed altar. He was singing the Bridal Chorus but stopped as you made your way in front of him.
“You’re so damn beautiful, babe.” He whispered as he tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear.
He was delighted as you blushed dangerously at his words. After all these years, you were still affected by his charms.
“Y-you’re not bad yourself.” You stuttered.
He laughed loudly at how cute you were being. It amazed him at how comfortable you were in his presence now. In the past, you could barely look at him in the eye, let alone talk to him... but now look at you!
Your chuckles mixed with his in the silence. After catching your breath, your eyes scanned the vicinity before pulling one of his hands. “C’mon, Satoru. We have to go.”
You expected him to agree and walk away with you to another place but he held his place, a foreign smile formed on his lips. It was not the playful smirk you were so accustomed to seeing, but it was so sincere, so full of love that you stared at it for a while. His hands removed the blindfold that covered his eyes and you silently gasped at the sparkles in them as the light illuminated the magnificent pale blue orbs. Then, he encased your hands in his before he took a deep breath and said…
“I love you. I thank all the gods everyday because out of the billions of people they built, they led me to you. I’m so glad I found you.”
“I mean you have six eyes so…” You snorted, even though you felt electrifying tingles from your head all the way to the tips of your toes.
He laughed again and hissed. “Stop ruining the moment!”
“Okay, okay. Continue, my lord.” You bowed respectfully, playfully.
He chuckled once more and hooked your chin on his fingers. “This. The way you make me laugh, the way you make me this happy, it’s enough… more than enough for me to stay and fight for you. Sometimes I wonder if it ever is legal for someone to be so perfect. You understand all parts of myself that I don't even notice. When you look at me, you don’t see that all powerful being everyone is talking about. You see me… the real me.”
A sigh escaped his lips, his eyes gloss over his thoughts. “I can never let them take you away from me. They’ve taken so much already and I am not going to just stand here and lose you.”
“Satoru—“
You suddenly felt a pang in your chest and the rapid fatigue overcome your body. After all the fun and games, you two were still in hiding. Hiding from the world, hiding from his family, both of which would never see you as a worthy match for the most powerful sorcerer of all time. He was destined for someone greater, someone better, someone of another godly descent! They didn’t care if she wasn’t born yet or was still wandering the streets of the world, clueless of his existence, but they are sure as hell that it wouldn’t and can’t be someone like you. Over their dead bodies!
Sometimes you believed them. You let their words and judgments cloud your mind but before they can take over, his voice guides you out.
His grip tightened on your fingers, eyes finding yours and holding your gaze. “I will not lose you. You’re the only right thing in my world and I intend to keep you with me for as long as I shall live. You showed me the love I never thought I deserved. You showed me immense kindness that I never thought someone could possess. You made me believe in the good. You gave me a reason to live everyday with a purpose in my head. You keep me sane. Alive. Free.”
“Oh Satoru.” You smiled through your tears at his revelation.
“I’d choose to spend all my infinities with you. No pun intended.” He joked, even when there were tears brimming in his eyes.
“I’d gladly spend them with you too.” You whispered, marveling at the warmth of his hands, wiping the tears away, erasing all the pain of the past, of the judgments and hurt…
“Stay with me.” He whispered back but you hear the tone of desperation in his voice. He was no fool. He could see you cracking at all the comments of his family and strangers alike. He would always thank you for being strong and for holding on…
You sighed as his lips found yours. Warmth coursed through your veins as you felt his soft breath brush your face. This is what home felt like. Suddenly, his tongue darted out to lick your bottom lip, asking you to give him entrance to the warm interior. And you did. It was a desperate kiss of tongue and teeth clashing, of heavy breaths and tight grips. There were no inhibitions, no doubts. You both were so in love with each other, refusing to let one another go, refusing to leave each other’s sides…
But eventually, both of you faded. There were trying times, too much of trying times actually… and you two are but victims to emotions, and it came to a point where love just wasn’t enough. So you let each other go, breathe, and fly away.
“You may now kiss the bride.” The pastor announced.
Gojo had to look away from the sight of you landing your lips on another, other than his. He thought he was going to be alright when the both of you agreed to go on separate ways. He reasoned that you both needed to grow in your respective fields, to grow as a person. He deluded himself that you could only do this when you both were away from each other. And maybe after, you can both come back to each other's arms but he knew that was too much to ask.
He was the one who kept asking you to shun out the harsh words from everybody even though he knew how much pain you had to endure. Now, he can’t help but feel guilty as he was the one who got swallowed up by those judgments until it ate him whole. It was supposed to be you and him against the world but he turned against you too.
The pain in your eyes were unbearable when he said his goodbyes. What happened to his speeches about making you stay with him? What happened to his promise of protecting you from all the barriers that separated you from one another? What happened to his love for you?
“Gojo sensei.” Megumi called while patted his back. “Are you alright?”
Gojo pushed his dark- rimmed glasses to the bridge of his nose while displaying a playful smirk. “Of course! I’m so happy for her! Look at them! Such a lovely couple!”
His blood boiled at the sight of you. He preferred to be battling cursed spirits than to be in this damned wedding. But he had to see you. He had to see if you were alright. He had to see that you were truly happy without him.
-
“That should have been me, Megumi.” He whispered to the man beside him.
“You’re crazy, sensei.” Megumi scoffed.
He chuckled. “No, no, I’m serious! I was supposed to propose to her that day! Can you believe it?!"
“Sensei—“
“This ring…” Gojo’s fingers reached for his pocket where he fetched a dazzling, silver, and diamond band with both your names engraved in it. “...is supposed to be resting on her finger, not that trashy one the other bastard got her.”
He sighed. “I never knew why I postponed though. Live in the moment, my ass! I'll do it next time, my ass! I'll make it the grandest, my ass! Look where she is now!"
"Hush!" Megumi's hands flew to his babbling mouth that was shouting all of his regrets.
Gojo's body deflated at the millions of ways he could have done the proposal right even when it's now useless to think of. "Maybe I took her presence for granted. Maybe I thought that she would always be there. Maybe I thought she would never leave. Maybe I thought that she would want to spend all her infinities with me.” His voice faltered at the end as he heard your voice saying the same words.
His eyes closed shut, remembering the promises you made to each other. “She meant it though when she said that. And when she said she loved me. She was so ready to be with me, so ready to fight for me. I’m the fool for letting her go.”
Megumi’s eyes filled with concern for his teacher, much like an older brother. He has never seen him at this state, all weak to the knees.
“Say, Megumi- chan.” Gojo’s lopsided smirk appeared again but everybody knows he’s not in the mood for any jokes.
“Yeah?”
“Does she look genuinely happy?” He asked, staring into the void.
Megumi’s eyes trailed from Gojo to you, who was smiling dearly at your beloved husband as you shared a dance in this reception. Your eyes were visibly twinkling under the lights and you looked like you can’t see anybody but the person in front of you.
“Yes, she does.” He replied.
“Then, let’s go.” He smiled sadly before sighing defeatedly. The ring was again tucked in his pockets, hidden, never to be seen by you, worn by you, cherished by you.
As he walked out of the doors, he took one last glance at the love of his life.
“If I could, I’d carve all the roads of infinity to lead you back to me. Maybe by then, I could have a chance with you again. I love you, I always will.”
His footsteps led him away from the venue. Away from you. But his heart stayed in your presence and his mind repeated the same thing over and over again.
Gojo Satoru, you fool.

i. shun & y. soma dating hcs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n; are there any other food wars writers and can i PLEASE be friends with them 😔😔 the food wars x reader tag is so dry unless im posting :pepeHands:
anyways i hope you enjoy this! i went ham bc i love soma and shun so goddamn much
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yukihira soma
he's a little shit, a playful motherfucker
(if he confessed first) he will not let you live that down
(if you confessed first) he's salty about it bc he wants to be the "big brave man" and wanted to sweep you off your feet and not the other way around
you are a main victim to his disgusting creations
but you're also the first one to taste the heavenly creations
it's like a lose win - win win situation here.
unfortunately you have the loss but it's okay bc he makes it up to you
BE COMPETITIVE WITH HIM, HE LOVES THAT
he loves a snarky s/o, i can imagine
he likes someone that he wants to cook for but also wants to compete against
even if you lose to him, he finds the competition to be a good way to spend time with you
he also loves how angry you get if you lose sometimes
food is his love language, that and words of affirmation (no you can't change my mind about it)
like, yall you've seen how fucking excited he gets when his dad encourages him jsjdjsjsj
he certainly doesn't mind physical touch but words seem to get to him more despite how he can't read a room but it's okay we love him
i like to think he does get jealous but depends on the situation
like if there's some person he doesn't know trying to flirt, he's straight up wrapping his arms around you and dragging you away
he doesn't mind if people he knows interacts with you (in fact it's usually a bit between you and megumi, you often fluster her)
but when it's a stranger, it's on sight
he becomes a clingy bitch when he’s jealous pls give him attention
he gets excited talking about you to others, it's so cute :((
OH AND WHEN HE CALLS HIS DAD AND TELLS HIM ABOUT YOU, HE REALLY FUCKING LOVES YOU
his dad probably listening with a proud smile on his face as soma rambles about you
idk y but there would be those really funny moments, like you know the spongebob scene where mr krabs sells off spongebob for 62 cents?
yeah soma is mr krabs in that scene while he gets challenged to a shokugeki and puts you as reward
don’t worry though, he doesn’t do it (not often at least)
even when he does, he’s winning that damn shokugeki
once he wins, he looks up at you with that smug grin on his fucking face
but we all know he fought with his all and he would do it again if it meant that he could stay with you forever :]
Tumblr media
ibusaki shun
he’s a really chill boyfie
and we love him for that
(if he confessed first) he feels rly proud of himself that he got out of his shell and picked up the courage to talk to you
(if you confessed first) he’s pretty surprised that you did it first but he’s sort of happy that you did (though he would’ve still liked to confess first)
just like soma, you’re the first to get his creations
he doesn’t really look for anyone’s approval (mostly looks for critique than approval)
but when it comes to you, he just really wants to see you happy bc of his food
in public, it seems like shun doesn’t care for you often
but all his friends and you, all know how caring he is
he’s not open about it, he’s very quiet and subtle about it
he’s very observant, and he uses that to watch over you and take care of you
oh you said you were thirsty? he has a water bottle for you
oh you’re cold? boom, take his hoodie
oh you’re tired? he’s quietly offering you to sleep on his shoulder
in public, he’s not a pda person
but indoors, he shows his affections much more.
he just wants to make sure you know that he loves you :((
shun’s love language is gift giving, honestly i can see him making a playlist that reminds him of you
he really wants to just give you gifts and he’s all like “you deserve the world and i wish i could give you it” im skdjskjffkgj pls he’s so cute
no one can really tell if he gets jealous or not, except you
he’s a little possessive but that’s only bc he’s insecure
when you don’t give him enough attention, he’s like that small chicken with a small knife, *no talk im angy*
it’s okay though, you give him the attention he wants in the end
shun rambles to isshiki about you, no i do not take criticism
isshiki teasess him about it at first but he finds it really endearing when he notices how happy shun is when he talks about you
also he loves rambling to you !! pls he gets really happy when you ask him about something he likes to do
LIKE LET THIS BOY SPEAK MORE PLEASE- I LOVE HIM
i hc that he’s always quiet bc he’s more of a listener friend than a speaker friend but like bc of that no one really talks to him about the things he wants to talk about :(((
he would also fight for you with his entire life :]

Mountain part ii.
‹‹‹part i.
Megumi Fushiguro
Pairing: megumi /reader
Word count: 1.8k
+ summary: On a recovery mission of a cursed object you split into teams of two. You and Megumi get caught in the cross fire while looking for the object.
Genre: angst
Warning: slight cursing
Tumblr media
You watched as Megumi trekked through the dangerous mountains.
You pushed the button on the walkie-talkie, “How is it looking out there?”
“A little wet, rocky. How is it looking from your end.”
“It looks like a big stream of this blood-red cursed energy, with small branches veering off. Like veins on a leaf.”
“Which way is the stream going?” He asked looking at his dog, really looking at you.
“Keep going straight, up towards that hillside over there.”
“Of course a hillside.” He grumbled.
“Megumi you can take a break. The sun will be rising soon. I guarantee our counterparts are still sleeping like the dead.”
You thought you heard a chuckle on the walkie-talkie. “Let me know when you see something.”
“Over and out.” You said. “Your dad needs a sense of humor.” You commented as you patted the divine dog's head.
Megumi was going further and further up the mountainside. You noticed a slab of a stone 3 yards in front of him.
“Hey, Megumi can you walk towards that slab of stone to your right?”
“Copy.”
He and his partner walked over to the slab. There were strange symbols of a language on it.
“What do you think it means?” He asked.
“Not sure, looks familiar though. Can you dust off whatever is on it?”
You watched as his hand over the moss and dirt off the lettering.
