I don’t knowwww what this is but I love this senbon user.
Genma x femreader
Part two here
Your feet land on the road a little ways away from the gate, jumping from the treetops and landing silently.
You’ve been gone for awhile, on a deep undercover mission that kept you away for a few years and you were ready to finally be home again.
You get to the closed gate and feel your heart skip when Genma appears in front of you
“State your name and business” he says and clicks his senbon against his teeth.
You place a hand on your hip, fingers messing with your headband around your waist as a belt as you smirk “I know I’ve been gone a while Genma, but I didn’t think I was that forgettable to you” you raise your hand and cover your heart “my heart actually hurts”
You watch the recognition enter his eyes as he smiles with the senbon in his teeth “y/n. It’s so good to see you” he says and pulls you into a hug. “You too Genma” you say into his neck, closing your eyes tight so you don’t cry.
“Sorry about the gate” he says as he closes it again behind you both “we’ve had some assassination threats” you say a soft oh and nod your head “no worries. I’m happy to be home I gotta tell you. I should find a place to stay” you scratch your neck and laugh softly “since all my things are in storage” you go to turn but he grabs your hand “can I find you later? To catch up?” You smile and nod “I’d love that”
After debriefing with the Hokage you found an inn to stay in not far from where your things were stored then you went to go buy some food and new clothes that weren’t from your mission.
You had a few bags in your hand as you walked the streets of the village, a small smile on your lips and a light heart as you familiarized yourself with your home town again.
“There you are” he says as he hops from the room of the buildings to standing next to you.
“Nice to see you again Genma” you said with a soft smile and a sparkle in your eye that make his heart race.
Even after all this time his feelings for you remain unchanged.
He takes the bags from your hands and offers you his elbow, which you take with a small laugh and a “thank you”
“Have you eaten yet?” You ask, looking up at him your chin brushing his shoulder. He smirks at the way his skin comes alive at your touch and the way his stomach fills with butterflies as you easy fall back into your old closer than just friends ways.
“No I haven’t. Where would you like to go?” You notice the way his eyes soften when he looks at you and the way his usual smirk seems more genuine. “Take me to your favorite place” you say and he laughs with a nod “you got it”
“I’m so glad this place is still here” you say as they place two bowls of pumpkin soup down on the table. “I’m pretty sure we’re still in business because of Genma here” the owner says from the back and you laugh “I bet. I’ve seen him put away a lot of pumpkin soup before” you wink at him as you blow softly across your soup to cool it down.
“Tell me about your mission” he asks as he takes another bite and you smirk “well. I guess it isn’t really classified anymore” you say and wipe your lips with a napkin
“I had to go undercover and infiltrate the growing army of rouge ninjas that were in the north” his eyes widen slightly, he’s heard stories about them and even tho they were a lesser version of the Akatsuki they were still a tough group.
“I went through the ranks until I was the right hand man of the head of the group who turned out to be a girl. She was an amazing person if she wasn’t so absolutely crazy.” You take another bite and he leans forward a little “that’s where you’ve been all these years? It makes sense as to why the missions involving them suddenly stopped” he says and scratches behind his neck
“After I made my way to the top, they were planning on wiping out the village hidden in the mist . I sent word back to the Hokage who told the Mizukage, I worked hand in hand with them to take down the entire army and now I’m here” you shrug and he’s looking at you with shocked eyes.
“What?” You ask with a laugh and he just chuckles “nothing I just.. I always just thought you’d be my cute little best friend from daycare” you laugh and run your hand through your hair
Before you can respond a member of the ANBU appears beside your table “the Hokage needs to see you both right away”
Your hands run down your face as you sigh deeply “so she survived and then escaped and is coming after me?” The Hokage nods “I’m placing Genma as your bodyguard and for now you’ll go into hiding, to one of the safe houses” you scowl, wanting to protest, to say how you can take care of yourself, but you honestly didn’t even know if it was the truth.
You nod once “yes, lord sixth”
Genma beside you tenses his jaw and nods once, he won’t lie, he’s excited to spend so much time with you, he just wishes it was with better circumstances.
“How long has it been? Since we were Chunin I think” he says as the gates close behind you
“Since we went on a mission together? Yeah since I was placed on your team because my team was all out of commission. You iced me out for the first day because you thought I was cute”
He gasps “I did not!”
You laugh and chase your head “yeah sure. So you ignored me but stared at me the entire time for the first day but then your excuse the second day was” you imitate his kid voice “I had something in my eye”
He can’t help but laugh with you, his cheeks dusting a little pink “it was true. I had something in my eye” he sticks with it and you just sigh and shake your head “yeah it was awkward 12 yr old feelings” you say back and he just scoffs, sticking to his original story.
You get to the safe house around nightfall, a small farm house on the outskirts of a smaller town that consisted of a small market and a couple shops, guessing that less than 200 people lived around here.
You flick the light switch and wait in the doorway as the lights flicker before staying on, a low light cast across a small living room with a hallway and an attached kitchen. Genma checks the house and secures it as you kick off your shoes and look through the kitchen.
“We will have to hit the market in the morning. Maybe we could go back to that ramen place we passed” you say as you meet him in the living room.
“There’s only one bedroom since were supposed to be acting as a couple, you can take the bed and I’ll take the couch” he says, twisting his senbon in his mouth and avoiding your eye as he tries to not imagine sharing a bed with you.
You laugh “that’s not fair though. How about we Rock Paper Scissors or thumb war or something else?” You can see the pink on his sheets and you’re pretty sure he’s thinking of the same thing you are, sleeping in the same bed.
“Yeah okay. Thumb war” he says with a nod, still not looking at you. He knows he could lose it easy and still give you to bed.
You cross the room to him and hold out your hand, he finally meets your eye as his finger slick with yours. His fingers were warm against your usual cold fingers and you could feel his calluses against your skin. “Ready?” You asks, eyes locked on his and a small smirk on your lips.
“Go!” You say and his longer thumb reaches for yours as you dodge it with a giggle, your left hand reaching out to hold his bicep as you dodge his thumb, he’s feigning trying to win until your thumb locks across his and for a second he forgets what he’s even doing, he’s too caught up in the way your eyes sparkle as you look at your thumb, your laughter that hasn’t changed since you were a kid. All those times you would joke together as kids and hanging out when you grew up. Meeting you again after your days in the ANBU, then seeing you again this morning, the way his heart has only beat for you his whole life.
He gasps softly when you squeal, looking up into his eyes with a grin “I win!” You say and his cheeks flush, your hand still on his arm and your fingers still locked with his, “congrats! You get the bed” he says, throat a little dry.
“Now let’s clean up and head to dinner” you say, dropping his hand. His hand feels empty without the feeling of your fingers against his but he swallows hard and shoves his hands in his pockets with a nod, pretending that your grin isn’t making his heart race.
There’s two bathrooms, one downstairs and one connected to the bedroom. You get ready in the bedroom bathroom and him in the other.
You know you’ll bathe later but for dinner you still want to look good. You’re supposed to sell that youre married to Genma so you dress like you would if you were going out with your husband.
You take off your headband and wash your face with cool water before putting on a little makeup and fixing up your hair. You change into a dark green dress that hits just above your knees. You spray a little perfume that you just bought before your mission, then head down the stairs.
You smile when you see him, sitting on the couch and twisting a kunai in his fingers as he waits.
“I have something for you” you say with a smirk as your reach the bottom of the steps.
“What is it?” He asks and stores his kunai before looking up at you and gasping softly, his eyes widening as he takes you in, his eyes slowly moving down your body before landing back on your face
He stands and walks to you “you look good” he says in a whisper and swallows hard, his cheeks blushing and warm.
“Thank you. So do you” you say and nod as you look him over, he’s changed out of anything that would give him away as a ninja. He’s wearing a dark shirt and dark pants that you realize are just a little bit fancier than you would have guessed he’d own. You look nice, like a couple that would blend in with the village.
You hold out your hand and open your palm, showing two matching rings “whataya say Genma? Will you fake marry me?” You smile softly and he takes the ring from your palm “I do” he says with a smirk and you chuckle as you slide the ring down your left hand finger.
“One more thing” you say and reach up, untying his headband and running your hand through his hair as you fix his headband hair. You hand it to him and he smiles softly “now we look like any young couple who moved to the country” he puts his headband in his bag and then held the door open to you “shall we?” He asks and you nod, taking his arm with a smile.
ꕥone month laterꕥ
You’re weeding your garden you have out front, the small sprouts bringing joy to your heart. So far they haven’t been able to find her so for now you’re still stuck here.
Genma is fixing a leak in the roof, the sound of his hammer reaching your ears as you wipe your dirty hands on your apron. You place the weeds in the compost pile at the back edge of the yard as Genma climbs down the ladder.
“All fixed?” You ask with a smile, your sundress flowing against your legs in the breeze and he feels his heart hammer against his ribs. You looked like the prettiest housewife he could almost picture this being his real life.
“All fixed” he says with a grin, a spare nail still in his teeth instead of his usual senbon. He had sweat lining his forehead and his hair tied back in a low bun, his face looks a little sun kissed and you couldn’t stop your mind from wandering to imagining him as your househusband.
Your cheeks feel warm and you wipe your hands on your apron again before taking it off and walking up to him, folding it and using a clean space to dab his forehead “let’s go inside, I’ll make something light for lunch” he clears his throat, grateful for the sunburn on his cheeks that he knows won’t show his blush. “Sounds good” he says with a semi strained voice, trying not to show how flustered you made him.
That evening, after dinner and bathing, you head downstairs to find Genma but pause when he’s nowhere to be found.
You find the door open but before heading out you grab his sweatshirt he had over the side of the couch and throw it over your head.
You take a few steps off the porch and hear a soft whistle, pulling your attention to the roof. You feel your heart skip when you turn and spot him laying against the roof, the moonlight glistening off his usual senbon he still used at the house.
You appear beside him and sit down, pulling your knees up to your chest and tucking them inside your sweatshirt.
“Isn’t it funny that we went from being apart for years to being thrown together for who knows how long?” His voice was a whisper but it felt loud because of how alone and quiet you where on this little farm.
“I’m sorry you got dragged into this. You probably have a girlfriend back at the village who’s gonna hate me when we get back” you say as you rest your forehead on your knees
Yes you’ve lived together for a month but you haven’t brought up relationships because then you’d have to admit the feelings you had for him.
He laughs and leans up, his elbows around his knees “no ones gonna hate you” he says and you meet his eye
“So then she’s really nice? That’s good. I always hoped you’d end up with someone nice” your voice was strained and he tilts his head, his tongue turning the senbon
“No” he says and you raise your eyebrows “so she’s mean? I didn’t expect you to be ..” he cuts you off with a laugh “no I mean.. no she”
Your eyes widen a little then you laugh “ohhh so you have a boyfriend. Well if you’re happy that’s..” he groans and falls back, his arms above his head exasperated.
He takes his senbon from his mouth and then lays his arm back down, looking up at the stars as he says in a monotone voice “I’m sorry I should have made it more clear. I’m not dating anyone”
You feel your cheeks heat up as your soul fills to the brim with embarrassment. “Oh”
You wait until your face cools off before you lean back and look up at the sky with him. You look up at the stars for just a moment before you decide to make a move and adjust your body, scooting up to lay your head against his arm.
“I’m glad” you whisper and pause for a moment “that no one is going to hate me when we get back”
You were glad he wasn’t dating anyone. Glad that he was single and that your feelings have an option to be reciprocated.
His heart was racing in his throat, his fingers holding his senbon in a vice grip as your hair tickles the skin on his arm.
Over this last month all of his feelings from childhood had returned with a vengeance. He thought that maybe they were the same feelings but as the days progressed he’s learned how much stronger they have become for you. How he’s been desperately yearning to kiss you every night here.
The way your hair is crazy in the mornings, the way you yawn and rub your eyes as you drink coffee, the way your eyes sparkle in the sun as you work in the yard, these little sides of you that he feels lucky to be witnessing.
He loves the way the house smells like your shampoo after you bathe, the way you laugh at his jokes even if they aren’t very funny but your laughs are always genuine.
The way you hold his hand and kiss his cheek when you go to town makes his heart race every time, he won’t ever get used to the feeling. He’s a ninja but how hard he’s tried to dig out all his feelings and do away with them, he can never seem to do it. You’ll give him one of those looks where he feels like he’d do anything for you, your smile and the way your eyes soften when they see him, and he can’t do it. He knows this is an act but he can’t help but wish it was real.
“Y/n I need to tell you something” he says and as you turn to look up at him, you sense chakra. He’s caught it just a moment before you and he’s pulling you to his chest, throwing his senbon. the sound of it hitting a kunai making your palms sweat as you quickly get your shit together.
