Voice Message || Gojo, Nanami, Fushiguro M., Okkotsu, Itadori
Fluff. JJK men sending you voice message while they're away for days
GOJO SATORU
The message will only come whenever he remembers
So in average, once per 3 days....
The duration is about 2-3 mins long. He will only talk about food he tries, bragging about his strength, and amount of cursed spirit he has defeated
Sometimes, you will hear either explosion or Yuuji & Nobara bickering in the background
"Did you sleep with my shirt and hugging my pillow? Poor angel~"
"I wonder why Nanami never appreciate my message? Pretty sure I said 'penis' repeteadly!"
You need to hold back the urge to smash your phone every time you listen to his message
End the recording with a teasing tone, and you wish you can teleport to his place to punch then squeeze him in a hug (no need to be in order)
"Don't be shy to reply to my message and say you miss me. I won't laugh."
"Oh, and don't touch yourself. Don't touch what's mine. Okay?"
NANAMI KENTO
The message comes every morning and night in a short duration, 2 mins is the maximum
Will summarize things he will do and had done for the day. Pretty much like a report, but it gives you the idea of what he does, plus make you less worry
And that's actually his goal. He understands you tend to overthink when he's not clear about something
He also sent some pics of him because you ask him to. You just love this man and his effort so much 🥰
"Stop staying up late. And don't spend your money on junk food."
"I will try to come home soon."
There will be a short pause in his message, sign of him considering next words he's gonna say.
"If you would, I'd like to hear back from you. Even better, a video message."
"Only to make sure you're also still, uhm, alive."
A big smile would never leave your face after his message. You end up doing your makeup before recording a video for him
FUSHIGURO MEGUMI
Another one that sends short message
Complaining why he should send you voice message every day. But will still do it anyway
His message always comes in the morning
Just like Nanami, he will share his plan for that day
"I just woke up, and going to the city in 15 mins. Looking at the progress, I think it won't take long until I come home."
Somehow, his raspy voice sends fog to your brain, and you have to pause the message, take a deep breath, then play it again without thinking to touch yourself
"I find it odd how you only reply with photos and text. I want you to send me voice message too, in the morning, lunch time, and night."
"You're not the only one that miss their partner, you know."
You land pecks on your phone screen and curl up on your bed. Smirking, to the thought of him flustered as he's saying that line.
You will reply promptly, teasing him along the duration for his effort to stay flat
The guy will listen to it in his burning cheek and swear to punish you when he's home
OKKOTSU YUUTA
Every night, you can assure one of your phone notifications comes from him
He sends a long message, sharing every thing he has done that day 😭 ♥
It's about 7 mins in average but you don't mind listening to it
He's excited to talk about pretty sceneries, foods, cursed-spirits, interesting people he encounters
Every thing he saw always remind him to his friends and you
"Panda would be happy to play with zebra and elephant here! Oh, do you think Maki will be happy to get a traditional weapon? I also found a triple face sculpted mask and I remember Inumaki!"
"I want to go here with you. Not for missions, I guess. I'll take you to this cafe I found!"
"If you're not busy, maybe we can call? I think I haven't heard your voice for years."
"Please don't get bored hearing this, but I miss you."
You will replay the message before sleeping as it's the best lullaby in the world
ITADORI YUUJI
King of short message
But will send A LOT in a day.
Some of the message will just calling out to you. While some of them only random talks with some details of his activity that he casually mentions
"Baaaabe I miss you."
"I'm in the city right now. Didn't expect it to be this crowded! Kugisaki forced Fushiguro to take pics of her in crosswalk."
"I'm eating now. Their dessert is bomb!"
"Baaabe, what you doin'?"
He's too precious and of course you will reply to every thing 🥺 ♥
"I promise I'll be home soon. Please please hug me and I want my kisses!"
The voice message has failed to treat your longing of your boyfriend. Now you yearn for him.

KUWSK is killing me with cuteness like I literally feel my heart clench with every one shot. I was wondering if you could maybe do a lil one shit on the aftermath of the aftermath of the router incident 😭 after obi-wan clarifies he does in fact love the kids and doesn’t want them to leave…I just need anakin to tell obi-wan he wants to stay… love this sm
oh bless, i'm happy to hear you like them!!! this is a bit sappy and also um definitely unedited so 🙈🙈but i think this includes the most obikin content of them all so far which is wild seeing as how my google doc for KUWSK is literally 15k at this point.
(here is the aftermath of the Router Incident, for context)
(1.6k)
Comforting and calming the children, that’s the easy part. Children forget grievances like water rolls off a duck’s back. Adults are trickier.
Adults don’t just forget and forgive.
Obi-Wan finishes the book he’s been reading to the kids. Last night, they had been on Chapter Two. Tonight, the kids are asleep by Chapter Four, but he keeps reading, all the way through the denouement at the end of the book. He knows he’ll have to go back to Chapter Four tomorrow night, knows that he may have bought himself some time but not enough time to make a difference.
But if Anakin really wanted to leave, there was nothing on God’s green earth that could stop him.
He places the book on the nightstand between the two beds and quietly stands, adjusting his glasses.
Finding and signing a lease can happen very, very quickly. He suddenly wants to wake the kids up, just to read another chapter. There are so many books left to finish, but finding and signing a lease can happen...can happen very, very quickly.
How many more chapters do they have left?
The entire time he spends walking down the stairs, he’s hoping that Anakin will have already gone to bed. But the light in the living room is still on, which means Anakin doesn’t want to keep ignoring the elephant in the room, which means in turn that either Obi-Wan can continue down the hall at the bottom of the staircase to his own room and just pretend that he doesn’t know Anakin’s waiting up for him, or he can confront the situation and perhaps even act his age.
He goes to the living room. If he only has a certain block of time left with Anakin in his presence, he’s not going to waste any of it hiding in his room.
Anakin is standing with his arms crossed, looking at the mantle of the fireplace and the photos lined up there. His face is hidden from view, but his posture is stiff.
“The children are asleep,” Obi-Wan says, mostly to announce himself. Which he knows is stupid, seeing as how Anakin most definitely heard him come down the stairs. But suddenly he wants Anakin’s eyes on him quite desperately. He will, in fact, do most anything to have the man look at him. His eyes are so expressive. His eyes are so beautiful.
Obi-Wan shakes the thought from his head and reminds himself of what’s very quickly become his mantra over the past few months. You will not make your housemate into your rebound.
It had sounded so logical when Quinlan had suggested it. So easy to agree to.
“Thanks,” Anakin says, turning to face him. It’s awkward. Anakin hasn’t thanked him for putting the children to bed for months.
“Of course,” Obi-Wan replies, coming into the room completely. “I--”
“I--” Anakin starts, but cuts himself off when Obi-Wan speaks. “You go.”
“Ah,” Obi-Wan stutters. “Well. I. I meant to say. That I...I understand. Obviously. If you were to. Want to leave. You must have had time by now to...have found a place that could. Better fit your needs.”
Anakin clears his throat. “I guess,” he says. “Yeah. I’ve. I’ve looked.”
“You have?” he asks, much too quickly and with much too much painful interest dripping off the words. “And have you? Found a place?”
Anakin hesitates and looks askance at the frames on the fireplace. “No,” he admits. “Not a place that’s. That’s anything like here.”
Obi-Wan’s smile feels so forced on his face that it actually hurts to hold. “I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, Anakin.”
Anakin looks at him as if he’s lost touch with reality. “Obi-Wan, come on, you have to know.”
Obi-Wan stays quiet. He doesn’t know anything. Just a day ago he had wondered absentmindedly how they were going to deal with a teenaged Luke and Leia both wanting the singular second floor bathroom in the mornings before school.
And now--well.
“You have to know,” Anakin insists in the face of Obi-Wan’s silence. “I would stay here. If it were up to just me.”
“If not you then who is it up to, Anakin?” he begs and then tries to pretend that he isn’t begging by rubbing a hand over his beard and turning away. He’s faced immediately with a picture of the twins on Christmas morning, passed out in the foreground as Obi-Wan is in the background trying to put together one of their new toys.
It had been one of the most frustrating mornings of his life. He wouldn’t trade it for the world.
“Do you...do you really think...that I don’t--that I hate the twins? Anakin, you have to know I love them--”
“No, I’m sorry,” Anakin quickly says. “I never said that, Luke was just--he--”
“He made his own conclusions,” Obi-Wan finishes.
The other man nods gratefully. “Obi-Wan, I know you love the kids, I know you do. It’s not. It’s not the kids.”
“So if it’s not you, and it’s not the children, it must be me,” Obi-Wan concludes dully. Of course. Of course it’s him.
Anakin doesn’t immediately say no, and that pause is enough of an admittance that Obi-Wan has to pause to take several deep breaths to regain his composure.
“You’ll get tired of it,” Anakin finally says quietly. “You never signed up for us, for this for this long. I don’t want to impose. I--” he turns away to stare at the mantle, where a picture of the four of them after one of the twins’ school plays sits proudly in the middle. “I don’t want to see you growing to resent m--us. You shouldn’t have to tell us to leave. It’s your house.”
“Anakin, if you think it’s just my house still, after all these months, then I don’t know what to tell you,” Obi-Wan scoffs. “Other than to look around. “There’s stains on the ceiling I didn’t put there, we never managed to get Leia’s crayon drawings fully off the walls in the hallway, and I can’t walk twenty paces without tripping over some sort of mechanical part I have no idea what to do with if I try to pick it up off the floor. I haven’t thought of this as my house in months.”
Anakin ducks his head, as if he’s being scolded. “I’m sorry,” he says, barely louder than a whisper.
“I’m not,” Obi-Wan wants to yell, but he’s mindful of the children asleep just a floor away. He walks closer to Anakin instead, and speaks with a quiet sort of intensity. “I’m not, Anakin. And if you leave, it will still not be my house. It will just be--”
He purses his lips and sets his jaw.
“What?” Anakin asks, coming forward to meet him in the middle of the room. His hand twitches as if he wants to reach out and touch Obi-Wan, but he doesn’t.
Obi-Wan shakes his head and swallows, but he figures he’s already committed to this sort of confession. There’s nowhere else to go from here. “A house I live in,” he admits quietly. “A big, quiet place that I’ll dread coming home to.”
Anakin looks speechless, and Obi-Wan tries to smile. He can’t--he shouldn’t pressure Anakin. He’s said his position. If Anakin truly had only been afraid of overstaying his welcome, surely Obi-Wan has assuaged those fears.
But the fact that he hasn’t said anything must certainly mean that Anakin harbors other reservations. Ones he doesn’t want to share with Obi-Wan.
Very well.
“I will not...pressure you,” he tells the man. “I understand. I do. I--”
Anakin cuts him off and grabs his shoulder. “Obi-Wan, I want to. The children want to. I don’t want to leave. I’ve never had…”
Obi-Wan waits on tenterhooks for the end of the sentence, as Anakin searches for the words.
“...a home that feels like this,” Anakin finishes quietly, his hand slipping off Obi-wan’s shirt. Obi-Wan misses the muted heat of the touch immediately.
“Then don’t leave,” he pleads, crowding forward into Anakin’s space. “Anakin, stop looking. Would it help...would it help to quiet your fears if we were to draw up some sort of lease?”
“A lease?” Anakin asks, sounding strange as he looks down at Obi-Wan.
“Just something that says we’ll talk about this every year. To check in and make sure we both still want to live here?” Obi-Wan knows his answer won’t change. Probably won’t ever change. But if it’ll help calm Anakin, he’ll sign whatever.
Anakin seems to think about this for a minute, mouth pursed and eyes downcast. Obi-Wan wants to thumb at the moue of his lips, wants to press against his wrinkled brow until the skin smooths out.
No.
No.
“Alright,” Anakin finally agrees. “We can draw up...a lease tomorrow then. But it won’t be legally binding, alright? As soon as you want us out, tell me and I’ll start looking. Please, Obi-Wan. That’s my only condition.”
Anakin’s only condition to stay is that Obi-Wan will tell him as soon as he wants him to leave?
Does the other man know the extent that Obi-Wan would have tried to go to convince Anakin to stay?
“Alright,” he says, instead of anything else he’s thinking. “Of course. Tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow,” Anakin repeats. “Okay. Um,” he backs up. “Goodnight then, Obi-Wan.”
Obi-Wan reaches out and grasps his wrist as soon as he turns to leave. He doesn’t know why. He just. He wants. He doesn’t want to see Anakin go yet. The idea of being alone right now terrifies him in a sort of undefinable way.
“Sit with me?” He says, instead of what he really wants to say, which is thank you, thank you, thank you.
Anakin gives him a sort of half-smile that’s impossible to read. “Sure,” he replies. “I’d like to hear about your day.”
Obi-Wan winces, thinking about how much of his day was spent fretting in Quinlan Vos’ office. “Oh, I’m not entirely sure about that, dear one,” he laughs self-deprecatingly, and Anakin’s smile grows, and Obi-Wan knows that everything is going to be okay.
#u know what#i've noticed in my writing#that i'm just too southern to always pull of obi-wan#the other snippet said something about butter not melting in his mouth#and this one says god's green earth#but i was like 'i Do Not Know How Else To Phrase This'#asks#KUWSK#they finally talk a bit#i think the struggle with them is that both of them think they have the most to lose#which means neither of them wants to risk saying anything#in case they lose something#which is just what i love the most about mutual pining and idiots in love#so im glad it's the dynamic in KUWSK

A day and a half before the Grand Coronation
“So, you’re telling me that Earth is… round?”
“Yes.”
“No tortoise?”
“No.”
“No elephants?”
“No.”
“And that big snake thing going around the world, that the Easterners talk about?”
“Not there.”
“And the tree? The Northerner’s world-bearing tree?”
“Sorry.”
I pause. The absurdity of it all matches the dreams where I get chased by shoes. No elephants! And how can the Earth be round? Wouldn’t everyone fall off? Wouldn’t the oceans spill out?
The two sergeants of the Flip-Flop’s army, as they introduced themselves, give each other tired looks and go on the second round of explanations.
“If you’re wondering why things stay in place, that’s because of gravity. It’s the force that attracts smaller objects to larger objects. Earth is big, so you don’t fall off.”
Well, that sounds like an extremely made-up reason.
“And the firmament? It’s just a lot of nothing? And there are other planets like Earth there?”
“Yes, you’ve got it” Biological Organism class B number 2786-something, or Bob for short squeezes out a smile.
“You know, you should really try your hand at writing plays. Comedies, especially. I’m sure you’d gather an audience.”
“Aah, I can’t. I just- why us?” Bof (Biological Organism class F number 126-and so on) grabs his head, rocking side to side in frustration.
“They’re the only candidate, and we don’t have much time left. We won’t have to deal with this for much longer, anyway. After we bring them to the Capital, we'll just plug them into an AITM and be done with all of this,” Bob pats him on the back, trying to calm him down.
“AITM?” I ask
“Automatic Information Transferring Machine,” Bob explains or at least tries to. It doesn’t make things any clearer.
“So, let’s return to the whole Emperor thing. Are you sure you're not mistaken? I mean, the prophecies I heard are normally pretty vague. You could’ve gotten the wrong person.”
Without saying a word, Bob pulls out a small, flat box from one of the many pockets of her… what did she call it? Space-suit? The box unfolds into something that looks like a scroll, with my face painted on it. No, it's too accurate to be a painting. I can see everything. If I tried, I could probably count the hair on my head.
“This is what the person we’re looking for should look like. I hope you can see the resemblance,” Bob says.
I stare at it, trying to find a difference. A misplaced mole, a difference in hair color, anything. Reddish-brown hair, brown eyes, a pointed chin, a small mole under the lips. A complete match. The face in the picture looks much more serious than mine, but I suppose that’s what an Emperor should look like.
“So what are the risks? Is there a mutiny brewing? Are the Emperors hanged every two years or something?” I ask, staring right at them. For a brief second, their tired expressions harden, a fake smile flashing over Bob’s face, Bof hiding his worry under a mask of anger.
“Who do you think we are? Savages?? We respect and protect our Emperor, their lives are full of pleasure, and their subjects are concerned about them as much as the Emperor is concerned about their subjects!” Bof booms, his anger a tad too extreme, faintly theatrical.
“My apologies, I did not mean to disrespect your traditions!” I bow, courtesy oozing out of my voice, “now, could you tell me a bit more about that ‘space-travel’?”
After all, a trap where an empire is bait is a trap worth stepping in.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
That was what you've been muttering to yourself for the past two hours on your way back home and basically ever since you turned your back on him. Literally. Because you are that bad at controlling your emotions for some reason.
So as a way to punish yourself, you ended up popping into the nearest convenience store to your apartment and getting chocolates and sweet bakery because you… needed it. You had been dying to put something sweet into your mouth, so it could be hardly taken as a punishment, but you did find it as unnecessary expense, plus you were already halfway through looking like an elephant. But wow, what a sucky day, yucks.
It was one thing to be a little jealous about that girl, and a completely different thing to become cold towards Baekhyun and not even tell him what was bothering you. He didn't deserve that and you felt extremely guilty, to the point that you just entered your quiet, loving home and felt like crying like a baby.
Changing into comfy clothes, you didn't even bother with folding them, instead throwing them into the laundry basket, too preoccupied with your own guilt. Plus, your sweat pants felt tighter and uncomfortable around your thighs. How annoying. You needed to spend even more money now for the stupid XXXXXL size that you were slowly becoming.
You could bet that Jiyoung girl had the smallest size waist-
“Ah, stop it!” you shouted into nothing, tired of yourself and the whirlwind of emotions that you became. How was it possible to switch between emotions this fast? Your period wasn't the kindest but thankfully it was rarely painful and you only had terrible cravings instead of mood swings but this pregnancy was too much.
And in that moment, everything was getting on your nerves. You losing your job. You wanting to surprise your boyfriend. Him smiling like that at another woman. Him smiling. Seriously, why was he even smiling?! You weren't even there, so how dared he smile? Oh, and yeah that woman next to your man! You declining his request to stay until he was done. You should have stayed. You should have stayed and support him, enjoy the way he was doing his passion and maybe you would have understood what that Jiyoung girl was doing. Was she even a student?
You sighed. You wouldn't know. If she would have been a student, you didn't think she would dare to come collect him from his girlfriend like that.
You threw yourself into the softness of your pillows, chocolate bar in your mouth as you took a small bite and let your angry tears fall. This was so not you. This wasn't the strong, independent woman and if you would keep up this game, Baekhyun would notice too. He would see the faults in you.
“Stop thinking, you brat,” you warned yourself. “Stop it! Don't think! Just don't!”
And the worst?! You couldn't even touch your bump in that moment, you were that disgusted. It was all fault of the babies; they were making you like this, creating problems where there weren't any!
Before you could wallow even more, your phone rang. Scrambling quickly to get it in hopes to see Baekhyun's photo as your caller ID, you were surprised to see your mother's name dancing on the screen. That could only mean some bad news as you rarely talked. The last time you talked was nearly a month ago when she was checking up on you and your pregnancy and making sure Baekhyun was there for you.
Ignoring the way your hands were shaking, you answered the phone, feeling a bit of adrenaline rush in your blood causing slight dizziness. It'd been a while you felt lightheaded like this.
“Mum?”
“Hi, daughter,” she gasped, her voice gentle as always. “How are you? It's been a month almost, thought I'd check up on you.”
And there it all went. You started to wail at that question right away, unable to bear your mother's gentle voice. You didn't even realize how much you missed having a mother figure in this period of life, when she could give you advice, guidance and especially deep understanding.
