Vijay enjoys intimate kissing and that often involves tongue for him, especially if he and his partner are horny for each other. He does kiss Arki all over the place, gives his scars a lot of attention as well, like he wants to heal them that way. It depends strongly on his mood and how horny he is and with whom he is. Arki for example makes him do things he never would have considered doing. He literally searches for his over-stimulation and this is likely to catapult him into another realm so the real world seems to morph with cyberspace (since he's almost 24/7 connected as well), and he's got no control anymore. It may happen he starts crying because controlling his emotions at this point is impossible. He's not into crying though, it's a side effect that sometimes happens. It's best to communicate with him if he's alright because he may be too overstimulated to even notice.

Ryder is very bendy. He's tried out lots of different poses during the years and he enjoys a lot of differences as well. His favorite however is still taking his partner from behind, best to stand, while the partner bends over or is kneeling on the bed. These positions are perfect for holding them where Ryder wants them to stay, so he got full control of the situation. It's definitely his favorite when he searches for a random fuck. Z - Zoinks - Have they ever been caught/compromised? How did they react?

Ryder has been caught by his own father and brother when he was seeing a JoyToy giving them a blowjob. The disgust he saw in his brother's and especially his father's eyes hit him hard. Ry knew his family is homophobic, so he always hid it from them until this incident. His father Wilhelm threw words at Ry no one wishes to hear and he beat the shit out of him (with Ryder countering for the very first time which gained Wilhelm a blue eye) including trying to make his son straight again ordering a female corpo JoyToy for him. He broke his own son to a certain point where Ryder questioned his own existence. Luckily for us all he clung a lot to his own life. Voyeurism is part of being in dark rooms. Others can watch. You don't know each other anyway and everyone is there for the same reason so Ryder does not care in this case. The only thing he doesn't like is when a third person or more wants to join in, because Ry just prefers one on one. Some booths have the option to lock from inside so he prefers to go into one of them. Otherwise he just bares his teeth while he looks intimidating enough to tell you that he's currently the only one allowed to fuck the guy in front of him and if you dare to touch him, well … see what happens. Not that he goes berserk in there, but he's … been kicked out of a dark room/club in the end a few times for being rather inappropriate in his reaction. Some people out there in the different places around the world don’t have access and some don’t have full access to social media, the internet, and new technology that we netizens have; the reasons might be due to their economy, state of their country, or region and their current technology. But this doesn’t mean those people don’t have some knowledge about those literacies, some regions don’t have full access or are limited to those things but they still practice and learn how to utilize those new technologies. There is a video on Youtube where a teacher is teaching his students how to use Microsoft Word using a sketch of its navigation or a Microsoft Word Window on the blackboard because they don’t have access to computers. This only shows that even they don’t have access to such technologies they still find ways to learn about them. This means even though there is a difference between countries or regions in terms of its accessibility because of their different problems and difficulties but we people who nearly has full access to social media, the internet, and new technology have to be responsible users by helping and respecting each other in the cyberspace. Juni Cortez is a Callous Little Fool

In Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Juni Cortez, retired kid superspy, learns his sister Carmen is held captive by the Toymaker, an evil ex-operative banished to cyberspace. To save Carmen and stop the Toymaker’s schemes, he enters the Toymaker’s game, the mega-popular virtual-reality video game Game Over.

When Juni enters the game, he meets three beta testers: cool guy Rez, smart guy Francis, and tough, strong guy Arnold, who eventually choose to help him upon believing he’s “The Guy”, a figure who can help them reach the supposedly unwinnable final level of the game. Later on, the OSS, a superspy agency, offers to send in one person to help him. Juni chooses his grandpa (Valentin), once a superspy himself who had been paraplegic and wheelchair-bound for 30 years. The recurring opponent Demetra later joins their group, evasively offering her “intuition” along with the others’ brains, coolness, and strength.

But when he meets Rez, Francis, and Arnold in the “real world” near the end of the film, they don’t look as they do in the game. To this, Juni looks at them scornfully and says, "Reality check.”

Evidence

Very soon after Valentin enters the game, he gets a power-up, “Mega Legs”, which not only restores his long-lost ability to walk, but gives him incredible jumping ability and a shiny, armor-covered superheroic physique. Valentin’s great strength and mobility prove very handy for Juni and the group, and Juni turns to him for advice multiple times.

Near the end of the game, Valentin is reluctant to leave for the real world. In Game Over, he can walk and run, and Juni looks at him like he's "some kind of super hero", but in the real world, he'll be confined to a wheelchair. He agrees to go back in Juni promises him he'll look at Valentin no differently than in the game, for, even though he'll be in a wheelchair, on the inside Valentin feels like "this" (presumably a superheroic figure).