“Any clue now?”
“No.” You sighed defeated. “But I know I know it. I do know this, there is a temple not far from here. Be vigilant.”
“Over and out.”
The text on the slab of rock seemed so familiar. Something you have read before in the past few months.
“Fushiguro I think I need to turn the connection off.”
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, just the text on that slab it’s bugging me. I have a few documents saved on my phone about old language, some of it pertaining to Sukuna.”
“Keep me on the radio then.”
“Stay put don’t advance forward. Promise?”
He laughed before responding, “I promise.”
You slowed down your breathing and closed your eyes.
After regaining your vision you radioed Fushiguro. “Connection is stopped.”
“Got it.” He responded.
You went to grab your phone, looking through all the files and photos of old sorcerer language and looking at the translations.
Megumi on the other hand was sitting on a rock. He was about 500 hundred feet from the temple.
“Megumi come look at these flowers!” He heard a familiar voice call out to him.
“Tsumiki?” He asked turning towards the temple.
“Come here they look just like the ones from the garden don’t you think?”
Megumi couldn’t help himself he was walking closer to the temple. His body had no control. He was possessed to see his sister.
You found the document and reading the translation.
“The Mountain of Ryomen Sukuna. Temple devoted to our savior. We pray to him and built him a temple, for our master.” You read aloud. “Shit! Megumi! Get out of there now! He knew the minute we came here! Megumi! Megumi Fushiguro Answer Me!”
There was nothing but silence on the other end. You tried to reconnect with the divine dogs. You saw Megumi at the temple standing there by a bunch of dead bushes. He looked entrance with the structure.
You stopped the connection again. You know you should be keeping eyes on him but you needed to reach the others.
It wasn’t the time to set off the flare guns but you know you have no choice.
You went outside to find a clearing and shot the gun twice. A minute in between each shot.
There was a response with a single flare shot. They were coming. They were close to the board between north and south.
You reconnected with the dog again. You saw the dog running towards Megumi. Growling at the air in front of the temple. You noticed out of the corner of the dog's eye that there were cursed spirits coming out of the corners. They were heading straight towards Megumi. The Dog tried to fight them off all at once to protect his master. Until you could see any more. The connection was gone. The dog was dead and soon Megumi will too.
You had to think fast. You could sit and wait for Kugisaki and Itadori and send the other dog to find Megumi. Or you could go find him and leave the dog to bring them to you and him.
You couldn’t do a lot on your own. As minutes prior prove neither can the dog on its own.
You needed to go together. You went to a tree and left a note for the pair. You grabbed the bloody shirt and gave it to the dog.
“Find Megumi.” The dog nodded and grabbed the shirt from your hands. He sniffed it and ran upwards the mountain. As you followed the dog you mark trees with a paint ball gun you got from your bag.
You saw Megumi sitting on the ground you could see a cursed spirit leeching on his chest. Smaller ones were waiting on the edge to get the scraps of Megumi.
“Alright boy, get the smaller ones. I handle the big one.”
You had stored some cursed tools in the bag. You had a long sword.
It was like this cursed spirit was obsessed with Megumi. Didn’t even bother to look at you or the divine dog. Even at the screams of the smaller ones in the mouth of the dog.
You sliced its bottom half off. It was like a worm. You grabbed its head carefully yanking it from Megumi’s chest. You held the head and stared at it angrily. You felt your insides boil. And with that, the cursed spirit melted in your hands.
You didn’t have time to think about that. You dropped to your knees picking up Megumi in your arms. That monster opened up his wounds.
“Megumi can you hear me?” You asked softly.
“Mmm. Tsumiki.” He groaned with his eyes still closed.
His sister.
“____! Fushiguro!” Itadori called out.
You turned your head towards him. “Come quick Fushiguro is hurt.”
Itadori came over and sat down. “Apply pressure to his chest like I’m doing. I’m going to recover the finger.”
You turned towards Itadori. “Yuuji has he been present with you?”
“Sukuna? Yeah, he was being rather annoying.”
“You rang my dear.” The small face appeared on his face. You slapped Yuuji across the face.
“___ what was that for?!”
“Delicious.” The Demon smiled licking the blood on Yuuji’s face.
“He knew! He knew this place when he saw it. This temple was built for him and he stored a finger here! Tell me where the finger is Sukuna?!” You said holding Yuuji by his collar.
“Gladly. There is a box buried under the bushes.” He said smugly.
“Where is Nobara?”
“She went to get us a quick away out of here. Which we are going to need.”
You sent the dog to dig up the finger. The dog licked the outside of the box. You got the box from him.
You opened it and saw the finger. You pocketed it in the bag.
It had been a week an half since you got back from the mountain.
Megumi was still in the hospital. You were very angry at him. He promised. Right now you were held up in your room. Going over files about cursed techniques.
You stared at your hands. How did you melt that spirit?
You had called your parents and they said they would look into it for you as well.
Megumi groaned waking up. The past few days have been painful both on his chest and his head.
His friends came by and sat with him. Everyone but you.
It was around the third day he started to get worried about you and if you were ok.
“She is really mad at you. She was doing training with Maki and Gojo, after getting cleared. She was so angry.”
“She kept going on how you promised. That sea urchin promised.” Nobara said.
“How do you know that was me?” He asked.
“Have you seen your hair?” She asked.
Megumi lightly touched his hair. But that wasn’t the problem, he knows he hurt the trust he built with you. “Where is she now?”
“Held up her room. Something weird happened. She melted the cursed spirit sucking on your chest with her hands.” Itadori said slurping on some noodles.
“I’ll see her later and apologize.”
“Do you even know why she is mad?” Itadori asked him. He shook his head now. “When I was hidden, she made me promise every time I left that I would come back in one piece. She used to do that with her older brother when he left on missions. The one time they didn’t make that promise-”
“I get it,” Megumi said
Megumi was about to knock on the door. But what if you turned him away. He decided to go inside and just try and talk to you.
He opened the door to see you with candles on your window, using them as a light source. While you were reading books and papers, all spread out on your bed.
“Don’t even bother knocking? You must have hit your head too.” You commented not even looking at him.
He decided to just clear his throat.
“What I don’t even get a response to that?” You said finally looking at him. He still stood there like a statue. You got up off the bed and walked over to him. “How could you? You promised me! You walked right over there after I specifically told you to hold back. That was a direct violation of my trust and our partner's ship. You went in there without any knowledge! Which if you even bother to know that place was made for Sukuna and he hid his finger there!” You pushed his shoulder. “Huh still got nothing to say!”
He tugged you into his chest and his head fell down on your shoulder.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know what I was doing.” You felt in his chest, the way he said it he meant two different things. “This doesn’t make up for your worry for me, but I didn’t have control of myself, I was possessed.”
You were silenced for a minute. “I’m sorry for making you promise it’s not fair to do to someone.”
“It is fine. Actually thought I was going to die and I had no control over myself. And I lost one of my shikgami and I thought I was going to lose you too.”
“I thought you didn’t care about saving people?”
“I do when I care about someone.”
You had decided with that statement to hugged Megumi back. “I care about you too. You should go back to the hospital and rest some more. Maybe if you are feeling up to it we can have a ceremony for the dog. I had him cremated for you he is in your room, in a wooden box.”
“That would be nice. Walk with me to the hospital room?”
You nodded and held his hand walking back to the hospital.

A Cursed Reality-JJK x M!Reader (Ch.2)
Question: Do you guys prefer longer chapters or shorter chapters? I’ve been making an effort to write longer chapters but if you hate reading them I’ll write them less.
Warnings: fluff, comparison of Inumaki’s speech to a disability/handicap, cursing. Dislike of Maki (Not me. wrong bitch. I love her)
Previous || Next
Chapter Two:
[Name] actively dislikes hanging out with the second years. Not that they’re bad people in any way, it’s just he’s anxious and awkward, and even after spending a year familiarizing himself with the school and the people in it, there’s like a small group of people he would invite to his birthday party.
That and he just doesn’t care for Maki Zen’in. And it is most definitely mutual. To him, she’s just pretty. She also won’t die in a battle between her and a curse below first grade. But that’s about the end of her appeal. Of course, Panda is fun to tease but he typically plays the peacemaker between the second years. [Name] would rather not care about people in peace.
There’s no dramatic reason to it all, it’s just [Name] didn’t really come to Jujutsu Tech by choice so he hadn’t intended on making friends. He obviously failed considering he befriended Inumaki within his first day and they have some homoromantic vibes going on in their friendship.
That’s not to say you can’t platonic cuddle with your best friend but when you longingly gaze into each other’s eyes and he’s the only friend you’ve made besides an annoyingly hyper 30-year-old because no one else understands you like he does… And it kind of goes both ways considering you’re the only person he trusts himself enough to have a full-on conversation with.
Yeah, it’s not looking very good for the argument that they’re not gay. They’re not though. At least not now.
“[Name]”
“Yeah toge?”
“You look like you’ve got something on your mind” Inumaki responded. And although he had plenty of experience saying words, having a conversation without using safe words felt a little weird. It was an aspect of who he was now and [Name] being immune to the cursed speech wouldn’t erase the problems he had with talking and it didn’t make [Name] his savior or soulmate.
Luckily [Name] was both lonely and not a complete asshole because he had no problems adapting to the switch between Toge’s ‘onigiri glossary’. Learning it was actually a really fun experience because it turns out Inumaki did not have the exact translation of all his safe words. He would just say an ingredient and [Name] had to fill in the blanks. There was a lot of trial and error and a lot of [Name] smiling down at Inumaki’s concentrated face.
“I was just thinking.” [Name] broke the contemplative silence.
“Hmm”
“You know” [Name] started again “... They say it was believed people kept their souls in their throats” and as Inumaki gave a confused denial (“fish flakes”) [Name] was internally panicking on whether or not he should keep going with this specific train of thought or make a joke to deflect from the very real and emotional but corny statement he was about to utter.
“Ah fuck it. I want to exercise the curses in the world or at least enough to keep you safe so you don’t keep damaging your soul when you use your cursed technique”
“Sujiko”
[Name] looked at Inumaki. And as if breaking off pieces of his soul didn’t matter to him, Inumaki spoke, a short sentence that stunned [Name] into silence
“I love you”
If Gojo hadn’t come in, they might’ve kissed.
“[Name]-kun!!!”
Aaaand [Name]’s sentimental mood was gone. Don’t get him wrong, Gojo definitely would get an invite to [Name]’s birthday party, but the man was like 30 running around being overly cheerful and with that teasing nature he was definitely repressing some trauma. He also definitely had some of the worst timing
“What is it Gojo?”
“No sensei at the end? So mean!
“Fushiguro was sent out to find a cursed object but he’s been out all day with no calls back home or anything. Of course I plan on going to check on my beloved student, but I am busy for the next hour or so. Can you please check on him? For your favorite sensei?”
“My favorite sensei is actually Nanami and he’s not even a sensei but yeah I’ll check on the emo kid”
‘You’re pretty emo yourself dude’ Gojo thought to himself
“Ah Thank you [Name]-kun. You’re a lifesaver” Gojo called out behind him as he left to do whatever it is crazy white haired ‘old’ men do.
‘He’s/I’m totally not doing this for free’ both [Name] and Inumaki thought at the same time.
[Name] got up suddenly and started getting ready to leave paying no attention to Inumaki who watched him get ready with a casual interest. Before [Name] headed out, he turned to look at Inumaki with a serious and concentrated expression.
“Toge.”
“I love you”
“What the hell happened here?”
“....”
“Fushiguro-kun, if you please”
“Well I only know half of the story so it’s best if we hear it from Itadori”
All eyes whipped to the shirtless Yuji who had just gotten control of his body back from Sukuna, the apparent king of curses.
“I’d say it started when I went to school this morning but I think it started a little earlier for Fushiguro. Right Fushiguro?” Yuji asked
‘I swear I’m going to explode if someone doesn’t tell me the how we got this far I mean Fushiguro is bleeding from his head, this pink haired enthusiastic kid is possessed and I can’t tell if he’s too sweet to care or if he lost a few of his brain cells when he and the little emo first year wrecked this building’ [Name] thought to himself.
Clearing his throat he began “Well okay Fushiguro has a lot of really bad injuries so is it okay with you if he just quickly shares his part and then you take over?”
“Ohh Yeah that makes sense” Itadori awed and both he and [Name] turned their attention to poor Megumi who was bleeding from his forehead.
“Yesterday I was sent to retrieve a special grade cursed object and when I got there it was gone. Gojo sensei told me I couldn’t go home until it was recovered. The next day I stalked around the school and investigated when I saw Yuji for the first time.”