“Are you crying?” she quipped, surprised at the sniffles that would soon follow with stifled sobs. “Oh, my, why are you crying? Is it the hormones?”
Well, was it the hormones? you asked yourself, but you were so incredibly clueless and so incredibly frustrated because of everything that you couldn't get a proper reply. “Ye-yes,” you hiccuped as hot tears streamed down your face. It was that type of crying where you just couldn't stop, the hysterical sobs needing to be let out, tears seeming to have an infinite storage somewhere inside of you.
Your mother sighed, but you imagined her affectionate gaze. “I understand. Although I don't know to what extent is having three babies burdening, any pregnancy is extremely difficult on your body, honey. Just let it all out and don't dwell too much on what is the reason. You don't need it now, so just let it out.”
At that you had to hide your face in the pillow and let out a little wail, because her words were warming you up so much, yet she was far away from you. Oh, dear, she had no clue what a rollercoaster of a ride you had put yourself and your boyfriend through, so you basically had every reason to have these feelings. She didn't even know you had been sacked. That was the reason you were crying, right?
“Is Baekhyun there?” your mother kept on going when she knew you wouldn't give her a coherent answer.
You hiccuped again, trying to make your mouth move. “N-no. Wo-worki-ing.”
“It's almost late evening, though,” she muttered to herself.
It was just 6pm, but the elders always had the specialty of saying “it's late in the night” when it was barely 8pm. You tried to smile at her antics, but it was painful. Because your boyfriend wasn't home. He was at that stupid training of his with stupid women that had to take the stupid hapkido class.
“What did you have for lunch-”
“I got sacked today,” you blurted suddenly and sniffed back big time, not even listening to her words.
“What do you mean you got sacked today?”
“Just exactly what I said. I am jobless.”
“How did you get sacked? You were promoted not long ago.”
You let out a loud breath, your lungs aching from all the crying. It just made more tears well up in your eyes again. “I had an idiot of a boss.” You should have definitely said it was all your fault, but currently you were feeling like the biggest loser in the world. “So it was better like this anyway. I can't even do much, soon I will be huge and… useless.”
Your mother tsked disapprovingly as you heard some shuffling in the background. “What is this silly talk, daughter. What did Baekhyun say?”
You gritted your teeth. “Why do you always ask about him?! He was happy I got sacked, okay?”
“Alright, alright, no need to shout at your mother.”
“But I don't want to talk about Baekhyun right now, so stop asking me!”
“Oh, I understand now,” she replied back nonchalantly, and some creaking noise provided just the perfect background. “As long as you think you can manage…”
“Yes, I can manage.”
“You and Baekh-”
“Don't.”
She sighed and you heard fire. She was probably warming up dinner in the kitchen. “Did he do something?”
You opened your mouth to retort but were stopped, because YES was your personal answer but NO was the fact. You wiped your tears quickly. “No. I mean... “ you trailed off and rolled yourself on your back, staring at the ceiling. “No.”
“Well then why are you so sensitive? I am trying to see what is wrong and you clearly have an issue with him. You can tell me honestly. Or don't.”
Just then you heard the code being typed in the entrance door, sign of Baekhyun arriving. You groaned loudly and stood up quickly to close the bedroom door before he could get in and have an easy access to bedroom but it was a wrong idea. Seeing black spots everywhere, you felt like your entire body just gained another 40 kilograms as an invisible weight pulled down on your shoulders making you stumble back into the mattress, the world spinning with along with you rather fast.
“I'll call you back,” you murmured softly into the phone and threw it away into the blanket somewhere, trying to make your head calm down.
Baekhyun called out your name, announcing his arrival but you felt like throwing up. You groaned as quietly as possible, scrunching up your face in hopes of stopping this terrible attack. Cold sweat made its way down your neck and you shivered as you felt a huge bulge in your stomach. But you were so extremely disoriented you could barely open your eyes let alone make it to the bathroom in time.
“Baekhyun,” you called out, “please bring me the bucket from the-” gulp, gulp, gulp.
Baekhyun walked into the bedroom but when he saw you his eyes went wide. “What is wrong? Hey, hey, what's- shit,” he cursed when he heard the familiar noise, and ran to the bathroom to get the little pink bucket as you gagged, trying to get on your fours, looking extremely shaken up. Tears were streaming down your face, your knees and arms trembling violently before you saw two feet clad in white socks and then bucket pushed into your face as Baekhyun reached for you with his other hand to keep your balance up. “Shh, c'mon, let it out. Don't keep it back,” he murmured urgently and sweeped the hair that was plastered to your forehead and cheeks away, noticing the snot and flushed cheeks. Just then, finally, you let it all out. Your throat was on fire but your head kept pulling you in one direction into which you would have easily fell if it weren't for the safety of Baekhyun's arms. “Shh, you're doing well.”
Although not seeing his face, you knew he was tense and probably wondering what made you this terribly sick when food and spit kept constantly coming out until it became just violent gagging, nothing able to come out anymore, only caused by your head spinning so much it triggered your stomach. Wasn't it just today that you were thankful for not having to go through this again?
You calmed down after another couple of minutes, completely spent. “Baekhyun,” you murmured, afraid to open your eyes. He hummed as he took the bucket to the side, and looked at you closely as he brought his other hand to your pale face, wiping the tears away. “I'm very dizzy.”
“Look at me, baby,” he murmured, frowning a little and wanting to check the focus in your eyes.
You shook your head ever so gently before your lower lip trembled. “I can't… please,” you said just as you were about to crash on him again, the invisible pull still there.
“Okay. Lay down for me, can you do that?” he asked gently. “I will help you move now, don't get startled.” And he did so, pushing on your shoulders a bit, helping you lie down. He took all the pillows on the bed and put your head under them, by then knowing very well what to do when you got into this kind of situation. “Keep your head up for me, and your knees too,” he whispered and patted your straightened-out legs. You did as he said and heard him move around the room before he came back with the little machine, pushing your arm through the hole to measure your blood pressure.
“Don't cry, sweetheart,” you heard him whisper as he tried to catch every single teardrop while the machine was working. He looked around for a glass of water which, of course, you didn't have.
“I feel like hell,” you said, your voice raw.
Baekhyun was thankful your eyes were closed, for he didn't want you to witness how worried and scared he was. Yes, you did get dizzy and many times sick, but to this extent? Never. He was already thinking three steps ahead, fishing his phone out of his pocket.
Beeping sound brought you back to the reality and Baekhyun checked, murmuring the results out loud, his frown now deep. “We are going to the hospital,” he decided.
“No!” you shouted, opening your eyes to look at him but you almost saw three Baekhyuns. Usually, you wouldn't mind but it made you want to throw up again. You were fast to close them, scrunching your face. “Please,” you sobbed, scared. “Make it stop! But don't call anyone!”
Baekhyun was already calling ambulance, leaving the room in case you would have a tantrum. He knew your blood pressure was skyrocketing and it made him worried sick; he didn't know what to do. Plus, he was told by your doctor that if your blood pressure reaches a certain level, you were eligible to call for ambulance.
As much as he hated you crying and going through this, he was there with you, every single step at a time.
-
“She will be alright,” said the doctor that was in the emergency room, checking your vitals on his clipboard. “She needs to rest for now, but,” he shook his head gently and looked up at Baekhyun whose eyes were bulging in fear of what was to come. “Her blood pressure was too high. It isn't good for the patient, neither it is good for the pregnancy.”
“What does that mean?”
He shrugged. “Well, it is very likely that she will have to endure this until she gives birth. Triplet pregnancy is a bit different than the usual ones. Since premature birth is highly possible to happen, which also may affect the health of the children, her not monitoring stress levels or taking good care of her body may also influence the health of the kids.” He sighed. “She is bearing a lot right now, so there are high risks of her fainting if this continues. As you told me, she had been struggling with high blood pressure this whole time, correct?”
Baekhyun nodded quickly.
“Well, she is in the fifteenth week which means almost half-way through till due date… It should have subsided by now but we can't do anything to change it; only give medication, unfortunately. Multiples' pregnancy is full of surprises.”
Baekhyun felt so helpless in that moment. Why did he get the feeling the doctor was clueless in a way too?
“Will she survive?” he asked seriously.
The doctor smiled gently. “She is completely healthy, so there is no risk of her losing her life, but this was definitely a dangerous situation. She shouldn't be left alone for too long as this occurs unexpectedly. It is rare anyway to have such strong reaction to high blood pressure, but this is what it takes to live for three more lives, I suppose.”
Oh, how Baekhyun wished he could take at least half of the burden you were bearing.
The doctor patted him twice on the shoulder before leaving. He looked at you, your sleeping figure so peaceful compared to couple of hours ago when you looked white as death and just about to pass out.
Sighing, he reached for your hand, gently squeezing it before murmuring a soft I love you. You were going through all of this because of him. He made you pregnant and now here you were, fighting for four lives: the unborn babies and your own.
His phone vibrating was what interrupted his train of thoughts. Quickly searching for it in his winter jacket, he saw your mother's name flashing on the screen, bad feeling already eating him away. Should he tell her where you were now? He would only make her worried.
“Hello, mother,” he answered, trying to make his voice as normal and even as possible while stroking your knuckles with is thumb.
“Oh, thank God you picked up, Baekhyun! I've been contacting my daughter for the past hour and she wouldn't answer. Are you with her now?”
Gulping, he said: “Yes. She is, uh, sleeping now.”
“Silly girl. I called her earlier today to check up on her and caught her in a bad state of mind,” she explained, her voice sounding exasperated. “She kept crying but wouldn't tell me why. This is none of my business, my dear, but did you two have a fight?”
Surprised was an understatement to Baekhyun. First of all, you didn't necessarily fight, it was your weird mood that created negative tension between you two but it was certainly not a fight; second of all he had no clue you were having such a mood prior to his arrival although he did see your swollen face and eyes. “No, we didn't have a fight. She has been acting strangely today, that is true. She lost her job and maybe the hormones and all…” he trailed off, trying to justify your actions though he himself wasn't sure.
“Yes, she told me she lost her job, but to me it didn't seem like that was her main issue. Let me be honest with you, Baekhyun,” she said and Baekhyun didn't have a good feeling about what was to come. “She didn't even want to hear your name. I don't know what exactly happened between you two, but it would be healthy if you both talk. You know she cannot get this upset while being pregnant. She was choking on her own sobs.”
Baekhyun closed his eyes and left your hand so he could pinch the bridge of his nose. Just what the hell was up with you? “She came to visit me at the university today, but she had such a change of mood, mother. I was shocked myself and I try to understand, I really do but it has been difficult recently.” Let alone she was lying to me, he thought but kept quiet.
Your mother sighed again; she trusted Baekhyun and wasn't doubtful about him at all. She also knew what pregnancy mood swings meant, so she was not blaming entirely you just as she knew Baekhyun could have been falsely accused. She knew him ever since he was a baby after all. “I understand, sweetie, and I am not blaming you at all. I will let you rest. I know you also don't have it easy, dear,” she added, affection lacing her voice, “so please I just ask you to have some patience with her for now. She can be a handful.”
“I do, mother, you know I do,” replied Baekhyun right away, looking at your sleeping face. “I can't get mad at her even if I want to.”
At that she laughed. “My sweet boy. I hope I can call you my son-in-law very soon.”
“Actually yes. Sooner than later.”
-
You found yourself seated on the wooden bench, a book about multiples' pregnancy perched on your thighs while you tried hard not to stare at your boyfriend clad in his hapkido uniform.
He was currently leading his class with Jiyoung, the girl because of whom it all went downwards. Bitterly, you stopped yourself from blaming it on someone like her. It wasn't her fault. Why, you ask? Because…
Few days ago
“Can you explain to me what happened on Monday?” murmured Baekhyun as you were both lying in bed, the dimmed light on his side still on, as he just finished going through his notes from the previous lectures. It made you resent yourself even more knowing how much he had on his plate, yet you couldn't even control your emotions as soon as he stood next to a pretty lady or he looked at you weirdly.
You sighed, rubbing your temple as you were lying on your back. Baekhyun turned his head to look at you, pausing, contemplating. Then, he slowly changed positions, lying on his right side, his hand slowly dragging on the surface of the mattress, reaching your hip and sliding it up over your belly that was sticking out, giving it gentle rubs as he waited patiently for you to talk.
“I won't get mad,” he had the need to add which made you scoff, and him chuckle.
“It's so fucking stupid, Baekhyun, and don't say I can't swear while being pregnant.”
He frowned gently. “Well, it obviously made you upset,” he argued, “so it cannot be fucking stupid.”
He saw you gritting your teeth, and he slid his gaze over your profile, how the light was illuminating the part of your face to which he was turned to. He honestly thought you looked breathtaking and would have kissed you whole night if it weren't for the confusion he was currently feeling. In that moment, he wanted answers more than anything.
“What is Jiyoung-” you trailed off and Baekhyun raised an eyebrow, “to you? To your class? To… hapkido?” Asking, instead of answering him. Great. Although, you weren't expecting silence that followed. You imagined him chuckling at your ridiculousness but he didn't. He didn't and it almost made you lose yourself once again, but he spoke: “She is a master like me,” he spoke softly, and you focused on his warm hand sliding over your belly. You turned your head a little to catch his gaze that was already burning holes on your face. “I didn't tell you until I was sure, which I became on Monday, but then things happened…”
“Sure about what?”
“I am leading the hapkido universiade team with her, but I am the main master,” he revealed, his face still in a gentle frown. “She was assigned to do it together with me, so that is why she was there during practice, too. And she will be from now on until July.”
“But is she like a teacher at Sungkyunkwan or something?”
He shook his head. “She is from Kyunghee university where she is the head of department. There was a joint alliance with them for the hapkido team and also, if we win this, I might have a chance to work with the National team later on,” he explained patiently, not tearing his gaze away from yours.
So many things you were founding out, so many good news. That meant Jiyoung was older than Baekhyun! That was definitely good news! And you ruined it all on Monday and you completely misunderstood the entire situation.
“Baekhyun,” you whispered, closing your eyes. Humming in response, he now caressed your cheek, his thumb making slow circles. “I'm so sorry. For being the way I was. What you just said,” you stuttered, opening your eyes, urgency in them, “is all amazing news and I couldn't be any more proud of you.”
“Shh, it's okay, princess,” he whispered, scooting closer to your side.
“No,” you shook your head, “I thought… I was… jealous, so jealous. I shouldn't have let the emotions control me like that. I shouldn't have just left you like that. I apologise,” you said sincerely, staring into his eyes that were now casted in shadow as he was with his back towards the light. Yet, the burning behind his eyes could hardly go unnoticed by you.
“You are so mean when you are jealous,” he blurted, intending to make you chuckle which he succeeded in, but then it disappeared just as quickly and you nudged his cheek with your nose to get more out from him. He sighed, eventually. “You know you can trust me, right? You know I would never want to lose your trust despite you lying to me.”
At that, you whimpered, pouting and widening your eyes at him, still terribly ashamed for what you had done.
“It's okay, I am not holding grudges,” he insisted, “but you know I can't stand you not trusting me, hm? I already know I want to spend the rest of my life with you and with our kids,” he murmured and at that he caressed the belly yet again as he buried his face in your neck, sending goosebumps down your spine. “So why do I have a feeling you keep doubting me?”
You stiffened, but his caresses didn't cease, which meant he wasn't upset. You raised your hand, playing with his hair as you mumbled: “No, I don't doubt you at all. It's the hormones. It's the babies. You know that before getting pregnant we were just fine.”
“I know,” he whispered, his hot breath fanning the skin on your pulse point, “it is always the babies fault, right?”
“Please.”
“Please, what?” he asked, curious as he pulled back to look at your face.
“Just… I apologise, Baekhyun.”
His eyes searched your gaze. “And I forgive you. But you need to promise me you won't get so worked up over nothing in the future.”
“I won't.”
“By nothing I mean anything. If it isn't a life or death situation, I don't want you to pay it too much attention.”
You watched his mouth move as he spoke, going on about what the doctor said, what the books said about triplet pregnancy, what he thought would be the best for you. And you tried to listen, you really did, but you were head over heels for him; he was mesmerizing and he understood your crazy whirlwind of emotions, and you loved him. So much.
“Are you listening?” he asked, snapping his fingers two times in front of your face. “Young lady, you keep zoning out on me.”
You smiled at his playful manner and he reciprocated the gorgeous grin as he leaned in closer. “I am listening, I am. I just realised once again how much I love you, Baekhyun.”
His grin turned into an affectionate, lopsided smile and he eyed your lips before flicking his orbs back to yours, murmuring your name. “And I love you. Do you understand? I love you. Only you. Can you actually understand?”
“No,” you whispered, dreamy look on your face as you were bewitched by him. He shook his head, and reached for your face, brushing the baby hair out of your forehead. “It's difficult to get it through my thick head that someone like you loves someone like me.”
“How would I make you understand then?”
“Show me. I want you to kiss me, it's been too long.”
He leaned in more, his eyes constantly flicking between your lips and your eyes as he muttered with narrowed eyes: “You're horny again, aren't you?”
You let out a breathy laugh as you sneaked your hands around his neck, bringing him closer. “For you? Always.”
He chuckled just as he kissed you, smiling widely into your mouth before playing with your lower lip, going straight for a gentle bite that he knew would ignite the fire in you.
“Are we doing another make-up sex?” he murmured between kisses, slowly climbing over you and you gladly widened your legs for him.
“Uh-uh, you're making love to me because you need to show me you love me.”
He kissed your neck, laughing quietly. “You're shameless.”
“So are you. Now, do your magic, honey.”
And now here you were, as per his order, watching him. As you would be every week whenever he wasn't home. If he could have, he would have dragged you to all his lectures as well, but you managed to talk him out of it. Honestly, you didn't mind this at all, as you really enjoyed observing him teaching hapkido and doing all the cool moves he was so smooth at doing. It was true you would get tired and wooden bench was only so comfortable for you to sit through couple of hours.
During the break, Baekhyun jogged to you with an energetic smile and leaned in to give you a quick peck. “You good over here?” he asked as his team erupted in big laughters, everyone enjoying their break time.
You beamed up at your boyfriend. “Yes, all fine.”
He smiled even wider at that, ruffling your hair as he looked down on the book in your lap. “Is it any good?”
“Well, for sure although I'm learning some disturbing stuff,” you muttered, worry flashing through your eyes that made Baekhyun raise his eyebrows.
“We will finish in 50 minutes and then you can tell me all about it, how is that?” he asked gently, and grabbed your cheeks to observe you closer.
You giggled and he seemed satisfied. “Alright, let's do that.”
He was just leaning in for another kiss when someone cleared their throat muttering a little excuse me, making Baekhyun move away from you. “Jiyoung.”
“Sorry to disturb, but I think it would be better if we stay longer today. For practice, I mean,” she said, her eyes wandering over to you and a bit lower, obviously looking at the baby bump. She snapped her eyes back at Baekhyun's questioning face. “It's better if we start going through basic kicks now, just so the kids can remember each technique correctly and from then build on it.”
You watched Baekhyun's back, but he was relaxed. “The kids are black belts, 4-5 dans in at least, though,” he replied diplomatically, “I don't see the point in going through basic kicks. Techniques should come to them as second nature by now.”
“I still think we should start having longer practices,” she insisted. “So your girlfriend might be a bit uncomfortable sitting here for such a long time.”
Wow, you thought, she was actually dragging you into this somehow. Interesting.