Section 2: Programmers

One level, the group knows some programmers are around; Francis describes them as "the braniacs who wrote the book for the game". As they’ll bounce them back to Level 1 to catch them as a consequence of earlier cheating, the group scatters to avoid them. However, they find Juni after he and Demetra consult a forbidden map of the whole game. The programmers menacingly taunt Juni, instantly making him lose one of his lives as they taunt him. Scared, Juni calls out for his grandpa:

Programmers: "Listen to that, E-Dawg. 'The Guy' is calling his grandpa.[Sarcastically] I'm so scared." "What's he gonna do? Drool on us?" (Valentin dramatically steps in from behind and picks them up by the scruffs of their necks) Valentin: "You are programmers? Let's see what you really look like."

Francis scans them to reveal their real appearances, showing 1980s-Microsoft-employee-style dorks. Valentin deems them "very unimpressive" and Rez snarkily calls them "computer nerds".1

Section 3: Demetra

Demetra was Juni’s opponent in a robot arena, and later tried to stop him, twice, in the Mega Race. (i.e., the world’s most intense game of Virtual Reality Mario Kart) Later, she joins the group, offering her “intuition”. When one of the game’s challenges pit Juni and Arnold against each other for the group to progress, with the loser being removed from the game, Juni fares poorly. Demetra swaps herself with Juni, sacrificing herself so Juni can go rescue his sister.

The beta testers try to “kill” (make him lose all his game lives) Juni and his sister, out of the belief Juni is “The Deceiver”, a figure in the game who tricks players and keeps them from getting to Level 5 and its “untold riches”. When they change their minds and enter Level 5, Demetra soon re-appears. Carmen confidently states Demetra isn’t real, slicing through her to expose her as just a hologram. She’s the Deceiver, an AI whose purpose was to hinder them. Juni doesn’t share Carmen’s scorn. It turns out Demetra had developed a crush on Juni, and helps them all to escape as the Toymaker tries to trap them in the game.

Juni Cortez Neglecting the Evidence

In the real world, the spy agency tracks down Rez, Francis, and Arnold from their email addresses and brings them in front of Juni. Juni still looks pretty cool as pudgy-faced preteens go, but, shockingly, the beta testers look nothing like they do in real life. Francis has no glasses and has a biker jacket, Rez looks like a 1980s Microsoft-employee-style dork, and Arnold has glasses.

Juni: “What happened to Francis the Brain, Arnold the Strong, and Mr. Cool?” Francis: “Well, in the real world, I'm not that smart.” Arnold: “I'm not strong." Rez: “I’m not cool.”

To this, Juni just looks at them with an expression that morphs from shock, to bafflement, and then scorn, and dissmissively says: "Reality check." (When his grandpa is within earshot, no less)

One might want to cut Juni some slack; he's 12, at most. Yet, Juni Cortez says this even though he’s seen Francis being smart (reading through the tech manual and reporting on it), Arnold being strong (catapulting another player out of a car, attacking him, being acknowledged as the “strongest player”) and Rez being cool. (being unflappable and leading the other two) Worse, he says this despite knowing Demetra was more than her programming...and despite just having promised his grandpa he would look at him no differently in the real world even when confined to a wheelchair.

Admittedly, they did try to “kill” (in a video game sense) him and Carmen before reaching Level 5, out of the belief Juni was The Deceiver. They were also initially unfriendly to him, telling him to get to the next level in a way that was effective but made him lose a life, and only agreed to follow him and help him upon proving he was “The Guy” in the very dangerous Mega Race. On the other hand, the previous film shows he already holds his grandpa in high regard, and though Demetra was twice his opponent, her actions weren’t any worse than someone showing off skill in a competitive video game. (e.g., Mario Kart or Street Fighter)

Valentin’s reluctance to leave Game Over parallels that of a real person: Ibelin Redmoore. (or, rather, Mats Steen).2 Mats Steen had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a fatal genetic disorder that rendered him slumping, atrophied, and wheelchair-bound, a la the physicist Stephen Hawking. He found solace in the massively multi-player game World of Warcraft, where everyone saw him as his avatar/alter-ego, the handsome detective nobleman Ibelin Redmoore.

A friend of his in World of Warcraft, Kai Simon, said at his funeral:

"I met Mats in a world where it doesn't matter a bit who you are, what kind of body you have, or how you look in reality, behind the keyboard.”

Had Juni known Ibelin Redmoore...what would he have said?