“Oh I remember that. It’s my turn to take over now. Uhh. I was in the occult club with my senpais Sasaki and Iguchi and we were asking the spirits about which animal the Student Council President was weaker than ( a fish) and then he burst in the room because he didn’t approve of our club-”
“Fast forward please” [Name] interrupted
“Fushiguro found me after my grandpa died and told me Iguchi and Sasaki were in danger because of the finger so I led him to the school where they said they were going to peel off the seal”
“And that’s why we’re here” [Name] surmised
“So what’s the situation”
“Gojo-sensei”/ “Old Man what are you doing here?” Megumi and [Name] called out
“I wasn’t gonna come but the higher ups got involved. I knew you’d all be fine though, I sent [Name] here to deal with it.”
“That’s true” Fushiguo mumbled
“I’m glad you all have faith in me” [Name] started “But that means I came here for absolutely nothing”
“... So did you find it?” Gojo asked
“Um sorry.... I ate it”
Gojo who didn’t hear the whole introduction and [Name] who didn’t quite get to the eating of the finger part in the story turned to Yuji in shock
“For real”
“For real”
“Haha you’re not kidding. They’re combined. How does your body feel?” Gojo asked Yuji
“Okay”
“Can you switch to Sukuna?”
“Sukuna?” Yuji asked
“The curse object you ate”
“Oh yeah. Probably”
“Ten seconds” gojo said “Take control again after ten seconds”
“I dunno about this”
“Don’t worry. I’m the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer”
Megumi looked to [Name] after hearing a curious “hmm” but [Name]’s face showed no anger or displeasure.
“Megumi hold onto this will ya” Gojo’s voice bled through Megumi’s thoughts of who would win between [Name] and Gojo. Give it a year or two and it might actually be [Name].
“What’s this?” Megumi asked
‘It better be a fucking weapon’ [Name] thought ‘Because if he sent me out because his important business was shopping he’s gonna regret it’
“Kikufuku Mochi” Gojo replied casually before feeling bloodlust leaking from [Name]. He’ll just have to make it up to the second year somehow
“Behind you” Fushiguro called out and [Name] sucked his teeth hoping Gojo would get hit at least once. He did not get his wish once
“I’ve got a student watching so..I hope you don’t mind if I show off a little bit” . And after that Gojo commenced kicking Sukuna’s ass. Sukuna tried to monologue a little as he sent out a powerful attack, but he missed Gojo on account of Gojo’s infinity dispelling the attack. By the time Sukuna realized Gojo was unharmed it was time for Yuji to switch back.
“Oh was everything okay?” Yuji asked as he came to his senses.
“Oh what a surprise” Gojo responded “You really can control it”
“Yeah, but he’s kind of annoying”
“It’s a miracle that’s the only side effect” Gojo said right before knocking Yuji out with one finger
“If he wakes up and isn't possessed, he might have potential as a vessel. Okay question for you two. What do I do with him?”
“Even if he is a potential vessel… He must be executed under jujutsu regulations…
“But I don’t want to let him die”
“Is that a personal opinion? Gojo asked
“Yes, a personal opinion. Please do something about it.
Gojo smiled and the two of them turned their attention towards [Name] who had been silent throughout the whole experience.
‘Besides being a little too excitable, he’s not bad. Like a puppy. I’d keep him as a pet.’ [Name] thought
“Don’t kill him” he said
“A precious student's request. And one from my favorite second year? Of course. Leave it to me!” Gojo said before lifting Yuji up.
[Name] still a little upset he was called away for nothing, raised his hand in front of his mouth so gojo couldn’t see what he was doing and whispered
“Fall over”
“Aak! [Name]-kunnn”
Fushiguro was shocked to see Gojo faceplant on the ground with Yuji on his shoulder. If the combination of Fushiguro’s wide eyed expression and the sight of Gojo in pain made [Name] giggle a little, he’d never admit it.

Yuji vs Megumi: Round 2
Tumblr media
The literal inciting incident of the manga is what starts the conflict between Yuji and Megumi. Yuji recklessly chooses to sacrifice himself without thinking of the consequences in an attempt to save Megumi, and Megumi is unable to stop Yuji and thus feels guilty for letting him get possessed by Sukuna. This conflict has continued throughout the manga with both boys wanting to save the other but falling into conflict instead. Chapter 119 analysis of Jujutsu Kaisen under the cut.
1. Saving People vs. Saving Yuji
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s always been a large difference in the way both Yuji and Megumi save people. Yuji wants to save everybody regardless of the cirucmstances. Megumi is mindful of the circumstances, and because of that he holds himself back from acting when he can.
This difference is what leads to the first conflict. Yuji swallows the finger and sacrifices himself, and Megumi isn’t able to stop him in time. Ever since that day the two of them have had two different goals. Yuji wants to selflessly sacrifice his body for everyone after he’s ate all 20 fingers of Sukuna, and Megumi wants to selfishly save Yuji from his predicament because he feels responsible for letting Yuji eat the finger in the first place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yuji believes that eating Sukuna’s fingers is a completely selfless gesture, and that by doing this and eventually choosing to die he will be helping more people. Megumi believes that protecting Yuji is his responsibility and he’ll be saving someone even if it goes against Jujutsu Regulations. They both cling onto a simple, heroic notion of saving people only for it to later get deconstructed for both of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Megumi and Yuji’s first confrntation is in the Fearsome Womb arc. We see that Megumi’s not as altruistic as he appears to be. He sees a crying mother begging to see if her son is alright, and then says that same son isn’t worth saving while he’s alive because he committed a crime in the past.
This gives us a more complex picture of saving people. Megumi is saying that people he personally deems as bad aren’t worth saving. Megumi doesn’t know if the man was sorry for what he did, or if he was trying to do better. He was simply judging him from black and white standards of bad or good. At this point before his confrontation with Yuji he’s seeing a crimminal, and not a person. Despite the fact that that person has done bad things, they are still a human being with people who care about him, the same way Megumi has loved ones. However, Megumi very, very selectively chooses who he empathizes with and who he sees as human based upon standards of good or bad. He’s lawful. He purposefully tries to hold himself back and obey laws because he craves that kind of order and justice.
Tumblr media
Megumi may not be right to approach saving people in such a black and white manner by dividing them into good and bad, but he does make a point that the act of saving people is messy. Basically, everything you make is a choice. The choice to save someone, or not save someone is also a choice. When you save them, that choice is going to have consequences. You are responsible for the consequences of your actions, both intended and unintended. What Megumi is saying is that the world is messy, and good intentions, or even good actions won’t always result in good results but you’re still responsible regardless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Megumi very very selectively chooses who to save. He thinks if he’s careful with his choices, he can control the results more. However, the real reasult of his actions is that he’s always holding himself back, as Gojou and Sukuna have both pointed out. Megumi could have fought off a single finger cursed womb but chose not to, because he doesn’t want to take agency for himself.
Tumblr media
He’s too afraid of the unintended consequences of his actions that it makes him hesitant to act. Whereas Yuji ignores the unintended consequences of his actions and rushes right in, and makes sloppy mistakes. This is a flaw that the two of them when working together can overcome, but it’s hard for them to work together.
In the Origin of Obedience Arc which is the first arc where Yuji and Megumi fight together again after Yuji’s “Death”, this idea that who’s to say someone you save won’t kill someone in the future? comes back again.
Tumblr media
Yuji believes his action in consuming the fingers will save people. However, there are both intended and unintended consequences of his actions. Yuji’s choice to eat in the finger has the unintended consequence of triggering other curses elsewhere. People got hurt because of his decision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yuji and Megumi both come to this revelation. However, rather than talk about it they also make a deliberate choice to hide this information from each other in the name of protecting each other from it. This is the only way that Yuji and Megumi know how to protect each other, not with open communication and cooperation, but with lying to each other, and each of them deciding to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Yuji and Megumi confront each other, and are forced to fight they come to personal revelations about themselves and develop their ideas. Megumi realized he wanted to save Yuji because of his own selfishness, he’s not someone who acts entirely lawful in every situation. Yuji realized he was afraid of dying, but wished for Megumi to have a long life.
The manga isn’t suggesting that Yuji is entirely to blame for the people who get killed by Sukuna and the cursed spirits, it’s just saying the situation is more complex than either Megumi or Yuji thought it was. There will always be both intended and unintended consequences of Yuji’s actions, even if he only has good intentions, and he ahs to grapple with both. However, both Megumi and Yuji chose not to face that fact at this point in time.
Tumblr media
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga that questions the heroic notions of saving people, and being saved. It is always more complicated, and difficult that it appears to be. Gojou can’t save people even though he’s the strongest. Megumi can’t always follow the rules. Yuji can’t save people with good intentions alone.
Yuji and Megumi tend to be avoidant of this complicated reality, rather than face it head on. Yuji wants to believe that saving people is a matter of being strong enough. Megumi wants to believe that saving people is a matter of being careful and following rules, and they’re both wrong. They also have difficulty facing each other which is why the next time we see them fight together they can barely cooperate.
Tumblr media
Yuji and Megumi are two people who just want to help each other, but instead they end up just as often fighting against one another. Before Yuji and Megumi decide to split up, they both make a promise. They are not allowed to die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember Yuji and Megumi are always trying to save each other. That’s what lies at the heart of their conflict, they just have wildly different methods of saving each other. However, we see in the later chapters both Megumi and Yuji break their promise to each other when they’re alone and split up.
Yuji makes a choice. To die fighting against Choso.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again this has everything in common with his choice to eat the fingers. He thinks his death will help both Gojou-sensei, and his upper classmen. His good intention is to sacrifice himself for the sake of everyone. If he just takes down Choso with him, then he’ll be able to do something good for everybody even with his death.
However, once again it’s not that simple. Yuji had other choices. He could have run away. Even in the limited choices he had available because Choso got a few lucky shots in and Yuji wasn’t able to overcome him with strength alone he could have tried to survive. His choice was to accept his death, and his attempt at self sacrifice had an unintended consequence.
Tumblr media
Yuji’s unconscious body was fed the fingers. Because Yuji chose to die, he had the unintended consequence of having Sukuna take over his body and rampage.
Megumi makes the same choice to try to sacrifice himself as well. He even says the same thing to Yuji, an apology for choosing to die first even though he promised he wouldn’t die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again, Megumi’s intention was to sacrifice himself to defeat a single opponent hoping that this would contribute to helping everybody else. However, not only does this not happen, but Megumi also contributes to Sukuna’s rampage.
Tumblr media
Sukuna went all out and used his Territorial Expansion, because Megumi summoned Mahoraga for him to fight. Megumi chose to sacrifice himself. Yuji chose to sacrifice himself. However, instead of saving others, innocent people were slaughtered by Sukuna.
They are not entirely responsible for Sukuna’s actions of course, but now at this point of the manga people have died, as a result of Megumi, and Yuji’s actions.
Tumblr media
That’s why Yuji is making such a pained face in the last panel of chapter 119. He knows now what Sukuna said in the origin of obedience arc is true. Him letting Sukuna rampage has killed innocent people at this point. Megumi’s decision to spare Yuji instead of giving him immediate execution has killed innocent people. You ate me... to help, to help many people right? You brat, because of you people will die.

THE SMELL OF BLOOD would make some people gag. But you—sitting complacently in the small, cramped room offered to you by the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College’s higher ups, the only thing they would even deem appropriate to allow you to own—were used to the faint tang of iron, the putrid odor of someone’s bowels spilling out of their body through a horizontal gash between their hips.
It was a regular occurrence, or at least a daily chore, that you had to clean blood out of the tatami mats and replace the shoji doors entirely. Most of your tiny allowance, collected from the bodies of the assassins who had been paid to kill you, was enough to pay for it, but sometimes you had to wonder if it was just as much a chore for the janitors to make the bodies vanish as it was for you to try to get blood out of tatami mats—which was hilariously difficult.
Staring at the decapitated head lying at your knees, you dodged a spurt of arterial spray coming from the stump of the neck, following the trajectory with your eyes and internally withering away as it struck at yet another set of shoji doors, rendering you up to two sets you would be replacing in the next couple of days. Masamichi Yaga would be disappointed in you; at least, you figured he would be. It wasn’t as if he was paying you many visits lately, not with the way your Curse was acting up lately.
Ama-no-Kagaseo slumbered away peacefully in your arms. Held by a sash wrapped around your shoulders and back with Shinto charms woven into the very seams, he was virtually hidden from sight so only you could see the small, chubby face within, and the wisps of pale hair curling at his forehead. He looked almost innocent like this, if you could just ignore the body bleeding before your kneeling form and the way an invisible breeze brushed hair away from your ear to whisper an unintelligible term of affection, as if you were oblivious to his presence.
“Another body, [Name]-san?”
The gentle touch at the back of your neck vanished. You looked over to the now opened shoji door to see your teacher—over qualified executioner, you liked to call her—Fujiwara, Sayaka standing at the threshold. She wore the typical black uniform of the college, personalized into a sleek and form fitting pant suit embellished with charms and cleverly woven Jujutsu spells to shield her from Ama-no-Kagaseo’s temper. While you had never told her they wouldn’t do any good, as he had tore through higher grade spells like paper before, she seemed to be aware of the constant danger she was in by just being around you or in your personal space. Sayaka was sketchy and dodgy at best, but she could match Gojo, Satoru on a bad day, so you trusted in her power at least only marginally. Your fondness for the woman was probably the only thing keeping her alive.
