Obesity Limit by Age 2023

Obesity Limit by Age 2023
For a healthy life, the body weight must be within the limits suitable for the body mass index. As the person moves away from healthy values, the risk of disease increases and the comfort of life decreases, regardless of age. Obesity is the disease of the age with increasing fast-food style nutrition and decreasing movement around the world. Increasing fast-food consumption increases lubrication and causes the person’s body weight to be outside the limits that should be according to height and age. Adults and children who have reached the point of obesity should be treated as soon as possible. You ask, “How many kilos is the obesity limit for age?” If you are wondering the answer to the question, you can take a look at the details.
What is Obesity? What Weight Does Obesity Start From?
Obesity is the accumulation of too much fat in the body to affect the metabolism. A person is considered obese if their weight is higher than their body area. The Body Mass Index value is used to determine obesity in adults. This value, which is calculated by dividing the body weight by the square of the height in centimeters, indicates obesity when it is 30 kg/m2 and above. Obesity can be evaluated not as weight, but by the ratio of the weight to the height of the person. In children, obesity is calculated with standard growth charts, not BMI. In order to find the obesity value, the child’s age and height are found from the chart and it is checked at what age the height corresponds to the 50p value. From the age-based weight chart opened for the age reached, the percentile of the weight for the age, that is, the p value, is checked.
Obesity Values in Children
Obesity age and weight limit in children is not the same as in adults. Height, weight, and body mass index charts for boys and girls vary in children. Obesity in children can be understood with two methods. The first method is to find the p value of the body mass index according to age by opening the BMI percentile scale for age after the body mass index is calculated. If the value is 95p and above, obesity is considered. The second method is calculated over the weight value according to the height age. Obesity is considered to be 97p and above when looking at the weight according to the height and age of 95p and above. With this method, the following steps can be followed for obesity calculation:
The age-height percentile chart is opened according to the gender of the child.
The age at which the height corresponds to the value of 50p is found and noted.
The age found is the age of height.
The weight percentile chart is opened according to the age of the child.
The age of height is found and it is noted which p-value corresponds to the weight.
If the result is 97p or higher, it is considered obesity and an expert opinion is required.
Obesity Values in Adolescents
It would be wrong to ask the question of what is the obesity weight limit in adolescents as in children. According to the World Health Organization, adolescence covers the ages of 10-19. Obesity in adolescents is calculated as in children, and the accepted values for obesity are as follows:
95p and above in boys based on BMI:
10 years: 22.5 kg/m2
11 years: 24.5 kg/m2
12 years: 26.0 kg/m2
13 years: 26.5 kg/m2
14 years: 27.0 kg/m2
15 years: 27.6 kg/m2
16 years: 28.2 kg/m2
17 years: 28.8 kg/m2
18 years: 29.4 kg/m2
For girls, 95p and above based on BMI:
10 years: 22.6 kg/m2
11 years: 23.8 kg/m2
12 years: 24.8 kg/m2
13 years: 25.4 kg/m2
14 years: 25.8 kg/m2
15 years: 26.0 kg/m2
16 years: 26.1 kg/m2
17 years: 26.2 kg/m2
18 years: 26.1 kg/m2
Obesity Values in Adults
Those with a body mass index of 30 and above are considered obese. But obesity is also divided into levels within itself. 30-34.99 kg/m2 BMI indicates 1st degree obesity, 35-39.99 kg/m2 BMI indicates 2nd degree obesity, and 40 kg/m2 and above BMI indicates 3rd degree obesity. As the obesity value increases, the risk of disease also increases. It can cause heart diseases, stroke, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, gallbladder diseases, sleep apnea, calcifications. The treatment of the resulting health problems becomes even more difficult in obesity.
Risk of Obesity-Related Disease Occurrence in Adults
While measuring the risk for health in obesity, waist circumference and hip circumference are taken into account. A waist circumference of 88 cm or more in women and a waist circumference of 102 cm or more in men means that weight is risky for health. Another risk factor indicator is the waist to hip ratio. If waist/hip is more than 0.85 in women and more than 1.0 in men, it means android type, that is, male type obesity. Android type obesity increases the risk of developing diseases and reduces the chance of treatment.
What are Obesity Treatment Methods?
Fat loss is the basis of obesity treatment. For fat loss, the person needs to get rid of the excess weight in his body. Vital changes such as increasing physical activity, reducing calorie intake, and choosing healthy foods help weight loss, but sometimes these methods alone are not enough in obesity. The methods applied by the person himself may prolong the process or fail. Various methods can be used for weight loss, but these methods must be selected and applied by specialist physicians and dietitians. Methods applied by experts include diets and bariatric surgery. The method to be used is determined according to the person and the most appropriate method is selected according to the needs of the person by making appropriate analyzes by the specialist doctor staff.
Weight Loss with a Healthy Eating Plan
One of the most used obesity treatment methods is healthy nutrition lists applied with a dietitian. With diets, weight loss of 5% to 10% of the initial weight is expected within 6 months. By creating calorie deficits in nutrition plans, the weight loss process begins with exercise support. It is possible to lose weight slowly and healthily with the diet lists given to the person. However, diet can be a difficult and motivational method for some people. In such people, if the doctor deems it appropriate, obesity surgery is directed.