“I don't mind,” you heard yourself say before you could think twice. “So do whatever you deem correct.”
“Not today, no,” Baekhyun decided. “After December we will be good with longer practices if necessary,” he emphasized. “If we don't slack off, we can manage just fine.”
She gave a confident smile. “Alright then. I suppose you won't mind if we start the class now.”
What a bitch, you thought again.
“I won't mind. You may start,” was Baekhyun's curt nod and he turned around to face you, his actions heating your cheeks up as he crouched in front of you and took your hands in his before bringing them up to his lips.
“Alright, master.” And she was gone.
“What are you doing?” you whisper-shouted, but the excited glint in your eyes told Baekhyun you loved what he just pulled.
“Prioritizing you.”
You smiled graciously, and leaned in, pecking his lips.
-
Couple of weeks went by, you following Baekhyun to his practice, while you were found your way back to knitting that you so diligently used to do when you were younger, your mum teaching you as a little girl. Trying hard not to sound annoyed or desperate for any activity, you made sure you were always smiling and at peace in your mind. You promised your boyfriend you would look after yourself and that was what you had been trying to do. You even managed to sell some of the scarfs and gloves you knitted, given it was now nearing the end of December.
You smiled up at Baekhyun who dismissed the class, not waiting until Jiyoung and the students leave. “Ready to go?”
“Yes,” he replied, some perspiration on his forehead glistening in the practice room. “Can't wait to have a rest.”
You stood up to your feet slowly, minding your blood pressure, and reached for a handkerchief before grabbing his hand so he wouldn't move away. “Let me,” you murmured as you reached up and tapped the textile gently along his hairline.
His eyes focused down on you, affection and love melting his features into the softest smile. “Thank you.”
“We don't want daddy to catch a cold, right?” you chirped enthusiastically.
Baekhyun quirked an eyebrow at you, never hearing the nickname leave your mouth before. You would always get extremely embarrassed when he called you mummy, so this was a new discovery. “Yeah, otherwise how would daddy protect mummy, hm?”
Just as expected, you grew red in your face and quickly looked around, making sure no one was too near to overhear.
“What? You started,” he laughed quietly before leaning in to kiss your cheek, leaving it with a loud smooch and moisture on your skin. “Mummy.”
Your eyes widened and you laughed along with him before he moved to pack up his stuff. All the students who were now leaving farewelled cheerfully, always enjoying how flustered you would get from the attention, because master Baekhyun's girlfriend is so cute! and of course, he would encourage them, showing you off, which always warmed your heart.
“Not tired?”
You turned to the right to see Jiyoung approaching, a glass bottle in her hand as her high ponytail swung with each step she made. “I'm okay, thank you. Aren't you tired?”
“Nope,” she said, the p sound bopping like a bubble. “Master Baekhyun has been a bit slacking off with the workouts, eh?” she chuckled, nudging Baekhyun who was putting on his jacket with her elbow.
“Well, I can always make it especially hard for you, Jiyoung,” was his confident reply.
Oh my god, he was so hot you actually had to cross your legs while standing.
She smirked. “I would love to finally find out what does this especially hard mean, master.”
Well, you definitely didn't find her confidence hot. If anything, you wanted to warn her not to challenge Baekhyun too much.
“Alright, especially hard it is then,” he concluded just as he zipped up his jacket and took his gym bag, slugging it over his shoulder.
Jiyoung's eyes sparked with excitement, you could see that. It was always there, actually. Coming to the practices with him for two weeks, you kind of learnt to read her. She was a professional, you knew that much. She wasn't openly hitting on your boyfriend, no. It was in these subtle talks that irked you because you couldn't do anything about them, just tolerate and trust Baekhyun. Which, he really not once made you doubt - his trust. He would always prove you his love to you, and you to him. It was so obvious. He only had eyes for you.
Even now, as he stood in front of you, touching your hip gently and sliding his hand to your lower back to lead you out and saying his bye to the disappointed face of his hapkido partner, you knew it.
“Baekhyun,” you said once outside on the half-dead campus as you were making your way to the bus stop, the dark sky not showing any clouds which only meant another freezing night.
“Yes, angel.” He intertwined your fingers and pushed the connected hands into his pocket.
“I was thinking… What if I just went home?”
He stopped walking, looking at you a bit taken aback. “What do you mean?”
“I feel a bit useless, you know. But also quite tired from all of this,” you said showing your belly that was sticking out. “So I thought I would visit home.”
“But we have regular check ups at the clinic,” he replied, his eyes wandering over your features. His nose was growing a bit red which you found adorable, which is why you stood on your tippy toes and gave him a little peck on it.
“I know… but if I would miss one appoint-”
“No.”
“Baek-”
“You are not missing an appointment, baby,” he said, this time more sternly as he looked down at you, his hair that was trapped under a red beanie made his soft hair fall into his eyes.
You pressed your lips together, understanding his choice. “So, I would go only for two weeks.”
Something flashed across his eyes, something that you couldn't decipher. “What about me?”
Yes, what about Baekhyun? “You have lots on your plate right now,” you reasoned, squeezing his hand that was trapped in his pocket. “You could study better, and focus more on the practices. And, you could totally go and have a good time with your friends, or even invite them over, hm?”
“You actually think I would let you travel alone? With your blood pressure?”
“C'mon, by KTX it takes an hour and a half and then taxi just twenty minutes out of town.”
You felt like you were contradicting yourself. You, the one who was always trying to save up money was willing to pay a lot just to travel. KTX tickets were already very expensive. Taxis as well. But there was very little public transportation going to your village and you didn't feel like taking it with your big belly.
Baekhyun didn't say anything for a while, just staring at you. “Why this sudden- need?” is what he asked eventually.
“You know I miss mum,” you mumbled, averting your gaze.
“I know it's difficult,” he sighed, the action condensing his breath. “But I can't let you go by yourself, no way. Besides,” he added eagerly, “it's Korean new year soon. Can't you wait just a little longer? We both will be going home for that, you know that.”
He was right. It was literally around the corner.
“It's just in two weeks time, hm?” he asked, quirking his eyebrows at you, pleading to say yes. When he saw you contemplating, he mumbled: “I am not letting you go alone, anyway, so you better agree.”
You huffed in disbelief and dragged him towards the bus stop. “Let's go home. I will think about it.”
“Tomorrow we have a double-date with Chen's, did you forget that too?” he said as he let you drag him after you.
“No, I didn't. I would have gone the day after.”
“Well, you wouldn't leave me alone for such a long time, right?”
That made you stop and turn to him just to witness the puppy eyes and a prominent pout that made you smile softly at him as you walked even closer, resting your forehead on his jacket-clad chest. “I hate even the idea of not being with you for two weeks, Baekhyun.”
“Exactly. So just wait until we can go together, hm? Please? I don't want you to go. I can't even sleep without you anymore.”
You chuckled and leaned back, catching his small smile. “Alright. I think.”
He whined your name before he grabbed you by your waist with his free hand and brought your hips closer as he hovered a bit over you. “Alright, I won't go is what you wanted to say,” he muttered before kissing you hungrily. It was such a contrast; outside, the air was freezing, but your hot mouths pressed together, his body glued to yours as he breathed in loudly before tilting his head, asking for access with his eager tongue was hot, burning up. You moaned quietly, just for him to hear and he growled in response, a satisfactory hum leaving his throat while he circled your tongue, sucking on it, making you gasp because you were in public. He kissed you, and kissed you until you were completely breathless, until you were fully convinced that he didn't want you anywhere far from him. Even if it meant he could focus more on his practice, studies and whatever else you just listed. Even if it meant a short time.
He didn't want you away. And that was final.

Reading One Piece pt 188: New Bounties
Chapter 435
Thoughts:
- Fpos/cs: “I’m ashamed but I survived!” aww, what a funny little guy Enel blasted just now! I think he’s a soldier, with that helm and gun. He’s so tiny
- FRANKY! IS! MAKING! THE SHIP!
- Awwww, Iceberg and Galley-ga (remaining Three of The Big Five) will help him! (Good, he needs to go faster, marines won’t ignore Straw Hats forever)
- (hey, do you think Kaku will come back to Water Seven and become a shipwright for real? I wouldn’t mind reading Fpos/cs about that, drama and all)
- Newspaper! Frankies wait in anticipation!
- Lol, they wrote about Enies Lobby and Straw Hats but nothing about Frankies. They’re kind of relieved but kind of disappointed too :D you know, no life on the run BUT also no fame for them
- Sanji: “Yo, did your Grandpa tweak the info so Galley-ga and Frankies would be safe?”
Luffy and everyone: “Nope, not that guy”
- Well, Robin thinks it was Aokiji. I think so too but it’s also possible News Guys just didn’t find Frankies interesting enough for their newspaper :D Media are fickle like that :D
- (why is Sanji so pretty here. He’s not even drawn to be pretty right now, he’s just a background figure)
- Oh, Zoro is reading the newspaper too!
- “They did write some horrible things about us! It said that we declared war against the World Government, and that we were the reason that the island got burned down.” Well, it’s true. Plus points for good journalism, One Piece media
- “This means our bounties will rise again” YES THEY WILL :D :D :D
- (I’m making the same face Zoro is making right now :D We are both children inside)
- Everyone is happy about it too! (except Nami but I guess someone has to be a party pooper and it went to Nami to do the honors)
- Oh look, Straw Hats spend their 100M Beri on the feast in the last chapter (I knew it was super big). They’re poor again :D Nami is having an aneurysm
- Lol
- Straw Hats got five days of vacation :D
- (lol, Zoro tried to “buy” a new sword like last time in Logue Town but got yelled at instead. Remember to get Tashigi and go with her next time. We all know he would get new sword for free then :D)
- Usopp!
- …ok, first I yelled at his panel, then I actually read what he’s saying. Usopp, just say sorry like a normal person and that you miss them, Luffy would say the same (he could be a little more obnoxious tho)
- Oh! No, he’s practicing his speech to Straw Hats on the beach! Yeah, that situation is very anxiety inducing, I would be nervous about asking my friends to take me back too. I don’t envy you, Usopp, not one bit
- Still, you should just be honest, man. You’re all good eggs, you get each other
- (Sanji is watching Usopp being stupid :D)
- (ok, but how will that actually go down, I’m a little nervous myself)
- The log pose is ready. Now they’re just waiting for the ship
- Oh, the next island is Fishman Island!
- Nami has mixed feeling, because of her past with Arlong gang and stuff
- SANJI! WANTS! TO SEE! MERMAIDS!
- Lol
- Sanji, calm down, not all mermaids look like Kokoro :D
- Huh?
- “Florian Triangle” oh? It’s One Piece’s version of Bermuda Triangle! Straw Hats will have to sail there to get to Fishman Island!
- (It’s where they’ll meet Brook, right? The walking serenading skeleton?)
- Haha, there’s a skeleton on the next panel :D world’s most unsubtle foreshadowing :D
- There are also ghosts on that sea but I’m all about our skeleton grandpa and I don’t exactly care right now
- (Franky nakama WHEN)
- “I can meet living skeletons?” “What kind of thought is that?” Oh Zoro, thou of little faith :D
- “Bring on the disasters” YEAH, ALL OF THEM
- (“treasure ships… maybe they’ll have swords” Zoro really has a one track mind. I approve)
- !!!!!!
- SHIP IS DONE!
- BUT FIRST! THEY GOT WANTED POSTERS! ALL OF THEM!
- Ok, they’re all on one panel! You’re getting… ok, no, I’ll just put it here
- Woooooo!
- Ok, comments now:
300M Beri? Luffy, you dog :D I’m so proud
Zoro got 120M Beri, twice as much as before! Somehow I think he’ll want more :D
They finally updated Robin’s photo! That only took them, what, 20 years? But who’s counting, not me, nosir
(And she finally got a round number of 80M Beri. Her past 79M was annoying)
“Cat thief” Nami. How did they get such a sexy photo of her? Is that even what she was wearing on Enies Lobby? Can’t lie, she looks superhot
They got Sogeking, not Usopp :D 30M Beri? That’s what Luffy started at, bright future for you, Usopp :D
…Why is Chopper a PET HERE. And 50 Beri? 50 BERI!!??
Not to talk about elephant in the room but what the **** is Sanji’s poster.
…At least you’re worth 77M Beri, Sanji.
…May it let you sleep at night
- Straw Hats’ reaction: 3 happy, 3 in hell :D (Usopp’s not here)
- Sanji and Chopper are hilarious, they really did them dirty :D But I don’t know why Nami is despairing, her poster and bounty are great

The Sobbing Power Ranger : Part 2
Description: after the mess at Steph’s Halloween party, Y/N is left cooped up alone with her feelings. That is until one morning, Harry decided to visit her to talk about what’s gone wrong.
Warnings: angst!
(If you haven’t read part one, you will unfortunately have to find it because I am unable to tag it due to me not having a laptop.)
Y/N wasn’t going to lie, after the party at Steph’s, she felt like absolute shit. Walking home, just swamped in her emotions was horrible because she felt so weak and numb - that was mainly the colds fault. Or rather hers for not ordering an Uber back to hers. But it was tiring. She cried the whole way home, having to stop a couple of times so she could rest for a few minutes and let it all out before carrying on going home. The walk wasn’t even far, but her emotions were pulling her down, and it made the walk felt like it was lasting a lifetime. Steph had rang her, asking if she wanted a lift home, but Y/N politely declined and said that she just wanted to be alone. Everything had gone to shit, and she had lost her best friend also.
She hadn’t heard from him since the party, and it had been about two weeks. He had completely gone off the radar, apart from the odd photo by the paps. It was him with his sister and mother, so clearly they were in London.
It had hit her like a tonne of bricks the next day when she realised that Harry now knew that she was in love with him, her worst fear. All she could remember was the absolute dread in his eyes when he turned around and stared down at her, realising that all the stuff Haydn said was true, unfortunately. She partly understood why he’d be upset about it, but it did hurt her when he got so angry about it, which was the part she didn’t understand. Y/N thought that they were gonna go somewhere quiet and have talk about it, but how wrong she was. Now she was left alone with her feelings, which wasn’t the best thing for her.
If she’d take it all back, she would focus on not falling in love with her best friend.
Now, she was at home, and it was very early in the morning.
She had made herself a cup of tea, with three sugars which was unusual for her, as she normally took her tea without any sugar. Her sleep had regulated a little bit after losing so much due to her overthinking in the nighttime, which kept her up. It was a bad habit of hers, and when Harry would sleep round and she did it, he’d end up putting on a movie for her or just holding her until she fell back asleep. But, she only had herself now, as Steph had gone to America to see her sister who was studying over there.
Y/N takes her tea and goes into the living room, where the sun was peeking through the blinds and illuminating the cosy room. She grabbed the fluffy blanket that was on the loveseat, Harry’s favourite place to sit, and takes it to the main couch where she sits down and cuddles up underneath it. She only had one thing on her mind now, and that was binge watching Game Of Thrones for like the 10th time in the last year. Putting on season 4, she takes a sip of her tea and swallows it, feeling the hot liquid going down her throat and soothing it. Today was the day where she just wanted to forget about everything and chill, she was going to UberEats her breakfast, and then go out for a walk in Hyde Park later on.
A perfect day for her to just clear her head of all the things that she couldn’t rid of.
She had opted on texting Harry a few times, wondering if it would be best for her to apologise for to him for what’s happened and what she’s feeling.
One night she almost did text him - she had broke down that night, sobbing in bed because she didn’t have anyone to turn to. Y/N had debated on talking to her mum too, but she knew that she wouldn’t get it, and that she’d just give her some rubbish advice. She did love her mum, and her dad too, but God she was awful at giving advice. So, back to what had gone on with Harry. In her fits of sobs, she had gone for her phone and opened up Harry’s contact, typing out a text that said, ‘Haz I am so sorry for what happened. I feel awful for putting all of that on you. And I hope we can talk about it and see if we can work it all out,’ she had decided against putting ‘love you’ at the end. She just ended up deleting the text.
They were supposed to be best friends, but Y/N knew that she had fucked everything up.
With a little help from Haydn, unfortunately.
Halfway through the episode she was watching, she heard the front door open and her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach. She turns her head to look towards the door and yells a quick ‘Hello?’ to see who it was. No response came though. Her brows furrow as she hears shuffling coming closer to the door.
Is it mum and dad? She thinks to herself as she puts her cup of tea down on the table in front of her, sitting up in her seat, the blanket still hugging her.
Then her heart drops when the door opens.
Harry.
When he steps into the room, a look of shock passes over her face. His expression remains passive as he closes the door behind him, and that’s when Y/N notices the Power Ranger helmet and her black hoodie under his arm. He sits down on the couch, shrugging off his jacket and placing it behind him. It was a shock for Y/N, because she didn’t think that he would be the one to make the first move. She stares at him, completely captivated by everything he’s doing. Though, she noticed how tired he looked also. There was bags under his eyes, and he just visibly looked mentally and emotionally drained. He leans back in the seat, pulling one of his legs up to get a bit more comfortable. He doesn’t even crack a smile.
“You alright?” He asks softly, running a hand through his hair.
She shrugs. “Been a bit up and down, but yeah. I guess I’m alright. And yourself?”
“Fucking shattered,” he mutters, glancing to the TV for a second. “Rewatching it again?” He questions as he notices the show instantly. Y/N had tried to rope him into watching it with her, but he kept on falling asleep every time they got to the second episode of the first season. So she just ended up watching it alone. She nods her head, not caring that she hasn’t paused it. Background noise was needed in case any awkward silences occur. “I should watch it, y’know.”
She’s slightly confused as she wonders if he’s come round here and acted like nothings wrong because he wasn’t that bothered anymore. “H, you clearly didn’t come here to talk about the fact that you want to start watching Thrones. Because I already tried that with you, and it didn’t work. So tell me, why are you here?” She asks, her voice growing gentler as she gets to the end of her sentence. Harry’s sighs, his hand coming over his face as he throws it back lightly. He was hoping they could have a normal chat, but unfortunately they need to address the elephant in the room. As much as they were both scared about this talk, it was something that they needed to do.
“We need to talk,” he tells her, and she nods.
“I’m still shocked at what happened at the party, bab. Like, that was really unexpected,” he starts to explain to her, and all she could do was nod. She was feeling overwhelmed with emotions and she felt like crying, but she didn’t want to do it in front of Harry. He wouldn’t comfort her like usual. “It was something I never ever thought would happen. Steph tried to explain it to me and why it happened, I didn’t understand though. At least not her explanation, so that’s why I’m here. I need an explanation from you, I need you to tell me yourself how all this happened. Is that alright?” He asks, clearly needing the answer but not wanting to push the subject as he didn’t want to make Y/N upset. She then shuffles uncomfortably.
“I don’t know Haz,” she quietly tells him.
“Y/NN, please. I think I’m at least owed the answers I want.” He informs shortly.
She sighs, as she grabs her tea and takes another sip of it, glancing at Harry. He was staring at her intently, with sad eyes. “You know the night everything just went horribly wrong for me?” He nods, “It started then. The night I came to your house because I was literally on the verge of doing something bad, and I needed you to like, I don’t know. Talk me out of it I guess?” She almost asks herself the question. But the part about her needing him was right. She did need Harry that night, she needed him to just hold her and take the pain away. And that’s what he did.