“Yes.” The carefully crafted speech of the Shiraishi clan was something Sayaka hated and you used as a security blanket. The elders couldn’t say anything if you were polite, respectful, and kept Ama-no-Kagaseo on a leash; which was foolish, you’d wanted to tell them, because the malevolent god was not above overpowering you and waking from his sleep if he so wanted. “This would be the sixth one this month. Do they ever run out of bodies to slaughter?”
“I’m afraid not.” The woman’s pale pink hair shone in the sunlight peeking through the broken roof that the assassin had launched himself through. It had been a comical sight; you’d even dropped your green tea in shock, even though you shouldn’t have been surprised with how often it happened. “Well, you can’t stay here—not now, anyways. I’ve been given new orders to secure your lodging on the college campus, effective immediately.”
You raised an eyebrow. You had never been allowed to set foot on the campus ever since you’d taken your position as Ama-no-Kagaseo’s vessel. You vaguely remembered the people there—Fushiguro, Megumi and Panda to name two—and what it looked like, though it had been so long that you wondered what they looked like now. They had been young, like you, when you met them, Panda being an adorable presence that had raised your spirits if only for a little while. Ama-no-Kagaseo was considered a threat to all life and, as such, you had to keep away from the main populace of Jujutsu sorcerers for their safety… or the higher up’s whims. So to hear you were going there, immediately, without question, raised a few red flags for you.
“What’s going on?” You asked, though the demand in your voice was clear. It was something you had picked up from Ama-no-Kagaseo when he had first started speaking to you through your linked souls. Sayaka always seemed unnerved when you demanded something of her, as if seeing something you couldn’t, not that you would be surprised if she could. She’d seen a manifestation of Ama-no-Kagaseo’s essence around you more than once and nearly lost her eye for it; the scar running lengthwise down her face was proof of it. “You know as well as I do that they would never let me set foot on those grounds unless something more important than keeping Ama-no-Kagaseo sealed came up.”
Sayaka squinted at something over your shoulder right as you felt the jade pins in your hair tinkle like windchimes. “He’s here, isn’t he?”
You offered her a sheepish smile. Ama-no-Kagaseo was fond of getting on every single one of Sayaka’s nerves through you, since you wouldn’t let him kill her without shunning him entirely. It was an unusually innocent form of torture for him, one you never took for granted. That didn’t mean that she understood exactly how lucky she was that he didn’t resort to his more cruel methods of torture.
“He’s been calm today,” you said in lieu of reassuring her. You deliberately left out the fact that he was more occupied with playing with the anklet around your sock clad ankle, a Shiraishi family heirloom that hadn’t been worn since Ama-no-Kagaseo had been sealed. The malevolent energy it gave off was distinctly Ama-no-Kagaseo’s and you doubted any of the other women before you had been comfortable wearing it. “You’ll be okay for today.”
“Like that’s supposed to be reassuring,” she scoffed. You had to begrudgingly agree; he had been calm the day he’d given her that scar, although the incident leading up to it had been… extenuating, to say the least. She eyed the still form of his human body in your arms and then looked away. “How far does his domain extend now?”
You recognized the question for what it was: a distraction. Clearly whatever was going on was something you weren’t privy to, or were ever going to be privy to. You pressed your lips together and Ama-no-Kagaseo stopped playing with your anklet to swipe an invisible finger over your mouth, unpleased with your dour expression. You attempted to relax your facial muscles ever so slightly and that seemed to satiate him, because he went back to fiddling with the charms on your anklet. If Sayaka noticed, she didn’t say anything.
“It’s extended.” You adjusted the sash around your shoulders uncomfortably. Ama-no-Kagaseo’s domain was not something you wanted to talk about; Sayaka reported everything to the higher ups, and as a consequence, what little freedom you had was suppressed with every little progression that Ama-no-Kagaseo’s domain made towards more leeway. You had a feeling that he repressed his malicious urges for your sake, but you couldn’t be entirely sure—he never spoke in entire sentences, just fragments of words and quiet terms of endearment. “I think maybe a few feet. I’m not sure.”
It was more like another mile, rolling his total up to two miles, but you kept that part to yourself. Sayaka seemed to accept your answer, still eyeing the space that the Curse was occupying beside you, and then looked at your kimono like she always did. It wasn’t as if it was exactly normal.
When you had gained Ama-no-Kagaseo’s trust—or affection?—your wardrobe had been sliced to ribbons and replaced with shimmering kimonos of the highest quality silk, imbued with Ama-no-Kagaseo’s Curse energy and embroidered with his personal sigil. You had been distraught over your lost possessions, many of them belonging to your mother, the former vessel before you, but you had grown to appreciate the garments for their beauty and comfort. The silk seemed to have a permanent projection of the night sky upon it so that when you moved, the stars would shift as if in a time lapse recording. Ama-no-Kagaseo only let you remove it when you went to bathe or got ready for bed. By the time you were awake and moving out of bed, the kimono—sometimes a variant with thicker layers or thinner ones—was already wrapped around your body again as if it had never left in the first place.
“I’m guessing you won’t be allowed to wear the uniform,” she sighed, indicating that you’d need to blend in for whatever it was that was going on. “Damn. Okay, well, we can work on that later. Right now we need to get you packed and moving before—”
“Kelp.”
You hadn’t noticed the new presence at the door, or even within Ama-no-Kagaseo’s domain. Your eyes darted to the door, instinctively bristling as if an assassin was awaiting you, and all at once, you felt the temperature in the room—once a comfortable sixty-five degrees—drop significantly. Sayaka’s eyes widened and almost a second too late, she shoved the white haired male to the floor. A fraction of a second later a harsh gust of wind blew the wall behind his head out, the roof slumping down and crumbling into a pile of debris.
“Inumaki-san!” Sayaka growled, gritting her teeth in frustration. She got to her feet and when she was sure that Ama-no-Kagaseo’s curse energy wasn’t fluctuating for another hit, she pulled the male to his feet. He seemed a little shell shocked, or at the very least surprised, and his dark gaze drifted to you in minute curiosity. “Didn’t I tell you not to come in until I explained everything?”
“Salmon. Mustard Leaf.”
What? You fluttered your eyes open and shut in disbelief. Was he talking in… ingredients?
“Of course. I guess I should have expected that.” Sayaka rubbed her face and crossed her arms. Then she looked at you. “Shiraishi-san, this is Inumaki Toge, a second year student. Inumaki-san, this is Shiraishi [Name]. She’ll be on campus for the foreseeable future.”
“Nice to meet you,” you replied, feeling Ama-no-Kagaseo’s hostility dwindle with your calming heart rate.
“Kelp.” He bowed his head slightly, but for the most part remained straight and standing. That allowed Ama-no-Kagaseo to calm down completely and you had to wonder why, but your attention was quickly ripped away when Sayaka spoke again.
“He’ll be standing in for me when I am unable to attend to you.”
This was news—frankly shocking news, if you were being honest—to you. Sayaka had not left your side since you were ten. She had to be in her early thirties, your latest estimate may be in her forties, not that she would tell you. She saw any personal information as a weapon to be used against her by Ama-no-Kagaseo. She was adamant that it had nothing to do with you, personally, but the Curse who you carried against your chest as if he were your own child. You admitted it was a smart thing to do, but you also knew deep within your heart that if Ama-no-Kagaseo wanted to hurt her, he wouldn’t need her life history to do it.
“What do you mean?” You inquired, phrasing it as delicately as you could without appearing you were about to fly into a murderous rage. Sayaka was your only friend—not that she’d even let you call her that—in the entire world. You considered Ama-no-Kagaseo a protector, in a convoluted way, and a companion, since he would be with you until the day you died. You couldn’t call anyone else a friend in the way you could her.
Sayaka almost looked uncertain about telling you. She looked to Inumaki for confirmation and he shrugged, indicating the decision was up to her. You watched the interaction with keen eyes, noting the slight familiarity and the way Inumaki was deferring to her with his body language. Clearly he knew something you didn’t, something he shared with Sayaka. Before she opened her mouth, she waved for him to leave the room; obviously she was concerned whatever she was about to say would earn him another blow from Ama-no-Kagaseo.
“Long story short—Ryoumen Sukuna has been incarnated into this era.”
Bound to Ama-no-Kagaseo as you were, you were as in tune to his ‘emotions’ as he was yours. So when Sayaka let that little piece of information hang in the air like a guillotine ready to drop, you felt Ama-no-Kagaseo’s rage bubble up inside you like a potent poison. It was all consuming, hateful, and everything you dreaded when he got truly furious because once he was angry, and you panicked because he would—
And you were gone, taking a backseat in your own conscious. Ama-no-Kagaseo was too infuriated to apologize to you properly, barely managing to even sweep an illusory breeze across your cheek before taking control of your body. You knew he wasn’t angry with you, but this man Ryoumen Sukuna who he seemed to know well that he was beside himself.
Ama-no-Kagaseo had dressed up your shared consciousness to resemble something of a palace of stars and a night sky. The few times he did take control of your body (usually to stop you from tumbling over cliff edges, falling out of trees, or skinning your knees) you were granted access to this mysterious place, and yet it seemed you had a permanent residence despite only being present for a few times. You had a little mat seated beside his at a table; your favorite flowers were littered around the metaphorical palace in porcelain vases; you even had a closet full of star studded kimonos, which was where you assumed he got all of the kimonos he manifested upon your person now.
You appeared upon his throne, which was bizarre since you usually wound up somewhere near the entrance to wait for him to escort you back to your body, a pale metal contraption adorned with blue, green, and purple gems and silk that was smooth and silky to the touch. Since he stayed here often, he had made it comfortable; you had only seen his personal representation of his physical appearance once, and you had been so flustered that you immediately hid your face in your sleeves while he laughed in amusement. Besides that one time, you had only ever seen it in paintings, which were much different than the real—metaphysical?—thing. Ama-no-Kagaseo abhorred earth and for the limited time he was willingly present within it, he was usually only there for you.
A bright blue orb appeared in your lap, hovering just above your legs. You grasped it, worried it would fall and shatter, and found yourself staring through your own eyes at Sayaka.
Her face was contorted into panic and sheer terror. You knew that your appearance changed when he took control—your eyes completely blacked over from corner to corner and appeared as if they had stars in them, and two delicate dark blue dots appeared beneath your eyes to signify your soul and his—but you were curious what you actually looked like. You couldn’t be that terrifying, could you?
“Ama-no-Kagaseo.” Sayaka’s voice was strained. “Where is [Name]?”
That was the first time you’d ever heard her say your name without honorifics. Your surprise must have been evident, because Ama-no-Kagaseo allowed a brief flicker of wind to run down your neck. It was chilly, indicative of his anger, and you pulled your kimono closer around you as if it would help.
“She is present.” That was also the first time you’d ever heard him speak more than a single word. “I am allowing her to watch to reassure her I will not harm you in my anger.”
You would have been dying at his usage of full sentences if you weren’t so worried about Sayaka doing something foolish. You knew she would report this to the higher ups, but you had a feeling this intentional. Ama-no-Kagaseo picked up on your thoughts as well and agreed, gently tugging a jade pin out of your hair. The physical version of you was untouched, but you lost the pin in the metaphysical world.
“I see.” Sayaka carefully sat down, locking her knees and tucking her feet underneath herself. It was the complete opposite of the one she took when you were around. “I’m sure you heard, but—”
“Yes,” Ama-no-Kagaseo interrupted her, using your hand to pick up your discarded cup of green tea. “Ryoumen Sukuna. It has been over a thousand years since I’ve heard that name.”
Sayaka ignored the cup. “I am aware that he played a vital role in sealing you to this realm.”
That was news to you—you seemed to be discovering new things at every turn of the corner. You furrowed your eyebrows and brought your knees up to your chin, watching the globe more intently.
“Not Sukuna himself,” Ama-no-Kagaseo sneered. In your voice, it was a strange thing to hear. “His followers. But he was the indirect cause, so I am attributing the fault to him since I strung their corpses upon his precious temple.”
You could tell that Sayaka found his logic extremely concerning by the twitch in her cheek. A stream of sweat crept down her temple.
“You can’t kill him.”
“And why not?” Ama-no-Kagaseo’s tone went frosty. You watched a shudder roll over Sayaka’s shoulders. “Do not presume to tell me what to do, mortal.”
“He will keep coming back.” Sayaka backpedalled, clenching her fists. “We don’t have all twenty fingers. His host, Itadori Yuuji, is too good of a chance to pass up—if we can get him to intake all of them—”
“You can raze Sukuna from this earth and get rid of him for good.” Ama-no-Kagaseo inferred. “Except it will not be that easy.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Ama-no-Kagaseo didn’t answer her. You felt a telltale pull of your lips and were slowly pulled back into your own body.