“It’s her” you say and then she appears on the ground, looking up at you both with her hands out and a smile.
“I’m just here to talk” she says and you feel a chill down your spine “you don’t talk, Mina! We both know that” you shout back and she just laughs.
Genma goes to attack and you watch as it goes in slow motion, one moment he’s throwing a kunai and flying through the air, the next he’s pinned to the ground by another Ninja who was hidden in the ground, popping up from your garden and holding him fast. A little part of your heart twinges with sadness for your baby garden.
You move into the defensive, not knowing what to do next since you didn’t have any weapons with you expect for your jutsu. You didn’t what to do, Genma was trapped and you had to fight her with no weapons and who knows how many people she had in hiding.
“I’m seriously here to talk so you can come down now” she says with an excited lilt “don’t do it!” Genma shouts but it’s cut off by the sound of his agonized groaning “i think you should do it!” She sings and you don’t hesitate in jumping to the ground and walking through the dirt path towards her
“Take me and let him go” you say and she laughs hard, wiping away tears, “how about I kill you first and make him watch” she says and then immediately throws a handful of Kunai your way.
You gasp and dodge them easily, not seeing her move through the dark and and cutting your arm with the kunai in his hand.
“The ritual is compete” she says with an insane laugh and you feel your body become frozen, paralyzed.
Your eyes look to her and notice how her skin has changed to black, covered in white symbols where bones would be. “She’s like Hidan” Genma says in shock as you watch her cackle in front of you, her arms out wide with the kunai still in her hand.
“Do you know how much trouble I went through to find you?” She asks and then brings the Kunai down into her thigh making you gasp when your thigh starts to bleed from the deep slice.
“Don’t worry tho, I’ll make sure to miss all your vital spots until we’re done talking”
Your heart is pounding with fear. There isn’t much you can do right now, you know you can’t get out of this and Genma is detained. You’re going to die.
“I’m sorry Mina” you say between deep gasps of air through the pain “I was just following orders”
She cackles and you can feel her hatred coming form her in waves. The Kunai comes to her neck and you watch blood trickle down the side of her skin before you even felt it start to run down your own.
You gasp when she slowly pushes the knife deeper, the wound in your neck flowing more. “Maybe I’m done talking now” she whispers out and goes eerily quiet as she stares at the blood coming from your neck.
“No.. stop!” Genma is fighting against the other ninja, struggling but not getting anywhere.
“Genma” you whisper out but he stills when he hears your voice “it’ll be okay” you say, feeling your eyes sting but refusing to cry in front of her.
“Mina just go. Why are you doing this? You could run. You could go live the life you’ve always wanted and hoped for. The little farm you told me about. You can go do that you have been given this chance you don’t need to use it for revenge. You can be happy”
“Shut up!” She shouts at you, her eyes overflowing with tears
“I wanted that life with you!” she says through gritted teeth and you gasp softly, your heart racing. You never knew that’s how she felt for you.
“But if I can’t have you” she says, eyes wide and crazy, the tears suddenly stopping and turning to crazy chuckles “then no one can” she finishes her sentence in a quiet calm voice that’s even more eerily sounding than her laughter.
She raises her arm back and then screams as she brings it down to her throat with all the force she can muster! Your eyes widen in shock and you gasp, expecting to have it be your final moment but feeling relief flood your body when you hear the words from Shikamaru in the dark “shadow possession, complete”
Turns out Shikamaru and a few ANBU had been tracking her for a week. They would have caught her sooner but Kiba was on a different mission and couldn’t help.
The fight was quick after that, you don’t really remember most of it. Once Genma was free he was by your side and holding gauze to your leg while you held one to your neck.
“Thank you” you whisper to him as you sit in the dirt, watching as he dresses your wound.
“This is all my fault. I let my guard down. I was thrown off by seeing you in my sweatshirt. You look so good I got distracted. I’m sorry I let you get hurt” his eyes were on his hands and your leg as he finishes tying the bandages, you’re pretty sure he doesn’t even know what he just confessed to.
Your hands take his into your own, the wound on your neck stopped bleeding and isn’t more than a scratch.
“Genma” you say softly and wait until he meets your eye. His senbon was back in his teeth and you heard the gentle grinding sound as he bit down against it.
You reach up and cup his jaw “I worry about your teeth” you joke and he rolls his eyes, relaxing his jaw before looking back to your eye.
“We should get going. You should see a doctor about that wound” Shikamaru said, coming back from taking care of Mina and her accomplice and sending them off with a couple ANBU.
Your eyes don’t leave Genma’s but you drop your hands “okay. My leg isn’t too bad so I can pack up my things real quick. Could you help me?” Genma nods immediately and picks you up into his arms bridal style, carrying you back towards the house.
As you stand on your good leg at the bathroom sink, Genma goes to clean up his things. A quick sweep of the home since you kept it spotless normally in preparation.
You look at yourself in the mirror and sigh, brushing your hair behind your shoulder as you look at the cuts on your neck.
“Do you think they’ll scar?” You ask when he appears in the doorway, his pack over a shoulder.
“I doubt it. They aren’t very deep. If they do scar it will be gone in a year” you scowl and look away, going to grab your small bag if things to add to your pack on the bed.
You go to hop your way out but he drops his bag and puts his arm around your waist, easily taking your weight as he helps you back to the bed.
“Shikamaru will take my bag, I’ll carry you back” he says and doesn’t wait for you to say anything, just turns and crouches, waiting for you to climb up.
You chuckle “I’ll be fine” you say and he clicks his senbon before leaning back and grabbing your calves, gently pulling you so you lose balance with a gasp and fall into him.
“We’re ready” Genma says, not even ten minutes after Shikamaru said it was time to leave. You’re scowling but holding on to his shoulders tight.
Genma throws his pack to him and he catches it in silence, putting over his shoulder. “Let’s go”
His hands are firm against your thighs as he carries you and you notice how he never forgets about your wound, is always gentle with you whenever he has to adjust or move you.
“It’s gonna be weird not living with you” you admit with a small chuckle and his hands squeeze your legs gently “oh yeah. I bet you’ll miss having fresh coffee made for you in the morning and never having to wash a dish” you laugh and playfully slap his shoulder “and you’ll miss my cooking every meal!” He chuckles and nods “you know it. You’re a queen of the kitchen” you feel your cheeks warm and are grateful that he can’t see.
“We’re here” Shikamaru says and you feel your stomach fill with relief until it gets taken over by worry when you realize you still don’t have anywhere to stay. Shikamaru heads off to talk to the Hokage as Genma brings you to the hospital to get looked at.
“I’ll be here when you’re done” he says as he sets you on the exam table and your eyes widen “you will be?” He raises his eyebrows with a smirk “of course I will be” you feel your cheeks warm, the mission was over so you just expected him to go his way as you go yours. You nod, feeling your eyes sting again with your feelings as you smile shyly “thank you Genma”
A few medical ninjas heal your leg up and disinfect and bandage up your neck when you exit the room, true to his word, Genma is sitting on the chair across the hall with his head relaxed against the wall behind him. His eyes are closed and you can tell he’s sleeping, his senbon hanging in the edge of his lips.
You crouch in front of him and smile softly as you look him over. His messy hair and his recreational clothes, he was missing his headband still and has dirt on his cheeks.
You reach up and softly run your fingers through his hair, smiling when his eyes flutter open. “Good morning sleepy head” you say softly and he takes a deep inhale, a soft smile on his lips as he meets your eye. “Good morning beautiful” he says and rubs his eyes.
“Wanna get some breakfast?” You ask, fingers still moving slowly through his soft hair. “God yes” he says and you laugh, standing with a groan before offering him your left hand, which he takes without hesitation and stands.
“How’s your leg?” He asks, lacing his fingers together with yours and making your heart flutter. “It’s fine. Nothing major was hit, should just be a bruise now.” You want to ask why he’s holding your hand. Want to point out how he doesn’t have to do that anymore since this is your village and you’re not pretending anymore, but you don’t. You don’t ask. You just savor the feeling knowing it’s probably the last time.
You yawn hard as you sit across from him at the table, waiting for your food to be delivered as you sit quietly with him. You both looked exhausted, exactly like you’ve been traveling all night. You look up from the picture on the wall you were zoned out staring at and feel your cheeks warm when you catch him looking at you.
“What?” You ask with a small chuckle and he just smiles “nothing. Just looking” he says and it makes your heart flutter. “Would have thought you looked enough over the last month” he chuckles “not nearly enough if I’m being honest” he admits quietly and you chuckle at the softness.
“Stay with me” he says as he takes a bit of his pumpkin soup. “What?” You ask, choking on your own spit.
“Stay with me while you find your own place. Your stuff is still in storage right?” You feel your cheeks warm as you wipe off your mouth “yeah that’s true but I don’t want to impose I can just stay at the inn” he shakes his head “no. Stay with me. I have more than enough room” you laugh “I’m not gonna be able to change your mind Huh?” He shakes his head with a small smile “I insist”
He takes another bite of his soup and sighs “it’s not as good as yours” he says a little sadly and for some reason it fills your heart full of pride. “I’m sorry I ruined your favorite meal” you say and he laughs, running his hands through his hair and sticks his senbon back in his teeth. “It just means I’ll need you to make it for me now” he says and you laugh “anytime. But just for you” you say back and you feel as if your heart could burst.
After your meal he takes your hand again in his, lifting it and using his thumb to twist the fake wedding band “I guess we should take these off Huh?”
You nod “yeah probably. Since the mission is over” he sighs and slips yours off before he takes his off and puts them both in his pocket before he takes your hand again, your pack over his shoulder.
“We don’t have to hold hands anymore either. And I could take my pack..” your voice sounds as sad as you feel but you doubt you’d even be able to hide it.
“Oh” he says softly “yeah. You’re right” he hesitates for just a moment before dropping your hand and shoving his roughly into his pocket. He doesn’t give your bag to you though, which makes you smirk, your hand moving behind your back to hold your elbow.
The first night at his place was nice, you insisted on taking his couch and he couldn’t find a good enough excuse to change your mind. You helped clean off the dust and air out the apartment before he went out to stock up on fresh groceries as you shower.
When you get out the shower you wander around his bedroom, more or less snooping. You open his closet and hum in approval at the collection of comfortable clothing he has as well as his nice fancier clothing. You take one of the comfy jackets off a hanger and throw it on before you continue your trek through his apartment.
His apartment was spacious even though it was one bedroom. His room was large and open, a bed in the middle with amazing light when the sunrises. It has a couch at the end of the bed, a large bathroom, and decent closet. It had a sliding glass door and a small balcony that had a chair and table.
You sat on the side of the bed and opened the top drawer of the bedside table.
Exactly what you expected from him, a kunai and a box of condoms that were a particularly larger size than you would have assumed he would have.
“You big snoop” he says with evident laugh in his voice as he catches you with condoms in your hand.
You gasp and flail, the box hitting the headboard of his bed and falling behind you on the bed as you just sigh and hide your face in your hands.
“That was funny. You shoulda seen your face” he says with a laugh and you just keep your face hidden, your cheeks hot under your palms.
“God Genma you scared me” you say and he just laughs and sits beside you on the bed.
With a low groan, he leans slowly behind you and grabs the box of condoms. “If you wanted to know what size condoms I use, you could have just asked” he said with a twirl of his senbon and you let out a squeak that makes his skin tingle.
You decide to try and tip the scale of his cockiness so you quickly move, throwing your leg across him and pushing him down to the bed with your hands.
You lean in close to his ear and his hands move to grip your thighs “would you have told me... or shown me?” You ask, teeth connecting to his ear as you bite him gently, smirking when his breath hitches.
You lean up, sliding your hands down his chest and looking down at him with a smile for a moment before you take his senbon from his mouth and stick it between your teeth before you wink and slide from his lap to your feet. Walking out of the door with a satisfied hum and a swing of your hips.
You walk down the hallway into his spacious and homey living room, your toes appreciating the soft rug as you cross the living room to the dining room and kitchen, towards the brown paper sacks he must have left on the table.
“Oooh you got melon. I love melon.” You say with a smirk, twisting the senbon around with your tongue as you make eye contact with him as he comes across the room.
“I know you love it” he says and stands beside you, placing his hand on your low back as he leans down and takes the end of his senbon into his teeth and you smile, letting him take it from your mouth.
You know the condom moment made the air more tense between you, but you really liked it. It felt real, like the mission was just a show but now this, this!, is real flirting! Real feelings!
“That wasn’t very nice what you did in there” he says and you laugh “I’m sorry Genma. Did I get you worked up just to leave? How rude of me.” You say as you cut the melon.