“I don’t know why it was different that night, because we had always been close like that. And when I say that I mean we sleep in the same bed, cuddle, kiss each other on the cheeks and the forehead and stuff like that. Doing the stuff that couples do, just while being best friends, which I never minded. The only confusing thing was I did all the stuff with you like I did then, when I was with Haydn - so that’s where it all started. Haydn was good to me, and you knew that. Most nights where we would hang out I would tell you about him, and how much I liked him. Given I was only just starting to fall in love with him when my feelings went all over the shop for you. Of course me and Haydn argued, so I think when that became more frequent, that’s when I focused more on how we acted together, if that makes sense.”
“The night I came to you, what we did together just felt different. Normally, you cuddling me and kissing me on the head wouldn’t of affected me or made me feel any different about you. But something about this night was off, like, when you just held me it all felt right as cliche as that sounds. The cogs in my brain suddenly starting spinning in a completely different direction, and then that one part of my brain which I would normally use to think about him, was suddenly consumed by you,” she tells him.
Harry just watches her, listening patiently and hanging onto every word she says. It was making sense to him.
But, he understood, she still had more explaining to do before this was over.
“I did feel bad because of Haydn, but at the same time that I was developing feelings for you, I liked him also. I guess that makes me a slag, to be honest. I didn’t want to be the girl that liked two guys at the one time, because you know me, that is not the kind of person that I am, nor is it the kind of person that I want to be. So, as time went on I started to fall for you more. You knew that I always had a soft spot for you, because let’s be realistic. Anyone would. You’re one of the kindest people that I’ve met and you’ve always treated with more respect and love than anyone has in my whole life. Apart from my mum. I think the second next turning point was the night we went to your mums to visit her, and we stayed in your room. We stayed up for ages and talked about shit.”
“You know pratically everything there is to know about me, Haz. But that night I completely opened up to you about my insecurities about being more shy that you and I feel like that hindered me sometimes. And then I said that sometimes I feel like you get fed up of me because I’m not as confident or outgoing as yourself. But then your response was what made me like, ‘woah, he cares about me way more than I thought you did’. And I know you’ll think that what I’m saying is stupid, but you know how much I tend to overthink about stuff, and how worked up I get over certain things.”
“Obviously, I was good at hiding my feelings for you, because you never ever brought it up or even jokingly mentioned it. Then they just kept on growing, and I felt more guilty every time I looked at Haydn, and as my feelings grew stronger for you, my ones for him weakened. That’s when I realise it was completely fucked and that I needed to sort out this mess. But, I hung on to those little feelings that I had left for him and just hoped that they’d cancel out my ones for you. That’s why I stayed with him, because I thought that I could make it work. But I was wrong. So fucking wrong and I didn’t even realise it until this one night, and it was a month after my feelings for you had grew.”
“It was the night when I stayed at yours. We just stayed in bed the whole time, cuddling, messing about and you occasionally would kiss me on my head or move my hair away from my face. And it was all the little things, and it just kept on building up inside of me until that night, when you were asleep and I was just left with my thoughts I went - ‘fuck, I’m in love with my best friend.’ I was so scared, so fucking scared about being in love with you that the feeling just consumed me every time I looked at you or thought about you. Right away I knew that those feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated from you, as you had always told me that you only see me as a best friend. That’s why I was so scared, scared that if you were to ever find out something bad would happen. And it did. I never expected you to find out like that.”
“Then I broke up with Haydn, and of course I had to tell him the reason. It would be unfair to him to tell him a lie when he did give me his all. So after that I thought that he was gone and I could lose my feelings for you. Clearly, I didn’t lose my feelings, and he wasn’t gone, because of what happened at that fucking Halloween party.”
“The way you reacted scared me. It upset me and I didn’t know what was gonna come next Harry. I thought that we would go and talk it out somewhere like we are now, but no, you decided to be rude about it and basically yell at me. Now I understand it from your part, honestly. I’m your best friend and I’m in love with you, and you’re my best friend and you are not in love with me - that’s not a good match. I get why you were upset but now you’ve seen it from my side, I hope you can understand why I was so scared and why I left the party in absolute fits of sobs.”
She didn’t even realise she was crying, until she felt the tears running down her face. Y/N was quick to lift her hand up and wipe them away.
“I am so scared to be in love with you, Harry.”
He felt his heart break.
Harry was such a great listener and he greatly understood situations, not matter how complicated or hard they were. He understood why this all happened and he knew that she couldn’t help falling in love with him. It’s in people nature to be attracted to the people who show them the most attention, the people who loved you and cared for you when no one else would. That’s why she fell in love with him. Harry was the person she needed all along. Despite all of the love other people gave her, Harry gave her the most and she needed that. He was the one that she needed. Y/N had never been in love with someone, before Harry, so she was scared and her feelings had scared her to the core, but, she liked the feeling. Well that was before Harry’s reaction to her loving him.
“I didn’t want to be in love with you Harry,” she sobs, feeling pathetic because she had done so much crying these past two weeks. She then looks directly at him as she feels the courage building up inside her. “But I couldn’t help it. You physically cannot help who you fall in love with Harry. And I know you don’t want me to, but I am in love with you, and there’s nothing that I can do to stop or change that, Haz.”
Harry looks at her with sad eyes, nodding his head. “I know love, I know.”
“What you feel for me won’t change the fact that you’re my best friend and that I love you more than anything - just not in that way. And you know that. I was so upset when I found out because I didn’t want it to change anything between us. You know for well that spending time with you is one of my favourite things and that I wouldn’t swap you for anyone. You are my favourite person on this earth, besides my mum and my sister, but you know what I’m trying to say. I’m just sorry that I can’t love you in the way you want me to, or the way you deserved to be loved.” He tells her, and she shakes her head as the tears continue to fall freely. In a small voice, she tells him to not apologise for something that he cannot help.
He nods his head, and he feels his heart sink further into his stomach when she lets out a loud sob, and buries her face into her hand.
Normally, he’d be straight over there, comforting her. And he felt like a dick for not doing that.
“I don’t want this to change anything Harry. If I lose you as my best friend, then I only have Steph. And as much as I move her, she’s bloody hopeless and she’s always travelling, so I’d never get to see her. You know what she’s like, so please, I’ll hide my feelings. Heck I’ll fucking ignore them and see if there’s anything I can do to change them or make them just go away. As long as I don’t lose you, Harry. I need you and you know it.”
Harry nods with a small smile. “I know bab. I won’t let anything change between us, I can promise you that.”
“God,” she laughs lightly. “I’m sorry for crying.”
“Don’t apologise, Y/NN. I get that this is hard and extremely overwhelming for you,” he he tells her with a nod, and she nods her head. She wipes the rest of the tears away, and sighs deeply.
She had got everything she needed off of her chest, and now Harry knows everything, and she also understands how she feels too. It was hard for her to be so vulnerable with Harry with something like that, especially because she’s in love with him. Y/N thought that she’s just give up halfway through and she wouldn’t be able to talk to him about any of this. But she remained strong the whole time, and she was proud of herself for that. Harry understood her now too, and despite the fact that he didn’t love her in the way she wanted him too, he was going to put that past him because she’s his best friend. He gets up from the couch, and heads towards the one where she’s sitting. He sits down next to her and smiles.
He wraps one of his arms around her shoulder, pulling her in and kissing her on top of her head. She fought the butterflies in her stomach and leant into his side, wrapping an arm around his waist.
“Love you, Power Ranger.”
She laughs, “love you too, Storm Trooper.”
“So, how about we go back to season 1 of Thrones and we rewatch it, and this time I promise that I’ll sit through it and watch it with you,” he promises and she looks up at him, shaking her head as if to tell him ‘no you won’t stop lying’. “Come on Y/NN, I wanna see what the hype is really all about. And if Jon Snow is as fit as everyone says he is!”
“Trust me,” she gawks, “Jon Snow is beautiful!”
Harry laughs settling down on the couch with her, and she takes a pillow before propping it up on his chest and leaning on it, and Harry puts one arm over her shoulder. She takes the remote and goes all the way back to season 1, which she has seen too many times. “If you fall asleep Harry, honestly I’ll shove you off the couch because I need someone to obsess with over this show,” she tells him, tapping his arm. He nods his head before laughing, promising that he won’t fall asleep. They start the first episode and the familiar theme tune of Game Of Thrones fills the air.
Y/N was happy that everything had been sorted, and as long as things stayed the same, nothing really mattered. She still had Harry and that was all she needed.

**flashback**
“I think we have a longer extension cord in the basement” Cheryl says from her position leaning on the wall. “That way we don’t have to reconfigure the whole design”
Toni nods and stands up from where she was crouched under one of the cribs, the other one is still in pieces on the floor but at least they’re making progress. They still had a couple months but Cheryl being her typical in control self had insisted they get the nursery all set up and ready as soon as possible. The room still smells faintly of fresh paint, Toni had finished the mural on the wall a couple days ago and whenever Cheryl glances at it a smile crosses her face. The background is a swirl of dreamy blues and deep greens with hints of bright colours poking through. There are various animals littered throughout the landscape interacting with one another. A tiger prowling in the background, a group of zebras drinking from a river and colourful birds soaring above it all are just some of the creatures. Cheryl’s favourite is the elephant with a monkey sitting on its trunk eating a banana. The words “the world is yours” are painted in cursive writing at the top, both a reminder to her and the future of her twins. Cheryl turns her attention to another section of the wall where the cribs are going to be once they’re both built, the walls here carry on with the jungle theme and clouds are painted above where the babies names will be painted in, they’re blank right now since the couple is still in the deciding phase.
“Cher?” Toni says again causing her wife to snap out of her daze. “Everything ok?”
“Yeah babe, just thinking about how our lives are about to change. Taking it all in”
“I get that” she replies, she comes up to Cheryl from behind her and wraps her arms around her before pressing a kiss to her cheek. The couple stand there for a moment, letting the silence settle in and enjoying the calm while they can. Cheryl can feel Toni rubbing her belly in gentle even strokes and she hums happily.
***
“Is this the part where I finally find out why you’ve banished me from the nursery for days?”
“Yes, now shut up and close your eyes”
“Hey now that’s no way to talk to your pregnant wife” Cheryl retorts and she lets her eyes flutter shut and reaches out for Toni’s hand. She’s lead slowly through the hallway and towards the nursery.
“Okay aanaand… open!” Toni says, she’s trying to keep her excitement at an acceptable level but she can feel herself beaming as Cheryl slowly opens her eyes and takes in her surroundings.
The room has completely transformed since the last time she saw it, for one both the cribs are complete and moved into their spots against the wall. But the walls which had previously just been blank or covered with a simple pattern were now transformed into an underwater theme, with fish and turtles and seahorses swimming among the seaweed and coral reefs. One side of the room remained as a jungle theme, the way Cheryl had last seen it but Toni had worked her magic and transformed the other side into the ocean. Cheryl smiles, tears coming to her eyes as she repeatedly tells Toni how much she loves the room and her.
“I knew you couldn’t decide between the two… so I figured why not make it both?” She leans in and pulls Cheryl against her lips, kissing her deeply.
-
Toni sits beside Veronica, her head resting on her shoulder as she takes deep breaths. She’s doing her absolute best to stay calm while the doctors help Cheryl and their baby girl but she’s starting to get increasingly upset and angry that no one has even so much as been out to update her yet. It’s been almost 30 minutes.
“I remember when I found out Cheryl was pregnant” Veronica says suddenly, she laughs a little to herself as she recalls the memory. “She was so upset it didn’t go according to plan. That I found out before because of her throwing up into a mall garbage can”
“Oh god” Toni says, she reaches up to wipe her face with the sleeve of her sweater. “I swear she had it planned out from the moment she found out she was pregnant. Typical Cheryl always planning down to the last detail”
“What exactly was her plan? She never actually told me.”
“Well I have to hand it to her because it was actually a pretty good idea. I tried to convince her to just do a cute card or something but that didn’t fly of course, it was ‘lacking flame’ as she so elegantly put it.”
“Yeah that sure sounds like Cheryl” Veronica laughs lightly shaking her head at the thought of the pair arguing over the topic.
“It was pretty simple though. She was just going to invite you over for dinner and drop subtle hints all night and see how long it took you to pick up on it.”
“Oh my god!” Veronica replies “please tell me she would have said something about buns in the oven”
“Yes!” Toni says, laughter escaping her lips. “That was the first one she came up with, and then every time she thought of a new one she would go ‘aha that’s brilliant’ and write it down”
“That’s too good oh my god, kinda sad I didn’t get to witness Cheryl cracking off pregnancy jokes”
“Oh trust me she was upset, came home crying and everything. I thought something was seriously wrong and when she told me I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes at her. Such a drama queen”
“Excuse me?” The doctor suddenly says from beside them. “I hate to interrupt, but Cheryl is out of surgery. She’s doing really well”
“And the baby?” Toni and Veronica say in almost perfect unison.
“A happy and healthy baby girl. Your son is doing well too” He says smiling. Toni let’s out a loud sigh of relief and can already feel tears of joy forming in her eyes. “Feel free to go see them anytime, same room as before”
-
**flashback**
Toni runs her finger over the thick glass of the picture frame, when she pulls it away there’s a visible streak in the glass and her finger has a thin layer of grime and dust on it. She blows on her finger softly and watches the dust particles float through the air. A smile forms on her lips as she focuses her gaze back on the photo, it’s a picture of Uktena tribe her grandfather was a part of. Her grandfather was just a baby back then, there’s years of history in these photos. She puts it down and picks up another photo from the box that’s just of her grandfather. Thomas. He’s older this time and holding a jacket with the Southside Serpents logo on it. There’s a huge grin painted on his face, he was the founder of the serpents and together they gave Toni a family from a very young age. It’s been years since her grandfather died but she still feels her heart swell at the photo and tears starting to form in her eyes and she rifles through the box of his things.
“Toni?” She hears her wife call faintly, but she’s so lost in her own thoughts and emotions that she forgets to reply. “Where are you?”
Cheryl had just gotten home from clothing shopping with Veronica, because leave it to her to ensure the twins would be elegantly dressed before they’re even born. She walks slowly around the house checking each room before she finds the stairs to the attic open. She calls her wife’s name again but doesn’t get a response so she slowly climbs the stairs one at a time which is challenging with her ever-growing round belly. Toni is sitting on the floor of the attic surrounded by articles, books and photographs, the pale light of the attic is shining down on her and illuminating strands of her brunette hair sticking to her tear soaked cheeks. Her body is shaking slightly and she jumps when Cheryl reaches to lay a hand on her shoulder.
“Sorry, I just... I was distracted. I just came up here to get the box for the nursery.” she says quickly, reaching up to wipe her cheeks of tears.
“Thomas, right? Your grandfather.” Cheryl asks, her eyes roaming the ground and taking in the contents Toni has spread all over the attic floor. Toni nods in response, reaching to dust off yet another photograph. Cheryl lowers herself ever so slowly to the ground and leans heavily against the wall, she opens her arms and Toni immediately moves and curls into her side making sure to wrap her arm firmly around Cheryl’s stomach. “Tell me about him.”
“He was the best Cher. Thomas Theodore Topaz. Triple T as the Serpents liked to call him. He was a founding member of the serpents and he loved me like no one else. He was the first of my family members to really accept me for who I am, mainly the fact that I like girls. My uncle… well, you know. I really looked up to my grandpa, he was strong and stood up for what he believed in.” Toni pauses to take a deep breath, she’s started to cry again without meaning to. “I miss him…”
“I didn’t know him, but I know he would be so proud of how far you’ve come.” Cheryl soothes, she kisses Toni’s head gently and pulls her tighter against her body. Toni collapses further into new wife and feels a wave of emotions come over her even stronger than before, she sobs into Cheryl’s body.
“I love you, I love you so fucking much baby girl” Cheryl soothes, she runs her fingers through Toni’s hair and presses multiple kisses to her head to help her calm down. “I know how much it hurts, just let it out.”
Cheryl rocks Toni gently in her arms despite the fact it’s making her back ache, she closes her eyes and holds her wife as close as she possibly can and let’s her cry out all the tears she has stored for what seems like years. The attic creaks softly around them and the dust and papers flutter slightly when a breeze comes in through the open window but in a way it’s soothing. Cheryl’s eyes open and land on the photo of the tribe that Toni had found earlier, the edges are yellow and the photo is fraying at the edges so she can tell it’s been well loved. There’s at-least a dozen of them in the photo, including a man holding a tiny little infant. Some of the members are smiling and some looks serious and Cheryl wonders what the circumstance of the photo being taken was. She’s pulled from her trance when Toni speaks up softly against her.
“Grandpa is the little baby in that photo. I just.. wish there was a way for me to honour him”
“You are, by remembering him and the legacy he left behind”
“I know but I mean more so than that, he had and continues to have such an impact on my life even though he’s gone”
“Well…” Cheryl trails off, her eyes flickering to Toni’s hand resting on her rounded belly. She reaches up and wipes the tears off Toni’s face before continuing. “What about naming our son after him?”
“Really? I thought we talked about naming him after Jason, which I am 100% on board for by the way”
“Well then it’s a good thing we get to choose two names each for the babies, hey? Jason can be his middle name” Cheryl smiles down at her wife, Toni has a serious look on her face as she takes in the info. She tries to argue but Cheryl is insistent, she knows how important and meaningful this is to Toni. “These are our children, our family. And I’d be honoured to have our son named after someone so special in your life”
“I couldn’t ask for a better partner or someone to spend my life with” Toni says, her voice is shaking but Cheryl can still hear the meaning behind it.
“You make me the happiest girl in the world” Cheryl replies, leaning down to kiss Toni gently on the lips. “Now please help me up and to the kitchen, I’m starving.”
Toni snorts loudly in response as she pulls away from the kiss. “Well c’mon my lady, I wouldn’t want to keep you or your belly waiting any longer” she stands and offers her hand to Cheryl as elegantly as possible and together the pair make their way downstairs.
-
Toni walks into the room slowly despite her strong need to see and hold her wife, she feels nervous all of the sudden for reasons she can’t exactly pinpoint but she’s determined to keep herself together for Cheryl’s sake. She turns the handle and a smile easily comes to her face when she see’s her wife laying in the bed sleeping lightly, the babies are no where to be seen right now but Toni assumes the doctors will bring them in soon. When she reaches Cheryl’s side she leans in to press a soft kiss to her temple which causes her to shift and blink her eyes open to the world, she mouths a silent hello and pats the open space beside her. Toni climbs in carefully and the pair entwine themselves as close as possible.
“You did it princess, you did so good” Toni whispers against her, pressing a kiss against her temple.
“I want.. to.. hold… our babies..” Cheryl says, her voice still laced with sleep, she’s on pretty heavy pain meds which are making her even more drowsy than she would usually be.
“Me too love, I can go find the doctor” she’s about to pull away to track down where her children are when the doctor walks in with a couple nurses trailing behind holding two warm bundles in their arms. Cheryl perks up immediately when she clues in to what is happening, next thing they know the twins are thrust into their arms and the couple is overcome with emotion. Toni looks over at Cheryl with tears streaming down her face only to find out her wife is crying just as hard. With the twins being newborn its hard to tell who they’ll resemble more as they grow but Toni swears she can see the same slope of Cheryl’s nose in their daughter and their son has slightly darker skin resembling her own. Their son is wide eyed and taking in the world, a small smile forms on his face when his gaze lands on Toni’s face and a small, happy, little coo comes from his mouth.
“Welcome to the family my little loves” Cheryl says gently, she’s holding their daughter close to her chest and stroking her cheek gently with one finger as she sleeps soundly.