(Trivia: Originally, I was going to write something about Spy Kids 3D, appropos of nothing, as an April Fool's Day joke earlier this year. This is just the rewritten version of the nearly-complete joke update.)

Which, in retrospect, is a ridiculous thing to say. He and the others love video games so much they're beta testers for a new virtual-reality video game in 2003, before video games were as "mainstream" and respected as they are now. Indeed, one could call Francis a nerd for his brainy mannerisms and glasses. 2AM Thoughts

1. Everyone says to write about what scares you & I guess that makes sense because that’s when you’re your most honest, but that is also like giving your enemies/opponents/the world a list of all of your weaknesses & the different ways to defeat you. 

2. I mean, I guess if you’re a writer, it is also a strength. People like people they can relate to. We’re all vulnerable, some of us just solidify it in a novel, or send it out into cyberspace for all the world to see. 

3. I never feel like I am doing enough. 

4.  I love poetry & meeting new people at slams, events, competitions, but hate feeling disconnected from them as soon as the poem is over. We can share our deepest secrets with one another for an uninterrupted 3 minutes, but can barely get past 2 minutes of small talk without using the same compliment twice & smiling viciously at each other while scanning for the nearest exit.

7. There is so much reading to do. I wish I could just touch a book & absorb all of the knowledge.

19. I used to categorize people by how much emotion & logic I’d think they’d have. I know humans are COMPLEX or whatever, but I still think this is a pretty reliable way to see how compatible you are with others & at least have a grasp on their way of thinking.

I can see your point with some of this, yes people can be downright ugly in every way possible. You might need to clarify the useless one a bit more tho. Cause on many occasions i have felt this way. Still do in fact, for many reasons. See, i think some people may fall into grey areas in all this. Mostly matter of opinion, much like the entire comment. Often the ones who feel the most useless are the ones who have been neglected my much of mainstream society. Friends, family and just the general world have given up on them so they feel nothing matters. Love may still exist somewhere in there. Not enough to justify a healthy existence though.  Many people turn to drugs or other vices to help them cope with this. Very easy to do when left alone. Its not really any one persons fault though. They just haven't found the right people who will appreciate them and support them. You have a very fortunate position in life @Aurormusic. One that many often dream of and work hard at but never reach this level. Sure you have the ones who dont put in the work but most often the truely passionate will put it down solid. Sure many at certain stages either think about death or even fully go through with it. I know i have, many times. Still baffles me as to why i still try. I know this world isnt cut out for everyone. never gonna tell me different. Just have to tough it out and find something that keeps you going. For me i guess its a combination of things. The very thought of not having put in enough work or sticking it out just long enough to see some results. Also music and Jehovah have been their for most of it. Random fact about me for those who have read this long. I have a dream of helping people find the truth. Used to fantasize helping others find God or the true meaning of Gods purpose.  Cause ultimately i want as many people to live to see his REAL world as possible. All of this is just an illusion, Satan is a real entity and does have major influence on people in this world. The evidence is staggering, but to those in bubbles of comfort they only see what they want to see. So in the long run my dream will probly not come true. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth

Hello, sorry for the late review; it’s been a busy week so I haven’t been able to work much. Don’t worry however, the last review of the month will still come out later this week. I have more time to work so there shouldn’t be any problems.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is a new title in the Digimon series that was released for the Playstation 4 and Vita back in 2015; It’s a turn based RPG where you must utilize the Digimon at your disposal to uncover the mystery behind a vast online world. That aside it’s time for a history lesson; Digimon has been around since the late nineteen nineties. It started as a small handheld devise each with it’s own virtual pet, much like the toys known as tamagotchi’s. Over time Digimon grew in popularity and branched out; anime, video games, movies, you name it. To this day Digimon is still growing; however it’s not as prominent in america as it is in Japan. Pokemon came out on top over Digimon a good few years ago; that doesn’t mean the series is bad though. Sure it’s had it’s fair share of ups and downs but there are a lot of great things about the Digimon franchise that Pokemon can’t compete with. That being said, where exactly does this franchise fall for me? It’s been years since I’ve touched anything Digimon related; well after giving it thought I like Digimon. There are many reason’s why but we didn’t come here to debate my stance on two different franchises; instead I’ll give you an idea of why I like Digimon through the game. To start out let’s look at Cyber Sleuth’s story and work our way through.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth centers around your character, be it a boy or girl, trying to unravel the mysteries around an online community known as Eden. Digimon are an urban legend said to be the tools of hackers; little does our band of heroes know is that Digimon are as real as you and me. One day while chatting with your friends in a random chat room the mascot of Eden invites all those willing to partake in a little surprise; however, that surprise happens to be the infamous hacking tool known as Digimon Capture. You are given this without your consent and are thus turned into hackers; not only this but an unknown entity called the Eaters are attacking people in Eden, and one just so happens to attack you. Now you’re having a literal out of body experience as your data roams around the real world. A lot to take in? well that’s only a fraction of what’s in store. So with that you must recover your body, stop the eaters, and find out what exactly is happening in cyberspace; all with the help of some peculiar characters and your trusty Digimon.

