Whumptober Fic Requests

Melissa learned to hate the full moon long before she got tangled up in the supernatural community. She would venture to guess that the full orange orb in the sky causes her more anxiety than Scott.

All he has to do is keep himself and his pack from going on a murderous rampage.

She has to contend with the ER.

It's filled with every kind of emergency she's ever imagined before Alan shows up with a half-dead werewolf.

"I do not have time," Melissa hisses, wiping sweat from her face, "with whatever that is."

She has two heart attack patients and a broken EKG machine, two nurses who can't make it for various reasons, a young man convinced his grandfather is having a stroke, an old man with half of his hand cut off, and any number of any other problems.

Alan shrugs apologetically.

Melissa glances around, "there's a bed in the back with my less traditional ingredients. I'll be there when I can." She pushes the key card into Alan's hand and returns to the next patient in the room.

"Was that one of ours?" David asks the instant they have two seconds alone together, a few hours later.

"I didn't see who it was," Melissa admits, "but it wasn't one of ours."

David's shoulders sag in relief. She puts a hand on his shoulder. "Scott is keeping Liam safe. We have nothing to worry about."

David nods. "Right, yeah. Okay, well, we've got a few left to see, but we can probably do without you for a few minutes."

Melissa realizes that it's almost quiet and that it's almost morning.

She nods and makes her way to the room she's made into something of an emergency supernatural healing center.

Alan sits slumped in the chair beside the cot. He's holding the figure's hand, and recognition hits her like a freight train.

"I especially," Melissa punctuates each word angrily, "don't have time for him."

The last time Melissa had seen Deucalion, he'd terrorized and allowed her to be kidnapped to antagonize her son.

Alan nods. "He will heal on his own, given time and a safe space. I had hoped you would help hasten the process. But I understand if you can't."

Melissa sighs. Deucalion is pale, covered in blood, clothes torn where he'd been attacked. "Why?" "We were friends once. And he was attacked keeping a group of Scott's pack safe." Melissa stiffens. Alan waves a hand. "He dispatched the threat. He was just hurt in the process." Melissa unlocks her cabinets and thrusts a few items into Alan's hands. "I assume these are why you didn't just take him to the clinic."

Alan nods, too grateful. Melissa softens. "He can stay, for now." "Thank you." "Yeah, well see that you stay with him because you sir, are a useful set of hands, and if we have another spike I am not above recruiting you to help."

Alan smiles. "Duly noted."

Okay I just need to say that I knew I'd like this Tailstube as soon as I saw the thumbnail (after all, I am a Sonadails enjoyer, and Tails is literally in the middle of them in the thumbnail)

But I think probably something that stood out the most to me when I watched it was just

The hints that Shadow and Tails have a relationship outside of Sonic??

The first thing that tipped me off to this was that not only did Tails convince Shadow to join in on his show, he also convinced him to stick around to its natural end?? You know, Shadow. The guy you can't force to do anything and frequently will just dip if he's bored or doesn't want to be there. But even while Sonic was annoying him and he made it clear he wanted the "interview" over with, he still never made a move to chaos control out of there because of any of this.

And the second thing that tipped me off was this:

When Shadow is both confused and annoyed at Sonic, he chooses to complain to Tails about Sonic. And so Tails steps in to try to "explain" what Sonic meant by what he said (i.e he told Shadow something much nicer in the interest of getting them to be on better terms). The fact that he looks to Tails to complain to about Tails' own best friend and possibly even to explain that which he does not understand in a social context tells me just how highly he regards Tails. And since both Shadow and Sonic are being childish here, it's amusing to see Tails regarded as something closer to a trusted figure with more power here.

From an objective analysis standpoint, of course this means they have their own friendship. And this is a prospect I enjoy (The idea that Tails and Shadow are good friends)! It actually means a lot to me that Tails could form a frienship or bond with Shadow outside of the context of Sonic (in terms of who initiates it and for what reason it's initiated).

But, my friends, from a biased standpoint, I'm shipping trash. And to me this Tailstube was a fun show for Sonadails fans. Honestly, Tails staging this episode to get Sonic and Shadow to talk and "bury the hatchet", as well as how he acts during the show, read a lot to me personally like a guy trying to get his two boyfriends (who happen to be rivals) to get on better terms, if not just tolerate each other. I quite like the idea of Tails dating both of these idiots and just trying to get them to play nice when they're all together (although frankly I think the ideal scenario for Tails in my biased reading is that Sonic and Shadow get together as well).

This is also not to mention the dynamics showcased here! Sonic and Tails as best friends, with Sonic assuming that he and Tails were gonna talk shit about Shadow behind his back, and Tails trying to get him to play nicer. Shadow and Tails as friends, with Tails trying to convince him why he and Sonic are in the perfect position to become friends and helping him out socially, and with Shadow choosing to do something he doesn't want to because of Tails, as well as looking to Tails to complain to when Sonic is annoying him or when he doesn't understand something. And then there's Sonic and Shadow. In short, their relationship in this episode reminded me a lot of the dynamic I plotted out for that Sonadow post I wrote up where the two just beat the crap out of each other. In slightly longer terms, I find interesting how Mr. Flynn maintained Sonic and Shadow's dynamic during SA2 (with Sonic bothering Shadow and trying to fight him, while Shadow is just annoyed that Sonic won't leave him alone) while also showing the audience that they are rivals. And in longer terms...Sonic was clearly seeking a fight during this episode. And the facial expression, the mocking, his tone of voice, it doesn’t really matter whether or not he actually dislikes Shadow and believes they could never be friends. He's trying to annoy Shadow and goad him into a fight because he wants to fight Shadow so badly it makes him look stupid. And we can tell by how he expresses his confusion to Tails that Shadow is just not getting this. To him Sonic is just being annoying and confusing. Sonic is targeting him specifically, and Shadow shoots back with his own words. And so it's also pointed that Shadow reciprocates/actually decides to fight Sonic when Sonic specifically challenges him. He doesn't respond to Sonic trying to goad him on, but when Sonic challenges him specifically he's much more interested in opposing him.

Anyways guys I love Shadow and Tails having a soft on the side relationship while Sonic flirts by convincing Shadow to fight him somehow😂💖

The that some people read subtext between siblings remind me of people reading subtext in m/m frienship and f/f frienship. I mean IS is catering with Catherine and Shamir, but i don't see anything romantic in Sain and Keith's relationship

its been a bit since i played all of fe7, but i dont think its impossible to read into. but thats also arguably part of the issue here, in that a solid romantic relationship often bears similarities to a solid friendship [and that any strong romantic relation is going to be built on a strong friendship regardless]. im not saying its impossible for two people on any point of the gender spectrum to just be really close friends, and there are plenty of characters i view just in those terms.

but ya know. romance isnt always defined by the snogging. sometimes people are going to ship characters together because they enjoy seeing them be absolutely catty to each other or just enjoy the dynamic of their interactions enough to also include snogging.

I'm writing a frienship/pre-romance piece for Flufftober about them. I really like the pairing, even if I'm a Jiroshi supporter too. I have written something here on tumblr with them and I wish to do more. I'll forever be thankful for the shuffle event because it really gave us food for a few pairings haha (let's not talk about the whole hitojaku scene...)

Maybe we made the connection because hot chocolate is warm and sweet and they can be a very wholesome couple?

what did or didn't you like about the terror book? I picked it up too and I'm not too impressed either haha

It's easier to list the things I like so far:

a) Irving (he looks quite sweet, and while the series one was apparently more like the real John Irving, I kind of like his bigger role in the book and him as a character), Goodsir's POV/journal is really fun to read, and in general a lot of cool detail about life on the ship, what the cabins looked like etc, how everything was organised. It's clear a lot of research went into this.

Dislike- everything else really.

a) the portrayal of native women (girls really!) as horny beasts whose main and only pleasure was to shag sailors, the🤮 emoji was invented for this reason I believe.