“I bore of you,” he said, after a moment, and then allowed you control once more, the darkness bleeding away from your eyes.
You felt him settle into a doze within your consciousness and simultaneously found yourself staring at Sayaka. When you smiled at her in apology, she collapsed back and blew out a harsh breath.
“For a minute there I thought he was going to kill me,” she sighed, then sat up and fixed you with a glower. “You didn’t tell me you could see when he takes control.”
You shook your head and raised a hand, keeping the other firmly rooted against Ama-no-Kagaseo’s physical form’s back. “This is the first time I was able to. I didn’t even know I could.”
Sayaka narrowed her eyes and then looked away, seemingly in thought. “Well, I guess there’s no use in telling the higher ups right now. They have bigger fish to fry at the moment. And it’s not like we didn’t know all of that about Sukuna… Ugh. This is giving me a headache.”
“Me too,” you sighed, unnervingly aware of the way Ama-no-Kagaseo’s fingers were following the collar of your kimono, deceptively docile compared to moments before. He had decided to give up on his nap after all. “So, when do we go to the campus?”
“Right now. Pack up your stuff and meet Inumaki and I outside.”
When Sayaka left the room, you carefully began putting back your tea pot in its box and wandering to find something suitable to put your clothes in. You found a cloth bag, blank except for a few flowers embroidered on it by hand, and had just enough room to pile on your box of jewelry—all of it Cursed with Ama-no-Kagaseo’s energy—on the top. You didn’t have a lot of belongings because of the higher ups, but what you did have you treasured greatly; your favorite piece was an elaborate diadem of foreign make, decorated with diamonds and crystals that were made to turn into weapons if you willed it. You tucked it safely beneath two of your kimonos and found a ring lying on your nightstand where there hadn’t been one before.
You walked over to it, drawn by Ama-no-Kagaseo’s familiar energy. The jewel glimmered with power and visibly made the air around it ripple; you picked it up and found it warm to the touch.
“Protect. Sukuna.” He was back to one or two words again. You were almost disappointed but went back to examining the ring, wondering what finger to put it on. You eventually decided on your ring finger and it was a snug fit, as if it had been made with exactly that finger in mind.
“Thank you, Ama-no-Kagaseo.”
An affectionate ruffle of your hair was all you got in return.

“Itadori!” you yell, panting, cupping your hands together around your mouth to amplify your voice. He had asked you prior to meet with you for Valentines in this particular park, most likely because it was Valentines day.        You had to admit, his selection in nice places was clearly defined. The views from the hill you and him sat upon was spectacular, you could see the city in it’s whole. This was amplified with the setting of the sun, a hazy beautiful orangey-yellow gradient was all the eye could see from up here.       It was definitely worth the walk up the steep hill, and you took a much needed seat and breather on the painted wooden bench, pulling out your water bottle you take a long swig, wiping the sweat off your brow as you did so.       You took a quick sneak peek at Yuuji, who was humming a tune, earbuds in. Shielding your eyes with your hand, you leaned closer into his shoulder. His thumbs were fumbling with something, which you now realized was a Nintendo Switch.       “Watcha playing?” you ask, breathing in his scent. Remnants of candy and baked goods filled your nose.        Yuuji didn’t say anything back, instead continuing to hum and mumble a few lyrics, lost in his own world.       It was only until you impatiently tapped at his broad shoulders to pay attention to you. He jolted up, looking left and right before finally realizing you were sitting next to him. Taking a deep breath in, he cheerfully smiled before taking one of his earbuds out.       “Hey! You came early~ are you excited to see me?” he questioned, setting his Nintendo Switch into his backpack before picking up what seemed to be a bag right next to him.      “Of course! Why wouldn’t I be, baby?” you reply back, grinning, deciding to pay no mind towards this bag. Yuuji was quite popular, especially revolving sports or something along the lines of that. Many famous coaches had said that he possessed super-human strength, and he had been showered in contracts with sport teams not long after those few words.       In return, this caused Yuuji to be insanely busy with many interviews and pelted with multiple adult-y stuff to do, which had hurt you exceptionally. It greatly hindered the relationship between you two. Weekly visits turned into monthly, and you couldn’t bare to see him drown in all his work. He was a busy guy, but yet always so carefree, and you didn’t want that carefree childish aspect of him to disappear. After all, that was something you loved about Yuuji.       He looked up at you with a reassuring beam, and you felt yourself melt under those warm eyes. “Aww, that makes me happy, (Y/N). Scratch that, you make me happy!” facing you, he gave you a quick peck on your cheek. Your heart bursts, it had been too long since you felt that specific thing, and you give him a gentle kiss back, running a hand through his fluffy hair.       “I missed you. It’s been too long since I’ve talked to you, lovebug. Schedule is jampacked. But I met some nice friends along the way, and my coach is super nice!” he rambled on, fumbling with the handles of this mysterious bag.       “Oh? How so?” trying to make conversation, you want to appear as interested as he talked about his coach, but you were focused on his outfit and how he looked in general.        He had gotten way more stronger, you noted. He was much more scrawnier when you two first started dating, and you wondered how his cuddles might feel like. Something that didn’t change though, was his horrible fashion sense. Wearing a turquoise t-shirt with a lemon yellow jacket over it, you almost winced. Yuuji dressed like a 6th grader who had their mom pick out clothes for them.        “...And he annoys the absolute shit out of his co-worker, Utahime. It’s funny! I also met this guy named Nanami and I have no idea how my coach and Nanami are friends. Nanami always looks like he’s on the verge of murdering him whenever he opens his mouth to speak! Oh and also me and my coach made Valentine cards together and I worked really hard on it and I just know you’ll like it! Also-”       “Alright, alright. That’s a mouthful.” you sang sarcastically, Yuuji awkwardly laughed and rubbed his hand against the back of his neck, looking at you like you had caught him stealing a cookie out of a jar at 12 AM.       “Sorry. I get carried away a lot.” he says, peering into the bottomless pit inside the bag. You couldn’t quite see what was inside of it.       “No, no. I think it’s cute, Yuuji-san! I didn’t forget how you acted in the span of 1 month, why would I be dating you if I thought you were annoying?” hoping this’ll knock some sense into him, you closely examine his body language for any changes, hoping that went through his mind.       You had to make sure, the guy was dumb when it came to social cues.       “Ohh, really?” he looked up, pointer finger on his chin, a confused expression covering his features. “I didn’t know, I’ll act more annoying for you then!”       Smacking your forehead, you studied your shoes, too giggly to look at him eye-to-eye. “That’s not what I meant, idiot.”       “...What did you mean then?” Yuuji quizzed, tilting his head to the side. You really couldn’t tell if he was joking or not, you’d think that all sport players would be brutes and be masculine and perhaps... Not stupid? But here you were.       “No bother.” waving your hand as a dismissal of the conversation, you instead lean towards the bag he was holding, fluttering your eyelashes. “What’s this?”       “It’s a surprise~” he responded, obviously giddy. You felt yourself soften once more, how could someone be so cute just answering a question?        “Hey, come on!” tugging on his arm, you try to yank the bag away, curiosity killing you. His grasp was firm, and he laughed as you did so, it felt good to hear him laugh like that again.         “Okay, okay! Fine. Here, go at it.” handing you the bag, you practically ripped the handles off, ecstatic to see what could possibly be waiting to be discovered.          Inside was an incredibly large teddy bear, soft. The color was almost exactly the same shade of Yuuji’s, and you squeal, hugging the plush.          “Awww! This is so cute! I woulda never believed you’re smart enough to get a good gift for me!” you joked, he caught the sarcasm this time, giving you a confident grin. He liked the compliments.          “It’s supposed to be me.” placing a hand onto his chest dramatically. “I don’t know if you realized though.”          Scoffing, you put the teddybear to the side. “Of course I’d realize! I’m not dumb, Yuuji-san!”          “Why not? We could be dumb together! Also, there’s something extra at the very bottom that I think you’d like.”          Blinking, you realized that you had completely forgotten about the bag between your legs. Looking back down and rummaging for what possibly could be there, you pull out a card.          On the front, there’s a tacky lopsided heart, made with glitter glue. It seems there are also many failed attempts of starting this large heart at the sides of it. At the top, there’s a large, “Happy Valentines Day!” in red marker that was also uneven. Underneath the heart? A stick figure drawing of you and Yuuji, which was also... Pretty horrible.         Stifling a giggle, you open the card, eyes scanning the left for anything, you turn to face the right as soon as you deem it clear. That’s where the writing is.         Dear Y/N,          I love you very much and I know I do not spend that much time with you anymore but you still make me very happy. My coach was very nice and gave me Valentines day off because he felt bad.      I had to run to the nearest drugstore to get you this teddybear, but me and Mr. Coach decorated this together! He says he’s a very good drawer and I agree. I think the drawing is very detailed. He also helped me with the heart (we picked out the color together) and we had a lot of fun decorating. He says my handwriting looks really bad (is that true?) can you please help me fix it later? :(                                                                           With a lot of love,                                                                              Your Boyfriend and Gojo Satoru (his cool coach that helped him write this, thank me later. I have no idea how you handle this guy, but God is he such an amazing kid.)      Looking back up from the card, you look at Yuuji, who is looking at you back, squeamish. Without another thought, you kiss him, soft and light ones on his forehead, his cheeks, his lips, everywhere on his face. When you finally pull away, both of you are staring at each other fondly.        “Yes, I’ll help you fix your handwriting, dummy.”         Yuuji gave you a toothy smile that he only saved for the special ones in his life.

Don’t take him!
~Yuji Itadori x reader~
Warning: Little death mentions
I  have a lot of fun writing short things for Yuji. I have other things for the others, they just aren’t finished yet :~
Tumblr media
I think it's fair to say everyone in their lifetime had that one person that made their lives better. That connection that never broke even in the dark times. For Y/N that person was Itadori Yuji. He was the nicest boy one could ever meet.
Y/N had problems with families when they were little. After their parents were killed or “in an accident” as the police stated. Y/N knew better. There was something else,a spirit or something. They couldn't see it but the presence left the house with them and then their parents and the spirit never returned. Being alone didn’t bother Y/N, they were always alone. It didn't bother them till they were forced into a different situation every few months.
Being an orphan in a public school wasn’t nice either. All the kids could talk about their families when they got the dreaded family tree project every year. “What are your parents like L/N-chan?” kids always asked. “Make sure to invite your parents to the parent night!” The teacher always said. Primary school sucked to say the least. Well at first it did…
“Itadori-kun picked up a bug!!” The girls squealed and the boys stared in awe. Not that Y/N cared, though the bugs were distracting you from your book as they were scary(-_-). “Hey, L/N-chan did ya see? I got rid of the bug, now you can read yer book in peace.” Itadori said as he came over after disposing of the scary creature. You stared at him in confusion, how would this boy who you’ve known not even a week know you detest bugs more than broccoli. He seemed to read your mind. He smiled before sitting next to you. “Ya don’t like bugs right? Whenever you pick out books with animals you make sure there is nothing about bugs in them or you’ll put it back and look for something else.” He explained as he scooted closer. You being stubborn and antisocial you scooted away looking at him like he was trying to trick you. He noticed your discomfort and backed off.
As he was about to give up you spoke for the first time since you arrived. “T-thank y-you I-itadori-kun…” You shyly thanked him. You swear if the sun had a human body, it’d be him. ” Y-YOU CAN TALK” He whisper-yells. He forgot about the whole personal space thing and hugs you. “I hope we can be friends L/N-chan!” He says once he released you from the hug. As much as you wanted to say you don’t want friends his smile made it impossible.
Slowly but surely you became friends with Itadori. He didn’t make you do anything which made you uncomfortable. He was silent when you read, even when he really wanted to talk about something. Eventually you allowed him to talk as you hated seeing him fidget next you. “Itadori-kun-” “ I told you,you can call me Yuji since you let me call you Y/N.” You sighed,”Yuji-kun, what did you want to tell me about? You’ve been fidgeting since you sat down.” His smile always made your day. “Are you sure, I don’t want to bother you. You nod Well then…” His stories never cease to make you laugh. You were happy that you could stay with him forever… Till high school, of course it was high school…
Yuji had left to go see his grandfather again while you stayed at school to catch up on some peaceful reading. You notice Yuji left his textbook again so, knowing that his friends in the occult club were still here, you figured they would be able to give it to him when he came in the morning. The walk to the occult room felt different then usually. It felt almost eerie like a spirit was hanging over your shoulder. “They can’t be back, they spirits left when you met Yuji. Let’s just put his stuff in the room and go ho..me.” You were telling yourself before you say something to move swiftly across the hallway.