“We did this Cher, they are so tiny and precious. Our little family”
There’s a soft knock at the door and the unmistakable click of Veronica’s heels. “Can I come say hi?” She questions gently, peaking her head into the doorway, she walks in further when Cheryl and Toni nod in unison.
“Ronnie, meet Theodore Jason and Kaya Rose.”
“Theodore after my grandpa” Toni chimes in.
“What about Kaya? It sounds Native American”
“It is!” Cheryl says, confirming Veronica’s guess. “We struggled picking a name for our baby girl, but the Indigenous peoples are an important part of our history - especially Toni’s. So we decided to derive a name from that and we loved the fact that Kaya means little but wise”
“It’s a gorgeous name. And of course Jason, a perfect homage to him”
Cheryl nods slowly, biting her lip gently. “I wish he was here to meet them, he would have been a great uncle”
“He’s not here, but I know that somehow he knows and he’s so proud of you babe” Toni soothes, she finds Cheryls free hand with hers and gives it a gentle squeeze. “One day we can tell our children about the powerful and important people they’re named after”
“Do you want to hold her?” Cheryl asks Veronica, steering the conversation away from talk of her brother. They pass the baby carefully and Veronica bounces her gently in her arms as she paces around the room. Cheryl turns onto her side carefully and rests her head on Toni’s shoulder before turning her attention to her son, she reaches out aiming to stroke his cheek but he grabs her finger and wraps his tiny little fingers around it in a tight grasp. “Hello Theo, welcome to the big wide world”
Toni smiles down at the pair and takes in the moment, part of her still can’t believe this is her life. The road here has been anything but smooth, but she wouldn’t change a single thing because it all ended her here surrounded by so much happiness and love. Her heart feels like its bursting, who knew two little people could make her heart so full. And as she feels Cheryl start to drift off against her body she thanks the universe for everything that lead her to this moment. It’s more than she ever could have imagined for herself.

Something New
This one come just after The Start Of Something New

Content Warning: medical talk (use of needles, mention of sedatives), major hurt/comfort feels, the strange eating habits of eastern europeans
They watched the girl fall clattering to the floor. Usbeorn stepped forward to catch her, but a look from Irina made him think better of it.
“Poor thing” He murmured as she slipped into unconsciousness.
“She did sign up willingly,” Cassian countered, but without much conviction, which made Irina scoff.
“There’s no way anyone would willingly sign up for this. It’s inhumane.” She stalked around the room, taking photos of the various machines and the contents of each drawer, typing a few notes into her phone. “Even if she did sign up, she clearly didn’t know what she was getting involved with.”
Cassian followed her around, poking through the supplies and bagging anything that he thought might be useful. They had been investigating the clinics for a little over a year, but this was the first time they managed to find a victim instead of a body. Ignoring the other two, Usbeorn knelt over the girl, brushing her matted brown hair out of her face to get a better look at her. She was pretty, if a little fragile looking. It wasn’t because of how small she was, her thin frame hid the muscles of an acrobat or a dancer, but her skin was so pale - practically translucent - that the blue tint of her veins could almost be seen. Her sterile white shift was equally transparent and Usbeorn looked around for something better to cover her with. He found a thin cotton blanket and wrapped her up in it, picking her up easily. He looked up just as Irina was finishing her inventory.
“Come, let’s go before they decide to come back.” She said, before leading the way out of the room and back down the corridor.
“I don’t know what you’re so worried about, Rini. I’m sure that biohazard alarm scared them off good, and even if they did come back, we’ve got your bear of a brother to protect us,” Cassian joked as they pushed back out into the sunlight.
Irina scowled over her shoulder “Don’t call me that”
“And besides,” Usbeorn added, trying to ease the tension ”if I’m fighting, who’s going to carry the girl? Irina needs her hands free to throw knives or drive the getaway car and it’s not like your arms can support more than the weight of your ego” He loaded the girl into the back of the car next to Cassian and hopped into the passenger seat.
“I could drive” Cassian mumbled as they set off for home.
“It’ll be a dark day in a field of stars before anyone lets you drive anywhere” Irina shot back. Their playful bickering faded into background noise and the drive was over in no time.
Even with their year of searching, they hadn’t fully considered what it would take to house and possibly rehabilitate one of the Institute’s victims. After a brief deliberation, they laid her on the couch of the main room, hoping it would seem as safe and normal as possible. The siblings had found the abandoned building back when they were still young and unable to use any of the money their parents had left them, but as soon as Irina had turned 18, she had started renovations, making the space more livable and “homely.”
“She’ll prolly be out for a while. I’m not sure how much was in that syringe, but a sedative like that’s gonna put down an elephant for hours.” Cassian remarked, walking down the hall to the room they had dubbed the “MedBay” and dumping the supplies he had filched. When he came back, the three of them just stood, watching the girl sleep, not quite sure what to do. Eventually, Irina pulled out her laptop and started typing up the events of the day and after a jibe from her, Cassian went back to the MedBay to put the supplies away properly. Usbeorn sat in an armchair with a book, but was quickly fast asleep.
He was jolted awake by a scream which had him on his feet, looking for trouble. Irina was similarly on her feet, knives drawn, while Cassian came running in. The girl they had rescued had managed to tuck herself between the arm of the couch and the wall and was screaming her head off.
“Hey, woah, You’re ok. We’re not going to hurt you, you’re ok.” Usbeorn took a step forward, hands up in submission, but the girl only shrank further.
Irina, who had put her knives away, had better luck, sinking down into a crouch and murmuring softly “You’re safe now. It’s ok. We took you away from there. You’re not there anymore. You’re safe now, you’re not gonna get hurt anymore.” The girl had stopped screaming and was watching at them suspiciously.
“You’re safe here. My name is Irina and that’s my brother, Usbeorn. I know he looks big, but he’s not scary, I promise. That’s Cassian, over there. He’s an idiot, but try not to hold it against him” She tried for a joke, which got the girl to look more relaxed. “Do you remember your name? Can you tell us your name? I promise we don’t want to hurt you.”
The girl glanced between each of them before her gaze fixed back on Irina “Amarylla. I’m Amarylla”
Following her lead, Usbeorn knelt a bit behind his sister, trying not to look intimidating “Hi Amarylla, I’m pleased to meet you.”
Amarylla smiled back slightly and nodded.
“Will you come out? You will be safe here. We can get you something to eat and,” Irina turned to address her brother “Can you go get her something to wear? Something from my room or one of your old shirts?” Usbeorn nodded left while Irina held her hand out to help Amarylla get up. She hesitated at first, but then took Irina’s offered hand and perched instead in the corner of the couch. Usbeorn came back with an armful of clothing which he set on the other end of the couch.
“Stars above Us, did you bring my entire closet?” Irina asked, exasperated
Usbeorn blushed and ducked his head a bit “I panicked…”
With a sigh, Irina nodded to the pile “You can pick whatever makes you feel comfortable from there. Cassian, will you quit standing around like a guppy and get her something to eat?” He nodded dumbly and went to put together a meal. After a worried glance between the two siblings, Amarylla scooted to the pile and picked through it until she found a shirt so large that it would probably fall below her knees.
Usbeorn smiled and then turned to go “I’ll go help Cassian and let you get changed”
Once he was gone, Irina turned her back and let the girl change, startling when she saw the shift go flying across the room. When she turned back around again, Amarylla was back in the corner of the couch, the shirt pulled down over her knees and her arms tucked into the sleeves so all that could be seen was her head. Irina couldn’t keep a smile from spreading over her face and she grabbed a blanket and approached slowly,
“Can I put this around you? It will keep you warm and it’s my favorite because it’s super soft” Amarylla nodded hesitantly but smiled gratefully as the blanket was wrapped around her. Cassian came back in then with a bowl of soup, Usbeorn following behind with a mug of tea and a tub of sour cream.
“Chicken noodle seemed like the best choice, sorry I didn’t have time to actually cook anything” Cassian said, setting the bowl on the coffee table.
“Here’s tea, and sour cream for the soup. You can never have soup without sour cream.” Usbeorn added. Amarylla looked at him questioningly, but he and Irina were smiling at each other.
“Russians” Cassian said with a sigh “Pay them no mind, darlin’. They’ve just got messed up tastes”
Amarylla glanced back at Usbeorn before uncurling and kneeling at the table to eat, adding a spoon of sour cream. It cooled the soup down quickly and made the broth creamy. After she had eaten, Irina led her to a bedroom, down another hallway.
“I know it’s been a long day for you and a lot has happened. If you’re tired, you can sleep here.” Amarylla crawled gratefully into bed, the blanket still wrapped around her. Irina kept standing awkwardly in the doorway “I can stay with you, if you’d like, or one of the other two, if that would make you feel better. Or we can leave you be. It’s entirely up to you, we just want to make you feel comfortable.”
Amarylla nodded hastily “You. Please. If you can…”
Irina nodded and went to grab a book before nestling into the chair in the far corner of the room. After a pause, Irina started to read aloud, and her soft, crisp voice carried Amarylla to sleep.

Wind's howling
Rating: T
>>>Read on AO3<<<
“No….no, I’m still not feeling it. Take it off. “
“You can’t be serious. “
“Oh but I very much am. “
The make-up lady was patient, very patient in fact, but even she had limits. With an expression of total anguish, she turned towards the bald photographer.
“Dot. For god’s sake, we’ve been sitting here for the last hour trying different things, and you are still not satisfied. What the hell do you want? “
“I… don’t know! But not this, that’s for sure. “, he gave the woman a very friendly smile. “I’m sorry, I really am, but I can’t work unless It’s perfect. “
She groaned, turning towards Mikasa who was perched on the stool and started dabbing her face with a wet cotton pad, removing the make-up she placed there a mere minutes ago. Behind her, Pixis started pacing around the room, muttering to himself.
“I’m sorry I’m taking so much of your time. “, Mikasa whispered, feeling the woman’s pain.
“Oh don’t be. “, she smiled at her, “You are an amazing model dear, not a word of protest or discomfort, I wish I could work with you every day. Dot….Dot is always like this. “, with a practiced motion, she wiped the eyeliner away with one sweep, “This is my job after all. “
“Mikasa, tell me, when you train, you don’t wear anything right? “, that was Pixis asking, coming close after he finished his round around the studio.
“W-What? Of course I’m wearing clothes! “
“Oh, no, not like that. “, he grinned when he saw her blush furiously, “I mean make-up. You don’t have any when you work out right? “
“Well, of course not. Why would I? “
He snapped his fingers.
“That’s it. We are going to make the shoot without any make-up. “
The make-up artist was just about done.
“Pixis…“
“No, no, it makes perfect sense! This is a gym clothes presentation, and I aim to make it as realistic as possible! “
Model with a naked face. You know what? Fine. The girl had a really pretty complexion anyway, nicely pale skin which complimented her black hair. The artist gave up. With a last shrug, she carefully wiped everything from Mikasa’s face, leaving it completely bare, before standing up and going to sit by the door with an expression of total apathy. The model-in-making straightened herself, looking around the room. It was arranged to look a little bit like the gym, with Dot having a few men drag in actual machines. There was a punching bag, bench-press, and a few more, but somehow, she didn’t feel right at home. Maybe because of the lights everywhere and the agitated photographer running around.
“How do you want me? “, she asked, kinda eager to be done with this.
Upon hearing the slight hitch in her voice, he stopped and walked over to her, putting a supportive hand on her shoulder.
“You are still nervous, aren’t you? “
“Yes…“
“Look, Mikasa, I know that’s it’s rather cliché to say, but just be yourself. “
“But I just…“, she hugged herself, the earlier boldness she felt completely gone by now, “I don’t feel like a model. “
“Don’t feel like a model? “, he repeated after her, shaking his head, “And how is a model supposed to look like? You have a body to die for, my dear, and it’s clear to see that this, “, he gestured around himself, pointing at the gym machines, “is what you are good at, it’s something you understand. So use it. The muscles you have, don’t hide them, show them! Be proud of your work! Look, If I wanted a generic blond woman, I could pick one out of the hundreds that apply here. But those, they wouldn’t fit like you do, you are a natural for this kind of photoshoot. So please, as I said, just act like you normally do when you work out, and ill snap a few photos. That’s it. “
Following his advice, Mikasa took a deep breath and walked over to the punching bag, hitting it a few times experimentally. The clothes she had on now were similar to her normal gym wear, tight cropped top and shorts, not hindering her movements at all. And as she gave in to the routine, everything, the lights, Pixis, all of the studio simply faded into the background. Why did it matter where she was? Here, there’s a bag, punch it. Mikasa was just getting warmed up when a hand fell on her shoulder, and after she turned she could see that it was the photographer, eyes shining.
“That was amazing! The expression of perfect focus! The grace! The strength! “
“Ehm… Why did you stop me then? “
“Well, “¸ he pointed at her chest, “we need you to change clothes, I got this set covered. “
This went on for some time, with Mikasa being left to her own devices, Dot only chiming in when he needed her to dress in something different. It was…relaxing after all. There really was no pressure from anyone, just a few quick easy requests from time to time, that was it. And Mikasa, despite her expectations, found herself enjoying this. When Pixis put down the camera, calling it a day she wasn’t even winded, but looking outside she could see that the sky darkened significantly. And a new thought struck her.
Where the hell was Levi?
“It was…uhm…nice working with you…Petra. “
“Same. Be seeing you. “
And with that Petra, who he hasn’t seen since college, turned her back and left. Once he was alone, he leaned back against a wall, feeling his heart hammering in his chest. Fuck, this so was awkward. Levi really wished that he could have a cigarette right now, but there was some bullshit rule about no smoking inside and shit, so he ran a palm over his face instead. When she came through the door for the first time, they both froze. It was really her. He knew Petra back in college, she was his…friend? Sometimes he liked to think that they were about to be more. But then the stuff with Mikasa happened, Levi had to drop out, and he hasn’t seen her since. He couldn’t say anything, he just stared at her, unable to conjure any two words together. In the end, it was her who managed to move first, coming close with an outstretched hand.
“Hello, my name is Petra Ral, I’ll be your photographer today. Can we start? “
Taken back, he shook her hand, thoughts racking in his brain. Did she forget him? But if she did, why did she freeze when she came in? It made no sense. But Petra was already setting up her machine, completely ignoring him. For some reason, she just acted like she didn’t know him, and he, having no idea what to do, went along with it. She took the photos with an efficiency of a professional, talking to her model only when she had to, the camera in her hand snapping away. Levi followed every instruction she gave him as quickly as he could, and they proceeded swiftly, until she straightened and announced that they are done. And left, without another word. Fuck. To add insult to injury, he could see Mikasa approaching with some old man in tow, apparently deep in a conversation.
“…oh don’t be so modest, your ass is going to make that brand of yoga pants a best seller. And we haven’t even done the bikini yet! That reminds me, is there something else we could use? “, he was just asking.
“Well, I ride a bike…“
“Amazing! We could definitely use a new face for biker stuff, and you would look gorgeous in leather! I’ll put that on a table for Kiyomi. How about….“
But Levi just wanted to be fucking gone, the unexpected meeting turning his world upside down.
“Hey brat, you done? Can we go? “, he stepped in, rather rudely interrupting Pixis.
“Yea… Sure, ehm…“, she turned back towards Dot, “Thanks for everything, today was a lot of fun. “
Ignoring her rude midget of a brother, he smiled at her.
“Of course, anytime. I’ll be in touch! “
With that, they parted, with him going back to the studio while Mikasa came to stand next to Levi.
“What’s eating you? “, she asked, frowning.
“Nothing. Let’s just fucking bail. “, he walked away at a brisk pace, heading towards the exit. They couldn’t get out of this fucking building fast enough.
“Just act normal, please. “
“Sure, let us all forget that she broke your heart and…“
“She didn’t break anything, okay? We just ended it, it happens. “
Sasha groaned, frowning at Armin who was so pale that she wondered if there is any blood left in his face.
“I’m still going to spit in her drink though. “
“Please don’t. “
“I just don’t understand! Why would you invite her here? “
“I just…“, honestly speaking, Armin had no idea what made him call Annie and ask her if she would come to the bar. Desperation? Alcohol? Probably both. “She said that we can still be friends so…. Please? For me? “
“Fine! But you owe us. “
“Thanks Sasha, you are a doll. “, he leaned down, wrapping her in an awkward hug, but that didn’t stop her from frowning. Honestly speaking, she was very, very far from forgiving Annie, but if Armin begged them to try and do their best to act friendly towards her…. Damnit, she liked the guy too much.
It didn’t take Annie long to arrive, fidgeting with her buttons on the way in, clearly also not very comfortable. But well, promise is a promise. So Sasha wheeled herself over to her, pushing her dislike down and chattering away. With the help of drinks and the fact that she came here to work, not just stand around, the awkwardness slowly melted. It wasn’t gone, but it grew a tiny bit smaller, as everyone just sort of accepted her being there. It was surely handy that Annie was rather knowledgeable about this kind of work, filling in for Carla who had some charity stuff to do today and couldn’t be at the bar. With Eren at work and Mikasa and Levi doing god knows what for the fashion mogul, it left just Connie, Sasha, Jean, Armin and now Annie to move the work forward, even by a tiny bit.
With the day progressing, Jean was the first one to leave, saying that he has some errands to run, but both Armin and Annie continued until the sky went dark and evening came. Seeing them together, watching the teamwork they had, Sasha wondered what the hell happened between them that made them end their relationship. They just looked so good, managing to relax in each other’s presence even with the elephant in the room, making Sasha question if they truly moved past, or if they were only very good at pretending.
“I appreciate all that you did, but we are about to close. So unless you wanna sleep here, you should head out. “, she said, wheeling herself over to the pair.
“Oh, right. Erm…“, Armin scratched the back of his head while Annie played with the hammer in her lap, “We’ll be right out. “
Once outside the bar however, Armin realized that he didn’t want to part himself from Annie, not yet. Her presence just warmed him, inside out, something no one else managed to do.
“Hey, want me to show you something? “, he asked, doing his best to smile.
She nodded. And his heart fluttered.
It took them about half an hour before they reached their destination, a rooftop of one of the buildings around.
“Wow, the view is….breathtaking….“¸ she said, looking over the darkened city, with stars shining over their heads.
“We used to come here with Eren, back when we wanted a break from the world. It’s pretty relaxing wouldn’t you say? “
“Yeah….“, she leaned on the railing, and after gathering his courage, Armin followed, coming to stand next to her. Together they enjoyed the way the city was slowly lighting up with the thousands of little artificial suns. But then, then Armin looked left, and she looked right, and they saw something shining even brighter than all of those combined. When they kissed, everything, all the pain and suffering he went through was nothing compared to this feeling, because now, he felt that he matters again, that the future is bright and….
Something hard pushed against his chest. Armin staggered and fell backwards, landing on the hard ground and looking up at Annie, who was covering her mouth with one hand while staring angrily at him.
“W-What’s wrong? Annie? What…“
“Shut the fuck up. “
He had no idea what to say. Just a second ago, she was kissing him back as much as he was, and now there were tears of anger in the corners of her eyes, which she promptly blinked away. She was hurting, he could tell, he had to help her, do something…
“Annie…“
“I said, shut. The fuck. Up. “
She took a deep breath.
“I thought I can do this, but I can’t. We…can’t be friends, you understand? Armin, I wasted enough of my time on you, I don’t want to see you ever again. Don’t write. Don’t call. Don’t ever contact me again. We are done. “
Shaking her head, she took a few steps backwards before turning and running down the steps, disappearing from his view.