Cyber Sleuth is both your average Digimon story, and at some points a very mature story. If you aren’t familiar with a Digimon story, usually the premise is that some form of evil is threatening both the human world and the digital world. Due to this it’s up to the destined children to fight alongside the Digimon to save the world. Now as for the games mature elements; I can’t say anything in terms of the games main story because that would be an extreme spoiler, but the side stories I can delve into. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth has many side missions; each with it’s own little story to them. The stories of these missions don’t influence the main story in anyway, but they’re still really well done stories all the same. The stories range from comedic to mature and emotional; one of my favorites involves a kid who has found a friend through an online chat site. The kids mother is scared that this person her son is talking to is dangerous and influencing her son. You go through and find out that the person is actually a Digimon and all they want is to be the boys friend. Through this you find out that the boy is living a troubled life; he feels that he isn’t close with his family and he has problems with school. The boy is able to confide in the Digimon about his problems in life but no matter how much he tells it never mends the wounds. This is one of many really well done side stories in the game; their small and only span one mission but the content they bring is still really great and make the side missions worth completing. Overall the story has something for everyone; it supply’s a nice story for the kid demographic, but at the same time provides a mature and even sometimes dark story that adults can get behind. Now what about the characters; well nineties kids like me will be at home with characters like these.

Cyber Sleuth is a very familiar feeling for those who grew up with it; not only do you see a lot of your favorite Digimon; but the main characters feel at home in the environment their set in. You have your main heroic character, your mysterious character who wishes to fix a past wrong, and your quirky yet sometimes ditsy character. Though this only covers three out of many of the main group. My favorite character in terms of development is the quirky one Nokia Shiramine.

Nokia, pictured above, goes from being absolutely frightened of the whole idea of hackers and Digimon; to a leader of many in the goal of equality. She could have been a dull uninteresting character that kept her distance due to the Digimon, but instead after a fated meeting with two very iconic characters she found a new resolve. Now development only extends to supporting characters and the main cast that isn’t you; you are a semi-silent protagonist. You’re character, be them boy or girl, are not voiced by someone (outside of a fight) but you have dialogue options. These dialogue options don’t actually change any sort of personality but basically it’s how you see yourself situation so there isn’t really any development for you; however the rest of the cast develops really well, some in good directions and others in bad directions. I love the characters but there is one problem that kind of bugged me as I was playing; the game, regardless of what gender you choose, tends to word things as if you are playing a boy. I played the girl character because I like design a little more than the boys; however, when talking with npc’s and some main encounters, people will address me as he or use some sort of dialogue that isn’t fitting for a girl character. It’s a small thing but it happens a lot and it catches you off guard. Another small problem I have is the choices in voice work; the voice actors did a great job but there were some times I wish there were some changes. Specifically in the Digimon, throughout the game you’ll interact with Digimon; be it in side missions or main story Digimon. However, the voice actor for those Digimon don’t also voice said Digimon.

Let’s use Omegamon, pictured above, as our example. If there is an Omegamon that speaks Japanese in the game, it is only that one Omegamon that does this. I had an Omegamon in my party end game and it had one of a few place holder sounds when it attacked; instead of having the same voice used as an Omegamon that I fought with or talked with in scenes. I know this is probably to show that this specific Omegamon is unique but I’d like it to be consistent, but overall it’s a small issue to have. Overall I love the cast of Cyber Sleuth; their lovable, are developed well over the time of the game, and also have a air of maturity or dark presence depending on the character.

Cyber Sleuth is quite the site for what the game is; usually when it comes to games with a near modern day setting you find yourself in everyday Japan. It’s no different here but that only accommodates the human half of the Digimon franchise; so we need a digital space for the Digimon to occupy. Seeing little strips of Japan is fine; like going to a small area of Akihabara is always fun but a lot of Japanese titles do it these days. Though what about a combination of the two?