I kind of get that this may be representaton of how many people would imagine natives/women (and many people these days still sadly do!), but it does not make the reading any more pleasant. Whether there was need to only/mostly represent women via the looks of their pubic hair (and from what I have heard, the author tends to portray women in that way in general), well, you can guess my opinion on that.

b) I totally see why no one likes Crozier, I also don't like the book Crozier; at times he even makes even Sir John a more likeable character, which in itself is a form of art I think. The way he talks/thinks about everyone is quite off-putting and my eyes hurt from rolling.

c) I miss all the relationships and interactions between the crew we saw in the series, they seem completely gone in the book so far, the sense of brotherhood/frienship is not quite there and it's all so... very... dry...

I also know of some of what is to come in the novel and the prospect of reading about it just does not really excite me. I feel like compared with the series, a lot of the characters I already like/love have much less interesting/nonexistent arcs.

Inej and Jesper friendship

I haven’t read Crooked Kingdom, no spoilers pls.

Spoilers of Six of Crows.

And now what is important. Do we ship characters in a platonic way? I’m not that active in the fandom things, so i don’t know about a lot of things. But Inej and Jesper friendship is my favorithe relationship in the entire book. 

I think this relationship deserves more appreciation.

Why?

1. I’ve seen some people say how nice it is that in six of crows we have a good female frienship and everything, but what about a completely platonic relationship between a girl and boy? A boy that is known for being flirty? You people are always asking for it, and there it is.

2. They trust each other, which is very different from their relationships with Kaz. Inej is the person who collects secrets to Kaz, but Jesper has no problem telling her that he lost his father’s money. He isn’t afraid of her telling Kaz. Or when Inej tells Jesper what she knows about Wylan situation. Or when she asks him if Kaz visited her. 

3. They are so cute.  Examples: when Inej was hurt and Jesper was trying to make her feel better about needing help by saying he was the one needing help; when Inej said Jesper was a good friend; when Jesper was so sad because Inej was really injured; when they were talking about Kaz and compared him to bees. When they say they’re both too good to Kaz. When Jesper said he was going to help Inej get her knives again.

4. They don’t let their complicated relationship with Kaz damage their friendship. Jesper feels jealous sometimes, but he never treats Inej badly because of it.

5. How they care for each other and don’t have a problem showing it. Jesper was seeing Inej twice a day when she was injured and then was there helping her walking. Kaz, that akward teen, waited 2 days to talk bullshit if her just because he didn’t know how to say how are you. How when Inej discovered why he was in the mission she showed understanding for his situation.

6. How their conversations are always jokes, but when the other is talking about something important, serious the other listens and stops joking. 

7. I think they have a good chemistry, I mean you can see how they like and care for each other. Idk, but for me Jesper is Inej’s best friend and Inej is Jesper’s best friend. I think what they have isn’t something you can find easily in the Barrel.

Thanks for sending this because this an easy example of why I’m trying to do someting (maybe useless) about this.

Just to make it clear that I’m not Anthony’s agent and I’m not his friend, and I am not a die hard fan or anything, but I’m doing this as a matter of principle because the treatment Anthony has received by the press is disgusting, and what you are saying is proof.

All the articles you are mentionning, are based on ONE article on one interview written by a journalist from Variety, who intentionally wrote an article misleading people into thinking he was talking about Sam and Bucky’s relationship, when in fact, he was merely replying to a question, the journalist himself had asked about the rarity of male frienships but wasn’t replying to Sam and Bucky’s relationship.

Not your fault at all, I won’t pretend that I don’t do the same and only read headling or even dig deeper than the article most of the time. But what I don’t understand is the journalists, whose job this is and who are doing the same thing, I don’t think that any of them listened to the actual podcast.

Say what you want about what Anthony said, but the reason why this is such a big story, is because the journalist placed the answer in the wrong context. That article was written to stir drama, and the journalist knew that an actor saying he didn’t support a ship as romantic would create more headlines..

And all the other articles you see are based on that misleading one, and not even on the podcast. And that journalist knows exactly what he is doing, because when he was asked to publish the audio on Twitter, he cut the part with his own question, leading to Anthony’s reply.

Now I don’t care if Anthony Mackie likes Sam and Bucky’s relationship or not, and this has nothing to do with shipping or even Anthony. 

Honestly, I’m not even doing this for Anthony because Anthony will be fine, he has his money, his family and isn’t on social media that much, I highly doubt that he is severely impacted by this. And by the time it could do any harm to his career, the story would have died down.... Because this how the Internet works... the stories go from 0 to 100 back to 0 very quickly.

But I do think this is unfair that the journalist who’s setting him up is getting away with this, especially since the jornalist as a history of framing misleading stories about Black actors, Ray Fisher and John Boyega.

I don’t feel ok not trying anything when people keep getting away applying racists pattern, especially when I look at how racism in the industry has affected John and Ray’s careers.

And if you really want to dig up interviews, you can also dig up articles where he gives his opinion on why it was important for him as a Black man to star in movies like Brother to Brother or shows like Black Mirror.

I’m not doing this for Anthony as a person, but you have no idea how infuriating it is to see a Black man get demonized for something a White man would get away with and especially something he didn’t say in that context in the first place.

If Anthony’s answers had been put it the context of the questions asked in the podcast, this wouldn’t even be a big story.

My personal thoughts on THIS

I am gay, not a teen and have spent a lifetime between two very different cultures. I like to think I understand nuance and the unfairness of applying western experiences and values onto people living in other parts of the world. Maybe I am less evolved than I want to be. But there's one thing I can't shake. If Jimin and Jungkook were never more than friends (limiting term but you get what I mean) than some of their actions make no sense other than in a way I am very opposed to accepting. Being honest. I am entitled to nothing and these are two strangers. Last 2020's Christmas Jikook Dynamite selfie camera moment, among others, comes to mind as self aware gayness from gays unless it isn't in which case ok what then. Another one is knowing you are shipped to the point of minute analysis and you still put the hickey into Memories 2020? I know Jikook aren't the editors of Memories but they get a say right? In my mind they have to be queer and be or have been together for this to make sense. And there are other examples too but I won't write a novel. I don't know them but thinking they just put all that in there for fun or to sell dvds bothers me in a way I might not even be bothered if I was a gay Asian and not a gay Asian American or any other gay. But I am who I am. It is my belief they are together. Sometimes they make very clear seeming statements pointing to that (to my eyes). But the 'I go there because the room is close' has me like what? I know I sound entitled and I would hate for anyone to think this deeply about when me and my gf troll each other. Maybe I just answered my own question. Maybe it isn't that deep. But I appreciate you saying the confusion is bothersome because it can be even if I have no right to know anything about these men. And there is their safety and privacy to consider.

Hi. This was really nice. I know you sent it some days ago and I read it a couple of times before I even knew where to begin and because I was afraid I might end up not saying anything at all.

When I was first starting to know BTS, I thought Jimin wasn't straight. That was one of my first impressions of him. When I was getting to 2016-ish content, something about Jungkook caught my attention too and from that moment on I was squinting my eyes at him. I didn't believe at the time that they were together or had anything past friendship. Sometimes I read people talk about them, especially straigh people, and to me they sound as if they believed each other are the reason the other is gay, as if Jungkook wouldn't be queer if he hadn't met Jimin or as if Jimin wouldn't be queer if he hadn't met Jungkook. For me, them being queer and being together are two different things and they can be gay and friends without having a relationship.

Personally, it's not easy for me to draw a line betweet friendship and romantic love. I have fallen in love with and dated women I first considered my best friends. So I struggle to see that line in other relationships, too and especially in BTS when sometimes all the interactions and things they say about each other can be so similar. The things that for some people are undoubtedly romantic, I consider as friendship things too. And BTS relationships are like this sometimes; most of the times there's no line at all, especially since 2020. I mean no line between the way Jimin and Jungkook are with each other and the way they are with other people. This line was completely blurred for me last year, not only because Jimin and Jungkook barely interacted on camera, but also because of the way JK was so "passive" in the relationship. I held on to them arriving and leaving together at 3am, 4am, 6am, 8pm, and the comments Jimin made that sounded like they were living together because it was the only thing that made their relationship different from other relationships in BTS.