Bariatric Surgery
Weight loss is achieved through surgery in people with serious health problems who cannot diet or cannot achieve the desired result with obesity surgery . The surgical method applied is gastric bypass surgery. With this surgical procedure, also known as Roux-en-Y, the stomach is surgically reduced, but while food intake is reduced, nutrient absorption from the intestines is also reduced. Gastric bypass is divided into types in itself. One of them is sleeve gastrectomy , also known as sleeve gastrectomy. Thanks to bariatric surgery, the person loses 75% of their weight within 1 year after the operation, and thanks to the shrinking stomach volume, they gain early satiety and gains in some diseases thanks to the weight they lose.
The problem of obesity, which carries a health risk, is a disease that is increasing day by day and treatment methods are developing. By finding the appropriate treatment method, plans should be created according to the person and it should be ensured that the person regains his/her health in the most correct way. Obesity can occur not only in adulthood but also in childhood and adolescence. It is wrong to believe that children will get weaker as they get older. If obesity is present at an early age, it is important to consult a specialist and start the treatment with the most appropriate method when treatment is necessary in order to prevent health risks that may occur in the future of children.
Medical Park, with its 27 hospitals in Turkey, helps people in the treatment of obesity and treats obesity patients with advanced surgical and medical methods. If you think you or your child has an obesity problem, you can make an appointment and be examined.

hot take apparently, but obesity in people and obesity in pets are two completely different things.
if you're fat, it's whatever. it's your body and your life, do what you want and what makes you happy.
if your pet is objectively fat, it's not healthy. it takes a toll on their joints and spine. arthritis in animals is a real thing. it hurts them, and being obese only makes matters worse. if they eat, and eat, and eat, they can't regulate what's good for them. so it's YOUR job to be responsible about it instead of going, "my pet is healthy and happy."
dude. you're killing your pet. you shorten their lifespan (and their lifespan is already short compared to humans). it's not the right thing to do. love is not always giving them what they want because sometimes what they want can seriously hurt them.
stop glorifying pets being obese. it's not cute, it's dangerous.
#animal#pets#text#I'm so tired of seeing that one acc#and people glorifying a pet that is OBVIOUSLY way too fat for his own size and body#that's not how it's supposed to be!!#cat#dog

As a fat person with a metabolic issue: no, it is not okay to consciously CHOOSE to be fat, you are CHOOSING to put your own health at risk, you are CHOOSING to shorten your lifespan, CHOOSING to limit your mobility and quality of life. You can deny these things all you want, they are medically studied and proven facts. Perhaps most of all, you are CHOOSING to feed into the societal view that fat people are simply lazy and don’t care about their health or wellbeing. Being obese is a risk to your health, your lifespan, and your overall mobility and quality of life, no matter what people claim. Would you say it was okay for someone to CHOOSE to be anorexic? Would you choose to be diabetic? Fat is not a fucking fetish. Obesity is a chronic illness.
as a fat person with a metabolic issue and common sense: its sad that you feel so negatively about yourself. your self hatred will not make people treat you better and it will not heal you.
anyway, its okay for people to choose how to live their lives, including fat people. like, duh. it is a chronic illness to believe that you should have control over the actions of other people, i think. it is okay to be fat, always has been, always will be 💕

Here's the reality of obesity, and what they don't talk about in the "fat acceptance" movement. It's not even that you've chosen to shorten your life and have negative health outcomes for yourself. You've chosen to make yourself a liability, a liability that can kill the people around you, whether it's an evacuation in a building, a medical emergency, or your kid's stroller rolling into traffic, you aren't equipped to help anyone around you. You're going to have to get help most of the time, whether it's children, the elderly, the disabled you aren't there for them when you could be. You won't grow old to baby-sit your grandkids, you won't be able to hold them up and carry them around the zoo. You can't help a hurt person out of a car wreck. You can't restrain a dog that snaps at a child. You have opted yourself out being an asset in an emergency or of physically assisting the people around you. You expect your homes, cars, offices, restaurants, food, and stores to be built, maintained, stocked, and staffed but it could never all be done by a world of people like you. You rely on everyone else to make you comfortable, you're an aberration of 1st world comfort, and "accepting" that the majority of people can and should be obese consigns us to a state of dependency and decay. A standard in which the diminishing class of the able-bodied are made to provide for the disabled-by-choice at the expense of the truly disabled, the elderly, the children that really need all of us.

Do you think you could give your opinions on the recessive / lethal yellow genes in mice? Do you think you'd ever consider breeding recessive yellow? (If you haven't already.) I'm just super curious about your thoughts on them as I don't really know a lot about genetics. Do you think it's possible to breed a consistently healthy line of yellow mice? I'm just super curious to hear your thoughts as a breeder
Well, this is a kind of long answer and I'll warn it discusses animal death, so I'll put it behind a cut.
Personally, I wouldn't, but not because of ethics concerns; I just don't like any of the colors made with RY/AY. They're just not visually appealing to me. I had a couple RY pop up from the Taylor black line when I first got it, and they were just enh. A good, rich red, esp a satin red, can be a really perfect looking mouse... but by god that's years of work and it never ends because Red is such a hard phenotype to maintain and I'm just not that determined. I'm convinced that people breed for red because seeing it opens all the ferret cages in their brain, not because they can be normal about it. If you want good reds, it's like you dedicate your life (and mousery) to it or you don't do it, and my life's already dedicated to the peafowl. My mousery is already dedicated to blacks and tricolors.