From the image above we find ourselves in a subway station, but as we can see it’s starting to deteriorate or in this sense digitize. I won’t say why due to heavy story reasons but these regions were always my favorite. It was a melding of two worlds into one, or so it was said; in my opinion it seemed more like the human world was being devoured by the digital. Things started to change or distort and Digimon were able to manifest outside of a digital space. It really provided the feeling of a dungeon; much like the dungeons in a persona game. The same could be said for areas inside Eden as well

This is the entrance to one of the main dungeon areas known as Kowloon, and one of the first things you see in the game. It plays a heavy part in the over all story and is now home to the hacker community. Right now it paints a very eerie picture but when you see it’s later significance it hits pretty hard. However the picture can only show so much; to get the true feeling behind what Kowloon is animation is needed. As for the music, the composer for Cyber Sleuth was  Masafumi Takada; Masafumi has worked on countless video game soundtracks over the years. One of his more recent ones, other than this, was the Dangan Ronpa series which can be heard a little in this. The title screen theme especially sounds like it could have been in Danganronpa.

Composer and other works aside, the soundtrack for Cyber Sleuth is great; it’s fast paced, energetic, and at some points very odd. A few really stand out for me, including the main theme, but for now here are some of my favorites.

Overall the game looks nice and the music is perfect for a JRPG such as this. Now we come to one of the quintessential things a turn based rpg can have, it’s gameplay.

Cyber Sleuth is by all means a traditional turn based RPG; it’s not active like old final fantasy games where you can see the meter fill, but instead takes the stats of both you and your opponent and places your turns based on your speed. If you go back up to the picture before with MetalGreymon you’ll see the bar on the right side of the picture. Each person can have up to three Digimon on their team at one time and can have nine more on reserve; One the side bar, any Digimon with a blue outline are yours. Red is the enemy, and green are guest fighters on your side.This bar stays their through the fight and will shift depending on speed or buffs the character may have used; pretty standard right? There are also type advantages; however for Digimon there are two different types. You have elemental advantage where fire beats grass, and type advantage; Digimon have three distinct types. If a Digimon isn’t neutral they are either a vaccine type, virus, or data; neutral will take normal damage from all types, while the other three follow a rock paper scissors idea. Vaccine beats virus, virus to data, and data to vaccine; however, to get the most optimal result you need to keep both advantages in mind. Other than that you’ll need to know the ailments your Digimon can get in battle; they’re generally the same as in other RPG’s but some are under a different name to fit the game. The gameplay is fun for not only Digimon fans but those who may not know a lot of the series as well; it’s been years since I last did anything with the franchise and I had a blast playing this game.

Now the hardest part comes from evolving you Digimon. The game doesn’t flat out tell you that evolving and de-evolving your crew is what you should do. You can get far with just normal evolution but eventually you’ll hit a snag; you need a specific stat to evolve into the much later levels. One stat being ABI; to get this stat you either need a food source that gives it, though those are limited, or you need to evolve and then revert back your Digimon. A lot of the Digimon only need twenty ABI to evolve, but there are a few that need as much as eighty and those ones are well worth the time. Lastly I took the time to Platinum the game; it’s a relatively easy thing to do, but there are some things that I could live without. There are two trophies that come to mind; win thirty online battles, and collect every Digimon medal. The online battles aren’t to bad; even if no one is playing online the game will pit you against AI. Through this even if the online dies you can still get the trophy, but the Online has a couple problems. As for the medals, start early; if you plan to get all five hundred medal don’t wait like I did. Pull up a guide to for these things; some medals drop from enemies but you can’t get them all that way. Most of the medals are in Gacha machines around the game and you will sit there for hours trying to get them all. Each one has thirty different medals so once you get thirty that one machine is done. Other medals you get through missions and fetch quests, but these fetch quests become hard to obtain the farther in you get because specific Digimon are tied to dungeon areas. Overall the gameplay is great but for completionist you may have a hard time so go in prepared.

Overall I give Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth an 8 out of 10; it has it’s problems, some smaller than others, but overall it’s an amazing JRPG. It’s mature at times but still sticks to the intended demographic. The music is amazing, the gameplay fun and engaging and the characters develop well while at the same time staying true to the franchise. I recommend this game to those looking for something different while at the same time wanting that turn based RPG that everyone for some reason wants to lay to rest.