I do think Jikook are attracted to each other, tho, and that is not frienship; they have so much chemistry together, too. But I'm also old enough to know that attraction and chemistry don't mean you're in a relationship. The amount of time they seem to spend together seems to be too strong of evidence to them being in a relationship. Those two things together, the attraction and the time they spend together (which, I don't think it's 24/7 like I've said but it's also SIGNIFICANTLY way more than the time they spend with any other member), make me think they might be together. At first a couple of years ago, there were other things that made them different to me, but those things are gone now, and in turn now there are other aspects to their relationship (like the hickey or pretending to kiss) that weren't as "strong" before and they are now.

For me, the things they do sometimes are confusing, especially Jungkook. There are lots of things in the way he relates with other members that look romantic to me, so that's where I stop trying to pretend like I know what his actions mean. (I know tho that some people feel like this about Jimin). The way JK was with Taehyung at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 only for then to go and say that he kind of felt awkward with Taehyung during that time, was the most confusing for me. More often than not, I feel that his words don't match his actions. This time with the "his room is the closest" comment, it was a situation too where his words didn't match his actions for me. If he goes to Jimin's room so much is probably to spend time with him, righ? but then he's like "actually his room is close and I'm bored" so it's like... I believe he didn't want to seem too eager and that's why he made the excuse and then even said he will stay at Taehyung's room the night after. But most of the times I don't really understand what he's about, and if his actions or his words, or Jimin's words, which are more meaningful or the truth? Because sometimes all of these things contradict each other.

I too think that they either have to be gay, or be together because some of the things that happen between them don't make sense in any other scenario. But at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't together. I would be shocked tho if they were straight -especially Jimin because he's who has done the "gayest" things, like dynamite christmas remix- and I would feel like I was being lied to and played with. I would understand if they're not dating, if they're friends who are gay and act the way they do just because that's who they are, that's perfectly fine. I act gay with my gay friends too and we aren't lovers. But I would not be as understanding if somehow we were to find out that they were just "acting" gay.

I hope you know I am living off everyone's headcanons because I just found out my (One year out of date -.-) phone cannot play Cookie Run Kingdom. All of my CRK knowledge is from you and the headcanons lol

Aww thank you! I'm happy you've been enjoying the headcanons we've mentioned. If you can I recommend finding the stories that you can read in CRK the one on Espresso and Madeleine really made me ship Espressleine even harder along with the short story mission. There are are other short stories that are really cute too, my favorites are Clover and Herb cookie's "The Green Dawn" and Purple Yam, Milk Cookie, and Dark Choco Cookie's "Snowy Promise." Highly recommend ya read them.

And since you like our headcanons so much here are some canon facts that I know about Espresso and Madeleine cookie that I can say with confidence:

- Espresso and Madeleine have met once before when they were paired up on a mission, Espresso chooses to avoid all contact with Madeleine when they met again also never giving Madeleine the same attention others gave him, which leaves Madeleine to ponder why they can't have a closer frienship

- Espresso is absolutely a workaholic. He's always running off to get some sort of work done, whether it be helping others or if he's working on his coffee magic. Everything must be precise.

- Espresso does Coffee magic, not dark magic, although he is mistaken for a dark mage from time to time. He's the founder of the Coffee magic School. He also has a distaste for light magic. (He's looking at you Madeleine.)

- Madeleine cookie was blessed by the divine with his sword and shield, now he can be as reckless as he wants because he knows the divine got his back.

- Espresso and Madeleine are both genuinely nice guys who can be relied on, proven in their story mission. Although Espresso is usually busy with his magic if he sees a solution that can be solved by his touch he will help out. Madeleine is the same way albeit in a more reckless and spontaneous fashion.

- Espresso and Madeleine have the same taste in donuts. Honestly if Espresso tried they probably could be really good friends.

- this is more of an opinion than fact but I think Espresso and Madeleine's powers really compliment each other in the game and I recommend putting them on a team together if you can.

That's all I know from my experience playing the game. Honestly I'm still looking into other characters in kingdom. I'm close to getting every cookie! I'm currently trying to get Herb cookie~ I hope this post gives you more CRK knowledge.

Eddie Kaspbrak and Richie Tozier. I have always loved their interactions since I read the book. Their relationship is amazing. Richie and Eddie were bestfriend since kindergarden, so they knew each other very well. The thing of their relationship is the fact that Richie costantly teases Eddie, since they were kids. All of you knows that Richie often called Eddie with nicknames: Eddie Spaghetti, Eds, Spaghetti Head. Richie always suspected that Eddie loved when Richie teased him. I remember that in the book he called Eddie cute and pinched his cheek. How adorable.   Also in the movie we always sees that Richie and Eddie teases each other.

I always thinked that Eddie and Richie compensate each other: they are the opposite, we can say in a certain way that Richie is the strongest one and Eddie the softest one. Actually not. In my opinion Richie has always felt alone, and he tried to hide this fact with jokes. By the contrast Eddie has never be fragile, because on many occasions we can see that Eddie prove that is the bravest of the Losers Club. We know that he suffered psychological abuse. He always thinked he was different from other kids, but he was not. So many times they proved their affection towards each other, for example the simple fact that every time Eddie is in danger Richie immediatly reach for Eddie. In a kind of way Richie wanted to protect Eddie, always.

I'm happy that in It Chapter Two they gave justice to their relationship. I loved when Richie reminded to Eddie that he was bravest that he thinked. Guess what? He was. He saved Richie's ass. I remember that the Eddie's death was differen in book, but in this movie they also gave justice to a character like Eddie. The scene of his death literally broke my heart: he proved his courage to Richie, but much more important to himself, and then he died in the most heartbreaking way possible in front of Richie.

Since they were kids they built a beautiful friendship based on caring and love. Often in the book there are subdle references to their "love" (Eddie likes when Richie call him Eds and I remember once Richie called him my love. I was really freaking out at the time), because in the book we are not sure if Eddie and Richie are actually in love. I think when they are kids it's difficult to say what kind of love is, but I can say that is the purest kind of love.

In It Chapter Two we see that Richie had feelings for Eddie since when he was thirteen,but he couldn't admit to himself these kind of feelings. He was afraid. He stopped being afraid when he lost the love of his life. When they came back to Derry they replicated the pure friendship they had in their childhood, and we clearly see how Richie depends on Eddie and viceversa. In the book Eddie dies in Richie's arms, right after brushing gently Richie's cheek and telling him to stop calling him Eds. The cutest and the softest thing ever. We can finally said that Reddie is canon, and I'm glad of it. In my opinion their love is a platonic love. They never had to express their love, even in a physical way. Their relationship is based on caring for each other and that is what true love should be. On caring. By the way I don't ship the actors, Finn and Jack, or Bill and James. I think these actors have a beautiful chemistry on set and frienship, but nothing more. In the end I want people appreciates James Ransone's job. His permformance was outstanding. I'm in love with him seriously. I really think that this movie was an important opportunity for James to prove his talent.

But Bill and James are such a cuties!

I do, IN FACT!!!! I wonder if you mean couples within the silver snakes only (oc x oc) or with fe3h canon characters as well? Well, I’ll write about both and the ideas I have here... brace yourself, It’s gonna be a long ask cause you unleashed my love for couples....

Nicolai and Leon is one of my faves, basically brother in arms that become closer as time passes. Nicolai can’t socialize and deal with people for shit so having someone like Leon that has a very sunny and patient personality around is very comforting. Plus Leon has a lot of energy and will to live, and with time manages to... uh... maybe influence Nicolai with it a little? Or, at least, grab his skinny ass when he’s about to sacrifice himself in battle AGAIN and save him. Nicolai has an ardent desire to die and Leon is just not gonna let him, you know? When war starts Leon promises him he’ll bring him to his village in Dagda to meet his family.... and then when war is over they move there and fuck off forever, living in peace for the rest of their days. Nicolai finally has the opportunity to be who he wants and not have to pass down his crest or being haunted by his family legacy anymore.