“Your phone is ringing brat. “
“I know. “, Mikasa glared at Levi for a second before picking up, not even looking who the caller was. “Can I help you? “
“Mikasa….Hey….“
She frowned. It was Armin, but he sounded so….down? “
“Hey Ar, what’s up? “
“Can we, uhm, talk? In person? “
“Sure thing, where you at? “
She waved at Levi who drove past her and into the city, leaving her alone.
“Do you remember the old roof where me and Eren used to come. We took you too after you guys started dating. “
“Sure, I’ll be there soon. “
Mikasa didn’t really question why he was up there. Armin was a free soul, perhaps he just needed a breath of fresh air. Taking a moment to make sure the helmet was secure on her head, Mikasa started up the engine and navigated the motorbike on the road and towards the place where her friend was. But when she parked and walked up the familiar steps, her heart jumped into her throat.
“Armin! Why are you… Armin why are you standing there? “
He turned back from the edge, behind the railing, where he was looking down into the street below, and smiled weakly.
“Hey Mikasa. You came. “
“Of course I did. Why don’t you come here so we can talk? “
But when she took a step forward he took one backwards, shaking his head. He was literally one more step away from the fall.
“No, no talking, not anymore. “
Seeing him balance on the rim of the roof, she stopped, eyes wide. What was he doing?
“Armin, please, step away from the edge. You don’t want to fall, do you? “
He barked out a laugh.
“What if I do? “
“Don’t talk like that. Please, just tell me, what’s happening? “
“It’s just… I realized something. “, he turned away from her back towards the city, watching the lights. “I’m a leech. “
“What? “
“A parasite. I’m not even a human being. Back when I was kid, I was leeching on Eren, but then he found you, and suddenly I had no host, no one to sap life from. “
“Nonsense, you are Eren’s friend not some parasite. “
“Oh please, who would want to be my friend? I’m nothing. “
“That’s not true. “
“Isn’t it? “, he barked out a laugh, “ You are an amazing fighter, now even a model, Eren is a prodigy surgeon. What am I then? Writer? We both know the best use for anything I write would be if people used the paper to wipe their asses. Oh, you are biased, because you know me, but we both can agree that its crap. And other than that, what do I have? Nothing. “
“What about the bar? The work you do here? “
“Sasha took me on only because she felt sorry for me, Connie was more than enough for her. “, he shook his head, “I’m nothing. I do nothing, just steal time from other people. I’m trash. “
Mikasa was slowly but surely uncovering the truth. There was only one person who could get Armin, who was otherwise always so happy and full of life, so down.
“This is about Annie, isn’t it? “
“No, this is about me. I can’t blame her that she realized the truth sooner than I did and understood that spending time with me is a waste. You should do the same. “
Mikasa could feel her fists balling. She had no idea what that bitch did, but this was way too far. Way too fucking far.
“Armin listen to me, you are a great guy and an amazing friend, to me, to Eren, to Connie and Sasha, hell, even my brother likes you. Uncountable times you managed to cheer us up when we felt down, helped us in need, or just was there for us when we needed someone to talk to. And we both know you are a great writer, so cut that crap. Please, don’t let Annie do this to you, come here, and let’s talk. “
The wind was howling around them.
“Looks like rain. “, he said, not looking at her, still watching the city.
Armin took a deep breath.
“I’m sorry, Mikasa. “
And he stepped forward.

This is going to be a relatively short post, since the scene doesn’t exactly get Hana-centric until the last few minutes of the diamond sequence. This scene is meant to be a bonus trust-gaining exercise for Penelope (you will still gain her trust even if you don’t take this option), a chance to build reputation by modelling for a famous designer, with some romance in the backstage dressing room. There is very little by way of background story, or emotional investment - in comparison to a scene like the Moonflower scene in Chapter 4. I will try to discuss points that I think this scene touches upon, but I’m afraid the latter part of this essay is going to dissolve into a bit of a rant. Please bear with me.
Past and Present
The girls’ meeting with Lancelin St Clair, results in an interesting proposition. Prior to this scene, the MC gets the chance to wear one of St Clair’s prized outfits, a beautiful flowy gown with an intricate floral print. Just before the show begins, he approaches Hana, whose default pink dress turns out to be one of St Clair’s first original designs. By having both the MC and Hana participate in the show, St Clair manages to place the achievements of both his past and present on an international stage, while also having a Cordonian presence on a platform meant to benefit Cordonia in its time of crisis. Agreeing to his offer is not only a great experience for them but also sends a pretty great message on Cordonian-French ties politically.
Penelope
This diamond scene happens at a crucial point in the story. By this time we have learned that the credit card used to purchase the photos belonged to Penelope, and that her past few months at court have been extremely rough. At this point in the story, the MC and Hana are working on building trust in Penelope, so she can eventually confess to them why she was involved in the scheme to smear the MC’s name.
Throughout the second book, Hana is shown to be a comforting, educative presence for Penelope. She validates Penelope’s feelings way before anyone else - even the MC - does, and shows an amazing amount of empathy for Penelope’s situation. Whether it’s the picnic where Hana comforts Penelope on not impressing the suitors, or the Italian dinner where she gives Penelope extremely useful advice for managing crowds, she has shown Penelope that there are people who have her back, even in the Cordonian royal court.
It is Hana who first suggests to the MC that bringing Penelope along with them will help them later, leading the MC to admire her “craftiness”. But this goes way beyond just craftiness. It goes into Hana’s most special quality: her ability to recognize what certain people need and cater to them. It helps her immensely in educating the MC on international relations, and in this case it helps the MC plan ahead. Hana understands not just how tough Court can be, but also how essential it is to have coping mechanisms in place. Which is why she seems to understand Penelope’s need for her poodles the most.
Modelling History
For the most part, I had assumed that Hana was part of the nobility. Yet given the evidence building up in the books, it is possible that she might be from a nouveau riche family - one that is aware they are at some disadvantage in high society and therefore feels the need to select a groom for Hana by rank and titles. There have been indications of this as early as chapter 3, where Olivia introduces the other suitors by their lineage, but only refers to Hana by how she is “training to learn the courtly graces of conversation and seduction”. Olivia also implies, later on in the conversation, that her parents are throwing her at every available bachelor in a bid to get her to “climb the social ladder”.
Hana’s parents are extremely rich, but unlike the Cordonian nobles who don’t seem to particularly care much about showing their wealth, they feel the pressure of splurging - both on material things (the yacht, the bull elephant for Liam’s coronation), as well as teaching Hana certain skills to give Hana a competitive edge. One of the many skills she is pushed to learning is modelling.
Many of Hana’s skills are veered towards making her as appealing to the men who come to see her as possible, no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Hana admits, in the Applewood boutique in Book 2 Chapter 4, that her mother taught her to fake being clumsy because it would make her look like a “damsel-in-distress”. The modelling is another attempt at making her appear desirable, one that they realise might backfire on her later. Much of Hana’s training teaches her to put up a front: a helpless, delicate yet alluring front that is meant to draw suitors to her, but doesn’t help her very much when she wants to actively pursue someone.
Taking Charge
(The screenshots in this section have been taken from the Abhirio YouTube channel)
The best part of this sequence definitely lies in the backstage dressing-room romance, for several reasons. One: it allows the Hana-shipping reader to choose how they want to kiss her. Two: in both options, she is an enthusiastic participant - nor shy nor baffled by the attention anymore, but confident in her lover’s desire for her and her own needs. In fact in the “be rough” option, she takes charge, kissing the MC’s neck as she presses her against a wall.
This scene is special, because Hana seems not just to be responding to the MC’s advances but taking initiative as well. She answers the MC’s pleas to kiss her with a knowing smile and “well, what are you waiting for?”, presses her against the wall as she kisses her neck, straight-out tells the MC she fantasizes about her (“in dressing rooms…and elsewhere”). When another model enters the dressing-room, it is the MC who is flustered by the interruption, and Hana who - smoothly and confidently - acts like nothing had happened mere seconds ago.
This scene shows us a Hana who is a little more comfortable in her sexuality and her needs than what we’ve usually seen. She takes initiative, she is less shocked at the notion that the object of her affections loves her back, and she is an active participant in their makeout sessions. For someone from a background like hers’, someone who has learned her entire life to place what she wants on the back-burner, being able to do this is a very big deal. And it is essential she reaches this point sometime in the story, because by the time they reach China, there is a chance we might meet her parents and confront/convince them about how harmful their methods are, and help them see her side of things for once. This is only truly possible when Hana is certain about what she wants, enough to attend least make it clear to her parents that she should be able to decide how she wants to live her life.
With this ends my analysis of the scene. Which leaves me with something I have been noticing about Hana’s scenes since Book 2 began…
Why Are Hana’s Diamond Scenes Getting the Short End of the Stick?
Take this week’s chapter, for instance. As I have mentioned before, the 8th chapters in the TRR series tend to be a game-changer for all the LIs - with each LI getting an exclusive scene each - and is meant to highlight significant development in the LIs story. Drake’s is shocking and emotional, with the reunion with his sister and discovery that he has a nephew - leading the kiss that occurs later to emerge from an emotional high experienced by both characters. Liam’s shows us a rich symbolic parallel to their first meeting and their boat trip to see Liberty, and touches briefly on why being King matters so much to him - leading the kiss to emerge organically and naturally.
Hana, on the other hand? She barely features except at the beginning of her own damn Diamond sequence, and the focus is on her only during the dressing room scene. Yes, the scene is about a number of things, such as representing Cordonia and getting Penelope to trust them, but because this is such a mish-mash of different things, Hana recieves very little by way of character development or actual story. The kiss in the dressing room may be passionate and amazing as an individual scene, but there is precious little buildup to that point compared to Drake’s or Liam’s.
And this isn’t the first time this has happened. In Chapter 2, Hana and Drake both get diamond scenes, but Drake gets to relate the entire flashback even though Hana was literally there. This was one opportunity the writers had to let Hana’s Hot Chocolate scene be more than a catch-up exercise, given that she knew what Liam was planning as well and was as important a player in this game of chess, as Drake was. Yet Drake’s marshmallow-toasting scene, and Liam’s balcony scene in the first chapter, come out richer and more power-packed, than Hana’s.
Hana’s other scene this month, the diamond scene in Chapter 7, is a group scene that begins with her feelings of humiliation and failure, but winds up becoming about everyone else. While this largely worked, we must remember that it was advertised as a Hana scene, but had very little of her.
One would assume that after being the catalyst of a group diamond scene, Hana would get a pretty loaded scene this chapter - with plenty of history and development and a better understanding of her character. After all, Drake was given a group scene with Olivia in Chapter 5, and then an exclusive scene at an Italian restaurant in Chapter 6. It would make sense for Hana to receive the same…yet that isn’t what happens at all. She gets a scene that is several things at once, and we get to know little about her besides a tiny bit of trivia on her brush with modelling.
It isn’t as if Hana cannot have good scenes. Every scene of Hana’s in Book 1 was rich with background history and burgeoning confusing feelings. The Cordonian Waltz where she talks about her broken engagement. The piano scene where she trusts the MC enough to share her music. The binge eating in her room where she confesses her love to the MC for the first time. Her wishlist. All of these were beautiful, emotional experiences…and all of them helped us understand her better. The only Hana-centric diamond scene so far in Book 2, that even compares to the brilliance of these, is the Moonflower sequence in Chapter 4.
The three central places - Capri, Paris, China - are central to three different LIs, yes. And China will eventually be Hana’s home front, s so she may well get better scenes there. But this has never stopped the writers from giving Drake a wonderful scene in Capri or Liam one in Paris. So why do Hana’s scenes since the beginning of the engagement tour include so little of her?

Lake Nakuru National Park: February 25th, 2016
Two zebras in the tree cover
We all get out of the jeeps for a stretch at the gate of the park while our entrance fees and admission applications are being taken care of. First thing I notice is the heat. We make small talk about it being much hotter here than in Samburu. We are informed that Lake Nakuru is about flamingos and waterfowl.
Ken and the guides all return to the jeeps with our clearances to proceed into the national park. The ecology here is wetter, with tall tree cover and high grasses. Same lovely animals. Switch-backing across the countryside, the impalas and zebra are plentiful. The grass is long but Eric’s eagle eyes catch the slinking of a big cat cutting a path through the undergrowth. We pick up his trail, nudging the jeep along with him. He sprints for the wooded area, leaving us behind. This is the first leopard we have encountered that seems skittish of us. I suspect it is because this is a national park and not a private reserve or a conservation area. Here the animals are truly wild.
The leopard’s speed left me unable to get a decent picture. However, with our collection of cape buffalo, lion, rhino and elephants from this morning’s drive out of Samburu, we now have all of the big five and it isn’t even lunchtime yet.
We are welcomed to Lake Nakuru Lodge by friendly staff. It is a beautiful new resort on the top of the hill with a view to the lake below. Ken, our lead photographer, is apprehensive. He believes it is too far from the action, that we will waste more than half an hour driving down to the prime photography areas. Monique and I love the look of this place and we decide to skip the late afternoon game drive and go hang out at the pool.
Sopa Lodge Lake Nakuru
We read our books, drink beer under a huge shade umbrella and feel like princesses. Other guests splash all around us. The server opens the outside bar so we can order refreshments and it’s a pool-party atmosphere. A young man who works for the hotel comes over and chats with us, showing us a YouTube video of an ad for the lodge. He got the job of lead singer. He beams with pride as he says, “I am going to be famous.” He is already being hit up by agents. We wish him the “best of luck.”
Beads of sweat are forming on my brow from the humidity and I sit on the pool’s edge and dangle my feet into the the shallow end. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see large dark clouds forming and within moments huge droplets start splattering the ground. We grab our drinks and head into the lounge.
With no other occupants, we had the place to ourselves. I bring out my tablet, hook up to the WiFi and start to play Toto’s Africa. We sing karaoke into our beer cans while the rain pelts against the window panes. We still can’t believe we’re really in Africa.
Rainstorm Lake Nakuru Sophia Lodge
The rest of the group returns from the game drive and taunts us about the blue-eyed leopard we missed. We smile and nod, saying nothing, because we know they missed something special too.
February 26th, 2016
The jeep creeps slowly forward, half sliding, half driving. The road is washed out after the heavy rain. I have on my seat belt to keep from being tossed to the floor. Eric spots some baboons and careens to a stop to let us get pictures. I roll down my window and a large male is directly across from me. I snap a quick picture and within a bat of an eye, he has lunged out and his snout is in my camera lens. I’m convinced he is hanging off my window and is going to bite me. I try to escape but I am lashed in place by my seat belt. “Get the “f#%king seat belt off me!” I screech. Monique and Eric can’t move, they are rolling with laughter — by this time the baboon is nowhere in sight.
Large baboon that lunged up at me
I recover from my fright and we carry on further down the road. Up in the far branches is a black and white Colobus monkey. I had never heard of this type of monkey He moves away fast and I get marginal photos of him; such a shy handsome fellow.
“Can we get out Eric?”
We are sitting in the jeep staring at the waterfall. There is a baboon resting on the sign and Eric refuses to let us out till he moves away. So we sit patiently (sort of). Within five minutes that baboon leaps down scoots away. We get the “all-clear” to walk below the falls and listen to the water spill from high above. Eric does the honours with the camera, taking pictures of us. We linger just a little bit as there is a aroma of carrion in the air. We find the source of the smell as we drive across the wooden bridge — the remains of a kill partially submerged in the water along bank of the stream. I turn my head and look away from its still-open but clouded eyes.
This is the first actual mature forest we have seen. Well spaced but full canopy cover. The zebra gazelles forage, baboons groom each other and warthogs knuckle in the dirt. We come across a zebra struggling to move. His hind leg is swollen and he can’t put weight on it.. Monique and I, with our horse backgrounds, want to bandage his leg and help him out. Eric states the reality: he has fallen behind the safety of his herd and he will most likely not live the night. This is the law of the land, survival of the fittest. Fortunately life is prolific here and the cycle continues in its mysterious ways.
Seeing two males sparring tells me dominance and strength prevail to ensure the preservation of the best for the next generation.
We emerge from the forest onto the estuary of the lake. Our entire group congregates in the parking area. We welcome a chance to walk the shoreline. The lake is filled with waterfowl and pink flamingos. Unfortunately they are far away and my photos of them are grainy.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
On our return to the lodge we make a pass of the area where the movie Out of Africa was filmed and stop for final photos. As if on cue. a pride of lions comes out of the grass to explore the porch of the building, letting us get some amazing close-ups.
Lake Nakuru house from movie Out of Africa
Knowing this is our last full game drive here, I’m rubber-necking out the window, trying to soak it all in. Where else can you see forests filled with zebras, gazelles, giraffes and lions? The animals are all so visible, so close. This many animals together would only be akin to a pasture with cows at home, but here in this meadow they live in harmony. They can roam unimpeded by fences or property lines.
Tonight we dine and go to bed early. Tomorrow is a long drive to Lower Masai Mara. Please join me on my continued journey around Kenya. If you missed any of my adventure here are the previous parts:

Time May Change Me: I Missed You
Kristanna Week Day 4
Modern AU, Part 2 of 3
Rating: T (Traumatic themes, Trigger warning: house fire)
Words: 2831
Part 1
A/N: This starts up where yesterday’s fic left off.
“What are we gonna do?” Elsa sighed and looked up at the crumbling building before them. The outside was black and charred, and parts of the structure had burned up and fallen down. There was no way it was still inhabitable.
The police and an ambulance had shown up shortly after Anna’s outburst. Elsa excused herself to talk to an officer about some paperwork, leaving Anna still curled up in Kristoff’s lap. She clung to him and burrowed her face into his neck and wept softly. He couldn’t stand the thought of letting her go in this state, so he carried her over to the ambulance to get checked out. It had taken some convincing, but Anna eventually cooperated and let the EMT check her vital signs. He had slipped away from her while she was distracted to help the rest of his team.
The fire was out at that point, and the firefighters were reeling in their equipment and re-packing the truck.
“Hey, Bjorgman.” Jake called out and walked over to where Kristoff was loading up the used oxygen tanks. “Did you talk to them about where they’re staying tonight?”
“No, not yet. Why?”
“Just wondering. The little one seems pretty fond of you.” Jake gave Kristoff a pointed look while he tried to ignore his face getting hot.
“She’s just upset.” Kristoff busied himself rearranging several unused loops of rope.
“Sure.” Jake nodded and looked away. “Well, I just thought you might want to offer up the safehouse at the station as an option.” Jake looked over at Kristoff again with a smirk and clapped him on the back. “In case she gets upset again.”
Kristoff sighed as Jake waltzed away, seemingly proud of himself. He looked over to find the sisters sitting on the curb together. Anna had an emergency blanket wrapped tightly around her. He had to admit there was something he liked about her. They’d met under traumatizing circumstances about 3 hours prior, and she had almost given him a concussion from thrashing about, but he admired her determination. And her pretty eyes. And her freckles.
Snap out of it, Bjorgman. He shook his head and wiped his palm down his face before taking a deep breath and walking over to the sisters.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt.” He waved as he approached and the girls looked up at him. “I um, just wanted to check up on you two.”
“Thanks. We’re OK. As OK as we can be, I suppose.” Elsa responded with a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
Kristoff nodded and looked at Anna, who looked dazed but locked eyes with him until he looked away and cleared his throat.
“Um, have any of the officers talked to you about where to stay tonight?”
“No, we were wondering about that though.” Elsa bit the side of her cheek.