“Maybe don’t dish out the teasing if you can’t handle it back” you say and offer him a small bite of melon. He rolls his eyes and leans down but instead of popping it into his mouth you quickly put it in your own with a grin
“Hey!” He says and you chuckle “what are ya going to do about it? Huh?” You tease and he places a hand on your hip and pulls you to his chest, a little squeak leaving your lips making him smirk.
“I wanted a taste” he says his voice low and his eyes playful. you smile, your hand on his chest can feel his racing heart and you reach up, taking his senbon as you say “then take one” his lips hitting yours less than a second later.

You remembered your mother’s fingers tap against her arm as she leaned upon the ivory door frame of your best friends’ bedroom. “can I please stay a little longer, Kihyun and I haven’t even finished building the house yet,” you pleaded to your mother who had a smile painted across her face despite being tired from her job and taking care of you. “We have to go now, who will feed Kiwi?” She pretends to be concerned knowing it’ll lure you back home. “no, no I will feed Kiwi,” you immediately stand up and leave the little lego pieces on the floor. “I have to go and feed my cat now,” you from at a tiny Kihyun who sat distraught at the fact you were leaving him. The sky darkened and the nocturnal animals were ought to come out around now. “wave goodbye,” your mother nudges you gently and so you do, with a wide smile and your eyes full of hope.
You and Kihyun met in daycare and ever since you became best friends. You did everything together and it went on into your senior years of school.
Moving on to further education, you and Kihyun attended the same schools including high school. High school was full of surprises and also many arguments too; friendships aren’t all as smooth as it seems. Kihyun waited at your locker after every lesson you had so you could both sit together with your other friends. Kihyun’s  5’7 slender physique leaned against the cool steel of the locker, his phone sitting in the curve of his hand, scrolling through what seems to be his text messages. He texted you around 3 minutes ago and huffed impatiently – he wasn’t the most patient person in the world - wondering where you were since your class finished exactly 3 minutes ago. The hallways were congested to the point where pushing pass was necessary. The scattered ‘excuse me’s and ‘sorry can I get past please’ were ever so repetitive but it got you through your high school experience up until now. You see Kihyun at your locker, his head resting against the steel.
“what took you so long?” his voice was fruity and oddly comforting to listen to. “my teacher wouldn’t shut up about our late assignments and was setting us more, I had no control over that,” you respond instantaneously as his arm draped around your shoulders. “right, I’ll give that to you,” he tuts and rolls his eyes playfully.
The pair of you ambled through the hallways towards the cafeteria and set your belongings down onto the round table and onto the chairs beside you to reserve them for your other friends since they were coming from the other side of the school. “Jooheon and Changkyun take so long to get here, I’m going to get food, do you want anything?” he asks you waiting to respond. “oh umm- yeah maybe like a sandwich or something?” you suggest. “That’s not enough, I’m buying you a meal,” he informed politely. – of course he’ll buy you a meal –
Jooheon and Changkyun finally make their way to the table where you sat, keeping it occupied so no one else sat there. “Yo where did Kihyun go?” Jooheon asks as he gets out a Kimbap roll from his bag and rips open the packet. You point at the queue where Kihyun was and notice a girl being pushed closer to him by her friends. “There they go again,” Changkyun sighs, “Let me go and help him.” Changkyun always knew these girls will throw themselves at whatever guy they would want to get their attention from and Kihyun hated it.
“o-oh sorry, I’ll keep moving forward,” He apologises to the girls knowing what they were doing. “It’s okay Kihyunnie,” the girl purred; Kihyun could swear he just threw up in his mouth. He ignored her until Changkyun came to save the day. “Kihyun how you doing?” his American accent ringing through the cafeteria. “Ah yes, the English card,” Jooheon nods whilst munching his roll. “Oh is this for me? Thanks, I’ll pay,” Changkyun says as he swipes his card and takes both trays with him and places it on the table. The girls look shaken behind them but in return Changkyun flashes a smug smile before seating himself next to you. “I hate them, they think they can do anything to get what they want,” Changkyun sighs, “you bought bought her lunch again but not for me, how sad,” He tuts, “ you need to pay me back since I paid for it actually so next ones on you alright?” he jokes with Kihyun before sliding the tray in front of you. “Thank you but you didn’t have to,” you pick up the cutlery that was on the tray. The girls walk past, their face painted with disgust whispering something to one another. Was it about you? The 4 of you sat together and talked about your lessons and gossiped about your teachers and also talked about that group of girls who have become an infection to your school. Luckily it was very soon until the end of the entire high school experience since prom was in a few months.
After you lunch break you didn’t have any classes left so you were contemplating whether to go home or stay to study. “Hey Kihyun, are you going to go home or stay to study?” you ask him, your honeyed tone captivating his attention. “Probably, I have a test to study for, do you want to go to the library or to some café?” he asks you. You think for a moment. It’d be more logical to stay at school and study in the library; “the library, I don’t think I can focus at a café,” You grab your books and notes from you locker and make your way to the library and find a table to sit at with Kihyun. The library was slightly fuller than usual, the tables had spaces for 4-6 people but it was only you and Kihyun sitting behind a shelf of books. You set your books and notebooks out for your Business class and open your text book which has an assortment of coloured sticky notes which were highlighted and extremely condensed down. “how?” Kihyun stares in awe at your study notes. “what? My notes?” you point at them “they’re really helpful, that extra effort its worth it” you smile softly at him. “yeah I know but how do you do it, I don’t even know where to start from.” Kihyun sighs. You delve into your bag again and grasp a hold of your transparent stationary holder which was filled with sticky notes, pens and bookmark sticky tabs. You pull your seat closer to Kihyun’s and move your hair behind your ear to help him and teach him how to take notes. You open his law textbook  and ask him what he needs to learn or understand so you knew where to start. “easy right?” you smile as you pass him some notes and memo sheets and he nodded his head, making himself believe that he new what he was doing. You turned back around to look at you textbooks, your eyes scanning the text book although Kihyun’s eyes often glanced away from the paper and pen and was captured by how focused you were, how you would unconsciously tuck your hair behind your ear, how your eyes scan the text you were reading and then articulate it into something concise yet informative. He needed a quick break to grab some water but you didn’t notice that he left since you were focused on studying. He placed a plastic cup on your desk and tapped your shoulder. “make sure you drink? Water is good for your brain” Kihyun smiles at you before sitting back down. “o-oh thank you!” you take the cup and drink the water, “I was going to have a short break anyway to get some water, how’s your notes going?” you ask him looking over to see a few notes here and there but he tried to cover it. “u-uh it’s, going okay.” You stand up to see the other side of him, he was doing quite well and learning how to take notes like you. “see you are doing good, isn’t it so much easier?” you ask him. He nods and hums his response. “don’t worry you’ll get the hang of it,” you nudge him softly.
An hour and a half passes and it was time to go home. You gather all your belongings organising them and putting them back into your bag, reaching for your jacket to which you find isn’t there to your surprise. “o-oh,” you sounded confused “ did I bring my jacket with me?” you ask Kihyun who had already shoved his textbook into his bag. “Oh um, You didn’t bring it with you from the cafeteria you might’ve left it there,” he shrugs “ we can go and look for it now?” He suggests and you agree with him, opening the doors to the library to leave. The school was oddly quiet. Probably because everyone leaves incredibly quickly but you and Kihyun make your way to the cafeteria and nothing was there. “ugh,” you grunt sounding annoyed “ whatever, I’ll look tomorrow and lost and found,” you drag yourself out of the cafeteria and head towards the exit.
“hey dumpling,” Changkyun calls out to get your attention. “stop calling me dumpling, It’s not cute or endearing,” you sigh “why are you still here?” you ask. “seems like someone lost their jacket,” he holds it in his hand, “ you have to get it though,” his smug smile appears gradually. You sigh and try to grab however he pulls It away from you and decides to mess with you and hold It above his head. “awh look at you, you can’t even reach it, that’s so cute” he chuckles. “just give it back, I want to go home” you whine before giving up, “I’ll walk home COLD then.” You turn around and walk knowing he’ll give it back; “okay okay hey, HEY, take it,” he says as he drapes it over your shoulder and Kihyun follows hands in his pockets. Walks home with Kihyun and Changkyun started to become the norm since the start of high school until now. You knew that once you move, everything will change and it haunted you so you enjoyed the moment whilst it lasted.
You arrived at your house and you wave your friends goodbye. “when will your mum make that soup again?” Changkyun asks. “I’m not too sure, I can ask her to make it on Friday?” You suggest. They both look at each other and nod their heads in unison.
It was late in the evening and you open your laptop; 9:45pm. You sigh. It’s been exhausting but you spent all evening tidying, cleaning and also resting after your meal. You lean back into your desk chair, the squeak startling your puppy Lucas. He hid under your bed from the sound then soon after leaving the dark abyss under your bed with a squeaky red ball. You open a word document that had over 9 thousand words for a project that you were doing for your business class. You’d study all night for your classes, some nights on call to Kihyun or another one of your friends, Irene. Tonight, you felt like being alone for some reason, perhaps because your best friend was a distraction?  - I’m probably a distraction too – you think to yourself. You look at your computer and think to play something just to get your mind off school for once. You had a selection of things to do for your classes but a slight break from school wouldn’t hurt. The bright screen of your PC lit up your dimly lit room, your window open to let in the winters breeze as well as the moon beaning outside of your window tonight. You grab your headphones and plug them into the headphone jack and you see Changkyun playing the game you wanted to play.
“Yo look at who’s on,” he says in his annoying mocking tone. “you’ve seen me play before, don’t act so surprised,” you scoff, “is Kihyun playing today?” you ask Changkyun. “I don’t think so, he said he had some notes to finish and study, what a loser,” Changkyun laughs “ I mean, he lives up to that name doesn’t he,” making you laugh a little. Changkyun had always been there for you and for Kihyun, making you and Kihyun always make up by doing the most absurd things he could think of. He comforted you as well as Kihyun.
Whilst you wait in the lobby, your phone screen lights up blue with a notification from Kihyun. It was a text message.
“hey my wifi died but I was going to message you to ask what you are doing?” Kihyun texted you. You responded back almost immediately; “ I’m online playing with Changkyun hbu?” you ask. The response was delayed by a couple minutes. “I’m studying atm, if only if could go online I’d play with you” he responds with a sad faced emoticon. “I wish you could too, maybe have an early night and rest, I’ll go in a bit too,” You message him. “I’ll go whenever you do,” – that’s new, he never used to wait for you– “I mean the rounds are really long but we can call if you want,” you tap at your screen. “ it’s okay, just message me okay,”
You start a round with Changkyun, immersing yourself into the game and occasionally yelling when he’d kill you or when he’d win. “hey! That’s not fair I was drinking!” you squeal when he sneaks around the corner and gets his final kill. “no! how?” you growl. “I have never heard you grown on voice chat,” Chankgyun burts into laughter “it’s cute don’t worry, it’s like a little tiger cub.” You hand reaches for your phone to text Kihyun; it had been at least 30 minutes since you last messaged him. “hey Yoo, you still awake?” you press the blue send button and wait for the response. You kept your phone unlocked and settled it onto your desk beside your pink bunny plushie Kihyun got for your birthday which was placed next to a framed photo of you both. You glanced at your phone every second but he hadn’t opened it or read the message, perhaps he fell asleep waiting for you? “Oi why are you so quiet? Did anything happen?” Changkyun noticed the drastic change in your behaviour. “oh it’s nothing I was just waiting for Kihyun to reply but I think he fell asleep.” You lock your phone after sending him a goodnight. “yeah probably, he doesn’t study for this long so many he just fell asleep and it is 1am-” he reminds you. “1am! Shit I need to go to bed,” you scurry around and put your things away, “I’ll play with you tomorrow or something whenever Kihyun is free, I’ll be going to bed now Goodnight!” you frantically leave the game and wash up and get ready for bed. You lean against your oak headboard, your phone between your hands and scroll through your Instagram. The girls who tried to shoot their shot posted and you felt a pit fall in your stomach making your mouth go bitter.– Why do they think they’re so entitled?– you scoff before locking your phone and setting it onto the wireless charging pad you got from Irene. You lay in your bed letting the cool air in your room circulating settle onto your skin making the little hairs on your arms raise. You close your eyes, your eyelids were heavy, and sunk into your mattress letting the cotton sheets intertwine with your body the warmth sheathing your body. You let out one last sigh before drifting off into a sound slumber.