Nicolai and Kristjan, they’re both very quiet and not exactly socially adapt, but that’s kind of what they enjoy from eachother, the possibility to just enjoy eachother’s presence without pressure or having to talk/break the silence. Incredibly enough, I think that when confronted with another shy person, Nicolai would be the one to step up and be more protective and supportive. I think that this relationship would bring out the protective / chivalrous side in him..... yeah....... I don’t know I just imagine how quiet, peaceful and swee those times would be 

Nicolai and Bernadetta, reject humanity, return to being social recluse... I feel like they have similar personalities and kinda vibe together well, after of course the trials and tribulations of Bernie trying to escape everytime she sees him because she thinks Nicolai is the spectre of death that was sent to kill her or something. But that just adds to the fun part of it and ridicolousness of the couple edhjfcghjdgfh. Plus Nicolai likes reading edgy poetry and novels so he would be really supportive of Bernie’s books. 

Nicolai and Sylvain... hee hoo you know me, I do enjoy a sprinkle of Sylvain content here and there... basically Sylvain is the only one from Blue Lions that doesn’t hate him after they discovered the Haandrastsz family had a part into killing Dimitri’s father. The Haandrastsz family terriroties were also near the Gautier's, so they knew eachother when they were little. (I cannot escape the childhood friends trope I am sorry) After the war, before rejoining with the other Silver Snakes, Nicolai retires to Sreng (where him and his uncle were exiled to by the Kingdom) and stays there, commanding a small army and gaining the trust/leadership of the local warlords. One time he leads an attack on Gautier territory and Sylvain is like ‘Oh hey Nico- HEY WHAT THE FUCK’  And I don’t know... I just think it’s kinda funny... Also Sylvain is the only one in Blue Lions from the original group of childhood friends that doesn’t really... judge people for who they are, you know (that’s why I love him), so it feels realistic that he wouldn’t think less of Nicolai for what his family did. Knowing the guy, he would probably try to find a peaceful solution to the situation, and even if Nicolai usually doesn’t give a shit about people, he would be like “Yeah okay I GUESS I can try talking to Sylvain instead of just brutally murdering him”. So yeah, the sheer contrast between personalities, and the similar trauma from crests/ families... I just think it makes for a cool combo.

Cassandra and Esther, another one of my fave couples, Esther grew up in poverty in the Empire’s capital and hating nobles for the huge power imbalance in Fòdlan, so seeing Cassandra’s objective to completion is one of the most important things in her life. Despite the big differences in their upbringing, they discovered that they shared a lot of things in common, and felt very comfortable and safe in the company of the other. Cassandra always felt like an outcast even between her family, so she finds Esther’s point of view on life very important and close to her heart. Cassandra loves how much of a free spirit she is, and wants to eventually be free and feel like she’s allowed to be herself, two things she can really experience when she’s with her. Esther’s story is part of why Cassandra feels like she needs to succeed and bring a change to Fòdlan, and made a promise to her that if she ever loses sight of her original dream and becomes yet another swayed ruler, Esther has to kill her  👀  Also, that good old “ruler and their right hand” kind of ship... you know? 

Cassandra and Mithra, another good ruler and their right hand ship... Mithra has trust in Cassandra as a leader and person, and is willing to do anything to help her achieve her dream! I think Mithra is a very silent person that doesn’t share her feelings and emotion easily because she’s always on high guard, expecting an attack from every direction, and focused on her duty almost too much to allow herself to be human and not only a soldier. That why it’s really cute when i think about how she would open up and eventually fall in love... YEAH

Cassandra and Sayid, this is a bit of a ‘what if’ kind of ship because Cassandra is gay, so I see this couple as more of a “platonic soulmates” kind of situation. Sayid and Cassandra’s relationship is one of my favourites because it starts from childhood friends, then changes to rivals, to frenemies, and then grows to trusted friends who will never be able to leave eachother. Cassandra was promised to marry one of Sayid’s older brothers when she was little, so he often jokes about how Sayid lost to his brothers even to that. (”Yes, but I was the one that had the honor to be right next to you” he would probably reply) They are eachother’s most trusted person, and Sayid grows from wanting Cassandra’s spot as leader and thinking she is inadequate to the role to being her most trusted advisor, that wholeheartedly supports her. It’s mostly the growth of the relationship that does it for me.

Mithra and Dedue...OKAY No joke I made Mithra Duscurian also because so Dedue could have a friend from the same country... so they can share Duscur stories and culture. Mithra left Duscur when she was little so she feels like she’s missing a part of her culture, and I just feel like her supports and relationship with him would be an amazing opportunity to both expand more on Duscurian culture and allow both to enjoy their home country and bond over it! And then maybe at the end of the war they can move back to what’s left of Duscur and start to rebuild together. 

Mithra and Felix, this is a bit of weird one, especially because of Felix’s shitty views on Duscur, but I’m mostly looking at the promise for a good character development and how cool an idea of a ‘warrior couple’ is. They start off as sparring partner, Mithra shares Felix’s dedication for battle and training, so they often find eachother at the training grounds until they start to train together. They develop a kind of friendly rivalry over wanting to beat the other, and being the two strongest students at the monastery. Felix gets his ass handed to him a couple of times, and his mental process is ‘holy shit how > fuck you > groagrhaprfgakdfgh > okay but she’s strong, I can learn from her if i continue to fight her’ to eventually respecting her skill and position. Mithra recognizes his strenght and unparalleled ability on the battlefield, but comments on his lack of teamwork and how fighting alone and not following orders is going to get him killed someday. (Being that she’s lived her life in the military, diligence is a very important value- and a way of life to her) Their rivalry/competition translates to keeping the other safe in battle (”you’re not allowed to die before I beat you” kind of deal) and eventually... uh... wow... emotions???

Sayid and Ferdinand, dhsgchdgsh To be honest this is boys being fancy and bisexual... They do share some values and morals, Ferdinand’s view on nobility are akin to Sayid’s, even though Sayid is a bit more like ‘earning what you and your family have’ rather than simply inheriting a role. I do like that they mirror eachother by being a leader’s right hand man, and growing their rivalry into a frienship with them, so I feel like they’d have that in common, and some interesting conversations could spark from that! Plus yeah have I mentioned fancy bisexual boys...

Leon and Hilda, okay this one too is like... nothing too deep stort wise, I just feel that they’d be such a cute good couple?? Mostly because of how they both have sunny personalities and how Leon would indulge Hilda and protect her... and they also give me some big domestic vibes?

Esther and Annette is just... listen... I don’t know exactly why I can see the two of them so well together, I just think their personalities would align really well and would lead up to some really cute support conversations and eventually relationship...

Kristjan and Linhardt is an interesting couple because while I think they have similar interests on magic/ crest studies, they have very opposite personalities. I like that Lin is very blunt and unapologetic about his interests and peculiar way of life, while Kristjan feels like even his presence is a bother and something he needs to apologize about. I think they could bond over their shared interests (you know Lin wouldn’t resist to analyze the peculiar crest situation Kristjan has going on) but also count as interesting opposites to eachother. Lin would definitely be a positive influence over how insecure Kristjan is, and have a role in him accepting himself. Also.... cute nerdy boyfriends who love to read and study together??? Yeah...

Kristjan and Lysithea another cute couple, but this time based on how interesting it would be to see them interact and talk about their similar stories with crest experiments. I feel like they would both benefit from being able to talk honestly about the trauma and experience of it all. And I also like that two individuals that feel like their life is not in their hands anymore- CAN grow and create their own life together.