As for the AY gene itself, it's a "lethal" gene in that homozygosity is lethal but it's lethal at the blastocyst stage so it's not really an ethical problem imo. If it was lethal as in the pups deteriorate and die post partum, or if it caused well developed pups to die/be stillborn such that it caused the dam health risks, then it would be a problem. But, it doesn't. You just get smaller litters because some cells die way early on and get reabsorbed. I don't really have any problems with that. Show breeders cull litters down to 4-6 pups (for dam and pup health reasons), so it's not like all of them would be turning into adults anyway.
As for the genetic issues with the adult mice, there are three major health issues. The first is obesity (sort of), and the major problem there is keeping them in breeding shape (meaning, capable of doing the do at all). Curiously, in at least one study I remember seeing, there's a difference between an obese mouse of X color mutation and an AY that's considered obese because of its natural body type; for example, an obese black mouse will likely have a shortened lifespan, whereas an AY mouse doesn't (at least not less than any other mouse color mutation) unless it's obese for an AY. So this isn't really a problem as long as the breeder is watching their diet and ensuring they stay fit for their body type.
The other two genetic problems actually are health issues related directly to the AY gene, and that's being prone to diabetes and to tumors. However, these are both things that (any good) breeders would notice, cull, and therefore not breed forward, in order to keep the line as free from them as possible. Which really isn't any different than any other line that develops health problems of any sort. People don't keep health problems. A good breeder should be and usually is aware of the potential health problems in the lines they are breeding, particularly if it's a genetic one that can't be avoided (like you can't avoid AY if you're breeding AY), and will know what to look for and intervene as soon as possible. Diabetic mice urinate excessively so it's REALLY noticeable, and tumors... well. Hard to miss. And tumors of various sorts is a fairly common "select away from/cull" problem in any mutation, it's just slightly higher risk in AY.
So the short answer, in my opinion, AY isn't really an unethical gene to work with. It's not one I'd choose to work with, but I don't think the people who do are doing anything wrong just for working with the gene at all. It comes down to the same ethics as any other mutation; working to maintain body condition and selecting for health.
Honestly, out of all the animals I've seen bred and bred myself, I think mouse breeders in general have proven themselves to be the most concerned with what's best for the animal, not the breeder. The show clubs like FMBA and AFRMA etc won't recognize standards for things like snub noses or manx tails or anything else that would potentially seriously impact QoL by nature of existing at all, and at least in the groups I'm in, the members are not shy about recognizing when health problems mean no breeding for a mouse regardless of how pretty or sweet. When someone newer asks what to do, I've never seen anyone support trying to breed a mouse with issues, or usually even keep one whose QoL would be poor. They are very familiar with the kindest thing you can do is let them go. It's a breath of fresh air from the goddamn chicken groups, who will limp along any bird that's still breathing regardless of what's best for the bird.
I think the only morph I've seen that I have an ethical problem with is the X-brindle gene, which is a "brindle" gene on the X chromosome that causes the mouse to be unable to absorb copper. This means that the males DO founder and die after birth (which means most people just humanely euthanize the male pups, they aren't out here letting them suffer that I've seen), and females get a strange coat color and curled whiskers from low copper absorption. Does have a second X gene that's clean so they still can, but it's really an unnecessary mutation to continue imo. It hasn't been recognized by the show clubs that I know of, but idk if they can be shown under normal brindle or if you can tell at a glance, as I don't really know as much about them or any of the AY gene specifics. I have basic knowledge but since i don't breed them myself it's very in passing knowledge. I know it's rarely bred or worked with in the first place, and I hope it stays that way or disappears entirely.
#mice#my pets#mouse genetics#asks#anon asks#and please take my opinion with a grain of salt lol#I mean it when I say I don't know a lot#about morphs I don't personally breed#I'm barely comprehending the tricolor nonsense#I'm treading water with them trying to learn their genetics#I don't have the processing power for other mutations#I feel like I learn about new ones every week too#someone will post a photo and it'll be a light brown mouse#and they'll be like is this a coffee#and everyone else will be like no the foot is the wrong color it's a latte#and I'm over here sweating going they're mice not beverages??#and then someone names the genetics of the brown mouse#that looks like every other brown mouse#and there's 17 different genes#and none of them are the same as the other brown mouse#god peafowl genetics are so much easier

✨ 📖 ✏️ studyblr masterpost jam ✏️ 📖 ✨ Day #5 as an independent game designer maybe?
Today is about study tips! And I think you won't like mine, hehe but I'll give them anyway.
Create the environment for studying
My first one is to set the environment you study at, to make it more conducive to do so!
Our brain does not like friction, since it was forged in a time of total sedentary lifestyle. Animals in nature only expend energy to flee/fight a predator, search for food, and reproduce. All other energy costs represent enormous friction for us. When creating a habit we must lower the friction to the minimum, to the point where we can repeat the task day after day without it bothering us, and gradually increase the demands. If you don't have a study habit, don't try to lock yourself up for an entire afternoon until you understand basic concepts of whatever. Try watching one video, then two, then 5, then spend an hour on a tiny project. Think tiny, well your first project should be smaller than that. The 1% everyday rule.
Adopt an aesthetic that you can maintain over time
I don't want to discourage the flirty fairies of studyblr, I love following beautiful studyblrs and people who romanticize their lives, but I'd love to say to you to don't make your own honeypot that diverts you away from your goals.