6:30 am. You twist and turn until you turn your alarm off dragging yourself to your bathroom from your bedroom and push the tap up letting the water run until it went warm. You tiredly reached out for your toothbrush and toothpaste, squeezing the white paste from the tube then setting it down on the sink. Lucas whimpers at your feet wanting you to open the garden door for him so whilst you brushed your teeth you opened the garden door for him and continued your morning. You got dressed as usual and went to the kitchen to see what was for breakfast. It was an omelette roll and some sautéed vegetables. You quickly ate your breakfast with a cup of coffee and looked at your phone. “Good morning, sorry for not replying last night but studying is so exhausting! Are you taking the bus today?” Kihyun messages you. “yeah I am,” you reply sipping the bitter, lukewarm liquid from your cup before pouring it down the sink, “is it near my house?” you furiously type before bolting to your room to grab your bag, Airpods and your jacket. Before you were about to dash through the door, you remembered your lunch. “ugh whatever, I’ll just buy lunch,” you say to yourself before running to the bus stop.  You got there on time and go onto the bus; you search for Kihyun and there he was at the back, his bag reserving a seat for you before the girl from the day before spotted it thinking it was for her. – How humiliating– you slowly walk towards him.
“hey,” she flutters her lashes forcing her cutesy tone, “can I sit here?” she asks. Kihyun locks eyes with you and gulps, “oh um well- AH you are here!” he looks at you as you walk towards the two. You could see her eyes fill with fury and her blood could be heard boiling within her. “hey, did you save the seat for me?” you decided to pull her leg a little. She scoffs and turns around to realise that there are no seats, and she has to stand so she walked away and held onto the rings to keep her stable. “She won’t leave me alone,” Kihyun whispers to you, “what do I do?” you let out a soft laugh. “Don’t you know you get encounters like this because you’re single and prom is soon?” you shake your head “how naïve” you nudge him. “oh yeah true, you have a point.” He looks down at his phone scrolling through his feed and you glance over at him. “so, Kihyun, do you like anyone?” you hum leaning into him, trying to see his face, being playful like you usually are. “I-I don’t think I do,” he nods, “why are you asking?” his voice sounded apathetic when he replied. “did I say anything wrong? You sound really… off?” your playfulness disintegrated, and you were confused at his rapid change in emotion. “no you didn’t, I-I just didn’t have coffee this morning, I’m still a bit tired,” he clears his throat and looks outside, “Don’t worry about it, I didn’t mean to upset you.” He hands you a little chocolate truffle wrapped in gold.
The bus stopped at your school and you both got off however the girl shoved past you causing you to drop the wrapped chocolate on the floor which she then stepped on looking back to make sure you were looking. The evil in her eyes burned bright. Kihyun didn’t see what just happened since Changkyun ran up to him and began talking. You stand still for a second as people push past you, why was she so against you? –what did I do?– “Hey sleep well last night?” Changkyun asks you, his joyful voice added to his charismatic personality. “it was great, I had a nightmare that you broke into my house to get your final kill,” you laugh softly, “that wasn’t a good dream…” you roll your eyes. “wow, Kihyun do you hear this? She dreams of me,” Changkyun provokes you to react defensively, joking around with you. “You’re making it sound so wrong,” you yell. “you finish early right? Do you want to go for lunch together?” Kihyun’s honeyed voice asks you. “Of course, if you’re paying,” you smile endearingly. “Okay, I’ll pay” his arm wraps around your  shoulder before Changkyun decides to open his mouth again. “why don’t you just hold hands?” he jokes again “ you both look like a couple anyway,” He bites at his coffee straw. “No we don’t!” You laugh but only 2 of the three of you laughed at the harmless joke. “awh no, I have class,” Changkyun, “it’s fine you both can go we can hang out another day.”
Time was inching closer to your lunch break. It was nearly time to leave, just a couple more minutes. You eyed the time like you life depended on it, you were itching to leave the dingy classroom – I can’t wait to go to university– the ringing of the bell saves you from you thoughts eating you from inside. You dash out the door, or so you thought you would however Kihyun stood there waiting for you with your jacket he got from your locker. “Let’s go,” he smiles before putting his hand on your back and guiding you towards the exit. “damn you were quick,” you prodded his arm. “ well, you can always count on me, we’re like each others-“ he thinks for a moment, “we’re like each others Compass.” Kihyun’s words always sounded poetic one way or the other. He really knew how to sway you with his words, probably from all those years he made you feel comfortable and content whenever you had a hard time. “There’s this restaurant place down the road if you wanna go?” he points down the road. “oooh yeah sure, let’s go!” your ecstatic energy surprising Kihyun as you cling to his arm. He hesitated but the corner of his mouth curled into a smile and his hands rested in his pockets to seem as if he were chilled out in this situation when in fact he was yelling inside, at the top of his lungs.
The interior of the restaurant was simple yet pretty to look at. It was Bohemian inspired; the stained wooden chairs and tables and the white curtain like bunting on the plants above the ceiling. It also has an element of a rustic style too. You and Kihyun walked in and were seated; you look at the menu and your eyes scan down the laminated card. You point out a soup that you want and a drink too, “ these look really good!” you smile at him as he tries to keep himself at bay. “mmh yeah it does, I’ll get the same as you then!” He calls the waitress and orders what you wanted.  Lunched passed my sooner than you’d expected but you both get out your cards to pay.
“what are you doing?” Kihyun sounded perplexed to say the least. “paying for my lunch, what else Kihyun?” He pauses at you, eyeing you up and down then whisking the card away from you. “Not today, my treat okay?” he goes to a waitress as you wait at the table. He left his bracelet on the table so you swiped it into your bag to give to him later. When Kihyun turns around, it was like the gates of Heaven opened up; there was a luminescent glow outlining his angelic features, features that were carefully sculpted by groups of angels. He was just perfect. Whilst he leads you out, you both walk to the bus stop before he pauses and begins to speak. “you know you asked me if I like anyone,” he starts off getting your hopes up thinking he’ll tell you something that’d make your heart happy, “well, do you like anyone?” his head tilts like a little puppy would when they’re confused. “hmm..” you think, unconsciously smiling to yourself, “maybe maybe not Kihyun,” you shrug giggling at his ‘O’ shaped mouth. “You are unbelievable, did you know that,” he tuts, “whatever don’t tell me, the bus is here anyway.” The bus stops and he gets on scanning his pass and you follow and do the same. There were no seats so you both had to stand; he stood behind you and held the rings above and you held onto the railings. The bus jolted and you lost your balance slightly although managing to get a hold of yourself but at the next stop, a group entered the  vehicle and it was cramped. There was a middle aged man toppling onto you and as the bus jolted again he nearly crushed your petite frame until Kihyun shielded you. You looked at him. What an angel.
“Hey, Kihyun…” you whisper and he lowers down slightly to hear what you have to say with a cheerful bright smile on his face that beamed like a sun on a summers day, “you wanna know who I like right?” you giggle into his ears. His ears burned a pinkish-red; “I really really like Changkyun.”

Love Is Blind: Chapter Ten
“Ms. Robyn, would you do my hair for me?”
Robyn turned at the sound of the soft voice behind her, from her seat on the couch. Anesa was standing there clutching a Winnie the Pooh stuffed bear in her arms. Robyn smiled, “sure I can. When’s the last time you washed your hair?”
“The last time I was with my auntie so a long time ago.”
Robyn chuckled, “I guess we’ll need to start there then. How about you get two towels and meet me in the kitchen? I’ll grab all your hair stuff.”
“Ok. Thank you.”
“No problem, Love.”
Chris stepped out of his bedroom when he heard music and a soft voice singing along with it. He walked slowly towards the living room then frowned when he noticed it was empty. Taking a second to think, he headed in the direction of the kitchen and stopped at the doorway to lean against the wall. He smiled as he watched Robyn carefully wash Anesa’s hair and sing along to the music coming from the speakers on the table. He tried to quietly enter the room but knew he had made noise when Robyn paused in her singing and turned to face him, ”Hey you.”
“Hey Beautiful. What you up to?” Chris replied as he walked over to the sink. Anesa was stretched out on her back on top of a blanket with a towel supporting her neck and her hair hanging over into the sink
“Just helping out. Anesa wanted her hair done.”
“Oh Nesa, you didn’t ask your Auntie when she picked you up?”
“She didn’t get around to doing it before she dropped me back off.”
“Oh ok. So what are you gonna do, Robyn?”
“It depends on what the Princess wants.”
“So Anesa?”
“I don’t know Daddy. Can you do braids?”
“I can do braids. We’ll see what we can come up with once I get your hair dried, ok?”
“Ok Ms. Robyn.”
Robyn finished washing her hair, wrapped it into a towel then set Anesa on her feet.
Chris sat on the couch opposite of Robyn, who settled Anesa on top of some pillows that were situated between her legs.
“You comfortable, Sweetie?” Robyn asked softly.
Anesa nodded as she pulled a blanket over her legs and held her teddy bear in her arms, “Ms. Robyn?”
“Yes?”
“Do you have children?”
“No, I don’t.”
“Why not? Do you not like children?”
“I love children, I just never got around to having any.”
“Do you want any?”
“I do but I am getting older so it might not be as easy as before.”
“Oh but you could still try.”
“That’s true. Why do you want to know this?”
“Well since you and my daddy are friends, if you have children then I can play with them and they can become my friends too.”
Robyn chuckled and gently rubbed Anesa’s head, “you’re a smart kid, Anesa.”
“Thank you. So what do you think?”
“I think that I will never say never but we’ll see what the future holds.”
“Ok. Daddy? Are you gonna have more kids?”
“Well Anesa, that would require having a woman in my life unless I adopt again.”
“Why don’t you and Ms. Robyn both adopt, then? Problem solved.”
Chris chuckled, “Anesa, it’s not always that simple. People have to be ready to adopt, it’s not always a simple process.”
“It’s not?”
“No, remember it took two years before I got the greenlight to adopt you.”
“Oh yea, that’s true.”
“Adoption takes time and it’s not the easiest in terms of paperwork and stuff. And not everyone is a baby when they’re adopted either.”
“Yea, there were a lot of big kids at the group home. They were there for a long time.”
“Do you remember much?”
“No, I just remember seeing a lot of kids bigger than me. The daycare lady sometimes had them help out with me.”
“Raising children in general isn’t simple because you’re dealing with human beings who don’t always need the same things.”
“Oh. Would you adopt again, Daddy?”
“Maybe in a few years.”
“Cool.”
Robyn smiled over at Chris as she started to part Anesa’s hair to start her style.
It ended up taking about two hours to braid her hair and Anesa was fast asleep in Robyn’s lap.
“You want me to take her?” Chris asked softly.
“Nah, let her sleep.”
“You know Anesa had a point?”
“What?”
“You definitely could adopt.”
“And you had a point, people have to be ready to adopt.”
“What makes you not ready?”
“I haven’t completely given up on the idea of having children of my own.”
“Adoption doesn’t require doing that anyway. What’s the fear?”
“I adopt then get pregnant at the same time. One baby is one thing, more than one at once? That’s like jumping in the deep end of the pool knowing I can’t swim.”
Chris chuckled, “that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.”
“Chris, I am a single woman meaning I’d be a single mother. I’m not quite prepared for that journey.”
“Single parenthood isn’t as scary as people make it.”
“I’m not scared of it, it’s just not what I had planned for my life and I’m not in a position to want to change paths at this point, that’s all.”
“Understandable.”
“How do you do it?”
“What? Be a single father?”
“Yea.”
“The same way you do anything else, you just do it. Parenting is trial and error, you don’t and can’t know everything no matter what anyone tells you besides I do have some help so it’s not just me doing it all alone.”
“Is that what convinced the adoption agency?”
“My qualifications, my history and my income helped and the fact Anesa had immediately taken to me didn’t hurt too bad either.”
“Things have really changed then.”
“You can say that. It’s becoming less uncommon for single people to adopt which really does help children.”
“I can agree with that.”
“You’d be a great mommy, Robyn.”
Robyn smiled, “Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that. You’re doing a beautiful job with her.”
“I’m trying. Thank you for helping.”
“It’s just braids. Not a big deal.”
“It is a big deal. You really didn’t have to”
“Well she asked.”
“You didn’t have to say yes.”
“I guess but she’s cute so it’s ok.”
“So what if I had asked?”
“Well you’re cute too so I guess.”
Chris chuckled, “so I’m just cute.”
“For now, yes.”
“And how do I move beyond cute?”
“Coming closer would be a good start.”
Chris smirked as he moved to sit next to her, careful not to disturb Anesa, “is this good?”
“Perfect.”
Robyn leaned her head on his shoulder and Chris kissed her temple, “I don't want to assume but are you staying the night?”
She glanced down at Anesa, “not sure I have much of a choice.”