I forgot to mention that the years up until you met Yuji there was an eerie feeling always around you. Like someone was always holding onto your hand but never being there. Yeah that wasn’t pleasant for a young child however it was nice when you were alone in foster homes. You always thought they were figments of your imagination since it disappeared abruptly after Yuji hugged you that day.  Running up the stairwell that led to the school roof you thought to yourself “It was nothing it was nothing it was nothing” repeating it till you got to the roof and hid.
Now this was a good idea when no one was at school. You could wait up here till morning and Yuji found you, there would be sunlight and your childhood ghosts would stop haunting your mind again. That thought alone kept you sane.. Until the wall from the school crashed open with said savoir Itadori Yuji fighting something absolutely disgusting to look at. “When I meant you’d find me, I didn’t mean like this.” You fake scolded him in your mind.
Watching Yuji fight was terrifying especially when he almost got crushed by the thing. To your relief he seemed to have a burst of energy all of sudden and he killed the evil looking thing in one move. Yeah that’s Yuji for you.. Impressive strength as always. He did look different tho, he looked angry and.. Possessed like. That is Yuji Itadori right? He turned out to the city spewing nonsense that you couldn’t quite hear. So you having absolute faith in him got closer when he seemed to calm down.
“Y-yuji? Is that you?” You quietly asked, still a little scared of the sudden tattoos on his seriously hot toned body. “Well look at that! This brat already brought me a person of taste. Hehehehehe'' The voice coming from Yuji’s body laughed. “Oi, They're not for sale body snatcher, give me back my body.” Yuji’s voice came next as the black lines faded from his body. After the lines all went away Yuji smiled that wonderful smile towards you opening his arms to show he’s okay. “Hey, Y/N. What are you doing up here? Shouldn't you be heading home by now?” He questioned as he made his way to hug you. “ Yuji, you're all beaten up and-” Before you could finish your analysis of the most important person in life they were cut off by a loud yell. “GET AWAY FROM THE CURSE” They both turned to look at the boy with black hair who looked more beat up than Yuji. “Is he a friend of yours? He looks even worse than you.” You teased before slowly walking over to him, he looked in pain so you didn’t want to scare him. You may be quiet but you aren’t shy or afraid of people anymore.
“Hey, I’m Y/N, the boy over there is my best friend. I think you might be confused, Yuji’s really nice if you get to know him.” Before the boy could even answer a man with a.. Blindfold on? Appeared out of thin air. “What a beauti! Nice one megumi but you're supposed to be finding the curse object not finding dates” The blindfold man said seeming to irritate the boy. After that Yuji explained the whole situation and became really scary after the white-haired man told him to. “W-what happened to Yuji, megumi-kun.. Why won’t you let me see?” You asked, Megumi had your eyes covered for about 10 seconds while loud things were happening around you. “What did you do to him?” Megumi spoke, still covering your face. Before receiving an answer you pried his hand off your face and pushed (more like punched) him away from you.
There are fears that come and go. This was one that never left. Using your loudest voice you could muster in the moment. “Y-Yuji! What did you do to him? Put him down! You can’t take him… I won’t let you!” You screamed as you went to run and get him away from the strange man. Megumi grabbed you before you could stand up. “Y/N right? Please calm down, Yuji is fine, just taking a nap. Though I do have to say this, you most likey won’t be seeing him again. He needs to come with us.” The white-haired man explained as he got closer. You felt as if you’d been stabbed through the heart. “Y-you can’t.. Y-Yuji’s all I have, if y-you take him, I’ll be all alone again. Don’t take him.. I-” You paused never saying this to anyone but your bathroom mirror. “I love him.. I really do… Please don’t take him…” You cried out in Megumi's arms. Now wasn’t the ideal time to admit your love for the boy but the thought of him being taken away..
“You really care about this kid a lot don’t you?” The white haired man started. He knelt down in front of you before pointing to the air “Do you see it, the thing next you?” He asked as Megumi released you. You did feel something grabbing your hand again, it was comforting in the moment. “T-there’s something grabbing my hand, nothing unusual for when Yuji’s not around.” You sniffled as you explained. “Are you trying to see it?” He prompted you. What is this guy crazy of course I can’t… see THE HAND ON MY LEG! You rushed to stand up and back away from it while it still grabbed towards you. “So you can, well I think that’s good enough. Megumi hold him real quick.” White hair said as he passed Yuji to Megumi. “You want to help him right?” you nod as he slowly walked towards you as backed you to the rail “ Are you prepared to help him through his pain and sadness.” You knew this answer before anyone ever asked you said with a strong voice. “I’d protect Yuji with my life any day he needed it.” The blindfolded man smiled as he brought his hand up to hold yours.” Then I guess we’ll be taking both of you then.” He said as he pulled you towards Megumi. “You're taking me with you?” “You said don’t take him, you never said don’t take both of you.”
As long as you don’t take him from me, I'll be alright.

New Horizons (FE: Three Houses Short Fic)
Animal Crossing AU
(PART 1)
(PART 2)
Tumblr media
Byleth, Megumi, and Kazuma must spearhead their group to safety after being transported to an unknown world…
…Of pure comfort and relaxation, led by talking Raccoons, apparently.
----
DAY 1
When the plane finally landed, Kazuma, Aqua and Megumi stretched and took in the island air.
(Kazuma) “Ya know for a buncha raccoons, they’re really good fliers!”
(Megumi) “It’s strange seeing our world like this. Though...the situation here seems far more ideal than the one I was in...”
(Aqua) “Hm? Whatcha mean?”
(Megumi) “...Oh! I’ll save that story for another time, I think everyone has sea legs...Or would that be air legs?”
Everyone else was shaken after being on a vehicle that defied all of their logic.
(Claude) “Sweet land, how I’ve missed you so!”
Kazuma rolled his eyes and turned around to see three raccoons.
Two of them were Timmy and Tommy and the bigger one seemed to be in charge.
(Tom) “Hello, is everyone here?”
(Megumi) “Yes, sir.”
(Tom) “Perfect! Now, let’s all head over to the plaza, I’ll be making our announcement there!”
After heading to the plaza, the raccoon took names of everyone and checked the names off his clipboard.
Once everything checked out, he cleared his throat.
(Tom) “Welcome everyone, to your new island! My name is Tom Nook, and I’m the founder and president of Nook Inc., yes yes! Today is the first day of your new pristine island life!”
Tom Nook explained to the party that they were to begin their new lives on this deserted island as a getaway package, and that their company would be providing everything they need to be comfortable.
Tommy and Timmy gave everyone tents to set up their first homes.
(Tom) “When you’re done, please head back to the plaza! We’ll see you in a bit!”
He turned around and began speaking to the smaller raccoons, presumably about what to do next.
(Byleth) “I guess we oughtta go head and find somewhere to camp out.”
(Kazuma) “Well, see ya in a bit then.”
Everyone nodded and went off in separate groups.
Dimitri, Edelgard, Claude
(Claude) “Ah, this gives me some nostalgia!”
(Edelgard) “You cannot be referring to the time when we were running away from those bandits, right?”
(Claude) “Course I am! It’s kinda a similar situation. On the move, unknown territory, and all of us together!”
(Dimitri) “I fail to see the connection. These aren’t bandits they’re...talking raccoons! I cannot wrap my head around this, nor the technology they possess!”
(Edelgard) “Megunee Kazuma and Aqua seem used to it though. They did say that this was their world, correct?”
(Claude) “We should ask ‘em next chance we get, I’m getting more and more curious about this place myself.”
(Dimitri) “Well in any case, is this where we are sleeping?”
The three of them were standing near the beach, the view looking right at the ocean waves crashing against the sand.
(Edelgard) “Beachside property, eh? Heh, looks like you do have some taste, Claude.”
(Claude) “I’m the only one who does here.”
Byleth, Darkness, Megumin
(Byleth) “Strange, I thought you would’ve gone with Kazuma and Aqua.”
(Megumin) “We already live with them, so it’s nice to take just a little break now and again! And besides, with how small this island is, I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other a lot.”
(Darkness) “This truly is a fascinating world. No war, just peace and quiet...and...talking animals.”
(Byleth) “Yeah, it’s quite the sight. Oh and uh, while we’re here-”
(Darkness & Megumin) ?
(Byleth) “Try...not to weird Tom Nook and the kids out, yeah?”
(Darkness) “I honestly have no idea what you mean.”
(Megumin) “Uh...huh.”
The three of them made their tents nearby the river on the right side of the area.
Megumi, Kazuma, Aqua
(Megumi) “So this is camping!”
(Aqua) “First time?”
(Megumi) “Yes, I’ve never had the chance to do this as a kid. In Japanese cities, there’s not a lot of places where you can do this.”
(Kazuma) “Yeah, it’s a bit claustrophobic. Though, I wouldn’t know too much about that.”
(Aqua) “I’m still trying to figure out how we got here? I can contact Eris and Sothis just fine, so we definitely have access back but...”
(Megumi) “But you don’t know, yes?”
(Aqua) “Right. For Kazuma to get back to his old world, he had to defeat the Demon King. And when we got transported to Fodlan, I think we’re supposed to fight the Flame Emperor or something. As for here?”
(Kazuma) “Meh, I’m fine living in Animal Crossing.”
(Megumi) “So, what is this world? You seem to know this place a bit.”
(Kazuma) “I’ve played a few of the games myself, actually. Basically we just live here in houses and just laze around all day. It’s very relaxing to play, and it’s gonna be even sweeter to live in! Just the life I wanted!”
(Aqua) “Tch, of course the first thing you do is take advantage of it.”
(Kazuma) “Hell yeah, I am! No way I’m gonna let my life of luxury go away like this!”
(Megumi) “Well...Do you know if humans are still around? Tom and the others didn’t seem to react to us that violently.”
(Kazuma) “Oh yeah, it’s supposed to be modern day and everything. Japan, Europe, America, they’re all still here. Only difference is that there’s talking animals that live here in this world too, and no bad war or anything seems to happen.”
(Megumi) “I...I see.”
Megumi’s hand clenched around her necklace for a moment.
(Aqua) “You alright?”
(Megumi) “Y-Yes! Let’s just set our tents, shall we?”
They all nodded and got to work. Their tents were in the middle of a field with barely any trees around.
Everyone made their way back and Tom Nook smiled.
At least they assumed so, all he did was close his eyes.
(Tom) “Alright, with that taken care of, we can move onto more serious business...LIKE THROWING AN ISLAND-WARMING PARTY! We’ll have it right here in the plaza with a roaring campfire!”
(Claude) “Hah, that’s something I can get behind!”
(Aqua) “PARTY, WOOOO!”
(Tom) “I’m glad to see you’re so excited! Now, we’ll just need a couple supplies! Dimitri, Claude, and Edelgard, let’s clean up the plaza! Byleth, Darkness and Megumin, you should find some snacks on the trees! I’ve test tasted a few of them and they’re safe to eat. Aqua, Megumi, and Kazuma, if I could have a word?”
Everyone got off to work as the three went up to Tom Nook.
(Tom) “Now, I know it says that Megumi is the Representative of the island, but can I entrust you two to help as well? You all seem the least nervous about the package, and I’m sure everyone would rally behind you!”
(Aqua) “Hah, you made a good choice!-”
(Kazuma) “Can we have Byleth instead?”
(Aqua) “HUH?!”
(Kazuma) “He’s actually our professor, alongside Megune-Er, Miss Sakura here. Aqua is just kinda here.”
(Tom) “A professor you say? Very well, Aqua could you go help Megumin and Darkness then?”
(Aqua) “I WON’T FORGET THIS KAZUMAAAAAAAA!”
She ran off quickly towards Byleth’s group and everyone else looked on in awkward silence.
(Tom) “...She’s a colorful character.”
(Megumi) “Hah, you have...no idea.”
(Kazuma) “Anyways, we’ll be more than happy to help mister Nook!”
(Tom) “Excellent, thank you very much! Now, let’s get to work!”
Kazuma walked off to help Dimitri’s group, but Megumi was still standing.
(Tom) “Is something wrong?”
(Megumi) “Um...is it possible to send a letter out?”
Later...
Once everyone did their assigned jobs, they all stood in front of the plaza as Tom stood in the center.
(Tom) “Now, it’s been a big day for the island of Garreg, and it’s gotten a bit late, so let’s all have a toast!”
Everyone got out their drinks.
(Tom) “These are pear drinks made with the help of Byleth, Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin!”
(Byleth) “Glad to have helped.”
(Aqua) “Hmph!”
(Darkness) “A simple task for a paladin.”
(Megumin) “Insultingly simple for the Crimson Demon!”
(Tom) “And we have this toasty fire thanks to the efforts of Dimitri, Edelgard, Claude, Kazuma, and Megumi!”
(Claude) “No need for thanks!”
(Dimitri) “How modest you sound, Claude.”
(Edelgard) “We appreciate the attention, mister Nook.”
(Kazuma) “My arms are sore as heeeee-...ck.”