Kristjan and Olympia is... one of the first couples I thought about back when I created the silver snakes! I really like how they’re polar opposites (again) and how well they mesh together. One of the consequences of the experiments done on Kristjan is that he can channel the power of his crest stone to enhance his abilities, and eventually, also to get really physically strong for a short moment of time. I imagined that it would be really cool and unexpected if the one person that managed to beat Olympia in a duel is in fact not even someone who’s an expert with physical combat! Olympia  is a very romantic and affectionate person, and I just really like the idea of Kristjan being showered with the love he deserves. (Plus I love the ship dynamic of mage/studious male character with strong/warrior female character a lot AHAH)

Olympia and Lorenz are... there to be fancy, cute and gorgeous together?? Despite some parts of his ideologies (that luckily he works and grows on), Lorenz’s ‘romantic’ idea of chivalry is very fascinating at the eyes of Olympia, and he kind of represents the idea of the ‘knight in shining (purple with roses) armor’ that she always looked for! They also both love fashion, art, drinking tea and little things like that... and I, AGAIN, love the idea of a couple where the woman is the strongest in the relationship dhgchjdsgcdsh There’s something really cute and powerful about her living her romantic fantasy with someone.

Olympia and Dorothea... JUST GALS BEING PALS... or not. They’re bisexuals together. I think they’d start to bond over Olympia’s idea of romance and research for someone that could beat her in a duel/ win her heart, and eventually really come close due to their experiences in dating/ finding out what they really want from love and relationship. And then they find that together!!!

I think you could sum up the types of couples I like with ‘similar personalities’ and ‘complete opposites’ AHAHAH It’s something that intrigues me with people in real life too! I discovered I tend to feel as fascinated by people that are similar to me, as much as people who are really different from me. This was a LOOONG response, but I loved to think about these couples and write down their dynamics! I hope you’re ready for a very detailed and long response! How to do Garak/Bashir in Canon DS9

Yesterday there was a fun tweet asking people how they would remake DS9 if they were given the option today.

Which led to some fun discussions (you can see my answers here). Obviously one thing that pretty much everyone said was “canon Garak/Bashir”. That’s generally considered one of the show’s big missed opportunities, with both Andrew J. Robinson and some of the show’s producers expressing regret over never having gone there. But it did get me thinking: how would you tell this sort of story? Because look, it’s one thing to write Garak/Bashir in fanfic, filling in gaps in the canon or changing the entire tone of the story to suit your ‘ship. But if you’re retelling DS9 along basically the same lines - the end of the Cardassian occupation, the discovery of the wormhole, the Jem’hadar, the Dominion, the war with Cardassia - and with the personalities of the characters and the tone of the show largely unchanged, how do you fit Garak/Bashir into that story?

There are some obvious issues with trying to work this ship into the show’s story and overall tone. For one thing, Bashir is a Starfleet officer. We like to make fun of his early, annoying incarnation, but even in that form he is clearly a decent, principled man with strong values. It’s one thing to flirt (literally or figuratively) with a mysterious, sexy spy, but getting into a relationship with him would not only be stupid, it would run counter to Bashir’s image of himself. You could go in a dark direction with this - Garak seduces Bashir purely as a way of gaining power over him (and perhaps out of force of habit); maybe they end up in a kind of Hannibal/Will relationship. But that doesn’t seem sustainable in the long-term, or congruent with the type of show DS9 was. Bashir can’t trust Garak, and Garak has done things that Bashir would consider disgusting. That’s something you have to take into consideration if you want to write them as a long-term couple.

It’s also worth considering that, as much as the Garak/Bashir pairing lingers over the fannish perception of the show, it’s not actually that prominent in the series itself. The last episode that I would call a Garak/Bashir story, “Our Man Bashir”, is an early S4 episode, well before the Dominion War happens. And Garak is absent for a lot of the later developments in Bashir’s life - “Doctor Bashir, I Presume” (you’d think Garak, with his complicated relationship with his father, would have something to say about Julian having been illegally genetically enhanced by his parents) or “Statistical Probabilities” (a troupe of savants who claim to be able to predict the course of the war would surely be of interest to Garak). In most of these stories, Bashir is accompanied by O’Brien, a much safer option as far as suppressed sexual tension is concerned (it should go without saying that this feels like a deliberate choice on the show’s part, to undermine any idea of a Garak/Bashir relationship). Meanwhile, Bashir is absent from most of Garak’s important Dominion War stories - his relationship with Ziyal and her death, his position in Damar’s rebellion, “In the Pale Moonlight”. So if you’re going to retell DS9 with Garak/Bashir as a real ship, you'd have to rewrite a lot of these stories to take that into account.

Finally, you’ve got the show’s ending, which is an extremely dark one for Garak, who gets everything he thought he wanted - his position restored, a place of honor in Cardassian society - just at the point where Cardassia is decimated and, in his words, left dead. Working a romance with Bashir into this ending would be tricky, and risks ending up with the final scenes of Man of Steel - two people making out atop a mass grave.

(Obviously, I’m taking it as a given that this hypothetical version of DS9 is much, much better at writing mature, complicated romantic relationships than the real one. Most actual DS9 romance was painfully juvenile, and the one exception, Sisko/Kasidy, was also an extremely low-drama ship - Sisko literally sent Kasidy to jail and the next time they met they were like “so, that was a bit of a bump in the road; dinner later?” It should go without saying that Garak/Bashir would not be a low-drama ship, so the writing would need to be there to support it.)

Anyway, complicated but obviously not impossible. This is what I’ve come up with for how I would rewrite the show with Garak/Bashir as an ongoing couple. I’m sure there’s plenty of fanfic with other, better ideas.

To start with, lose the claustrophobia business. Or, you know, keep it, but the reason Garak was expelled from the Obsidian Order and banished from Cardassia is that he’s gay. (To be fair, I feel like “claustrophobia” was pretty clearly code even in the original show.) A lot of people in the upper echelons of the Cardassian hierarchy know this - Dukat certainly knows - and miss no opportunity to harass him about it.

Obviously, in this version of the show Cardassia is deeply queerphobic. I don’t think this is a huge leap. Cardassian society is deeply conformist, and family-oriented in a fascist-adjacent sort of way that prioritizes the father as the master of the home. It’s hard to imagine a society like that tolerating deviations from gender norms, and it seems fair to assume that reprecussions for such deviations would be severe.

Garak doesn’t actually have a problem with this - or at least, not that he expresses. Garak’s defining trait is that he believes in, and loves, Cardassia deeply, and espouses its chauvinistic (in both senses of the word) values to anyone who will listen. But at the same time, he’s smart enough (and enough of an outsider) to know how hollow and destructive those values really are. So Garak will explain to anyone who challenges him on it that Cardassian homophobia is right and proper, while knowing that he has fallen victim to it himself.

Bashir is out. Though “out” might not be the right word because the Federation is so nonchalant about queerness that the notion of being closeted doesn’t really exist anymore (this is a version of Star Trek where we actually follow through on the promise of a more progressive future). But at any rate, to Bashir and the other Starfleet characters, him being gay is so unremarkable that it doesn’t even come up until his and Garak’s frienship is already established. This deeply shocks Garak - he knew humans were perverted, but the good Doctor, his friend? Bashir, meanwhile, wastes no opportunity to needle Garak about his society’s barbaric homophobia (Garak: “humans may be prone to such... urges, but Cardassians are made of finer stuff”; Bashir: *rolls eyes so hard he can see the back of his head*). But at the same time, and without being entirely willing to admit it to himself, Garak is intrigued.

And so we continue for about five seasons. Garak flirts with Bashir, partly because he thinks this is a way of unsettling the good Doctor, but really because he wants him. Bashir assumes that it’s all an act, and plays along with it a little because, hey, sexy spy. But he never imagines that it could go somewhere real, and probably wouldn’t follow through if it did.

And then Bashir gets replaced with a Changeling (this is a version of DS9 where that idea was seeded throughout the first half of the fifth season instead of being decided on five minutes before “In Purgatory’s Shadow” started shooting). And the changeling takes one look at Garak, sees an obvious in, and seduces him. Which clearly causes some awkwardness when Garak finds the real Bashir in a Dominion prison camp.

Bashir finds out. Worf tells him (this is a version of Worf who isn’t weirdly sexist and judgmental about other people’s sex lives). (Bashir: “why is Garak being so weird around me?”; Worf: “he and the fake you were doing it”; Bashir: “what”; Worf: “they were boning”; Bashir: “WHAT”; Worf: “they were engaging in sexual intercourse”; Bashir: “that's not possible. Garak only flirts with me to keep me on my toes”; Worf: *shrugs* “if that’s what you want to call it”.)