“You always have a choice. It’s been long enough, once she gets this deep into sleep, not even an earthquake can wake her.”
“No, it’s ok.”
“I think she really likes you, if you haven’t noticed.”
“I’ve noticed. I appreciate it.”
“Appreciate it? You sound very out of it. Are you tired? I can move her to her bed.”
“No, I kinda like having her here, it’s comforting.”
Chris’s brow furrowed for a moment before he got up and left the room. Robyn absentmindedly brushed her hand over Anesa’s back as she waited for him to come back. Chris came back carrying two blankets. He sat them down then carefully moved the coffee table from in front of the couch. Shifting the pillows off the shorter end of the L shaped furniture, he pulled out the pull-out bed and prepared it for Robyn to sleep in it, “this should be a little more comfortable. Come on, I’ll put Anesa right next to you.”
“Chris, you don’t-” Chris gave her a look as he picked up Anesa and placed on top of the bed. He gingerly pulled her cover up to her neck then turned to Robyn, “would you like me to pick you up too?”
Robyn rolled her eyes, “No thank you. I can manage.”
Chris chuckled, “at least let me tuck you in.”
“Christopher.”
“What?”
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do with you.”
Robyn walked around to climb into the bed on the opposite side of Anesa, leaving some place for the young child to be able to move around. She reached for a blanket but Chris stopped her hand and spread it over her, himself. He sat down on the edge, “you comfortable?”
“I’m not a child, you know.”
“I know, doesn’t negate the fact I want you to be comfortable.”
“Yes Christopher, I’m comfortable.”
“Good. See you in the morning?”
“You’re not staying out here?”
“I’ll be on the other end of the couch.”
“You know there’s enough room.”
“I know but I don’t think it's a good idea for us to be that close with Anesa in the bed with us. No worries though, I’ll be right over there.”
“Chris, at least sleep in your bed. It’ll be more comfortable.”
“I’m comfortable being able to wake up to you in some form. Don’t worry about me, I’m good.”
Robyn went to speak but yawned instead, “I guess I am tired.”
Chris brushed his hand along her cheek before leaning to kiss her cheekbone, the corner of her eye and her temple.
“Can never give me just one.”
“Even three isn’t enough but it gets the point across. Goodnight Robyn.”
“Goodnight Chris.”
                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oooh Chris, you’ve filled out nice.”
Chris jumped at the sound of the voice and turned to see Robyn holding up her phone and Leandra’s face was on the screen, “you scared the shit out of me.”
Robyn and Leandra laughed, “I’m sorry. I didn’t expect you to be up. I thought you went into your room when I saw you weren’t on the couch.”
“It’s fine. I normally make breakfast on the weekends. Hi Leandra.”
“Hi Christopher,“ Leandra replied, “what you making for breakfast?”
“Eggs, toast and grits. How about you?”
“I’m going to brunch with Maxwell.”
“For all the dates y’all go on, you might as well get back together,” Robyn interjected.
“We’re talking about it but I don’t know yet.”
“Stop stringing that man along, Lele.”
“He’ll be alright. Well I’ll let you get back to your boyfriend.”
“He is not-” Robyn’s voice cut off as Leandra hung up the call. Chris smirked at her and she rolled her eyes, “don’t say a thing.”
“Not saying a word. Did you want something else to eat this morning?”
“No, whatever you make is fine, Chris.”
“Is Anesa still asleep?”
“Yea. She really does sleep like a rock.”
“I know my girl.”
“So...about last night.”
“What’s up?”
“The real reason you didn’t sleep in the bed with me.”
“I can’t be in a bed with you and not touch you.”
“Oh.”
Chris chuckled, “what did you expect me to say?”
“Definitely not that.”
“My honesty has gotten a lot better over the years.”
“I see. Before you would’ve at least pretended to play coy.”
“We’re grown. Play coy for what.”
Robyn shrugged.
“I want you, that has never changed or been in question. Pretending that I don’t, gets neither of us anywhere.”
“I can agree with that.”
“So...about last night.”
“What?”
“Did I earn my kiss yet?”
“Like I don’t know you kissed me in the middle of the night.”
“I knew you were awake.”
Robyn laughed, “I woke up as soon as I heard movement from the couch. At first I thought you were going to the bathroom or your room but then I felt some body heat above me. You could’ve woke me up.”
“Nah, I wasn’t trying to do nothing. I just wanted a peck.”
“You know it’s dangerous to kiss people in their sleep.”
“But I knew you weren’t really asleep, that’s why I hovered a bit to see if you were gonna open your eyes.”
“No you didn’t.”
“Yes, I did. I could see your chest moving but it was moving too fast for you to be asleep.”
“Whatever.”
“You wanted me to kiss you, didn’t you?”
“No.”
“Robyn.”
“Huh?”
“You wanted me to kiss you, didn’t you?”
Robyn shrugged and Chris chuckled as he walked to stand in front of her, “what are you doing?”
“Giving you the kiss you wanted.”
“Last night though.”
“Last night was the kiss I wanted. Not the same thing.”
Robyn blushed as Chris tilted her chin up and gingerly placed his lips against hers. Other than his hand on her chin and his lips on her lips, none of their bodies touched. A few moments passed before Chris stepped back releasing her chin and her lips. Robyn ran her fingertips over her mouth as she waited for her mind to clear. Her eyes fluttered open and Chris was standing in front of her smiling, “you’re still standing here?”
“Was I supposed to leave or something?”
“I thought I was dreaming.”
“No Darling, that was real. I can do it again if-”
Robyn shook her head as she reached beside her for a stool to sit on, “I don’t think that will be necessary.”
Chris chuckled as he leaned a hip against the island, “you ok?”
“You can’t kiss somebody like that then ask that question. Too soon.”
“And here I was thinking I lost my touch.”
“Yea right. If there was one thing you didn't lack, it was confidence.”
“Well...you make me nervous, Robyn.”
“I make you nervous? Why?”
“Because it’s not like we don't know each other.”
“Well technically it’s been years, we don’t know each other.”
“As much as things change, a lot stays the same.”
“Well at the risk of inflating your ego, my attraction to you has not changed.”
“I was concerned that was the case.”
Robyn leaned into her palm, “really?”
“Yes, really.”
“I haven't been with anyone since we got divorced 7 years ago and you were concerned about me being attracted to you?”
“That doesn’t automatically translate to you still being attracted to me.”
“Maybe you don’t know me as well as I thought.”
Chris shrugged as he moved to stand in between her legs, “I just don’t like to assume.”
Robyn leaned back to look up at him and her mouth opened slightly. Chris’s eyes darkened as he stared at her, “I am really tempted to put my tongue back between your lips if you keep looking at me like that.”
Robyn went to speak when they heard a small voice behind them.
“Daddy, is breakfast done?”
Chris winked at Robyn before he turned to pick Anesa up in his arms, “Daddy got a little distracted so how about we go out for breakfast?”
“Can I get French Toast?”
“You can get whatever you’d like. How about you go get dressed and then we can get something to eat?”
“Can Ms. Robyn come?”
“It depends on if she needs to go home.”
“Ms. Robyn, can you come to breakfast with us?”
Robyn smiled and gently tickled her belly, “Anesa, Love, I would love to.”
“Yay!”
Chris kissed Anesa’s cheek and set her down on her feet. She rushed over to hug Robyn’s leg before running down the hall to her room. Chris turned to Robyn, “Do you really want to come?”
“Don't ask me that while looking at me like that.”
Chris laughed out loud then leaned forward to peck her lips, “I think Jessica has some sweats for you to change into.”
“Works for me.”
Jane’s canon verses, inspired by @zzozo
01 -  PRE CANON . I have to tell you a secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer. Have courage and be kind.
Prior to Prince Ben’s first proclamation, Jane is a shy and eager to please girl that’s known for being a teacher's pet - mostly due to her mother’s status as Headmistress, but also from her constant attempts to please. Meek and insecure in a way that stems from her mother’s version coddling, Jane is a shadow desperate to gain the approval of her peers and destined to fail at it from the very start.
“You did all your homework, Jane, no one is going to come to take you to the isle!” Her mother would tell her. “You made your bed, you don’t need to worry about being sent to the Isle.” With an aunt imprisoned on the Isle and her mother’s ‘kind’ reassurances of what a good girl she is, the need to be perfect is something Jane’s always felt, but that’s a goal no one could achieve.
Not a royal like the rest, Jane is often looked down on by the rest of her age group not only for her lack of royal blood, but her lack of human blood. Being part fae means that she is ‘other’ to them, she’s a sidekick instead of a hero, subhuman instead of human. Even the others born to magic are against Jane, her mother’s role in restricting the use of magic leading to others of her kind viewing her as a traitor, something that it’s far easier to hold against Jane than to fight over with one of the most powerful magical beings of Auradon.
The difference is something learned at a young age, from the moment she asks to be the princess in a game of pretend at daycare, eager to live out her happy ending. The other children jeer at her, bullying her for thinking she could have a happy ending. She’s not a princess, she’s fae, and everyone knows fae are incapable of love, so why would anyone choose her? Excluded from the game and in tears when her mother collects her, Jane changes daycares, but never forgets what she learned.
Folding herself smaller and smaller like a piece of origami paper in an attempt to become something beautiful is an artform Jane masters, but it doesn’t stop her from being shunned at lunch tables when she starts school. Jane’s isolation fills her with the need to find a place where she fits in, her own community, and each rejection she faces reaffirms her belief that she’s unpopular because of some personal failing on her own part.
She offers to help with every event and brings little gifts to everyone she tries to thank, any opportunity to make friends or be useful is something that Jane jumps on in an attempt to endear and ingratiate herself with people, but the more she swallows her own needs, the more disconnected she feels, drowning without a clue how to truly reach anyone.
02 - DURING CANON . I know it isn’t easy, but at least we should try to get along together.
Terrified at first of the villain kids that arrive in Auradon despite debating for their right to live there, it seems unlikely that Jane would find her place among those labelled as misfits and troublemakers, but it doesn’t take long before Jane is swept up in their folds and left feeling more like she belongs in their presence than in anyone else’s.
With the VKs in the school and the sense that she might have found a crowd to belong to, Jane begins to morph from someone insecure and anxious into someone shallow and snobbish. The friends that she so eagerly latched onto are abandoned for a chance to sit with the princesses she always adored without second thought. Morality and righteous equated with prestige and place of birth, Jane’s position at the cool kid’s table didn’t last long as the chair was snatched from beneath her the moment she no longer met their standards.
Grabbing the wand and bringing down the barrier might have given Mal and her friends the chance to prove they wanted to be good and turn against their own parents, but Jane learned more about who she was inside than she did the villain kids.
She was disloyal, willing to abandon the people that first befriended her and stood up for her all for someone with popularity. She was untrustworthy, willing to steal the wand and use magic to improve her own looks and as a result, she’d nearly brought every evil back to Auradon by collapsing the barrier. She’d wanted to be the cool girl with the fancy hair, the hot girl with the ripped skirt that everyone wanted, but where did that get her? What did it prove except that maybe she did belong on the Isle just like that quiz said?
Quick to learn her lesson, Jane resolves to be more open and less judgemental, to stand by the side of her friends instead of abandoning them for popularity. If Jane avoids anyone after the mess of the coronation, it was Audrey, who Jane views as a symbol of her own weakness and how easily she can be corrupted.
———
Jane’s revelations aren’t shared by everyone, her faith in Mal and her gang soon shown to be an unpopular choice when Jane realizes her own mother plans to have them expelled without hearing their case. Royalty isn’t always right and neither is the law, the time Jane spends around the VKs makes it clear that blind justice never cares for those caught up in its wake and that sometimes the rules need to be broken. Making up her own mind to go behind her mother’s back for help isn’t something Jane regrets, but the realization that her mother isn’t always right shocks Jane down to her core.
Rattled and beginning to question what she’d grown up hearing her entire life, it encouraged Jane to reach out to her new friends for support and greater understanding for the world outside of the careful playpen that her mother made for Jane’s life.
In them Jane found the courage and inspiration to begin reaching out for things she wanted, transforming from a mascot to a cheerleader and finally feeling seen by someone. As confidence building as that is, getting her first boyfriend perhaps gives Jane a greater boost of esteem and for the first time, Jane’s entirely life felt perfectly on schedule, attacks by sea witches aside.
———
Her life planned from the beginning, Jane is expected to be the Fairy Godmother one day and headmistress of the school, it’s not a secret she’s meant to replace her mother and be everything she is, but without magic. Content to follow in her mother’s footsteps, it’s easy to agree to her mothers plans on her career when Jane’s focus is elsewhere.