I know it sounds super idiotic to say it, but for many people, it is important to romanticize their life as a way to reduce the friction in their tasks. Aesthetic is in everyting and some of us like to have control over it. Part of it is maintaining a blog, a bullet journal, etc. I don't think it's a bad practice, since falling in love with your lifestyle is something healthy and not an obstacle. Romanticizing student life can be trap that we all may fall into sooner or later. In the first years when I decided to be self-taught (before that I went to art school for 5 years before dropping out, missing a year to graduate) and started investing my time in learning programming, I wasted a lot of time trying to accommodate every minimum detail to make it enjoyable. I loved going to art school because it was a very sensorial and aesthetic experience, and I wanted to bring a little of that experience to my new life in programming. My first notebooks were unsustainable, my blogs too, I never managed to finish a bullet journal, my Notion had the most beautiful and impractical templates ever seen by humankind, and I spent more time maintaining those things than actually studying. I had an intermediate hiatus, driven by having started working in programming, and I returned to studying in a much more practical and clean way, with fewer worries and clear goals. Reaching your goals is also a vibe lol
Do excercise and invest in a good chair (or a good desk)
I know this sounds random and I have no advice to give. In fact, I think this is my best advice. I have a protrusion on my spine, I have another coworker who has 2, and a coworker with 3 (the latter is working full remote because she can't tolerate sitting in the office). Office and study life is extremely sedentary, and even worse if you do both at the same time. I used to be a girl who did ballet, gymnastics and basketball, until I moved to study and almost at the same time I started working. The anxiety of stillness made me addicted to snacks. I have gained considerably weight since then and my physical disposition after 10 years is no longer the same. I have colleagues who go to the gym just to physically support this lifestyle. You need a lot of strength and endurance to avoid falling into depression and other physical illnesses, such as obesity, bulges, or back pain. Sitting for so many hours can shorten your leg muscles and twist your spine. The sooner you dedicate yourself to your physical health, the further you can go. Sometimes you just can't study or challenge yourself more because your body doesn't allow it. Besides that, eat well and drink water.
Get an ergonomic chair that keeps your spine aligned, or some of those desks that allow you to work standing up, they are excellent investments.
---
Information about programming is everywhere all over the surface of the web, there is little to honestly talk about it. That's why I think it was more valuable to talk about the consequences of living this lifestyle for so long. I hope it helps someone.

I'm annoyed that the article didn't go touch on how so many fad diet and gimmicks are aimed at women. Ladies, every healthier choice you make gives these conartists less money.
Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day is celebrated every Tuesday after the third Sunday in January, which starts Healthy Weight Week. This year, it takes place on January 16. It seeks to promote weight management and encourage people to eat healthily and have a balanced diet.
Weight management includes specific techniques and physiological processes that enable one to attain and maintain a certain body weight. Most of these techniques comprise long-term lifestyle strategies that promote healthy eating as well as daily physical activity. It involves developing meaningful ways to monitor one’s weight over time.
HISTORY OF RID THE WORLD OF FAD DIETS & GIMMICKS DAY
By the standards of the early Greeks and Romans, a healthy body was equated with a healthy mind. Being “fat” was not only considered ugly — it was also regarded as a sign of mental imbalance. The Greeks were so obsessed with physical fitness that wealthy people who had free time would spend eight hours a day working out in a gymnasium, usually naked.
Hippocrates, a Greek physician (acknowledged as the father of medicine) who lived around 400 B.C., believed fat people suffered from lack of restful sleep, aches, pains, and a number of other illnesses. He then recommended that overweight individuals follow a strict diet, increase their exercise rate, and — believe it or not — vomit! The ancient Greeks admired ideal bodies, with their ideal look being chunkier and more muscular — a far cry from the “skinny” physique being pushed by the fashion and entertainment industry.
In the mid-1800s, the ideal masculine and feminine beauty gravitated toward thinness. Overweight romantics got the short end of the fashion stick as clothing became form-fitting for both sexes. From 1850 to 1920, women’s dresses required a tiny laced-in waist. Men wore tights or breeches with tight-fitting jackets until close to the end of the 19th century when the vogue switched to looser pants. Being overweight was such a social handicap at the time that a book published in 1881 even suggested that governments arrest and imprison overweight people.
RID THE WORLD OF FAD DIETS & GIMMICKS DAY TIMELINE
RID THE WORLD OF FAD DIETS & GIMMICKS DAY ACTIVITIES
Eat healthyEat only food that nourishes the body. There’s no time like the present to start.
Do some exercises. Start exercising to get into shape. Start off with light exercises and build your way up as your strength increases.
Spread awareness onlineSpread awareness online about weight management and the perils of excess weight. Use the #RidTheWorldOfFadDiets&GimmicksDay hashtag.
5 IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT OBESITY
It increases the risk of illnessBeing overweight increases one’s risk of falling ill — your vulnerability to illness in this context varies according to how much excess weight is in question.
A shorter life expectancyStatistically speaking, obesity may shorten life expectancy.
It can affect one’s mental health. Overweight people may become vulnerable to mood and anxiety disorders.
Healthy eating, longer lifeMaking it a habit to eat only healthy food may stretch one’s life span.
Diet gimmicks fail. Diet gimmicks are simply a way of conning people out of their money or savings, capitalizing on their desperate attempt to lose weight — the most effective ways to manage one’s weight are eating healthy food and doing structured exercises.

Do you nourish and nurture your body while it is useful, and when it is no longer needed, kill it and use it as fertilizer for the soil? You probably won't.