(Megumi) “M-Mine as well, but it was well worth it in the end!”
(Tom) “Now, on the count of three, let’s have a cheer to our new life!”
“HERE HERE!”
The party began with everyone chugging down their drinks, and the music played from the nearby radio.
Aqua entertained everyone with her party magic, and for a grand finale, Megumin cast a powerful and colorful explosion in the skies. As everyone mingled and danced to the music, Byleth quietly slipped away from the crowd.
Megumi was the first to notice and followed her, which in turn made Kazuma follow her.
Byleth sat on the beach, watching the waves glisten from the starry sky above.
(Megumi) “Byleth?”
(Byleth) “Megumi.”
She sat down next to him, and Kazuma joined the two by sitting down as well.
(Byleth) “This...is a bit unsettling. I’ve never had an experience quite like this.”
(Kazuma) “After the first time you kinda get used to it.”
(Megumi) “I don’t understand how!”
(Byleth) “I...think I understand how you two feel now. Being transported to some unknown world, not sure what happened to everyone back at home...”
(Kazuma) “Bah, you got the easy end! We’re in a happy cuddly world, lot better to your war torn world!...No offense.”
(Byleth) “Hm. None taken. My world is the Monastery now anyway I don’t care much for outside of it.
(Megumi) “My old world was...enjoyable...until a certain day...”
(Kazuma & Byleth) “Huh?”
(Megumi) “Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean to bring the mood down! This is supposed to be a party after all!”
(Kazuma) “This have something to do with your letter you sent out?”
(Megumi) “Ah...”
(Byleth) “Letter?”
(Megumi) “Well...When you said that this was a world without crisis, and it was Earth in modern times I...asked Tom Nook to send out a letter to some former students I taught and my mother.”
(Kazuma) “What are their names?”
(Megumi) “Yuki, Yuuri, and Kurumi. In short, let’s just say...something happened to me that I was no longer able to talk to them so...If this world is truly as peaceful as you say, I wish to experience it with them. My family as well.”
(Sothis) “Hah, that’s much like her. Thinking about others before herself.”
(Kazuma) “Wouldn’t be Megunee if she didn’t right?”
(Megumi) “H-Huh? Who said that?”
Byleth and Kazuma’s eyes widened and Sothis faded away quickly.
(Byleth) “Um...Anyways, so what are we in for, Kazuma?”
(Kazuma) “Well...if this is like Animal Crossing, we’ll be living here for a good long while. We can pretty much relax everyday and do whatever we want. But uh...we’ll be in debt.”
Kazuma loudly sighed.
(Kazuma) “Even in a kid friendly world, my ass is still in debt...”
(Megumi) “Wait, debt?”
(Tom) “Oh, I wouldn’t phrase it that way!”
Everyone jumped up, hearing Tom directly behind them.
(Kazuma) “JESUS!”
(Megumi) “GAH!”
(Byleth) “WHOA!”
(Tom) “Sorry, I did not mean to frighten, haha! I just wanted to let you all know that everyone is heading back to their tent for some shut eye. I’ll be telling you all what’s in store for your new lives tomorrow!”
They looked at each other and nodded.
(Kazuma) “Well, we’re looking forward to our lives here!”
(Megumi) “Indeed!”
(Byleth) “It’ll be interesting.”
(Tom) “Good to hear it, good night!”
Tom nook waved everyone off and went back to the plaza.
(Byleth) “New lives...again.”
(Megumi) “I won’t waste the second chance of life I’ve been given.”
(Kazuma) “Same here...Wait, what?”
(Megumi) “Good night everyone!”
Byleth and Kazuma looked concerned for a moment, but decided to ignore it. After saying good night, they all went to bed.

Writing Commission - A Gift of Sunshine - Chapter 5
Merry (late) Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Blessed Yule! My apologies for such a delay in the update today, but here we are at last! As apology and a gift, take a double chapter update!
Also, a few of you expressed concern over where the story is going considering there's so many chapters left, and, well... let's just say that good things will come in the end. :)
                                                          ⁂
Summary: It is the worst day of fifteen-year-old Aizawa Shouta’s life when he trudges home after a failed entrance test to U.A. – the school made for heroes. His worst day abruptly turns strange, however, when he gets home to find a beautiful sword on his bed with a scroll attached that is addressed from his grandfather.
It turns out that his entire family was descended from a samurai (unsurprising considering he lived in Japan) and the sword was meant to help him become a hero. Shouta hadn’t been expecting the sword to talk, however, and he especially hadn’t expected the sword to have a voice as warm as sunshine itself.
It’s a long journey to become a hero like he wants, but Shouta has a feeling that he and Hizashi are going to do just fine.

                                            Chapter Five
                                                    ⁂
Staring down at the mounds of disorganized paperwork in his lap, Shouta idly bit down on his pen and wondered, if he bit hard enough to break the pen and swallow some of the ink, if that would be enough to relieve him of having to deal with the stress of what would surely be his death. Forget villains and falling buildings, it would be the paperwork that would kill him in his career as a pro-hero.
“My, my, what a terrifying scowl, Eraserhead!” Twitching at the words that might as well have been purred out, Shouta glanced up to see ‘Midnight’ and ‘Present Mic’ cheerfully waving at him from his doorway, Nemuri holding Hizashi’s sword in one hand and a bag of take-out in the other. He regretted the day he gave his friends keys to where he lived. “Aw, aren’t you happy to see us? See, see, we even brought you back dinner!”
Shouta managed to withhold his growl, instead turning back to his paperwork with a silent vow that he would burn it, his apartment, and everything inside to the ground if the police so much as lost a single piece of paper once he turned it in; hell, he’d burn the police station down, too. Plus Ultra, and all.
“Shouta, please tell me you’ve actually slept instead of just doing paperwork,” Nemuri was striding over with a very no-nonsense Tensei attitude, dropping Hizashi’s sword into his lap before starting to open and spread out the multiple containers of food that was far too much for two people. “You’re supposed to be resting or else that broken leg of yours is never going to heal!”
“I don’t need rest. I need to get this work done,” Shouta grunted, adjusting the sword to where he was still free to do his paperwork even as he felt Hizashi’s arms curl around his shoulders, a single glance up showing the man smiling down at him.
Hizashi had ‘changed’ into simple clothing that looked soft and easy to move in and his hair, as well, was down out of its ‘hero style’ and lightly pulled out of his face, glasses low on the bridge of his nose; which was still ridiculous. Why did a spirit need glasses? Right. Shouta was getting distracted. He made sure to refocus by glaring at Hizashi with a muttered, “You don’t even start.”
“Aw, what’s wrong, Starlight?” Instead of Nemuri’s over-the-top and sexual tone that coated her purred out words, Hizashi’s was always so much softer and more genuine, the words near whispered against his cheek. The pressure was never anything that could be mistaken as another person touching him, but it was never devoid of warmth, either. It was also just… Hizashi. “Are you still upset Nem and I had to take over?”
“According to what the police are constantly telling me, you don’t legally exist,” Shouta complained, relaxing into Hizashi’s soft hugs and kisses as Nemuri fluffed his pillows, which had been fine, before starting to shove food at him. “I have a broken leg and an appointment with a healer’s quirk tomorrow. Stop fussing.”
“I am not fussing,” Nemuri frowned, the lie said as if she truly believed it. “Is that why you’re so wound up? Just say you teamed up with me and Present Mic for this one and be done with it!”
“You do know that a lot of heroes don’t know if ‘Present Mic’ is even real or not, don’t you?” Shouta felt a swat to his side that made him flinch before he was glaring at Hizashi again, who gestured for him to eat. “You need to stop possessing other pros when they show up on a crime scene.”
“Good luck with that,” Nemuri muttered ‘quietly,’ Shouta throwing her a glare of her own as the woman grabbed her own food and squirmed around on the couch to be able to both touch the sword and not touch his broken leg.
Hizashi, meanwhile, was whining again, “What? No! Shouta, baby, please, it’s not my fault that all of our co-workers are essentially idiots and can’t be bothered to listen to a decent plan without ego getting in the way.” While Nemuri snorted hard enough that it no doubt had hurt, Shouta hid his own laughter with a couple bites of food. “Technically, I do legally exist since I was born in this country. It was just, uh… a long time ago.”
“Unless you can find a birth or death certificate, I don’t think telling them that will help,” Shouta sighed, unable to help the smile he could feel forming when Hizashi pressed a soft kiss against his cheek. “How was the raid? I assume it went fine since neither of you are complaining about dying.”
Then again, all of Shouta’s friends were idiots. Tensei had broken an arm and continued to fight for a full two hours before he had even noticed what had happened - the same Tensei who had cried when getting a papercut a few weeks back, as Shouta recalled. All in all, he wouldn’t be surprised if his idiots were actively dying while acting like everything was fine.
Hizashi, at least, knew him too well as always, already giving a quiet laugh even as he answered. “We’re fine, Shou-chan. Besides, you know I’d forcibly control Nem and take her to the hospital if I thought she needed it.”
“Hey! You said you’d never possess me without consent unless it was an emergency,” Nemuri accused, dramatic ‘heartbroken’ tone to her words that sounded fake as could be. It was enough to make Hizashi flounder, though, Shouta doing nothing beyond watching his boyfriend make excuses and reassure an ‘inconsolable’ Nemuri. He honestly wasn’t sure if Hizashi bought it, or if he had too much fun playing along to the drama; either one was believable with these two.
All their dramatics gave Shouta time to focus back on his paperwork, though, managing to finish off another sheet along with another few bites of food as he thought over the problem that was teaming up with ‘Present Mic.’
While Hizashi technically had a hero license due to Nezu’s meddling and some very bemused scorers for the actual test they had taken, they were still left with the problem that Present Mic wasn’t ‘real’ to most people. Hizashi’s license kept them from being declared villains-in-the-making due to all the possession that took place during their fights, but, to Shouta’s knowledge, all the police stations in over a dozen prefectures despised their teamwork and methods.
Getting Hizashi registered as Present Mic had started as Shouta just wanting to make sure Hizashi was given the proper credit he was due, as the two of them really did work as a duo in their careers now, but it had ended up as one large headache; especially with the gaggle of pro-hero children who seemed to think that they were being mind controlled even after their ‘team ups.’
“If you keep scowling like that then eventually it’s gonna stick,” Hizashi teased, patting at Shouta’s cheek and laughing when Shouta swatted him off. “C’mon, it’s not that bad! Legally they can’t do shit to us, after all.”
“Legally they can make my life a living nightmare with the paperwork they give me and then ‘lose,’” Shouta snorted, reaching for another container of food absently and starting in on that one as well, idly wondering if he should ask Nezu if there were any plans to turn the entire system digital once and for all. Then again, his work would probably just be deleted out of spite. “Maybe we should prove a point and burn one of the stations down.”
“You just need to smile through it, Shouta,” Nemuri sighed, as if she wasn’t rising in popularity and already had a devoted following for her hero image. “Oh! That reminds me! Your agency’s publicist contacted me earlier today!”
“Megumi-san? Why does she have your number?” It wasn’t unheard of for publicists to have some heroes get in contact with others depending on patrol schedules and timing, but that was only if the heroes worked for the same agency. “Is something wrong?”
Nemuri grinned and Shouta felt mildly scared at the same moment Hizashi’s arms tightened around him. “She wanted me to remind you boys that you have an interview tomorrow.”
“Ah. I’m not going.” Shouta took another bite of food, chewing slowly and savoring Nemuri’s shocked and offended expression. Leave it to a media hero to be offended at the idea of avoiding them. “My leg is broken.”
“That’s why Megumi-san contacted me to let me know that your interview was rescheduled to be after your appointment which, like you said earlier, will heal your leg up the rest of the way.” Humming to show he had heard, Shouta idly wondered if breaking another leg would be considered a sign of madness. “And, since I’m such a good best friend, I’ll even be escorting you from the hospital to the station!”
There was a little snicker from Hizashi and Shouta would have thrown the rest of his food in the spirit’s face if it wouldn’t just go through him and stain the carpet. As it was, Shouta made sure to pinch his side until he earned an unflattering yelp. “Aw, c’mon, Shou-chan! This is a great opportunity to present a better image for underground heroes - you won’t even be on television! It’s just for a magazine!”
“What part of underground hero do you two still not get? I’m not supposed to be known at all, let alone out and doing interviews like some ranked hero who never learned that this job is about more than just a pretty smile.” His friends, horrible creatures that they were, didn’t even give his speech anything beyond an eyeroll. They could burn when Shouta set fire to the police station, he decided. “It’s a bad idea.”
“Just let Hizashi take over if you’re so worried about it,” Nemuri sighed, waving her chopsticks lazily as if that wasn’t the worst idea in the world. “He, at least, is good at dealing with the media.”