So now Bashir is upset because he’s spent the last five years bugging Garak about Cardassian homophobia and it turns out that Garak was a victim of it, plus he’s now been victimized by someone wearing Bashir’s face. And Garak is upset because he let his attraction to Bashir (Garak: “my base lust!”) blind him to the fact that his friend had been replaced by a changeling, leading to him being comromised as an agent (I will leave it as an exercise to the readers which one bothers him more). And, well, if you can’t get from there to romance on your own, you may not have read enough fanfic in your life.

Then you get the war, and honestly, I don’t know. You could do an on/off thing. You could make it a very casual relationship in between the two of them trying not to die and/or lose the Alpha Quadrant to the Dominion. You could have Bashir say “fuck it, I might die tomorrow and this guy makes me happy; who cares if my boyfriend is a liar and a murderer”. You could even go the Worf/Jadzia route and have them muse romantically about having a life together after the war. But either way, they spend more time around each other than they did in the original series.

But! When Garak goes back to Cardassia to help Damar’s rebellion, there’s a lot of tension between them, because Damar heard from Dukat that Garak is a pervert (you could still keep Ziyal’s death and Garak’s anger at Damar over it; those two always made more sense as friends anyway). And then it turns out that there’s an entire Cardassian queer underground, and in typical Cardassian fashion they’ve turned it into a whole spy network with operatives at every level of government. (Garak: “why did you never approach me?”; queer Cardassian underground: “dude, have you met you?”) And they’re willing to work with Damar if he promises that in the new Cardassia, they will no longer be persecuted (I think this dovetails pretty nicely with Garak’s observation that Damar needs to be disillusioned about the flaws of Cardassian society). So all of a sudden Garak is looking at a future where what he is doesn’t make him a pariah anymore.

And then you get to the destruction of Cardassia, and, again, I’m not sure how that combines with Garak/Bashir. The entire ending of DS9 is pretty rough on romantic pairings in general, but at least when Kira/Odo and Sisko/Kasidy break up, it’s bittersweet, and in service of other new beginnings. Garak’s ending is just bleak, and I’m not sure how you deal with a romance on top of that. The best I can come up with is Bashir saying “yes, this is horrible, but you can rebuild, and if you need my help with that, I’m not far”, leaving a door open for them to reconnect in the future.

You can change it - BNA AU (part 3)

Continuing from my previous post about my BNA headcanon

Here my perception on how the series developed Michiru and Nazuna’s frienship and how I would work on it in my au

Nazuna and Michiru

So, first of all I want to remind that I don’t ship them and in my Au there no romantic reference to their relationship. Thought, I do want to focus on their friendship too in my headcanon and develop them a bit.  I apology in advance if I seems a bit “cruel” towards Nazuna. I don’t hate her at all and don’t want to offend anyone who like her. I am just trying to do an analysis and continue my own way what the series, in my view, didn’t finish. I think someone really start to change and improve when they hit their lowest point. That’s what I will do to Nazuna, so that the change really starts from her. People sometimes realise their mistakes but keep doing them or can’t really have the strength to fix them. The manage when they reach the worst situation. Starting... I always felt like their bond was one of the things BNA kinda... treated in a odd way, at least more in the ending.  This is my personal perception of course, but I always felt like their friendship was reciprocated but at the same time onesided.  It’s kinda weird, but Nazuna and Michiru went through a lot and their bond seemed to become weakier but at the same time they acted like friends, at least mostly from Michiru’s side.  I’m not saying Nazuna doesn’t care about Michiru, she does and it’s pretty much clear. She was being used, using her personality to twist her view.  Thought, even so there were various occasions I felt like Michiru wasn’t treated fairly and various times I felt like she was the one seeking for Nazuna and not really viceversa.  They care for each other very much, but I feel like the efforts are initiated more from Michiru’s side.  It’s partly for Nazuna’s personality and for plot, but I think it could have been important to help their friendship develop more.  I also didn’t really see an apology between them. Shirou and Michiru apologized to each other for everything, but I didn’t quite see an apology from Nazuna for like... not trusting Michiru, accusing her of acting for her own advantage... pushing kinda her away... I know, they are teens, Nazuna was being manipulated and she had also her own reasons and right thoughts. For example, that scene in episode 6 maybe had some truth in it, Michiru has flaws and she indeed tends to assume others need help and offer herself. It may has to do also not just for generosity but also for feeling better herself. And Nazuna being honest was important. But the way she let her go along was somehow manipulating too.  The efforts were all from Michiru’s side, who kept fighting for her friend’s wellbeing, even if it meant being seen as stupid or else and not taking care of herself totally. I know, some may think “Off screen she apologized” or “She wanted to protect Michiru by keeping her away”.  These are possible, but at the same time it wasn’t shown and I believe that if they were real, they would have been seen, they are really important! An apology can last few seconds and if Nazuna was worried about Michiru being involved in Alain’s affairs she would have kept her TOTALLY away and we would have seen her troubled, even if privately.  So I base more my perception on what it’s clearly seen instead than suppose some off screen scenes to justify all the flaws of their bond.  It’s okay if it has flows, it can improve! I think if BNA had a season 2, more should be seen about this. I personally feel their relationship is not complete, it still has some holes... as in the season 1 ending it seemed it was all solved but I didn’t see the solution really of their bond. It just needed more development (also ShiroMichi, just like many other relationships). I can understand there wasn’t much time or space, but anyway, I want to work on it.  That’s why as it ended the series, I made in my headcanon that their friendship is still flawed. Distance and different goals made their lives different and apart and the nature of their bond didn’t help to keep it stable.  Melissa and Shirou pointed out more times this to Michiru before Nazuna drifted apart, stating how Michiru needed to also really think about herself. Her works were overwhelming and she couldn’t run everywhere to help people (in this case, Nazuna didn’t need her at all costs as she had her own manager) if she didn’t first take care of herself. Seeing each others lesser gave Michiru time to think, mostly after her departing with Shirou to travel. In that time, even missing Nazuna, she resorted to not contacting her and waiting to see some effort from her friend instead.  That however, was a useless wait.  The very next time she finally got to see Nazuna was when she “died”. Even if Shirou revived her, rumors of her death were already going around from who witnessed it. Nazuna was one of the people to be protected as important as symbol of AnimaCity and for her popularity, so the news arrived to her quite fast.  That shook her a lot.  When Michiru was finally back, her injuries were still quite bad and during her recovery Nazuna visited. Though again, the big period of silence between them wasn’t addressed. From there, they acted like friends once again, even if there wasn’t much stability. Michiru very much understood this and her travel managed to open her eyes on a lot of things, even more to make her grow.  She didn’t try as much as before to search Nazuna. In all this the fox girl started to feel something odd... guilt? Loneliness? Empty? She didn’t really think of it and shoved away often the strange feelings she got from the situation, acting like everything was fine and how it was supposed to be.  That until the day Michiru lost one of her cubs. Nazuna was heartbroken for her friend, but she realised she couldn’t understand Michiru anymore like she used to. For her, inside, Michiru was the same as always, same stubborn, helpful, invasive teenager. The changes were there but only in that moment she started to see them.  And it drove her mind away. “Michiru was always a free spirit and even if she liked children.. when did she develop this urge to be a mother?” “Michiru was one who threw herself into anything and everything without thinking, when did she become much more... responsible?” “Michiru was always around me, even when I didn’t need or want her... when did she...left?” Seeing everything suddenly appear clearer, crude and brute made her frantic. She couldn’t accept everything changed so much without her noticing, that she was in reality so self-asserted and blind. So, in her biggest moment of denial, the same one she wanted to cheer her friend up from her depression, everything went wrong.  She knew Michiru was stronger if provoked, she used to react and fight. So she assumed the same thing would work and the same words she once used would apply again. After all, Michiru was the same exact of her younger self, right?. “Are you keeping this self-pity act so people will comfort you and you’ll feel better about yourself? So in your thoughts you won’t feel like you screwed this up?” She spoke letting out her own frustration. She helped people to feel better about herself right? Even when they didn’t need it.  She pictured Michiru answering “It’s not true! I am not trying to receive pity or make myself feel better!”  And herself answering again “Because you don’t need it. It wasn’t your fault” She wanted to help, really, but besides her own frustration with the changes and insecurity, she never could picture this situation.  Nazuna liked kids but never really thought too much of having her own, she didn’t even think about it being possible being an idol and THAT was her biggest goal. She wasn’t really the type who would think of setting down.  While Michiru, adventure lover, who she never really pictured in that way (maybe because inside she always felt like Michiru would just follow her) ended up doing it. Wanting a family so badly and actually realising it. She realised too late she screwed up. Badly. When she looked at Michiru’s expression, in her eyes that sparkled for the first time in weeks a different emotion than desperation: hate.  She never saw that look on her friend’s face, not towards her at least. Perhaps it wasn’t hate, but for sure there was anger, betrayal... She could clearly read in her eyes something was over. Michiru, for the first time, just left. She wasn’t waiting for Nazuna to search her, to go after her. She wasn’t taking a break to then go back at the fox.  She left totally.  ... In the headcanon they won’t talk or meet each other directly for years.  Even if the ghost of their friendship is still present for Michiru, she moved on. Still keeping in her heart their song indirectly, singing it to her kids even if she didn’t want to think of Nazuna specifically.  Nazuna instead is haunted by this ghost. as her loneliness grow the success does, but her happiness is never complete.  Time was enough to think about things and she realised her mistakes, aknowledged them, but never found the spark to actually try and fix things.  She had success, she had fans and people who believed in her importance, but she was alone.  Michiru did a job in the shadows, one that protected people whom maybe didn’t know who was their savior and helper and felt happy that way. She had no people acclaiming her, but she had a loyal and loved companion and her kids; a family. She had friends and people to be close to, to confess her weaknesses, her doubts, to support and to help, with whom she could carry on and share experiences.  She realised how she treated her friend, how she was wrong and how she changed.  She kept delaying her apologies as she knew somehow Michiru would always seek for her and she would have time. Now it was too late.  Things changes when one night, years later, she found a kid after a party. The kid just showed up.  She asked if he was alright but he asked back the same question, somehow feeling she was really the one who wasn’t. She was shocked of course but covered it up asking if he was lost and who his mother is.  He didn’t answer on that (Will go back to this point later on for the reason) but he retorted she appeared like someone who tried to help to be recorded or something.  This made her laugh somehow, but then admitted that even if in past she would have made something like this, now she didn’t want to and wouldn’t even need it. She had enough of what she wanted.  She asked for a name, and this time finally she got a response ”Henko” (Nazuna didn’t ask Michiru which names she liked for her eventual kids, another point on how their friendship had holes, in this case on Nazuna’s side) Nazuna didn’t know what to do with the kid, they were in a safe park but why was a kid there at that hour? She didn’t know what to do. So she settled with starting a conversation, asking which animal he could shift to. At that question he seemed uneasy and didn’t answer, just stating that he hurted someone he cared about, created some problems and was now around searching a solution.