No matter how thick artificially grown trees are, their durability as building materials is far inferior to that of older natural trees.
Please think deeply about these matters in light of the relationship between the human world and the earth.
By doing so, we can realize that the mighty virtue of our parents, the earth and atmosphere, our parents' blessings, and our parents' compassion are vast and boundless.
In fact, we live human-oriented lives and do not follow the earth or the atmosphere. If it's cold, we use the heater, and if it's hot, we use the air conditioner, and we don't train to endure it. It is temporary, and shortening eternal life and boasting that it is the power of culture and has conquered nature is just like the quick fruits of artificial cultivation.
This is just rare, and probably won't have the flavor of seasonal fruit. We see the same thing in humans.
Based on the theory that if the body is healthy, the mind is also healthy, and by focusing on the body and making it obese, we are actually creating a sickly and weak body. so-called”柱にならぬうどの大木”

wait wait! Are there really people who think that intersex is the mutation?
like, are you learn basic biology???
the species that divide into two sexes AND definitively are really not the majority…
plus…mutant really shouldn't be an insult. Like, it's one of nature's preferred methods of evolution, way above all else. I would say that it is THE means of diversification and therefore of adaptation and survival of life!!!
Diseases like the flu survive year after year thanks to its ability to mutate, for 1 example
while selective breeding to have only "good genes" in purebred pets gives a plethora of congenital diseases… ho and also go see our failure with bananas if you don't know the story yet :)
suffice to say that humanity's opinion on what a good gene is just doesn't work… most of the time it will be something insignificant, sometimes it saves a population then the changes in the environment make the gene before genial a nuisance like those people of island origin who have a gene which allowed them to optimize the assimilation of calories which has helped them for generations but at present predestines them to obesity, the gene is not bad, it is just an obeine or a fleo depending on the living environment
In short, reading this dig about intersex hurt me in addition to finding it totally absurd. just like the shortened grandparent = old = Alzheimer's (by the way for your culture there is a form of juvenile Alzheimer's which can start before the age of 50 ho and yes there are several Alzheimer's and the location affected in the brain can also vary )
On the other hand, all his stories about acceptance written above are good and do good :D
My 90yr old Irish Catholic grandpa doesn’t miss with my gender. He’s never gotten my name wrong, or my pronouns, never even faltered over it.
It’s all so natural too: son, big man, young man…
We’ve never talked about it. He’s the only one who hasn’t pushed for details. He just accepted it and carried on because it’s not a huge deal.
It’s so comforting.
#queer#queer community#lgbtq#lgbtqia#lgbtq community#lgbtqia community#intersex#trans#stigmatization#mutant?#mutations#they don't mean you harm#they are RANDOM!!!#basic biology#biology#biology is not anti intersex or anti trans#stop using it as an argument to differentiate what is good or bad#biology is the study of life#life is not good or bad#life is and that's all#It’s the same for trans and intersex people!#and stop assuming that all old people will end up with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's!#that’s not how it works!!!#sorry if this seems like a hijacking of a trans thread into intersex sudject#I don't know enough about trans circles to talk about it properly#but even I can see that it's bullshit#and honestly I don't understand the use of mutant as an insult#like in biology it doesn't have it as said before#but in popular culture mutant = ninja turtle or X men#right???

Find Out the Best Dog Food Options to Keep Your Pet Healthy!
Introduction
Feeding your dog the right food is essential to ensure they live a long, happy, and healthy life. Just like humans, dogs require specific nutrients to thrive, and choosing the wrong food can lead to health issues down the line. But with so many options available, how do you know which dog food is best for your furry friend?
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about dog food—helping you make informed choices that benefit your dog’s overall well-being.
How Age Affects Dietary Requirements
Understanding Your Dog’s Nutritional Needs As your dog grows, their nutritional needs change. Puppies need more calories, protein, and fat to support their rapid growth, while senior dogs benefit from fewer calories but more joint-supporting nutrients like glucosamine. It’s important to choose a food formulated for your dog’s life stage.
Breed and Size Considerations
Smaller breeds often have faster metabolisms and require calorie-dense food, while large breeds need balanced nutrition to support their bones and joints. Each breed has its own unique set of dietary needs, and feeding your dog based on these factors can improve their health significantly.
Activity Level and Its Influence
on s your dog a couch potato or a running enthusiast? Highly active dogs need more calories and a diet rich in protein and fat to maintain energy levels, while less active dogs should have food with fewer calories to avoid weight gain. Types of Dog Food Available
Dry Dog Food (Kibble)
Kibble is one of the most popular choices for dog owners. It’s affordable, convenient, and can help keep your dog’s teeth clean by reducing plaque. However, not all kibble is created equal. Look for high-quality ingredients like real meat as the first ingredient, and avoid fillers like corn and soy.
wet Dog Food (Canned)
Canned dog food is more palatable for picky eaters and provides hydration, which is beneficial for dogs who don’t drink enough water. The downside is that wet food can be more expensive and doesn’t have the dental benefits that dry food offers.
Raw and Homemade Diets
Many dog owners are now turning to raw and homemade diets to control exactly what their pets are eating. While this approach can provide wholesome, fresh ingredients, it requires careful planning to ensure that all nutritional needs are met. Raw diets also carry the risk of bacterial contamination.