Still the same little girl wanting to play princess at heart, Jane is a romantic that dreams of her future with a loved one, confident that at last her happy ending is playing like it’s meant to. She knows the stories, that you grow up and go through a noteworthy event, you meet your true love and eventually you’re married.
The Coronation was her noteworthy event and Jane never questioned that Carlos was the one when he asked her to Cotillion, officially becoming her first boyfriend. Their relationship lets Jane feel like everything is falling into place and granting her everything she ever wished for. By being with Carlos, she has inclusion into his friends group and having a boyfriend means she isn’t alone. Having proof that she’s desirable to one person boosts her self esteem and gives her faith that everything will work out in the end because it has to, it’s her happy ending.
That certainty remained with Jane all through Auradon Prep, her time spent making sure Carlos never doubted her adoration and striving to have her fairytale play out perfectly until the story twisted. Graduation brings with it new opportunities for everyone, but it also brings about a fork in the road where both Jane and Carlos have to admit it’s better if they split ways.
People in fairytales don’t break up and Jane knows it’s for the best, but she’s left with a sense of loss and the certainty that she’s missed her chance at a happy ending because things didn’t work out. Firmly reminded of her status as a sidekick instead of a princess, Jane tries to let go of her romantic aspirations to focus on her career, dedicating herself to growing into the person her mother always planned for her to be.
03 - POST CANON . When there is kindness, there is goodness. When there is goodness, there is magic.
At fourteen, Jane dreamed of living anywhere but in the same kingdom as her mother, of going off to college and spending her summer on a beach while mermaids swam in the bay, or waking up in the spring to throw open a window gazing at Sherwood forest to see flowers blooming. She had the grades, there wasn’t any reason why Jane couldn’t go anywhere she planned and graduating Auradon Prep felt like a finish line to cross to begin living life on her own terms, but it didn’t work out that way.
Single and with her mother praising her newfound dedication to establishing her career, Jane surrenders her dreams of going away somewhere to school and instead enrolls in online classes at MIT. Slowly Jane’s vision of herself fades away, her mother’s hands molding Jane’s future into a duplicate of herself.
Working hard to earn a place at Auradon Prep like her mother, Jane soon finds herself with a job that no one thinks she deserves, whispers of nepotism following wherever she goes. Despite the time it takes up, Jane refuses to surrender her role with helping to organize social events for the castle, the one job that Jane enjoys more than anything else she’d found. Perhaps she could never be a princess, but at least she could make other girls feel like they were.
It’s easy for life to feel empty when you’re always helping someone else live out your dreams. Classes were taken without making new friends, balls were arranged without expectations of being able to dance, and new couples were celebrated while Jane doubted she would ever be anyone’s girlfriend ever again.
You dated once and married in fairytales, Jane dated once and went through a break-up, she helped other people achieve their happy endings without having her own. Yet no matter how often she tells herself that, it doesn’t make it any easier, the stress and anxiety building as Jane struggles to live up to her mother’s ideals.
Each day feels the same, waking up, throwing herself into every little project she can find, trying to make her mother proud, and working until she’s ready to pass out. The longer Jane exists in that pattern, the more established it becomes until it seems she’ll never break free of it.
Until she moves out.
Nineteen and with her own place, Jane answers to her own rules for the first time, no longer hearing her mother’s comments about her bed or when she wakes up or what she’s wearing. No fear of the woman wanting to go through her phone or searching her room, it’s a breath of freedom that sparks the first change in Jane.
Years after the first arrival of the Isle born, scandals and political fights help tentative friendships forge connections of unbreakable steel, people call Jane ‘bestie’ and encourage her to be her own person instead of a copy of her mother. It’s the acceptance that was always so rare in Auradon, that feeling of belonging, and it’s enough for Jane to give up her job at Auradon prep and begin to figure out who she is when she takes charge of her own future.
04 - PRESENT . And Ella continued to see the world not as it is, but as it could be.
The shift in her life isn't one that can be attributed to any single moment in time, but Jane has slowly been changing throughout the years and as she finds people that welcome her close, she gravitates to them more than her mother. With her efforts no longer devoted to living out fairy godmother's life plan, jane's priority turns to the isle and doing what she can to take care of her friends.
Using up her vacation time and sick days to travel away from work for a tournament isn't a move her mother approves of, but there's nothing she can do to stop Jane. Time is available and Jane is young, a flight of fancy can be forgiven in a teenager even if it is disappointing, something fairy godmother made sure that Jane knew.
One trip could be forgiven, but a second mere weeks later could not. No matter the reason for the trip, jane and her mother saw it from radically different perspectives, what jane saw as an important political meeting to defend the rights of the isle and possibly forge diplomatic connections was a waste of time to Fairy Godmother, who accusing Jane of shirking her duties and proving she wasn't responsible or serious when it came to obligations to Auradon Prep.
Anger getting the better of her, Jane finally breaks the dream her mother has long held and tells the truth - she won't be future headmistress of AP and that she's quitting at the end of the year.
Jane not only attends the town hall, but streaks her hair red, the vibrant color a testament to her support of the isle as well as a declaration of her feelings towards a certain pirate. It's a move that draws scrutiny and disapproval from the media as well as her mother, but for once that isn't enough to stop Jane from doing what she wants to with her life, finally searching out the path that will lead her to happiness.
It's on this path to self discovery that Jane begins to shed her fears of her magic, experimenting in the hopes that her fae blood might be something that could lead to doing something for the place, the people she'd come to care so much about.
During a celebration on the Isle for Ulf Night, everything goes wrong.
She creates a bioluminescent tree to help shine light on the isle, its glow fueled by the feelings sparked in her by the night, but her happiness comes at a cost. Fairy Godmother has enemies on the isle and they don't enjoy the sight of her daughter roaming freely on the Isle, a tourist in what's been their prison, and the sight of her so freely using magic when such a thing in Auradon would earn some a prison sentence is too much for the patience.
Jane is soft and unguarded, she's easy prey for a group of attackers no matter how many months she's spent learning self defense from the Lost Revenge crew, and a blow to the head finally brings her down.
When she wakes again, she's locked up in a cell, held prisoner on the Isle without any expectation of rescue. She schemes of how to break free, of biting at her captors and stealing a sword, determined to break free when she couldn't depend on anyone else to help her.
The invasion of the pirates proves Jane wrong about that and they continued to prove her wrong as she is kept aboard the Lost Revenge to heal. Recovering takes weeks into months, but Jane grows stronger and fills her hours with crafts, creating things with her hands as a way of expressing gratitude she doesn't have the words for. There in the medbay of the ship, Jane feels safe and happy, a sense of belonging that's been foreign her entire life, and when she's well enough to leave, Jane doesn't go far.
After being fired by email and receiving word from her mother that amounts to being told not to talk with her unless Jane resumes living life in accordance to Fairy Godmother's ideals, there's little to keep Jane in Auradon and she happily gives up the apartment she can no longer afford in favor of moving in to the apartment behind the Chip Shoppe on the Isle, her life again reshaping itself as she adjusts to living on the Isle and creating her own path.
Stark's Bug
And we finally landed in the Marvel universe from here on out the events of the movies will play into the story as well as my own ideas so, enjoy! Also, sidenote Starkid songs kept popping into my head while proof reading so if you see any spelling errors it's their fault for having such catchy songs.
Words: 1606
Chapter 6
As any 6 year old you were currently groggy because you just woke up. Your mood worsened by the fact that your dad would leave for a business trip today.
"Somebody woke up on the wrong foot." Said man commented as you dragged your feet towards the table. You filled your bowl with cereal and chose to ignore his comment. You were rather mean spirited when you woke up.
"Oh using the force first thing in the morning I see." He said as he observed. "You really have a grip on it now, don't you? The first time you tried that, you were fully awake and still managed to cause a milk flood." He chuckled. You cracked a smile remembering the scene. Especially the part where at attempt nr. 18, he slipped in the milk and crashed onto his behind breaking out in a full of string of bad words.
"Looks like you're coming back to me now." He joked and continued with telling you the funny things you clearly remembered that we're caused because you didn't have full control over the force.
You still don't completely but you just repeat whatever you want to learn until you could do it half asleep and moved on to the next thing.
Once the cereal was down you were almost completely awake and ready to face the day.
"You ready to brush those pearly whites?" Tony asked
"Yes! Can I use my new toothbrush?" you asked following him into your bathroom.
"Yes, that's why you have it."
He handed you your toothbrush and toothpaste from the sink and took his own.
You two brushed while you pulled faces at each other in the mirror. Giggling over the weird face he pulled you almost chocked on foam.
He helped you wash your face which had a milk and toothpaste beard before he washed his own.
"Alright, are we done here? Or did we forget something?" He asked you scratching his chin, pretending to think.
"We have to shave!" you said like it was the most obvious thing in the world and got your "razor"  from the sink.
"Yeah next thing you know you'll be looking like Santa if you don't shave!"
You two went to his bathroom to "shave" since he is a responsible father who doesn't keep sharp razors in his son's bathroom.
Recently you had insisted on doing it with him just like you brushed your teeth and washed your face together it was just the next logical step for you. So instead of watching him do it, you now joined in.
He applied some shaving cream to your face, then to his own. You were mimicking his movements to the best of your abilities as he was doing it. And because you're so good at copying you always ended up with a shaving cream beard that resembled your fathers. Tony dies a little at the cuteness everytime he sees it.
Your clothes today were picked out by you. It was a cute starwars t-shirt, bright green pants and your Captain Magic jacket. The most stylish outfit you have in your humble 6 year old opinion.
You came out of your bedroom with your backpack on your back.
"I'm ready daddy!" you shouted walking toward the stairs to the lab/garage as every day before..
"Are you sure? I think you forgot something." he said walking down the stairs with you.
You thought for a moment.
"What? I didn't forget anything." At that he placed a pair of sunglasses onto your head.
"There now you look like me!" he said giving your head a kiss, "You also forgot your homework."
"I didn't have homework.?" You said absentmindedly as you examined your new sunglasses that matched the ones your dad was always wearing.
"Really? Because I remember clearly that you asked me to hand you some pictures of you for your class project." he said holding an envelope toward you.
"That's not until tomorrow."
"But you could already take it with you so you don't forget it when I'm not here to remember it." you took the envelope. And climbed inside one of the cars. This one only had two seats and one of which had a booster on it.
Your name was written on the envelope in your fathers handwriting, and when you peaked inside you saw all the pictures you had selected with him yesterday. You put them in your lap as you buckled up.
Bobbing your head along with the music during the drive to school and singing along to a few lyrics you knew, the day seemed to start out okay. Just as any other day but a lingering sadness sat deep within your stomach.
As your dad stopped the car infront of your school, it hit you. This was the last time you'd see him for the next few days. While you were used to him having to take trips without you, they usually were only a day long. And the last trip that was longer you didn't even remember. This would be the first time where he wouldn't be back the next day since you were 3. It made your stomach sink and throat close a but, especially since you'd be staying in your home rather than spending the night at your uncle's or aunts house.
"Ready for a fun d-- Hey what's wrong?" Tony asked seeing the tears build up in your eyes.
"I don't want you to leave." once admitted you started to bawl your eyes out.
Your fathers eyebrows shot up in worry. He quickly got out of the car walking around it to pull you into his arms.
"Aw, Bug. It's only a few days. I'll be back before you know it. It's alright, I'll miss you too. You still have Happy, and Obie, and Pepper." He soothed gently swaying back and forth.
"I don't want them... I want my daddy." You choked out between sobs. A sound that made Tony's heart wrench.
"I know but, how about I'll tell them to take you to that cool park you want to go to? You're going to have so much fun you won't even realize I'm gone."
"I don't want to go there with them, I want to go there with you." You cried out sniveling and wiping at your face.
Tony sighed as he rubbed your back soothingly.
"Bug, I already moved the date last time. Uncle Rhodey said he'll drag me there if I don't go. I promised him, and you know that we can't break promises, right?" He tried to reason, you nodded through your tears.
"How about we go somewhere when I'm back. Where would you like to go with me, hm?" He asked soothingly petting your head still swaying.
You sniffled as you calmed down. "I,  I wanna go to the park with you."
"The amusement park?"
You nodded.
"Alright, as soon as I'm back we two go to the park and have some fun. Does that sound good?"
"You Promise?"
"I Promise. Do you want me to bring you to your classroom?"
"Carry me." you said laying your head back on his shoulder.
Tony chuckled, grabbed your stuff and carried you into the school. He was slightly concerned considering that you usually weren't this clingy when it came to his trips. It was probably because of how long it was. He reassured himself.
He got looks from other parents left and right, most parents at this school didn't really seem to like clingy or even just emotional children, he found that odd but ignored their looks. You reached your classroom way too soon in your opinion. He put you down and crouched in front of you.