Wisdom Eight                                        BECOMING SOCIAL MEDIA WISE S - Societal  O- Obsession C – Constantly I – Influencing + A – Affecting L – Lives M – Making E – Entertainment D – Distractingly I – Interesting A – Always. When the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. This is what comes to mind, when I think of social media and its effects on youths. Please don’t get me wrong, social media has been greatly useful in so many ways. With social media we are able to socialize, listen, watch, download our choice music and videos, share beautiful pictures and communicate with our family, friends regardless of the distance. We study and conduct researches, pay bills, get information via Google, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, etc. So no doubt, social media as enabled by internet has been profitable. A little more about its benefits; we are able to purchase, sell and make our brand and product more popular through it. We find jobs on social media. Some have found love and marriage through it. It has equally made public servants a bit cautious and responsible especially those in political positions in developed countries. Well, so many people believe it’s one of the best things that have happened in our generation. According to Rex Cleanus, “It is the voyage that modernity rides on to safe landing”. Even though social media is important, it could be abused when we don’t priorities adequately. We need to be cautious, when on social media, it can be addictive. It can make you become who you never thought you would be. I don’t follow most celebrities because sometimes they get petty, they talk without caution. They vent out on anybody that does not seem to agree with them. I don’t want to be like that, ‘so why should I follow’? If you follow celebrities on social media platforms without caution, you might begin to feel they have everything the world has to offer. Before the emergence of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, snapchat, etc life was simple and people where a bit more respectful, accommodating and purposeful. When smartphones were introduced some youths lost self-control. Young girls were ready to do anything for anyone that offers to get them a smart phone especially here in Africa. Yes! Smart phones, pads and other devices accessing social media platforms have come to dominate our world. We have no choice but to become social media wise. What happens if you’re not social Media-wise? Waste of Time Social media can consume more than a quarter of your time. An average person has three to five social media accounts and spends around 1 hour, 40 minutes browsing these networks every day on average of about 45 hours per week. It is disturbing to know that teenagers live in this massive 24/7 digital media technology space without proper guidance. Note that some youths spend about 9 hours on social media each day and it’s not for making researches or for assignments but on their social-media handles. This is totally a waste of time, one that ought to be curtailed. Some teenagers have lost focus; they don’t even have a clue of what lies within and ahead. I’m talking about people that should be world-class inventors, creative directors, professional athletes, authors, producers, entrepreneurs, etc rather they’ve spent their valuable time surfing aimlessly on social media.  You might think you have your life all figured out, wait until you start paying more attention to your set goals. You’ll realize that greater innovative advancement is gained, more skill acquired, the vision becomes even more clearer and your approach more direct and productive. Therefore, allow productive task swallow up your time. I always ask young people what they would like to do after school, and they often tell me, actress, actor, social media influencer, PR, music artists, comedians. Yeah! They’re all interesting professions and do attract popularity. Although I’m persuaded to believe that the time they spend on social media is having effect on their choices and dreams. They are mostly influenced by those celebrities that show off constantly on social media. So they love the glamour and do think of living such lives. It is all about the smartphone camera and the fame pursuit. ‘9 hours on social media for a young lady’? Please how and where will she learn the basic virtues that will make her a successful career woman, a good wife and mum? I asked a 16 year old girl that came to stay in my home to make pap (Nigeria corn meal made from wet corn starch) for my kids; she told me boldly, she doesn’t know how to do it. I was shocked, but then I realized why. Although she stayed briefly with me, I realized she literally lived in the digital space. She spends the whole day petty-chatting online. Before this social media obsession teenagers knew what they were supposed to know, they took proper care of their families but today, most teenagers have become pros at managing their social media accounts only. Some can’t go a day without thinking about the trend they might have missed. It has become an obsession for many teenagers of today.  How would a young man/woman that should be concerned with discovering his/her talent and nurturing it, succeed?  when he spends his whole day chatting and surfing the net majorly to see what celebrities are up and about to do. The social media can be deceitful for youths; don’t allow it dictate your life by becoming obsessed with it. Don’t spend your youthful age admiring other people successes while failing to build up your own career.  Now, everybody seems to live in the cyberspace. This is also one of the foundational causes of family issues; some people are no more living a real life but a fake one. You must place your priorities right. That way you will not be cut in the frenzy or drama that it propagates. You’ll be able to ride on it with purpose and safeguard yourself from falling prey to its distractions and time wasting invitation. SEXUAL EXPLOITATION You must esteem yourself and never succumb to trampling on your dignity. Social media makes it easy for you to be enticed and indulge in activities that could mess up your personality. And sometimes the damage done could be irrevocable.  