Freeze-Dried and Dehydrated Dog Foods
These types of dog foods offer convenience and nutrition. They are often minimally processed, retaining the nutrients found in raw food but without the need for refrigeration. This can be a great option if you’re looking for a middle ground between raw and kibble.
What to Look for in Dog Food Ingredients
Protein Sources – The Foundation of a Healthy Diet Protein is a crucial component of your dog’s diet. Look for high-quality protein sources like chicken, beef, or fish as the first ingredient in your dog’s food. Protein supports muscle maintenance and overall health.
Fats and Carbohydrates – Providing Energy
Fats are a concentrated source of energy and are important for healthy skin and a shiny coat. Carbohydrates, while not essential for dogs, provide a good energy source for highly active dogs. Whole grains like brown rice and oats are better options than fillers like corn and wheat.
Essential Vitamins and Minerals
Your dog needs a range of vitamins and minerals to support their immune system, bones, and overall health. Look for dog food fortified with necessary nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and E.
Common Dog Food Mistakes to Avoid
Overfeeding and Underfeeding Feeding your dog too much or too little can lead to health problems. Overfeeding may result in obesity, which can cause joint issues and shorten your dog’s lifespan. Underfeeding can deprive them of essential nutrients, affecting their growth and energy levels.
Dietary Needs for Dogs with Allergies
Some dogs suffer from food allergies or sensitivities, which can cause symptoms like itching, digestive issues, or ear infections. Typical allergies include cereals, dairy products, chicken, and beef. If you suspect your dog has a food allergy, consult your vet to determine the best hypoallergenic diet for them. These diets typically use novel protein sources, such as venison or duck, and avoid common allergens.
How to Know If Your Dog Is Eating the Right Amount
Signs of Overfeeding and Underfeeding It can be challenging to determine whether you're feeding your dog the right amount, but there are a few key signs to watch for. Overfeeding can lead to obesity, which manifests as excessive weight gain, difficulty moving, or lethargy. On the other hand, underfeeding may result in weight loss, a dull coat, or lack of energy.
How to Adjust Portions Based on Your Dog's Needs
Every dog is unique, so the recommended portion sizes on food packaging may not always be accurate for your pet. Pay attention to your dog's body condition and adjust the food portions as needed. A simple way to check is to feel your dog's ribs—if you can easily feel them but they aren’t overly prominent, your dog is likely at a healthy weight. Adjust the portion sizes gradually and monitor their weight and energy levels over time.
The Importance of Fresh Water with Dog Food
In addition to a balanced diet, your dog needs access to fresh water at all timesDigestion, circulation, and temperature regulation all depend heavily on water.. Ensure your dog’s water bowl is filled with clean water daily, especially if they eat dry kibble, which can be dehydrating.
Conclusion
Feeding your dog the right food is one of the most important aspects of keeping them healthy and happy. From understanding their nutritional needs based on age, size, and activity level, to choosing the best ingredients and avoiding common feeding mistakes, there’s a lot to consider. By making informed decisions about your dog’s
diet, you’ll help them live a longer, healthier life.
It’s also important to monitor your dog’s eating habits, ensure they’re getting the right portion sizes, and provide fresh water to keep them hydrated. Remember, every dog is different, so always be ready to adjust their diet as needed to meet their specific needs.
Happy feeding!
FAQs
How can I determine if my dog has dietary allergies? Signs of food allergies in dogs include itching, skin irritation, vomiting, diarrhea, and ear infections. If your dog shows any of these symptoms, it's important to consult with your vet. They may recommend an elimination diet or prescribe hypoallergenic food to help identify the offending ingredient.
Can I feed my dog a vegetarian diet?
While it’s possible to feed your dog a vegetarian diet, it requires careful planning to ensure they receive all the necessary nutrients, particularly protein. Dogs are omnivores, so they can eat plant-based foods, but it’s essential to consult with your vet before switching to a vegetarian diet.
Is raw food better for dogs than kibble?
Raw food diets can provide more natural nutrients and less processed ingredients than kibble. However, raw diets also carry risks, such as bacterial contamination and unbalanced nutrition if not properly prepared. It’s important to thoroughly research or consult a vet if you’re considering a raw diet for your dog.
How can I help my dog lose weight with diet?
To help your dog lose weight, switch to a low-calorie dog food and measure their portions carefully. Incorporate more physical activity and avoid feeding them table scraps or too many treats. If your dog is significantly overweight, talk to your vet about creating a tailored weight-loss plan.
What should I do if my dog refuses to eat new food?
Dogs can be picky eaters, especially when transitioning to new food. Start by mixing a small amount of the new food with the old one and gradually increase the proportion over several days. If your dog continues to refuse the new food, consult your vet to ensure there’s no underlying health issue.

Top 10 Mistakes Pet Parents Commonly Make
As pet parents, we always strive to provide the best for our furry companions. However, even with the best intentions, we sometimes make mistakes that can impact their health and well-being. In this article, we'll discuss the top 10 common mistakes pet parents make and how to avoid them.
Skipping Regular Vet Visits Regular veterinary care is crucial for your pet's well-being. Many pet owners skip these visits, thinking their pet is healthy if they don't show obvious signs of illness. However, pets often hide discomfort. Regular check-ups can catch potential health issues early, such as dental problems, weight issues, and more severe conditions like heart disease or diabetes.
Solution: Schedule annual or bi-annual vet visits. Keep a record of your pet's vaccinations and any health issues to discuss during these visits. Establish a relationship with a vet you trust so that you feel comfortable seeking advice.