"So, are you feeling better now?"
You nodded.
"Alright, here's your stuff. Uncle Happy will pick you up and bring you to the Daycare since he still has work to do. If you get homework take care of it there, then you don't have to lose so much free time? Don't do anything I would do. I love you Bug. I'll be back in about 76 hours. Have some fun while I'm gone." he told you softly not wanting to leave just yet after such an emotional outburst.
"I will. Love you too, daddy."He sighed, gave you a hug and stood up. Slowly you went into the classroom not wanting to worry him any further. But still extremely welled up with emotions you couldn't describe properly.
After taking off your jacket and putting it away together with your other things you sat down on your table next to your friend Jason.
Together you waited for the bell to ring and school to begin.
Lessons became boring quickly and you passed most of them daydreaming about things while completing your work.
In the breaks you played with Jason, Sam and Ryan, your usual friend group. You had forgotten all about your little breakdown this morning by then.
You were picked up by Happy as told, together with a bunch of other kids since he apparently took over "bus duty" from the daycare for the next three days. Ryan also needed to come to daycare so you sat together.
At Stark Industries you completed your homework and told Ryan the answers so the two of you could play together.
Too soon you were brought home by Happy and spend the rest of your almost uneventful day eating fast food and watching a bunch of Disney movies. You drifted off in front of the TV without even changing into your pj's.
You were unaware that while you had your much needed sleep your father was currently living through some events that would change the course of both of your lifes forever.
Your sleep was uneasy almost as if knowing that something wasn't right.
jailhouse blues [b. hargrove headcanon]
It still felt like night time when you got behind the wheel of your car.
The sky was a dusty shade of blue and neither the moon or sun were easily detected above you.
You drove for two hours and the sun didn't greet you until you were parked outside of the Kern County police station.
Billy didn't come out for another fifteen minutes.
He was putting his watch back on as he dragged his feet over to the car.
He looked like a tired mess with terrible hair and a torn lip.
Your heart ached and the pain only grew once he was in the car, shoving himself into the passanger seat of your car.
You two had been together about two years, but he almost never sat shotgun.
He was ways the driver.
You two always took his car.
It felt weird.
"Thanks for coming to get me." His words were shadowed with shame as he leaned in and took a quick kiss.
It felt like a refreshing glass of water after sitting in a cell all night.
"You okay?"
You couldn't not check.
"Yeah. Fine." Effortlessly cool, he said. "Are you hungry?"
It was a dumb question, but he asked anyway.
He was hungry.
And he wanted coffee.
"I'm okay."
You didn't know what to say.
It wasn't as if picking up your boyfriend from jail was a happy occasion.
As you drove, you couldn't stop yawning.
Every time your mouth opened up to take in air and your eyes fluttered with exhaustion, Billy felt shittier.
It was his fault you had to get up so early.
Everything was his fault.
"I can drive..." Reaching for the wheel, he offered.
He knew you weren't exactly thrilled.
Even if you were hard to read right now .
Shaking your head, you told him it was okay.
You sort of expected him to sleep in the passenger seat.
You imagined it was hard to get a peaceful rest in the drunk tank.
"Come on, let me buy you breakfast. It's the least I can do."
Staring at the road stretched out in front of you, you tried to say no.
Billy's voice over the collect call, haggard and asking you to pick him up paused from its loop long enough for you to hear your stomach growl.
You knew pancakes would make this a little easier to deal with .
"Yeah, I think there's a stop a few miles up."
It wasn't as if you were paying any attention on the drive over.
A hundred different worries had been occupying your mind.
You didn't remember using your signals, changing lanes, or stopping at red lights.
Of course, you had.
Billy sipped at his coffee as if it was holy water.
Both hands around the mug as he hunched over the diner table.
It was unusually silent between you two.
Generally, you always had stories to tell one another.
Billy was too ashamed to explain himself.
You were too scared to ask.
"What did you say to Tanner?" Billy worked up the courage to speak.
Your four year old was Billy's most favorite person
He didn't think he wanted to be with someone who had a kid
But he fell for Tanner quickly after falling for you.
The two boys were thick as thieves
Tanner worshipped Billy.
He named his goldfish after him.
He thought Billy was so cool
And Billy liked that.
They played catch at the park.
Tanner pretended to shave beside him in the mirror.
They played ninjas in the hallway.
They slept on the couch in their sweatpants together on lazy Sunday mornings.
Tanner groaned when Billy wasn’t with you picking him up from daycare.
Billy was PISSED when he couldn’t get work off to go trick or treating with you two.
They needed one another.
"I just told him I had to run an errand."
"So, your neighbor down the hall watching him?"
They had a six year old girl and the kids often played together around the apartment building.
"No, his dad is just hanging out there until I'm back."
So it went without saying that Billy wouldn't be coming over right away.
Billy's sigh causes ripples through his coffee.
He leaned back in the booth and looked annoyed instantly.
"That asshole..." He muttered to himself.
"He's his dad."
"Could have fooled me." Billy argued.
Even though he knew how much it bothered Tanner, Billy kind of liked that your ex was absent.
"Well, he helped today. Tanner would rather it be you with him, but I didn't want to destroy his fantasy of you."
That was why you two weren't talking.
Deep down inside, your disappointment was burning into vile anger.
Deep down inside, Billy knew that he had fucked up hard.
"What did you tell him?”
Him = Mark, the pilot piece of shit ex.
"I said I had to help a friend." You knew Billy wouldn't want his business being spread around.
You also knew your ex would use Billy's arrest against you forever.
"You didn't tell him?" Poking his tongue out through clenched teeth, he asked.
"No. I didn't tell him that my boyfriend got in a drunk brawl and was arrested. What were you thinking?"
"I wasn't." He was too blasted to use his head for anything besides butting others with it.
The waitress interupted the tension, taking your orders.
Shortstack with a fruit cup for you.
Eggs, toast, and bacon for Billy.
Once she left, you looked away and rubbed over and over at your temple.
You were trying to hold it together.
"I'm sorry." Billy's shoulders were to his ears, but he leaned in and tried to hold your hand.
“Hey, you know I’m sorry...”
He was being sincere.
The guy you first met would have never apologized.
"We just got rowdy."
That's how things tended to go when he was with his group of friends from high school.
They egged each other on. They drank too much. They were ‘fun’ guys.
"I want to set up some rules." You sat on both hands.
Not giving them to Billy.
Billy did not like rules and his raised brows reflected that.
"I don't want you to drink around Tanner."
He scoffed. He thought that was ridiculous.
“I’ve been fine around Tanner.”
The idea that he would lose control around the kid insulted him.
Especially since it was something he feared, growing up with the dad he had, Billy worried that it was just in him to be a drunk asshole.
"And I don't know about him going out with you and your guys...”
Tanner loved being with ‘the boys’.
He was getting to an age where he hero-worshiped other boys.
He was starting to feel weird about having only a mom around.
"Kevin likes coming to his ball games. They like him."
They were always good to Tanner. They treated him like Billy's boy.
Because Billy always called him that.
His boy.
He liked the role.
He considered himself to be Tanner's dad.
His heart was aflutter over the fact that he would be starting kindergarten in September.
Billy would tell anyone who would listen that Tanner could tie his own shoes and spell his own name without help.
"He doesn’t need a bad influence in his life. You said that. You said that was why you didn’t want him to meet Neil.”
Billy sprung to protection every time you two visited Indiana or when Christmases and birthdays rolled around.
"When have I been drunk around Tanner?" His eyes pierced yours, nearly sinking teeth into your face.
Your brows raised back as if to ask him the same question in return.
"It's been a long time."
"What happens next time you're arrested?" "What happens when there are charges?"
This was not the first time the police had made an appearance in Billy’s life.
It wasn’t even the first time he was cuffed.
It was just the first time he was held overnight.
Billy didn't have an answer for you.
He sipped at his coffee and held tight to the bitter taste in his mouth.
"You're not taking him away from me, are you?" The fear was evident in Billy's voice.
You could hear a crack in the forced strength.
The blue in his eyes were shaking as they struggled to read you.
"No."
Tanner would never recover from that heartbreak.
You didn't think Billy would either.
"But you got to be better. If you don't want to be better for you, fine, but for him. He thinks the world of you."
He always said that Billy was ‘super strong’ and ‘super tough’.
Billy hung his head in shame, just staring at the new rip in his jeans from last night's fight.
"I know."
"Be the person he thinks you are."
It was advice that you followed yourself.
"I can do that." Swallowing hard around the sharp knot in his throat, he swore.
The silence returned, but this time you gave him your hand and waited for him to take it.
Thankfully, he didn't make you wait very long.
"What about who you think I am?"
"I know you. You're better than this." Confidently, you nodded and then allowed a heavy sigh out from your chest.
Billy nodded in agreement.
"Now that that's out of the way...can you tell me about Kevin's birthday before the brawl?" You asked.
You both tried to move on.
It never left Billy's mind how close he was to losing his tiny buddy.
And that would mean losing you.
His favorite reasons.
Sorato Scene from Seeking Resonance
Hey folks!  I wrote a scene about Sora and Yamato discussing the possibility of starting a family in my newest Seeking Resonance update.  The story is about 170K long, so I can totally see not wanting to wade through all of that for some Sorato.  But I thought Sorato fans would enjoy it, so if you’re interested, I’ve placed it beneath the cut.
Some context for this scene: Takeru and Hikari are expecting their first kid, and an OC was recently released from the hospital.
Read on below the cut!  The scene is about 2,000 words long and is mildly sexual, but it’s not explicit.
Yamato lay on his side in bed, spooned up against Sora, trailing his hands over the curves of her hip and waist. Their clothing and covers were on the floor, discarded and forgotten. Sweat dried on their skin, cooling their flushed bodies as their breathing normalized. A potent cocktail of post-climactic hormones left him sated, lazy, and relaxed, and nothing seemed to exist beyond their bed.
His wife leaned back, resting against his chest. Her head tipped, and he realized that she was listening to the beat of his heart. “Thank goodness you’re back.”
Yamato kissed her crown, grateful that she couldn’t see his sentimental smile. He had returned from touring almost a week ago, but Sora still spoke that phrase at least daily. “I’ll stay for a while,” he said, giving the ritualistic answer.
Sora rolled to face him. Although this decreased the potential for snuggles, Yamato couldn’t argue with the view. His eyes slid down from her face, but not enough to miss her indulgent smile.
“I’m so happy you’re home that I put off asking, but… Are you sure your band mates don’t mind taking a break from touring? I want to be with you, and we both want you here for the birth, but a band needs to make decisions as a group.”
With effort, Yamato returned his full attention to her face. “After almost half a year of touring, we all want a break. Besides, we want to write new material. We can do that while we travel, but there’s an element of being strung out and exhausted.”
“Hmm…” Sora’s fingertips trailed playfully over his chest. “And ready to punch each other?”
Yamato tried to remain deadpan, but the corner of his mouth twitched up. “It will take time to refine what we worked on while touring, write new songs, and learn and record them. You might push me out of the door by the time we’re ready to hit the road again.”
The lighting was low, a mere glow from the dimmed side table lamps, but the warmth in Sora’s eyes was still visible. Yamato swallowed hard and glanced away, unable to withstand the thumping pressure beneath his ribs. “You know better, Yamato.”
He grunted, and her responding giggle tickled the bones of his inner ear. More flustered than ever, he inched back. The giggling blossomed to laughter, and Sora rolled on top of him. He hissed when intimate parts of her landed on intimate parts of him, and the heat in his face went volcanic.
She kissed him, soft and sweet, a familiar touch that soothed and calmed. By the time his eyes slid open, his usual scowl was restored, despite the warmth in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her in place, ready and waiting to roll them both over.
As the moment lingered, something shifted in her expression. Her smile faded, and her eyes fell from his, drifting to the side. Her fingers moved from his chest to her hair, threading through the strands. Frowning, Yamato lifted himself with his elbows, the better to view his wife.
“What’s wrong?”
“Um…” She twisted a lock around her finger and twirled it. Yamato took her hand and disentangled it from her hair.
“Sora.” While he didn’t always know what to say, he did know what he was feeling. He poured every emotion into those all-important syllables, knowing she would hear and understand.
He felt her relax against him in stages. She rested her head on his chest, drawing nervous patterns against his skin with her fingertip. Since she wasn’t looking, Yamato indulged his impulse to cock an eyebrow. “Sora.”
“It’s nothing to worry about. I guess lately, I just…” Sora sighed, then drew herself up, crossing her arms on top of him. Yamato swallowed a grunt as her shift in weight squeezed the air from his lungs.