Feeling familiar with the situation, she explained why she was there. She felt kinda silly to vent to a kid, but he was listening and somehow she felt a strange feeling around him.  She talked about how she made a mistake, many mistaked towards someone and never made effort to fix them. With low voice she added "Even a kid is pulling himself up and working to fix things while me... instead... I’m such a mess...” the kid thought for a moment, he said his mom sang a song to him when he felt alone or unsure and that she told him often singing this would turn bright the stars so he could find the way again.  After some silence, Henko’s voice started singing in the hair. 

“Totsuzen ni mō Up side Down... Sekai wa kawari dasu...”

she froze.

“Inori mo todokanai... Boku ga kawari dasu” His voice... “Imi o motomete hashiri tsuzukete... Jibun ga dare ka wakaranaku naru... Naki-sōdakedo maketakunaikara”

She turned her head to him. The sun was rising. “Oshiete Yoru ni haseru kono yurameki to Omoinomama ni tobimawatte Motto jiyū ni kakete ikou yo Hoshi o miagete sa” There was no way... but everything was so filling into pieces. She just KNEW it inside, even if she couldn’t believe it.  He stopped singing, surprised a little by her expression, but then smiled sweetly “You seemed sad, but I think there is a star for everyone! It’s never too late to follow it!” She thought she wanted to become a star for people, but perhaps... Work in progress.... Still projecting the rest!!

bailey’s a scholarship student! by not so honest means but she’s genuinely doing pretty good since she’s actually putting in effort into making sure her life is in Check. she’s by no means a teachers pet, and just in general doesn’t... bring much attention to herself.

genuinely kind of has a talent for blending into the background and disappearing from situations she doesn’t want to be in - which really has helped as much as it’s damaged her young life. she’s mousy and quiet by default, usually reading or writing a whole bunch.

likes to nap in between classes in quiet and/or strange corners on campus as she progressively finds them. she likes to say she has a talent for sleep, which really it’s impressive how quickly she can sleep and how she can w wake up from naps at the right times

really, she’s trying this time to be more social and make friends. she’s put herself off from it for so long that she figures it’s time you know? it’s not like she has any particular difficulty with it (unless it’s in a large group setting ie: in front of classrooms then... whew) - bailey is genuinely a warm person when talked to albeit maybe a tiny bit blunt. she just happens to be in her own head a lot.

that being said she’s extremely calm - almost too calm that’s it’s really a way she copes to try and not be anxious constantly. it works, for the most part, thankfully and it’s been keeping her stable enough mental health wise. keeps her from any more college-dropping-out-inducing incidents with her anxiety. (that being said she’s Big Anxiety internally)

kind Notices things very easily. she’s an observer and have been since she was younger but since becoming quieter as she’s grown, it’s just become more heightened. it’s not like she voices out these things willynilly, but she likes to keep these things in mind. makes for good inspo when she’s writing tbh. 

her family fits snugly into the upper middle class tbh!  she has two younger sister, one who’s doing pre-medicine in an ivy league school, so a lot of the family funds are going into paying for that sister’s college. also her past of dropping out really has her parents not trusting her anymore - which was why she ended up in parker community college in the first place.

she’s really... like straight edge, completely by choice! she’s genuinely not interested in drinking or drugs it’s just not her thing? (she’s got enough on her plate tbh) she is trying to be more social and is trying to go to parties but she’s just been Struggling tbh it’s not really her scene? also partly why she is not that Experienced compared to her peers in intimate matters? the closest she’s had is a couple of “almosts” from high school that ended up going nowhere

i just by red velvet - that smidgen of hope, of (trying to) leave all past troubles and actually try now. the mindset bailey is trying to get into now that she’s in cape coral and moving on with her life! her attempt at being a proper adult now and for her to just leave the past behind. the contrast of the driving edm with the heavy-ish lyrics also feels like it’s very bailey in terms of her mind and thoughts.

busted & blue by gorillaz - the song's feel captures bailey’s vibe overall, it’s chill, slightly downer in tone, but has a hint of hope as well within the words. the lyrics, too, feel like they were written in her voice. kind of similar to how she’d write a poem, for example, especially during her very tumultuous period of life when she was in and out of school and truly starting to understand herself. It’s less a song that relates to her and more a song that emulates her in some ways.

class of 2013 by mitski - really explains her confusion and hesitance to grow into adulthood. it’s something she’s felt that she’s not suited for but life really doesn’t care about how she feels so she’s going to keep growing. so she ends up trying to cling on to years past even if there’s really nothing there for her anymore.  It’s really not helped by her rather poor mental health and the song doubles down on that feeling of progressively feeling more and more inadequate.

someone who just kinda sees her y’know? probably a person who’s found her weird spots and they’re slowly like beginning to share these spaces and such. which would partly weird her out because she’s been so used to just making herself not be seen and has been very successful doing it for so long. but it’s obvious she likes it and wants this person around more.

pre-scholarship parker community college friend(s)! bailey would’ve definitely started Trying when she got to parker so possibly someone she grew close with then and them getting the scholarships together would’ve been great for bay because she’s not alone again lmao

old friends from when they were younger? maybe family friends? her dad has a pretty large reach tbh so it’s possible she would’ve accidentally known some people from even before this. 

someone to try and get her out more and Live A Little. can be ~corrupting~ her or a bad influence, but mostly just someone to drag her out of her room and be daring and bold! she can at the same time, be a calming presence for them to just chill out with her 

a crush! a few crushes! a flirtation! bailey crushes really easily tbh but she also gets over them just as quick so however you’d want to play it out i’m up for that!

ooOOH someone who’s very forward in flirting with her and bailey actually gets super flustered? like she just wouldn’t know how to deal with it and she’s not sure if she likes it or not (probably likes it a lot). but she’s just not used to this kind of attention that it throws her off big time.