“Well, it isn’t much, but the station is also a safehouse. We have a room set up with some extra beds for emergencies. You’re welcome to stay as long as you need.”
“Oh, well thank you. We don’t have a lot of other options, so we’ll probably take you up on that.” Elsa sounded relieved and her smile looked more genuine.
“OK, cool. I’ll tell the guys and you can follow us back in your car, if you like.” Kristoff turned to head back to the truck.
“Can I ride in the firetruck?” Anna piped up.
“Oh, Uh. I don’t --” He turned his head back around to see Anna looking more vibrant than before. Her eyes sparkled in the light of the lamppost as they locked with his again. “Sure. Yes. Of course you can.” He said before he realized what had come out of his mouth. She smiled and turned to her sister.
“Can I?” Anna asked, bouncing her knees up and down. Elsa looked between her sister and Kristoff. He shrugged.
“OK.” Elsa said hesitantly. “But be careful, please.” She said this to Anna as well as Kristoff. He nodded his head in response.
“I love you, Elsa.” She hugged her sister before bounding up off the curb and joining Kristoff with a smile.
“I love you too. I mean it! Be careful! I’m following in the car!” Elsa shouted as Anna walked away.
Much to the chagrin of the other firefighters, he convinced them to let him and Anna ride upfront in the cab of the firetruck. He spent the entire ride talking her out of pushing buttons she didn’t need to be pressing and eventually had to pin her arms down to stop her from touching things. She didn’t seem to mind though, as she snuggled up to him and lay her head on his shoulder. She fell asleep quickly after that. When they arrived, he carefully picked her up and cradled her to his chest once again. Elsa met him with the same smirk he’d received from the members of his team and followed him into the station to their temporary shelter.
The next morning, Kristoff walked into the guest bunk-room carrying two paper cups of coffee. He spotted Elsa sitting at a long table, paperwork spread all around her. He cleared his throat.
“Oh, good morning!” She looked up and regarded him with a smile.
“Hi, I uh. I thought you guys might need some coffee.” He set the cups down on the corner of the table and proceeded to empty the contents of his pockets next to them, sugar packets and travel sized cream containers. “I wasn’t sure how you liked your coffee, so...” he trailed off.
“That was very thoughtful of you. Christopher, was it?”
“Just Kristoff.”
“Well thank you, just Kristoff. I’m surprised you’re still here.”
“Oh, I just got off. We usually work 12 hours, and then two days off. Where is ah...” He looked around the room until his eyes stopped on a lump of blankets with a mass of red hair poking out of the top.
“Anna’s still asleep, I’m afraid.” Elsa followed his gaze and smiled softly.
“Ah.” Kristoff looked down at the ground and shoved his hands in his pockets.
“Listen, I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for us.” Elsa started.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Just doing my job.” Kristoff recited quickly.
“Well, I also mean what you’ve done for Anna.”
“Oh, um.” Kristoff met Elsa’s eyes briefly before chancing a glance at the bunk Anna was sleeping in.
“You’ve been very kind to her. She’s been through a lot lately. She deserves some kindness. So thank you.”
“Yeah. It was nothing, really.” He coughed and brought his hand up to rub the back of his neck, willing the redness to stop spreading across his face.
“You like her, don’t you?” Elsa asked and Kristoff’s head shot up with eyes wide. Elsa laughed. “I only ask because I think she likes you too.”
“Oh...you think so?” Kristoff hesitated before glancing at her bunk once again.
“A sister knows.” Elsa smiled. “I can tell her you stopped by. If she ever wakes up, that is. She’s a pretty heavy sleeper...but I guess you know that by now.” Elsa chuckled. Kristoff coughed in response and fumbled to pull a card out of his back pocket.
“Right. Well, here’s my card. If you two need anything at all, please let me know.” He placed it on the table next to the coffees and hurried out the door.
A few days later the sisters stood outside of their parents house. It looked even worse in the daylight. Anna grabbed Elsa’s hand as they approached the scene. A different team of firefighters were wading through the rubble to assess the damage and make sure it was safe enough for people to walk around in. One of the firefighters approached them.
“It looks like a total loss, unfortunately.” He looked between the two girls.
“Yes, I thought so. I’ve already made a claim with our insurance.” Elsa responded while Anna looked away and willed her tears not to come.
“That’s a good start, ma’am.” He cleared his throat. “If you’d like to follow me inside, we can see if there’s anything worth saving. I’m afraid there won’t be much, though.”
They followed him inside, stepping where he told them to and avoiding the holes and burnt obstacles along the way. The inside of the house was unrecognizable. The furniture was mostly gone; the cushions had all burned up into a pile leaving only the charred frames. Most of the books were burned as well, leaving only partial pieces in tact. Elsa gasped at the sight, but kept herself as pulled together as she could, if only for her sister.
Anna was already in tears, with her hands over her mouth in disbelief. All that her parents left them was gone. Anna made her way through the rubble to her old room. The walls were blackened with smoke, including all of the posters that once hung there. Her bed looked a lot like the rest of the furniture, with the frame standing, but not much else. She walked toward the dresser and picked up a framed photo that looked relatively unscathed. The metal edges were black and the glass was cloudy, but the picture was still clear. It was from the last big family vacation they’d taken before Anna left for school. They stood huddled together in front of an exhibit at Animal Kingdom with several baby elephants playing in the background. She rubbed the glass against her shirt and held it to her chest, while memories flooded her head. She slowly walked back to the front of the house.
Elsa stood with a frown and her arms folded while the firefighter talked to her about the cleanup process and requesting help from some local organizations. She excused herself when she saw Anna approach. Anna held out the photo without a word and handed it to her sister. Elsa examined as several tears escaped her eyes, but she wiped them away hurriedly and threw her arms around Anna.
“I miss them, Elsa.” Anna cried into her sister’s shoulder.
“I know, Anna. I miss them too.” Elsa squeezed a little tighter as Anna began to shake and gasp between sobs.
Kristoff turned down Lakewood and headed toward the large house he’d been to a few days prior. He wasn’t on duty, but he’d wanted to see how bad the damage was. And if he so happened to bump into a certain redhead, well that was OK too. His hands gripped the steering wheel as he approached the house and began to second guess his actions. Was this too creepy? Would she even want to see him? She was bound to be in an emotional state after returning, especially after putting up such a fight the night it happened. Then again, her sister had said she liked him. She’d seemed to give her blessing for him to talk to her. But maybe she was wrong and it was just the stress of the situation. Maybe she just wanted comfort in the moment and was glad to forget about him when he left. He had left his card in hopes that she would call him, but maybe that was expecting too much.
He stopped in front of the house and parked, but sat in his truck. He watched a few of his colleagues walk in and out of the house carefully with clipboards in hand. He knew they were trying to find the cause of the fire, and he didn’t envy them. Searching for clues in a house-sized pile of ash and rubble was about as hard as it sounded. It was a task they all had to participate in, but one of his least favorite.
He went back and forth in his head about what he was really doing there and whether he should just leave before anyone noticed him. He rested his forehead on his steering wheel and smacked his head against it a few times for good measure. He hadn’t noticed the two sisters emerge from the house, or the smirk that Elsa had plastered on her face when she recognized his blonde mop, or her coaxing Anna to approach him. He heard a tap on the window and he almost jumped out of his seat. The look of terror on his face softened when he saw Anna give him a small wave and point to the passenger door. He unlocked it, unsure of whether she wanted to come in or wanted him to come out, but she opened the door and climbed into his truck.
“Hi.” she said softly.
“Hey.” He shifted in his seat to face her.
“I got your coffee. After I woke up, I mean. Elsa told me you came by.” Anna looked down at her lap and absentmindedly picked at a hole forming in her jeans.
“Oh yeah, it was nothing.” He stared at her and couldn’t think of anything else to say. You are terrible at this.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you here today. Elsa told me you were probably off.” Anna sniffed and wiped her nose on the sleeve of her baby blue hoodie. Her face was red and puffy. She’d obviously been crying.
“Oh, I am.” He wiped his sweaty palms on his pants. “I just...wanted to check on...some things.” Kristoff inwardly cursed at himself.
“Oh. What sort of...things are you checking on?” Anna folded her hands in her lap and looked at him.
“Um.” He exhaled loudly. “I. Honestly? I was looking for you. And your sister.” he added hastily. “I stopped by the station, but I obviously missed you...and your sister.” He coughed. Smooth.
“You missed me?” Anna squeaked out. Her eyes grew into large blue saucers that almost rendered Kristoff speechless.
“Well, I. Uh. I meant I went looking for you and you weren’t there. So I came here.” He met her eyes and swore he saw some of the light leave.
“Oh. Yeah. That’s obviously what you meant.” She let out a small sad laugh and looked out the window toward her house.
“But, I mean...I guess it’s possible that I also...missed missed you.” What the hell does that even mean, Bjorgman?
“Oh,” she turned back to look at him and offered a small smile. “That’s good.” She laughed and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. “So...” she started.
“So.” He breathed out.
“You found me. Now what?”
“Ah. Well. I, um. I hadn’t really thought that far.”
“OK.” She giggled and it was music to his ears. Her eyes crinkled as she smiled and he wanted to lose himself in them.
“I suppose. I just wanted to see you again.” Wait, what?
“Oh.” She was quiet, but not unpleasantly so.
“I was wondering.” He stopped, pushing away his inner critic. “I was wondering if I couldseeyouagain?” He rushed the last part, to guarantee the words made it out. “Maybe we could go get coffee or something. I mean, like real coffee, not fire station coffee.”
“Oh!” She sounded surprised. “That’s very sweet of you.” She bit her lip and looked down at her hands.
“Or, or we don’t have to do that. We don’t have to do anything. I just. I’m sorry, I think I misread something.”
“NO, no, it’s not that.” She reached out and grabbed his hand that had been resting on his knee. They both looked at it before she continued. “I would love to. I just. Maybe not today?” She sighed. “I have no idea where my life is going at this point and I just lost...I lost the one thing that still made sense...and now that’s fallen apart like the rest of my life.” She gasped and tried to hide her face as she started crying again.
He scooted to the middle of the truck’s bench seat and reached for her without thinking. She let his arms envelope her and pull her to rest against his chest. She nuzzled into him like it was second nature and he stroked her hair.
“M’sorry.” She muffled into his shirt.
“Don’t be. I’m not very good at asking girls out.” He laughed and she looked up at him. She looked confused.
“No, not for that. For crying all over you.” She lay her head back down on his shoulder. “I want to get coffee with you. Just...later. When I’m not as sad.” She sniffled and adjusted herself closer to him.
“I can definitely work with that,” he smiled easily and rocked slowly back and forth. “And for the record, I don’t mind you crying on me.”
“Good. ‘cuz you’re really comfy.” She snuggled her head into his neck with a contented sigh.
“Are you going to fall asleep on me again?”
“Mmm. I dunno what you’re talking ‘bout.” She slurred her words and drifted off.

All That Remains of Lance McClain Part 3
hey all, sorry i wasn’t as active recently, I had to study for an exam that i really really needed to pass! Anyway, here’s part 3 of my what remains of edith finch au
i had some trouble coming up with a way to connect lance to the game in a way that would make sense, considering how the game actually plays out in the end and i think i’ve come up with a good alternative?? anyway, please enjoy! I did cut it off at a cliff hanger, bc i felt like it was getting a bit too long. I will be continuing it soon, so don’t worry abt that!
Preview:
Keith looked up to see Hunk rooting through several cassettes before pulling one labeled ‘McClain House and family history, by Alexa McClain for Lance McClain.’ Pidge, who’s eye had been caught by an innocuous looking cassette player, grabbed it and handed it to Hunk, who put the cassette into it.
Lance had been in the pod for all of a week, and the tension was mounting within the castle of lions.
Everyone was trying to occupy themselves. Hunk spent a majority of the time working on repairing Blue or cluttering around in the kitchen or just chilling next to Lance’s pod, chattering softly to his comatose best friend. Pidge was hell bent on coding, taking very brief breaks for food and water, eyes red rimmed and dry every time they wandered into the kitchen. Keith isolated himself to the training deck, the bridge, his own room, he just generally avoided the others best he could.
Shiro and Allura were too busy forming alternate plans for Galra attacks, and Coran spent much time either monitoring Lance’s progress or obsessively cleaning every inch of the castle. He was still cheery, greeting everyone and starting conversations, but everyone could tell his heart wasn’t truly in it.
Everyone tried to avoid one another in some way. The elephant in the room was too big to truly confront at this moment in time while Lance was still in the pod. They wanted to talk about the vision, the last glimpse they’d gotten into Lance’s head before the electric blast had cut off his connection fully from them. They didn’t know how to approach it, the mystery of Lance’s origins starting to crack, laying waste to the comfortable foundation the blue paladin had laid for the team, helping to bring them together. That familiarity and comfort was gone now, shattered and leaving the paladins floundering for answers to questions they didn’t know who to ask.
So they waited. And as one week passed into two, then three, the team came together in a clash of hurtful accusations and floundering panic. They hadn’t truly realised the extent to which Lance helped to keep them together, the glue that helped the paladins form the bonds of friendship and camaraderie. Keith looked like he was about to throttle Pidge, who stood next to Hunk defensively, Shiro holding Keith back by his right arm. Allura and Coran could only watch helplessly as the paladins crumbled, lack of sleep and the gaping hole of their missing Blue leaving jagged, open and undefended minds and hearts laid bare.
Blue roared in her hangar, and brought the fighting to a stop. Images flashed within the paladins’ minds, their Lions connecting together to help Blue reach the paladins. Images of Lance in the cockpit, taking out and hiding stacks of notebooks, cassettes, letters, reading them, looking at Polaroid photos in the comfort and security of his Lion.
Blue beckoned them, invited them in, showed them the hidden compartment within her flight deck. She was tired of the tension, the bickering, the uncertainty. She knew her paladin’s team mates needed answers, and she would give them. Perhaps then her cub would heal, the mind wounds festering and growing inside him as the team fell apart. She needed to bring them together, to tether Lance to this plane of existence. She refused to let him slip quietly, without a fight, from this world, into the claws of the darkness that hungered for him.
Hunk was the first to reach the hangars, marching over to Blue and scrambling into her cockpit, immediately reaching for the hidden stash of secrets that Lance had kept from them. He needed to know, felt the itch of unknown knowledge claw at his fingertips as he grabbed everything hidden within. Hearing the others rush into the hangar, Hunk gingerly came back out, holding the stack of ancient looking information gently, carefully, afraid of damaging his friend’s property.
“Hunk, I really think we should wait for Lance to come to us with this! We’re betraying his trust by snooping into his past, I know you’re upset but-”
Hunk glared at Shiro, holding the stack tightly to his chest, away from his leader’s reaching grip, “No. We need to find out what’s happening to Lance. We need to know what’s been bothering him so much that he didn’t feel comfortable with telling us in the first place. We-” Hunk broke off, taking in a sharp breath as he tried to keep himself from crying, “I need to know, Shiro.”
The older paladin faltered, eyes shutting. Shiro just, felt so tired. Lance’s continued stay within the healing pods was taking so much emotional energy from the team. Opening his dark eyes and looking at the anxious group before him, he breathed deeply. His own intrinsic need to know what had been bothering Lance washing over him as he saw the pleading look in Hunk’s and Pidge’s expressions, Keith’s fierce worry, Allura and Coran’s bone deep exhaustion and found himself nodding, “Alright. Let’s go to the living room and... take a look at this.”
The group shuffled out of the hangars, calmly walking into the living area and spreading themselves out over the floor. Pillows were stripped from the couches for comfortable seating as Pidge helped Hunk spread the collection of notebooks, letters, photos, cassettes, cassette player and paintings over the floor between everyone.
The group faltered. There was just... so much here. Where would they start? How would they know what to read to truly understand what and why Lance had hidden this from them.
As always when it came to impulsive decisions, Keith snatched up the newest looking notebook. “’Property of Alexa McClain, for-” He faltered, shoulders slumping, “-for Lance McClain.’” Looking up from the cover of the book, he met the eyes of everyone in the circle, a flash of uncertainty marring his features. After all, he knew he and Lance weren’t the closest of the paladins, and this felt too personal for Keith to read. However, the want to know Lance, to understand him better as a friend and team mate, drove Keith to continue.
Opening the notebook, he was slightly disappointed to see one short written note. He could see the crossed out beginnings of earlier notes, the hesitance of the writer clear, as if they didn’t know how to begin, “A lot of this isn’t going to make sense to you, and I’m sorry about that. I was hoping to one day tell you about the wonders of our family, but just in case, I’ve left a video recording for you to try and help you understand why this happened to you.”
A video recording flickered to life on the small screen, which led to Allura standing up, hunting for something to hopefully enlarge the image so they could all see it clearly. After having found it, they connected it with some difficulty to the cassette player before starting the video again. There were a few moments of shaky fiddling with the camera before a young woman appeared on the screen, a bright-if a little sad-smile stretching her full lips and freckled cheeks beautifully. Brown skin seemed to glow healthily in the sunlight as she waved to the video camera, blue eyes sparkling.
The team were entranced by the young woman, who tucked a loose lock of curly brown hair behind her ear. She seemed to be standing on the edge of a forest, a warm jacket-Shiro was struck with the knowledge that it was Lance’s jacket- covering her shoulders, well worn gloves wrapped her hands and fingers comfortably. The camera dipped slightly and the team’s breath caught as they saw the glimpse of a slightly rounded belly under a faded gray shirt spattered with glittery stars and planets, the words ‘Nasa, show me the aliens’ written in a bold silver across what was clearly a pregnancy bump.
The woman seemed to lift it up again, camera still shaking as she muttered lowly before clearing her throat, bright smile firmly in place once more, “Hello Lance,” She started, voice soft and sweet, “Oh, God, that sounded awfully formal, I’m giving you the wrong impression of me.” She giggled, blue eyes bright with happiness as she adjusted the camera once again, “Let’s start over. Hey there Lance, it’s me, your mom, Alexa, which you probably already know,” She giggled again, “This is gonna be a long video, so you might wanna grab something to eat, drink and find somewhere to sit comfortably. You can pause the video, don’t worry, I’ll still be here when you get back.”
There was a short pause before Alexa shuffled slightly, a soft look in her eyes, “You comfy? Yeah? Okay, let’s begin,” her smile faltered slightly as she sighed, the team settling back comfortably as they watched this woman, Lance’s mom, on the screen. Pidge lay on their belly, Hunk leaned back on his hands, eyes never leaving the screen, in awe of how much Lance and Alexa looked similar. Keith seemed to lay back, using a couple of pillows to prop himself up, Shiro sitting cross-legged next to him. Coran and Allura were curled up together, the mice taking up residence within Allura’s long hair.
“So,” Alexa began, the movement in the background of the film suggesting that she’d started walking, “I guess I should start at the beginning, with the house.”
Alexa’s eyes drifted away from the camera briefly as she stepped over a fallen branch, careful to keep her footing and the camera as steady as possible. She knew, logically, that she probably shouldn’t have come here while four months pregnant, but something about the time had seemed right when she’d found the letter her mother had left for her. Recently 18, the young woman felt that, considering her family history, that she should leave something behind for her son should anything happen to her.
“I lived here till I was eleven, but I wasn’t allowed inside half of the rooms,” She continued from where she’d left off, moving the camera to catch sight of the family house looming in the distance. It looked just as she and her mother had left it all those years ago, tall and imposing against the sky line, a hodge-podge of built in rooms and areas of the house stacked crookedly atop one another. A tower rose from one side of the room in counterpoint to the relatively tree-house looking other side of the roof. Alexa thought she could perhaps hear the creaking of the buildings as a gust of wind swept past her, sending her hair batting into her face.