Overfeeding and Poor Diet Choices Overfeeding is a common mistake that leads to obesity and other health problems. Obesity can shorten your pet's lifespan and increase the risk of conditions like arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease. Additionally, feeding pets table scraps or the wrong type of food can cause digestive issues and nutritional imbalances.
Solution: Follow feeding guidelines provided by your vet or pet food manufacturer. Measure your pet's food to avoid overfeeding. Provide a balanced diet tailored to your pet's specific needs and avoid giving too many treats. Consult your vet for dietary recommendations based on your pet's age, breed, and health status.
Lack of Exercise Daily exercise is essential for your pet's health and happiness, especially for dogs. A lack of physical activity can lead to behavioral issues, obesity, and other health problems. Cats also need exercise to prevent obesity and boredom-related behaviors like scratching furniture or excessive meowing.
Solution: Ensure your pet gets daily exercise tailored to their breed and age. For dogs, this could include walks, playtime in the yard, or visits to the dog park. For cats, engage them with interactive toys, laser pointers, or even training them to walk on a leash.
Ignoring Dental Health Dental health is often overlooked. Regular brushing and dental check-ups are essential to prevent dental diseases like gingivitis and periodontal disease, which can lead to more serious health issues if left untreated.
Solution: Brush your pet's teeth regularly with pet-specific toothpaste and toothbrushes. Provide dental chews and toys to help maintain oral hygiene. Schedule regular dental check-ups with your vet and consider professional cleanings if necessary.
Not Socializing Your Pet Socialization is crucial for a well-behaved pet. A lack of socialization can result in fear, anxiety, and aggression. Exposing your pet to different environments, people, and other animals from a young age helps them become well-adjusted and confident.
Solution: Gradually introduce your pet to new experiences, ensuring each encounter is positive. Reward positive behavior with treats and praise. For dogs, puppy classes can be beneficial. For cats, providing a variety of experiences within the home can help.
Skipping Training Training is vital for your pet's safety and your peace of mind. Basic commands like sit, stay, and come can prevent accidents and improve your pet's behavior. Proper training can also help with issues like jumping on guests, chewing on furniture, and barking excessively.
Solution: Start training your pet early using positive reinforcement methods. Be consistent with commands and rewards. If needed, consider professional training classes or hiring a private trainer. Training should be a continuous process throughout your pet's life.
Inconsistent Routine Pets thrive on routine. Inconsistent feeding, walking, and playtimes can cause stress and anxiety. Pets feel more secure when they know what to expect and when.
Solution: Stick to a regular schedule for feeding, walking, and playtime. Consistency will help your pet feel secure and reduce anxiety-related behaviors.
Using Incorrect Products Using human products on pets, like shampoos and medications, can be harmful. Many household products contain ingredients that are toxic to pets or can cause skin irritation and other issues.
Solution: Always use products specifically designed for pets. Consult your vet before introducing new products to ensure they are safe and appropriate for your pet's needs.
Neglecting Mental Stimulation Pets require mental as well as physical stimulation. A lack of mental stimulation can lead to boredom, anxiety, and destructive behaviors.
Solution: Provide toys, puzzles, and interactive games to keep your pet's mind active. Rotate toys to keep them interesting. Spend time each day playing with your pet and teaching them new tricks or commands to challenge their mind.
Ignoring Signs of Illness Pet parents often ignore subtle signs of illness, thinking they will resolve on their own. Early detection of symptoms like changes in appetite, behavior, or energy levels is crucial.
Solution: Pay close attention to your pet's behavior and health. Monitor changes in appetite, weight, energy levels, and bathroom habits. See your veterinarian right away if you observe any changes. Early intervention can prevent more serious health problems.
Conclusion Avoiding these common mistakes can lead to a healthier, happier life for your pet. Regular vet visits, a balanced diet, exercise, socialization, and proper training are key to being a responsible pet parent. By staying informed and attentive to your pet's needs, you can ensure they live a long and fulfilling life.

Strategies for Managing and Treating Obesity in Cats
Obesity in cats is a growing concern that affects their overall health and quality of life. It can lead to various health problems, including diabetes, joint issues, and a shortened lifespan. At Tri-County Animal Hospital, we understand the complexities of managing Obesity in cats and are dedicated to helping cat owners navigate effective strategies for weight management. This guide provides practical tips and insights to help you address and treat obesity in your feline friend.
Understanding Feline Obesity
What is Obesity in Cats?
Obesity in cats is defined as an excess of body fat that negatively impacts their health. It’s commonly measured using a Body Condition Score (BCS), where a score above 5 indicates obesity. Excess weight can strain a cat’s organs, reduce their mobility, and lead to other serious health issues.
Causes of Obesity in Cats
1. Overfeeding
Feeding your cat more calories than they expend can lead to weight gain. Overfeeding, whether from free-feeding or providing high-calorie treats, is a primary cause of obesity.
2. Lack of Exercise
Cats that are inactive or live indoors without opportunities to exercise are at higher risk of becoming obese. Physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy weight.
3. Poor Diet Choices
A diet high in carbohydrates and low in essential nutrients can contribute to weight gain. Choosing the right food is crucial for your cat’s health.
4. Medical Conditions
Certain medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism or Cushing’s disease, can lead to weight gain. If your cat is gaining weight despite a controlled diet, it may be worth exploring underlying health issues.