A teenage girl met some men on social media, they promised to help her achieve her dream of becoming an actress. She got carried away by all their ‘sweet lies’. They invited her over and demanded she tells no one about it. They said she needed to be discreet because sometimes family and friends are obstacles that hinder dreams (aspiration). She left her town without informing anyone of her where about, the awful part been she doesn’t know anyone in the city she was going. She got there late and finally met with the men. The moment she saw them she became uneasy, but it was too late to back-out. She was ‘gang raped’ and sent back home the next day. I’m sure if she had resisted or threatened they might have killed her. Another ugly incident happened in 2012; a girl traveled from Abuja to Lagos to meet her Facebook friend. She was robbed; gang raped and was killed in a hotel room by her so called ‘Facebook friend’. In her case the damage is irrevocable because she lost her life as a result. Very sad indeed! However, these identifies with the reasons why I desire to have you well informed. So that you can afford to guide your life with pride and walk on that safe pathway.  You probably might have heard similar stories, the experiences of so many teenagers who in like manner have lost their lives or may have sustained life time scars. Another issue that falls within sexual exploitation is called sexting. Sexting is an act that some adult and teens alike engage in by sending explicit/nude photos and videos to each other for fun, some to please their partner and in some cases, they are pressured to do so. Why forward a photo, or anything in a text, that you wouldn’t want to be made public? We shall discuss more about ‘sexting’ in the next chapter. Grudge If you are not social media wise, it will be a huge part of your life and can detect your mood, countenance and shape your character. This can rear its ugly head when your friends do not reply to your messages, like your posts or comment on your photos; you feel bad and take it personal. And as a revenge tactics, when they post their photos, you see it but will ‘never’ like or comment on it. To you it’s payback time! Isn’t it funny? We existed even way before social media. At that time all conversations often took place face-to-face and people connected well. Most of the teenagers that’ll read this book grew up within the smartphones era but before then, people had friends. The difference is that; people were more committed and connected with their friends physically. While growing up, I observed how my elder sisters relate with their friends. I noticed how their faces glow each time they send or receive a letter from friends. They don’t chat on WhatsApp or Facebook with them but when they meet, they cherish every moment. Did you know they were able to communicate with everyone in their inner circle without having to constantly text or be on social media? Yes! It’s not exactly like what we have now. Today people use emojis (pictograms) that are sometimes the opposite of what they feel in reality. Don’t be a slave to these things. Social media shouldn’t make you lose control, it doesn’t matter if a friend likes your picture or not. It doesn’t matter if they fail to comment or reply your text, they are living their lives. You should not allow their actions shape or distort the wonderful person you are. Learn to resolve issues with friends by exploring reasonable alternatives. Never allow social media buzz and quest for recognition boost your anxiety and undue grudge. Depression We all have ways we handle our emotion. If you understood the first chapter of this book, you will understand this chapter effortlessly. Social media and its activities could trigger your stress hormones, for instance, you could be worried if you are going through a challenge and all you see on social media are happy people. You surf the net and all you see are people that are already where you desire to be. You see photos of your friends at exotic places having good time and they captioned it, “blessed beyond words”, “Living my best life”, “Cruising around the world”, etc. You could be going through a financial challenges and you see your friend’s pictures on social media with wads of cash and exotic cars. To top it all, they look so happy enjoying life to the fullest. This could make you feel sad and pressured. You might not feel jealous but you feel bad concerning your situation because what comes to your mind is that their lives are perfect and yours is in shambles. ‘Things are so working for them but not for you’. But it never occurred to you that everyone is packaging; no one will put up the ugly side of their lives on social media. All we see are only but a small slice, often the best slice. Possibly they had issues minutes before or after the photo, but the sweet moment is what everyone sees on social media handles. Social media can drive you into negative competition and if you don’t measure up, it could sink you into depression. This is often because of a common ‘deceitful’ perception that everyone is done sorting out their lives and you’re the only one still struggling. You must come to terms with the truth that there are lots of people in this world whom you think they know how but in reality have no clue concerning how to build an organized and meaningful life.  Stay alert, keep away from the bad folks, work a little harder to find your path and associate with ‘the good people’ who can help you grow, develop and create a life worthy of emulation.  