Is Alice Jones Autistic?

I’m not entirely sure where the autistic!alice headcanon originated. It might have been from an Autistic Headcanons blog or it might just be from the observations of individuals.

I can’t speak for everyone because my main reason for believing she’s autistic is that I’m autistic and I relate to a lot of her traits. Now, some of those traits could be explained by her being forced to grow up in isolation or even by a mental illness (I do see her as having co-morbid mental illness(es)) and some of these traits are headcanons themselves, so it really just depends on how you see her.

I’ll list some of the things that lead me to believe she’s autistic and not all of these apply to every autistic person:

Has a possible special interest in painting/drawing, chess and maybe even parkour. Take for example in 7x13 when she needs to play chess to help her relax. She likely wanted to play chess a lot more than Rogers could keep up with and I bet she talks about it and art a lot.

She can talk in a very abstract way. It’s a way that makes sense to her but not necessarily to anyone else and I don’t just mean when she’s talking about the curse. It’s the way she talks about the curse: “See something? I see everything. Now I’m ten feet tall!” “There’s still time before the pills make me small again.” (I know it’s an Alice in Wonderland reference but say, in her cursed memories someone read the book to her, this could be echolalia). And I’d be willing to wager she makes up her own words.

She thinks outside the box. Like myself, she seems to have trouble thinking inside the box and doesn’t so easily conform to societal norms: “What’s the point of a solvable one (puzzle)” and she made a heart-shaped beignets that was literally heart-shaped. She also seems to have difficulty telling that some things are wrong (not that all autistics do this, but it can be an issue): “Weaver said it was for the best, and I can’t always figure that out for myself.”

Her father brings her things that could be seen as sensory aids (I know this was to help her experience the outside world but it’s an additional way of looking at it.)

Doesn’t have a great sense of danger. I know she’s got some mad skills, but still she doesn’t hesitate to jump out of the window of a goodness how many stories-high building. She’ll happily fight a jabberwocky, befriend a troll (that, at the time, she didn’t know was of her own creation) and defend said troll in front of angry dudes with weapons and she rolled out of a freaking moving car. She also walked across the road without looking in 7x14 (#relatable). That incident could have even been chalked down to her not being a good judge of distance or to her being over-stimulated by the traffic. When you get overstimulated your whole sense of exactly where everything is around you just goes out the window. It’s probably not the only time that’s happened. God knows how much trouble she got herself into in Wonderland and the other places.

Has a connection to creatures and and an attachment to objects like Mr. Rabbit and she even slept next to the viles of sand her father got her. It’s understandable that she would be attached to the inanimate objects that were her only company for years, whether she’s autistic or not. She seems to relate more to creatures, such as the troll and maybe even some creatures in wonderland (goodness knows if she was out-running the bandersnatch for fun or what).

Doesn’t like to sit still for long. Sometimes seen stimming with things in her hands.

Seems to be fairly selective with what she eats. Eating the same thing everyday is not an uncommon autistic trait (I literally have beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and it seems that marmalade sandwhiches are the thing for Tilly. It could be a sensory issue. She seems to have a preference for sweet food as salty food might be too strong for her or it could just be because we love routine. It brings a sense of much needed security in an otherwise over-stimulating world.

Likes routine. I’m sure her father liked to make sure they had a routine in the tower but as Tilly she seems to have her routine of going to the troll, playing chess with Rogers, talking to Weaver and eating marmalade sandwhiches. She doesn’t seem to be completely averse to spontaneity however, since she was willing to go to Wonderland and other places but then and again, she was desperate to find a cure.

Is more vulnerable to manipulation. Listen, I love Alice & Rumple’s frienship as much as the next guy but you can’t deny that he was manipulating her at first in 7x18. It seems she doesn’t have a brilliant sense for figuring out the intentions of others. The same goes for when Weaver tricked her into eating the pill-sandwhich.

Has what can be seen as autistic meltdowns. This is a difficult one to assess because her sometimes erratic behaviour is likely due to a mental illness but there are many co-morbid conditions that can come with autism. But if we are to look at her outbursts as meltdowns, then we can see that they are triggered by things not goin the way Alice expected. If an autistic person has pre-planned their day then any disruption to that can cause a meltdown or shutdown i.e. Rogers saying no to the game of chess, Rogers and Weaver not listening to her pleas for them not to talk to Eloise coming as a shock, Weaver giving her her meds and not remembering his life in the EF and the incident at the hospital. Nothing was going as Tilly expected and there was no way for her to fix it. She tried to calm herself down by pacing or swaying slightly from side-to-side. It could have all been further exacerbated by the bright lights and in some cases loud noises of the traffic/the hospital lights/the light in her shipping container. Her outbursts were completely out of her control. I’m sure she would have never pointed a scalple at Rogers and Weaver if she weren’t in that state. The fact that she didn’t remember how she got to the hospital could be because of her meltdown, often after or during one you don’t know what’s going on, what you’re doing or why your doing it. This could also explain why she loses time like she explains in 7x14. This could also be partly down to the fact that she might have poor short-term memory which is common in autistic people.

Could the fact that the curse couldn’t completely erase her memories be due to her having a very strong, photographic long-term memory? Just a theory!

Seems to prefer to socialise in small groups (this could be due to circumstance).

Is seen as ‘weird’, ‘eccentric’ or ‘odd’ by others who don’t understand her way of engaging with the world.

Sometimes repeats phrases “Something’s bad, something’s broken, something’s wrong.”

Has difficulty with conflicts, arguments and being yelled at.

Sees the world in a special way according to her father so it’s likely she’s not like other people he’s been around.

Is okay being around other people but may 'play’ on her own e.g. when she was in Rogers’ car with the mushrooms. She was content to be around him while doing her own thing.

In some situations she may be masking e.g. at first with Margot, so that she could pass for allistic.

Can sometimes get her words confused: “You know me better than anyone. I can't have done it, could I? Or I could've done it, can't I?”

Difficulties communicating her thoughts and feelings, in words, to others, especially if anxious, stressed or upset, hense part of the reason she ends up having an meltdown.  

I personally think she’s undersensitive to movement and touch so she might have issues with personal space and it could be why she isn’t often still and moves around alot.

May have issues with executive funtion e.g. time management, orgazisational skills, inhibitions, working memory and problem solving which she may have been helped with by Rogers once she moved in. It makes your mind a freaking jumble so I wouldn’t be suprised if she has issues with this.

Seems to have some trouble in social situations. This could be due to all those years in isolation but there are definitely times where she will just speak her mind or do things that might be seen as socially inappropriate e.g. the situation with the troll, her just popping up in Victoria’s car and scaring the shiitake musrooms out of her. She sometimes seems a bit confused by what other people are saying e.g. the whole “Targot” thing and others seem confused by her.

I could honestly go on about this for days. Like, there’s so much more I could talk about. I might make another post expanding on this, but this is just my perspective! As I say, a lot of this could be down to her years alone in the tower or a mental illness but this is just one way of looking at her traits!