Strategies for Managing Obesity in Cats
1. Consult Your Veterinarian
Before starting any weight management plan, it’s important to consult with your veterinarian. At Tri-County Animal Hospital, our team will assess your cat’s health, determine their ideal weight, and create a customized weight loss plan.
2. Implement Portion Control
Control the amount of food your cat consumes by measuring their meals and avoiding free-feeding. Use a measuring cup or scale to ensure you’re providing the correct portion size. At Tri-County Animal Hospital, we can help you establish a feeding schedule that supports weight loss.
3. Choose the Right Diet
Opt for a balanced, low-calorie diet that provides essential nutrients without excess calories. Look for specially formulated weight management cat foods that are high in protein and fiber but lower in fat. Your veterinarian at Tri-County Animal Hospital can recommend suitable options for your cat.
4. Increase Physical Activity
Encourage your cat to exercise by providing interactive toys and playtime. Activities such as feather wands, laser pointers, and puzzle feeders can stimulate your cat’s natural hunting instincts and help them burn calories.
5. Monitor Progress
Regularly track your cat’s weight and body condition to assess progress. Periodic weigh-ins at Tri-County Animal Hospital can help ensure that your cat is on track to reach their target weight.
6. Avoid High-Calorie Treats
Reduce or eliminate high-calorie treats from your cat’s diet. Instead, offer healthy, low-calorie treats or use small portions of their regular food as rewards during playtime.
7. Encourage Hydration
Ensure your cat has access to fresh water at all times. Proper hydration supports metabolism and helps your cat feel full, reducing the likelihood of overeating.
8. Address Underlying Health Issues
If your cat’s weight loss is not progressing as expected, consult your veterinarian to rule out any underlying health conditions that may be affecting their weight. At Tri-County Animal Hospital, we offer comprehensive diagnostic services to identify and treat any contributing health issues.
Conclusion
Managing and treating obesity in cats requires a comprehensive approach that includes dietary adjustments, increased physical activity, and regular veterinary care. At Tri-County Animal Hospital, we are committed to helping you and your feline friend achieve and maintain a healthy weight. By implementing these strategies and working closely with our team, you can improve your cat’s health and overall quality of life.

How a Healthy Lifestyle Can Improve Male Fertility?
Male Fertility: Talking about men’s reproductive health, the quality and mobility of sperm in men play an important role in conceiving. That is, due to the quality of men’s sperm, embryos are formed and pregnancy is successful. There can be many reasons behind low sperm count such as biological, hormonal and environmental factors.
youtube
Whenever it comes to pregnancy, women’s reproductive health is often talked about, whereas men’s reproductive health is equally important like women’s. A recent study shows that sperm count has declined by more than 50 percent across the world, including India, in the last four decades. Reproductive health tells about the overall health of any person. Which includes sperm count, its deficiency can lead to chronic diseases and also shorten life.
So let us know what things affect the fertility of men, and how these can be improved.
Improve the environment around you
In the last few years, our environment has suffered a lot due to excessive use of plastic, pollution, carbon emissions and global warming. This is the reason why in the last few decades, along with cancer and chronic diseases, fertility has also decreased. To change our reproductive capacity, we will have to remove those things from our lifestyle which cause pollution. This includes reducing the use of plastic, avoiding the use of artificial sweeteners, artificial flavours and food preservatives, as they reduce sperm count and quality
Reduce use of electronic gadgets
In this digital world, use of mobile, tab, laptop is common. Now it does not seem easy to do anything without using them, as they also have a very bad effect on our health, so keep them away from you whenever possible. According to a recent study, the Wi-Fi signals emanating from the cellphone kept in the pant pocket have an adverse effect on the mobility and quality of sperm.
Planning a Child at an Older Age
In today’s life full of competition, most couples give more importance to their career and profession than their personal life. Because of which they plan to have children after the age of 30. According to science, sperm quality decreases with age and pregnancy becomes difficult. Very few men know about this. The age of 30 years to 35 years is the best time for conceiving for men and women. Complications increase after this age.
Smoking & Drinking
Smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol daily or use of tobacco etc decreases the mobility and quality of sperm. Testicular tissue is very sensitive to circulating toxins and chronic exposure to these toxins can significantly impair sperm production. These harmful substances also cause mutations, which can cause problems in the foetus and may even cause defects in the child at birth.
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, serious diseases like diabetes, hypertension and obesity have become common among youth. After the pandemic, the lifestyle of some people has become limited, even if they work from home, due to which their lifestyle has been greatly affected. Apart from this, lack of sleep or sleeping and waking up at the wrong time also affects fertility.
Frequently Ask Questions:
1.What lifestyle factors affect male fertility?
Sperm count is low in men who smoke cigarettes, if you want to improve your fertility then quit it as soon as possible.Limit alcohol. Heavy drinking can lead to reduced testosterone production, impotence and decreased sperm production and coffee consumption
2.How can diet and exercise improve male fertility?
Men should include in their diet Eggs, meat, oatmeal, milk, cheese, tofu, yogurt, flaxseed, and poppy seeds etc. can be protein sources. 2. Vitamin C: Vitamin C can help increase sperm count. Mango, orange, lemon, guava, guava, broccoli, cabbage etc. are good sources of Vitamin C.
Exercises: There are five main exercises to increase fertility in male ie. weight training, running, cycling, cobra pose (bhujangasana), and Sarvangasana.
3.Are there any specific habits men should adopt to improve fertility?