Shouta laughed at that, unable to help himself as he half-grinned at Nemuri, “Are you kidding? Half the time it’s him who’s pushing me to let loose on the media because they’re ‘trespassing on a crime scene.’”
“Well, that is true,” Nemuri admitted. “But he’s better at acting like he likes the media, unlike you, who does nothing whatsoever to hide his disdain.” Shouta hummed, finishing off the last bite of food as spitefully as he could manage. “Look, it’s just one short interview about life as an underground hero. You’ll be in and out in under an hour at most.”
“It’s a good chance at getting underground heroes seen in a better light,” Hizashi pointed out, a hand running through Shouta’s hair in a gesture that almost had him melting. “I think it’ll be good.”
Ah, well… If Hizashi wanted to do it then Shouta supposed that was that. “If you’re underground you shouldn’t be in any light,” Shouta complained one last time, knowing that the other two knew he had given in just by their grins.
Still, an hour talking about underground heroes was something he could handle well enough. Really, Shouta was sure it wouldn’t be that bad.
                                                            ⁂
Shouta, with as much hatred, annoyance, and sheer panic as he could muster, clearly and loudly thought the words, This is your fault.
“If we wanna get technical here, it’d be our publicist’s fault,” Hizashi grumbled, sitting on the arm of the armchair Shouta had been forced into the moment he stepped in the room he had been directed to for his interview.
After everything had been explained, Shouta had expected a frazzled intern with too many things to do and too little time on their hands to bother asking too many questions. Instead his interview was being conducted by someone with over a decade of experience, eyes that felt like they were waiting for him to slip up, and a recording device that had been on since the moment he walked into the room.
“You think we could get this chick to sign up for recon at the agency,” Hizashi half-mumbled to himself, Shouta taking small solstice in the feeling of Hizashi leaning against his side and arm and staying close by. “She’s fucking ruthless and I feel like half of ‘em would love her.”
The interviewer, Tanaka, was shuffling through what looked like a plan of attack in bullet point format after Shouta had vaguely explained the differences between acceptable risks and levels of violence and how it changed between ‘media’ heroes and those who worked underground. Tanaka had shown no expression and Shouta was half-wondering if he and his entire agency would be sued.
“So, Aizawa-san, it’s said that you’re officially registered as part of a hero duo with the hero ‘Present Mic,’ but research shows that there’s no record of him beyond a registered hero license dated the same as yours. Care to elaborate?”
Deciding the answer ‘not really’ wouldn’t be sufficient, Shouta tried to relax as he gave a calm answer, “Present Mic and I went to school together at U.A. and formed a duo after we graduated. He’s a more private person than I am, so it’s unsurprising there’s not much information on him.”
Hizashi, at least, found Shouta’s comment about him being ‘private’ as amusing as Shouta thought it was, laughing where Shouta wasn’t able to. “I’ll remember you said that so I can have you back me up next time Tensei yells at me for oversharing.”
“And what of the rumors that your partnership is a romantic one and that you two have been together since your school days?” Tanaka remained completely serious and Shouta took a moment to force himself to stay blank and calm even as Hizashi sputtered beside him, Shouta wanting to do much the same.
“May I ask as to where these rumors originated beyond any base speculation?” Because, yes, alright, every hero fan assumed that all hero duos were romantic at one point or another in their lives if they weren’t siblings, but for an interviewer to just come out and ask? Shouta wasn’t sure if anyone besides Tensei, Nemuri, and possibly Nezu even knew that he and Hizashi were together. Well, Shukuchi might have, but Shouta was sure his former mentor had done his best to pretend they hadn’t been together.
“It’s been a matter of speculation for quite some time in the pro hero circles, especially those that surround underground heroes. I was wondering if you would be able to confirm any of these rumors or lay them to rest.” Hizashi was right. Tanaka was ruthless.
“Tell her that you’re dating your sword. She might be freaked out enough to end the interview early so we can finally leave,” Hizashi snickered, Shouta doing his best to not glare at him or give in to the urge to pinch him.
As it was, he took a moment to center himself before trying to appear as relaxed as possible, leaving his answer at a simple, “No.”
“I see.” Ah, so no was the wrong answer. Good to know for the future, he supposed. “Continuing on with the subject, do you feel comfortable being in a relationship as a pro hero?”
“Yes, I feel comfortable with the possibility of being in a relationship, and many other heroes will say the same. While as an underground hero I’m afforded more secrecy and protection, other heroes have been taught and learned how to separate their civilian life and their hero life in order to have normal, healthy           relationships.”
Hizashi gave a snort of laughter, nudging at Shouta, “I’m sure Nezu will be proud to know his favorite student remembered all of his lectures by heart.” The urge to shove him off the chair was overwhelming.
“Yet statistics have shown that relationships involving heroes often fail and last no longer than six months to a year, and these numbers only shrink when it comes to underground heroes and the secrecy involving their work. What do you think about this?”
“Jesus,” Hizashi muttered, no doubt feeling the same disgust Shouta was. “It’s always about the fucking romance angle, isn’t it? Isn’t she supposed to be asking you about, you know, hero work?”
Shouta mumbled a near voiceless, “She’s supposed to.” before speaking normally. “I think that relationships require work and communication no matter the circumstances.”
A gleam entered Tanaka’s eye and Shouta felt something like ice slide into his veins even as he made a note to yell at Megumi later. “So, you’re saying you condone lying to your partner as that’s what’s required of pro hero relationships.”
“Shouta,” Hizashi half-sang, something sharp and dangerous in his tone as Shouta felt the man’s hand curl around his wrist. “Shouta, you should let me take over for a few minutes.” Shouta was half-tempted, but he was pretty sure yelling at an interviewer would be better than cutting her open with a sword.
“In no capacity did I say that lying to one’s partner is required for a relationship in which one party is a pro hero. There are some things that can’t be shared such as case details, yes, but I doubt your partner needs to know about the drug ring you’re tracking in order to feel secure in the relationship.”
“But at one point or another lying would simply have to come into play. You yourself mentioned in this interview that being an underground hero is dangerous work, and that there’s always the chance that those around you will be in some form of danger.”
Shouta could feel Hizashi mentally pushing at him, desperately wanting to take over and say his own piece. Shouta calmly brushed the mental presence away, standing up at the same time before catching Tanaka’s gaze and not letting go.
“As surprising as this might come to someone like you, a relationship can exist without the need for lies and secrecy, as both myself and my partner of five years can testify to. If that will be all, Tanaka-san, I have work to do.”
Shouta was already out the door and slamming it shut behind him before he had to listen to that woman’s voice for any longer, anger carrying him all the way back to their apartment before Shouta was dropping onto the couch and scrubbing a hand down his face, along with a muttered, “Megumi is going to kill us for this.”
There was no answering remark or comment and that realization alone had Shouta darting up, hand closing tight around the sheath of the sword as he quickly looked around for Hizashi who… was staring at him. Silently.
Taking a moment to make sure neither of them were dying and Shouta hadn’t said something worthy of the silent treatment, he finally broke the silence with a quiet, “What’s wrong, Sunshine?” Because it was possible that after all of that Hizashi was even more upset than he was.
“No- No, no, it’s nothing bad, I just- I didn’t-” Hizashi floundered, somehow still soft and quiet even as another part of him seemed overwhelmed and manic. “I… I knew you cared I just didn’t know… I never thought you’d admit you cared to anyone who didn’t know, let alone a reporter. I mean, I’m- I’m not exactly, you know- It’s not like it counts.”
Hoping he was wrong about what Hizashi’s fumbling words could mean, Shouta stood up slowly and moved until he was in front of Hizashi, cutting off the man’s panicked pacing. “‘Zashi. I can’t answer any questions you have if you can’t tell me what those questions are. What doesn’t count?”
“Us! We don’t count!” Hizashi looked a few seconds away from crying and Shouta felt as if the air had been stolen from his lungs. “I’m nothing more or less than a ghost, Shouta, whatever happens between us is just- It’s nothing!”
Hizashi’s shout seemed to ring the air for what felt like an eternity, Shouta taking a slow, calm breath before he did something stupid like throw the sword out the closest window. He loved his boyfriend deeply, after all, even if he was the biggest idiot within all of Japan.
“Alright, then.” Taking another step closer towards Hizashi, Shouta narrowed his eyes when he saw the man take a stumbling step back. That alone, more than anything else, spoke volumes. “Tell me, while looking me in the eye, that our relationship means nothing to you.”
A flash and, like always, the manic and panicked energy seemed to leave Hizashi all at once, Shouta’s arms opening at once as Hizashi fell into them with a muffled sob that hurt more than anything else. It hurt because they had been together for years and Shouta still hadn’t seen just how unsure Hizashi was in what they were to each other.
“You’ve been getting caught up in your head, Sunshine,” Shouta said softly, running a hand through Hizashi’s hair and unable to stop the soft joy and awe he felt as it slid through his fingers. So many years of being able to touch and he still wasn’t over it. “Why are you really so upset? Because I mentioned I had a partner?”
Hizashi managed to cut off what sounded like another forming sob, instead replacing it with a choked off, “Yes.” Shouta felt Hizashi’s nails dig into him, frantic and terrified. “Of course I’m upset, Shouta, because you saying that to someone like her makes it real.”
Pulling back after a bit of a struggle, Shouta cupped Hizashi’s cheek with his free hand at once, frowning at the tear stains and red-rimmed eyes and shuddering breaths. For as much as he claimed he was nothing more than a ghost, Hizashi was the most human out of all of them. “And? Why does that make you upset? I need you to explain it to me, Hizashi. Why-”
“Because that means it’s only going to hurt more when you’re gone.” The words had Shouta snapping his mouth shut, surprised due to the sheer fact that Hizashi rarely, if ever, talked about what would happen after Shouta was… gone. “I love you so much, Shouta, so much that most days it hurts. I’ve never felt like this before and I know that one day, no matter how far away, I’ll lose this feeling-”
“No.” For once, Shouta’s mouth moved first, logic the furthest thing from his mind. “That’s… No. That’s not how it’s going to work.” Shouta leaned their foreheads together gently, smiling even as he saw Hizashi’s confused expression. “That’s not what’s going to happen because no matter what I’ll never… I’ll never stop loving you.” Emotions were never Shouta’s strong suit, but for Hizashi… He could always be strong for Hizashi. “Will you ever stop loving me-?”
“Of course not!” The enraged squawk had Shouta bursting into laughter, unable to stop himself from leaning in to kiss Hizashi softly, tasting the reluctant smile more than anything else.
“Then how are you going to lose this feeling?” Shouta asked softly, feeling embarrassment squirm around inside him as Hizashi’s grief faded for a soft awe that Shouta had only ever seen directed at him. “I’ll be gone one day, and it’s not always going to be easy, but for right now… I’m here. I’m here and I love you.”
Hizashi gave another choked cry, Shouta feeling the helpless smile on his face as he looked at this man he was so ridiculously in love with. “Do you think that’ll be enough, Sunshine?”
“What the hell, Shouta, you can’t just do that we’ve talked about this! You know what happens when you get like this! You get emotional and then I get emotional and-” It was impossible to stop his laughter at Hizashi’s complaints, Shouta finally letting him go with one last kiss before heading towards the bedroom.
“Come on, drama queen, let’s get some rest before our next patrol. If we’re lucky we have at least a week before Nemuri finds out what I said in that interview and comes after me.” Nemuri would probably try to make their relationship ‘public,’ nevermind how she would manage to do something like that. Shouta wouldn’t put it past the witch.
“Excuse you, I am not- Your phone is buzzing.” Pausing to glance back, Shouta looked around before noticing his phone on the couch where it had no doubt fallen out of his pocket, buzzing with text message after text message.
“So it is.” Shouta would deal with it after his nap. “Come on. Nap time.” There was a snort of laughter that Shouta graciously chose to ignore.
“Oh! It’s Nem!” Of course it was the witch. She had probably felt Shouta thinking poorly of her. “She’s asking about the… interview…”
Hearing the trailing silence and feeling a jolt of emotion that was almost enough to knock him off his feet, Shouta was spinning around and getting ready for anything, gaze quickly finding Hizashi, who was standing next to the couch with Shouta’s phone in his hand.
“Hizashi? What’s wrong? What happened?” It was possible Nemuri had been texting about an emergency, but she would typically call, in that case. The emotion had definitely come from Hizashi, but Shouta had no idea what it was about when Hizashi was doing nothing more than standing there and staring down at… at Shouta’s phone that he was holding. “Oh.”
Shouta scratched at his cheek for a moment, staring at Hizashi holding a physical object which, in their hard-learned experience, should be impossible. Finally, after what felt like too long, Shouta nodded to himself.
“Come to bed and take a nap with me and I’ll let you pretend to be me when you text her. We’ll see how long it takes her to realize it’s you.” Shouta was once again heading towards the bedroom, smiling as he heard Hizashi’s loud laughter following after him. All in all, Shouta supposed he wouldn’t yell at Megumi too badly.