Influence Social media is a platform that has influenced a lot of people. You can’t afford to follow what you see celebrities do blindly. You should have the discerning ability to separate the wheat from the chaff. Some updates written on social media platforms that are presented to be facts are not. The vast majority are just opinions and personal views. Believe me; those people might be clueless or less informed about the issue. They might not know as much as you think they do. The choices you make as you surf the internet could shape your life. Be prudent and watchful to avoid the footsteps that lead to destructive end. Distraction I was in a church one day and while the sermon was going on, I noticed some teenagers were busy surfing the internet. I wasn’t particularly surprised at all. Over time I’ve come to realize how interestingly distracting social media has become. We ought to prioritize by not letting less important things distract us from the more important things. Social media can distract one from ‘more needful’ things such as having quality time with family. It can make you pay less attention to studies. Remember that inner voice (intuition) that wants to help you discover and explore opportunities? How do you hear such a ‘voice’ when you are so distracted by social media? Don’t forget we are discussing about distraction as a means through which social media usurp our self-control. Therefore, we need to remain sensitive and checkmate our social media related activities, invest more time in productive venture and less time on social handles. Bragging You were thought to always ‘do good’ and not let your right hand know what you do for charity. Well! Social media says; ‘hell no’! ‘Take some pictures so your friends will know you visited the orphanage home.’  One of the attractions promoted on social media handles is showy display of one’s means of life. Showy display is often motivated by the intent to brag. Those who do are often cut up with the burden to show off more in other to remain relevant. The intent to brag on social media says; “take beautiful pictures tell them that you are not in the country”. It says; “they need to know you achieved this and you achieved that already’. The idea is often to showcase. So as a pastor they need to know your church is growing massively. As a business man they need to know you’re making so much money, travelling around the world. As a celebrity, they need to know you’re very rich, has state of the art cars, mansions and holidays in best beach resorts of the world. Somehow bragging has got its wings rooted on social media. If we are to do the same thing we do on social media in real life. It will be a situation like this: You make a large picture frame of you or your family in exotic place. You go around the neighborhood with it lifted up above your head, screaming; “Miami Beach USA was on point, nice time with my family. Neighbors come out to see the photo; it’s an amazing photo that depicts the luxury we all enjoyed while in Miami Beach”. It could also be a situation like this: You prepared a delicious meal and took it round the neighborhood screaming; “See what I’m having for dinner, it looks and tastes delicious. I’m having the best meal ever”. It will amount to one displaying all his awards on the street for people to see and applaud. Sounds ridiculous right? Yeah! I thought as much. Why would anyone post nudes on social media and cover up in reality. For me, it’s like living a double life. Social media is a beautiful thing as I’ve noted earlier, everything has been made so easy with it. I mean you can learn anything, just about anything on the internet through, Google, YouTube, etc. You can learn how to bake, how to be a public speaker, even how to speak other languages. You can even study a degree/certificate course through the internet. I enjoy all these benefits; I love the fact that studying and researches are a lot easier now, unlike the days with no internet. Being social media wise is vital for total management of your time and prevention of acts that promote bragging.  Cyber bullying Cyber bullying is not good at all. The people on the internet are humans with emotions, blood runs through their veins, they read what you say and they get hurt because you don’t have a clue of what they have been through and who they are. It is sad when one comes on social media to mock and say something derogatory about another, especially when such information is false. Such an act could break you, so why break others? Becoming social-media wise makes you moderate and considerate individual. When you are social-media wise you find it strange using the platform to display flamboyance and lavish lifestyle. This is one of the reasons why there is increase in crime. You ought to live life intentionally with fairness and virtue as bedrock.  You can ask yourself some vital questions to know where you stand; 1. How long do you spend on social media? 2. What do you do most times when you are on social media? 3. Does it encroach the more needful; like school work, home chores, communication with your family?  4. Would you be proud of your posts in the next ten years? 5. How would you want your children and grandchildren to see you when they search for those posts or check up your social media handles? 7. The people you follow on social media, how impactful have they been? 8. The celebrities you follow on social media, how do they react to criticism? Do you react to issues in similar fashion?  9. Do you have the power to abstain from social media for a while?  10. How do you think you can become social media wise? Quite frankly, you are better off not emailing it at all, because it usually just goes into cyberspace, and then it is all about the hiring company - but unfortunately, besides not sending it at all, sometimes that is your only choice. You have no other option than to wait and wonder. And half the time it is going to HR or an admin department to be scanned into an electronic database.

If you know the company, call and ask if they prefer email, fax, or snail mail. I know a recruiter who never even opened his email. Because he was listed in The Kennedy Guide to Executive Recruiters, he received so many resumes emailed to him cold (so NOT proactive) that he just did a mass delete every morning. Candidates contacted for a specific search were requested to snail mail their resume to him. How about that? I will bet less than 10% of those who emailed their resumes even bothered to follow up to see if it was received, this is not a numbers game.

#13. RESUME VISUALS

Ivory paper. Black ink. Individual pages. No plastic, 7th grade, science report cover with the plastic slider or metal push down tabs. Your name centered at the top, not on a cover page that says "Introducing Clifton Lewis Montgomery III". No exceptions. Your resume is a professional document, not a school book report or an art project.  Until every resume is done this way, yours will still stand out in the crowd.