“I don’t know… Maybe it was because you were away, and the apartment was so empty. Maybe it has to do with Takeru and Hikari-chan’s pregnancy. Or maybe… Maybe it’s because Eimi-chan was so sick. Maybe I’m over-thinking it! Maybe, maybe it’s just… just time for this conversation?”
The nervous words wouldn’t stop, so Yamato intervened. He kissed her, stemming the flow, then pulled back just enough to speak. “I’ve been thinking that, too.”
She blinked, drawing and lifting shutters over mahogany eyes. “You, you have?”
“Mm.” He felt a little raw, uncertain. Even with Sora, these issues were difficult for him. But it was counterproductive to avoid discussing a plan that intimately included her, so he gathered himself as best he could and pressed on. “I want children. I want a family with you.”
Twin circles of color appeared on Sora’s cheeks, then rapidly spread. Yamato swallowed a groan that might shatter the moment. God, he wished his cell phone was in reach; a picture of this would be worth every yen he could ever earn. This smile was warmth, home, love, his own personal sunrise. It was the fuel that propelled him forward, no matter what odds he faced, all for the hope of seeing dawn again. Every part of him responded, but one bit was particularly noticeable.
“Now. Let’s start on that now-”
“Yamato!” Sora cried. “That’s not how birth control works-”
She gasped when he flipped them both over, pinning her between him and the mattress. With a devious smirk, he whispered, “Spare me your science.”
A twinkle of humor lit her eyes. She clapped a hand to his mouth and leaned in, pretending to be cross. “Ishida Yamato, we will finish our discussion.”
“Fine,” he sighed. “Our very short discussion.”
“Ugh!” Laughing, Sora swatted his head, then snuggled into her pillow. “Alright. If I want kids, and you want kids, then…”
“Then we want kids. A family.”
Her forehead indented with deep lines, and Yamato tensed. “It sounds so perfect,” she whispered. “But… is it? We have the money, but do we have the time? You tour, and I travel for my work and spend so much time in my studio. How will we fit children into this?”
“That’s a good point.” Yamato propped himself up using his forearms, removing some of his weight from Sora’s body. “It’s a big part of why I haven’t brought this up until now. To make matters worse, our parents still have demanding jobs. We would have to rely on daycare, but we can afford it.”
“But is that fair to them? Realistically, how much of our time can we give our kids? I don’t-” Her mouth snapped shut as her gaze fell from his.
Although he already understood, it was important to iron this out vocally. Yamato brushed her cheek with a fingertip, nudging her face back towards his. “You don’t want our kids to feel lonely, like I did, or to misunderstand us because we aren’t available enough.”
She winced, a hint of pain that dug at Yamato’s heart. “They say that ultimately, we are our parents.”
Yamato’s hands gripped the mattress, a safe target. He wasn’t sure whom he was so furious with: their parents, the origin of these fears, society, who spewed such terrifying axioms, or himself, for believing them on some level. “That’s not true,” he growled in a voice that rumbled like thunder.
Sora stroked his cheeks, and he shut his eyes and focused on her calming touch. “Maybe not. I hope not. But it is true that our first instinct is to repeat the example we learned, and… While I love our parents, there are some lessons from them that I’d like to leave behind.”
His frown wavered into a weird, uneven line. “Therapy?” He spoke the word with a mixture of uncertainty and disdain, like a scientist suggesting a supernatural explanation after exhausting rational ones.
Sora’s laugh blunted the hard edges of discomfort and anger. “That doesn’t sound fun, but I think that if we decide to have kids, we should try it. It should prepare us to be better parents, and who knows? It might resolve lingering issues for us, too.”
Yamato nodded, but couldn’t bring himself to agree vocally. Hell, he was half-hoping that she’d reject his suggestion. He seized the first thought in his mind, eager to move away from therapy. “I wonder… Do all couples start out like this?”
Interest lit her eyes, and Yamato knew at once that he had said something leading without meaning to. “Like what?”
“Well…” He searched for a safer alternative, kicking himself mentally. When nothing came to mind, he was left with that idle, dangerous thought. “Do most couples start out like us? So sure that they can escape their parents’ mistakes and raise kids together. So… sure it will last.”
“Yamato…” His glance slid up to her forehead, avoiding the pain in her eyes. “We may be newlyweds, but we didn’t rush into this. How many years have we been listening to Taichi tell us to get hitched, already?”
Yamato tsked, annoyed at the reminder. “Too damned many.”
“Right. And we were cautious because of everything that’s happened to us. Neither of us are willing to take risks with family, because we’re so aware of the potential for pain. But even knowing that… Maybe because we knew it, we chose each other. And I believe we will continue to choose each other every day of our lives. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have married you.”
Yamato was rendered temporarily mute. That happened with Sora. How could anyone, especially someone like him, who was clumsy about communicating his feelings, respond to the warmth and love she radiated? He felt like a little boy bumbling before an older crush. “Sora, I… I want to have a family with you. I want to give you to our kids. I know time is an issue, but it’s not like we’re failures if we use daycare.”
“Oh, Yamato. Thank you.” Sora rolled to her side, then cuddled against him, resting her head on his shoulder. “They say no one feels ready, but… I still ask myself if we are.”
“I know,” he murmured. “I know we shouldn’t rush. But…”
He hesitated, unwilling to continue. When Sora whispered his name and stroked his face, he pulled himself together with a swallowed sigh. “When I saw Eimi in the hospital… I didn’t want to worry you, so I downplayed how bad she looked, and how easily she might not have… She’s so young. About our age, and still… She could have died that day.”
Eimi’s bloated face flashed before him in the dim light, her eyes dull, her skin waxy and off-color. Cursing, Yamato rubbed his lids, scrubbing away the image. He wrapped his arms around Sora, holding the dearest thing in his life to him, as if she might otherwise vanish. “We don’t always have time to wait. We’ll find a way to make this work. If you want a family too, then I don’t want us to miss out.”
“You might be right,” Sora whispered. “Let’s… discuss it more tomorrow.”
Yamato nodded, but didn’t speak. Although he had hoped to love her again before they slept, too many thoughts and feelings crowded his head. It was better to sleep on it, to approach the topic with the energy and hope of a new day.
With that decided, he shifted into a more comfortable position and closed his eyes, listening to the sound of Sora’s breathing as he drifted towards sleep.
All-Star Sports: Sport Games Kids Will Love
Running your  summertime camp?   Hillary comes back having some enjoyable sport games children will enjoy! These are great for a sports-themed week at summer camp, daycare, preschool, or homeschool!
Sports week proved to be a enormous hit! We actually had to waitlist children because so many were interested in attending. It was a favorite for the children in addition to for me personally. We had a complete blast!
All-Star Sports: Sport Games Kids Will Love
There are so many unique things that you can do with a sports summer camp. We’d three themed-days: Baseball Day, Basketball Day, and Soccer Day. This helped me plan and organize better since I could focus actions on such particular sports.
Daily Program
For sports we had been outside in my backyard nearly the whole time. In Arizona. In the Summertime. And of course we had been having record-breaking warmth- pushing 120 degrees! I needed to get slightly creative therefore this is just how we did it.
10-10:10: Bell work (Sports-themed coloring pages, word searches, and word scrambles) 10:10-11:30: Outside sports-themed actions 11:30-11:40: Snack time (and some otter pops for extra “cooling down”) 11:40-11:55: Inside “cool down” activity 11:55-12: Line up matches and dismissal
Day 1: Baseball-Themed Sports Activities
Water Resistant Baseball
I had a baby pool in my backyard filled with water and water balloons. I had a baseball bead setup and also a plastic wiffle ball bat. I divide up the kids into two teams and explained the rules of water balloon baseball.
The rules are super easy. Each child gets three pitches. If they explode all 3 balloons they then get a house run. If they hit on the balloon and it will not explode they get one base per hit. Every child on the group gets to receive a twist batting, and then we change teams. The children were super to keeping the score so I did not even have to be worried about that.
Notice: I highly recommend purchasing the pack of water balloons that tie themselves. They are roughly $7-$8 dollars for 100 balloons, but they’re worth the price!
Water Balloon Toss
We did a basic water balloon toss. The children partnered up and pitched a water balloon between them up only one step each time they pitched and captured the balloon, until it burst on one of them!
Pitching Practice
Next we had pitching clinic. This was basically a way for each the children to go mad and crazy throwing water balloons but perhaps not throwing them at each other. Each of them must throw balloons at the “hit zone” attracted on my back fence until all of the water balloons were consumed.
The hour and a half went so quickly outside it was already time for wash up. Once all the water balloon bits have been picked up I handed out otter pops. This was great motivation for the children to pick up all those small parts of balloon! The top cleaner-uppers must pick their otter pop color first!
Indoor Balloon Baseball
Next up it was time to get our cool down activities inside. We made “bats” with paper plates and popsicle sticks. Each child got their own bat and their own balloon (no water that time!) . They took turns in pairs nurturing into each other and hitting home runs.
Indoor Balloon Volleyball
After they were done, we played indoor volleyball with a balloon. I tied a string across my family room, and the children had to keep the balloon in the atmosphere. As the game got easier, I included clips.
Day 2: Basketball-Themed Sports Activities
Basketball Obstacle Course
I put up an obstacle course in my backyard utilizing pool planters, a baby swimming pool, hula-hoops, cones, and our basketball hoop at the end.
The children lined up and when it was their turn to go they had to dunk themselves into the baby pool hop over the skillet, high step into the hula-hoops, dribble round the cones, and shoot at a lay up at the basketball hoop!
Fill The Bucket
After the obstacle course, we cooled down with some water races. I divide children into four teams. Each team needed a bucket they needed to fill with water…by employing a plastic cup full of holes!
We did it relay style so as it had their turn they ran to the baby pool filled up their cup ran to their bucket with their cup over their heads, then dumped the remaining water out of their cup in their bucket, and then rushed back to their group and labeled the next person on the basis of
I was the judge watching the buckets to see which group had their bucket first. We played that game several times since it was so enjoyable!
Hamper Hoop Basketball Hats
After all of the outdoor enjoyment, we came in to dry, cool down, and create hamper blouse basketball hats!
These were a enormous hit for the children and for the parents. Consider the game Hedbanz, but rather than a card it’s a basketball hoop! It was super easy to do!
Provides: Strips of paper to go around their head Stapler Backboard (part piece of newspaper) Marker Scrap paper Small plastic cups
Instructions:
Quantify a strip of paper around your headand then staple it at the ideal size.
Pull on a backboard (black rectangle) on newspaper, then staple the backboard to the headband.
Cut off the base of a plastic cup, draw some lines (to resemble a net), and staple to the headband.
Crumple some scrap paper to work with as a “basketball,” and take turns shooting hoops at one another’s heads!
Day 3: Football-Themed Sports Activities
Wide Receiver Drills
The last day of the sports week has been Football Day. We started out with the children line up and run wide receiver exercises.
I had them run a wide receiver “course,” and when they turned around I threw them the football (we used water balloons!) . We had children who have been waiting online be pretend defensive players to make it tougher for the wide receiver.
The children said there needed to be points included in the game so we chose if they missed they got no points. When they caught it popped they got a single point. When they caught it and it did not pop they got two points.
The younger children did not seem to care about points, but the older boys had been looking for a success!
Quarterback Twist Around
I found a picnic blanket at Walmart and cut out different shapes and awarded each shape a different point amount. On their turn they tried to throw a water balloon through one of the holes.
When they got it through the hole they got the points, and when a child on the other side of the tarp captured the balloon they then got the points too!
Children took turns tossing, catching, and holding the tarp up high. Whatever water balloons I had left after that I let the children play catch with, and then had them do quarterback “drills” at the walls (aka throw the water balloons at the wall!) .
After they picked up all the water balloon bits, we had otter pops and snacks!
Soccer Kickers
After we had been great and respectful, we came in to cool down and create our football kickers!
Any football fan knows that sometimes a game boils down to a field goal kick. We left our kickers “catapult-style” out of popsicle sticks and rubber rings.
They’re quite simple to make however, the kiddos will require some help in the adult so be certain that you plan more time for it.
We utilized puff balls to get footballs. Once they created their field goal kickers they matched up and took turns their popsicle stick kickers. One child would make a field goal setting their hands together in ‘L’ shapes while the other child “kicked,” then they would switch. This was a winning activity for certain!
Coach Says
Another enjoyable game we played during the week has been “Coach” This is only like Simon Says, but using a sports motif. I’d have children take turns being trainer while I needed a moment or two to install the next activity.
There’s no doubt that children absolutely love matches, and what better way to educate them a little about various sports, compared to these super fun sports-themed actions?!
Have a look at our other themed-week thoughts!