Spitting hair from out of her mouth, her eyes locked onto a tree nearby. The washed out, moldy image of a missing persons poster left a stab of pain in her heart; the camera was pointed to the slightly blurry image of a happily smiling boy, a paper crown resting atop his curly hair. She could almost feel the mischief pouring out from his grayed our eyes before she locked eyes with the camera once more, “My brother Cameron went missing when I was four,” She said seriously, a frown pursing her lips up sadly, “It was like the house had swallowed him up. I hadn’t been back since my brother Joseph’s funeral.”
She paused as she walked comfortably for a while longer, taking in the sights of the forest around her with a small, barely there smile. She turned her attention back to the camera as she rounded the curved edge of the road. A mailbox came into view, and Alexa found herself grinning at the sight of the miniature family house that played the mailbox. Opening it, she grimaced at the mail left inside, the smell of mold and wet paper making her feel slightly nauseous. “Looks like there’s still bills in here from seven years ago...” Alexa muttered, pulling them out after opening the mailbox, flitting through them, snickering at the ‘urgent, open immediately’ that was stamped on the envelopes. Putting them back inside the mailbox, she shut it before turning the camera back to her face.
“In her will, my mother left me a key, but didn’t tell me what it unlocked,” Alexa huffed, walking down the winding path, coming closer and closer to the old house. There was a sense of discomfort, a feeling that the house was waking up, waiting for her, “Maybe she thought I’d know... Or maybe she thought the mystery would be enough to bring me back .” Alexa knew she was probably just talking to fill in the silence, but she felt that she needed to distract herself from where she was going. Through muscle memory, she turned into the small, narrow and steep path to the side of the road, where the sign ‘The McClains’ pointed her to.
“The truth is,” she murmured, “even after I inherited the house, I never thought I’d come back to it.” She paused, looking down the path and felt an overwhelming wave of nostalgia wash over her, “But I knew I had questions about my, our family that only the house knew the answers to.”
Alexa felt determination fill her, despite the discomforting feeling she got from both the house and the woods surrounding her, “The woods around the house have always been uncomfortably silent, as if they’re about to say something but never... do...” She trailed off, allowing the silence of the forest to permeate the video for a moment, before she continued her trek.
It wasn’t long before she came across the house. Standing in the shadow of the family house, Alexa felt as if she had gone back to being that small, helpless eleven year old again. The thought squeezed her heart as she tipped her head back, the hand not holding the camera coming to rest on her rounded belly protectively. Here, in the stillness of the woods, the house looming above her, she could clearly remember that old fear from her childhood, the fear that the house would just swallow her up and never let her go. She shuddered, partly from the cooling Autumn air and partly from the uneasy feeling she got from staring at the house. “It looks exactly like it did when we left... looks exactly like how I’ve dreamt about it these past seven years...” She murmured softly, shoulders tensing as she looked away from the house.
Breathing deep, she started walking up to the house, hands shaking slightly as she did. “You know, as a kid, I used to be really scared of the house,” Alexa hummed, letting her hand gently trail over the overgrown garden fences, “I couldn’t ever really explain why.” She mumbled, walking up the porch, spotting the old pots and potting earth left behind by her family oh so long ago.
Coming up to the door, she held up the small key left to her by her mother, frowning when she inserted it into the lock and it didn’t open. “Damn, I thought this would unlock the front door.” She huffed, kneeling down to look through the mail slot and into the house. A chill rushed down her spine as she did so. It felt like the house had been... waiting for her to come back. Swallowing thickly, Alexa stood back up, looking around for a moment. Softly, she could hear the chiming of wind bells coming from the side of the house, and chuckled softly before turning to go past the front of the house and towards the side.
Coming up to the side door, she paused to tap on the wind chime, sending a soft tinkling over the silent forest. Inserting the key into the door, she frowned as it, too, didn’t unlock. Glancing down, Alexa saw the old, cracked doggy-door and frowned, before groaning. “Looks like this is the only way inside, huh, Lancey?” She cooed to her belly, kneeling in front of the doggy door and moving the flap to the side. Pushing the camera through the doggy-door, she crawled into the house, bracing her hand against the door behind her to help herself get up. Alexa pat her hands clean on her jeans, before bending and picking the camera back up from the floor, “Used to be a lot easier when I was just eleven.” She grumbled, sending an unamused look into the camera before pointing it to look into the garage.
Turning back to the door, she tried to flip on the lights, groaning when it didn’t turn on, “Right, the power was turned off the night mom and I left...” Alexa sighed, turning to walk around the old, abandoned car and towards the door she knew would lead into the kitchen area. She allowed the camera to trail over the wood working spaces, catching the soft rays of sunlight that filtered in through the upper windows of the garage, remembering days where she and her brothers, great-grandmother Emma and mom would work on various house projects that had to be done.
Opening the door to the kitchen, Alexa breathed out a soft sound, a wave of welcoming, dread, and wistfulness coming over her. The kitchen, messy and unorganized, left the way it had been that last night in the house, greeted her and the camera. Dishes were still piled up in the sink, unopened cans of salmon sat on the counter tops, and she could barely, but just about, see the opened and abandoned boxes of Chinese food on the dining table from where she stood.
She was silent for a moment, taking in the dilapidated, dirty old kitchen. Turning the camera to her face, ignoring her own watery eyes and sadder smile, she cleared her throat, “Welcome home, Lance and Alexa.”

The travel from Kuwait airport to Bangkok was 1 day to Phuket 5 days to Bangkok 1 day to Kuwait. Internal flight from Bangkok to Phuket and from Phuket to Bangkok thai airways, there is no delay in your appointments booked online from https://www.thaiairways.com/en/book/booking.page? And take your mind there refunded tickets and there not refund while you booking
Bangkok
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and the largest city in the world visited by tourists in 2018 claimed about 22 million tourists do your account that you are going to a country crowded. I stayed in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport very beautiful and very large 3 floors and very very very organized and no one speaks (all in case)
I bought truemove company sim calls and net fit 8 days approx. 200 THB two companies after weight like a booth and a tip turned your money to me currency country THB for a few who uses the dollar i stayed at a hotel named Sinsuvarn Airport Suite Hotel in Bangkok my advice to you “DONT GO THERE EVER” or even think to go there the only advantage is that it is close to the airport 10 minutes and free shuttle take or drop to Airport i waited in the airport one hour to come the pictures of this hotel is so good in booking.com don’t tried you will regret it anyways when i returned from Phuket i stayed in Bangkok another hotel
Ibis Bangkok Riverside The hotel is very nice. The hotel is located on the river Chao Phraya and very close to the mall called iconsiam . The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I got a problem with the hotel because deposit money for almost 500 THB, return it back when u leave anyways the another problem was (my booking.com)the room with the pool view not available the stuff of Reception will tell you that tell them make my room available please or i will cancel all “return my money” and talk with manager that what happened to me. the good thing it was one in the reception named Dong in reception hi is super good. the things you can do in Bangkok 1- Yacht with dinner 1500 THB from 7pm 2-shopping in the iconsiam Mall almost 7 floors in the ground floor where the market the prices is reasonable, but the market is cheaper than the name of the Arab market (Nana Road or Arab neighborhood) This is far from the Ibis Hotel by a quarter of an hour Of course, there are many other needs, but I have been only one day in Bangkok.
Phuket : And hard is a paradise of God on earth
I booked the airport Phuket airport taxi to Baumanburi Hotel near Patong Beach 900 THB and if you know taxi driver it would be 650 to 750 THB and watch out don’t book for trips by any company it will be expensive and same i will tell you some guy u can book everything from him even taxi driver cheaper and trust worthy . Baumanburi Hotel is very beautiful and clean.
near to “bab elharah” shawarma Arabic restaurant very good and Cairo restaurant sea food but is so expensive , the hotel close to bangla road (+18) in the end of the street a lot of Arab restaurant is far from the hotel 10 minutes, there also shopping OTOP Market far 2 minutes , in 711 supermarket , near to also Jungceylon Shopping Center Mall air conditioner if the air humidity and hardrock
It is important to stay in Thailand taking trips, to see the beauty of the country this man i strongly recommended him for trust worthy and cheap prices only disadvantage that you need to contact him before the timing of your trip half hour but talk to him before your trip one day to book
The name of the man is Romel +66869444253 cheaper than the tourist office for trips in front of this hotel and taxi for airport you won’t see anyone lowest prices than him
The trips that I went about an hour from hotel to go to the boat: And my advice before you go buy protection of the mobile and a shoulder bag leather for rain or water in general and anyways before you go the company in that trips itself offering you shops before you go to the boats
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
1 – Phi Phi Island and the island of Kai and the island of Mia and Green 4 islands there two chooses for boat speedboat or big boat depending on the weather speedboat if there a lot humidity and big boat if you want enjoy nature anyways you gonna snorkeling in each island until you go to phi phi island to take launch almost an hour then go to another island to swim this trip from 7 am to 5 pm for 1100 THB. 2- bangla walking street (+18) whole street shopping and shops eating and nightlife, there also small shows, Massage Thai, but take care about lady boy. there also Patong beach and Jungceylon Shopping Center Mall and advice do shopping in Phuket cheaper than Bangkok. 3-fantasea show with dinner and transportation from/to hotel for 1850 THB you won’t find the price cheaper only with Rommel ,Fantasea Show in the Palace (Palace of the Elephant) you will enjoy it either if you going with your family or friends .trip from 7 pm to 11 pm. 4.James Bond Island
Things needs to take care of them
Food there is not good or maybe we are not used to it and it smell hard in the whole country
Eating is not halal and generally eat only is written halal, whether in the supermarket or restaurants, the fruit is very good and sea food also there people saying you should takes types of creams and medicine for insects i didn’t need any or possible for wild trips and God knows best.
Humidity and raining there a lot needed to buy a ballistic bag for your body and also for your mobile,
The prices there is not cheap as some people say, but the product is definitely cheaper
There are few people who speak English but they are so kind
Tip before you travel download from Google map offline for cities you gonna visit
Tip OCTOBER month was very, very, very humidity. go in last days of November until March and God knows better
This was a summary of my experience in Thailand, even if there is any question that I am in the service and so sorry for that much talk Thanks

Episode Review - Sinbad 2x16 - “The Gryphon’s Tale”
In which Sinbad meets up with another old girlfriend and gets dragged behind a cart. Also, there is some pretty good CGI, Bryn gets something to do this episode, Dermott is once again underused, and Firouz saves the day with more explosive weaponry.
(Photos from Far Far Away.)
We open on the boat, en route to a harvest festival and feast and a rendezvous with Deanna, another old flame of Sinbad. So, something for everyone, really.
The festival is to honor the local deity, the Great Gryphon, a statue of which can be seen in the background. For once, the villagers are happy to see them, including the dude in red, Deanna’s father Toren, the village elder. Apparently, the festival means you get to wear hats.
Meanwhile, a big game hunter is leading a crew of torch-carrying minions, and trying to feed drugged meat to a baby gryphon.
Right now, the baby is sleeping. Aww. This is pretty good CGI, as the show goes. (The gryphon really does look like Dermott. Bet he was a model for the CGI animators)
Deanna's happy to see Sinbad...
...though that doesn't stop her from slapping him in the face. “That’s for standing me up in Basra.”
Poor Sinbad: “I can explain.... I think. Give me a minute. Look, there were these harpies... REALLY! Are you listening?”
“Not really. ... I bet they were all female, too.”
Toren is not about to let a little romantic awkwardness get in the way of the feast, though!
Cut to the big game hunter in the cave again. The baby gryphon woke up, and so it ends up getting stabbed before it’s drugged into sleep. The big game hunter is very unhappy about damaging his prize, and grumps about it. Then he stabs the villager who betrayed his people by taking the hunter to the gryphon’s cave. His minions load the baby gryphon into a cage on a wagon and cart it off. This will end well.
Doubar is recounting the battle from "The Vengeance of Rumina" to rapt attention....
until Bryn starts mumbling "No". "Bryn, you weren't even there!" - and you're interrupting my story! Doubar protests, but Bryn is possessed again.
Sadly, Sinbad's makeout heart to heart with Deanna gets interrupted by Bryn's trance.
There's a lot of screeching and Bryn yells "SHE'S COMING!" and another village runs past shouting about intruders and Sinbad starts to run off, onle to be stopped by another screech. Toren thinks it's the Great Gryphon... and this is not good.
Anyway. the big game hunter is leading a convoy of men, including the wagon with the caged baby gryphon.
Too bad Sinbad is leading a mob of confused villagers right in his way!
Our antagonist solves this by trying to run everybody down and kidnapping Deanna.
So Sinbad starts chasing after them.
He actually gets pretty far, and had he been able to open the cage, this episode would be very, very short. However, the baby gryphon wakes up, snaps at his arm, and he falls off the cart and gets left behind. Ow.
Happily, Doubar and Rongar show up on horseback to rescue him.
Okay, so I'd been quietly nursing a Sinbad/Rongar crack ship based on their scenes together this season, so this just makes me CRACK UP. Rongar is so good at getting shit done. The two hottest male characters on the show getting together? If there weren't such a tiny fandom, (or if there was any hint of canonical support), I'd be surprised this pairing wasn't more popular.
Back in the village, everybody's trying to figure out what to do when the mother gryphon attacks.
Rongar saves someone from being swept away by the force of the gryphon's wings.
Well, that was freaky. Guess gryphons are real after all, says the resident skeptic-turned-magizoologist.
Eventually, the gryphon flies away, but everyone gets the message that she's seriously pissed.
Between Bryn's magical link with the mother gryphon and what Sinbad saw in the cage, the crew figures out that they need to retrieve the baby gryphon for the mother to calm down and not destroy the village. Okay!
... so Sinbad takes Bryn and Rongar with him, while Firouz and Doubar get to stay behind and take care of the villagers. Oh, and mind the hawk.
Sinbad is so overprotective of Dermott now that Maeve is gone. A side effect of this treatment is that Dermott is tragically underused, and functions mostly as a living accessory for Bryn rather than an actual characters, credits notwithstanding.
(I was really hoping Dermott would have a special bond with the gryphon, but no dice.)
Our mysterious antagonist kidnapped Deanna mostly to as a hostage in case the villagers try to rescue the gryphon. When she protests that Sinbad will rescue her anyway, he mentions he's always wanted to fight "the legendary creature" Sinbad. Tee hee. This will end well.
Malek orders a hapless lackey into the gryphon's cage to clean its wound. The poor dude gets eaten instead. Malek's not terribly disappointed by this, but everybody else looks grim.
Malek sends a decoy cart along the main roads to the pasha's big city, where he's taking the gryphon to sell to the ruler's zoo. Sinbad correctly deduces that it could be a trap but runs off to investigate anyway.
Meanwhile, Firouz and Dermott are standing lookout, waiting for the mother gryphon to return and kill everybody.
Deanna is taking a sponge bath at the stream, when Malek comes to talk to her. He talks like he wants to seduce her, but it's mostly just to brag about his plans to sell the gryphon to the pasha’s zoo and how she can't do anything to stop him. Super creepy.
Also he brags about what a good hunter he is: "Elephants in Mombasa, dragons in China, a sphinx in Egypt."
... WAIT. THERE ARE CANONICAL DRAGONS. WHY CAN'T WE SEE THEM??
Sinbad, Rongar and Bryn find the decoy caravan. How does Rongar decide when to throw a dirk versus swinging the sword or punching people? It seems kinda random.
Bryn discovers the cart is empty just as the mother gryphon attacks. Our heroes flee for the woods, but Malek's goons aren't so lucky. Happily for Sinbad, the goons reveal their true destination before they die.
Dermott shows up just in time for Sinbad to write the name of their destination on a scrap of parchment to take to Doubar and Firouz back in the village. Sinbad really talks down to Dermott, and Dermott refuses to take the message until Bryn offers it to him. This is going to be so awkward when Dermott's true nature is revealed.
The pasha's city, Inkra, is basically the same as Baghdad from 1x01. There's even a guy wearing the same outfit as Prince Casib. Apparently, lavender never goes out of style.
Anyway, Malek and his goons have to hang out in the marketplace with the caged gryphon until the pasha arrives. He's late because he has to put on his special dress outfit. Malek is not pleased with the delay.
Malek lets Deanna go, but threatens to kill her if she tries to free the gryphon or otherwise interfere with him.
No one can recognize our heroes now!
Sinbad looks so cool and casual eating an apple he totally stole.
... but subtle is not his style.
Deanna tries to run to free the gryphon, but of course gets trapped. Fortunately, Rongar throws a dirk and gets Malek to drop his sword and let her go. I think the dirk bounces off Malek's armor so it doesn't kill him, sadly. (That's Sinbad's job.)
Nothing like a fight to get the crowd excited.
Sinbad knows he looks good.
This being Sinbad, there's an inevitable rooftop chase sequence.
Rongar and Bryn are ambushed by Malek's remaining minions before they can open the cage to free the gryphon. They are rescued by Firouz, who has a fucking BAZOOKA! (Or at least the shoulder-mounted version of his cannon from 1x22.)
I think we can all agree that Firouz is never more in his element than when he's blowing stuff up. At least the crew never makes fun of him for it.
"Science, I love it," he says as he hoists it off his shoulder. Don't we all?
He then proceeds to use it as a weapon to BLOCK SWORDS which is a) awesome and b) so damn impractical because I know it would be damaged from impact. Who does the metalworking/gunsmithing in this universe, anyway? I think about this, but I don't actually care because THIS IS AWESOME and I want a gifset of it.
Doubar opens the cage with his super-strength. Suddenly, Firouz is face to face with an angry gryphon. Firouz just stands there - in a spirit of scientific curiosity, no doubt - while the baby gryphon snaps and roars at him. It takes him a moment to realize he should duck. I love Firouz so much.
The baby gryphon flies away and is reunited with its mother. Aww. Peace is restored to the land.
Meanwhile, in the rooftop battle, Sinbad uses the whip to hold himself up while he flings Malek into the air. Malek is impaled on a spike. Ouch.
Quoth Deanna, That's SO hot.
Not ever pictured: the pasha, showing up late in his party outfit, wondering where the hell his gryphon is. At least everybody in the marketplace got a great show!
Back on the boat, Doubar teases Sinbad about Deanna, but Sinbad is so not interested in going along with it. Note Rongar's expression in the background, clearly trying not to laugh.
...Welp, that was awkward. Time to chat with Bryn!
Bryn is a little jealous of the gryphons for having a family and for belonging, since she has no memories of either. "Well, you could always stay behind with the gryphons," Sinbad teases. "Thank you, Mr. Sentiment," Bryn laughs.
Okay. Um. I get that Sinbad is often uncomfortable with deep emotional topics and reverts to humor as a way of getting out of it, but here is the part where you could SUGGEST THE CREW COULD BE FAMILY TO HER. You know, the way you guys did in 1x10 when Rongar was Scratch's prisoner. This could have been a totally poignant moment instead of a throwaway joke, I'm just saying.
So, overall, this was a "meh" episode for me. The gryphons were cool, but something just didn't work for me in the way the story was set up and structured. Also, I'm annoyed by the missed opportunity for emotional connection at the end. BUT FIROUZ HAS A FRIKKIN' BAZOOKA, so it's definitely not all bad.
